Girl, it is 2020. Loving your mask. Loving your vaccine. What's going on?
B
Well, you're saying that because I. We're virtual today. Hi, everybody.
A
We are. It's so weird. I don't like not having you here.
B
I know it's very weird, but something. I just couldn't make it into the studio today. I'm fine. Mike's fine. Fiona's fine.
A
Yes.
B
The block on which I live is having a little bit of a moment for herself. I don't want to use the word lockdown, but there's kind of a thing going on where I was told to not leave or. Or whatever. So I'm here.
A
No questions. We. We are not accepting questions at this time.
B
Look, no one I spoke to was accepting questions either, so.
A
Yeah. Hi. Julie Bezavoli.
B
Hello. Patrick Hines.
A
I'm going to look around the studio and make sure all the things that you normally check to make sure are recording are recording. I think I'm doing okay. I don't like not having you here.
B
You have the external hard drive for the camera. Everything's everything.
A
Yes. It seems like we're doing okay. I don't. No problem. This episode might not ever air.
B
You know what? I want it to air because I have a lot to say.
A
But, girl, before we get to it, we got to remind the people to please join the Facebook group. It is the true crime obsessed podcast discussion group. So fun, so cool. 55, 9,000 people, whatever. It is moderated by Sasha. So it's a very safe space on the Internet to come talk about the episodes. Make new friends, share your dog memes, do whatever you want in there. Within reason. Within reason.
B
Within reason. You know what I mean?
A
Yeah. Within the re.
B
We also have a Patreon, in case you're interested in that.
A
Yes. Oh, my God. Tell them what we're finishing up right now.
B
Okay, so we are in after this. We're recording the last episode of Mr. And Mrs. Murder on Hulu. Then we're doing Cold Case, the Tylenol Murders. We just did Amy Bradley. We do, like the series that have multiple episodes, but also ad free versions of these episodes. And then also some, like, fun bonus extra stuff.
A
Yeah, Drag bingo. At other levels. You get, like, episodes just for that tier. We send some people some stuff sometimes in the mail. It's really fun.
B
We're kind of a mob wives podcast now.
A
Oh, my God. I gotta say, we've got over like, 500 full ad free bonus episodes. Like, if you love TCO and you want more, go to the page over, like, 500 full ad, free bonus apps. It is insane over there.
B
That is crazy.
A
It's wild. It's so crazy wild. All right, tell me what we're doing today, girl.
B
All right, so this is called Rom com. Who the fuck is Jason Porter? And it's two episodes and we're doing it in one. I had some doubts. Are you really into older women?
C
One name just kept popping up. Jason Porter. Jason Porter.
B
He was a thief. He committed fraud. He was a criminal.
C
This guy is a scammer, and I am literally next on the list.
B
He's a menace and he needs to be punished. He manages to manipulate the police. He can manipulate absolutely everything.
C
Who the fuck is Jason Porter?
A
We get started with a woman named Heather. She's gonna be the hero of our story. Her story starts in 2018. She is young and fabulous and living in Toronto. She's not looking to date. She was in her workout routine. She had lots of friends, super successful in her career, all about her own life.
B
Yeah. I mean, like usual, this is when these guys swoop in and ruin everything, when these women are thriving.
A
Yeah. Well, I love the producer says to her, like, well, what did you want from your personal life? And she takes a very big, deep breath and says, well. And then we just get right into it.
B
Well, yeah, exactly. So it's 2018. She just renovated the condo, and the cabinet company sends over their new service guy. Heather cannot believe her eyes. She's like, oh, hello. It's right out of a romance novel.
C
She's saying, oh, I'm sure there's many a woman who has a fantasy of getting it on with the handyman, but that never crossed my mind. But I also noticed he had a super cute butt. Like, it looked really good in those jeans.
A
I do love a cute butt. I will say a cute butt goes a long way.
B
But then she starts reciting from the smut that she's written in her mind because she's like. The way she says this, I was like, heather, what kind of ride are we in for right now? Because she goes, yeah, I'll never forget this. He took off his watch with this precision like a surgeon would.
A
And I'm like, I know, I know. But she tells him he had been a software engineer. He was sick of the corporate life. He wanted to do something new. He wanted to use his hands. Which was a huge turnout for Heather. Which, in fairness to Heather, that is pretty sexy.
B
The smut is writing itself at this point. No, because she even said she was like, I'm sure. People have this fantasy where it's like, oh, I need my backsplash fix. And then the guy walks in and it's him with the cute butt, like.
A
Who'S looking at the watch, truly.
B
So, yeah, they flirt the entire time. And they flirt so hard that he does a terrible job because he leaves. And Heather's like, oh, the towel bar is crooked. Like, what? He's just not good at this. But again, the butt look cute. She doesn't care.
A
I got to tell you, a crooked towel bar would make me crazy. I know that we just had a good flirt sesh and we're probably going to do it later, but you got to come back and fix the towel.
B
Because it's all that you see. Once you see it, you can't not see it. And then it becomes bigger and bigger and bigger. And then it's the only thing that's in your heart.
A
More and more and more crooked. Like the longer you look at it.
B
Now it's vertical, Right?
C
Travel down the road.
A
Back again, girl. Everyday doses back. This is that coffee that does more.
B
Yeah. And also does less in a way, because it's not giving you, like the jitter. You know, sometimes people are like, jittery or they get like, bloated or all those, like, stuff side effects. So it's like no side effects, but a lot of added benefits. So it's doing that thing where it's.
A
Like doing both and it's delicious. So Everyday dose The coffee features 100% Arabica coffee enhanced with functional ingredients for smooth energy, calm focus, gut health, and skin support. So we're talking no crash, no jitters. It's the all in one coffee that makes you feel as good as it tastes. I used to just be one of those, like, grab whatever was on the shelf at the grocery store. I had to have it every morning. I felt kind of crappy afterwards. Since I've made the switch, I am like a new person.
B
And also, you probably weren't expecting to hear this. Collagen.
A
Yes.
B
Collagen is less about quantity and more about consistency. So everyday dose makes the ritual of taking collagen easy to support. Like skin and hair and nails and joints. And we all need all of that support.
A
Yeah. And so, like, if you're like a coffee person like me. I'm not like a fancy coffee person, but I like my options. They've got the mild roast, they've got the medium roast. Their ingredients undergo third party testing to ensure purity and potency. Free from mold and rich in additives and Compounds like, imagine this thing that you do every single day, but now it, like, gives you extra.
B
Yeah. And hey, guess what? Exciting news, everybody. You can now find Everyday Dose in Target stores across the country.
A
Yeah. Celebrate that fact with a buy one, get one deal fam. Just buy any two Everyday Dose products at a Target store near you and they'll pay you back for one visit.
B

A
You know you're drinking your coffee anyway.
B
Yeah. Like, you should feel good about it.
A
Yes.
B
Jitters? I don't think so.
A
No.
B
So let's talk about Tiffany, the sales exec.
C
Thanks. I feel like a bit of a.
B
Boob, but.
C
Oh, my God, I hate talking about myself.
B
Just do me. Well, when you're editing.
A
She says she feels like a boob. I love. I wonder if that's a Canadian word. Like, I. You know what I mean? Because, like, we're mostly in Canada for this. Nobody in America would ever say that I feel like a boob.
B
To me, it's a very old school yes Thing to say.
A
Yes. Well, she was also doing great. Her career, she's nailing it.
C
At 40, I had been so focused on my career. My number one focus was to be as successful as possible. And when I got to it at about 40 years old, I was like, I think I would like to maybe share my life with somebody.
B
I think I might want to share my awesome life with someone. Like, let's try this out. But I love that that's how she got here.
A
And she did it. Like, at 40, she's like, I kind of did it. Now I need to find a partner rare and ready to. That was how I met Steve.
B
Let's see who's lucky enough to be in my awesome life, says Tiffany.
A
Yeah. But then she gets on the apps and she's like, now this is the thing. I'm so grateful that I don't have to know anything about the swiping on the apps. I would be so bad at this.
B
What do you mean?
A
Like, like, there would be too many choices. I would get overwhelmed, or I'd start reaching out to everybody and you know what I mean? Like, it did the world of online dating on the apps with the swiping just. It feels like it was meant to solve the problem of, like, how do you meet people? And it is a good solution, but at the same time, it feels very intimidating to me.
B
Yeah. Like that. There's a little bit of distance, though, that you could be like, or maybe if you swiped the wrong direction, then you can Think about it again. You know, it's not like, oh, now I'm stuck standing at this bar in this conversation that I can't get out of.
A
God, the world used to be like that. Like, holy shit.
B
I know. Crazy, Crazy. So she meets this guy, jace, and they on the apps, right? And they hit it off right away. And she's like, he stood out from all the rest. Energetic, fun, sexy, a real man. She's into it. Yes, she's into it.
A
We're back with heather and Heather's like, you know, remember to him, she. He's the towel bar guy with the.
B
Cute but the hot guy.
A
I didn't know if I wanted to go out with him. So she reaches out to one of her girlfriends slash spiritual coach. I was like, her name is kristin. She's here. She's with us for most of this whole story.
B
I was so confused at this because when I hear spiritual coach, I'm like, well, I hope she has since found a new career because in about five minutes we're going to learn how wrong she was.
A
I know.
B
But then we cut to kristen, who I kind of like because she sees right through this guy right away. And I'm like, is this the spiritual coach? Because it doesn't say that in her lower third.
A
I know. Well, it's a ridiculous thing to have as a lower. But I was thinking too about, like, my boundaries and my therapist. I was saying to him last week that I wish I could invite him to my Christmas party. And he was like, no, girl. But I was like, but then you can come and meet all the people I talk to you about all week. And he's like, yeah, that's not happening.
B
That's not the point of this.
A
And that's not the point of this. But Kristen does not have those professional boundaries. She's happy to cross that line and.
B
She'S very vocal about her feelings in this documentary. I was very happy she was here.
A
I was going to say you and kristen have a lot in common. Like, you guys seem like kindred spirits a little bit.
B
Yeah. Yeah. We'll dive into the. The kristen ness soon enough.
A
Yeah.
B
So we get on screen text step one, the perfect first date. So we will end up meeting a lot of women here. So it's. This is really about, like, Heather and Tiffany right now.
A
Yeah.
B
But it's one of those things. It's just all the same story with details change where One story it's Italy. Next story it's Japan. Whatever. We'll. We'll dive into it.
A
He's a liar and a scammer. And Heather is saying that it's June 2018. It's been like two and a half weeks of chatting with the hot towel guy with the cute butt. A cute butt really does get you a long way in the world.
B
I'm just saying it can excuse a lot of things.
A
It really can.
B
It's a literal, like. Yeah, but like.
A
Yeah, but truly. But they go in their first date, he shows up on a motorcycle. This really turns her on. I don't think I would like this.
B
I wouldn't. But the move totally works on Heather. And if it works for you, it works for you.
A
I would just be so worried about my own personal safety. But then I guess you do get to, like, snuggle up against the guy and, like, hold on tight on the motorcycle, which I guess could work.
B
Yeah. And like, it's supposed to work. This is what he doing. He's just trying to feel out. I'm sure she mentioned how hot she thinks motorcycle or something. I don't know.
A
But the reason.
B
What I think people forget is like, the reason we're all here is all choreographed on his end. So, yes, he knew the motorcycle was going to work on Heather. Would it work on Tiffany? I don't know. Probably not. But he is doing what he knows is going to work well.
A
And then speaking of, Tiffany's at the restaurant for her first date with Jace. And I don't like this.
C
She says, the waitress comes up and.
A
She'S like, holy shit.
B
I'm like, I know. I don't know what he's doing here with me. He's so fucking hot.
A
What's he doing here with me? And I'm like, heather, I love you. You are beautiful. You are successful. Like, he should be feeling excited to be out with you.
B
Took the words right out of my notes. I was like, why? Because she's like, I don't know what he's doing here. And I'm like, can we. Why do we do this? And we all do it. But I was like, tiffany, be nice to yourself. You're awesome. Cut the shit.
A
I know.
B
Say what you would say to a friend of yours, Tiff.
A
And like, look, Tiffany has lost 80 pounds. I've recently lost about 80 pounds. And like, I get it. I understand that, like, the way that you see yourself, it's hard to like. Or I guess what I should say is the way the world sees you and the way the world reacts to you is different. And it's. You're. You're being Treated differently, but you're the same person. It's a such a stupid thing about the way we look at, like, thinness as an ideal. I hate it.
B
Yeah.
A
But Tiffany is living in it. But she also has a good sense of humor about it. Like, I, I love Tiffany. I just didn't like, this moment isn't the cute moment. I think she wants us to think it is because it's like, Tiffany, you're beautiful and perfect and, and don't ever.
B
Although when she hears this, I feel like she'll be like, ladies, please, it's not that serious. I know, I'm awesome.
A
Like, I should be like, yes.
B
There's like bigger fish to fry here. What are we doing?
A
100%. Yeah.
B
So, you know, he tells Heather and Tiffany he was born in Italy or Japan. He was plucked from his graduating class at the University of Waterloo and was flown on a private jet for an interview and then a job offer in the same breath.
A
Yeah. Super successful software engineer, owns his own company, lived in China and Japan, six months in India. Heather tells us that he has a 3 year old son and he's like entangled in this ongoing family court battle.
B
Total mess with his ex. She's a nightmare, the poor kid. Oh, my God.
A
But Tiffany says he's got a son. He's got to be a good guy. Well, like, that's part of the plan is to like, let them know about the kid, to like legitimize him as a good person.
B
Right. And he's being vulnerable and then like the super hot makeout happens.
A
Can I ask you about this? Because they both describe being slammed up.
C
Against the wall and he literally pushes me up against the wall and starts kissing me. Like, I've never been kissed like before.
A
Is that hot?
B
If you do it right.
A
Okay. I didn't know if you were going to like this or not. Like, I do not like the idea of like slamming somebody up against a wall.
B
No, I don't think he's taking them by their shoulders and shoving them into.
A
The wall, body slamming them.
B
I know it was discussed and consented to earlier, but. No, there is kind of that moment of like, oh, like we're in the hallway near the strong man. I totally get it.
A
It's giving, sexy. Like he's the big spoon, they're the little spoon energy, I guess.
B
Yeah. And like, you know, he grabs their face and their neck and they're loving it. And Tiffany says something where I was like, whoa, this is a big statement.
C
Any insecurity? He kissed right out of Me. He was like, you look just as good, if not better than your picture.
B
And I was like, oh, man.
A
I know. And you know what really sucks about this? We're gonna. When we learn, like, what kind of predator he is. He literally picked her because he assumed that because she was, like, a larger bodied person, she would have insecurities. I hate that about our society.
B
I know. Meanwhile, she was like, who's lucky enough to hang out with me because I'm awesome and I'm super successful.
A
Exactly.
B
But then, so we're like, hearing about the makeouts. And then we cut to Kristen, who's.
C
Like, he was doing kitchen renovations because.
A
He wanted to work with his hands.
C
Like, okay, how do you go from making $300,000 a year to making like, 30? Was a little suspect from day one.
B
I'm sorry. He left a $300,000 a year job to, quote, work with his hands for 30 grand.
A
Like, sure, Jan. Yeah, exactly. And Tiffany is saying, like, this guy's good. They have the date, they've got the make. Slam her against the. Give her a concussion. Giving her a kiss.
B
Can you, like.
A
And then. I know. And then the next day he texts saying what a great time he had and, like, can he see her again?
B
Right? And this is where we meet, like, Judy and Leslie. And they all have the same kind of story where he's like, almost. Almost too complimentary. And yeah, they see a red flag. Like Leslie says, every time I had a question, he had. He had paperwork to whip out and prove. And I'm like, well, that's also weird, too, to have documents at the ready to, like, prove how divorced you are.
A
How is that not a red flag? Let. Because we're going to learn eventually, too, that he's got this backpack that he carries with him everywhere and all of his papers are in his back. Like, if you've got to bring your, like, your marriage license from your ex wife to prove that you were married once, that's insane. And like, we are just learning, like, we are a looks obsessed culture because this guy is hot and he's got a motorcycle and a kid. We just see people making excuses for these things that are. That don't make sense. And I'm not blaming them. I'm just saying that, like, once again, if these documentaries are being made, let's learn something from them. And we're going to hear way later in this documentary from Judy eventually, like, when you get the. Those spidey senses, when you get those red flags, like, really, really pay attention. Like the one Thing I hope that we take away from documentaries like this, because we've covered a lot of them lately, is that this shit is rampant and under reported. It happens all the time.
B
Yeah.
A
So if you're on a date with some hot guy and it's going really too well, and you think it might be too good to be true, and you're seeing, there's one thing about, like, thinking it might be too good to be true, but it's green flags as far as the eye can see. Fine. Like, enjoy it. But when you start to see the red flags, like, he's got a marriage certificate in his backpack to prove that he was once Marri. Ladies and sometimes, gentlemen, please, please, please pay attention to that.
B
Yeah. You know, and it is rampant. But. And this is. I think what people don't really want to hear is it's avoidable. So I'm begging you, like we're saying, look for the signs. Listen to the signs, ask the hard questions and deal with the disappointment and move on early. It's better to be disappointed and maybe kind of heartbroken or. Or whatever for a couple of days, a couple of weeks instead, as opposed to living a horrible life. Because for all your worth, like, please, what?
A
My dear, brilliant friend Gillian says all the time, have the one bad day. And I get it. I do. I do understand that, like, he's looking for people with specific insecurities or maybe who are in a place in their life where they're vulnerable for this thing. But I also want to reiterate this other point one more time. You may not know anybody in your life that this has happened to, but more likely, you just don't know that this has happened because it is. It is. It is unbelievably underreported. So it's not like this never happens. Why would it happen to me? This happens. Happens all the time.
B
Yeah. And it's not your fault. And it's okay to be disappointed. And just because this guy is a walking red flag doesn't mean that you're, like, never going to find a person. So deal with the sadness for a little bit, because I promise you, it's better than anything else coming your way with these pieces of shit. Travel down the road. Back again, girl.
A
Home Chef is back. These ads must be working because we were walking through our neighborhood yesterday. We counted three Home Chef box on doors in our building.
B
Oh, my God, three. Well, here's the thing. Home Chef is rated number one by users of other meal kits for quality, convenience, value, taste, and recipe. So that makes sense to me.
A
It's the thing where it's delicious, it's convenient, it comes right to your house and it makes cooking so easy. So we're talking fresh food delivered, easy recipes to follow and meals that actually taste great. Even Daisy eats them.
B
And also, like, sometimes you want to cook because it's like, I feel like it's meditative and it feels good. But also they have like oven ready trays or quick microwave options. Whatever you want, they have you covered. And they also also have 30 meal options a week.
A
Yeah, they know they're not one size fits all. It's different diets, different tastes. I was keto for a minute. I'm usually gluten free.
B
You can get it all when you were keto.
A
I know.
B
And it's also affordable because Home Chef customers save an average of 86 bucks a month on groceries. Because Home Chef is sending you what you need and then nothing else.
A
No. And that's not even talking about ordering out, which we know we all do and we should not. It's like so much less expensive to.
B
Do the Home Chef and all the fees. There's like service fee, the delivery fee. It's just so expensive.
A
So fam. For a limited time, Home Chef is offering our listeners 50% off and free shipping for your first box. Plus my favorite free dessert for life.

A
We're back with Heather. All Heather wants to talk about is the amount of sex they were having, how many times in what night and in what room.
C
And he carries me from the living room to the bedroom, throws me on the bed, and we're doing it. And he made me feel incredible. We went for round two in the kitchen. Twice in one night, I guess.
A
Tell me more. Heather. You know what I mean?
B
Happily. I mean, she. Tiffany would agree. Except Tiffany. And this is like in the. You didn't have to tell us this file. Tiff and I love you.
A
I. I couldn't agree more.
B
And I appreciate the vulnerability and honesty because she says that they were having sex for the first time or about to.
C
It was the worst timing to possibly get your period.
B
It was a horrible. I wanted to die.
C
I wanted to die. He was slammed, like, don't worry about it.
B
It's fine.
C
He was actually very understanding. And lovely.
A
This piece of shit actually does the right thing and tries to say to her, like, don't worry about it. Like, it's not that big a deal. But she's so embarrassed by it that, like, she never reaches out to him again until they reconnect later. But I just was like, oh, my God. Like, it's just a natural thing that happens.
B
Yeah. I'll do you one better. I'd love to have been able to opt in or opt out because it's meaningless for me and my body and my choices, and I have to deal with it, and it sucks.
A
I know you and I have talked about this ad nauseam, that, like, there should be a thing for people who get periods who don't want them because they don't want to have children. There should be a way for you.
B
To not have surgery. I know. You know what I mean? Without having some big kind of situation or whatever. Like.
A
Or you should be able to pick one man at random and pointed him. And now he's got to deal with.
B
It every month to do it. I don't want it. You do it.
A
Yeah. If you have to deal with it and you don't want the kids, but you have to deal with it anyway. Point at a guy, make him have it. There should be some sort of magical spell that can make that happen.
B
Okay, let me work on that.
A
I was going to say, you're a witch. You can do this.
B
Let me figure something out and see what.
A
We have a lot happening, so there must be a lot of conjuring going on in your house these days. There's a lot going on we need you to deal with.
B
I feel like, however, if that was possible, we would have come up with it already. I feel like that's the first thing from back in ancient times that women would have been like, I don't want this, like, con. Let's conjure it away. Let's figure something out.
A
Yes.
B
So, you know, Tiffany was too embarrassed to keep seeing him. And she goes. But we. He. He always stayed in contact. We've seen this before, right?
A
Yes. Yeah.
B
On screen text says, step two, love bombing. Like, again, this train's never late. And he's. Now he's like, using his son. So the whole thing is like, you know, everything's amazing. And he's so in love, and he just cannot wait for his son to meet Heather.
A
And Heather, like, she's 46 years old and, like, there are plenty of who don't have kids and don't want them, especially at 46. But Heather is the opposite. She's thrilled. She's all in. She's super interested. She wants to know everything. She wants to be involved in this kid's life. Like, Heather is such a catch.
B
And so Heather says, she's like, I was addicted to this feeling. She goes, I was totally in. She goes, it's like a cartoon. Like, is this real? Is he real? And I'm like, that's the thing. That's the point. It's meant to make you feel amazing. Because who doesn't want to feel amazing, right?
A
And then we get this round robin of how quickly he's saying I love you to these women and, like, kind of forcing them to say it back to him.
B
Wait, this was so crazy. I wanna slow down on this for a second. Cause Leslie says. He said, I love you first. And then he said, you love me, don't you? And I said, I do. And he did a big fist pump. Like, yeah, I got you now. He's like, you love me, don't you? And he kind of trapped her. Cause it's like, what do you say? I know you guys are having fun in the supermarket. Which, by the way, the sick thing is, like, that's how it should be, only these awful people now weaponize it, right? But anyway, I'm like, what are you. What is Leslie supp. Supposed to say to that? To this amazing guy who keeps buying you all of these things and makes you feel good? And then, of course, you're like, well, I guess I do. And then when she says, I love you too, he goes, ah, I got you now. And I was like.
A
And he does, like, a fist pump in the air. No, to me, that's another, like, slamming her against the wall to give her. It's the kind of thing that, like, maybe he thinks some women want to hear. Like, I'm the man. I'm taking charge, and you do love me, woman. Or whatever.
B
Just to slow down on it. There's, like, a very sexy way to maybe gently push someone up against the wall when you're making out. I get. Again, I want to be clear. We're not talking about shoulders. Body checked into a wall without your permission.
A
Can we put a pause, Go get Mike? Maybe you guys could show me real quick.
B
Happily. He's very good at it.
A
Mike is so sweet. I can totally see him, like, gingerly pushing you against the wall, putting his hand behind you to make sure your head doesn't hit the wall first.
B
No, he gets. Whatever. It's not the time for the place, okay?
A
It could be.
B
Well, you know what? I'll let everyone have their own imagination. Some things are best kept.
A
Okay, great.
B
To yourself. Yourself. But just know that it's great. So everything is moving really fast. And this is on purpose, right? To, like, stop you from being able to think. You're saying, I love you. He's moving in. He's like, before you know it, you're like, oh, my God, I'm 18 months into this thing and I don't have any money anymore.
A
And he's also using Heather's parents. Like, he's ingratiating himself with the parents as a way in with Heather. And Heather's mom, Joanne, is here. She's a doctor. I love her.
B
I. Joanne, let me. So, Joanne. So now this guy, when he's with Heather, his name is Jace, right? He has all these different names. Jason, Porter, whatever. But she was blown away by stories about his parents and grandparents. They were mesmerizing. And I'm like, what stories, you ask? His grandfathers fought in World War II. And I'm like, so did almost everyone's.
A
Grandfather, like my grandfather did. You're right. That's actually true.
B
I actually do have amazing stories from my grandfather. Like, he was forced into Mussolini's army and was a POW and then, like, taught the camp, had a cook and they were really nice to him. And then, like, the American guy in the military, like, sent them all this letter about how much he cared about them. It's a crazy God, but he was, like, forced into Mussolini's army as, like, a child. But, like, everyone's fascinated. And I'm like, raise your hand if a grandparent of yours did not fight in World War II. And if you didn't, like, fine. But it's not like, yeah, I was just sort of like. This is the point, though, is that, like, Joanne wanted to be fascinated because he.
A
I love that you hate Heather's mother. I didn't see that coming. I have a comment.
B
Couple of issues with her, which we will get to later. It's like, joanne, wake up.
A
You are just a bowl of surprises. I just love it. I just never know where we're going to go with these things.
B
Once we're there, you'll be like, oh, okay, that's.
A
Oh, yeah, you're right.
B
It'll be very clear.
A
That is what almost always happens.
B
Oh, right.
A
Yeah.
B
So cut to Kristen, Heather's friend. So this guy said he spent three years in China, which is amazing mostly because. Oh, my God. Kristen has also spent time in China as well. And when she tries to ask him about this, do you speak any Mandarin? Like, you were there for so long.
A
And he's just like, oh, I didn't need to. I just. I was just working all the time.
C
And I'm like, mm, okay. And then I'm like, oh, have you traveled around China?
B
Like, it's amazing. There's so much to see, you know? He said, no, I do nothing.
A
Like, I just went to work and.
C
Back home every single day.
B
I'm like, for two years. Seriously, for two years, you don't know. Like, pleasantries like, really, I'm a man.
A
And the fact that he also didn't invest in his own job, which is scamming people to learn a couple of phrases in Mandarin, is absolutely. Yeah. Like, that just shows you. Like, he's not even that good at his job.
B
No. And the thing is, is that, like, Jace is getting testy about it, and Kristen knows that something is up, but her friend really likes him. And again, like, no one is really thinking that it's going to end how it ends. We often, as people in the world, have to deal with our friends dating people that we're not crazy about. And I feel like she's like, this guy's full of shit. But, like, is it going to end in the way that it ends? No, it's just, like, I have to deal with a couple of different dinners that suck and whatever. She'll get over it.
A
And all the other friends and family love him. All the other friends, we see, like, pictures of barbecues, and he's going to the family's farm for the weekend, and everyone else loves him. But it's also, like, here's another lesson, fam. Can we listen to the Jillians? Can we listen to the. But. Because the thing is, like, you've never done anything crazy, and it's not like you've never, ever been wrong about somebody or whatever.
B
All the time about people. No, I'm always.
A
Yeah. Well, my point is just like, when you have that one friend, because we're going to meet another one later, who is just like, just loves you, it's just like. It's just saying, like, hey, like, can you listen to that one?
B
You.
A
You don't always have to take that friend's advice, but at least use it as a counterweight to everybody else in your life being, like, falling under the spell of the new person.
B
Yeah. And I wonder. They didn't mention this, but I wonder if he was trying to put a wedge in between Heather and Kristen. I wonder if on the way home from this dinner where he was getting testy with her and she was kind of pushing him about Mandarin or his time in China if he was just like. And I don't really like that Kristen person. I wonder, because that, of course, was gonna happen. I maybe didn't hear about it, but I'm positive. I mean, this happens all the time where the person. The truth teller, is often the person ostracized by the abuser.
A
Yes. Wait, we just got to the part with Heather's mom where I think is the first thing you really hate. For my birthday, he made a video for me. Happy 65th birthday to my favorite mother in law.
B
In law. You know, he was flirty and I was having a good time. The word flirting, I can't imagine. I put my mom and Mike in this position, and then I couldn't because it never would happen that my mom would be like, he's so. He's such a good flirt. My daughter's husband does have a good fight, doesn't he?
A
Yeah.
B
What are you saying to me?
A
Yeah. No, it's crazy. But you know what? The dad is here. Heather's dad is here to be like, I fudgeing. Didn't like the guy from the jump.
B
Ernest, come sit with me and Kristen. Ernest.
A
Yeah. 100.
B
He says like. Like. And he says things here that are. And again, this is really sad and painful for Heather's family to talk about, and Heather, too, because of the hindsight. But he says. He says, when I first met Jayce, I didn't have a strong feeling of liking him. I sensed there was something false. And then he says, on an emotional level, I think he was blank. And I thought that was a really interesting way to put that.
A
Yeah. But he also says, I couldn't tell Heather. And I'm like, I'm sorry. Maybe we'll get there when we get there. But when Daisy brings somebody home that I. There's a difference between not liking somebody just being like, I don't click with that person. And how Ernest the dad feels, which is like, I feel like there's something wrong with him. Like, I feel like there's something shady here. And maybe, like, this is when Ernest could have done some, like, evidence gathering or something that he doesn't actually do. And once again, this Jace is the bad guy. I'm not blaming the victims, but if I had a strong feeling, and maybe it comes from what we do for a living, but, like, if I had a strong feeling that this person that Daisy was dating was evil in Some way I would look into it and then bring it to my kid.
B
Yeah, yeah. I think in earnest position. And again, just my opinion, like, his daughter loves this guy, his wife loves this guy. It's kind of a headache when you're the odd person out. You gaslight yourself that it's not that bad, that like maybe the relationship isn't that bad. My daughter loves him, my wife loves him. And again, no one ever thinks it's going to end how it ends because a lot of times everyone just moves on and then the person in the shitty relationship is just left to deal with our trauma in our own way. But, you know, it doesn't end like this. And I think maybe it just would have been a major headache for this guy to speak up about it.
A
Yeah. And they probably didn't see them all that often, you know what I mean? It probably was just like one of those things.
B
And it's not like a 17 year old who's going to double down and be like, I'm going to date him even harder. She was 46 and made her choices. And I think, I think it's a little different when you're at this point in your life. Like Heather was where she was super successful and, you know, and Ernest is.
A
Probably exhausted, you know what I mean? He's probably just like, whatever, like, it's been a long life. She's 46. I did it. You know, when my kid gets to 46, I'm going to be like, daisy, you're on your own, girl. Like I don't have. You know what I mean? I mean, I'm tired. Daddy's tired.
B
I hope it happens a couple of years before that, at least for everyone.
A
I just mean like in terms of like me needing to like rescue her, I guess. I don't know. Ernest, I feel you. I get it. You're tired. Have a bourbon.
B
That's all good.
A
Yeah.
B
Travel down, girl.
A

Momentous Creatine is a new sponsor and it couldn't have come soon enough. I decided I was going to start taking creatine. I've been going to the gym, I've been actually lifting weights instead of just running for an hour. And I really was interested in creatine and momentous creatine like appeared in my life the minute I decided I was going to do this.
B
You know what's cool about that? So most supplements are like a guessing game. You never really know what's in them or if they're even tested or what's on the label. Like you can't really understand it. But not with Momentous.
A
No. And if you don't know about creatine, it isn't just for muscle gains. Does really do that, but it's essential daily fuel for your brain, body and long term performance. People think it's just for muscles, but it really does help with like clarity, focus and like your brain.
B
That was me. I thought it was like, well, I'm not trying to build a ton of muscle. What do I need this for? And I was wrong. Egg on my face.
A
For me, it's meant for me to be able to do that like last extra, like two or three reps that I couldn't do without it. And it has made a huge difference.
B
And also if you're travelers, I know a lot of people are their travel packs. They have this lemon flavor that's really great, and it helps make staying consistent effortless. They're naturally flavored, perfectly portioned, and easy to mix with water anytime, anywhere. No excuses.
A
Yeah. Also, each batch is independently tested for purity, safety, and label accuracy. And NSF certified for sport. That's why it's trusted by Olympic athletes, pro teams, and even the U.S. military. And this gay guy right here.
B
Yeah, well, I mean, most importantly, especially me. And so right now, Momentous is offering our listeners up to 35% off your first subscription order with promo code TCO.
A
Go to live momentous.com and use promo code TCO for up to 35% off your first Subscription Order.
B
That's live momentous.com and the promo code is TCO.
A
But only if you want to be a little bit smarter and do those extra two or three.
B
Well, that's it. I mean, that's the rule.
A
I don't want to.
B
I'm just saying. So March 9, 2020. Just calibrate that date in your mind.
A
Yeah.
B
This guy buys Heather plane tickets to Rome for her birthday. But, oh, no, no, it doesn't happen because there's suddenly a super important custody hearing for his little kid. And, you know, that wife's a nightmare. And if he doesn't go, it's like, really, really important. And now they can't go to Rome. Now, the thing is, little does this guy know that if he had just waited two more weeks to buy the tickets, he wouldn't have had to make anything up. But that's.
A
Oh, my God, you're so right. That's true.
B
I mean, that's not the point because he was never going to take her. And it was. It's all part of the lie to be like, oh, no, this important custody battle, like, this is proving that I really have a kid and this is all real.
A
And also, I have money enough to take you on a. On a trip to Italy. We just can'.
B
Exactly. Planting those seeds.
A
And Heather, by the way, to her.
C
Credit, she's like, well, I was pissed off and upset that our trip was getting postponed. I would never do anything to jeopardize him not being the dad that he wanted to be.
A
I love that he's a good dad, and I would never do anything to get in the way of that. Like, Heather is really in on, like, the family aspect of this, too.
B
And why wouldn't she be like, of course. These people do it so well to the people who are open to receiving it at that Time. That's just like all this because how many women are not sitting here?
A
Right, right, right, right. Because it's so underreported. And we're going to learn from a journalist later that, like, she reached out to a bunch of women who were like, never speak that name to me again.
B
Yeah.
A
I'm so traumatized by what I went through. I never want to think about him. And it was never reported.
B
And I'm mortified. I'm full of shame that this happened, which we have to start erasing, please.
A
Because people need to know how prevalent this is. It is rampant. This is rampant. Rampant. So March 2020, Covid hits the world, shuts down. They are locked in their 1,000 square foot apartment because he's moved in, by the way.
B
Best thing to happen to this guy, honestly.
A
Yes, totally. And he tells Heather that he loses his job because sales of cabinets came to a halt. Remember, they met because he came to install the cabinets in the bathroom badly.
B
Yeah.
A
And now he says he lost his job because sales came to a halt because of COVID Like, all of this. This Covid worked out great for the scammers.
B
Best thing that ever happened to him. And now he's, quote, renovating a nightclub in cash. And I'm like, renovating a nightclub during COVID for cabinets.
A
Like, you're a cabinet maker and you're doing that at a nightclub for cash. Okay.
B
And I know people used Covid times to do renovations that they hadn't done in a while, but this guy's full of shit, so.
A
But also, like, the COVID takes the bloom right off the road.
C
One of my biggest pet peeves with Jace was his sleeping habits. He would stay up really late, and then every afternoon he would take a nap. And it was so annoying.
A
She is so mad about it that she's taking pictures of him face planted down in the bed in his. His jeans.
B
Yeah.
A
I just love that she was mad enough about that to take a picture of it so she could, like, show him later.
B
Right. And also, he's filming all of this. And we have footage of Heather being like, hi, can you please move? Thanks. Like, I'm trying to do my thing. Like, get out of the way.
A
Well, and that's the thing. They're sharing her condo where she's teaching yoga virtually. Like, that's her job now. And she only gets to have the kitchen and half of the dining room table for her to do the work in the apartment that she's paying for, where he's living rent free. And he's like annoyed that she's taking up that, that much space.
B
Right.
A
Freeloaders need to be more grateful. You know what I mean?
B
That's what I mean though. That's why this is all like choreographed where it's only like you see each other for a little bit or you move in for a small amount of time because he can't really fake it. I mean, we will learn all the lies that he's doing during this time. But like, yeah, the mask has to fall a little bit and the true colors come out pretty quickly. Forced to be in a small space.
A
So September 2020, a house comes on the market in a place called Aurora, Ontario.
B
Yeah. So house Heather and everyone else is like, yeah, but it was a big sacrifice for Heather. She didn't, she wasn't like thrilled about doing it, but she did for him. And he of course needed to do it to be close to his son, so.
A
And they make a room for his son and like Heather goes all out on this room. She, Heather is like doing. She's like the best girlfriend you can imagine. She's doing everything she can. She gets clothes for the kid and toys for the kid. They make the bed for the kid. Like, Heather wants this home to be a home for, for all of Jason's family.
B
Right. And it's just interesting that she's the one doing everything for the room. Just saying.
A
Yeah.
B
We also get this amazing footage of deer running in the snow in their backyard. Like I was so beautiful. So, you know, Heather's getting antsy. Like, you know, real estate kind of dried up for her during COVID and she, she's bored. And Jace is like, you know what, Remember that cabinet company that I used to work for? The guy who runs it has a quote furniture and decor business and he's selling it. Why don't we, we go in a business together? And Heather's like, I was elated.
C
I thought, this is amazing. We can build a business together. And he told me what the offer was and I was like, well, that's a no brainer. Like, let's do it. But when push came to shove to actually pay for it, he didn't have any money to contribute.
A
They totally go into business together and he's got no money to put in. So it's all coming from Heather. That's very important.
B
Yeah. So then we get a quick video of Jason negging Heather telling her how old she is. But we'll get back to the negging and just like the abuse that's on camera momentarily.
A
Yes. It's June 2021. The world's opening back up, and Pesky Heather wants to go on that trip that she was given for her birthday to Italy.
B
She's like, so Italy?
A
She says that he's become, like, not only is the Italy trip not happening, he's become completely noncommittal about everything in their life together. She's noticing, like, the bloom is really off the roads. No longer are they having sex twice in one night in two different rooms, you know?
B
Right. Because he can't feed his addiction of doing this to other people as much.
A
Right.
B
Anymore.
A
Yes.
B
And he's also doing the same thing with her family. Like, he won't. They're at some dinner with these, like, crazy rich friends that they have. And Jace is so jealous and insecure that he has to, like, be aggressive and rude and ruin the dinner. And I'm like, well, that train's never late.
A
And also, it's further to what you were saying before about how you can't keep that mask on all the time. You know what I mean? You would think this would be his opportunity to be like, I'm one of them, you know, because, like, that's what they think of Jason. He came from this, like, you know, $300,000 a year job. He's buying her all these fancy things. He's got the motorcycle. Like, why is he jeal of the rich people? Aren't you one of them, Jace?
B
Exactly. Also, Heather's mom is starting to notice.
A
I was at the farm, and in.
B
My closet, I had a drawer, and.
C
It had the jewelry I wore kind of every day.
B
And I discovered that all my little.
A
Jewelry bags were empty.
B
All of her jewelry is just disappearing before her very eyes.
A
I just realized the other thing. I now know why we also hate Heather's mom. We'll get to her in a second.
B
I know you. I know you would.
A
I would, Yeah. I can't believe I forgot that. We'll get. Yeah, we'll get there in a second. But Leslie, another one of the girlfriends, also loses a Cartier watch valued at 31 grand. You've never lost it. The $31,000 asset that you own. And you have that boyfriend that you've been ignoring the red flags about. You didn't lose the watch. You didn't lose it.
B
But these are the types of women that he's targeting. Someone.
A
Yes.
B
Can, like, lose a Cartier watch and not immediately file, like, can't you report that or something to just be like, I lost a $30,000. No.
A
Why are watches, $30,000. I will never understand. It just tells you the time. I will walk around behind you all day for 31 grand and tell you the time. Whenever you want to know.
B
Rolex is, like, 80. Like, yes. That easy.
A
Was it you? Somebody was just telling me. You can't just get a Rolex. You have to, like, go into a Rolex and, like, basically apply. It's like a Birkin bag. Like, you have to be given ugly ass bags. I know, but you have to, like, be given the honor of getting a role. And then once they approve you, you're on, like, a wait.
B
Wait list for watch. Everyone's an idiot.
A
I know.
B
Speaking. I mean, look. So Heather's mom keeps all of her jewelry hidden in a, quote, unlocked safe.
A
That's gonna be the name of my next book. Patrick Hines, an unlocked safe.
B
Then what is the point? It's just where you keep it. It's just another.
A
Exactly.
B
And I know it's like family and you're on your farm and whatever. I get it. You're not. Like, my mom wouldn't lock up her jewelry when Mike's there, but she also wouldn't be. Like, he said he's so good at flirting. I loved when he flirted with me. Like, what? It's an unlocked. Then why have the safe? Just leave it on your fucking front.
A
Lawn at this point with a sign that says free jewelry?
B
Yeah, like, take one. Like a. Like a bowl of candy on Halloween.
A
Like, yes, yes, I agree, but. So they're asking Jace if he's seen it, because apparently Jace is spending a lot of time alone at the farm. So Heather and Jace tear the place apart, and they don't find anywhere Leslie, who lost the Cartier watch. Same story. She and Jace are tearing her apartment apart looking for this $30,000 watch. It is absolutely. Heather's mom certainly did not suspect her boyfriend, Jace.
B
I had this very sick feeling that.
C
The cleaning lady had stolen it. And I approached her. Would you happen to know where some.
B
Of my jewelry went? Did you see it? And she said, jace took it. And I said, he couldn't. He wouldn't. And she got so angry with me.
A
She quit by my saying, absolutely not. The cleaning lady quit. No, the rest of that sentence was, jace did not take it. How dare you, My lover. And you definitely fudgeing took it. Cleaning lady.
B
Right. And honestly, good on that cleaning woman for getting so angry that she quits and walks out of there. Good for you. You should get out of there. You should run screaming from that farm.
A
Right.
B
Also, Get a grip. Joanne, Wake up.
A
I know you hate you. I know. No, I mean, that is so fudgeing garbagey to the point that, like, Joanne, you shouldn't be in this documentary. Like, if you like, that is a. That is a horrible, horrible story that really tells us something about you. And like, you should. You should have refused to be in this documentary if it meant telling that story.
B
Now you know why. Ernest was like, I don't know if I should even bring it up. Like, how many headaches does this poor guy have to deal with on a regular basis?
A
Totally, totally travel down. All right, girl, Pretty Litter is back. Time for a macaroni update.
B
Let me tell you, macaroni's doing great. He's so cute. He's growing up to, like, a really big, healthy boy or, you know, medium sized healthy boy. But here's the thing. So my best friend, friend Ashley uses Pretty Litter. And part of the reason why we know her cat Macaroni is so healthy is because they're using Pretty Litter.
A
Yeah. And that's the thing. Pretty litter helps monitor your cat's health, testing acidity and alkalinity levels and the visible presence of blood in your cat's urine. Like, it turns a different color if it's time to go to the vet.
B
Yeah. And it's so easy to get, it ships free right to your door. So you're not like, lugging these heavy bags around. There's no last minute pet store runs. And my favorite part for, you know, on behalf of other people, sure. They have these crystals that are safe for cats and people like me, which means when I go over to Ashley's apartment, it doesn't smell like she has a cat.
A
That's the thing. It's got that advanced odor control now. I had cats for years, and making the switch to Pretty Litter changed everything. Like you always say, you get nose blindness.
B
You forget you do. And it's not your fault. No, it's not the cat's fault.
A
With Pretty Litter, the odor is gone.
B
There you go. So right now, save 20% on your first order and get a free cat toy@pretty litter.com TC TCO.
A
That's prettylittleitter.com TCO to save 20 on your first order and get a free cat toy.
B
Prettylitter.com TCO.
A
You don't even have to be Macaroni's mom to do this.
B
You don't. But I gotta tell you one more thing.
A
Yeah.
B
Pretty litter cannot detect every feline health issue or prevent or diagnose diseases. A diagnosis can only come from a licensed veterinarian. Terms and conditions apply. See site for details.
A
I'm glad you're here with the rules.
B
Some people just can't be happy for the free cat toy. Do you know what I mean?
A
I know.
B
Anyway, bye. We love you.
A
We love you. So we're back with Tiffany. Real quick. Remember, she was the one that lost the weight during the gastric bypass. We think she's amazing, Tiffany. She hasn't, like, connected with Jason a while. She sees him on Facebook. She sends him a friend request. He immediately starts texting her.
B
Right. So back with Heather. Remember that new business that Jace told her about, but he doesn't have any funds for. But Heather's doing it herself. The new business is starting to pick up.
C
But I noticed that even though there was money coming in, as much money was coming in was quickly going out. I found all these weird graphic receipts. You know, groceries, fast food, gas, gas, gas. Like, he was just spending all of the money on living.
B
He's spending Heather's money all day, every day, and he's doing nothing to be sneaky about it. So Heather is pissed. This guy's spending all her money. He's getting on her nerves. They're fighting all the time. They're not even sleeping together anymore. Like, there's not. Heather's like, what are you. What have you done for me lately except steal all my money?
A
He's also not coming home at night. Like, we see texts between Heather and Jace. She's asking him about the money. He's like, I can't talk right now. And then she says to him, are you coming home tonight? And I'm like, where? So this is where. When he's obviously out dating other women. Where is he telling her that he is?
B
And he'll just be like, I'm working, but also the working where? I know. But he's probably also blaming it on the son who. It's been three years. Heather has not met the sun. That adorable, sweet room that she decorated with love has been vacant. She has not met the sun. And that's another big point of contention.
A
And Kristen is clock. Kristen, the spiritual advisor slash bestie is clocking this. And she's like, kristen says he kept.
B
Telling Heather, I can't trust you around my son. I don't know what you're gonna say. You could say the wrong thing. And then it's gonna screw up my court case, and I'm never going to see my kid again.
C
And I'm like, come on.
A
Like, that's Crazy girl, open your eyes. That is insane. That can't be real.
B
Now, even worse than that, this guy is filming the abuse that he is inflicting on Heather. So, for example, in the middle of a fight, again, they're in Canada, and in the middle of a fight, he pushes Heather outside in the freezing cold, no shoes, no coat, nothing. And he's laughing and he's like, have you learned your lesson? And he's like, heather has a hothead and she needs to cool off. Like, what do we do with people who are hotheads? She is sitting outside up against the wall, trying not to touch the snow and ice with her bare feet in her fucking pajama pants.
A
I want to slow down on this for one second because I think it is really generous of Heather to have shared this footage. I agree, because I think it is so important that we don't know what Heather was telling herself in that moment. My guess is it's only bad sometimes. This is the first time he's ever done this. Or this is only the fourth time he's ever done this. He's not always late like this. He. I was so moved by this moment and the fact that Heather shared this video for the documentary because I think it is so important that people see that this happens to other people.
B
Yeah. I think the. The most important thing on top of that is that he's masking it with laughter. Which brings me to the next point. And it's going to sound like I'm making a joke. I am not. Because I hate tickling so much. I'm the biggest wet blanket about it. And I just. I will tell you something funny, but let me just get through the hard part. But there's this footage again. He's filming all of this. He's tickling he. This. I couldn't watch it. I watched it once, and then the next seven times I watched this thing, I had it on mute and couldn't watch it.
C
Let's say I was lying in the bed or lying on the couch. He would sit down on me, right on my diaphragm. Then he would tickle me with these, like, fingers that hurt the whole while he's videoing it.
B
I've never.
A
That's a really odd pitch.
C
And I'd be like, I can't pretend, breathe.
A
I can't breathe.
C
And he'd be laughing at me because I'd be turning bright red.
B
She's telling him she can't breathe, but because of the way your body reacts to someone sitting on you or Tickling. It appears like she's laughing. Like she. The word I guess you can use is laughing, but she's not. Like she has no control over what her body is doing. So it's like all fun and games though, right? Because she's laughing. And he will use that because he's laughing when he says she needs to go outside and cool off. Hahaha. So he's using the laugh. Laughter to mask it and trick her into thinking it's not that serious because he's laughing and then he's doing it about a million times more with this tickling thing. There is a line, here's where it gets funny. If you want to laugh at me, you can. And I, I hope you do. I encourage it.
A
Yeah.
B
There's a line from the Simpsons I hate tickling so much where the homer is tickling his dad, Grandpa Simpson. And finally the dad's like, stop it. It's a form of abuse. And Mike and I always reference it because when it comes to tickling, I'm just like the biggest wet blanket. I'm such a downer about it. But when someone, someone like says something negative about tickling and I feel so seen and I'm like, yes, it's a form of abuse, like they said in the Simpsons. Like I felt so seen by Grandpa Simpson in that moment. But this is horrible.
A
But the other thing is that we learned that sometimes the parents are there. The parents see this happening and the dad is like, I would tell him to stop. And the mom was like, I was afraid he was going to kill her. And I was like, I, this I don't understand. This is the kind of shit I will never tolerate. If I saw somebody sitting on Daisy, tickling her like this and her saying stop, stop, stop. I would ri. I would be that person who. Herculean strength of a mother pulling a car off of a baby carriage. I would throw that person out the window. So fudgeing hard. The fact that the parents describe watching it and then not doing something about it makes me crazy.
B
I don't know when they saw it though.
A
Yeah, I don't know. Maybe they look at the videos, I don't know. But like, but if 6 year old.
B
Heather was like, mom, I'm having a ball, it's so much fun. I don't worry about me, it's fine. Don't be so sensitive.
A
I guess I just want to normalize like pointing out the red flags in general, you know, like dad, you saw other red flags. Talk to her about them then. This is Happening. Talk to her. You don't like the guy anyway. And if Heather says, mom, dad, it's me, like, it's either us or not me. Fine. At that point, learn to live with it. But before that point, I think it's okay to say, like, I don't. I don't. Like, there's something here. I just want to be on the record.
B
Yeah. Tell the me in your life. Tell the Kristen. Yes.
A
Yes.
B
Find yourself a Cassandra and never let her go. But here's the catch. You got to listen to us, right?
A
Yes.
B
That's the. And that's the trade off.
A
And that's the thing. And sometimes, to the use of the world, I have to say, sometimes we're not going to. And you have to love us anyway. You know what I mean?
B
I know. I'm just saying, like, we all want to do is help. We're. It's not malicious. And, like, the abuser is the malicious one. We're just telling you what we see. That's all.
A
Let me look you in the eye and say, I learned the lesson the hard way, girl.
B
I know. And I'm not saying it's. I don't think it's easy. I'm just saying, like, when we're offering you our services.
A
Yes, I know. You know? Yeah.
B
So everything's falling apart. The fighting, the money, the abuse. He's leaving for days at a time. She hasn't met his kids. She'd say, are you cheating?
C
I confronted him. Are you seeing someone? Have you met someone? He looked at me with like, no. How dare you say that? I'm like, well, I don't know. Where have you been? And I think he even said at one point, like, you don't believe me? Do you want to smell my dick? And I was like, no, I don't want to smell your dick. Like.
B
And his response would be like, no, Want to smell my dick? And she'd be like, are you kidding me? First of all, no. Second of all, grow up.
A
Yes.
B
But Heather, she confides in a friend about this because it's, like, too much to ignore, and she can't really hide it anymore. And she starts giving her friend some examples. And her friend is like, girl, Google gaslighting, and it'll tell you everything you need to know. And Heather does. And she's like, oh, there's a word for this. Like, I'm not crazy.
A
We see the definition. The definition is when someone leads you to question your own reality, leading to confusion and dependency upon the abuser.
B
Yeah.
A
And it's like, Heather's finally in a place where she's able to be distanced enough from him to say, like, that is what's happening to me.
B
Absolutely what's happening. So while she's on online. Yeah, it's like, heather, you can be honest with us, girl.
A
100.
B
She's like, somehow I find myself in Jace's Gmail account, which I honestly, I made a wrong turn on the Internet somewhere and ended up in his inbox. And I'm like, girl, he's an asshole and he's been torturing you. Like, just say you were snooping to get to the bottom of what is causing this. Like, we'd all be on your side. Yeah, that guy.
A
100%. Yes.
B
So what she finds is insane, because she opens his Gmail account and it's like, you've been matched. You've been been matched. It's hundreds, thousands of emails with women for years. He's having entire relationships the way Heather thought they were having a relationship. He's on apps I didn't even know existed. Bad.
A
Never heard of him. Yes, yes.
B
Like, are these.
A
I know. Never heard of them. But eventually, you know, like, he's on the other, like, Match, Tinder, Bumble, Hinge. Like, he's on the big ones. But, like, at some point, you got to go to something where they're not, you know, banning and blocking you all the time or whatever, you know?
B
So in everyone, we kind of get this, like, round robin of every woman that we've met so far has had it and starts googling or come or start snooping or figure something out. And in all of the snooping and in all of the researching, one name keeps popping up for all of these women independently. And the name is Jason Porter, to which they all say, who the fudge is Jason Porter. Hence the name of the doc. So when they look up that name called a friend of mine and I said, look this name up. He had things going back to when he was 20 years old. He was a criminal, he was a thief, he committed fraud, he was a burglar. They find this criminal record that goes back decades. Like, scary shit.
A
Yes. And, you know, it comes back to Heather, and she's just like, heather, remember, she's been living with him, supporting him. She started a business with him. She's been preparing to be the stepmother to his child. And she's now going through all of these messages, and her mind, her mind is just absolutely spinning.
B
So she goes to BFF Kristen, who knew he was a liar right away. The minute he couldn't speak Mandarin, she was like, he's an asshole and a liar. Like, fuck this guy.
A
Yes.
B
And once Kristen is told by Heather, like, what Heather found, Kristen's like, okay, this is really dangerous because this is clearly his full time job. He's a predator. He's really scary. Like, this is bad Heather. And we have to act accordingly because.
A
Kristen jumps in the car, she's at heather's house in 30 seconds to go through all of this with her.
B
Right? And this is where they find the family court documents. So there was a custody battle, but it was over years ago.
A
Yes. Because now not only are they looking at the online stuff, they're going through the son's bedroom. They find a secret fucking drawer they didn't know about. They find a bag with all of his shit in it. And like, this is where it's good that he doesn't come home for days at a time because they've got all the time in the world to figure this out now.
B
And then Heather finds the receipts from all the jewelry he stole and then sold immediately. Also, remember that time I said receipts?
A
Yes, I do.
B
Even when I was writing it, I was like, am I spelling it right? Am I going to say it right on this episode? Is it really receipts?
A
Like, no, we've forgiven you. You're the hook for that one threw.
B
Me for a loop.
A
One of the receipts he finds is from her mother's Tiffany ring that we now know he stole, that he helped.
B
Them all look for as he was flirting and blaming the cleaning woman.
A
And Heather is like, now she's sobbing in her interview with us. She's saying, like, she, part of her died in that moment. She didn't know what to do. She didn't want to. I mean, her entire life is turned upside down in 30 seconds. And I, I can't imagine being her in that moment because now not only, like, in her brain is she thinking, I've got to tell everybody in my life. Oh, my God, this is so shameful and awful. He also lives with me. We also own business together. He's also been spending all of my money. She's got to make some very important decisions very fast.
B
Yeah, her head is spinning. But in the middle of this, as her head is spinning, this asshole calls her.
A
Yes.
B
And she's like, she pulls a Diane Weiss in the birdcage. I don't even know who you are.
A
Yes.
B
She kind of, in that moment, shows her hand completely and instantly he knows that she's onto him. And he, in the moment, like, she's on the computer and he's somewhere on the phone.
C
And I was kicked out of the Gmail accounts.
B
I'm kicking.
C
Kicked out of the dating app. And then he texts me, I'll be home in 20 minutes.
B
She's kicked out of everything she was looking at.
A
Yes.
B
This is really bad, though, because he's a violent guy with nothing to lose and he knows that she's onto him and he knows exactly where she is. And that is terrifying.
A
Yes. And they call 91 1. Kristen and Heather call 911. We start to hear the call. He texts her, I'll be home in 20 minutes. Now Heather is. Is frantic. Kristen is calm. But like, this 911 call is harrowing. They're locking up. They're Right. And we. They're. They're recording this on their phone. So we see video from this moment. They are running around the house, locking all the doors, locking all the windows, but it doesn't matter. He's got keys.
B
He's got keys. So that's how the first episode ends. Now, episode two, the Reckoning. We're picking up with a 911 call where Kristen is like, my best friend's boyfriend is a convicted con artist. He's a scary nightmare. He's a fucking sociopath with anger issues. He knows that we know. Like, that is very scary. The woman on the other end of the phone is amazing. She's so engaged. I'm really scared. They keep calling, just don't answer. I'm not, I'm not. I'm just. Okay, take a deep breath. That's why we're going to send police out there. Stay in the house.
A
Keep the doors locked.
B
Everything is locked. Okay, just take a deep breath. As scary as this was, it was a very like, oh, women. Like, she was so engaged with them and made them feel so seen and heard and was just like, virtually holding their hand, hands through this figuratively. And I just loved it.
A
And it's so sad and scary because they know he's coming home. They are hiding in the closet. He opens the door. It feels like Jason Voorhees has showed up. It's absolutely terrifying. Kristen stays in the closet. And God love Heather, she doesn't care at this point. She runs out of the closet and just starts screaming the accusations at him.
B
And now remember where I was like, this is terrifying. This guy has nothing to lose. Egg on my face.
C
Because now I just come running out screaming. I know your name is Jason Porter. I know you've been stealing from my mom. And he just looked at me and was like, so who cares? And he went and made himself a coffee.
B
He starts making himself a cup of coffee. And he. It becomes clear instantly that he always. Every single time he does this, he knows he's going to be caught. That's why he has so many irons in the fire. Like, he knows that everything has a time limit. And when it happens, he's like, okay, Heather's done, like, onto the next source. Like, that's it.
A
Because after she is screaming and crying and saying, I know what you did and I know you stole my mom's jewelry, he says, so what? Who cares? And then the fucking cops show up. And it is like it's out of a badly written abuse movie, because the cops are. Yes. Jason meets the cops at the door, offers them a cup of coffee. They're like, no, thanks, bro.
B
Thank you so. But how kind are you?
A
But what a sweetie pie.
B
And the belt in those jeans.
A
I know you're a little flirty, but.
B
It'S like, hi, I don't feel safe.
A
And they're like, sorry. And then she's like, can I get a restraining order? Nope. There's nothing I can do if you don't feel safe. The cops tell her, you need to leave because he is your cohabitator and he has every right to be here.
B
And he makes one hell of a cup of coffee, so.
A
And look at the button, those jeans. I know. The towel bar is a little crooked. We can fix that.
B
Like, what is this, America? Get it? Canada?
A
Honestly? Truly. And like, Heather's mind is once again spinning. They're like. She's like, I have to leave, but I have a basement full of inventory that this fudgeing guy made me buy. If I leave, he's going to back up a U Haul truck and take all of it. And the cops laid on the law. You can only take what is legally yours.
C
They leave, and Jace then went in to the office, and he took a cable and wrapped it around the door so I couldn't come in. And he proceeded to erase the computer.
A
He completely wipes the computer. And then calmly, as if nothing happened.
B
Up and walks out as mysteriously as he appeared. I also want to say about the restraining order. The cops say, well, well, no, he hasn't physically hurt you. And I'm like, but hasn't he? Like, he's forcing her to be out in the freezing cold. The tickling videos. And I'm saying to you again, like, that's why he uses tickling because it's laughing. And that's why it, like, doesn't look that bad to the cops who really love that cup of Joe.
A
Yes.
B
So it's like she's just put in this position and this is. It's not just like the. The. The Internet cons. It's not just the romance cons. It's that, like, women are not believed that they're being abused in a very real traumatic way. And because the cops, don. See a black eye, they think it's not real. And that's just true.
A
No. And, like, this is where Heather is. Like, it's all coming crashing down on her. Now that she has one second to think about it, she's like, everything in my life for the last three years has been fake. The Italy trip, the holiday, the wedding we were planning in our backyard next summer, being a stepmom, none of it was real. And like, the absolute mind of, like, can you imagine that anything is real in your life after that?
B
It's incredibly destabilizing because you learn that.
A
You can't trust yourself. Or at least in that moment, you feel like you've learned that you can't. You can't trust yourself.
B
Yeah. Like, he spent all this time gaslighting her, and then she's sort of gaslighting herself, but she's not sure. And then it's the shame of, how did I not see it? And then you kind of can't believe that this happened to you. And it's like, wait, but I. And the intimacy of everything, like, letting a person like that into your life, into your bed, into your business, into all of it. And then you sort of. It feels like you're going in reverse. Like you're kind of thinking like, every day, how did I get here? But you start with today and then the day. You know what I mean? Like, you're just like, how did the this happen? As you are, like, levitating and not fully present.
A
Yep. And so she moves into her parents condo that they've bought but haven't moved into yet. The dad, of course, is like, well, I fudgeing let her down. I knew the whole time and I didn't say anything. The mom files a claim for all of her missing stuff, which makes Heather have to go down to the police and, like, do a full reporting. So we see some of, like, Heather's interview with the cops.
B
And so, like, she shows them everything she has because this guy wasn't hiding it. Like, all the bank statements at least. But at the same time, the cops Are like, sorry, the bank statements say who charged what, so there's no proof it was him. Really? Because it was her card. It's not like they were sharing an account.
A
Right. And this guy that she thought was an amazing dad, she learns, I found.
C
That he's been on welfare our entire relationship. That he's denied a passport because he's so far behind in child support payments with his first wife. And I didn't even realize he had two kids with her.
A
He has no custody rights to his kids because he's so far behind with child support payments, which, by the way, compounds what a shitty fucking person he is.
B
Oh.
A
Because he's been stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from these people, but doesn't bother to make it getting child support payments. Unbelievable, right? Because he took at least what is my dad.
B
Oh, my God. Remember, he's dead now, but this guy took at least $250,000 from Heather's family. Between the money and the jewelry, like, at least. So it's October 2021. Heather is on a mission because she fudge this guy. But God damn it, if he's going to do this to somebody else not on watch.
A
And that's what I love. The reason we're here, the reason this documentary was made, was because of what Heather did. And a lot of, like we've been saying, a lot of people are too embarrassed to report it. I. But I urge you to if you can. Heather's like, fudge that. Not only am I reporting this, I'm giving every document I'm telling every story I'm going to. Like, I'm shouting my story from the rooftops to help other women.
B
And because the laws are what they are, she doesn't have too much to work with just yet. So we get onscreen text that says, based on evidence Heather provided, Jason Porter, also known as Jace Perotti, was charged with theft over $5,000 in possession of property obtained by crime. If convicted, he could face a sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison. But that's all they have to work with now.
A
Yes. And now we. Another badass reporter. We've had so many of these reporters doing the good work. Her name is Jane. She covers criminal justice, policing, and intimate partner violence. And I was like, what an intersection of shit to cover.
B
I know.
A
You know, because it means that Jane connects the dots. You know what I mean?
B
Yes.
A
That, like, criminal justice has everything to do with intimate partner violence and the policing or the lack thereof, or what happens when the police show up and say they can't do anything for, you know, like, what a great beat, Jane, we love you.
B
So she's like, this guy's been doing this since the 90s by the way. She dives in. In 2012, Jason pled guilty to 15.
A
Offenses including fraud under $5,000 using a credit card obtained through fraud and breaking and entering. And he was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison.
B
He was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison. He's been doing this like relentlessly for decades. And when Jane tries to reach out to people who, who are his victims, surv drivers or people connected to him, this is when they're like, either they don't respond or they're like, how the fuck did you get my number? Don't you ever come near me with that guy's name in your mouth ever again. Goodbye. Click.
A
And that just speaks to the trauma that these people suffer when this happens to them. Because, because a reporter is on it. It means that there is a possibility of getting some justice. They are so traumatized by their experience that that isn't even worth it to them to deal with. They just never want to think about this person ever again.
B
Yeah.
A
And we're going to be told by all of these women that Jayce is a special kind of criminal because not only is he doing all of this con artist shit where he's getting all this money and stealing all this stuff, he does not care about the emotional damage he is wreaking on the lives of these people. He is literally promising his life to multiple women, you know, getting into their psyches, finding women who are in emotional states and just wrecking their self worth, their lives and their careers. It is so mean, for lack of a better word. He has no care for what he's doing to these people.
B
Yeah, it's incredible. Incredibly cruel. And it's very specifically cruel because it's very specific to the person. For example. Right. So like in 2007 when his wife files for divorce, in the aftermath of that he, this guy, this, that we're talking about would fo. He photoshopped a picture of a bruise on one of the kids faces to try to make the ex wife look like a monster.
A
Yeah.
B
So that is a very spit. Like he could, he wouldn't do that to Heather, but he would tickle Heather in a way that is torturous. Is that a word? Yeah, but you know like it's very specifically cruel to the person that's in his sights.
A
We even meet a guy that he was in prison with who's like, he's like the worst of the worst. Like, I was in prison with murderers and rapists, and this guy was as bad as them.
B
And, like, at the time in 27, there's footage of him on the news, like, warning women on the dating sites about him. Like, one of the women that were with shares the story about when she confronted him. And it's the same thing, like, super nonchalant, like, no remorse. And he's like, you're not in love with me. You're in love with the character I created.
A
Yes.
B
But she ends up like, she always. Oh. She's like, I almost felt bad for him because he's so fucking lost and such a loser. And she's like, do you, like, can I drive you somewhere? Like, I know that we're over, but, like, how the fuck do you get out of my house immediately, if not sooner?
A
And that woman is Leslie. And she's also saying that, like, he's asking her to take him to a part of town that she calls, like, a bad part of town.
B
And it became apparent to me that he knew the area very well. I said, well, you need groceries. Where's the grocery store? He knew exactly where it was. I saw the food that he picked. He was buying cheesies and pop and bologna. And I'm thinking, this is the gourmet cook. I don't know who this guy is.
A
This is his actual home base when he's not living in the con.
B
And, like, he knows exactly where to go. He gets the essentials. He's like, I'll make a right here. Here's the CD motel. And the point is, he has a routine. He does this a lot. He knows what to do in between each grift. That's why we got that story. Because he's like, oh, yeah, make a right at the fucking whatever. And like, Leslie couldn't believe how he wasn't apologizing. He wasn't even embarrassed about it. He was just like, this is what I do now.
A
And, like, that's why I also say, google everybody. You know, if you meet somebody, Google every. I know he changed his name. Who knows what would have come up? But, like, do a little, like, if we're. We are all now an Internet based culture where that's how we meet a lot of people. Google people. Google everyone.
B
Yeah. Yes. So enter Desiree.
A
Love her.
B
She's a hospitality manager. And she says right away, jace took my best friend of 25 years. And I'm like, oh, my God, Desiree, come sit with me. And Kristen and earnest. So I know she's, like, my best friend. We will learn. Her name is Jen.
A
Yes.
B
Used to be so full of life and energy. She was so fun. She was kind. And he destroyed her from the inside out.
A
Yeah. And, like, they were so bonded, Desiree and Jen. They had gone through divorces together. They'd been there for the birth of each other's kids. She says we were holding each other up, and we were figuring out life together. And all of that changed when Jace came into our lives. Lives.
B
Yeah.
A
And we learned that Desiree met Jason the summer of 2021. And he's telling her and Jen. He's born in Italy. He lives just down the street from them. He owns a furniture company. Come down. Take anything you want.
B
That's Heather's.
A
This is Heather's company. It's Heather's. Shit. He's inviting other women, who, by the way, we just learned are Heather's neighbors, to come down to Heather's house and, like, rob her, essentially.
B
Yeah. And he moves in with Jen, Desiree's best friend, after two weeks, and she goes, that's how fucking good this guy is. Yeah.
A
And we get so much from Desiree about, like, how obsessed he gets Jen to become with her so quickly. They're texting all the time. I'm with Jen. She won't even pay attention to me. She's texting with him. They're at lunch, and they're. And he's taking a video of her just, like, basically talking about how in love with him that she is. And Desiree is saying, it kills me.
B
Because she's so happy. And he's just going like this. And here's the candy. I just fed you the poison.
A
It is so obvious that he is playing her and just giving her everything she needs to fall for this hook, line, and sinker. And he's like. And, like, let this be another lesson. Like, Desiree describes her best friend, Jen as any one of us would describe any one of ourselves. Strong, smart, independent. Not the kind of person who would fall for something like this. But we are all vulnerable to this.
B
Kind of thing because she says, that's when the Jace show began. And then it's all about him and how he. He can manipulate Jen into sort of, like, losing sight of herself and just becoming everything he needs until he sucks her dry and moves on to Heather or someone else.
A
And I just want to say, like, reporter Jane is back to tell us how prolific these romance scams are. Just listen to these numbers. In 2022, romance scams accounted for over $59 million in reported losses in Canada. And she says that's just the ones who we know about. It is so underreported, you could probably triple that number. That's like hundreds of millions of dollars at least.
B
At least. Even, like, the ones who are like, can I get 20 bucks here and there? Like, that shit up, you know?
A
Yes.
B
So Heather is with us. She shows us her box of evidence. She has documents, she has jewelry. She's telling us that, like, he would just hand her a necklace. Like, no card, no box. Yeah, like, that necklace was on someone's neck yesterday, so. Or that morning, she said she found.
A
This evidence all over the house, under the bed in a fake drawer. Like, you name it, we found it. And, yeah, like, if your partner is giving you gifts that don't come wrapped in a box and they're super expensive, like, that is a random.
B
Did you find this on the street? Like, if it's cool and I love it, like, let's disinfect it or whatever. But to just be like, here is.
A
Here's a Cartier watch that's worth $30,000 in a bag. No.
B
And don't those things, like, the $30,000 watches, again, I'll never know. But don't they come with, like, a certificate of authenticity or something?
A
Hundred percent extent they do. Yes. Yes.
B
And it's like, it's still warm because it was on Leslie's wrist an hour ago. He also had steroids, which is. We just breeze right by her own credit card. She's like, oh, there's a MasterCard I thought I lost. Yeah, it's just, like, in his shit.
C
This is my missing MasterCard I found hidden under the bed. Prepaid Visa. Prepaid Visa. Prepaid Visa. Prepaid Visa. I'm sure he used those to take women out on dates and probably to make sure the charges never showed up on my graphics office business account.
A
He was clearly using these to take other women out for dinner. And, like, so they wouldn't appear on my statement. Heather is such a detective. She finds a picture of Leslie's missing Cartier watch and shows it to Leslie. And it's like, is this your watch? And she's like, that's not only my watch. That's my couch. Yeah, like, he took that picture in front of my couch.
B
And this is when Heather's like, hey. I mean, talking to you. The. The audience member saying, like, hey, if you're watching this and you're seeing anything that's yours, I'd be happy to give it back to you. Like, just get in touch with me. Like, she just is doing the good work for herself, for others, and, like, see a lot. Now all these women are in touch, being like, oh, my God, that's my watch. Like, well, so I love that Heather's like, reach out to me. You are not alone. You have a community of people. I'll give you back whatever your. Your possession is. But also, if you just want to talk about what we went through, that's.
A
Cool, too, and that is really important. So Desiree is back. She's Jen's best friend. And Desiree tells us, here's what happened. Jen posted a picture of her and Jace at a Blue Jays game. There was a mutual friend of Jen and Heather who saw the picture. So after Jason, Heather break up, Jen posts this picture. A friend of Heather sees it and calls Jen's family and is like, hey, this guy is a scammer. He just ruined my friend's life. He was with her for three years. Totally destroyed her. And so Jen's family, within hours, Desiree tells us they do a full Internet search. They've got his mug shots, his CBC report, all of the information about who Jace really is. And Jen's family confronts Jen and stages a full intervention, showing her all of the evidence.
B
And they kick him out of the house.
A
Yes. And Desiree is saying she's there for this, of course. And she's like, heather was screaming as if somebody killed her.
B
She's devastated. And what she's devastated about is that her family would do this to her and Jace. She's not devastated that Jace has a mugshot and all of this shit. She's mad at her family. And I'm like, this guy's really fudgeing good. And he works really fast to turn her against all of these people. Not just the best friend, but her family and everyone else. Like, he. He really had his hooks on her.
A
This is when Desiree reaches out to Heather for help. She DMs are on Facebook. Heather responds immediately. I don't know who you are, but I'm sorry this happened to you, and I believe you. I could sob. Desiree says Heather did every single thing she could do to save Jen. Offered conversations. If you need anything, I am here. I know what you're going through, and.
B
Like, here's what helped me. Maybe it'll help you, but if it doesn't, let's find the thing that does help you. Like, you can talk to me about this. You don't have to Google you Don't you know what I mean? Like, this is very real. And we went through this together. And Heather is treating it in some of the screenshots we see as kind of light. Like, not like not wanting to rock the boat. You know, you see a squirrel and you're like, that squirrel's so cute. I want to look at it for a few more seconds before it scurries away. I don't want to make any sudden movements.
A
Yes.
B
Does anyone else do that about squirrels? I think they're so cute. But so. But she's treating it as like, oh my God. Like, laughter got me through it. Lol. Like, trying to make it seem like it's not. Like, the water's fine. Jen, like, we're not going to make. It's no big deal. Okay? It's like. It's like throwing a blanket on a couch. It's no big deal.
A
Right? It's no big deal. Like throwing a blanket on a couch. But Des says, like this. Like, there was a moment where it seemed like they were going to get Jen back. But then Jace turns it up a notch, sends Jen, oh, my God, this is so diabolical. Sends Jen a picture of him drinking bleach, saying he's going to kill himself. And then Jen gets a voicemail from, quote, Jason's stepfather, saying, hi, Jennifer, it's Mike. Listen, I know this has been really hard on you. I'm not really sure how I can help with your situation. The only thing I'm sure of is that he loves you more than anything in the world and he's having a tough time dealing with the separation.
B
Oh, my God. This is the fakest I've ever heard in all my life.
A
You gotta go see him. He's in the icu. He's trying to kill himself. Heather finds a receipt of Jace paying a voice actor to record that message for him to send to Jack.
B
And so I was like, what did he say to the actor? Like, what does the actor think he's doing? I took a screenshot of of it. He. It says it cost him 20 bucks. I will record a professional American male voiceover narration. I will record a 65 word voicemail recording for a school play. He thinks this is for a school play.
A
Also, the only way that Heather could have found the receipt would be if he used Heather's credit card to pay for the voice actor to dupe Jen into thinking he tried to kill himself. How dumb is this guy?
B
But Jen is like, this proves it that Jace is exactly who he says he is. Like, he. Jen, is in 10,000% because this guy always had an answer for everything. The stakes are super high. He's suicidal. Oh, my God. What am I supposed to do?
A
And that's what happens. He convinces Jen to go and see him, and he does. And Desiree says, from that night forward, we lost her completely because he's doing that thing. We saw this in. Hey, beautiful. He's doing that thing where he's now scamming using the fact that. That he was a scammer. Suddenly, he's got an answer for every single thing. He's like, yes, I was a scammer in my previous life, and I made a mistake, but I served my time.
B
And I wasn't willing to tell you yet because I really, really love you, because you really are the one. Heather, Desiree, your family. Those are all the people that are going to be a problem for us. Come back to me, Jen. Come back to me.
A
Your family and Desiree are going to be problems for us. So we got to get rid of them so we can move forward.
B
I'm the con. Everyone in the world is lying to you except for me. Me, the con man?
A
Yes. Yes, I was a con man. But this is the truth. And you got to get away from.
B
Your family, and especially that Desiree. I. She's really not good for you. She's really bringing you down. She's going to ruin everything we have. Get rid of her.
A
And Desiree says it got so bad between her and Jen, they have it out. She says it almost led to a physical altercation. And she's like, I'm begging you. Look around. Everyone who's ever been in touch with this guy, family members, brothers, every woman who's come forward with a story never wants to speak to him again. What are you doing?
B
And now it's like, well, Heather is the only one who could save us from this guy. Just like another Heather I know with receipts, proof, timeline, fucking everything.
A
Yes, yes.
B
Because of her due diligence, she's keeping everything, and she's sort of like, you know, as Marcon would say, like, dive into work and figuring out how to. How to. That's a rent reference, everybody.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, like, doing her due diligence so, like, he can face more consequences a little bigger than, like, theft of $5,000 because she's trying to make this case and hand it over to law enforcement who doesn't give a shit about things like this.
A
Exactly. And the thing that I hate is that we don't have any idea what happened. To John. There's, like, no update on Jen.
B
I know.
A
You know, like, is she still with him? I hope she's still. I hope that she's okay, and I hope she got away from, like. It is. I need to goog. I need to find out if there's an update on Jen.
B
I think Desiree would have said. And she doesn't want to talk about it, but she's okay.
A
Yeah. Yeah, I would hope.
B
But anyway, it's like, oh, shit. Day one of the trial. Like, it's been two years since Heather discovered this guy's real identity, and now it's jury selection. So this guy was a. Arrested in September of 2021, and now we're finally at trial, January 15, 2024. And it's taken so long because this guy and his lawyers are pulling out every trick in the book to get this thing delayed, whether it's real or not. And we'll get to it in a minute.
A
My favorite is that Heather and the documentary crew are standing outside the courthouse waiting for Jace to arrive. And then he does.
B
Well, let me say, I know this is not at all the point. Not at all point. Yeah, but, you know, I love a super cute, like, winter co. Oh, yeah. Heather is rocking one so hard. She's got the, like, that coat fits her like a glove. She's got the boots on, the hat. She looks like a million bucks. And I hope that made him crazier, and I hope that really ate Adam. But she, you know, I love a cute winter look. And she's rocking it.
A
And we're also getting on screen text all throughout this part. Like, we tried to contact Jay's. We. We said multiple. So he knows there's a documentary being made about him that must make him fucking crazy. So he shows up, and Heather's just taunting him because he sees the crew. He turns around, puts a scarf over his head, and she's like, classic, classic jj. And the documentary crew is just like, hey, girl. Anything you want to say? Anything you want to tell us?
B
Hey, Jason.
A
And it's wild to see him.
B
He's also doing that thing where he's trying to walk on ice without slipping, and it's not at all cool. And we all, literally every single one of us do it. But he's just, like, shuffling along carefully, and there's no, like, Heather looks like a million bucks with boots of traction on them. She can get through anything. And he's, like, scooting, trying not to slip and float, fall, like, on a banana peel or the ice and he's doing that move.
A
I've lost hours of my life to getting on Instagram and just watching videos of people sliding down their driveways. Like, not meaning to. Like, hours of my life watching people just, like, doing the skedaddle feet, trying not to fall on the ice.
B
It's my favorite thing, falling on the ice, you know? God, sometimes you just don't come through. As Tori, I must say, I know. That would have been great footage.
A
Well, so it's day one. Everyone's all excited, but then all of a sudden, as Heather is literally out there being like, we're so excited. It's jury selection. This is. It's starting. It's happening. All of the jurors start walking out of the courthouse. They've been there for 20 minutes, and all of a sudden they're all leaving. And nobody knows what's happening. Not Heather, not the crew. Nobody knows what's going on.
B
Heather's like, what's happening? Why is everyone. Wait, what? They just. We just started, like, why is everyone walking out of the courthouse? I'll tell you why. The jury sent home for jury tampering. Because Jace went to fucking Kinkos.
C
Apparently, Jace found all over the cars in the parking lot, these four flyers that say, guilty, Jace Parati. And it's a picture of him. And then at the bottom, it says, for more information, contact Heather Ovette at Gmail. Yeah, I have to prove that I didn't do this. It's ridiculous.
B
His lawyers blamed Heather because it's like, contact Heather with any info. She didn't do this. This is just another way to delay it because now Heather has to prove it wasn't her.
A
I mean, thank God we learned that, like, when it is determined that Heather didn't do this and Jace did, he gets a charge at. Yes, but, like, my God, you know what I mean? Like, what a pathetic, fudgeing loser.
B
And like, Heather is on the phone with her friends just being like, can you believe this asshole? Like, it's another delay. It's another thing. I've been here, Heather. I just under. When you say it in one sentence and you're like, how are people not getting it? Because she goes. So just to be clear, he is currently in three different criminal courts facing five different sets of charges, and no one is connecting the dots.
A
And it's like the same building. How is there not some kind of goog machine that they all have to look at before, like, a defendant becomes before them to be, like, what else are you charged with? Where else are You. You know what I mean?
B
What she's saying is they should be stacking these to show that he's a predator in the way that he is. Instead of being like, oh, a $5,000 theft here, a 5,000. She's like, how is it not all the same fucking thing? Because it is.
A
Yes. And, like, by the way, we get more from Heather. December 11, 2024. She's going back and forth to court. This guy is on trial. Still on the apps. People are seeing him on Tinder, like, the week before.
B
Yeah. And apparently as of 12-11-24, he's still with Jen, Desiree's friend. But he's that.
A
Right.
B
That's what they said, that he's. As of 2024. So I don't know where she is today. I hope she got away from him. I hope someone. I mean, I don't know. I just. I don't want any of these women or any of these people to be sucked into this.
A
Yes.
B
But it's like, this is where we get, like, you got to listen to your gut or your friend's guts, for the love of God. And, yeah, this is avoidable. That's the thing that people don't want to hear. I'm not blaming anyone, but, like, be disappointed. Disappointed instead of traumatized. Right. Like, yes. Like, look for the signs. Look. Listen to the signs. Ask the hard questions. If you get an answer you don't like, you gotta hear it. And Google everybody. You know what I mean?
A
Yes.
B
Instead of being like, I didn't like that answer, so I'm gonna double down because he was really nice to me. I understand what that feels like, to have someone be nice to you. I totally, totally get it.
A
Yeah.
B
It's not worth it.
A
And I'll take it one step further. Like, go. You know, I think at this point, maybe we should start airing on the side of, like, going into, like, dates from the Internet. Assuming the person's a scammer. Go date. Be cautious. Don't give away too much information on the first day. And go home and Google the living shit out of them.
B
Yeah.
A
Make sure their story lines up, because.
B
Tiffany says red flags sometimes turn into flaming fires of hell. Louder for the people in the back. TIFF.
A
So April 14, 2025, we learn a judge of the Ontario Court of Justice sentenced Jason Porter to two years minus a day, for some reason. Would love to know why.
B
What are you doing? Canada. What's that about?
A
I know in prison and three years probation, I did like this as part of the probation. Jason Must repay Heather's mom for stolen jewelry. Report any future romantic relationships to his probation officer during his probation.
B
How are they going to do. How, how is that going to be possible?
A
I don't know. For just a second I was like, oh, maybe we figured it out.
B
Canada, you know, that means that if he's caught then it's like, oh, you're going against your probation. Like, I think a lot of times things like that are for when they slip up. You can just add tack on some more time or whatever. But I really can't imagine this guy is going to be on the up and up.
A
Like, God damn it. I love learning that Heather watched as he was taking taken away in handcuffs from Italy.
B
Fuck. Yes, Heather.
A
Fudge. Yes, Heather. Move on, girl.
B
Move. I just love that for her. I loved that selfie. She looks gorgeous in the sunset. Like by. She took her to Italy. Hell yeah, she did.
A
And Heather did this for us. Like Heather. Heather made this documentary happen. It's so generous. I hope that everybody watching it. If you relate to this in any way, I hope it helps you.
B
You know what? I bet we could get an interview with Heather. I bet she'd come.
A
That would be amazing.
B
Let's do it.
A
All right.

I bet we would.
A
Oh, girl. We did what? Rom com.
