And the harder they search for closure, the more the city’s unseen shadows begin to move at the edges of their lives.

This prelude introduces the mortal lives caught in the wake of Kindred influence: a reserved IT professional whose friend’s sudden death left behind too many questions, and a fallen protector with a battered reputation who refuses to let his sister’s disappearance become just another cold case. What starts as mourning turns into pursuit—because in the World of Darkness, tragedy is rarely random… and obsession is often the first step toward the night.

World of Darkness: Twin Cities by Night — Lament is a mortal-focused side story set within the larger Twin Cities by Night continuity. It follows everyday people living on the edges of vampire society—those harmed, discarded, or left behind—when the Masquerade’s ripple effects crash into their lives. Grounded, character-driven, and steeped in grief and mystery, Lament explores what it costs to seek the truth in a city that survives by keeping it hidden.
