Now, how many times have you heard it? I don't know. I've heard it hundreds of times where people have said to me, you know, religion may be good for you and going to church and all that's fine if you get something out of it, but I don't feel the need for Jesus. You don't feel the need for Jesus? Is your heart that hard? Don't you realize that there's nothing on this earth that you need more desperately than you need Jesus? What else can satisfy your need except Jesus? And I say to people, what do you do with your sin? What do you do with your guilt? And I've said that I don't know how many times to people, what do you do with your guilt? I've yet to have somebody say to me, I don't have any guilt. I don't have any sins. Every impenitent sinner on this planet, even sociopaths, know that they have guilt and they know that they have sinned. And if you are a human being and you know that you have sinned, how can you be so foolish as to think you don't need Jesus because no one else can fix your problem?

Podcast: Ultimately with R.C. Sproul
Episode: Jesus, Our Greatest Need
Date: July 3, 2026
In this soul-searching episode, R.C. Sproul addresses the critical and universal question: Do we truly recognize our greatest need? Drawing on years of biblical reflection, Dr. Sproul challenges listeners to consider their innate need for Jesus above all else. The episode emphasizes the reality of sin and guilt that all people experience and illustrates why Jesus is uniquely sufficient to meet humanity’s deepest need.
With a tone that is direct, pastoral, and convicting, Dr. Sproul urges listeners to honestly confront their own hearts, rethink complacency toward spiritual needs, and recognize the unique and vital role Jesus plays in truly resolving humanity’s deepest problem—guilt before God.
Key Message:
No need is greater than our need for Jesus, because only He can deal with our sin and guilt. Denying this need is both foolish and spiritually perilous.
