Nearly four years in the making, this episode brings Bex together with Loretta Ledesma, creator of The Death Witch and co-owner of The Cauldron Black. Together, they explore the idea that Lorelai Gilmore was a witch who found refuge in the little coven that is Stars Hollow. The conversation also expands into the present moment, touching on Palestine and how to resist becoming victims of propaganda aimed at condemning the Middle East. In today’s episode, I had the privilege and opportunity to interview The Real Antonios! During their stop in Guadalajara, we discussed what it means to be a Goth/Dark Mexican, why country music rocks and how we’ve always had a place in it, life between the U.S. and Mexico, the importance of authenticity, creating from a place of joy, and, of course, their favorite vampires. Along the way, they helped me realize that, like a phoenix, we must rise again and again shedding old versions of ourselves to become the person we are truly meant to be. It’s been a minute. Today’s episode focuses on unpacking and processing the cultural changes from moving from St. Louis to Mexico. During this time I have been thinking about the connections between Eyes Wide Shut, secret societies, and the systemic sexual violence against children. Thanks again to all the folks who support me and my work, ya’ll are a huge factor in me opening Cafe Ghostie and I deeply appreciate it. Happy 2/22! Today’s episode is a reminder to expect more in your relationships, friendships, and work life. The support and friendship women and femmes have for each other is a sense of love, one doesn’t experience in friendships with men. Additionally, recognizing not all women are on the same side, being able to be a girl’s girl while still calling out nonsense. The hard realization that men treat women the way they were conditioned to, due to their mothers and Hugh Hefner. The Episode of Call Her Daddy featuring Mischa Barton.
