This was a well known gay bar in the French Quarter safe from prying eyes as it was located on the second floor. By 8:00PM panic would set in for patrons as a fire blazed on the floor below trapping everyone in the bar upstairs. There was only one exit down a winding set of wooden stairs and it appeared that was where the fire had started. This was no accident, this was an intentional hate crime. So lets talk about it. According to Larry the pair drove from Tennesee to Arkansas and that afternoon he stated he dropped Bethany off at the Old Hickory Mall. He waited in the car while she presumably went inside. The real kicker here, there is no security footage of Bethany ever entering the mall and she has not been seen or heard from since. So what happened to Bethany?Then we have a discussion about our missions in the true crime community with ethical story telling and the impacts of working with victims families.
