Sabrina
Welcome to the barn. This is two girls, one ghost.
Corinne
Two girls, one ghost. And we are your ghostesses. That is Corinne. Hello, I'm Sabrina. And today's encounters theme is. Yeah, pets. What if we were like, oh, and you're wearing.
Sabrina
Actually, you're wearing a pet. A wolf.
Corinne
A wolf. I did this on purpose.
Sabrina
You did.
Corinne
I'm dressing for the theme.
Sabrina
For the pet that you want most.
Corinne
The pet that I want most is probably. Well, aside from every cat in the entire world recently. I really want ducks.
Sabrina
Oh, yes.
Corinne
Ducklings.
Sabrina
White ducks, yellow ducks, brown ducks.
Corinne
Any of the ducks.
Sabrina
I like that.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
I want those white ones that, like, run around together.
Corinne
I just want something to love.
Sabrina
Me. Yeah. A cow, maybe.
Corinne
I have to stop myself from sending you every cow thing I see because I feel like you probably already see them.
Sabrina
Here's the thing. I'm putting in cow work with Noah. He loves moo. I think it might be his first word, and I love it. Yeah.
Corinne
I mean, I got him a cow stuffy for at your baby shower, and.
Sabrina
I was realizing that people were gifting him things that were my interest because almost all of his stuffed animals are big fur cows. Yep. So I have a great time every day.
Corinne
Okay.
Sabrina
But we have stories from you guys about your pets. I will begin. I think my cat saved me from Zozo.
Corinne
Hell, yeah. Everyone deserves a cat to be saved from possessions. That's what they do.
Sabrina
Hi, ladies. My name Is Simmy. She her pronounced like Jimmy, but with an S. The last time I wrote you, I had just moved across the country from Virginia to San Diego. It's been over a year since then, and we have added two new members to our family. A border collie named Roon, who is almost a year old now, and a rescue kitty named Ayla. I will obviously attach pictures of them and our existing God dog. Same thing.
Corinne
Same thing.
Sabrina
Yeah. Fenrir. Fenrir. Sorry. Anyway, on to the creepy shit.
Corinne
I like that you kind of combined creepy and shit into word.
Sabrina
Word Creepish. On to the creepy shit.
Corinne
Love it.
Sabrina
Annunciation. Things have been pretty quiet on the paranormal front since I wrote to you about these wet footprints that we found in our driveway after listening to the Corona Catskills episode. I occasionally will see my deceased border collie, Freya, out of the corner of my eye, but that is more than welcome and it doesn't scare me in the least. It actually brings me so much joy to know that she's still hanging around. I did, however, have a very freaky experience in August that has taken until now, January for me to build up the courage to talk about shit. Okay. My husband is active duty, Navy, so he's gone a lot. Okay, makes sense for your San Diego move. He was gone for most of late summer slash early fall, so I was living in our little house alone with the two dogs and the cat. This was mid August, so we'd only had Ayla for about a month and a half as we'd gotten her at the very end of June. And I was still adjusting to having a cat as I'd never had one before. It started out as a normal day. I worked all day and then I spent the evening training, exercising our dogs and working out before making dinner and going to bed. I fell asleep with Fen and Ayla curled up in bed, and Ruhn was in his kennel next to the bed because he's a little shit who can't be trusted. I don't usually dream much due to being on antidepressants, but that night I did. I was in the middle of this very vivid dream. And I don't remember what the dream was about, but when I quote, unquote woke up, Ayla was curled up on my chest. That's pretty standard because that's her favorite place to sleep. But what was strange was that she was staring at me with wide eyes, unblinking. Normally she's all squinty and relaxed. And what is even stranger was the fact that my cat spoke in a human voice and said to me, zozo is here. Oh. I immediately woke up for real. And I bolted upright, dislodging Ayla, who had been sitting on my chest, staring at me.
Corinne
Like, in the same way that.
Sabrina
Yeah, I checked the time. It was 3am to say that I was extremely creeped out was an understatement. I immediately grabbed Ayla, I snuggled up to Fen, I closed my eyes, I started doing the ribbon wrapping technique that you guys have talked about, and I was able to fall asleep. And the rest of the night passed uneventfully. But I still get chills thinking about that dream.
Corinne
Jesus.
Sabrina
I've always been told that cats are guardians against evil, particularly from demons and evil spirits. And I definitely feel like Ayla was protecting me from something evil that day. Whether it was actually a demon or not, who knows? But I'm grateful she was there. See you on the other side, Simi.
Corinne
Ayla, I love this. Ayla's your little protector.
Sabrina
Okay, wait, I'm gonna keep. I'm gonna keep reading because there's another email in this and there's more. This says I do want to provide some content warnings for animal deaths, so please keep that in mind while reading the rest of the story. I will label the specific part. So, picking up where I left off on the last email, I woke up the next morning after having an uneventful rest of the night, and I went to work as I was working a normal day shift at the general practice vet clinic in San Diego at the time. Sabrina, you probably remember this, but in August 2020, it was intensely hot in Southern California. I'm talking 90 to 100 degrees for weeks, even in mild San Diego. And this was one of those days where it was around 100 degrees and I was just miserable. The first half of the day passed uneventfully, although I was a little bit weirded out and kind of on edge from this strange dream. I told my friends and coworkers when I got to work, as they're also very into the paranormal.
Corinne
Good friends, good coworkers, yes, keep them around.
Sabrina
And they were really freaked out as well. We quickly got into the routine of basic annual exams, vaccines, and the occasional mildly sick pet exam. And the day quickly changed. Immediately after we closed at 6pm, the phone started ringing and it showed the caller ID of one of the owners of the dogs that we'd seen earlier that day for a basic annual exam and vaccines. The dog had been in perfect health when we'd seen him two or so hours prior. We did not answer. As it's hospital policy not to answer the phone after closing and our clients know this, the owner hung up and called back again. I just immediately got this sick feeling in my stomach. So my friend and I exchanged a worried glance and she picked up the phone.
Corinne
Ugh.
Sabrina
And this is where the content warning for animal death comes in.
Corinne
Okay.
Sabrina
The owner was in hysterics. His healthy as of 2 hours ago dog had just dropped dead out of nowhere shortly after arriving home.
Corinne
Aw.
Sabrina
The dog was older in age, but as we say in vet med, age is not a disease. So this was shocking to say the least.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
The owner wanted to know if we would mind staying a little bit late by a few minutes so he could bring his dog's body back to us for body care. A few of us agreed to stay behind and help him. It was a really big dog. And all of this happened at about 6:10pm Two minutes after my friend hung up the phone with him. The power went out. Could this have been related to the extreme heat? Sure. Maybe. Was it highly coincidental with my demon dream and all of a sudden a dead dog? So two of my friends turned to me as soon as the lights cut out and one said amid the screeching of lab machines, freaking out about the loss of power. That demon is fucking pissed he couldn't get you and he is taking it out on the hospital.
Corinne
I hate this.
Sabrina
We stayed at the clinic until about 7pm that evening, helping the distraught owner with his dog's body. After that, I collected my own two dogs from the dog runs in the back. And we drove 20 minutes home, only to realize that the power was out at my house as well. I was thoroughly spooked at this point. Power outages just freak me out in the first place. But this was particularly creepy. My husband was out at sea. He was unreachable. So I called a couple friends and talked to them until the power came back on around 10pm Nothing else happened in the two and a half years that we lived in that house. And I'm forever grateful to the kitty for keeping me safe. Yeah. See you two on the other side and in Denver when you're on tour. Simmy. Damn.
Corinne
That's so sad. I feel so bad for that owner.
Sabrina
Oh my God. Horrible.
Corinne
There's like out of nowhere.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Corinne
Pet loss is like.
Sabrina
It's tragic.
Corinne
Loss in general is tragic. But there's just something about losing a pet that. That's why I didn't pick any stories that were pet loss because I was like I can't deal with it.
Sabrina
I will show the cat that speaks English in dreams.
Corinne
Those eyes. That's the most precious little baby I know.
Sabrina
Puss in Boots eyes.
Corinne
Yeah, that's a protective little angel. I'm really excited about this. This is from our listener, Mila, who is a Patreon donor. And I hinted at this in a previous encounters. I saw my familiar's true form, AKA demon cat.
Sabrina
Ooh.
Corinne
And there was a campfire stories where you. I think we're sleep deprived. And we were like, corinne, go, little baby, go sleep.
Sabrina
That's like twice so far where I have been.
Corinne
We've been like, booted. We just want to make you go to bed.
Sabrina
Yeah, you look horrible. Can you leave so we can focus on ghost stories instead of just looking at your face? Okay.
Corinne
Hello, my beautiful ghostesses. I hope you're doing great. I've sent you a few ghost stories and curse stories. Mila has sent us a lot of emails. Like, a lot. Dang, Mila.
Sabrina
You have shit ton of ghost stories.
Corinne
But tonight, I have a scary cute story. My name is Mila. She her, and I am a witch. I have a familiar. My cat. Cute, right?
Sabrina
Mm, yeah.
Corinne
But several months ago, I think I saw my familiar's true form. I have attached an awfully done drawing of what I saw. The creature I saw felt familiar. I recognized it as my cat. He had the same intense light green eyes. His little brown spots on his nose and the cut on his ear. And he was sitting on a box with a humanoid body covered in orange fur. His limbs were long and slim, and he seemed to be as tall as a door. He stared at me calmly, as if he was sure I wouldn't freak out, which I didn't. When I moved closer, it disappeared. And my cat, now in his quadruped feline form, came out from behind that same big box. Yesterday, I saw him again sitting on my father's bed with the same crouching position, as if his legs were too long for him to sit properly, which is so creepy. It's like almost like frog like. Yeah, he had the same eyes. Same calm and intense look. Again, I tried to move closer, but it disappeared. I entered my parents room and found my cat, who was next to my father's bed in his feline form as if nothing had happened. Tonight, I am watching episode 296, which is the demon episode 72, demons of Solomon. And you mentioned that some demons can send you familiars. That got me wondering. Is my cat a little cat demon? I've attached a Picture of my cat, too. I wasn't scared, really, just curious. And now it begs me the question, why? Why show me this form? But why disappear every time I get closer? That's all for the witchy news I have today. Ballin and Ballin' Mila. And here's. I'll show you the cat first. Cute little cat.
Sabrina
So cute.
Corinne
And then this is how he appeared in, like, a human form.
Sabrina
How interesting it makes me. I have a million questions about just familiars and kind of like, how they choose, Right? They're like living vessel. How is their image created? Are they trying to match, like, in a way, what they're inhabiting in real life? Or are they choosing to come as a cat because they have feline features in their. Well, like, I don't even know what to call it.
Corinne
Well, it also makes me think, like, is it not necessarily a familiar? I mean, clearly, I think they are very connected. But is it a demon? And not in a negative, scary way, but in a. This is the form that he. Because a lot of demons, like, show up as certain things.
Sabrina
That's true. They have a lot of, like, animal features.
Corinne
And as Mila was telling us the story on Campfire Stories, her cat was there with her. And it was so funny because the cat, at a certain point, just started, like, biting Mila's arm and kind of, like, hanging on. And it was almost like, stop talking about my secret. Like, stop outing me to the rest of the world. It's so interesting, too, the timing, because clearly you can't see the cat. Like, you can't see the cat form and the human form at the same time. Her cat is always right around the corner when the humanoid form disappears.
Sabrina
Oh, God. Does everyone have a familiar or the potential of having one, or is this, like a chosen thing within?
Corinne
I don't know.
Sabrina
Yeah, let us baby witches know, because we are here to learn.
Corinne
Also, I feel like he's slowly warming you up to his human form, and maybe he'll start appearing as human form more and more next time instead of trying to get closer, maybe talk to him.
Sabrina
Oh. Oh, interesting. That's very cat like, too. To, like, not approach. Just meet them where they are, and.
Corinne
Then if you approach, like, na, na, na, na, na.
Sabrina
Yeah. Do a stare down first. Yeah. And once it feels right, speak. Okay, I have another story. Hello, ladies. I live in the mountains of Colorado. I found your podcast when you did the collab with Morbid a while back. Growing up, I was visited by and followed by a lot of different spirits. Good and Bad. My spiritual life is way more chill now. But my childhood was chock full of paranormal encounters and near possessions. I'm, well chock full. Yeah, wait. I think. I think you need to tell us a lot about that.
Corinne
I'm sorry. One near possession or one possession is a lot.
Sabrina
Too many possessions, but many. We must be pretty powerful to have escaped all of those and, like, escaped. Yeah.
Corinne
Dodging it.
Sabrina
What is that? So you set a pick.
Corinne
Basketball terms.
Sabrina
Lacrosse, too. Isn't it weird that you and I played lacrosse?
Corinne
It is very weird. It was a different life.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Corinne
I've missed my lacrosse stick. I lost it in the divorce. I left it behind.
Sabrina
Call it back. I'm, like, viewing it as like a broomstick.
Corinne
A broomstick?
Sabrina
I'm lying.
Corinne
To me, it's literally the stick I had since high school. But I highly doubt that Nick kept it when he moved.
Sabrina
Damn it.
Corinne
Probably in a dub somewhere.
Sabrina
I don't know, maybe it, like, whispered things to him, like, keep me, don't throw me out. I'm a magic stick. Take me on a ride. Oh, my gosh.
Corinne
Nick's just flying around Santa Monica on a lacrosse stick.
Sabrina
I hope.
Corinne
I hope so, too. I'm jealous.
Sabrina
Oh, wow.
Corinne
Makes me miss my sticky.
Sabrina
He's really having a good time, isn't he?
Corinne
Okay, you're welcome for the divorce.
Sabrina
And in that shaft you get to ride.
Corinne
Oh, man.
Sabrina
Okay. I'm back in my childhood home after a very stressful last couple of years that made me move back in with my parents. And it has been a little weird, but I'm in a different room now, and I haven't had any major experiences since I moved back. I have three stories that I'm going to share with you, but I will try to keep them all brief.
Corinne
So this is the same childhood home where the near possession.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Corinne
So maybe it was just the room. Okay, interesting. Galatea.com forward/tgog the first story I do not remember since I was about a year and a half old, but it was the story that made my dad start to believe in ghosts. My parents had two black labs at the time, Jake and Jazz Love. Jake was a big crazy 5 year old who frequently cleared coffee tables with his tail and he had a knack for opening windows and doing a bunch of crazy making through the neighborhood. My grandfather had recently Lost his battle with Parkinson's disease. Oh, my God, I'm so sorry. I lost my Uncle Dickie to that as well.
Corinne
So sad.
Sabrina
And there was a lot of tension and grief in my family. My parents forgot to put the dogs in the basement and they went to work as usual one day, and Jake chewed up and swallowed one of my brother's toys and this perforated his intestines.
Corinne
Oh, no.
Sabrina
And the vet kept him overnight. After emergency surgery, I woke up and I started fussing around 2am and my dad got up to check on me. He picked me up and he tried to settle me when I suddenly got really quiet and I pointed to the corner of the room. He looked and there was nothing there. I waved at the corner and said, bye, bye, Jake. My unsophisticated toddler way of saying Jake. And then I went back to sleep. First thing in the morning, my parents got the call from the emergency vet that Jake had unfortunately not survived the night. And she saw him. Bye, bye, Jake.
Corinne
Oh. And Jake came to say goodbye.
Sabrina
Oh, this is like my. My. My friend. My. My cousin Addy. My friend Addy. My cousin Addie. When. I know one of her dogs passed when she was really little, she kept saying.
Corinne
Yeah, she said she still sees them.
Sabrina
She's a spooky little.
Corinne
She is.
Sabrina
Yeah. Spooky little chick. My parents were obviously so heartbroken. But my dad asked when Jake had passed away, and the vet said it was just before 2am My dad thinks that I saw Jake when he came back to say goodbye to us before he ran across the Rainbow Bridge.
Corinne
Not even think. No. I know.
Sabrina
100% certainty's other explanation.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
There is none.
Corinne
There is none.
Sabrina
No. Fast forward a couple years. We had moved from the Chicago suburb that I was born in to a small mountain town in Colorado, where I still live. The next story is made up of a lot of memories that were my first memories. And when I was about three or four, I started feeling really dark things in my room.
Corinne
Oh, no.
Sabrina
They started manifesting physically in my room at night as blobs. And they were darker than black and they had dark red eyes. And there were always at least four of them. And they would congregate on my ceiling above me at night. This is scaring me because this is a lot like what my brother experienced in his bedroom.
Corinne
How big were these blobs? I'm curious.
Sabrina
As time went on, they began to get closer to me, whisper at me, and try to pull the covers off of me. My mom is metaphysical as fuck and When I started telling her about the black angels that were flying and trying to take me away, my own words. Apparently she found a spiritual woman and we'll call her Beth, who started to meet with me. Beth taught me how to protect my energy and I learned how to draw my guardian spirits to me and ask them for their help and protection. This is so cool to do this at like 3 and 4 years old.
Corinne
Yeah, get a metaphysical guide.
Sabrina
She's a preschooler, like doing work.
Corinne
Literal baby witch.
Sabrina
Literal baby witch. Oh my God.
Corinne
Damn.
Sabrina
I don't remember too much from this time, but they did eventually leave me alone. I think my brother, who's two years older than me, also may have helped with expelling the demons. My mom once asked my brother if he saw what was bothering me and his sassy sevenish year old self told her, yeah, obviously they come here every night, but they don't bother me though. And my mom asked him, is there anything you can do to help her? And he rolled his eyes and said, ugh, yeah, sure, I guess. I love my brother. This leads us into my third story now. I'm in elementary school, about 8 years old, and my elementary school had a pretty standard late 90s playground blacktop with a couple of tetherball poles, a splintery dodgeball wall, dangerous swings that we could launch ourselves off of way too high up in the air, and a sketchy ass jungle gym that broke more of its fair share of arms over the years. I was out on the playground during recess one day and something odd caught my eye. It was a man who looked to be in his late 20s or early 30s and he was in this old timey winter clothing. Think late 1800s settlers in the wild wild west. His hair was shaggy and brown and his eyes were piercing blue. I'm just picturing all the tintype photos from that time and you can tell when someone had light eyes. It was like, yeah, like really thick vampire dark wool coat, long.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
The other odd thing was that he was standing next to the tetherball pole and although he looked solid, the ball was passing right through him despite it being loud, with kids running everywhere. He was looking and looking only at me and it felt like he was looking into my soul. I held his gaze and he seemed sad and concerned. I didn't feel threatened at all, but I could feel his sadness overwhelm me. I'm not sure exactly how long I looked at him, but it was at least a few seconds. I looked around to see if anyone else saw this man casually standing in the middle of this intense tetherball game, but no one was phased.
Corinne
What if, like, he, by standing there, really impacted the results of the tetherball game?
Sabrina
But yeah, he, like, quite literally bet on the tetherball game and he was like, I, I need to sway this. Yeah, I bet that blue shirt and red shirt was going to win. And I'm not letting that little pink ponytail girl.
Corinne
Yeah. And it's like all of a sudden the ball, like, it starts going that way, then goes that way. How physically, that doesn't make sense.
Sabrina
Yeah, but kids wouldn't question it because they all have magic powers, right?
Corinne
Right.
Sabrina
When I looked back, he was gone. Now, normally, this is when the story would end, right? Wrong. Over the next few years, I had constant, but not threatening feelings of someone watching me. I was not wildly popular at this point in my life, and I was often alone or being bullied. Oh, sorry. My dogs were my best friends, and I spent most of the time exploring the forest by my house like the feral, bare footed fairy child I was. Beth had moved back to town and reconnected with me to see how I was doing. I was in late middle school or maybe early high school. At this point, my memory is shit, so I honestly have no idea how old I was, but probably around 13 or 14. I set up a time to meet with Beth to catch up and show her how great I was doing. And the moment I walked into her house, she gave me a big hug and then she looked past me and said, oh, you have someone with you. I'm sorry, what? Apparently, a spirit was attached to my energy.
Corinne
Oh.
Sabrina
Beth sat me down and walked me through how to connect with the spirit and see why they are there, why they are with me. And you can imagine my shock when the guy from the tetherball court on the playground several years earlier popped up in my mind. Beth helped me communicate with him, and it turns out he had been a fur trapper in the late 1800s, and he moved his young family out to the west to make a living. He was out checking his traps on a cold winter morning when he slipped on a rock and fell into the river or a creek, hitting his head and succumbing to hypothermia and head trauma.
Corinne
Oh, that's so sad.
Sabrina
He was worried that his family thought that he had abandoned them to go start a new family, which was a pretty common thing back then, apparently, and this had kept him from crossing over and finding peace. When I asked him why he chose me, he said that he felt my loneliness and knew that I would see him and he wanted to protect me.
Corinne
It's almost like his daughter, you know, he took her on like that.
Sabrina
He showed me his memories in this weird, jumbled silent movie in my mind, showing me his wife and his kids and where he lived. He showed me the morning that he died, and I felt exactly where he hit his head on the rock. And I got very, very cold. I was able to help him cross over and find peace after he told me his story. When he crossed over, the room smelled like roses and it felt incredibly light. I haven't had too many intense ghostly encounters since then. Except for this very stern female ghost in an Austrian hotel and a small door to a cellar in a nursing home that felt more like a portal to hell. And I still absolutely hate walking by mirrors at night or in unfamiliar places. Oh, and I hear disembodied whispers and I see little shadows from time to time.
Corinne
And we still haven't heard about your near possessions.
Sabrina
No. So I hope you find my stories interesting. I look forward to continuing to listen to you. It's a nice spooky break from my constant true crime that I have playing otherwise Danielle. This has always been like, Danielle's always been connected. Bye bye, Dake. Yeah, getting a spiritual advisor when you're three years old, helping someone cross over when you're like a tween into teenagers.
Corinne
Also, you were the chosen one that a spirit was like, I'm going to protect her and I'm going to be her guardian. Wow, Danielle, baby, fucking witch.
Sabrina
Am I envious of you?
Corinne
Yes, I'll answer that.
Sabrina
Is that witchy of me? No.
Corinne
No.
Sabrina
But obviously I'm not a witch. You freaking are.
Corinne
You are a witch. We're inspired. We're inspired by Danielle and wish we could be more like you.
Sabrina
Oh, she's so cool.
Corinne
But I feel like the second you hear some of the possession stories, you might also be grateful that you're not as witchy.
Sabrina
How grateful are we to know you, Danielle? Yes.
Corinne
Thank you for being a listener and all of you who have had encounters. Okay. This is similar to our story from Simi. It is called My Cat Saved Me from a Possession Slash Evil Attachment and a Happy story.
Sabrina
Lovely.
Corinne
And it's from our listener, Jess from Northern Ontario.
Sabrina
Oh, Canada.
Corinne
I did a whole presentation on Canada when I was in middle school or like, elementary school. I loved Canada. Okay. I have been binge listening for the last two months now. This was sent back in 2021. I have a few stories and every time I listen to your Podcast. It seems to unlock deep rooted memories, and this story is one of them. It is a story I have never shared and have been scared to because I always push it aside as one of the worst nightmares a cat owner could have. It's short and not so sweet. My family grew up Christian, and it lasted until my dad left his position as a pastor. After that, my family stopped going to church and praying regularly. But after eight years of being the pastor's daughter, I kept those spiritual beliefs close to me. When I was in high school, my room was in the basement of my mom's house. This was a fully finished walkout basement apartment. One day, after showering, I noticed I had cut my stomach. I must have nicked it with a razor while shaving or put the razor down, as I was never the smoothest with my hands. When I got to my room, my stomach was still bleeding. Being 15 and clearly not sinking, I ran my finger through the blood and drew a line vertical, accidentally making an upside down cross in my own blood on my stomach.
Sabrina
Oh, gosh.
Corinne
I never said I was smart. After what felt like longer than a few minutes of doing my night routine, I wiped it away and my cut finally stopped bleeding. After this, I got into bed and I thought, well, that was really dumb of me. But I went to sleep. My cat slept in my room with me each night and was not much of a cuddler, but I enjoyed his presence in the room.
Sabrina
You know, it's so weird. I swear I heard Leia like, two seconds ago.
Corinne
You didn't hear that?
Sabrina
No, it was very faint, but it sounded like it was kind of like, right here.
Corinne
Leia, are you here with us?
Sabrina
Maybe we've opened up a little portal.
Corinne
We're talking so much about cats that she's like, why are you talking about cat to not being with me?
Sabrina
Yeah, I'm sorry, Leigh. I love you.
Corinne
I wish I had my pet camera on to see if she meowed just at that time, but I don't have it on. So. Okay, so I went to sleep. My cat was sleeping with me. And that night, I had a nightmare, One a little too vivid to blow off. This is the nightmare. I was in my room, and I couldn't find my cat, which was strange because, like I said, I always had him sleep in my room with me. After looking around for a few minutes, I hear some not so nice cat sounds coming from the closet. O' Malley, the amazing cat, was hissing and looking into the dark part of the closet. He came out and stayed between me and whatever he was looking at. I was calling his name, trying to get him to calm down when all of a sudden he stopped. He was still not a oh, he's okay now kind of still, but something is not right kind of still. I went to pick him up and comfort him but when he looked at me, his eyes were not his eyes. Like I mentioned before, this is a repressed memory, so I can't remember if the eyes were black or red, but all I recall is I know they were not his eyes. Once I saw this, I backed up as he made some more horrible cat sounds, but now they were not directed at the closet, they were directed at me. He looked at me with whatever those eyes were and made the worst sounds I have ever heard to this day. I called someone and two men quickly came to the house. They came down to my room and saw o' Malley with these otherworldly eyes and told me he was possessed by something so strong that there was nothing they could do to help. He would have to sort it out himself. I cried and I pled for them to help, but they told me there was nothing that we could do. I woke up in a cold sweat and it took me a few minutes to get myself together. Once I could, I scooped o' Malley off the floor, hugged him tight, closed the door behind us as we went upstairs and slept on the couch. I prayed that night for probably the first time in a long time and I've probably only thought about this dream like 10 times over the last 10 years because why would I ever want to relive this? But now, having a full memory, I really do believe that o' Malley saved me from something that I invited into my room that night. O' Malley has since moved on to his next journey, but I know he is with me and has protected me just as he did that night. I love this cat more than anything and I haven't even been able to fathom what might have happened if I didn't have him in my life that night. So to end this email with something loving and positive. My great grandmother is my guide and guardian. When I was three to four years old, I lived in a four generation home with my siblings, parents and grandparents and my great grandma, Nanny Faye as I'll call her. My favorite spot to hang out was my Nanny Faye's room. I would sit with her and watch her shows and sneak cookies and fruit filled yogurt. Once she fell asleep in her favorite chair.
Sabrina
That's hilarious.
Corinne
It's like Nanny Faye fell asleep and I'm like Ravaging through the through the kitchen.
Sabrina
Opportunist.
Corinne
Sadly, she passed away when I was four years old, and I was so sad to lose her as she was my best friend. For the remainder of the time we lived in that house. I remember her bedroom staying pretty much the same. I would run and jump on her bed. It was so tall that I had to use a step stool to get onto it. I would play with her jewelry that had been left on her vanity. Over the last two years, I've really buckled down on my spiritual journey, and I recently spoke to a clairvoyant who helps people connect to their abilities. She explained to me how to differentiate between thoughts and downloads. And during our talks, she cued me a couple of times, asking me to share what I had just gotten because she could tell it was a download. She also let me know that pink was going to be an important color for me and to hold it close.
Sabrina
You're Medium Barbie.
Corinne
Oh, that's like a different baby witch.
Sabrina
Yes. Oh, so cool.
Corinne
After this, I began to notice the pattern. When I got home that day, I knew I had to open a chest that I had sitting in my living room. In the chest was a blanket that my nanny Faye had crocheted that my nan had given to me a couple years back. I kept this blanket in the chest because I didn't want my animals to ruin it because of how special it was. Since receiving it, I really didn't give much time to look at it. I hadn't really even taken it out of the garment bag. So I hung the blanket on a blanket ladder next to my couch and went on with my day. Later in the day, I was getting ready for bed and I knew I had to take the blanket with me. When I put the blanket over myself in bed, I noticed that there was a pink square. It didn't match the rest of the pattern of the blanket and it seemed out of place. But it felt like a nod or a gift from my nanny Faye to remind me that I'm loved, protected, and that she is with me in this same apartment. I was laying on my couch one day. I wasn't having the best day and I was crying and all of a sudden I felt comforted, as if someone was there letting me know it was okay and that it was okay to just let out a good cry. I looked to the chair that I had thrifted across from me and I could feel my nanny Faye sitting there. That's so sweet. Her presence brought a worth and comfortable and I knew I Had her support since then. I'll look at the chair every now and then and I'll sometimes get a feeling that she's sitting there. Looking back over the years, I think of all the times growing up that I felt her presence with me. Sitting with me, standing with me, putting her arms around me when I needed it most. And at the time, I always thought, oh, that's nice to have. But now I look back and I know she's been with me all along, guiding me and keeping me safe from Jess.
Sabrina
Wow. So many protective spirits in your life, Jess.
Corinne
Yeah. O' Malley the cat, Nanny Faye. It is very fascinating because I feel like differentiating between thoughts and downloads is a very difficult thing.
Sabrina
Yeah, it's hard sometimes to trust your intuition because you start to second guess yourself.
Corinne
And also my thoughts are sometimes very strange. So, like, I'm like, I don't know, is this just like the sickness in my head or is this something else? But there have been times where. And I remember this so distinctly because it was early days of our podcast. I was walking across the street and there was a man walking like down the sidewalk kind of towards where we would intersect. And I just had this thought where I was like, he's going to say, and I think it was something about.
Sabrina
Like, your cool shirt.
Corinne
Yeah, it was my shirt. And he was going to comment specifically about it. And he was in a place where he couldn't even see me yet. Like, I was walking this way, he was walking this way. And sure enough, he did. And I was like, oh, that's. Maybe that's just like intuition or. He just seemed like a friendly person. I don't know. Now I look back, I'm like, it wasn't a thought, it was a download or time bled for a second. And I had relived a moment because I had already lived.
Sabrina
Deja vu. That's another thing. It's like, well, how do you. What is the difference between a download and like a psychic moment? Deja vu.
Corinne
Are they similar? Are they the same?
Sabrina
Yeah, all kind of the same.
Corinne
How do we get more in touch with the download?
Sabrina
What's the download? What's the four one, one?
Corinne
Yeah. How do we up our downloading rate? Our Internet speed?
Sabrina
We need our bitrate to be increased, please.
Corinne
You know what? We both have our bazinga boobies.
Sabrina

Corinne
Oh, my God. Yeah. Are you okay?
Sabrina
Is your car. I was very shaken up. So, shockingly, yes. Which I don't understand how. I really don't. Okay, that's maybe another weird thing. On my way to your house, I kept thinking about, if I die, is Noah going to know in the exact moment that I die tonight? And then driving home, I was driving 10 miles under the speed limit.
Corinne
And as context, it was a really snowy day, turned into a rainy day. So, like the. All the roads were getting icy.
Sabrina
Yeah, it was freezing rain. It was. Yeah.
Corinne
So dangerous.
Sabrina
Like melting slush when I got to your house. And then it turned to freezing rain and became dangerous. So I was driving Marblehead. The speed limit is 30 miles per hour throughout all of Marblehead. I was driving 20. And on the way home, I suddenly had this thought, I should slow down. And I just took my foot off of the pedal. And three seconds later, my car starts on ice. And it's a long strip of ice, so it's not like I skidded for a second. I was going and going and going. And then I got to the part where you go, like, around the bend and it's on the ocean, right? And my car started to go towards the ocean. And I was like, oh, my God. Oh, my God. And I know you're not supposed to grab the steering wheel, but I, like, tried to correct because I was like, I'm gonna go in the fucking ocean. So I turned and then my car went across it, like skidded, went sideways across the road. Thank God no one was there. And then came back, smashed into the snowbank, started going up and over it. So I was like, oh, I'm going into the ocean.
Corinne
Right?
Sabrina
And then at like the last second where, like, my tires were just about to, like, get to the top of the snowbank, it kind of like kicked me back and the whole side of my car just scraped against the, like 4 foot tall snowbank.
Corinne
Horrifying.
Sabrina
And then I took out of my. I called Brian immediately. Well, I texted you and a couple of her friends saying, like, everyone drive super fast, super safe. But then I. I called Brian right after, and I drove the rest of the way going five miles an hour. Skidded a ton more on the way back, which was really scary. Luckily, there were only five other cars out on the road.
Corinne
My whole journey, everyone knew not to drive less.
Sabrina
Yeah, I mean, it took me like 45 minutes to get home. And then I was holding My. I have one of those, like, window.
Corinne
Shatterer things just in case.
Sabrina
So I was holding it because there's a lot of water on my way home.
Corinne
There is.
Sabrina
I crossed a lot of skis and bridges.
Corinne
I'm glad that you are okay and you got home okay.
Sabrina
Yeah, me too.
Corinne
Horrifying.
Sabrina
But someone I think was like, hey, take your foot off of the pedal right now, because if you keep. You're gonna skid worse.
Corinne
Right. If you were going a little bit faster, you would have gone over that. Snow blank. Yeah, Snow blank. Snow bank.
Sabrina
Because I was probably going 50 miles per hour by the time, like, those few seconds of taking my foot off the pedal. Oh, my gosh.
Corinne
Ice is so scary. I've never really driven in this weather. Not well. I mean, like, I grew up in the east coast, but by the time I had my license, it was like, I only had it for a year.
Sabrina
Right. Well. And it's so much. Even just the line, Massachusetts to Vermont is dramatically different. So, like, New Jersey to here is different. I have snow tires on my car, too. Like, I. I have a big, heavy car and snow tires. Right. No, I was. I almost died.
Corinne
I've also eaten shit. Is that the right way to say it? I've eaten shit so many times. Just, like. Because I've been going on a lot of walks, and I love, like, I love how the winterscape looks, but I have fallen so many times, and even.
Sabrina
We need to get you those. Like, Mount Everest climbing, like, literally, like.
Corinne
Cross country skis, basically.
Sabrina
Ice climber.
Corinne
Yeah. I was walking with both of these coffees up your driveway and your front.
Sabrina
Oh, God path.
Corinne
And it is ice.
Sabrina
It's just a sheet of ice.
Corinne
So I literally was holding both of these, and I was, like, shuffling my feet, like, ice skating up here.
Sabrina
Well, we can't find ice melt. Like, none of this anyways. I should have put cat litter out. That's another. Yeah, that is a thing you could do. I have one more story to read. This is called A Visit from Rainbow Bridge.
Corinne
This is a nice one to end on, but it also means that loss of pets.
Sabrina
Yeah, Sad. This is also a ghost podcast, so unfortunately, almost all of our stories include loss, death.
Corinne
Sorry.
Sabrina
Somehow we're still always shocked every time it happens.
Corinne
I think there's something about, like, heartwarming stories and Rainbow Bridge ones that are more heartbreaking.
Sabrina
Yeah. Because it's like you're so connected to the.
Corinne
The person of which.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
Greetings, humans and animal companions. My name is JoJo, and I absolutely love your podcast. Have been considering writing in here and there with a couple of stories that I have. But tonight I felt most impressed to share a positive one with you. A bittersweet one. Anyway, my old boy, Captain, a one eyed Chihuahua, spent 16 years of his 19 or so living with me.
Corinne
Captain.
Sabrina
Captain 1 Chihuahua.
Corinne
He's Captain like he's a pirate.
Sabrina
He is. Oh.
Corinne
Already obsessed with him.
Sabrina
A couple of weeks ago at the time of this email, he finally told me that it was time. He was an old guy and he had some ailments for some time, but with his medication, he was pretty much his usual self. And I told myself that as long as there was any sort of joy in his little eyes, that I had no right to take that away from him. But a couple of nights before that fateful day, he stopped eating. He completely stopped drinking water. He refused to take his medicine. Well, you get the idea.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
The next morning, I could see it in his little eyes. The joy was gone.
Corinne
Little I. Singular.
Sabrina
Actually, she did write little I. It was singular. And he would just look at me. He was telling me it was time. There's so much more to the journey than this moment. But I'll spare much of the details only to mention that he just wouldn't die before this.
Corinne
He held on.
Sabrina
He had a singular eye. He had lots to see. There were many times when I was sure he had died. He would stop breathing. His heart had stopped beating as far as I could tell. And then after a few minutes, he would just get a little shock of electricity and start breathing again and eventually regain consciousness.
Corinne
Oh my God. He was like visiting the Rainbow Bridge and he was like, you know what? I'm not ready yet.
Sabrina
This happened about four or five times at the end of his life. I guess he just didn't want to go yet.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
But at this moment, staring at me, defeated, the spark was gone and I knew I had to face the music. I had to see him off to Rainbow Bridge. Oh, I'll again spare the details of the trip, only to say that I was able to hold him in my arms in a little blanket that they provided while the deed was done. And let me tell you that he was so ready. He left this mortal coil after the sedative. Didn't even need to wait for the euthanasia. We should be receiving his ashes soon. Now that's a sad story. I know. And it only got sadder. I was not taking it well. I wanted to grieve properly for my oldest friend, and I certainly did. Thankfully, I have a wonderful wife. And friends that would just hold me while I wailed from time to time. And sometimes I would simply cry in solitude. I still do.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
But let's cheer us up a little. A couple of days after seeing him off, I looked for videos on grieving the loss of a pet. And I happened upon one from a pet psychic who mentioned a few things. One I definitely needed to hear was to get over my guilt. Not to mix up guilt with grief. To separate them. Two was that I didn't need to feel guilty, as animals tend to plan their death.
Corinne
Also, you gave Captain the most beautiful life and gave him so much love.
Sabrina
So much so that he resurrected himself four times.
Corinne
Yeah. He's like, I can't leave you yet.
Sabrina
Wait. I'm not done.
Corinne
Mother.
Sabrina
More treats. One last more cod, Mommy. Even in the animal kingdom, they tend to leave a pack, find a hole to crawl into, and wait for sweet release.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
But our friends have a luxury that those animals don't have. We can help them go quickly and painlessly. This is something my wife told me, and it really did comfort me. It was a gift, even if it was a difficult one for me to give. And third was the whole reason that I'm writing in. She said, to talk to your pet that has moved on. Speak to them, write to them, or ask them to visit you in a dream. Immediately, I snapped up. I knew what to do. That night, I finally joined my wife in bed, and I bowed my head and I prayed to Captain. I told him that I missed him so much and that I was having such a hard time without him here.
Corinne
Oh, Captain, my Captain.
Sabrina
Captain, my Captain. That if he wasn't too busy enjoying his new life free from pain, if he could just come visit me and let me know that he was okay. Because, you see, the truth of it was that a lot of my pain and my guilt came from not knowing if he was okay.
Corinne
Right.
Sabrina
You believe in an afterlife of peace, or you may believe that death is the end and we wouldn't know any better because we're gone now. But the truth is, for me, that it wasn't until he was gone that I realized that I knew nothing. I wanted to believe it, but I just didn't know. Right? And so I prayed to Captain, please come tell me that you're okay. That is all I need to know. Eventually, I fell asleep. And eventually I awoke. I hadn't gotten much sleep, of course, but I also awoke saddened as he did not come to visit me. It was early. I hadn't slept much. I Didn't have much to do at the time. I was off of work. So I decided I would stay in bed and just try to relax, try to rest. And hours had passed and before I knew it, I must have fallen asleep again, because I remember leaving my bedroom and entered the living room to see, oh yes, the one and only Captain.
Corinne
One eyed Captain.
Sabrina
One eyed Captain. And he had both of his eyes and he had his weight back. And he was so excited. I mean, I hadn't seen him that excited since he was young. His tail was jetting back and forth and I shouted, captain, you came. And I picked him up, I hugged him so hard and he just licked me and licked me. And I just held him and I said, oh, you're really okay. I miss you so much. I'm so happy you came to see see me. And that was about it. I awoke in my bed, immediately sat up, I just cried tears of joy and I said aloud, oh, Captain, you came after all. I was so scared you weren't coming, but you did. You're really okay. And I thanked him again and again. I glanced at my phone and saw that I only must have been asleep for just a few minutes. He found just enough time to squeeze in to see me. So that is what I wanted to write in. He came again the next night and he brought a friend, but I don't think I've seen him since.
Corinne
Who is his friend?
Sabrina
I know. Wait, did he fall in love? I don't know.
Corinne
He's like, I want to introduce you to my mom.
Sabrina
Yeah. So much time has passed in the astral plane. They've been like married for 20 years and it's like, oh, I should probably introduce you to my parents. Maybe I'll ask for another visit. It's been a little bit easier, but I still cry from time to time. I'm crying now writing this. It's only been a few weeks. Aww, rest in peace, crappin Cap' N. And to all of you listening, our friends really are okay. Free from pain and restored to their greatest selves. And they're waiting ever so patiently for us to join them at the Rainbow Bridge.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
Lots of love to all. Jojo. Jojo. And do we have a photo of Captain? Captain? No.
Corinne
I love Captain so much. This was a great story to end on. And I'm sorry for your loss, Jojo. Because clearly, like the connection you and Captain had. So much so that you asking him to come visit. He heard you, he heard your calls, and he did you one better. He did more than Just, like, show up in a dream, like, in that way. He. He was like, I'm showing you. I'm so happy.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Corinne
Well, he came multiple times.
Sabrina
I appreciate that. He came during, like, a very quick nap, which, like, normally you shouldn't even dream. Yeah. At that point of your sleep cycle.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
But I'm glad that he did that because there's always a possibility of, like, when you're actually at night and you're having your full dreams that you're like, was I just hoping to experience that? And so, like, at night, as my brain is going through everything, I. Ben said he was just like, oh, you fell asleep for 90 seconds. Bloop.
Corinne
Here I am, Captain.
Sabrina
Captain.
Corinne
Ah, it's so interesting because, I mean, this is going to be a little bit morbid, but I had a lot of pets growing up, like fish and hermit crabs and.
Sabrina
Me, too. Was that an east coast thing? Why do we all have, like, fish and hermit crabs?
Corinne
I don't know.
Sabrina
It's because we'd go to the shore and we would. Yeah.
Corinne
Come.
Sabrina
You go to the boardwalk and you get a hermit crab.
Corinne
Yeah. But then I also was that kid who would find mice in the garage and, like, take care of them and they would die and, like, I would get, like, give them so much love, but it would be heartbreaking. When they passed away, there were, like, little baby bunny rabbits who were abandoned by their mom. Like, there's so many of them, but I'm like, how many of these animals are going to be waiting for me? Oh, like, is my hermit crab, who hated me and, like, hates the fact that I took him from the ocean, going to be waiting there for me?
Sabrina
Are all three of my Alexa Vegas going to be waiting for me? My hermit crab and my two fish all named the same thing? Alexa Vega.
Corinne
Or is it. Is it the pets that you really had the closest connection with?
Sabrina
I feel like it must be because.
Corinne
I'm not to be rude and not to, like, if you like your fish, great. I'm happy for you. But, like, I have really have very emotional. Very little emotional connection to my fish.
Sabrina
Yeah. I don't know.
Corinne
Yeah, you don't. I'm shocked. You don't have the answers. You've never been to the Rainbow Bridge. Not in this life.
Sabrina
Not in this life.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
But that is kind of an interesting thought that maybe we all have been to the Rainbow Bridge. We've lived lives of. Yeah. Maybe we've been hermit crabs in the past.
Corinne
Yeah. Or we've been greeted by pets on a rainbow Bridge. In some version of a different life? That's actually a very curious question to people who have had near death experiences. Have they seen the rainbow bridge? And did they see their pets? Like, were their pets the ones who were like, no, it's not your time.
Sabrina
Sorry, this is not related to what you just said, but related to this topic. You are not caught up on ghosts, are you? No. There's an episode where a snail dies like a garden snail. And they're so obsessed with watching the little ghosts of the garden snail. And then when the garden snail finally gets to move on because it's a snail, it moves so slow. So for like hours and hours, it's just like they're watching it slowly inching up the sky.
Corinne
Today's mini crossword. There was a snail in the mini crossword.
Sabrina
This is a snail themed episode. Suddenly at the end, you gave us your cats and dogs, but really we were after snails.
Corinne
You know, we really love our snails and we also love your ghost stories. So please email them to us at Two Girls, One Ghost. Podcastmail.com. any range of stories and topics, even if it's pets. Sabrina
I also feel like we do a lot of these topics, like, multiple times a year. We find ways to do them, especially.
Corinne
When we like them the most.
Sabrina
Yeah, right.
Corinne
Like demons will revisit that.
Sabrina
And I do a lot of pets and heartwarming And Bigfoot. Yeah, and scary forests.

Sabrina
I need my stew. I need my food.

Sabrina
Snails.
