So what when I talk on Christly Confessions about raising adult children, it's about y' all are at different places in your life now, and it's different trying to help an adult child versus having to deal with a child that's still in school or whatever. Grayson, from your perspective, do you still Feel like you need to be parented.

Yeah.

And in what regard?

So I think it's. I could still make some stupid decisions.

So let me. Because y' all are not unlike the majority of this generation that we're dealing with right now. What good does it do a parent to give you advice and then you turn around and not take it?

I mean, it just gives perspective.

Yeah. You can look at it from a different. Through a different lens.

So if I tell you, don't cross the street.

[Grayson]

Well, I mean, there's been certain times that you giving me advice has changed my decision on stuff.

Yeah, same.

And I think it has.

Do you believe that? Because I feel like that from my perspective and from all these other parents that are. That are reaching out. Like, I just got another message just now. But your generation, you want advice, but then a lot of times you don't take it. And so I feel like that.

But that's not on you. That's on.

I feel like that's ever. That's been everybody. I feel like at some point.

[Grayson]

I mean, I agree with that. I feel like you can give advice, but you can't make somebody take the advice.

[Aaron]

Right.

Yeah.

Do you feel like that?

But that's on a. That's on us. It's on anybody else.

But when a. When a parent says to you, okay, done, go, do you. At that point, you don't get to be pissed off because the parent has just thrown their hands up and said, I surrender. You want to screw up? Go screw up.

Yeah, I don't like.

I think it's.

Well, no, I just think it's a. A deeper conversation. It's more about delivery.

I do agree that sometimes delivery matters a lot.

Like, just throwing your hands up and saying you're done. Like, that's not that.

You're just like, you know what? Screw it. Go do what you're going to do. What do you think that's different than, like, you ain't going to listen anyways. You're going to do what you're going to do. Like, the conversations you have with me, sometimes you say you're going to do what you're going to do anyway. I feel like that's different than I've given up. I'm done. I'm not. I thought you get what I mean with me differently than.

Do you not think that a parent has a right to a certain level of peace?

[Grayson]

No. Yeah. I feel like you can't find your

peace in somebody else.

[Aaron]

No. You can find your peace with not being aggravated by somebody else.

You have peace within the God.

[Aaron]

No, God. God delivers you peace, but God also tells you to use common sense. So you can't be going back and doing the site revisiting the same thing over and over and over and then saying, oh, God, I don't have peace. At some point, you've got to throw your hands up in the air and say, I surrender. I'm done with this. How do you feel?

[Grayson]

And I feel like everybody's got a breaking point. It is what it is.

[Chris]

Everybody definitely has a different way of doing things.

[Grayson]

I feel like there's no one way that works for everybody.

[Aaron]

I think that in my perspective, I think that when as a parent, you raise your child to a certain age, that that parent needs to. Basically what you just said earlier, different perspective, is that you now have to look at us as not just parents, but also as human beings.

[Grayson]

Yeah. I feel like that changes the older you get.

[Chris]

It definitely does.

[Aaron]

And you should not be treating a stranger on the street better than you treat your flesh and blood.

[Grayson]

I agree.

[Aaron]

And if you look at it from a perspective of saying, you know what, my dad is at this. Is at this place in his life to where he's dealt with enough, so let him have this. Let him have this minute, or my mom has done this, and, you know, and she. She raised 10 kids and she. She's done all this. Give her. This is her time. Let her have it.

[Chris]

But I think that you interpret things as being malicious. And sometimes life just happens.

[Aaron]

When I'm talking about in hypotheticals here from. From all the people that are messaging me as well. But what are you saying that I take as whatever you just said? Malicious?

[Chris]

I think that you think. You think the majority of people have a malicious intent.

[Grayson]

Well, I mean, also look at what. You and I have talked about this before, though. Look at what's happened to us.

[Chris]

Yeah.

A lot of the people around us have had a malicious intent.

So when you go through that so many times, you say you ain't gonna let it happen again, but I don't think you.

It's just different with every relationship, with every person is different.

I'm not gonna let one person who was a scumbag ruin or make me doubt somebody that's been good to me.

Well, I don't think you do that.

Think it's someone that has been good to you. I think it. I think it's more. I mean, obviously, if you know somebody, you know somebody.

But do we really ever know. Do we really ever know someone? I mean that. I mean, that's even child, parent. Because I don't know everything that job done.

I feel like you can to a certain extent.

they play that role. If they see that it's working for them, then that's who they become.

And. And I'm not. I'm not about that. I want to. I want authenticity. I want to be able to know who I'm dealing with and. Or not. I want to deal with you. At the end of the day, I want to know if I want to deal with you. And to me, the person who is. Who is the fraudulent personality is really doing a disservice to themselves because they're having to be someone that they're not. Anytime that they're around me gets draining. Yes.

You see people on Instagram posting all kinds of crazy stuff, and I'm like, it's got to be draining to keep that up.

Well, from your perspective at 20, what do you think that social media has done negatively?

[Grayson]

Negatively, yeah.

What is the negative impact that it's had with you?

[Grayson]

I mean, where do I start?

So it's been that. So it's. It's had that much of a negative impact.

I mean, especially with us. Like, people come at us on a daily basis.

You and I both know you. We all say we don't give a. But it can catch you on a bad day. It can. Anything and you're just like, I think

that'll get, that'll get better when you get older.

I can genuinely say it doesn't. I don't give a damn what anyone says to me about me.

I don't either. I just, it pisses me off sometimes.

They don't even get that kind of anger from me.

We talked about in past podcast. If it's not, if it's something about me, I don't give a. I don't care. There's something about anybody else and I'm like that person.

Well, listen, I mean I. I have felt better, you know, when I've told people off. But now I just don't feel like, first of all, you just don't mean that much to me.

But if somebody says something in person, like they're getting there.

[Aaron]

Well, if someone says something in person, they gonna catch hands.

We already talked about that.

Hands. Forehead. I might spit in your face. You know, it is what it is. But I think that I was watching a thing the other day and it's so odd to me that we've been doing this social media now for a long time. Since 2015.

So 2012 was the show. So we've been. And we were trained when they brought the people in from New York to teach us how to use Twitter and all that stuff.

How many people have to be catfished before they realize they're being catfished? How many people on social media have to have to look at a picture and not know that that picture has been face tuned or, or whatever? I mean I don't believe shit that I see on social media.

You put a lot of thought into this.

Well, it's because I just think about. So because I watched this thing the other day about the kid who committed suicide and because of social media they sued Meta, they sued Google, they got a settlement out of it and the courts have ruled that the, that Metta and these other platforms need to be more involved with these young kids in this social media.

Well, I think that's the parents job.

[Aaron]

Well, it can't be just the parents job because I was on top of all of y' all and y' all were the biggest liars around and was. I'd take a phone and y' all would be on a damn. What was the thing that you got music on?

[Chris]

I don't know.

No, what was that little pocket thing that you listen to music on? Whatever the hell that is and y' all would be logging in and doing it on that.

No, back then you couldn't do it on that. You could only listen to music. It was an ipod. Yeah.

That's not what it was because.

And you destroyed ipods for no reason.

Because you couldn't understand technology, right?

Probably when I was freshman in high school, he would take my phone, but he never took my last phone. So I would just turn it on and use that one.

I think that for, you know, for me, I hope that within the next few years that we will see kids getting away from all this social media, that they will have another form of communication. Like, if you see kids that aren't allowed to have screen. Like younger kids aren't allowed to have screen time versus kids that are on an iPad 24 7. It's a complete difference in how they

There's so. They act so much better.

Well, their brain development. It affects brain development. Yeah.

A lot of kids need their asses popped.

But I mean, I don't think that they're gonna. I don't think people are gonna move away from it, especially with AI. I think people are.

It's one of those things where it would be. It would be great if they did, but they're not. Like, it's not gonna happen. And people make too much money off of social media. There's too much. It's never going to happen.

I think it's. I think it's sad because it's caused your generation, and many and generations after y' all to lose the ability to properly communicate.

I feel like it's affecting.

That's probably more his generation than mine.

He said, I want you to do me a favor. Turn around. See all that dirt getting moved across the street for that new building that's happening because of me. So the chances of Chase going. The chances are you'll be at Riverside before Chase is.

[Aaron]

Now, folks, the only reason that I pull that guard is because he was being a little rude.

[Grayson]

Didn't you have to donate gym equipment one time?

[Aaron]

I donated. I have donated to keep y' all in school or get y' all in

[Grayson]

schools because of me. He had to donate gym equipment because I beat the out of a kid. But in my defense, I was defending him.

[Aaron]

He was talking about him, and I whooped his ass.
