Perhaps the most controversial issue of Christianity is the trustworthiness of the Word of God. The church has been exposed to over 200 years of concentrated criticism and skepticism leveled against the credibility of the Scriptures, so that now even Christians are divided with respect to their confidence in the Bible, in the Word of God. And I remind you that this is our greatest point of vulnerability, that Christ, in spite of the misery and loneliness that he was subjected to, said, I live by every word. I'm going to believe God. God has said it. And it's not believing in God that makes the difference whether you're a Christian or not. It's believing God. Do you believe God when he speaks? And I think that's the test that we're going through today, the test of whether or not we live in trust of the Word of God or whether we're willing to negotiate it with Unbelief.

Drawing from long-standing challenges to biblical credibility, R.C. Sproul calls listeners to consider if their confidence in Scripture shapes their faith and life. The episode confronts the cultural and personal pressures that can lead to “negotiating” with biblical truth versus living with unwavering trust in God's revealed Word.
On the Church’s Vulnerability:
“This is our greatest point of vulnerability, that Christ, in spite of the misery and loneliness that he was subjected to, said, I live by every word. I’m going to believe God. God has said it.”
— R.C. Sproul (00:24)
True Christian Distinction:
“It’s not believing in God that makes the difference whether you’re a Christian or not. It’s believing God.”
— R.C. Sproul (00:53)
The Real Test:
“Do you believe God when he speaks? And I think that's the test that we're going through today, the test of whether or not we live in trust of the Word of God or whether we're willing to negotiate it with unbelief.”
— R.C. Sproul (01:00)
R.C. Sproul urges believers to reflect on what it truly means to “trust God’s Word” in a time of widespread skepticism and division. He calls for a faith that does not merely profess belief in God, but actively believes God’s every promise and command, echoing Christ’s own reliance on Scripture. The episode serves as both challenge and encouragement for listeners to stand firm where it matters most—on the trustworthiness of God’s written Word.
