Corinne
Hello.
Sabrina
Hey.
Corinne
This is two girls, one go.
Sabrina
Two girls, one ghost. I feel like you did something different.
Corinne
One ghost.
Sabrina
We are your ghostesses. That is Corinne. Hi, I am Sabrina.
Corinne
Hey. And a while ago, we asked for first responder ghost stories and you all delivered. So here we go.
Sabrina
And you can keep delivering if you've already sent a first responder story. Thank you. If you have one that you're sitting on. Do you want us mad at you?
Corinne
Well, the ghosts are probably mad at all of these people in this episode. And we're going to begin with a haunted firehouse.
Sabrina
Oh, I feel like I don't have any that are mad. I have some good, nice ones.
Corinne
I'm not sure I have any ones.
Sabrina
That are mad either.
Corinne
It was just my way of doing.
Sabrina
It was a segue.
Corinne
It was a segue. Okay. Hi, friends. New listener here. I grew up in Ohio and your Athens asylum episode is what pulled me in. Here is a story about a haunted firehouse I grew up in in the house. My now retired dad was a firefighter my whole childhood. He retired a few years after I graduated college. Our town is very old and historical, so it's no shocker that the firehouse he worked in, there are several, Was very historical and had a lot of spooky stuff going on there. And to give a visual of how the building was laid out, it was an old house turned working firehouse. That's very common in historical towns for businesses to be refurbished and old homes to be used for businesses. There was a main floor, a basement, and upstairs, and the upstairs was very small. And that is where the firefighters would sleep. It was basically one big room where they all Slept on individual beds, small beds. And seriously, if you see a firefighter, thank them for what they do because it is not fancy. The main floor had a huge room that was later turned into a garage for the two fire trucks and for each person's locker, for their uniforms, for their personal items. And there was one living room, a kitchen, and an office. I can't stress enough how small this thing was. When you go into the living room, you can literally see the kitchen and the office. There's nowhere to hide.
Sabrina
I feel like that's an important detail.
Corinne
The basement was a gym with workout equipment. It had a pool table, a workbench with standard tools, and if you were in the basement, you could see every inch another place with nowhere to hide. When I was a kid, my mom would take me and my sister to visit my dad at work a lot. His schedule was 24 hours working, 48 hours off, et cetera. So we would visit my dad. We'd hang out with his crew, and those men were like uncles to us. And from time to time, we would hear strange noises in the building, which wasn't surprising given how old it was. They had to keep the gym in the basement because if they put that weight over the room with the trucks, the ceiling would literally collapse because it was that old. There were several times where we would hear loud noises inside when everyone else was outside. Once, I was sitting in the living room with my dad and another firefighter, and I heard a distinct loud noise and then footsteps running down the old stairs that led to the living room. My dad laughed and told me it was probably just the ghost playing jokes. I asked him what he meant, and he said, you know, the firefighters are pranksters, and the ghosts of past firefighters here are also, like to prank the current firefighters. If you don't believe me, go upstairs and see if someone is there. I knew he was serious because he would never usually let me go upstairs. Number one, because the guys were always trying to get some extra sleep. And number two, it's not appropriate for a small girl to be alone with a bunch of guys who are trying to sleep. So I went upstairs, and he was right. Every single person was outside. And this was a theme for what I call prank hauntings.
Sabrina
I love this.
Corinne
I know.
Sabrina
And they're all friendly.
Corinne
They're all friendly. The fire. The fire is just full of prankster ghosts. Aww. The prankster hauntings happened all the time in this building. When my dad would be in the basement working out, the radio would randomly come on and would always be Playing the same song. This was in the 90s. There was no Bluetooth, no way for anyone to control from another room. It was a super old radio and no matter what day or time it was, it would always be the same song and always in the same spot. What song? We don't know.
Sabrina
Yeah, I want to know.
Corinne
Another time, one of the guys was in the basement and a small light over the workbench would turn on and then back off. Not flashing, but turning on for a few seconds and then a few seconds later turning off, Just letting you know he's there. Back on again. He yelled out to the ghosts and jokingly said, stop your pranking. You're going to make me have a seizure during my workout. And the lights really started flashing. He started laughing and the flashing stopped. One of the guys would always sneak into the kitchen and take the middle slice of a sheet cake. Rude. I know.
Sabrina
I like the end pieces.
Corinne
They have more frosting.
Sabrina
Yeah. And I like the like little crispy on the outside.
Corinne
Yeah. I'm probably middle of the sheet cake.
Sabrina
I'll eat the whole thing.
Corinne
So that's true. There's no self control. I'm gonna get middle end corner. Everybody hated it. But one night he was in the kitchen sneaking a bite and the door to upstairs slammed and the kitchen lights turned on. He got so scared, he dropped the cake slice on the floor. The next morning he told everyone and they laughed and said, you deserve that and thank you, ghosts. Nothing sinister ever happened, which is why we were never scared. But my dad and the crew respected the building and the spirits that continued to have fun there. Yeah, thank you and see you on the other side. Rachel.
Sabrina
What a fun upbringing, right?
Corinne
Like they were there all the time if he was there every three days, basically. Like they spent so much time at.
Sabrina
That firefighter and the ghost probably loved having you come and teasing you, playing with you. I mean, they clearly were having fun in the afterlife and messing with all.
Corinne
The other firefighters, which thank goodness that that was the experience firefighters had. Because what they have to do in the places they have to go into, the people they have to help. Because that's another thing I feel like oftentimes when people think of firefighters, they think of them just fighting fire and like they respond to so many things, a variety of calls. So funny.
Sabrina
Doesn't a fire truck have to show up if an ambulance is called?
Corinne
I think so, yeah, something like that.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Corinne
There's a lot of opportunity for them to be traumatized and lose sleep. And I'm glad that the ghosts Here are like. No, we're just here for a good time. You guys get your rest. We're just, you know, we're just chilling. We're hanging out. We're boys eating cake.
Sabrina
Yeah, messing with each other. Speaking of traumatized, this one is a story about an EMT who lost a life. So there is a content warning of loss of life that perhaps caused spiritual activity or ptsd, as is the title of this email from our listener, Haley. I do have a really good one to end us on, so. Okay. Don't worry, they're not all sad. Hi Sabrina and Corinne. I'm a fairly new listener of Two Girls, One Ghost. This is back in 2019 when I started listening. I tried to make a rule for myself to only listen while I walk my dog and or work out because I moved into a new house that's pretty old and I don't wanna risk scaring myself. But that rule did not last long and I find myself listening from morning until 8pm and somehow I sleep peacefully at night. You two are so funny and relatable and remind me of my best friend and I. Anyway, thanks. This story is not my own personal experience, but my father's. This happened to him in the late summer, early fall of 2015, but he just told me about it a few weeks ago when I told him about your podcast, since him and I love scary movies, stories, myths and legends. Summer of 2015, my dad had just officially been named captain of the fire department where he worked and had been a firefighter slash paramedic for about 10 years. During the summer months, he had been on a lot of really bad critical medical calls with not the best outcomes. One of these calls in particular really stuck with him. To summarize, him and his crew had been called to a 27 year old male who was complaining of difficulty breathing. They got there and he said that the patient was breathing at a very fast rate. It was a textbook definition of cyanosis. Blue, ashy skin and in general in quotes, looked like shit. He was dressed in jeans and a flannel. They were getting him from his apartment to the ambulance to be taken to the emergency room. When he coded, my dad quickly intubated the patient and placed him in the ambulance to perform cpr. While they were performing cpr, suddenly the back door of the ambulance flew open. It was the patient's father. The father was taken out of the ambulance and the situation was being explained to him while the other crew members tried to revive the young man. Sadly, the patient was eventually pronounced dead. After rounds of cpr, the events directly after the death were filled with drama involving the family and their beliefs of the EMS crew not doing all they could to save him. And it just added a lot of stress to my dad and he thinks it might have something to do with the spiritual encounter. I'm about to tell you. So fast forward a few weeks after this incident and my dad is starting a 24 hour shift with his regular crew, which was not the crew he worked with on the death we just talked about. They were starting their morning with truck checks and he said he went into what was described as a utility closet to get something. When he stepped out of the closet, he smelled an awful smell, which he described as worse than rotten eggs and worse than death. And saw what appeared to be a tall, thin male walking by him who was wearing, can you guess it, an old flannel and jeans. My dad followed the mail, thinking maybe it was someone off shift stopping at a station. But he didn't see the mail anywhere. He went into every room and there was no one, nothing. While he was roaming around the station trying to find the mystery man, that smell of death and eggs would not stop following him. He couldn't escape it. He asked everyone who stopped by and nobody he was talking to could smell what he was smelling. He was the only one smelling it. At first he thought nothing of it but was worried about the smell. Like is there a gas leak? Is something going on? So he googled it and he googled rotten egg smell and he found a bunch of information that was described. Worse than rotten eggs are sometimes associated with ghosts and spirits.
Corinne
This hugely demonic.
Sabrina
I know, but maybe it just rotting smell, I don't know. Yeah, but then this is when my dad put all the pieces together and remembered the outfit of the man and shit a brick because he was freaked out. He says to this day he has not encountered the male since or any other spirits. And he's not sure if maybe he just saw this man because of how traumatic the experience was. But my theory is that the spirit came back to visit my dad, kind of to let him know that he has come to terms with his death and has accepted it. But I also believe that he has forgiven my dad and wanted to acknowledge that they and his team did everything they could to save his life. Feel free to read this story. My dad and I would be honored. I'll send in a Ouija story later when it isn't 10:30pm because this girl needs her sleep. Love you guys. See you on the other side.
Corinne
Haley, my gosh, I'm so curious. Like, I know this isn't, like, you should just, like, respect people's privacy, but I'm also curious, like, what happened in order for him to just. Cause it seems so sudden. It seems so surprising. Obviously, his family was in shock. In shock that it happened. He himself. It sounds like he might have called the ambulance for himself.
Sabrina
Right.
Corinne
So he knew something was wrong. And that's very confusing. And I am curious, too. Like, I'm thinking of the book if I Stay. I'm thinking of the Lovely Bones and kind of like, maybe he was in this sort of in between, in this confusion, and it took him going and witnessing someone from the crew that tried to save him to be able to be like, I'm finding some closure here and now I can move on. Right.
Sabrina
I almost also wonder if, like, because I do feel like PTSD and trauma does leave some type of residue or energy, that I almost wonder if this experience was so traumatic, given the death, given the way the family acted and all of this, like, sadness that this man's soul. What if he kind of stayed with Hailey's dad for some time and it was at this point that he kind of detached from the trauma. Like, he let go of him and was able to. That part of his spirit was able to depart, Move forward.
Corinne
Yeah, I hope so. This is so sad.
Sabrina
I know.
Corinne
I can't imagine having this. That career and that profession and having to see the things that you see.
Sabrina
And you're doing your best. Like, you're trying to save people. But of course, like, family and loved ones are going to be horrified and heartbroken and sometimes that's misplaced anger, you know, Saved too.
Corinne
Like, that's the thing.
Sabrina
It's. Yeah.
Corinne
Everyone dies eventually.
Sabrina
I know.
Corinne
Horrific.
Sabrina
So sad.
Corinne
Why do we ask for first responds again?
Sabrina
Because they see a lot of death.
Corinne
And good day from down under. G' day. G' day.
Sabrina
G' day.
Corinne
G' day.
Sabrina
Yikes.
Corinne
Sorry.
Sabrina
I feel like your hat was totally covering your eyes, but I wish that everyone could see you, like, panic. Yeah. You darted your eyes so quickly all over the place.
Corinne
Realizing that I just don't have it. Yeah. I cannot say it correctly. Okay. Thank you for being such bingeable badasses. Although going back through this catalog is a full catalog. Catalog. It's a full on time warp. My name is Riley. I was going back and listening to episode 170, and there was a listener story that involved a paranormal 911 call. And the father got home to police inside their house and only breathing could be heard. So I work for a state ambulance service here in Oz and was a call taker for a time and now a dispatcher. P.S. here we call 911000 so we'll go with 000. Yep. This only happened a week ago and I've only just gotten time to sit and write this out slash process it.
Sabrina
Wow.
Corinne
I was dispatching a quiet area for the night. I had hunkered down and I was watching a documentary because it's 3am and I can. When I finally get a job to dispatch I noticed that the call taker was someone in the room and they had put it through as a medical alarm activation. With no contact. I quickly dispatched my local crew to the case and thought nothing else of it until I got a request to attach police. No problem. This is normal. They just need police to go help them break in because nobody's answering the door. So I ask the police to go join in on the fun and sit back and I continue my show. Not even five minutes after the police show up I get a request for me to call one of the paramedics. So I do and the paramedic I spoke to says Ah. Just to let you know we've gained access and a neighbor is with us but the house is empty. And we've been advised that the owner passed a week ago and all of her services have been canceled including her medical alarm.
Sabrina
I just got chills that are like tingling.
Corinne
Yeah. Now I have a recorded line at work but I accidentally let out a low. Get fucked. We all agreed that it was some spooky weird shit and the best thing to do was just run. The ambos jumped in their truck and got out as quickly as they could and we closed the case. But we weren't done. You see. We can go back to 000 calls. So. So me, the call taker and my three supervisors all stood around to listen to the call.
Sabrina
Oh my gosh.
Corinne
You can hear the standard greeting from my colleague. And then nothing. A couple of hello. You have dialed 000 emergency. What is the address? And a few Are you there? But no response. So naturally she took the address that was registered to the alarm and sent a response there. All you could hear was this garbled sound as if someone was underwater. And sometimes what sounded like a moan or a yell but there was no intelligible words. We were all so spooked. I called the paramedics back and this time it was another ambulance. And all she had to say in Response was I fucking hate 3am and then asked if she could go back to the station as she needed to watch something nice. So there's my 000 story for you. Love your work. Riley.
Sabrina
I'm so curious because this woman had passed away like a week earlier or a couple weeks earlier. I'm so curious if there was a call from the night that she passed away.
Corinne
Oh, yeah.
Sabrina
That she's like reliving or maybe she wanted to or wished that she tried to make a call but it was too late and now like the call finally went through or something.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
Oh, I still have chills, especially on my left leg right here. I actually when I was searching for stories, there are quite a few life alert going off when the person's like, not home. There was one story of a listener was home her mom. The day prior, the life alert went off because she fell or something and was admitted into the hospital. The next night she's home alone. Her mom's in the hospital with her life alert. Her life alert is not in the house. All of a sudden, like, EMTs and police show up knocking on the door and they're like, the life alert just went off. And she's like, my mom's like, already in the hospital. This happened yesterday.
Corinne
We need to pull that one and read that.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Corinne
This is also reminding me a little bit of. I won't for the life of me remember when we read it. But in one of the encounters, there was a woman who had passed and like a week or two later, like her son or daughter had called to try to cancel a subscription. And they were like, oh, she already called. She called like two days ago. She was like, no, my mother has passed. She passed two weeks ago. And they're like, I don't know what to tell you. She called and canceled her subscription two days ago.
Sabrina
Helping with all the cancellations.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
Okay.
Corinne
She said something like, I won't be needing it anymore as a reason to remember.
Sabrina
Oh, my gosh. You all have had some amazing and wild, scary, happy, incredible stories. So keep sending them to us. Okay, so this is from our listener lj, and it's called help me solve a crime, question mark, question mark, question mark. Hello, beautifuls. This is technically an open investigation, so please just use lj. She her if you read this.
Corinne
Okay.
Sabrina
A few weeks ago, you asked for law enforcement stories, and boy, do I have a fun one. At the beginning of this year, and this was set in 2021, I was on patrol with my partner when we got a call from Dispatch about a fire. The caller stated that they witnessed three people lighting something on fire. Throw it on the ground, and it lit the brush and grass on fire. The suspects were described as follows. One female, two males. One of the males was wearing a bright yellow green jacket, while the other two were wearing dark colored hoodies. Dispatch also told us that the caller's sons were chasing the three individuals through the woods. Also crazy?
Corinne
Yes.
Sabrina
My partner and I arrived on the scene. He dropped me off to wait for the firefighters, and he went to find the suspects. I heard over the radio that my partner found three individuals matching the description and the caller's sons at the pavilion were not too far from the crime scene. Luckily, the fire department arrived swiftly and put out the flames. Since that was under control, I met up with my partner and the suspects and the witnesses, and now a couple of other agencies that had responded to the arson. My partner and a state police officer were interviewing the suspects. So I interviewed the witnesses, the caller, his sons, and another witness. The two sons were so out of breath from running through the woods. But somehow our suspects were not showing signs of fatigue at all. So if they had just been chased, shouldn't they have been tired? They, along with the two other witnesses, positively identified these three people as the ones who started the fire. But these suspects were adamant that they did not start the fire, that they weren't even in the area when it happened. One of the suspects had a hiking app running with a GPS location and with times, and another suspect had a photo of them that was timestamped, and you could tell it was about half a mile away when the fire was started. What? So there is no way that these three were anywhere near the crime scene at the time of the fire being started. Yet the two people who were feet from them, chasing them through the woods, were positive it was them, and they were wearing the exact same things as described. There weren't many people in the park that day because it was chilly and windy in March. There were no other people in the area when it went down. And this is the only person who was wearing a distinct bright yellow green jacket. Like I said, it's still an open investigation, so I don't think it will end up being solved. But the more I think about it, I'm like, was this a weird glitch in the Matrix? A time slip? A weird, evil doppelganger thing?
Corinne
That's what I was thinking. Doppelgangers, right? Like a trio of doppelgangers met up, befriended each other, and were just like.
Sabrina
Let'S cause chaos, wreak some havoc. But this is not the only strange thing I've experienced at this job. I've been alone in the office and I've heard someone pacing upstairs. My coworker came in one day and heard another coworker having a phone conversation upstairs, only for that same coworker to get into work five minutes later. They weren't in the office when they were heard.
Corinne
Ooh, I feel like there's a lot of doppelganger energy.
Sabrina
I know. Once I was talking to someone on the first floor when we heard something fall upstairs. We had a chair piled with equipment, and the box that was under everything was on the floor across the office while the rest of the equipment was still piled on the chair. So it was like the chair, the box, and all this equipment. The box was pulled out from under all the equipment, but the equipment was still fine.
Corinne
Magic.
Sabrina
Magic.
Corinne
It's like blowing a tablecloth and keeping all the tables on.
Sabrina
Party trick physics. My last story from this job happened shortly after clearing the scene from an EMS call. I was driving back to the office and I saw a kid walk across the road about 50 yards in front of me. I pulled up to where the kid was and rolled my window down to give him a hard time about wandering away from his family. But the kid was gone. I couldn't see him anywhere. There was nowhere he could have gone. We were basically in the middle of the woods and there was no family or other people nearby. I got to my office and I shared this experience with my coworkers. And apparently I was pretty close to where a Boy Scout was killed by a falling tree while camping with his dad and his troop.
Corinne
Oh my God.
Sabrina
I recently moved to a new position and I've already heard there's a lot of history of activity at one park. Hopefully I'll have some more stories to share with you soon. Sabrina
I know.
Corinne
I can't imagine. So, so, so sad. Oh, I really hope his spirit is just. It's an active choice to sometimes come down and wander. And it's not that he's trapped there.
Sabrina
He'S just exploring the woods.
Corinne
I hope so for the enjoyment of the woods and not confused and not able to move on. But my God, yeah. It does sound like this location is ripe with doppelgangers. So weird. Like the mimics. Or like, maybe there's weird timeline shifts or.
Sabrina
It's weird because, like, if it was a weird timeline or glitch in the Matrix, it makes me wonder. Those three people, which one belongs to this universe? Which of the three were the ones who started the fire from this one? Or were they from a different universe? And they came in real quick, popped in and then. Or is there a weird time warp thing happening in those woods in that park? And they could be in two places at once in a weird way.
Corinne
Is this trio kind of like superhero kids?
Sabrina
They can glitch.
Corinne
Are they able to date multiple things at once? It's like dark, which I never finished. I think I got like one or two episodes.
Sabrina
The last season was like, hard to. It was just hard to conceptualize because it was so out of this world.
Corinne
Yeah. No way.
Sabrina
But in this one it is.
Corinne
And then it makes me wonder. Okay, so now I'm making up a scenario in my head where it's like the brush fire, which is obviously a bad thing because it can be so dangerous to start a fire. Was that first to like, stop something or like, do something that. That we don't know.
Sabrina
We don't know.
Corinne
I don't know.
Sabrina
It's an unsolved problem and it doesn't seem like it will be solved.
Corinne
Right. Also, the fact that they all had alibis too, and. And evidence of their alibis.
Sabrina
Thank goodness they had the evidence.
Corinne
Yeah. But it also kind of makes me now think that maybe they do split off and have. I don't. I don't know.
Sabrina
But all three of them were seen. And there's a photo of all three of them at the time that the fire was started. Far away.
Corinne
So weird.
Sabrina
And they weren't out of breath and the people were chasing the suspects the whole time.
Corinne
It's so, so confusing.
Sabrina
Also, if you see the pendulum Daniel moving, it is because there is a heater fan air blowing on him and not because he's trying to communicate.
Corinne
Yeah, I guess this winter is not a good time to actually test the pendulums.
Sabrina
No, but I wanted him to be here.
Corinne
Okay, I have one that's called Three Stories in One.
Sabrina
Love it.
Corinne
Perfect. Hello, my ghostesses. Buckle up, ladies. This story is long and it has three different ghost stories thrown together. It's also really not long. It's pretty short. One of my close friends was moving, so for her going away party, she had a bonfire like you do in Iowa. So I'm sitting around the fire, and we start traveling to the idea of ghost stories. I started telling mine to one guy who started to listen. So I was about 7 or 8 at my local community theater. I was sitting alone backstage, and there was only two people on stage. I'm sitting on a bar stool when all of the sudden, someone pulled on the back of my shirt. I turn around, and no one was there. I flipped out. I ran to the scene shop, and 20 years later, I still refused to be alone in the theater in the dark. So this guy decides to scoff at me and tells me this story. And warning, this story happens to be pretty graphic. Oh, my God. Imagine in the theater trying to one up your story. This is around the bonfire. So she tells this guy, like, oh, yeah, it was tugged as a child in the theater. And he's like, you think that's a scary story? Here's mine. Okay, so here.
Sabrina
This is actually my dream bonfire, right?
Corinne
So his dad, slash uncle, I don't quite remember, is a first responder from that area that I live in. And he went down to Louisiana to help right after Hurricane Katrina hit. He and a few guys were assigned to walk down this one row of houses to see if there were any bodies that happened to be there for them to pull. The flood level went to the roof in this area, and that was after the water levels went down. So at one point, one of the team members starts saying that they can hear a baby crying somewhere. So thinking that there might be a child somewhere that's alive, they start running to the sound.
Sabrina
Oh, no.
Corinne
They find the house where the cry was the loudest. They burst in, they run upstairs, and they find the room, and. And inside the crib was a small baby that was, and to make it a little less graphic from what he told me, sadly passed away. The guy who first heard the cry went to pick up the lifeless child, and as soon as he touched it, the crying stopped. So as terrifying as this story is, the guy was obviously trying to gross me out with some of the details he was sharing. We went back and forth about how he's a skeptic and I'm very much a believer. And during the latter conversation across the bonfire, another person stops our conversation dead when he tells us this story and backstory. This third person is Native American. He tells us the story about how he has had a spirit following his family named Herbie.
Sabrina
I like Herbie.
Corinne
Don't be fooled by the name. Oh, the way he described the spirit is freaking terrifying. Okay. He described Herbie as dressed like the Grim Reaper, but crawled on all fours, exorcist style. Apparently, way, way back, this spirit was human and did this guy's ancestors wrong and was punished to eternal servitude to his family.
Sabrina
What?
Corinne
From what I could understand, this spirit is bound to his family because they have a piece of his skeleton wrapped in a medicine man's protection. And not only does this spirit protect this family, it can be sicced onto other people. Someone wronged this guy's dad and he sent Herbie after him. And it did not fare well for the other guy. Yeah, so then I went home, I watched rainbows and unicorns, so I didn't have nightmares for months. I love your guys podcast. I'm still working on current episodes. See you on the other side, Megan.
Sabrina
I want to know way more details about Herbie and who are you friends with.
Corinne
Like, what's this bonfire?
Sabrina
Can we be invited?
Corinne
Because this is. People have intense stories.
Sabrina
Yeah, you collect some haunted friends.
Corinne
Jeez.
Sabrina
The Katrina one is so sad.
Corinne
That one is traumatizing to hear. And I.
Sabrina
And I imagine that there are so many stories similar to that or spiritual stories. I mean, that area is already so spiritual and filled with energy, but, like, with all of that death and all of that trauma, there were probably so many experiences of, like, hearing someone. But was it their spirit and the child?
Corinne
Okay, well, I've never, like, it's. It's wild that there's like a crouching crawling, creepy ass spirit that you would feel is probably, like, the scariest thing in the world, but that. It's like it belongs to you, but.
Sabrina
Clearly it's forced to stay there. So, like, it's almost like if you let it go, it would probably almost enact revenge on you, maybe.
Corinne
Or, like, could this be the time to break the curse? Like, can you separate, release him, what your ancestors did and what this guy did with your ancestors? Like, move on. Let's.
Sabrina
Yeah. Talk about breaking incestual generational curses. Yeah. Oh, my gosh. Okay, well, since I teased this and I clearly was butchering the way that the story was told, I did find it about the Life alert. This is called demon dark entity story.
Corinne
Okay, well, this is not how I thought it was gonna start. Based on the information you had said.
Sabrina
This is from our listener, Rebecca. I love you both and I adore your podcasts, and I have a great experience to share with you. It's my sister's demon story, but I have her permission to share. I have other stories of my own, but this is Dramatic. Okay, so this is written from Rebecca's sister's perspective. So it's first person I received a call from my mom, who was in the hospital for a health issue and was awaiting discharge to home. She was concerned about the condition of her house because apparently she had let things go. She knew it was a filthy mess and asked me to clean it up so it would be a safe place for her to discharge from the hospital. I drove a few hours to her home. I arrived with all my cleaning supplies and a suitcase with my belongings, planning to be there for a few days to help her out. When I let myself inside, it was obvious that my mother had done nothing for months. Every dish was dirty and moldy, garbage was everywhere and apparently my mother had a frequent craving for Chinese delivery food. There was a nasty smell like no laundry had been done in several months. It was bad. And on top of the physical things I could see and smell, there was an overall sense of gloom, a funky dark energy to the place. Which makes sense with all of this. Yeah, the first thing I did was change all of the bedding so I would have a clean place to sleep for the next few nights. And then I went to work on doing a deep clean of my mom's house. The first night I woke up at around 3am and the bedside lamp in my mom's room had turned itself on. I turned it off and went back to sleep. The second night I woke up again at 3am the bedside lamp had again turned itself on, but this time I realized it was not a coincidence. So I unplugged it and went back to sleep. The next morning I put the lamp in the closet. The third night, again 3:00am, I was awoken, but this time my bedroom was full of paramedics and firefighters. I was so shocked what was going on and they explained to me that my life alert button had gone off. There had been no response verbally on the device and there was no response at the front door. So they came in. But I explained, yeah, my mother had a life alert button, but she was in the hospital and that life alert button was downstairs in the living room. They insisted that someone had pushed it and we went to check it out. They looked it over to ensure there were batteries and they showed me and explained that it is not easy to accidentally push it. You have to push it intentionally to set off the alarm. I had no idea and no explanation as to how it had been pushed. The next morning I woke up and went to war because it was obvious to me at this point that there was something fucking with me and whatever it had been was probably fucking with my mom. For some time now it felt like a demon. I got some water, prayed over it, walked around the house sprinkling water in every room and anointing all the windows and doors. I commanded in the name of Jesus for the entity to leave the house and that they were not allowed to enter the house again and could not interact with me or my mother. They were banished. And truly, instantly I felt better, like the gloom lifted and the house felt lighter. The fourth night at around 3am I awoke. This time there was someone knocking on the window to my bedroom from the outside. No one was there. I knew in my soul it was whatever entity or demon I had banished letting me know it was still there. I prayed for it to leave me alone in the name of Jesus and the knocking stopped. I finished cleaning and set my mom up with a housekeeping service and a neighbor who could run errands for her like grocery shop. I was happy to welcome her home after she was discharged from the hospital and my mom was very appreciative and she was impressed with how nice the place looked and smelled. Before I left, she told me that she could tell that I had done something else to her house. She said it felt lighter energetically, the energy was very different and she was like it feels like a darkness has been removed. I never mentioned anything to my mom about the gloomy feeling or these 3am incidents that that occurred four nights in a row or about the blessing I had done to the house. But sure enough, she felt it. As far as I know, the entity never returned. I hope you enjoyed this encounter from Rebecca and her sister. Corinne
It'S interesting because if she hadn't said that it feels demonic and it feels dark and oppressive, I would have thought that perhaps the spirits of the house were like, oh my God, who are you? You're not the person who's supposed to be here. After witnessing probably the life alert button going off and her mom going to the hospital being taken to the hospital. So they're probably like, beep, beep, beep. Like press the alarm and get this girl. Intruder, intruder, intruder. Like that's how they know get people here. You press this button.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Corinne
But the fact that it did feel oppressive and dark obviously, like you.
Sabrina
Right. It is interesting to call first responders though, like it does make me wonder if there was a good spirit with the bad spirit or if it was just a bad spirit trying to fuck with her and mess up her sleep.
Corinne
It's also one of those things where it's like when someone has a house that there's like a hoarding or lack of cleaning and that sort of situation. Obviously they're in such a tough state mentally and probably physically as well. But yeah, like, it makes sense that there's some. There are unfortunately targets for entities that like feed on chaos and depressive states and people who aren't feeling quite themselves.
Sabrina
Yeah. I am glad that their mom has them to help clean and take care of her.
Corinne
Me too. I have another story. We get a double one from riley who sent the 000 call. So Riley sent in another story called Don't Scare the Baby Paramedics. Good day, ladies. Good day.
Sabrina
Was that better? That was better.
Corinne
I have a few stories to share about the haunted accommodations my employer used to put us up in for our training courses. Besides the horrible food, shocking state of the bathrooms, holes in the floor that dropped from the top floor to the bottom, and the amount of dust that layered every square inch, there was also plenty of paranormal shit going down as the accommodations is on the grounds of an old psychiatric hospital in Sydney, Australia.
Sabrina
Okay. I mean, speaking about, like having dark energy festering in a place where it's like cluttered and dirty and not clean.
Corinne
It's what?
Sabrina
Like, it's one thing to have crappy accommodations in the sense of like small bed, not like a lot of room.
Corinne
Yeah, but you can dust. Yeah. This is it.
Sabrina
Can Be clean.
Corinne
Was this just a one time thing? It was like their first time booking this accommodation and they had no idea that it was going to be so terrible?
Sabrina
I don't know.
Corinne
Or is this like a continued thing where it's like, oh, we get the best price over it? Yeah, well, so and so in Bedbug in Bedbug in. They used to bring patients through tunnels via the harbor at the psychiatric hospital.
Sabrina
Oh, wow.
Corinne
So onto the story. The first story takes place at 3am for a dear friend of mine who needed to go to the bathroom to paint a picture. The lights on our floor, top floor, did not work in either the male or female bathrooms. So he was minding his own business when he heard a crash and a thud in the cubicle next door to him. And being the classic bloke he is, he yells out, you all right, mate? You alright, mate?
Sabrina
It was very.
Corinne
This is not gonna go well.
Sabrina
I'm gonna stop our friend. Not food, not food.
Corinne
With a groan in response. So he finishes up and he rushes to the cubicle next to him where there is nobody to be seen. But the door is now off of its hinges and is now in the cubicle. He did not.
Sabrina
Off of its hinges?
Corinne
Yeah. So the door crashed.
Sabrina
Jesus.
Corinne
And someone was groaning. Who was groaning? He did not hear any footsteps before or after. No flushing. And he was the only one in there at the entrance. He goes white to this day, telling this story. Oh, so scary. It's like right next to you as your pants are down. Another story happened to another lady on my floor. She had gotten back to our accommodation after a weekend and put on some fresh sheets as she always did. Later that night, after a couple rounds of trivia and beers and a snitty. What's a snitty?
Sabrina
I don't know, like cigarette or something. Yeah, I don't know. We both thought the same thing. Snitty.
Corinne
Snitty slang Australia.
Sabrina
A chicken schnitzel which comes with a generous side of chips and a forest of a salad.
Corinne
That's not what we thought. Not at all. Okay, now we know what a snitty is.
Sabrina
It's legendary.
Corinne
Wow. Beers and a robust meal. Basically chicken dinner. Okay, so after a couple of rounds of trivia and beers and a snitty, we all head back to head off to bed. We wake a few hours later to our friend screaming and myself and three blokes on our floor and the other five women all ran to her room to see if she was okay. She was woken by something dragging her out of Bed. And when she was released, she turned the light on. And her fresh clean sheets were covered in numbers written in pencil, which she swears to this day. She didn't have any pencils.
Sabrina
What numbers?
Corinne
That's freaking.
Sabrina
Oh, ghost got a math. I don't know. That's terrible.
Corinne
That is. Oh, my God. Feels like some ancient curse was, like, written on. Yeah, on her bed.
Sabrina
Jesus.
Corinne
Our last story happened to me and to one of the younger guys on our floor. A group of us had just done a night tour of the grounds on a ghost hunt. And I refused to look at anything or anywhere because I'm not prepared for that.
Sabrina
Just be blindfolded the whole ghost hunt.
Corinne
We were making our way back to our rooms and we decided to take the lift. Now, we were warned prior that this place was haunted. And the lift is ancient. And it's also a little spooky. So smart decisions on our part. We get in the elevator, we hit level four, the top level, and off we go. The doors close, the lift shutters to life, and the lights go out. We're in complete darkness. We're now both gripping each other. We get to level three, the doors open as if someone was waiting to get in. And then it closes again. But instead of going up, we're going back down. The lights are still out. We get to the bottom, the door is open, but only halfway, so we're unable to get out. And then it closes and we're rattling our way back up again. But this time, as the doors close, the lights flicker on. And this time we get to the top floor. My mate and I, we rush out as soon as the lift doors open. And once we're out of the lift, we realized just how cool it was to be in that lift because the corridor was warm and. And how we both felt so scared in the lift. But before long, we were laughing and we were in good spirits again. So fuck that lift. We never went back in.
Sabrina
In good spirits is a good phrase.
Corinne
To use some other honorable mentions from this place. A mate was held down in the middle of the night by a weight on his shoulders and chest. On level two, you could hear running up and down the corridor. In another wing of the accommodation, you could hear yelling at all hours of the night, and doors that were locked would be wide open. There were also reports of faces and shadows being seen in the windows. So, yeah, safe to say there were more complaints than there were compliments. And now trainees get lush apartments. My wife got the nicest apartment for training, and I feel cheated Lots of love from Australia, Riley.
Sabrina
Well, Riley, you like ghost stories. That's why you listen to us, right? So maybe you actually benefited because now you have ghost stories to share, man. But it's also so sad because it was a psychiatric ward. So all of these encounters almost feel reminiscent of the people who were in the psychiatric ward. The writing numbers on the sheets, the being dragged out of bed. Like, did a patient get dragged out of bed by a nurse or a doctor?
Corinne
Screaming pain, being fearful, being held down. Like the door to the bathroom, like, busting through. Like, maybe someone kicked it. Like, there's so much danger.
Sabrina
There's so much.
Corinne
Yeah. You're making me feel really bad for all these spirits.
Sabrina
I know. A ghost rid an elevator with you. That's kind of cool.
Corinne
That is cool. And a skinny ghost, because I barely had it open for them to get out. The first floor. Slenderman.
Sabrina
Oh, man. Why does, like, the image of Slenderman being a psychiatric patient kind of make sense?
Corinne
Because it does.
Sabrina
And also want to be a children's book in my brain, I have one that is wild to wrap up with.
Corinne
Okay.
Sabrina
And it is called Comforted by the Ghost of an EMT after being hit by a truck. From our listener, Sammy.
Corinne
Whoa.
Sabrina
Hello, beautiful ladies. First and foremost, I wanted to thank you for allowing such a safe and welcoming space for paranormal stories. My story, though very heartwarming, is very emotionally triggering to me and has taken a while for me to feel comfortable to share it.
Corinne
Well, thank you for feeling comfortable enough to share it with us.
Sabrina
Thank you. To preface, I was in a horrific car accident in 2018 on Memorial Day in Arizona, while driving to my friend's going away brunch. I was stopped waiting to turn right at a red light when a truck on the opposite side of the street ran the light and overcorrected, sending him directly towards me. The driver crashed into my driver's side so hard that I was pushed off the street, pushing my passenger side of my car into an electrical box. I was pinned in my car on both sides with a lifted truck, sitting on my left leg. On impact, my head crashed through the driver's side window, leaving me unconscious for about one to two minutes.
Corinne
Oh, my God.
Sabrina
I had absolutely no feeling in my legs and extreme pain in my hip and back. As you can imagine, I was screaming bloody murder, sobbing hysterically and screaming for a God that I don't even believe in to help me. In the midst of my screams and punching of the steering wheel to move the pain somewhere other than the literal everywhere, I was Feeling it, someone shoved their upper body into my passenger side window that was shattered on impact. It was a middle aged woman who stated that she was an emt. I reached out immediately and I grabbed her hand and sobbed in the calmest voice I have ever heard. She asked me where my pain was, told me not to move my neck and held my hand while I panicked. I was unable to move, still crushed by this large truck practically sitting in my lap. This unknown woman had such a comforting aura around her and I squeezed her hand until I don't even know when. But this is where it gets foggy and a bit creepy. I don't ever remember letting go of her hand, nor do I remember her leaving my car window. As the fire department tore the door off of my car, paramedics pulled me out, rushed me to the ambulance where they started an iv, cut off my clothes. Big sorry to my friend whose brand new shirt I had borrowed and totally ruined. Least of anyone's worries.
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
And I was rushed to the nearest trauma center. Now I lived in Arizona by myself at the time and had no family near me. The police were able to contact my parents who lived in Florida, and they rushed to the airport while I was in a trauma center dealing with a fractured knee, a pelvis broken in three places and a severe concussion.
Corinne
My gosh.
Sabrina
When my mom and dad arrived at the hospital later that day, I told them about this woman EMT stranger that helped me and I begged for them to call the police and find her name so that I could thank her as soon as I could walk again. My mom did just that. However, there was no woman there. This woman did not exist. My police report has only two witnesses, two joggers that were on the opposite side of the street, and PD stated that there were no female EMTs or paramedics on the scene. I remember her so clearly. But the EMTs and paramedics and ambulance driver were all male. But I insisted that there was a woman and I needed to find her. Upon calling a different officer that was on the scene to see if he had any answers, he explained to my mom that even the video evidence from the scene shows no woman, nobody by the passenger seat window. To this day, I cannot tell if the severe head trauma was playing tricks on me. But every other detail I have about that crash is still so ingrained in my memory. And correct. I can't deny that safe feeling of having her hold my hand and that vivid memory of her. It's a feeling I can't put into words. I firmly believe that this woman was real. Not a figment of my imagination or my injuries, but maybe a spirit reaching out to help me. Whoever's family ghost she is, she is still taking care of those in need from the other side. Thankfully, over a year later, I'm walking around and doing so much better. I still have memory lapses occasionally, as well as nerve damage in my back and hip, but I'll take it. Thank you for taking the time to read my story of the ghost EMT who helped save my life and my sanity. I wish you both nothing but happiness and safety. Stay spooky. I'll see you on the other side. Sammy.
Corinne
Wow. Oh, my gosh. A horrible, horrible accident. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I can't imagine.
Sabrina
I know, and I'm so grateful you're okay.
Corinne
Yeah. Yeah. It's just so wild. Cause there are so many stories like this where it's like, what is it? Is it a guardian angel? Is it.
Sabrina
I know.
Corinne
An emt? The spirit of an emt or just someone who.
Sabrina
She was.
Corinne
Yeah, right. How are we brought together with these people who help us in those moments? It's like, it reminds me. I feel like we more recently read an email too, where someone's dad hit a telephone pole and was told by a teenage boy not to get out of the car. And there were live wires everywhere, but, like, that boy was not alive. It's like, yeah, how is this happening?
Sabrina
Are they in that area? Are they. Is there like a. A life alert for the ghost? And they're like. And they're like, someone needs us. Someone send an auntie. Because there's also. There was a whole Unsolved Mysteries episode about this phenomenon. There was a man who was in a really, really horrific car accident. His car had flipped, and a woman, like, pulled him out of the car and, like, sat with him and kept him company until the EMTs and everyone arrived. But then he starts asking around for that woman. And they were like, you were alone when we came here. And he's like, I didn't get myself.
Corinne
Out of the car, which is so crazy. And I feel like it might have been that same episode, and I think we talked about it on our podcast, where there was that car that I think flipped over on the side of the ridge. And the only way to get to that car was basically like a 10 minute sprint. And a guy got out of his car, and he was prepared to make that 10 minute sprint, get over the bridge and get to the ridge, and within, like, 30 seconds, he was at the car pulling the guy out and he was like, how did I just get here? And it was like something blipped him over there.
Sabrina
Chills. Oh, I mean, amazing.
Corinne
So amazing.
Sabrina
That's a beautiful story in all of these instances. And like, Sammy, maybe it's your own guardian.
Corinne
Yeah. That's a good idea to have someone with the MT training.
Sabrina
I know that this probably. I can't imagine like I would ever want to go back to this place, but the scene where the accident happened, if you stood in that spot by the pole where the woman had reached her hand in through the passenger side window, like, would she reappear to you?
Corinne
Yeah.
Sabrina
Would. I don't know.
Corinne
Yeah. Would you just suddenly have like a knowing and downloading.
Sabrina
Would her hand touch you?
Corinne
Who it is?
Sabrina
Yeah. It's wild. Ugh.
Corinne
