Sabrina
Hey. Hello.
Ryan Reynolds
I have so many things to tell you.
Sabrina
Really?
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah. Well, first of all, I got us coffee this morning and I was driving through the drive through and I'm listening to Grady Hendricks Witchcraft for Wayward Girls right now. And let me just play for you the segment that was playing when I went to the window to pick up our coffees.
Sabrina
Oh, God.
Ryan Reynolds
Keep in mind, we're in.
Sabrina
Oh, you went through. Oh. Cause you were a drive through.
Ryan Reynolds
I did drive through, but it's Salem, so this probably isn't that weird. But I was like, this cannot continue. I'll just ori glay essay and ye our pay essay and ye ingdom que FA is ye ein they or fay. And it's Latin. But it keeps going. I could be like, surely it's going to stop. And it will be the audiobook. And they'll know I'm listening to an audiobook. But it kept going.
Sabrina
You're like, oh, I'm listening to Duolingo. I'm learning pig Latin.
Ryan Reynolds
I'm literally doing a spell on all of you at Dunkin Donuts.
Sabrina
That is creepy. I wonder if that's ever happened. I'm sure. Wait. Okay. Have you heard of the drama on TikTok? Sorry, I know that you said that you have so much to know.
Ryan Reynolds
Now we need to know about the drama.
Sabrina
Side note, it's the drama and I have no names, but I think it's going to be easy to just like search. There is some someone on TikTok that has a hair salon, and they have a very popular TikTok profile, and they do, like, really cool cuts and colors. Yes. So there is a hair salon and a hairstylist, and apparently there's, like.
Ryan Reynolds
I'm, like, scared to talk about it.
Sabrina
I know. Me too. Not really. We have so many witches on our side.
Ryan Reynolds
That's true. We're invincible.
Sabrina
No, I shouldn't say that.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, we forgot to turn the lamp on.
Sabrina
It's not too late. I'll do it now. Ready?
Ryan Reynolds
One, two, three.
Sabrina
Okay, so there's someone who owns a hair salon on TikTok, and they're very popular, and they do really cool cuts and colors, and they're very, like, spunky and, like, punk almost. Yeah, yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
Like, cool has, like, a very specific style that people go to them for very specific haircuts.
Sabrina
Yeah. And they seem really cool, and everyone loved them. But then there was a one person who made a whole thing being like, I think I got hexed. There was some weird stuff happening. Someone went in for a haircut, wasn't entirely happy with the haircut, asked to come in to get some corrections done.
Ryan Reynolds
Which is absolutely normal and should be normalized and totally fine. There should be no problem with asking for what you asked for, especially if.
Sabrina
You'Re a new client, too, because, like, right. You guys are learning each other. Right. Like, you have new hair going different ways that they're not familiar with. You might not know exactly how to ask for what you're looking for.
Ryan Reynolds
Like, also, like, from my experience, I've gone to hairstylists, and I've shown, like, two pictures and been like, I want, like, this type of vibe. And they're like, those are two completely different colors. But, like, to me, they looked the same because I don't know, the mixing, concoction details.
Sabrina
Yes. So we understand that. But someone posted about going to this hairstylist not being entirely happy, asking to come back and get some corrections. And when they sat in the chair, all around the hair salon were really strange, like, seance hexing type of artifacts.
Ryan Reynolds
Well, the first big red flag was the salt circle around her chair.
Sabrina
Yeah. When you look down at, like, the pedestal that you sit on in, like, the hairstylist chair, there's a perfect, like, thick layer of salt just around the base of it. There were, like, pentagrams and just different things all around the house.
Ryan Reynolds
She even asked. She was like, oh, did you start decorating for Halloween? And the hairstylist looks at her and is like, no.
Sabrina
Right. And it was also, people started Looking at the videos of this hair salon, looking at how they had decorated in October, and none of this is decor that they use. So it wasn't just, like, taken out of storage for this. It was purposefully brought in, potentially, for this one specific appointment. Because there was not shelter in any of the other chairs.
Ryan Reynolds
Nope. And then at one point, the hairdresser disappeared, and the, like, normal poppy music that was playing in the salon shifted to what sounded like a spell or a hex being repeated.
Sabrina
Like a very creepy, very creepy music.
Ryan Reynolds
And then the hairdresser returned and, like, finished the haircut, but very coldly, apparently. Very coldly.
Sabrina
Yeah. Which is really interesting because all this came out, and immediately people did not believe the original poster who was talking about this, because this was a really.
Ryan Reynolds
Like, beloved, respected hairstylist.
Sabrina
And then when people started comparing the pictures that this girl took on her phone of, like, all the stuff around the chair and around the salon as she was sitting there, and people were comparing it to all of the TikTok videos from inside of that salon and at that chair, they were like, holy shit.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Sabrina
People be out here hexing.
Ryan Reynolds
And don't be. Stop it.
Sabrina
Stop it.
Ryan Reynolds
We banish thee for hexing.
Sabrina
Just no hexing. Be nice. Put salt on your food and over your shoulder.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, okay. My second story.
Sabrina
Mm.
Ryan Reynolds
I have wanted to tell you this since it happened, but I waited to tell you on the podcast. We have a new bigfoot lover in my family, and she is two years old.
Sabrina
Yes. Yes.
Ryan Reynolds
I'm not even kidding.
Sabrina
As background, there's already my favorite. Sorry.
Ryan Reynolds
It's like, you're gonna die. You're devoted.
Sabrina
No, I mean, it's taking your place.
Ryan Reynolds
She's my favorite too. It's fine. So as some context, like, a really long time ago, I can't even remember, I was going through my photos, and I was with Noemi, and she loves animals. So I was looking at, like, safari pictures and stuff, and there was a video of a monkey. So now every time I see her, she asks for monkey video. And so I favor.
Sabrina
She remembers everything you showed me.
Ryan Reynolds
She remembers everything. And truly unprompted, she'll be like, monkey. And then she'll grab my phone and be like, monkey. So I favorited it so that I have it, like, easier to access rather than have to, like, find it in my camera roll. So I'm going through my favorites, and there's this photo in my favorites from when you and I went to the Cryptid Museum. Oh, yeah.
Sabrina
The Museum of Cryptozoology in Portland, Maine.
Ryan Reynolds
And it's like you and I doing a heart around Bigfoot. And she. I'm scrolling through my favorites, kind of how I'm doing it right now and trying to find the monkey video. And she stops me here, and she goes, I like him. And I go, do you know who that is? And I say, it's Bigfoot. And she goes, bigfoot. Then it just became a thing this past weekend where she kept asking for Bigfoot. Truly, we're in the. I have multiple videos of her. So I'm putting her to bed on Friday night, and she keeps asking for a monkey video. And I'm like, well, let's get in bed. And I climb into bed with her. I'm, like, singing a song to her, reading to her, and she keeps begging for monkey. But I take out my phone, and she goes, bigfoot. And so now she's starting to ask me for Bigfoot instead of monkey.
Sabrina
Now, you were to get all of the Bigfoot caught on camera footage.
Ryan Reynolds
100%.
Sabrina
You're gonna show her the Patterson Gimlin Gimlet, Whatever the.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah, she's.
Sabrina
Heck.
Ryan Reynolds
That's called the biggest Bigfoot enthusiast. We're literally in the car, driving down to the beach for my sister's birthday, and we're all singing Pink Pony Club, or all. Correct. Noemi's singing Pink Pony Club because as.
Sabrina
If I couldn't be any more obsessed.
Ryan Reynolds
With her, Lexi and I are not allowed to sing. She goes, briby mama. No sing. But as I, like, try to film her, the second she saw my phone, she goes, bigfoot. So I have that on camera. Bigfoot.
Sabrina
Wanna see Bigfoot?
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Sabrina
I like to see Bigfoot.
Ryan Reynolds
There's Bigfoot. Who's that? I want to hold it.
Sabrina
Who is that?
Ryan Reynolds
You want to hold it? Yeah. You want to hold Bigfoot.
Sabrina
I'm obsessed. I feel like actually, Noemi, and I'm, like, starting to wonder what else she's into, because so far, two of her biggest interests, Bigfoot and Chapel Roan, are also my two biggest interests.
Ryan Reynolds
Dang. My sister was like, have you told Corinne yet? I'm like, no, I'm waiting. I literally have tears in my eyes.
Sabrina
I don't want me to be here and to, like, be mic'd up in a chair and for us to go over Bigfoot footage. I know. Wouldn't that be fun?
Ryan Reynolds
That would be fun. Oh, my gosh. When she's a little bit older, we could have a expert. A Bigfoot expert.
Sabrina
A Bigfoot expert. A young Bigfoot enthusiast.
Ryan Reynolds
Isn't it so Cute.
Sabrina
And because she remembers everything, she's always gonna ask about Bigfoot. You got to get her some Bigfoot. I'm going to paraphernalia.
Ryan Reynolds
I'll get her a Bigfoot stuffy.
Sabrina
She was into aliens, ghosts, skeletons, not Bigfoot.
Ryan Reynolds
Like, she is such a creepy kid. Yeah, like even that creepy Bunny video where it was like, statue Halloween filter. And she's like, oh, bunny.
Sabrina
Sweet bunny.
Ryan Reynolds
I love her so much. But anyway, yeah, we have a new Bigfoot enthusiast in the family.
Sabrina
Good. There's not enough.
Ryan Reynolds
No, there are not.
Sabrina
There are never enough Bigfoot believers.
Ryan Reynolds
No, but we do have paranormal believers. Many of you among us. And many of you have had your own experiences, which is why we have Encounters episodes, because we cannot get enough of all of your stories.
Sabrina
And we've themed this one. We have seances, Ouija boards. Making contact with the other side and not hexing people.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay, I'm gonna go with little girls who make beds.
Sabrina
Hmm.
Ryan Reynolds
This is from Corey. Corrie says hello, Ghostesses and Leia. I'm Corrie. A Renew fan. Maybe a new or renewed. Renewed.
Sabrina
Like, we had Cori, Then we lost Cori, and now we.
Ryan Reynolds
And now you're back.
Sabrina
Now we have Cori again.
Ryan Reynolds
Because once you get sucked, you can never get out. Or they're new joining the pyramid scheme. You see, my co workers seem to have more complaining to do than work. Dark eyed kids, demons, and murder. Seems more positive than the moms of West Valley, Utah. So I pop my earbuds in and forget about them. Bloop. Gone. See, you don't need to hex people. Just put our podcast on and tune everyone out.
Sabrina
Bloop Garden.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay, so Corey said, I really want to be part of your conversation. And I have a story. This is the one for the skeptics who make fun of their partners. Names have been changed except for mine. And the dog. Never changed the dog's name. My dogs never do anything wrong. Then partner Jay and I bought our first home close to downtown Salt Lake city, Utah, about 20 years ago. Shit, I can't believe that was 20 years ago. And that lands me back in my mid-20s. Not grade school or baby status, but I digress. This was a 100 year old Victorian that had been updated but needed a little bit of work. It was called the Lake Street House. Jay and I had been together for two years, and I was in love, by the way. Two years is like six years and straight years. I love that we never fought. And we were very happy. Both of us had good jobs and we Were really ready for this next step. And it's important to note that we were happy and never fought. If you're reading this, remember it and remind yourself of it in paragraph 1007. I love how this is written anyway too.
Sabrina
Bloop. Gone.
Ryan Reynolds
We were living in a two bedroom apartment and my biological eight year old daughter stayed with us often. We may have adopted a mid sized dog too, which was against the rules.
Sabrina
Shh.
Ryan Reynolds
But it was time for us to move and quick. So we started moving. Mid December, Laps, the dog and I went to the house to figure out the decorating plan. And immediately I felt funny. There I had been left alone and I was in the upstairs love nest when suddenly Lapp stood up and started barking at the wall. I didn't even know he knew how to bark. Surprise. To me, this dog was shy and very timid. But it was in that moment that I knew we were not alone. Out the front door we went to wait for Jay and Laps kept pacing. But I'd rather stand in the cold than in that house.
Sabrina
Trust your pets though.
Ryan Reynolds
But it's too late. They already bought it. Yeah. Fast forward to exploring the house. The basement. It was an unfinished shelf basement. Half of it was a mound of dirt. And as I entered, I noticed the locks were on the outside of the door, as if to lock someone in. And on the way down, there was an upside down horseshoe. And one small light lit the entire area. I felt like this was the place that she lived. Trust my gut, girl. Please. I just signed up for years of debt with another man I met in a nightclub. Down the stairs I went with shovel in hand. And by the time I was done with the space, it would be gorgeous. I spent most of my day shoveling dirt. And I discovered cement under the scattered dirt. I moved the dirt onto the big mound. It was a lot. I brought Jay down to show him that I could wear dirt as well as I could wear body glitter. As we looked around, I noticed that there was something on top of the dirt. There was a tiny playing card with a cartoon picture of a girl on the back. This was perfectly clean. Placed on top of the dirt pile not far from it was a little girl's bracelet with a name spelled in beads. The bracelet was dirty. What the heck? My little hair stood up when I saw the items. They did not belong to my daughter. The card was placed there recently on top of the dirt. Jay rolled his eyes and I sat in the basement trying to feel who was there. It was a young girl. She wasn't mean, but she was curious. But I didn't feel like she was alone. I told Jay what I was feeling and I got more than an eye roll and I felt really bad and really dumb after that. But I stuck to my feelings. A few years went by and lots of strange activities like lights dimming or going out for no reason. And one day I was home alone. I was walking down the stairs and a dog toy hit me square in the back. Also, my daughter Ry announces that she would be living with us full time.
Sabrina
Yay.
Ryan Reynolds
She gets two dads, a dog, and a sister. A ghost sister.
Sabrina
Ghost sister. Ghost sister. Ghost sister.
Ryan Reynolds
Joe, Anna Faris of you.
Sabrina
That should be like a new Nickelodeon show. Ghost Sister.
Ryan Reynolds
We have so many ideas. It's stupid.
Sabrina
Bring back like Danny Phantom and all the good stuff. Stuff. Yes, please.
Ryan Reynolds
Also, we learned the hard way that when you remodel a house, it does seem to wake up. So Ry and the remodeling together stirred up a lot more spirits. I'll send another email for that stuff. But Ry is moving in and I take Jay aside and tell him not to tell Ry about the girl and the ghostly activities. If she even thought the house was haunted, we would never get to go anywhere. And Jay agreed. He wouldn't say anything, mostly because he didn't believe any of it and didn't miss an opportunity to remind me of how stupid the whole thing was. So here we are. Our family is doing great. And here it is, paragraph 1007. So remember what I said earlier. Noticeable changes start to happen. I start acting mean and aggressive, which is very uncharacteristic of me. Jay and I started fighting a lot. I would break stuff and yell, rai starts sleepwalking. She would stand at the edge of the couch staring at us. She made it down a floor and through the entire house. Fast asleep. There's nothing like watching tv. And there all of a sudden is your sleeping daughter drooling on the couch. I've never seen her do that. And trust me, the girl's weird. But this was weirder.
Sabrina
I want to be her. I love her. This seems like the most fun dad you could ever have. Wears dirt as well as he wears body glitter.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Sabrina
Love it.
Ryan Reynolds
The activity picked up when Ry went to visit her mom or when she wasn't home for a few days. I noticed, but J didn't, or at least didn't want to admit it. Our rooms were upstairs, and I felt like her room had activity during her absence. So, for example, I would shut her door to keep laps. The dog Out. And minutes later, I'd come back, and the door was wide open again. You know what happens in a haunted house. I won't bore you. But the second Rye got home, it would stop. Maybe not stop, but slow down. My favorite occurrence were the dirty small handprints on the wall in her room. None of us were a match.
Sabrina
Years went by, and the dirt pile. Dir. Dirt pile.
Ryan Reynolds
The dirt pile.
Sabrina
The dirt pile downstairs. Wait. This is making me wonder if she's. This is morbid. But, like, she buried under the cement in the basement. And so, like, the bracelet, the card, the dirty handprints, it's all supposed to be signs like, help me, save me, find me.
Ryan Reynolds
I. That's morbid, but I don't think that's wrong. Years went by, and now we have a beautiful young lady. In high school, Jay was coming around to believing the hauntings as he started to have really unexplainable experiences now, too. In around 2009, around the time Rup Hall Drag Race premiered. I love that. This is like the tent pole for reference, right? Yeah. But around that time, Jay and I called it quits. Ry and I would move out and hang in there because the punchline is coming. Ry was not surprised when we told her the news. Later, as a family in the kitchen, Ry opened up about a young girl that visited her and did funny stuff, but also kind of scares her.
Sabrina
Hmm.
Ryan Reynolds
She described exactly what I had described to Jay years ago. And there was more new details. Apparently, the girl would terrorize Ry when she was in the shower, but often would make her bed for her.
Sabrina
Wait, a helpful ghost and a little girl who likes doing chores?
Ryan Reynolds
Or, like, the little girl had to do chores, and so she's, like, worried that she's gonna get in trouble if she doesn't make her bed.
Sabrina
Sabrina, that's sad.
Ryan Reynolds
Apparently, Bry didn't want to get out of the shower because she always felt like someone was waiting for her. Which explains the long showers. If this were a boy, we wouldn't even ask why. So everything happened. Jay and I broke up and we moved and took Georgie the dog. Is this another dog?
Sabrina
What was the other dog's name?
Ryan Reynolds
Laps.
Sabrina
Oh, Laps. Now we have Georgie.
Ryan Reynolds
Well, it's been a couple of years, so maybe there's. They brought in another dog. Jay kept the Lake street house, and between renters, we had the opportunity to go back for a walk through. It was fun, and we spent time talking until Ry rushed us out. No surprise, this girl was watching us. We quickly walked out the back door. I Looked back and saw nothing. But Ry would not stop, would not look. She left as quickly as possible. Her old window overlooked the backyard. And apparently the girl stayed, watching us leave from that window. Later, in the safety of our new condo, Ry opened up about all of her experiences. There was a lot and I felt so bad that she went through it.
Sabrina
Oh no.
Ryan Reynolds
Apparently there was a picture. I'm sorry, it's gone now with the flip phone. But clear as day. Ghost Jay had a boyfriend there and they actually brought in a psychic. The boyfriend insisted and Jay listened to him. Turns out I was right, which feels redeeming. Most activity was in Ry's closet in the basement entrance area. There was a porthole mentioned. Jay and his boyfriend moved out after a light switch turned on on its own. I want to also add that I have had a few boyfriends since and I have never fought with him or broken anything away from Lake Street. I seem to be cool, level headed and peaceful. Oh, and we recently sold the Lake street house. I really hope the new owners want kids because they're getting them either way, I guess.
Sabrina
I wish you didn't sell it. Worried that you sold it to us.
Ryan Reynolds
This is so sweet. I know you record late at night sometimes, so please allow me to resolve this with some updates. Ry has grown up to be a beautiful, wonderful lady. She met a great guy and I had the privilege of walking her down the aisle where Jay was waiting as the officiant of the wedding ceremony.
Sabrina
Oh my God. How sweet.
Ryan Reynolds
Jay and I are friends, but have an understanding. There was an empty seat at the wedding that was actually occupied. The little girl I chose. Love the podcast and YouTube. You're both stunning. See you on the other side. I've included a picture of our furry family. Except for Penny the cat. She cannot be bothered with car rides. I thought I was gonna say that. She cannot be bothered with photos.
Sabrina
No photos. I will not sit for this.
Ryan Reynolds
The white one in the pic is Louis Lemon and the dumb redhead is Beanbag.
Sabrina
Corey. I love you, Cory. These references are so funny.
Ryan Reynolds
The little black and tan dorky is Abby. She's the newest member and lives at my house. The Lake street house had lapse Diablo and Georgie. They've now crossed the bridge. RIP from Corey.
Sabrina
Wow, it's so. It's interesting because Corey believed right away. And I feel bad that Corey's daughter didn't feel like she could express all the things that she was going through.
Ryan Reynolds
I know.
Sabrina
Especially because her dad was a believer. Her dad also was experiencing things. I wonder if it just Wasn't talked about openly enough where, like, she felt like she could bring it up. Or maybe she was just scared it was gonna exacerbate things.
Ryan Reynolds
It also sounds like Corey and Jay both agree, like, let's not tell Ry anything because we don't want to scare her. And, like, maybe, like, when you tell a child about ghosts, like, haunting a place, it might activate it more and, like, make them. Yeah, scared. But I'm so curious what the psychic said. Yeah, I'm so, like, it feels unresolved.
Sabrina
And it is weird because it was like, I don't know. At first I was like, there's just a little girl who is a little girl here and she just wants attention and she's around. But then Ry feeling like someone's watching her and waiting for her out of the shower. Jay and Corey starting to feel like they're bickering. And Cory feeling, like, way less level headed, like, just the energy shift. It doesn't mean that the little girl's causing this, but, like, you're right. Like, there's something else.
Ryan Reynolds
Well, Cory even said that when they sat in the basement, like, after finding the card and the bracelet, which I'm also curious what name was on the bracelet, because it said a little girl's name that Corey was aware of. Not just the little girl's presence, but something else as well. So I agree that there's for sure something dark, which I feel like the little girl is scared of.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
And maybe what Ry was scared of in the basement.
Sabrina
I know. The dirt, print, hands, handprints, Lake Street House.
Ryan Reynolds
Are you accepting visitors? And visitors as in Sabrina and Corinne.
Sabrina
Right. I wish we could buy these places and just, like, have them. We've always talked about, like, haunted Airbnbs where, like, we can go and investigate, we can go and work, but then we can also open it up to our listeners every once in a while who want to go stay too. And like, this is technically such a great one.
Ryan Reynolds
I do have a haunted Airbnb.
Sabrina
Technically. You do? Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
In Marblehead. If anyone wants to say at it. So far, no ghosts have been seen by the two people who have stayed. There are the two families.
Sabrina

Oh my gosh. I haven't even told you about my haunted doll. Oh yeah, that's my other update. But I told you I have so much to tell you. Which is crazy because I've been like bedrotting so much because I'm in a functional freeze. So like how has so much happened to me? I don't know, but if you're a Patreon member, I purchased a haunted doll and if you follow us on Instagram you have seen me post a little story about my haunted Doll, Alara. Her name is Elara. So far, nothing's really happened, really. I had, like, one introductory because when I brought her into the home, I had, like, a very, like, I had a sit down and I welcomed her in and we, like, got to know each other, or I tried to, like, welcome her. And I used ghost tube and talked to her a bit. But, like, it seemed like she was shy or like. And I get that if you're coming into a new place. So I was like, get accustomed. Do what you want. This is your house.
Sabrina
But there are rules.
Ryan Reynolds
But experience it, love it, have it.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
And then she's said to communicate through dreams, but she's yet to come to me in my dreams.
Sabrina
It does feel like a perfect match, though, because you experience so much in your dreams.
Ryan Reynolds
Right.
Sabrina
So maybe she's staying used to everything.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Sabrina
Because it is kind of a scary thing to just be, like, suddenly shipped off and, like, delivered to a new land, a new house. There's a person you've never seen before, a creature you've never seen before.
Ryan Reynolds
Right. And Leia's been totally chill. Like, Leia has not reacted in any way. The coolest thing and I told everyone on Campfire Stories is that. So I use Daniel who Daniel is a trickster spirit attached to my pendulum. So when I say I use Daniel, I mean I use my pendulum. And when I was asking questions, because I always communicate to Daniel only using the pendulum, so I don't have, like, other spirits come through. But when I was asking questions, if I was asking Daniel questions, the way my pendulum works, Daniel works is he'll go back and forth for yes and go still for no. When I was asking Daniel questions, Daniel would move left to right. But when I would ask Daniel questions about Alara, it would go back and front.
Sabrina
Which doesn't happen with Daniel.
Ryan Reynolds
No. And so.
Sabrina
But it was always him. Or was it Elara?
Ryan Reynolds
But I think it was Daniel answering for Elara, trying to distinguish the difference between his answers and his answering for Elara.
Sabrina
Oh, interesting.
Ryan Reynolds
Isn't that cool?
Sabrina
I hope they get along. What if they fall?
Ryan Reynolds
They're sitting next to each other.
Sabrina
What if there's a romance?
Ryan Reynolds
I think Daniel's in love with me, so.
Sabrina
Oh.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay.
Sabrina
Well, maybe there could be a love triangle.
Ryan Reynolds
We could. We could have a triangle.
Sabrina
Okay. I have some stories picked out, and this one's called College Possession and a Flying Trash Can. Oh, my.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay.
Sabrina
Hello, lovely ladies. No, lovely ghosty ladies.
Ryan Reynolds
I like that.
Sabrina
I've written an intro sentence to this email eight times. But nothing feels right. So I'm just gonna hop right into my story instead of overthinking this. Here we go.
Ryan Reynolds
I'm glad that you still sent it and didn't, like, spend all of eternity on the intro and then never sent it.
Sabrina
That was your intro sentence, and it was perfect.
Ryan Reynolds
It was great.
Sabrina
I went to college at SUNY Purchase, a quaint little state school often ranked one of the top ugliest campuses in the country outside of New York City, hidden in the woods of Westchester County.
Ryan Reynolds
Hilarious.
Sabrina
I didn't know there were rankings for ugly.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, man.
Sabrina
Wait, can we just really quickly pivot and just see some of the ugliest? Ugliest? We should college campus us. I want to just see what the number one ugliest is.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay. It's an Ava Maria University SUNY Purchase is number five or number four.
Sabrina
Hmm.
Ryan Reynolds
What makes it ugly? Is it just, like, concrete buildings?
Sabrina
I'm looking at these and I agree based on photos that these places are.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay, but Eva Maria University just looks like that church looks like a spaceship.
Sabrina
Now I'm watching reels. Okay, I gotta get back on track.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay. But this says, it's comical how obtrusive this campus looks with European flavored buildings surrounding a church. That makes no sense.
Sabrina
Well, if it's still prettier than City hall in Boston, you're winning that building. How many years have I brought up how much I hate that building? So many.
Ryan Reynolds
No, it's pretty ugly. It does look like it's out of the Last of Us. Like a.
Sabrina
It's.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah, it's gross, apocalyptic, trashy building.
Sabrina
It's yucky. Okay. Ew. Ew. Oh, ew. When I attended, there were a ton of practicing and aspiring witches in the school. So cool.
Ryan Reynolds
It might have been eerie on the outside, but it was beautiful on the inside.
Sabrina
Oh, yeah. I mean, if it's attracting that type of group, like, this is good vibes. I was in their theater program, which afforded me an opportunity to be surrounded by many of these types of people and foster my own gifts.
Ryan Reynolds
Hell, yeah.
Sabrina
Two of my closest friends lived in an apartment on the part of campus called the Old It's O L D E, which I like. Old spelling of old. Old. These were some of the oldest buildings on the campus and were generally in horrible shape, but they were the cheapest apartments, so obviously us starving artists flocked to them. Of course, when I became friends with these two people, they explained to me that they believed their apartment was haunted. They had a few anecdotes to support it, but the biggest piece of evidence was a video one of them had taken. They were recording a video audition at their desk, and the door to the bedroom was closed behind them. And while this guy was doing his monologue, the door flew open halfway, stopped abruptly, and then began to close itself again, as if someone had just walked into the room, realized they were interrupting something, and then slowly backed away. I was definitely a little spooked, but it didn't stop me from spending almost all of my free time at their place to escape my dorm. One day I arrived after class to an unlocked, empty apartment. And this was very common since we would lock the bedroom doors. So I let myself in. I plopped on their couch to do some homework. And further ahead of me and to my right, there was a small hallway that led to the kitchen. But I couldn't see into the space from where I was sat. While I was looking down, I heard something coming directly from the kitchen, so I looked up. I called out, thinking that I'd missed someone when entering, but there was no reply. I looked back down, and a few minutes later, I heard something again. I looked up and tentatively asked if someone was in the kitchen, trying to scare me. And all of a sudden, their trash can shot out of the kitchen, flung across the room directly in front of me and slammed into the wall, spilling all of its contents everywhere.
Ryan Reynolds
That's a bit rude.
Sabrina
At this, I sprinted outside. I waited on the steps like a sweet little child, waiting for my grown up friends to come home and protect me. And when they arrived, they weren't fully surprised about what happened. And we just essentially continued with life as usual. Over the years, I continued to hear and see things in this apartment. But do you think that this stopped me from moving in my junior year when a single bedroom opened up? Nope. Absolutely not. When you're a horny college girl, a single is pure fucking gold.
Ryan Reynolds
Dead. Wow.
Sabrina
As soon as I started living there, things got worse. Unless I was in the bedroom, I felt very uncomfortable, like someone was always watching me. I would be looking in my bathroom mirror and suddenly I would see a black figure behind me.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh.
Sabrina
When I turned, they would be gone. I think the worst was the mimicking. My roommate's name for me was Kate Kate. And she had a very specific way about how she would say it. It felt very cozy and sweet. Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate. When I started living there, I would hear her say it. Then I would go to her room to ask what she wanted, and she would say that she hadn't called out for me. I thought she was messing with me until it started happening. When I was there alone, I'd be sitting in my room or in our living room, and I'd hear her sweet voice. Kate? Kate. Kate. Kate, where are you?
Ryan Reynolds
It does seem like the ghost just wants to be your friend throwing a.
Sabrina
Trash can at you.
Ryan Reynolds
Well, maybe it was an excited burst of energy because, like, it's like, oh, you hear me?
Sabrina
Yeah. Over that semester, the energy in the apartment got worse and worse.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, okay. Just kidding. Sorry. Never mind.
Sabrina
Everyone who lived there was at each other's throats. It got to the point where no one wanted to be around me. And at this time, I also was in a relationship that was incredibly manipulative and emotionally abusive. And I now believe whatever was in the apartment was feeding off of me. One evening, we decided that we just could not take it anymore. We wanted to try to communicate with this entity directly.
Ryan Reynolds
Dun, dun, dun.
Sabrina
Despite our horrid semester, we had all signed on to live together in the same apartment next year and knew that we could not keep going as things were. My three roommates, myself and my boyfriend at the time. Yes, the horrid one. We all gathered in our living room. We lit candles. We created a sacred circle and attempted to communicate with the entity.
Ryan Reynolds
Seance.
Sabrina
Immediately, I began to not feel well. It felt as if something had climbed up onto my shoulders and crouched there, thrusting all of its weight onto my back and bending me. I began to curl in on myself. And as this was happening, my roommates were taking my hands and asking the entity to stop, to leave us alone. It got to the point that sitting cross legged, I was so curled in on myself, my upper body resembled a sea. Kind of like a little pill bug would look all rolled up. I couldn't really comprehend what was going on around me. All I knew was this immense pressure that felt like it was going to push my head into the floor. After what felt like hours, which was probably only 20 or 30 minutes, I felt the pressure ease and then vanish altogether. The room felt lighter. My head felt clearer. We could all sense that there had been a shift as my roommate began to move and inspect the space. My body then began having this really aggressive reaction to what I just experienced. I was incredibly lightheaded. I was nauseous. I couldn't stand. My legs felt entirely numb. My boyfriend ended up carrying me to my room. I had to take a few days off from school to recover. And after this experience, my relationship with my roommate began to improve. And while we experienced some minor things, our apartment was never as active as it was before, unsurprisingly, I was pretty scared from this experience. And even though it was 10 years ago, I have stayed generally paranormally closed off since then. Though now I do live in a house where a sweet old man died, and I think he's trying to communicate with me. So maybe it's time to commune with the spirits once more. Oh, and then they wrote that they are now married to a guy who grew up in Gloucester, which is, like, right near where Sabrina and I live. And she said, if you haven't been to Flying Saucer Pizza in Salem, you need to go.
Ryan Reynolds
I have tried to go. It's always packed, and they don't do any delivery in September and October because of how busy it gets.
Sabrina
It's right next to Gulagula, which is also great. It's. If you're going to Salem and visiting there is one of the, like, attractions is, like, the Bewitched statue. Bewitched statue. And it's right in that, like, little plaza.
Ryan Reynolds
Plaza.
Sabrina
Okay. This is from Caitlyn.
Ryan Reynolds
Well, Kate. Kate. Girly Pop. I'm, like, very glad that after that seance and communication with the spirit, things settled down. But I feel like there was such a. It almost felt like. I can't believe that's how it ended, you know, like, it was. It wasn't like there was a resolution to the seance. It was just like, poor Kate. Kate was, like, attacked and convulsing basically due to the spirit. And the spirit.
Sabrina
What?
Ryan Reynolds
Like, just, like, was like, that's all I wanted, and I got my fix. Now I get to move on.
Sabrina
I also wonder what Caitlyn's roommate and boyfriend of the time had experienced, because Kate said that she was, like, curled in. Into this sort of, like, C position and felt the heaviness and all this, and it's, like, taking a bunch of time. But, like, what was everyone else experiencing?
Ryan Reynolds
Or were they all terrified because they saw how Seed's, like, physical body was being.
Sabrina
I think of Stranger Things and how, like, season two or whatever, how, like, Billy is, like, possessed, essentially. And it makes me, like, I'm visualizing something kind of, like, slithering in and having ties into Caitlyn, and that's why she had to take a few days off of work because it was, like, ripped out. And it's her. Her body, like, puking it back out, regurgitating it all. And it takes some time to, like, get all the little bits of illness and sickness out of you.
Ryan Reynolds
Well, that reminds me of Grady Hendrik's Other book, my Best Friend Exorcism, which I read with Ash and Elena for, like, their morbid book club. Yeah, it is very similar. Like the possession, like, needed to be vomited out, basically. All right, well, on to the next story, shall we? This is from Morgan, and it is called Our Ghost Hates. My husband and I fucked up as a kid playing with a Ouija board. Oh. I feel like the other theme of this episode is like, partners who suck or like.
Sabrina
Or just like, don't believe or don't.
Ryan Reynolds
Believe or are getting attacked by ghosts.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
Hey, Ghoulies, my name is Morgan. Please use my real name. I'm 23. I have been obsessed with the paranormal for as long as I can remember. They might be 25 now because this was sent in 2023. I was always the friend that wanted to watch horror movies and play scary games growing up. I'd literally be a paranormal investigator if I could. You can be.
Sabrina
Yeah, yeah, I know what they mean.
Ryan Reynolds
Like, I wish to be funded.
Sabrina
Like, yeah, okay.
Ryan Reynolds
Morgan said, I have done my fair share of attempting to contact spirits and I even went and visited St Ignatius Hospital to do an investigation about a year and a half ago. And even though I've made myself quite vulnerable to the other side, I don't have too many experiences to share. The ones I do have, though, might be a little refreshing to check out between the terrifying stories sent in by other listeners. Although I feel like some of these are going to be terrifying, so I'm not totally sure that any of these are really podcast worthy. They are, absolutely. But feel free to pick and choose. I'll start off by talking about the ghost that has been hanging out around my current apartment, who seems to hate my husband. I personally have only seen this thing once. It was early in the morning, around 6am and I woke up before my alarm. I was making breakfast for my daughter, who I'll call Elle before I took her to school. I was standing by the kitchen sink when out of the corner of my eye, I saw a figure walk through my living room, down the hall towards our bedrooms. It was pretty blurry, and considering I was still pretty tired, I had most of the lights off. But from what I did see, it looked like a woman in a white flowy dress. Nothing happened after that and it was the only time I've ever seen it. Whatever or whoever this is, it is not a big fan of my husband because he has seen it multiple times, actually pretty frequently. And there are many mornings where I'll wake up and he'll say he saw a figure in the middle of the night one evening. We were in our bedroom. I think we were getting ready to leave the house. But he had walked out of the bedroom. And I was about to follow him out, but before I had gotten out of the room, he yelled something like, what the fuck? And when I came out, he told me that the half bottle of pure leaf tea that was sitting on the coffee table was literally thrown at him. I emphasized that it was half full because I guess I could come up with the sort of reasoning for it flying off the table if it were empty. But no, it had enough liquid in it for not to just fly off the table randomly.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
And that was the first experience he had there.
Sabrina
My first thought, whenever there's an object on a counter flying, I'm a ghost cat.
Ryan Reynolds
Yes. But this feels like it's lob. Like, lobbed at him.
Sabrina
Okay.
Ryan Reynolds
Not knocked off.
Sabrina
So something aggressive. Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
Or thirsty.
Sabrina
I don't know.
Ryan Reynolds
Another time. Early in the morning, we had just woken up, and he had to run to go to the store to get something, but to backtrack for a second before I get to the second counter. When I moved into this apartment, it was just my daughter and I, and the previous tenant had installed a baby lock on the front door. My daughter is 6 now, and she cannot set the lock by herself. And she still cannot open the door if the baby lock is up. But okay, back to that morning. He got up, he left to go to the store. I was still in bed, and my daughter was in her room watching tv. Neither of us had left our rooms yet. A couple of minutes go by, and I hear a knock at the door. I got up to check it, looked out at the peephole and saw my husband. And it was then that I noticed that the baby lock was up. I'll say it again. My daughter and I had not left our rooms.
Sabrina
And.
Ryan Reynolds
And you can only set the baby lock if you're inside the house. So it was very clear that this thing did not want my husband inside with us.
Sabrina
Wow. He's super targeted. I wonder why.
Ryan Reynolds
I feel like this woman or this spirit must have, like, some trauma when it comes to men. Like, I think about dogs. Like, I remember when my family got Ruby, my mom's dog or my family dog. She was a scared dog in general, but she was petrified of men because she clearly had been abused in some way. And even now she'll, like, bark at men.
Sabrina
Trust your pets. Trust your pets.
Ryan Reynolds
Now, I have two other notable experiences that have taken place in this apartment that I'll keep short. One of them was. It was the middle of the night. All of us were asleep. My daughter was on the couch and my husband and I were in our room. We have a hall closet that's in direct view from our bedroom, which was open because Elle was sleeping on the couch. All of a sudden, both my husband and I woke up at the exact same time. I don't remember why, but maybe we heard a noise. Anyway, we both turn our heads towards the hall closet and suddenly it is pulled open. And I don't mean slowly opened. It was as if someone grabbed the handle, pulled the door very quickly, and then opened it and stopped. We were scared shitless. Also the fact that they both woke up at the same time. Last one, my younger brother was staying the night with us and he was out on the couch and the rest of us had gone to bed. He was just lying down when the coffee table aggressively started shaking on its own. We live in central Oregon and we don't get earthquakes here. None of us have an explanation. But the best part is he got it on video. And I'll include it at the end.
Sabrina
No way. And they did. They remembered. Yeah. Okay. Because sometimes people forget.
Ryan Reynolds
Often people.
Sabrina
Oftentimes people forget to include their attacks here.
Ryan Reynolds
We can. Since we're talking about it right now, let's. And like, nothing else is shaking.
Sabrina
No. Holy shit. See that? The way that it's shaking is exactly how the beds in my family's house would shake.
Ryan Reynolds
Would shake.
Sabrina
Which, you know, what's interesting is that happened again when I was home for the fourth of July to you. And it only happens at my parents house. I like don't experience it really anywhere else. So weird. Maybe I have like once or twice. But like primarily just there. I don't know what ghost is into doing that.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah, the one that wants bikinis little.
Sabrina
But like, it's like that. It's not like a big rock. It's like the.
Ryan Reynolds
Like a vibration. It's like an earthquake.
Sabrina
It feels like that.
Ryan Reynolds
But nothing else is moving around you. Nothing else. Literally. Just.
Sabrina
That's so weird. One structure. I don't get it.
Ryan Reynolds
It's because monsters live under the bed, obviously. Also frequently, our daughter came into our room at night and just stood at the end of our bed waiting for us to wake up. We recently had another baby who I'll call f. Whose toys have started to go off by themselves. Okay. But now I have one more story that I want to share that takes place in my Childhood home. I had two friends over. We were all probably 14 or 15, and I'll call them A and M. We decided we wanted to do a Ouija board. And now I'm not someone who's against them, and I even have one here in the closet at my apartment now that I'll bust out from time to time. But anyway, at the time, we didn't have an actual Ouija board, so we decided we would make one. Got a couple pieces of cardboard, which I think came from pizza boxes. We lined them up, wrote all of the letters, and gathered some candles. We only had tea lights, so I stole some of my mom's candle jars from the living room, filled them with the tea lights, surrounded the board with them, and then we started. And to our disappointment, probably because we were using a makeshift board, nothing came through, or so we thought. Nothing spoke to us through the board. But what did happen was even scarier. We were kind of over it because nothing was coming through the board. And we were just sitting on the ground talking, when all of a sudden, one of the jars with the tea lights in it shattered. And I know that fire can cause glass to break, but.
Sabrina
Yeah, but a tea light does not emit enough heat to shatter glass.
Ryan Reynolds
And these are literal jars that came out of a candle holder. They had candles lit in them all the time, and that had never happened before. At that point, we decided to end our session. I cleaned up the glass, and we went on with our night. But from that night on, for months, weird shit would happen to me and Em. We'd wake up at the same time every night in our own independent houses. We would both hear things.
Sabrina
And then.
Ryan Reynolds
There's one thing that happened that scared me the most. It was when I was home alone. Our back door had one of those doorknobs that was always unlocked on the inside. So even if it were locked, you could still open it from inside the house. But it was locked on the outside. We didn't use it often, so it always just stayed locked. One day, I was alone at the house in my room, probably talking to strangers on the Internet, as he did, when all of a sudden, I heard the back door creak open. And then, bang. It slammed shut. I was the only one home, and the back door was on the other.
Sabrina
Side of the house.
Ryan Reynolds
It took me a while because I was terrified, but I finally got up to go check it out. The door was locked, so there was no way that someone had opened it from the outside. Whatever opened it was inside the house with me.
Sabrina
Oh, so spooky. The call is coming from inside the house. Although I. I almost would rather I go speak in the house than outside. It feels like their ability to just, like, walk across lands and come knocking to your house feels way more targeted than just someone that exists in your space.
Ryan Reynolds
Right.
Sabrina
That you're, like, moving around, but it's, like, so.
Ryan Reynolds
It's so intentional and wants your attention.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
After a while, the experiences kind of stopped and I forgot about it. But I do have more stories, including some experiences I had while working at a haunted beauty supply store. Yes, please, we want to hear it. Here's a video of the coffee table, and thanks for reading. You said leave our phone numbers. I don't have any reason to because I don't have any stories that need updates, But I'll leave it in case you want to be friends with a stranger from the Internet. From Morgan.
Sabrina
Dang. I mean, that's a lot of activity.
Ryan Reynolds
The fact that Morgan and Em would wake up at the exact same time at night in their independent homes and hear noises.
Sabrina
They're tethered somehow.
Ryan Reynolds
The Ouija board demon.
Sabrina
Yeah, I guess so. Ugh. It's just confusing because it's like, there's a lot of activity, and there's a lot of, like, trying to grab her attention or trying to just be with her. But then it's like, again, like you said with the last two stories, where it's like, what's the end result? Like, what do we. What do we get from it? And that's. We still don't entirely have answers.
Ryan Reynolds
We have no answers.
Sabrina
Which I guess is. That's just how things are.
Ryan Reynolds
That's the paranormal. That's also just life, you know?
Sabrina
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
You know, I guess, like, when you hear of Ouija board stories, generally, that's not the worst encounter.
Sabrina
No. But it still means that something has escaped the Ouija board. Like, outside of you closing and doing everything, you know, like, to have that experience is a little bit scary. Cause it's like, what has been unleashed.
Ryan Reynolds
Or positive spin, which is a plot twist coming from me. There already was a spirit or some guardian or something in Morgan's home who was like, how about we stop doing this because we don't know what you're gonna open up. Cause nothing happened on the board.
Sabrina
Right, Right.
Ryan Reynolds
And then the candle broke or the glass jar broke, which made them stop using the board. And, like, yes, Morgan and Em started having these, like, weird occurrences, but maybe it would have been 10 times worse had they continued to use the board.
Sabrina
That's True.
Ryan Reynolds
I don't know.
Sabrina
I don't know. My mind just like totally went into the movie Talk to Me, which I think is one of the best horror movies I know. It's so good in existence. Yeah. WhatsApp message privately with everyone, I have a story that's also kind of an update. So we had read on encounters71.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh my God.
Sabrina
So October 23rd, 2019 moons ago, we had read a story from Sarah about their family who lived in upstate New York and lived in this like Dutch colonial style home and experienced a ton of haunting. So it was all about just like the different stuff. Their father was having a lot of outbursts of anger. There was some like abusive behavior and they were just like really scared and there was a ton of activity.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay, and we have an update.
Sabrina
Yeah, and they had deemed it the House of Unfortunate Events. Oh. So there was an update sent a year later, which somehow we missed because we always ask for updates. But this was sent in 2020. So long overdue for us to read this. Hello girls. I wanted to respond back to you with an update on my scary AF house. It's been a while since I wrote to you and recently I started having dreams about my old house again. I stated calling you back.
Ryan Reynolds
It's literally haunting a vill house.
Sabrina
Scary. Okay, in my last email I had told you that my dreams are recurring and sometimes they're good dreams, sometimes they're terrifying. But once again, I feel compelled to go back to this house and this time not alone. So I brought my best friend Katie, who's also a huge fan of the podcast and true believer of the spiritual world. We decided to go to the house earlier today, which is August 2, 2020, equipped with ghost hunting communication tools. So an app, rosary beads, and my two little fur babies, Leo and Bernie.
Ryan Reynolds
This is a good crew.
Sabrina
This is a good crew.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Sabrina
When we got to the bottom of the hill that the house is on, I pulled over to the side of the road because I wanted to turn on the Encounters Episode number 71, where you guys read my initial email because I wanted to add the spooky vibes to the car ride.
Ryan Reynolds
Also, does anyone live there right now?
Sabrina
Probably. I don't know.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay.
Sabrina
Initially, the episode refused to play in my car. I tried about four times.
Ryan Reynolds
Great.
Sabrina
While I was pulled over on the side of the road, I happened to glance back in my rear view mirror at the perfect time to see a black cat crossing the road behind us. And keep in mind that this road is very remote.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay.
Sabrina
We proceeded up the hill to the house to find that the house is currently being lived in for the first time in a while. On the side of the house is a gravel, not heavily traveled road and path that leads deep into the woods behind the house.
Ryan Reynolds
I love it. Sarah's just trespassing.
Sabrina
I know. This gravel path leads deep into the woods behind the house. And the path was one that I used to go on for walks frequently as a child. This was the path that ultimately led my father to the graves that are on the property. And this is not a privately owned road. Well, my friend Katie and I decided to drive down the path today. As soon as we got on the road, my dog Bernie instantly started whining, moving all over the place, Acting very uneasy, very upset. We continued to drive until we decided that it was best to turn around and avoid getting trapped or stuck somewhere that we shouldn't be. On our way out, we were met with a black cat standing in the middle of the path in front of us. And as we slowly approached this black cat, it leaped into the tall grass on the side of the path and seemingly vanished. So at this point, we decided we should head over. Follow it, follow, run.
Ryan Reynolds
If a cat is appearing to you, you follow.
Sabrina
It's also. It feels like a warning too. At this point, we decided to head over to the other side of town to get to the other end of the path so that we could enter that way to see if it was any more or any less active and scary. And as an attempt to locate the gravestones that we know are on the property somewhere. And this time, shit got real, we made sure that our app was turned on to see if we were able to communicate with Whatever resides within the forest. We drove about two minutes into the path and the path got too rocky for us to continue driving, so we stopped the car. At that moment, my car turned off on its own. The app started to communicate with us and the first word that we received from the other side was the word hell.
Ryan Reynolds
Maybe it was trying to say hello, maybe and it's dyslexic or just forgot.
Sabrina
The o. I instantly panicked. My friend grabbed a hold of me and then grabbed her rosary beads. And since the path is straight and narrow, I had no choice but to back all the way up to the entrance because I could not turn anywhere around. So while I'm backing up my car, we turned around several times because it seemed as though the road just kept getting longer and longer. And the road that only took us 2 minutes to drive in is now taking us 10, 10 minutes to back out of. And it's safe to say that we are absolutely terrified. We also received the words on the app while we were backing out of the path that included, I can hear you out. Ask us. It's weird because they've already been to the other side of the path in the house and nothing was coming through. But they're near the graves. They're near the.
Ryan Reynolds
There's more spirits there. I'm like scared for you, Sarah, but I'm also like, but you did this yourself. But the house did call you back. So, like, is there even free will here?
Sabrina
And is it the black cat? Is it Thackeray Banks calling you back? So then we decided we should go grab lunch and have a picnic, chat about what we had just experienced. After lunch, we decided to go back one more time. And this time we decided we're not going to drive down the path because we were way too scared. Rather, we decided to just park at the entrance of the path next to the house and use the app to see if we got any more responses the to to our questions. At first, nothing happened. We felt nothing. And then the air got thicker and we started feeling a little more anxious. And the app said, answer them. And we said, who are we supposed to answer to? And out of absolutely nowhere, a vintage style truck emerged right in front of our eyes from down the path, coming directly at us. I backed up, sped out like a bat out of hell, and the app said, behind and it is here. And then the truck vanished. On our way home, we set intentions. We announced that we are protected, that anything that may come along with us is not welcome in our space or in our home. And the App then said finished and had no more responses after that.
Ryan Reynolds
Why does that car remind me of Satan's sedan?
Sabrina
It does. What the heck? I have never been so scared in my life or experienced full body chills since the day that this happened. Katie and I are officially shook. Also, to answer your question from before when you read my original story, I have watched Haunting of Hill House and it really did hit home because of all the similarities that my family and that house had and how it keeps calling me back there for some reason. I feel like the reason is something that I will never really know, but would like to learn more about what happened on that property. So maybe some type of closure can be found for either me or for the spirits who are trapped there. Xoxo Sarah, Katie, Leo and Bernie.
Ryan Reynolds
Well, I feel like we have to be able to find out history of this house, especially if there's, like, graves, like.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
Are there not records of who owned this home prior?
Sabrina
I love when people in their emails have, like, photos of them.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Sabrina
Like, not just like, as attachments, but, you know, like when someone sends you an email, like on Gmail or whatever, you can create like a profile picture. I just, like, see seeing who sends those emails. We'll keep your you private, but here's Sarah.
Ryan Reynolds
Hi, Sarah.
Sabrina
Sarah, you look like you could go on a ghost hunt with us.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah. I feel like everyone who listens to this podcast is good to go on a ghost hunt with us. Yeah, you've passed the.
Sabrina
You passed our test.
Ryan Reynolds
You listen so you can come.
Sabrina
You're. You're the standards, so are really low.
Ryan Reynolds
Actually, I've been getting, like, even more excited about this, and I know we've thrown it out kind of as a. Oh, offhanded thing that we'll do, but I want so badly next summer to do a spooky summer camp for, like, a week in the woods. We are the camp counselors. How much fun would it be?
Sabrina
I need a whistle.
Ryan Reynolds
That's my only requirement.
Sabrina
I want a whistle and a clipboard.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah, we can get both of those things for you. Yeah.
Sabrina
And I'm never going to write anything on the clipboard. It's just.
Ryan Reynolds
No, you just need to have it. Yeah, but you refer to it all the time as if there's a lot written on.
Sabrina
There's my script.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Sabrina
It's a good way to avoid making eye contact in socially anxious situations, which.
Ryan Reynolds
You always need something.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay. I have a story for us to end on, and it is called A Ghost Went Through My Boyfriend.
Sabrina
Were you jealous?
Ryan Reynolds
Well, it happened close to St. Augustine.
Sabrina
So maybe I'm jealous.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah, maybe you are. But okay. This is from our listener, McKenna. Hi, ladies. Love the pod. So my boyfriend and I live in Jacksonville, Florida, which is about 40 minutes from St. Augustine. St. Augustine is the oldest city in America and is very haunted. Especially the lighthouse. Shout out, Andrew. Andrew. I don't know why I said it.
Sabrina
Like, which is a reference to Andrew Ranson, the pirate. In case someone's coming in who hasn't listened to, I don't know, episode four of Dear Girls.
Ryan Reynolds
Right, Right. You know, a lot has changed over the years. We're not the same ghouls we once were.
Sabrina
No, but we will reference and refer to Andrew Ranson, the ghost pirate of St. Augustine, often. At least four times a year.
Ryan Reynolds
I feel like our biggest references are episode 12, Dominus Andrew Ranson, the story of the person feeling the ceiling. What else?
Sabrina
Who is our spirit haunting the podcast, whose name is not Sven, but a listener deemed it as Sven, and then that spirit said that they were chill with that.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah, exactly. All right, so the Lighthouse offers ghost tours every weekend. Normally you sit in a group of 50 people and you get the cheesy stories, but however, once every few months they offer a self guided ghost investigation with only 25 slots. So of course we signed up. Let me add, I've always been into the paranormal, but I've never had a true encounter myself. My boyfriend believes in the paranormal to an extent, but truthfully said we could do this because he knew that I wanted to.
Sabrina
Wait, where were they? In St. Augustine.
Ryan Reynolds
The lighthouse.
Sabrina
Oh, the lighthouse.
Ryan Reynolds
Andrew's home.
Sabrina
Sorry, I got distracted thinking about those gluten free rolls we had at that one restaurant.
Ryan Reynolds
Oh, those were really good.
Sabrina
They're so good. It was biscuit. It was a biscuit.
Ryan Reynolds
Well, let me tell you, after this, my boyfriend is quite the believer. Now, when we got there, we met two guys who had all their own high tech equipment and had been ghost hunting for years. They gave us some tips, told us about an app we could download on our phone that was like $5 and supposed to work like a spirit box. So my boyfriend and I end up going down some paths that lead into the woods because there's more than just the lighthouse to investigate. And I'll attach a photo of the entire grounds. It's like a map. We get down this path, we're using the spirit box app, when all of a sudden it says, be fearful. So I immediately say, yes, ghost, I hear you. And I run the other way. It then says, Ha ha. And in that exact moment, my boyfriend's body gets covered with chills. Keep in mind, it is June in Florida, so it is extremely hot and extremely humid. I felt nothing. Anyway, we had a couple other encounters throughout this night, but that was insane. And he believes that a spirit went through him in that exact moment. Thank you, ladies, for entertaining me. Hopefully, I will experience something like that in the future. P.S. i just bought some dowsing rods. I'm also attaching a picture I took of my boyfriend's arm when he got the chills from the ghost we assumed walked through him or touched him.
Sabrina
Those are some really intense chilly willies.
Ryan Reynolds
Chilly willies.
Sabrina
Okay, well, I totally believe that because it seems like it was, like, a fun joke for the ghost. Ha ha.
Ryan Reynolds
Yes.
Sabrina
Just, like, sprinting through. Ha ha.
Ryan Reynolds
Got you, Tag. You're it.
Sabrina
Right?
Ryan Reynolds
You didn't run fast enough.
Sabrina
No.
Ryan Reynolds
Honestly, how fast do you have to.
Sabrina
Run to outrun a ghost?
Ryan Reynolds
It's so funny. Speaking of, like, how we've changed over the years, I remember early days of our podcast. I was like, yeah, like, I always want to be able to run, like, five miles, just, like, to have a leg up on my competition. Like, I know, like, I can run. I can outrun for at least five miles. Like, that's a good amount of distance to run if, like, something's coming after you. I think I could run, like, one right now.
Sabrina
No, you would run more, but you wouldn't have to, because if you were with me, I'd be a lot slower. They'd catch me first.
Ryan Reynolds
No, if we were together, I would not leave you behind. I would attack.
Sabrina
Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
I actually think about this a lot. So there's a park near my sister's place that, like, it's a little bit seedy, where, like, I was there with noe at, like, 10am and there was a really, really creepy guy who was drinking beer walking through the park at, like, 10am and he stopped and stared at us. And I truly was, like, immediately ran through, like, all the things that I would do and, like, the weirdest shit I could do to try to, like, freak him out. And I think my instinct, while. Yes. It is to run, I think if, like, I got caught, I would just, like, be the weirdest fucking.
Sabrina
Like. Yeah.
Ryan Reynolds
Make my body all angly and, like.
Sabrina
Right.
Ryan Reynolds
Start making weird noises.
Sabrina
Well, I think people also think about fighting as, like, a normal, like, punch or hit or kick. Like, scoop eyeballs out.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Sabrina
Bite their ears off. Like, take chunk out of their lip.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Sabrina
Do it. Like, do the things that make you think that you're gonna faint and vomit.
Ryan Reynolds
Right.
Sabrina
And, like, fight.
Ryan Reynolds
Scrappy.
Sabrina
Mutilate them. Right, Sorry. But try your hardest to, like, do the thing that they're not expecting.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah, that's a good way to end this episode.
Sabrina
Don't hex mutilate.
Ryan Reynolds
If it's deserved.
Sabrina
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, protect yourself and protect the young.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah, protect the young. Especially if they love Bigfoot.
Sabrina
Yeah, the Bigfoot. We gotta make sure Bigfoot lovers are.
Ryan Reynolds
Raising a new generation of Bigfoot lovers. And it's important to protect them.
Sabrina
Scare before getting scared.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah, but we also want to get scared by you and all of your encounters that you've had with the paranormal on the other side. So please email us@2girls1ghostpodcastmail.com.
