and good evening, everyone. We're already laughing here. Unfortunately, Mike cannot join us today. He's better, but he's swamped with his real work, his day job, unfortunately. But I am not alone. I am here with Gary Treibert himself because Bob and I were smart enough to come to Florida to get out of New York weather. And Gary and his girlfriend came down and have been with us for the week. So I know we won't get any sympathy because we're sitting in Florida sunshine and all you poor, poor people looking at the pool. Yeah, we're looking at the pool and the palm trees now. But yeah, we don't want people to hate us before we get started. But welcome, Gary. It's great. You know, we're in the same room on a podcast.
B
Yeah, thank you. Great to be here.
C
So we were trying to think of a topic to, you know, with Gary's experience and everything. And he came up with Ellen Crystal. Now, we've mentioned her on a couple of occasions, but Ellen Crystal was the one who really put pine bush on the map with her, as with her book Silent Invasion. But Gary personally knew her, so we're going to basically talk about his recollections of her and his experiences. So where were you living when you first met her and what prompted you to go to those pine bush meetings where you met her?
B
I was living in Walk Hill and me first say nothing says Pine Bish. Like Ellen Crystal.
C
Yeah, definitely.
B
And I was having a lot of experiences in the early 80s, like 83, 84, 85. It just seemed to go on. But I started, I had huge experiences there, like the. That Hudson Valley craft that was everyone was sighting was huge. And when it came over my house. But so anyway, I became interested in the subject and it brought back a lot of Past memories of things that happened to me as a child and as an adult, young adult and an older. So I. I went to Summer, I think I went to a conference and somebody I met there was talking about Ellen, Crystal and the Pine Bush group, or maybe not Ellen. They were talking about the Pine Bush group. So I went up there and went into a couple of their meetings and that's where I met Ellen.
C
Yeah. That was when the meetings were in the vfw. Yeah. Yeah. So the earlier meetings.
B
Yeah.
C
And so you got to talking to Ellen at the meeting. Did you share any of your experiences? You listened to hers or what was.
B
I don't think I shared any of mine with the people there because I didn't know any of them. But yeah, Ellen got up and spoke and she. I think she was sitting near me. So we ended up talking and exchanged. She told me that she came up there and had all these sightings and was writing a book and we exchanged telephone numbers and she started calling me whenever she was coming up because she lived in New Jersey.
C
So she came up quite often, right?
B
Yeah, probably once a week. Maybe every other week. I don't remember.
C
She lived in New Jersey.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah. So it wasn't like she, you know, 10 minutes and she's there.
B
It was 10 minutes for me. So she, I'm gonna be there at 7:30 or whatever.
C
Yeah. And this was before hundreds of people would line Searsville.
B
Yeah. There wasn't anyone out there but us.
C
Yeah. So just the two of you?
B
Yeah.
C
So I have to say, you were married at the time with kids. What'd your wife think of. Oh, I got a call from Ellen. We're going to go stand out in the woods in the dark. How'd that go?
B
She didn't really know what to think. But she wasn't happy with me meeting this woman in the woods that she never met, by the way.
C
Oh, okay.
B
You know, looking for UFOs. A little strange, doesn't it? But anyway, she bought it.
C
Well, with that, why don't we take our first break and then get into some of the experiences you shared with Ellen.

HudsonRiverRadio.com a subsidiary of Glacier Entertainment LLC blasting the competition in New York's Hudson Valley. And we are back and we're talking about Ellen Crystal. And everyone knows her for her UFOs, but she had a PhD in music composition. She had, I've seen conflicting things between four and six albums of. She loved synthesizer music and so, yeah, music was her career and then UFOs was her obsession, which we, many of us can relate to. So she actually gave you some of her cassettes, right? Her.
B
Yeah, they were just the little cassettes at the time. She gave me two or three of them. I don't remember and I don't know if I still have them, but I'm going to look for them when I get back to the Great North.
C
Yes, yes. And there are collectors. So if you are listening and you have Ellen Crystal cassettes, they're worth something now. So check your check.
B
Definitely dig through my stuff, my boxes of.
C
Yeah. And she also would send you. She had a monthly newsletter.
B
Yeah.
C
And what would be in that?
B
It was a monthly or weekly. I don't remember. Just, you know, sightings and info, you know, that she knew from other people and would put them in there. She started sending them to me and she sent me postcards for Christmas. You. You know, with her photos that she took, turned into postcards.
C
That's great. UFO Christmas postcards.
B
Yeah. Ellen. Now I have one of those. I know, stuck in the book.
C
Oh, that's great. So she invites you, she calls you up, your wife gets upset, but you go out anyway.
B
Anyway.
C
And what you had mentioned an experience where you saw light, bright light, going down into the woods. Can you talk about that one? Yeah.
B
We would meet at the cemetery on Route 52 there between Walden and Pine Bush.
C
The Jewish cemetery, which we have spoken about on numerous occasions. A real center of activity.
B
Yeah. And it wasn't locked at that time. You could go in there, and I think we were probably in there, and we would see lights appear across 52 in the Big field there. I think there's houses built there. They did build some houses deals, you know, hay fields, probably. And we'd see lights just kind of appear there and float over Route 52 and over our head and kind of go into the forest there behind us and down. Right down into the ground.
C
Yeah. I just want to point out, we have mentioned many times, one of the really unusual characteristics about Pine Bush are lights and craft coming out of the ground and going back into the ground.
B
Yeah.
C
So you did. You two definitely saw that.
B
Yeah, she saw things that I didn't see, but sometimes we weren't next to each other.
C
Yeah.
B
But I did see the light, you know, like the sparklers coming out of the ground, like. But around the craft. I didn't see a craft, but I. You know, it was all lit up with, like, sparks and.
C
Yeah, some of her. If you guys can. People are interested. Look online for Ellen Crystal's photos. And it looks, you know, the Fourth of July sparklers. The kids sparklers.
B
Yeah.
C
Well, they're not just for kids. I still do them.
B
They're in her book. Yeah, she has a lot of the photos in there.
C
I can't explain that as a normal occurrence.
B
Yeah.
C
And you physically. So this is important because people look at those photos and say she faked it or she did this, or she used a sparkler. But you actually saw sparkling just standing
B
there, you know, squealing.
C
My God, look at that. Now, you one time said that it looked like it went into the woods and something exploded. It looked like. Was that just because of the sparks or did you hear something?
B
I don't remember if I heard something, but it just, you know, lit up like an explosion.
C
Yeah.
B
And I actually got in my car and drove around the. Trying to access where it was, you know, a ways away. But I didn't see anything once I got out there.
C
Yeah. So you act. Did you think it was a plane that had crashed or you knew it was not a plane?
B
I knew it was not a plane. Whatever this was, you know, I knew that that's what it was.
C
Okay.
B
I don't know what it did over there and why it exploded, but.
C
Yeah. So you went out with her dozens of times, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you, you had see that light, said that she, she would see craft and all you're seeing is lights.
B
Yeah.
C
And the one thing that we hear, we heard from so many witnesses is that it sounded like there was sounds in the ground, like drilling, humming, vibrating. And you actually experienced that?
B
Yeah. Going on underground, like tunneling or something.
C
But yeah, you could hear it.
B
I. Yeah, I experienced that too.
C
Yeah. That's. That's bizarre. I've heard that from so many people that sometimes the ground would actually shake. Like there was heavy equipment under there doing. So I mean, that's. I don't know how to explain that. That just. That is.
B
Well, nobody has.
C
No, no, definitely not. And she experienced that a lot. Right.
B
It was def. Yeah, there's definitely something weird going on there. But I also went with her on down Searsville Road. I don't know. That's west Searsville Road or. I don't remember.
C
Yeah probably anymore.
B
And then a ways down, maybe a quarter mile, there was a. Another. A road that went off to the left and off of that one there was a kind of a dirt road that went off to the right and it went to some old farmhouses back there. And she had met with people back there that said a craft had come down and landed next to their farm.
C
Wow.
B
And aliens came out and were walking around on this road here.
C
So this is just a typical farming, hard working farming family.
B
Yeah.
C
Who told this to Ellen.
B
Yeah. And so we went there and looked around for a while and Ellen actually met with them, you know, and talked with them, but not when I was with her.
C
Okay, but they gave you permission to walk on the field?
B
We walked around there once in a while. We'd go there just to see if anything was going on.
C
Yeah. Yeah. And I guess they didn't report this to any. Who are you going to tell?
B
Yeah, back then I don't think they did.
C
Did you have any idea of when this happened? When they. Was it around the time in the early 80s, mid-80s. Oh, okay. So yeah, landing. That's pretty, pretty cool. Now Ellen Said she saw and photographed beings. Did you ever see them when you were with her?
B
No, I didn't.
D
Yeah.
B
Just I saw the lights and. Lights like a fountain around, you know.
C
Right.
B
Craft, I guess. But I didn't see the aliens that she photographed. And she would even say, you know, do you see them? No. No.
C
Yeah. Yeah.
B
You know, but maybe I wasn't tuned in on the same vibe as her. I don't know.
C
So the. The Silent Invasion book, she was working on it when you guys were going to the field. So some of the experiences. Maybe you were there with her when. Yeah, she was writing about them.
B
Yeah. I don't. I don't think I'm in it. Although she told me she was writing it, but she'd been writing it for a while.
C
Okay.
B
You know, she first experiences she had was in LA as a little girl, and she saw a craft come down the street that she was living on. And it was clear. You could see. She could see an alien or two sitting in this craft inside.
C
Wow.
B
She told me. She told me about that. And so she got interested in it. And.
C
Well, we had, as part of the prep for this show, there's. Ellen was on the show Sightings, which used to be one of my favorite shows. They had all kinds of weird stuff in there. And the sighting show talked about an experience on August 6, 1992. You had moved away from the area at that point. Okay.
B
I wasn't meeting with her anymore, but
C
she had videoed a couple of strange lights in the sky. And there were over a thousand witnesses that night in the Hudson Valley. And police stations were inundated with hundreds of calls, and people were seeing two, three, four different craft. And this Sightings episode, it's great because they had two pine bush witnesses. One of them said the craft was 300ft long. So like the size of a football field and only 300ft off the ground. That's really low.
B
Yeah.
C
And it passed directly over his house.
B
What was it shape like?
C
I don't even know if they could tell. It was so big. Nobody said. They just said it was so massive and so low, you know, filling the sky. And this other pine bush witness said that when the craft came over her house, she had three clocks in the house that ran on batteries, and all of them stopped at the same time. So how the hell does that happen? Unless it's, you know, that wasn't a. A commercial jet going over. That was some sort of EM field.
B
Yeah.
C
That interrupted.
B
Like the ghost hunters experience when in a haunted house. When all of a sudden all their with new batteries, flashlights go dead.
C
Been there, done that many times. You you bring extras and extras for extras. But yeah, so people can go on. If you look up on YouTube Ellen Crystal sightings show you can see her video and actually it happened all over the Hudson Valley that night. But she took the video near where I lived. I wasn't living in that area yet, but Route 17 through Chester was. She stopped the car and took the video of it of it there and then went up to Pine Bush. But people in Pine Bush and all over the Hudson Valley. So that was August 6, 1992. So let's take our second break if we could and get back to some more really interesting Ellen Crystal stuff. This is hudsonriverradio.com your local Rockland county station.

C
And we are back sitting here in sunny Florida with Carrie Tribert, who I have to say did our theme music, which we love, and back To Ellen, she told you a very interesting story from when she was a four year old child about the being very sick.
B
Oh, yeah, yeah. And the aliens healed her. Supposedly healed her. And I, I, I don't remember what she was sick from what she had.
C
No, I don't know. But she said she was seriously sick.
B
Seriously ill.
C
Eight months. That's a long time for a four year old. And she didn't come up with this with her? A psychic told her this, which you can say. Yeah, right. But apparently the psychic knew what the house looked like, knew that first of all she was sick. I mean, you know, you just meet somebody, oh, you were sick when you're four years old. Right. Who's going to know that?
B
Yeah.
C
So did she really believe that?
B
Yeah, she did. Absolutely.
C
Yeah, she did. And that was part of what made her want to keep reconnecting. Yeah, yeah. So a lot of these people who are in this field, she was really
B
sincere, honest and, you know, believable to me.
C
Yeah, yeah, yeah. A lot of people in this field find out they, they remember they had a sighting as a child or something big happened and that's what I wouldn't
B
have gone out there and met.
C
Yeah.
B
If I thought she was just a flake.
C
But yeah. Yeah, of course.
B
Sincere.
C
She also mentions in that sightings episode she was alone in pine bush, which I think this is the incident that made her never want to be alone again. She said she saw a bright light in the woods. She shined her flashlight over and she said there was a three and a half foot tall being, no clothing, pale beige, beige skin, huge yellow eyes, huge head. And it started running through the woods and she said it stopped and turned to look at her again. That's a little chilling. And her word, she said she felt this awesome power from it. This was exhilarating, but it was also terrifying that her heart was pounding and, and she took off. So, you know, it's kind of funny. You, you spend so many hours and you want so much to see something and then you do and you're like, oh, yeah, you know, it's unnerving. Yeah. But I think that's probably why she wanted you to keep going with her.
B
Yeah.
C
It's not, it's never smart, especially for a woman to go out in the woods anywhere on their own, particularly pine bush.
B
Sometimes her boyfriend came with her.
C
Yeah.
B
And maybe another girlfriend came too, even when I was there.
C
Yeah.
B
But I was with her alone a lot there and I was having my own experiences in Walk Hill at the same Time. So, you know, I was eager to join up with somebody.
C
Yeah, it's nice to share these stories.
B
Yeah.
C
So you had mentioned something about a Walker Valley case as well.
B
Yeah, because I. I used to go out at night and drive around. I saw lights because I was having a lot of it. Experiences around my house in Walk Hill. And I would see a light, like, off in the distance towards the ridge up there, and I would kind of follow it, and, you know, it didn't seem like it was too far away or too high. And I would drive up Huggleberg Hill, if you live or walk hill or pine bush, you know, that road, and follow it. This craft. And. Yeah, I get up by the Jehovah's Witness farm around that area, and I'm still following this bright light, and then followed it to a. An intersection that went back to Route 52, and it went over a little bridge to the right. And I think there was a little market there kind of in the woods, but the craft kind of disappeared there right there. I lost it. But I was forever following craft around that seemed like they were right here.
C
Yeah, they. They don't call Pine Bush the UFO capital of the Northeast for nothing.
B
Yeah, truly.
C
So I saw her say on this show that she believed the reason they are coming there is they have a terminal, terminally physical problem, Something with reproduction. She thought they were coming here because they needed something, which, you know, who knows? And she also had. She talked to you about thinking that Pine Bush had portals?
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah. Is that what she thought they were coming in and out of the ground?
B
Portals? Yep.
C
Yeah. Yeah. So any other experiences you can think of that. That you had with Ellen?
B
No, just, you know, meeting her there and watching lights appear suddenly out of nowhere and, you know, move around. And she was taking a lot of
C
photos and what did she use to take photos? A 35 millimeter. Yeah.
B
I don't know what it was. Yeah, you know, I'm. I'm not really into cameras, and I. Yeah, I've never owned one, so I don't know what she had, but, you know.
C
And then she did videotaping as well.
B
Ye.
C
Yeah. Right.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah. Was that the old video where you had to carry the vcr?
B
Yeah, great big. Yeah, the great big.
C
The great big ones.
B
The one on your shoulder, you know, like a. A boom box.
C
That's right. So. And then unfortunately.
B
And she was. She was a tiny little girl, too.
C
Oh, really?
B
Yeah. She wasn't. Wasn't a.
C
But she. She was bold.
B
Yes, she was. Definitely was.
C
Yeah. You have to have.
B
Afraid to speak her mind either.
C
Yeah.
B
No matter what people said of her.
C
Now, unfortunately, for a while, she didn't call. And then she called you finally with a sad, sad information.
B
Sorry. Yeah. She had cancer and she. Shortly after that she died, but happened really quick. Happened really quick. And I don't remember what kind of cancer it was, but, you know, I was really sad to hear about it because, you know, she used to keep in touch with me with the postcards and. And the flyers that she sent out. But anyway, like I said, I think she was really sincere in what she was doing. Believed in it.
C
Yeah. Yeah. So I would definitely recommend people read the Silent Invasion. You're not going to agree probably with everything or her interpretation, but, boy, I can't think of anybody who was out there as. As dedicated to Pine Bush.
B
Yeah.
C
As her for that long.
B
Absolutely.
C
And if she had survived, I think she'd probably still be.
B
There were. Yeah. There were a group of people in Pine Bush that had been getting together for years.
C
Right.
B
Local people who lived there and had sightings and experiences. But Linda. Not Linda, but Ellen really put Pine Bush on the map.
C
Yeah.
B
You know.
C
Yeah. And she didn't let you know it's one thing to live in town and, you know, oh, let's go out, look. But when you have to drive an hour or two to do this. Yeah. It's. Again, you know, she's got things. I don't know, you know, photos. I don't know what they are.
B
I don't know what they are either.
C
And was she really seeing everything? I think, like you said, she believed she was seeing and she was sincere. And she does have photographs that are just bizarre that I was into photography and I look at some of the. Like, how do you even do that? And, you know, I go back to that sparklers thing. You know, people say, oh, it's faked this way. But if you physically saw these sparklers and she was photographing them.
B
Yeah.
C
There is no hoax there.
B
No, there wasn't a hoax.
C
Yeah. And I did interview someone. I think it was. I think it was the early 2000s. She was on West Searsville and she said it looked like sparklers were just coming up out of the ground, this sparkling energy. And then there was this huge swirling thing in the middle of the road. You know, you hear that enough times. It's. Is it a natural phenomenon? Maybe, but it's a real phenomenon.
B
Yeah.
C
And, you know, to my knowledge, sparklers don't come out of the ground normally. Normally. So we've gone up to Pine Bush. You know, we could do the, the Pine Bush fair and you know, you still go out hunting for UFOs, right?
B
And other things.
C
And other things. Yes, you can mention it. We have to say if we haven't said it before, what do you really like?
B
Bigfoot and Dogman.
C
Dog Man.
B
Dogman in particular. I'm into Dogman now.
C
So please everyone out there, send your Dogman stories to Gary. What do you mean now? So this is good because you can read somebody's book and form your opinions, but until you talk to somebody who knew her, who was out with her for hours and hours, dozens of times, you know, you get a sense that what she's saying is what she saw and believe. And you may not, you know, definitely believe in her interpretation of things, but you never saw her try to hoax anything. She's just there with her cameras.
B
What you see is what you get.
C
Yes. Yeah. Well that is. That is really good to know. And I believe it. It had before the Pine Bush UFO museum had a display on her. I think they still do and I think the family still has all of her photos and stuff. So hopefully someday they'll come out with that because it's an important documents to the history of you know, sightings in the Hudson Valley and particularly fine bush.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
B
They should have the book in there, I think.
C
Well, I don't know if they. I don't know if it's still being printed. I don't think so.
B
Yeah.
C
I think you have to find use of course. Copy do. She gave you one of the first copies. That's cool. She liked you.
B
Yeah, we were friends.
C
That's great. So if you're going to look for the book, there's a num. Number of books called Silent.
B
Yeah.
C
Silent Invasion. So make sure it's Ellen Crystal and it's C R Y S T A L L. So search for that. And she does have. There are some shows she was on, you can see on YouTube. So I'm sorry I never got to meet her. But yeah, you have to give her credit for her dedication to this and I think she's real important part of not just Pine bush but the whole history of ufology.
B
I do too.
C
Yeah. So any. Any final thoughts from me? Yes. From you?
B
Yes. Keep your eye to the sky and that's.
C
That's all we can ask for. So I think Gary and I have to get back to the. Get into the pool.
B
I think so.
C
I think we will. Brian's giving us a bad look. Back in the studio. So thanks for doing this on vacation. As soon as I knew you were coming down, I thought, ooh, you know, I have my equipment, my mic here. It's a great chance to, you know, do an interview in person. So thanks.
B
Pleasure. Thank you.
C
Thanks for sharing it. And we will see everybody back on UFO Headquarters probably when we're back in New York.
B
Next time using our cajones.
