I drive my bus in a busy city. That's why road safety is so important to me. I know that I must slow down and be extra careful when I make a wide turn. Buses need more room than cars. Everyone can help keep our roads safe. Next time you're driving, remember to give buses plenty of time and space to finish turning before driving ahead. Let's all plan to share the road safely. Jameela
what's up, y'? All? Welcome back to another episode of Unhinged Immoral. I'm Jameela.
Mecca
And I'm Mecca.
Jameela
And we're in a studio today. You know, Mecca's here for the black effect panel. And so, of course, we was like, well, might as well get back to doing some in person stuff. And you guys love it. We love it as well. And we're in a nice little cozy studio where. What. What is Drake be saying? I feel like anytime I do something fancy, I'm like, yo, I'm at the. I'm at the. I'm at the Migonos and Balibos. I'm on a private jet.
Mecca
I'm in the black truck. Words of Elgin. I'm in the black truck. I'm gonna call you back.
Jameela
Like, that's. I love fancy stuff. It's like. And it's funny because, like, I don't think ever I would ever be, like, a real deal.
Mecca
I'm at the Masoni in Bibelos.
Jameela
Yeah, I'm at the Masoni. I don't even know what none of those words is. I don't know. That's how I know. He was on some fancy ass shit. And I'm like, I need to really memorize. I want to understand what that means. Like, one day I will.
Mecca
You need to go to Missoni, to
Jameela
the Bibelos, to the Bibelos. Whenever I. The day I met the Bibelos, you bitches will hate me, B.
Mecca
Below, y'. All. I'm at the Jeebs.
Jameela
Okay, Big B. But you know, I was saying, like, I don't think I'll ever become a real diva, no matter how successful I get. But I'm always gonna pretend to be one because I just think that that's fun.
Mecca
I seen you tweet. You couldn't justify dropping 10k on a bag.
Jameela
That sounds so crazy.
Mecca
It does.
Jameela
And maybe it's because I have not gotten to the wealth of that, but it's like, I feel like if I had a million dollars in my account right now, I feel Like, I would still be like, 10,000 on the bag.
Mecca
Yeah.
Jameela
I think I've just been so frugal and broke for so goddamn long that I cannot. I am just like. And it's funny because. And this is no shade to the people, but I know a lot of influencers, like, when they really start making a big. You know, they. They get the good. The nice car. They get the view. And I'm like, girl, I'm scared of being broke again.
Mecca
I'm driving my little car till the wheels fall off.
Jameela
Listen, like, I don't know. And being in LA makes me feel so.
Mecca
Like, when I left LA, 25 Erewhon smoothie.
Jameela
You know what I mean? And something about saying that you're in LA for work is so.
Mecca
It's tea. It's tea.
Jameela
Wait, when is it? Oh, I'll be in la.
Mecca
I'll be in LA for work.
Jameela
I'll be in LA filming.
Mecca
Don't know. Can't tell you what I'm filming. But we're filming something. Yeah, Y' all already know what we were talking about.
Jameela
I can't speak on it because whole time, Kev is already in.
Mecca
Kevin, mind you, that's literally how I was the first day. I was like, are we allowed to say this? And then I went on Kev's page
Jameela
and was like, kevin, Kev posted before we even got to la, like, look at my new set that we're gonna be on. I'm like, oh, okay. So we can talk about it.
Mecca
We can say it. Cool.
Jameela
I'm just trying to be happy.
Mecca
I mean, I went on a whole hike around Glendale that one day. You went to the gym.
Jameela
Really?
Mecca
Yeah. Like, when you went to the gym, I went on a walk to get, like, my 10K steps in. And them houses, I'm already knowing them houses was 2, 3, $4 million, probably more than regular.
Jameela
That Fucking Los Angeles, California.
Mecca
Yes. $7, y'. All more than minimum wage dollars. I said, this is crazy. I said, oh, that's why. I was like, zillian. Oh, I'm in the black truck.
Jameela
Okay. I don't know. Kev called the car. And then on top of that, the. The. The set was kind of far away. So, like, yeah, if we would have Ubered there and back every day, we would have been racking. It was some coin.
Mecca
26 minutes each way without traffic.
Jameela
I had timed it. It was 40 minutes away.
Mecca
26 miles. My bad.
Jameela
Yeah, it was 40 minutes away. Them was some long rides because we was talking mad long in them cars, right? Yeah. We got to know, Vinnie. We got to know.
Mecca
Okay.
Jameela
Hey, Vinny, how was your day?
Mecca
We worked all day. Yeah.
Jameela
We got to know how was your LA experience?
Mecca
If you could trim it down 10 out of 10. Honestly, this will be our third time in LA doing something with Kev. And I feel like every time it gets better, which I never expect, but at this point, I'm like, that we gotta start expecting, you know, we gotta start expecting. Cause what was the first time? One of them times we handled our own. No, no, no, we didn't. But one of the times we weren't at the hotel, One of the times we were in the Airbnb.
Jameela
Yeah, the first time we just.
Mecca
That was for Yearborn.
Jameela
You're around your. Yeah, we just opted for an Airbnb instead because Jazz was gonna come. Yeah, that was like a little finesse.
Mecca
Yeah. But every single time, I'm like, yo, it gets more fun and more fun. And then this time when we did Safe Space, the first time, it was much more controlled in terms of they were doing two scenes at a time. So Mel, like, went earlier that day, Mel and Patrick. And when she was leaving, we was coming in. So I got to sit there for your scenes, you got to sit there for mine. We didn't get to see the whole thing. Whereas this, y' all saw, it was a whole bunch of people who you've been watching on the Internet for years and years and years, and we're getting to sit there and watch the scenes just play out. Like, there were several times where I was not in a scene, but I wanted to watch it. Cause I'm like, this is funny. And I don't know, it's fun to watch something being filmed, especially when, like, I guess you have interest in the industry and just seeing how everything works. I was kind of also taking it in as, like, class, per se, because it's like, what, my second time on a set. So the next time on a set, it's like, oh, I'm learning more each time. What about you?
Jameela
This one was really cool. I was just like, wow, this is legit. Cause like you said, with Safe Space, it was a much smaller production. We had what it was a. I think it was probably a three camera setup then, too. But, you know, they were on sticks for the most part. And the crew, it was, I wanna say max, five people for the crew. So it was just. It was a very, very small production, which. And that's not to downplay. It's just like the physically much smaller Y. And so it Was less intimidating. I've been in rooms like that a couple of times. I'm like, okay, this is not okay. I can. You know, I can do a little one versus it. We are four or five times the size, production wise, where we have a full crew. Right. We actually have a first ad. We have a whole grip department. Like, I was like, oh, they got the grip truck.
Mecca
Everything.
Jameela
Oh, we're. I was like, yeah, this is. This is real. We're filming on location. Yeah, like this. We got a whole set. And then for me, seeing the movies that also filmed here, that was really cool. Catch me if you can. Hello, Leonardo DiCaprio. My fucking goat. Soul plane. It was a couple other ones, a full frontal. It was a lot of, like, movies that were shot there. So I was like, that's really cool. And then just being around all of the comics was like, that was cool too, because it's like, damn. It's like iron sharpening iron. And it's a competitive. It's a good competition in the sense that, like, we're all trying to be super funny. So it's like, ooh, I'm feeling my funny tingle. And I'm feeling like that. That spirit of, like, do more, do more. I'm like, yes, I like this. And I liked even the parts where we weren't filming, where we were just in that room talking shit. Yes.
Mecca
In the green room. I can't.
Jameela
Having a great Kiki.
Mecca
I can't decide which part was more fun for me, the filming itself or the green room. Kiki's. Because they were both equally like. They were just so fun in a different way. And something that I feel like I've always kind of been like this. And I've always heard Kev say it, but it's like cemented it for me is that I'm finna do anything for the joke. Like, sometimes you kind of hesitate. But there's going to be a scene that y' all see where we're trying. Kev can't get in line. And Kev really fell. And I was the one who was behind him. And I seen. I feel like I was the only one who realized, like, this is not a bit like he really finna bust his ankle. And the seat kind of broke a little bit. And so I was. Everyone's still committed. And I'm like trying to catch him. Cause I'm like, he could twist his ankle. Cause the way it fell, I was like, kev gonna twist his ankle. But then Rich kind of called pause. And Kev was Like, no, keep going.
Jameela
No, literally.
Mecca
Oh. So fuck your ankle. Yeah, got it, got it, got it.
Jameela
I was like, and this is why I do it.
Mecca
This is. This is.
Jameela
This is what I do it for. The commitment. Like, I'm willing to look stupid. And I did look stupid. And I'm so happy about looking stupid. I can't wait to watch it. Because, for one, we weren't even there for the first two days of production, so I have no idea what they did. I know they acted a fucking fool, though. But then we get on there, and then on top of that, a lot of times, we're in the green room waiting to get. So, like, I didn't see the vast majority of the sketches being shot, so I literally cannot wait to watch it as just simply a viewer. And then even more so, being a writer on this series, I was gagged boots at the opportunity. This is my first time collaborating. Well, I've collaborated writing before, but not with a full writer's room in this way, in this capacity for a series. And it is very, very different than writing on your own, because when you're writing on your own, you just do, do, do. I like it. Cool. Put, you know, close the laptop and you be done versus writing with a whole group of people is, you know, we're reading it out loud, right? And that's. That's a vulnerable thing, too, with writing, like, so let me explain this joke. And then it's like, you get. Like you get it. Like, you get it.
Mecca
No, I don't get it.
Jameela
And then it's like, okay, so, like, so here's the funny, right? And then on top of that, now we're opening the floor. Now, how can we level it up? How can we make this bit funnier? How can we take it more extreme? And I think one of the funnest parts of, like, our writing process, we had a day where we're going through, like, hundreds of sketches, and we're like, either yay or nay or let's make it better, right? And so we're going through each sketch, and we're like, but what if they did this? And what if they did that? And what if they died? Like, we were literally.
Mecca
What if they died?
Jameela
We. When I tell you it was so funny in those. I don't know if it made the cut.
Mecca
I don't know.
Jameela
I will tell you. We went and it. And I love this about writing, too, because with writing, it's like you throw shit on the wall, and if it sticks, it sticks. It doesn't. But You. You. You say, like, you go far. Right? And so we were. And we're taking it there, and we're all a little off in the head. We're. I mean, the shit that we were suggesting was absolutely ridiculous, but in, like, the best way. There were so many times where Rich said, kevin's not gonna let us do that. We'd be like, okay. Did you ask him, though? And we'd be like, okay, but what if they die? Like, we would literally just go so far and be like, okay, guys, so we're not gonna do any 9, 11 jokes now. Why? Okay, bro. Like, all right, man, listen, we had a great time.
Mecca
Maybe if it wasn't Kev. Kev is still so family friendly.
Jameela
And that'd be the thing. So it's like. And that's awesome.
Mecca
Cause honestly, that last scene that we. That was fun. That was fun. And the execution was really well thought out. When Rich first said it to me, though, I said, is that gonna be offensive? Like, that was the first thing that. But the way it was executed, filming it from start to finish, it was so fun. I'm so excited for y' all to see that scene in particular.
Jameela
Yeah.
Mecca
But I think. Yeah. Cause we're in an age where everything is considered offensive. And even, like, some of this stuff, I was like, dang, could this be considered offensive?
Jameela
We're on the line. We're a lot. No, no.
Mecca
We're on the line for a lot of reasons.
Jameela
We're on that line. And, hon, that. For me, that is why I love comedy so much, and that's why I respect comedy so much. Because it's very difficult. Because it's easy to be offensive. It's not easy taking something that can very easily be offensive and making it funny. And so then people don't really care. And so that was, like, a part of that exercise, too. We have this bit that's funny. We can make it funnier if we tweak it a little bit. But then also, we also have to be in line with the brand of Kev on stage. So it's like, it was really an exercise and tool of how funny. How funny are you really? If you can flip and twist and, you know, change this around to fit this thing? And I think it was just a great exercise for everybody. Even, like, for the actors on set. Like, hey, here's your beat.
Mecca
Do it. You know who was really funny? And Shout out to Ida. And no one caught the joke in real time, but I caught it. Cause I thought it was like, girl, that was Masterful and could be considered offensive. But your delivery was not. When y' all were sitting in the section and remember she was a bottle girl and it was three girls. Patrick came in, but when she came in, he was looking down and she was like, oh, you guys added a fourth girl to the section. It was so funny because, like, she couldn't see his face. And I was like, girl, that was so fucking funny. And I feel like obviously when y' all watch it back. Cause you were so in the scene that y' all didn't hear it. I'm like, that is going to be so funny when it's because I was on the other side laughing. Yeah, that was good.
Jameela
It was fun. And honestly, with improv and comedy in general, my favorite part is always watching people break character and trying not to break character. That's like. That for me is fun. Like whenever I watch Martin, my Martin fans out there already know because there are full on, like, what's it called?
Mecca
You're watching them break character?
Jameela
What's the thing? Compilations. There's full on compilations of simply them breaking character on that show. Yeah, that's. I love that shit. Because it's like everybody was so fucking funny in this scene that you got somebody turning around like this. And there were moments where I was filming. I can't remember what scene it was, but it was so fucking funny. I had to simply turn around. Like I need to look somewhere to hold my breath. Like I'm clenching with everything in me. And that be funny to me. When I see people do. When I see people trying not to break character, that shit is so funny to me. And it makes the scene funnier. Like when you're in school and the teacher falls or does some dumb shit and you're not supposed to laugh. Oh, my God.
Mecca
The one time I actually fully broke character. Not like, oh, I'm. Because I feel like with safe space that happened and they kept it in. So I'm wondering, are they gonna keep it in?
Jameela
I definitely think they will keep a
Mecca
lot of it in. Actually. When we did our scene with spoken reason and he. He did his whole bit and his last bar, like right before he walked away, I really was not expecting that. And I broke character so bad that I stepped off and I turned away. But it's just very obvious that I fucking broke character. And so I really want to see if they're going to keep it in because it's so funny.
Jameela
I feel like they're going to do this. I feel like they're definitely going to Keep a little bit of break in there. But I also think they're going to drop bloopers. I hope they have to drop a blooper, because it was so silly. And there were moments where we would literally all bust out laughing, and that's just so funny to me. So I definitely could see that happening.
Mecca
And much like with anything else, when the times were, everybody would break character. Even though they had ran that scene, we had to run it again and do it where they didn't. So the bloopers, I really do hope for this. I know they did slight bloopers for safe space, but these bloopers would go crazy. Cause it was just like, these bloopers
Jameela
could be its own episode.
Mecca
You know what I'm saying?
Jameela
We need a bonus episode. And now nostalgia break. I'm always gonna find a moment for nostalgia.
Mecca
Are you gonna mention the DVDs? Yes. The VHS's?
Jameela
Yes.
Mecca
I miss those so much.
Jameela
There was a moment in time. Young grasshoppers out there. I know you guys only know about streaming and things where you would get, first of all, bring back physical media.
Mecca
Well, yes.
Jameela
Thank you.
Mecca
Hello.
Jameela
Thank you. But when you got the physical dvd, right? Of course, you would have the movie. Cool. But then you would have director's cut, alternate ending, the extendo, the bloopers come on, the deleted scenes, the tracks, them
Mecca
doing interviews, the behind the scenes, them getting their makeup.
Jameela
Honestly, love that shit.
Mecca
We need to bring that back. We do. It could. Obviously, it would be done very differently, but that could be its own thing on streaming. Like, you know how, like, on Netflix, specifically, like, they'll have, like, a collection of something, and it's like, you could put that in the collection of, like, bloopers, directors, cut, staff interviews. Actually, Hulu kind of did it with the JFK love story. And the cast members did a podcast while it was coming. While it came out.
Jameela
Paradox is doing that.
Mecca
Exactly.
Jameela
I love that they're. Cause it's like, okay, that's. And that's. That's a way that they're keeping up with the times. Right. Cause podcasting is very popular.
Mecca
Yeah.
Jameela
So. So they're kind of blending both. And I don't mind that. Right.
Mecca
I don't.
Jameela
But we need something more. And I think also, especially with black media, you know, we are fighting for the retention and things like that, and to prove to these studios that our stories are important. Right. And I think that if we bring back breaking that fourth wall and allowing the actors, the crew and people to really, like, dive in, like, what was it like making the film, not just with the press interviews. Like, that's a part of it too. Please do the pre and post press interviews, love. But we also want to see behind the scenes. We want to see what the. What it took to build a set, you know what I mean? When Ryan Coogler sat up there and broke down why he chose to change the aspect ratios per scene, it hooked everybody. They said, I don't even know what the fuck this nigga is talking about, but I want to go watch to understand.
Mecca
I feel like that video is what made everyone really want to see Sinners that did numbers.
Jameela
And you attract both audience. You attract the people who are like, I love that he's passionate about it. I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, but thank you. And I'm gonna go see it because you're damn near begging me and I'm gonna go watch it. And you're black and you're explaining it nigga clearly know what you're talking about. Then there's gonna be people like me who are fucking film nerds and shit's like, my God, on today, you're doing something that a lot of people don't do because a lot of people don't care about the art and the craft. And that's no shade, no tea. Well, maybe it is, I don't know. But some people just want to point and shoot. Some people want to flatten everything because that's what. Because we're talking about fast paced shit, right? And so it's quicker. You'll get the material out quicker. But is it juicy?
Mecca
I think there's going on. I think that there needs to be room for both. I as I love a good Facebook sketch as much as the next bitch. But I also, when we went to see the drama, crazy movie, if you haven't seen it, amazing film. The one thing I will say since the Ryan Coogler explaining Sinners and since my eyes were open to kind of like, okay, film a lot of them scenes. I was very hip to like, I'm like, oh, I see how y' all film this. I see how y' all set this up. This prop design is really cool. And obviously that's just with me taking interest, me working in the industry, me just like picking up and paying attention when people are speaking. Like, I thought the. The drama was so well shot in my head. I was even thinking about because this is a job shout out to Ms. Ruth Hampton University alum. Costuming. I was like, these costumes are fitting the Characters so well. That is a skill to, like, dress people. And obviously we had a costumer as well to dress people and make them fit the vibe of the character and what they're trying to convey. Like they're. There's a need for each one of these jobs.
Jameela
Yeah. And I. And I like being able to highlight those. Because sometimes you don't. Sometimes it's not even like a lack of care. It's just you don't know. You don't know what you're looking at. Right. Like, you know it's good, but you don't really know exactly why it's good, what's making it. And now that you, like, are, you know, peeling that bitch back and saying, this is why it's so good. Because this was. And it's like, ah, I. And I saw that, but I didn't even. I didn't even. I didn't even peep that it was this. And it was. And it was intentional. Yes, this shit is intentional. But also, while I am a film buff for sure, and I'm going to eat up all of the good cinematic glories of the world, I also love a cheeky comedy shout out to Yoomie and Tuscany. It was such a cute ass fucking movie.
Mecca
Okay, let me say this.
Jameela
And it was simple. We don't have all the fancy schmancy.
Mecca
We've gotten away from what the rom com is. And it's crazy because people romanticized rom coms from the 90s and the early 2000s and even the 2000s. Because I remember going to see Just Friends. Or no, I'm sorry, Friends with benefits. With Timberlake and Kunis in the movie theater. Very simple, very cheeky. One, two, three. It doesn't always need to be this long, elaborate plot. Yeah, sometimes you just wanna laugh.
Jameela
I saw somebody on Twitter say something about like, I don't wanna go see you, me and Tussini. Cause it looks like cheesy. What are. Oh, I'm sorry. You're too good for a fucking cheesy rom com. Lame ass bitch. You don't even know what they're. They're for. This is what it's for. Have y' all never seen a rom com before? What? Rom com is cinematically amazing. Like, oh, my God, the shots. No, bitch. They put that camera up there. They do the same shots every single time.
Mecca
Why?
Jameela
Because in that type of movie, the shots are not that fucking important.
Mecca
People will say, that's cheesy, but then say, When Harry Met Sally is the greatest movie ever created. It's a cheesy romantic comedy.
Jameela
We have to get back to our roots. You guys are being very fucking pretentious. And as a pretentious bitch, I can say that you guys are annoying pretentious and you don't know how to enjoy things. There are categories for a reason. Yep. If you want a fucking action, bitch, go watch your action. This is a rom com. And in my rom com, I want cheese, I want corn. I want a good old nasty soundtrack to keep me moving. I want humor. I want sexy people on my screen. We've gotten away from that, too. I don't know what's going on, but a rom com, you need to be sexy. I don't know what the fuck is going on, and I'm not gonna point and name a name, but that is an important factor. Thank you, Yumi and Tuscany, for bringing hotness back. You cannot be ugly starring in a rom com. Unfortunately, that's not your beat. Now you could be the sidekick. You could be the friend, you know, you know your place. The funny, ugly sidekick. But the man of interest must be sexy. Oh, the man of special. I need to get it. I need to understand why this bitch is falling over, stumbling and dripping her fucking coffee all over her. Cause he's hot and sexy. Why the fuck would you do that and he's not?
Mecca
That's very much how Stella got her groove back.
Jameela
Come on.
Mecca
Like, it made sense.
Jameela
Exactly.
Mecca
Very much. Every nigga in Think Like a Man.
Jameela
Hello? It made sense that Think Like a
Mecca
Man was an era.
Jameela
Perfect. Perfect, mind you. That was also based off of a book. But Steve Harvey wasn't all up and through it, was he? Because do we wanna see Steve Harvey all up and through that movie?
Mecca
We don't. No, we didn't.
Jameela
We wanted to see Megan good and Michael Ealy fine ass.
Mecca
We just wanted to see Method and Kelly. That's all I needed from that. That's it. We ain't seen.
Jameela
There was a lot of potential there as well.
Mecca
It was.
Jameela
There was a lot of potential.
Mecca
Oh, you know, that ain't even my peoples.
Jameela
But I was gonna give it to them if they simply would have taken the route of Think like a man, I. E. Taking the Michael Tyler.
Mecca
Just like a cameo. Just like a quick cameo.
Jameela
Yeah, then you would have had. And then also, like, maybe not so much like I love the Lord propaganda, every sentence. You know what I mean?
Mecca
Cause you know what's crazy? Even Tyler Perry has gotten away from that. Do you remember when Every time.
Jameela
I know it be dicks on the screen. That ain't got nothing to do with the word. It be dicks. Verse 36.
Mecca
But I'm like, natala, listen. He said with beauty and black. He said, no, but we gonna get a little Christianity in this with Miss Debbie. I'm a pastor. We gonna get something.
Jameela
We gonna get a little bit.
Mecca
But it's not gonna be the whole plot. Cause you don't have dicks. That used to be the main thing. Yes.
Jameela
And that's Indian church. There's. I just listen. Don't y' all know how I y' all know. Y' all know my disposition.
Mecca
Is there Islam? A Muslim version of Tyler Perry? Like where the movies are centered around Islam.
Jameela
The only Muslim movie I've seen is Malcolm X,
Mecca
bitch. I am. I'm trying to think, bend it like Beckham.
Jameela
I don't know.
Mecca
That was more about soccer and she didn't want to be as in David Beckham. Yeah, but it's a UK movie. It's like a coming of teen.
Jameela
So where did the Muslim come from?
Mecca
She's like, Indian.
Jameela
Are Indians Muslim?
Mecca
Some of them are.
Jameela
No, they were Hindu.
Mecca
They. They be. They be Muslim too though. And some of them be Christian type, you know, that's the most populated country.
Jameela
Billion people in the country. I tell you, whatever.
Mecca
All types of religions over there. For real. They do.
Jameela
It's a lot of people up. And I'll be forgetting India.
Mecca
That's why India is a whole of the world. Listen, being Bollywood famous, you really famous.
Jameela
He already got half, right. That's half the world right there.
Mecca
That's half of it.
Jameela
Shout out to Bollywood.
Mecca
Shout out to Nick Jonas wife. They said she got ran out of Bollywood because she was the most famous Bollywood man w or his husband. And the wife was also actress. And that's how she got bald in Bollywood. That's why she came to the States, got with Nick Jonas.
Jameela
You know, in that Bollywood they be whitewashing like a too just like them Koreans. Everybody got that. Everybody be brown, baby. Them Indians is Negroes. My God on today they are dark skinned. So how the hell did you find a bitch? How do you keep. That's how, you know, be intentional. How did you keep finding these light ass to be on the screen? And all of you is darker than my daddy.
Mecca
You know, questions that need answers.
Jameela
Y' all got to y' all everybody. Y' all color struck everybody. Is everybody everybody.
Mecca
But you know, in China, their whole thing is it's a sign of who's working outside.
Jameela
Oh, well, yes. And we even be Having all the goddamn babies.
Mecca
That's how you one kid a household
Jameela
that's crazy as fuck from our age.
Mecca
That's why a lot of little girls have been adopted from China. Because they want boys. Yeah, but that's why they got a shortage now. I don't know if you know that.
Jameela
Yeah, like. And the girlies is having their way.
Mecca
Cause it's hella boy. It's like, yeah, actually, I need 10 bands by tomorrow or I'm on to the next.
Jameela
Listen, a lot of countries got a lot of issues, you know, I can talk about America all day, every day.
Mecca
You start hearing other people tea like,
Jameela
I'll never get my foot off of America's neck. American or not, I don't give a fuck. Fuck America. No shade. I beat that bitch down every chance I get. Cause that's, you know, it's like your home team, Bitch you. Damn your ass. My dad cusses the Falcons out every Sunday. That's that favorite team, though. And I'm like, do you like them or what? But then I'm like, damn, that's how I feel about America. I keep whacking that bow, bow, bow.
Mecca
That's how Cowboys fans are. Because them suck. But they're so loyal to being cowboys. It got to be loyal, but them suck.
Jameela
Yeah, but I don't know how y'
Mecca
all still Cowboys fans.
Jameela
The mother country tb. I ain't like, damn, y' all got y'.
Mecca
All. I got a lot going on.
Jameela
I know y' all got hegemony, but what is hegemony? They all the same.
Mecca
I don't even know what that means. Jamila, what are you saying?
Jameela
Like, they all Chinese. What?
Mecca
Okay.
Jameela
Like, okay, so remember the conversation of, oh, my gosh, Japan is so nice. It's so clean. Like, how can they do that? And it's like, because everybody's Japanese, bro. Oh.
Mecca
They don't have, like, racism in a certain way.
Jameela
They have. Now they have classes.
Mecca
That was a big word for Elmo. You taught me something new. Hegemony. That sounds like something you hear in church.
Jameela
That was the right word.
Mecca
And was it homogeneous?
Jameela
Homo is same for sure.
Mecca
Homogeneous.
Jameela
What does hegemony mean? Before I get to sounding stupid, let me see. But I think that's the right word
Mecca
that they would say in church.
Jameela
Hegemocation. Moaning. I think that was the right shit. Hegemony refers to the diamonds. Leadership or predominant influence of one country social group. Okay, I was right.
Mecca
Oh, you was right.
Jameela
I'm a scholar. I am an anthropologist. I keep telling you, I Have a doctorate in anthropology. Dr. Bell. Yes.
Mecca
That's nice. Well, Dr. Bell, what say all that
Jameela
to say airport coming soon. Airport coming soon.
Mecca
Keep your eye out.
Jameela
Hopefully I can be in LA again, because I want to be in the bibelos.
Mecca
I'm we in Melonia. The Bibelos.
Jameela
I'm trying to be in the bibelos right now. LA is my bibelos.
Mecca
Look, they gonna comment how to say it right? Y' all bitches ain't. I'm in Millennial. I don't belos in the Bieber in the chill. Speaking of Bieber, did you see the Coachella performance? He did. Oh, you said debacle.
Jameela
I was gonna say, what part of Coachella is we chatting about? Cause we can talk about all things coach.
Mecca
I mean, coach went real south this year. I just made a video last night. I was like, so real spiel. Is Coachella on his way out? Cause I haven't seen.
Jameela
No, I doubt it. Cause I know they still making bank, but.
Mecca
Oh, obviously. But I'm saying from, like, a social media standpoint, there was a time where it was like, I can't wait to see Coachella. They done dragged. And I'm talking about shit that don't even matter. There was shit that mattered for sure, but they was dragging shit that don't even matter. Like, oh, fuck that bitch. That outfit's ugly.
Jameela
You know, as the Internet does. So with Justin Bieber's performance, I felt two ways about it. Funny enough, I did feel that sense of nostalgia. And I was like, oh, he's just a boy. He's just a boy who started as a young little boy, right? And I could tell that, like, wow, he's healing a little part of himself watching like that. It's, you know. Cause it's hard to get Justin about that bed some days. And so it was like, oh, look at him coming out. It looked like he bathed too.
Mecca
Well, he got up out the. He got up out the bed to cuss Usher out at Beyonce party.
Jameela
Listen, and I still want that. If anybody got that tea.
Mecca
Somebody tell us what happened.
Jameela
Please tell us what the fuck happened. Because Justin looked very.
Mecca
I need to be. And was that an AI picture of Beyonce?
Jameela
Cause here you go eating it up. I'm like that, baby. AI.
Mecca
Well, it's on the screen now.
Jameela
That was AI. Like hell.
Mecca
It's not my fault that AI is growing.
Jameela
That picture is so AI. But it's such. It's so picture.
Mecca
But, you know, he's being real passionate about whatever the hell he's saying. He's saying, you got me fucked up.
Jameela
Ush. Yeah. Look at Beyonce's face. She said, that's exactly what. But it's like, although it's AI. That's exactly what happened.
Mecca
That's how she would look.
Jameela
That's exactly how she would look. But, yeah, but I also, people are not wrong when they were saying, like, this is low effort. A bitch would never be able to get away with this. You're not wrong.
Mecca
You're not. You're not wrong.
Jameela
Like, yes, women have to do a lot more to get credit for shit. To this day, you know, of course, Beyonce shut that shit the fuck down. Coachella. Gotta rename Coachella to be Chella.
Mecca
That shit was amazing. I watched it on YouTube.
Jameela
Even when the bitches try to act like her shit was not that hit, they go, this was better than Beyonce's. Why you keep using Beyonce? Use the bitch before. Use the bitch from last year.
Mecca
Cause who was it? You remember?
Jameela
Use the bitch from last year because she's the standard. Thank you. Really? Who was it last year? I don't know. I don't know who the headliner for Coachella. Like, damn if I know.
Mecca
I really. I really don't. I'm not even.
Jameela
No shade to them. They could have been cool. But I don't. But also, like, I. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't know about Coachella until Beyonce headlined it. Genuinely speaking from California. Oh, Gaga.
Mecca
Oh, well, we should have knew that.
Jameela
Okay.
Mecca
No shade. We like Stephanie. Yeah, she's. She's a nice lady. I like Gaga. I'm a little monster. Gaga's cool. You know Gaga's cool.
Jameela
I fucks with Gaga. What the fuck does she know about cameras? But, yeah, I don't know. You know, that's just what they do. They did the same thing with. Now that I remember, they were saying Gaga's performance was better than Beyonce. And I'm like, gaga wouldn't even say that, so shut up. We have to remember this.
Mecca
Well, I was going to say, a lot of people wouldn't say it's better than B, girl.
Jameela
Could you try again? Ooh.
Mecca
Your CIA agent, they said.
Jameela
What did you say? Nothing.
Mecca
Your CIA agent is a Gaga stand.
Jameela
Damn right. What was that?
Mecca
Shut up. Damn.
Jameela
My bad, sister. My bad, Siri.
Mecca
Literally.
Jameela
But, yeah, also with the Coachella of it all, I'm gonna be messy.
Mecca
It's a great day to be a Dunkin Girl.
Jameela
What do you feel about bran flakes and that Starbucks situation with Coachella?
Mecca
You know what? So I'm not like a I know brand. I'm not gonna sit here and act like I don't know who Bran is. He pops up. He's a cute little key. I never had no issue with him. And I do think two things are happening. Is the Internet preying on your downfall?
Jameela
Oh, absolutely.
Mecca
Shut your light skinned asses up.
Jameela
4.
Mecca
I hate Jameela. Stupid stubby body bitch.
Jameela
Now hold on. We was getting a little excited there.
Mecca
Yes, that's true. But also sometimes play as fuck up. That's also very true. And you can't ignore the fact that his platform has been built on what seems to be inclusivity and like, kind of like, oh, my God, I'm making money. I know I'm a white man. I want y' all to make money too. At least the videos that pop up on my for you page, every time he pops up, he's really being like, we homegirls. This is how much they paying me. This is how much I need to be paying you. That is not necessarily in line with linking up with Starbucks. Now what I did see is that he has actively been drinking Starbucks online this whole time.
Jameela
He done made a article.
Mecca
Oh, the cut.
Jameela
The cut. Ooh, yikes.
Mecca
Well, listen, what I'm saying is they're saying that he, you know how like, you show you're what you're drinking. They were saying that he's been drinking Starbucks this entire time. He's never been a boycott. They also, I don't know how true this is. He's Jewish and never really took a side. Again, don't know how true it is. I'm just going off the TikTok comments like everyone else. But it also did lead me to believe, like, well, maybe if you were paying attention, this wouldn't be as surprising.
Jameela
This is a clear case of white boy delusion. And I'm just a white boy.
Mecca
I'm just a boy.
Jameela
When you are a white person, a lot of things go over your head because you don't have to take extra precautions and you don't have to think about other things. And this is not a speak on his character because I don't know the baby. I actually follow him. I think he's a. He's a good content creator, right? I enjoy his content. I think he's a hoot and a half. But I think that the funny thing is when that video popped up on my for you page, I didn't even read the comments. It popped up on my for you page normally because again, I follow him casually. As I watched it, I said out of my mouth, they finna eat this nigga up. I said, they finna eat him up. And I seen it when it was fresh, and I was like, they finna eat his ass up.
Mecca
Yeah.
Jameela
And not too long after. And then his apology came up on my for you page. I said, they finna eat you up again, friend, because this wasn't a good apology. So here's my thoughts on it. When it comes to selecting brands that you want to affiliate yourself with, you do need to think about all the things that just is what it is, even as a whitey, you know what I mean? Some white people, white tee, hello. You're still gonna get flack. But what's more important is what your brand is. If Alex Earle took a brand trip with Starbucks to Coachella, nobody would give a fuck. Because Alex Earl doesn't stand for anything but smoking cigarettes and shitting on herself and being a popular white girl who's blonde.
Mecca
So who gives a fucking beefing with
Jameela
Alex Cooper, you know what I mean? So for me, it's like nobody would blink because that tracks. Right? It wouldn't even stand out because it would flow right into her shit.
Mecca
Right, Right.
Jameela
Versus somebody who has made their entire brand off of what you said, inclusion and advocacy. That does not go aligned with Starbucks. And the thing here is, it's unfortunate because I get the mindset of. But I need to get. I need this money. I need this watch.
Mecca
So let me ask you this, because a lot of comments are saying, and you too. And you would, too, for a check,
Jameela
and it's, no, I wouldn't. And I have evidence of that.
Mecca
Oop, oop. All right, now. Cause I would say when I read those comments, I said, there's a couple brands I could think of that I just don't feel like it's worth the headache, the heartache.
Jameela
I'll give you an easy example right here, because it's not as. It's not necessarily a moral thing. Um, there was a. A company that reached out to me not too long ago, actually. They offered between five and six thousand dollars. And I was like. At first, I was like. I sent it to Taylor quick. Like, I said, hold on, bitch. I just read. I just read. I'm not doing that. It was for sex toys. Same. And I said, here's the thing. And this is. I'm. I'm not obviously morally against sex toys. I got a couple.
Mecca
Y' all know I love that Rose.
Jameela
Okay, listen. However, my brand is not aligned with promoting sex toys. Within the camera. Hey, go get this. Shake them up. I'm not. That does that now because now what that's doing is downgrading my personal brand for the things that I align myself with and can knock down other potential partners, right? So that's just an easy, clear case of this does not align with me. So I'm not going to take it. Even though, yeah, I could have used that 5 to 6k.
Mecca
That made me feel better because they reached out to me as well. And I, you know, I be making jokes about my roles, but I never put my roles in the camera. You know that in my head I was like, should I stop making them type of jokes that y' all would think that I would.
Jameela
But now if I was like someone like Shan Boodram, who specifically talks about positive sex life, right? And she talks, she even has a book on, you know, sex and things like that. And that is her thing, it would not alarm anybody to see her doing an ad for sex toys, right? Because she talks about pleasure and things like that, but. And not even in like an od raunchy way. And I, and I recognize that it doesn't have to be that way. And so when it comes to things like advocacy, it's even more of a shot because now what comes into question are your own personal morals and values, right? And that is why I get sticky. If a private owned prison reached out to me today and offered me $10 million, I wouldn't take it because that goes against everything I stand for ethically. No, I wouldn't take it. Do I need that 10 million? I mean, yeah, absolutely. But I would not ever do that. And it reminds me of that video, that nigga saying, hundred thousand dollars, I'll sell my soul. And he said, well, that's your character. Oop, now is. Are there now, now, now, that isn't now, now, listen.
Mecca
Only a hundred thousand dollars, though.
Jameela
Listen, that's what he said.
Mecca
That's like. Have you, you watched the Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix? So basically it's based on the. The Poem by Edgar Aleppo. But it's a really short, well done limited series. It's 10 episodes and it's each. Or, sorry, it's eight. It's seven of the deadly sins represented by each child. But the parents. Spoiler alerts. If you haven't watched it. The daddy made a deal with the devil essentially back when he was like our age. She said, you'll be the richest man in the world, yo, whatever, whatever, whatever. But when you die, your whole Bloodline dies everybody. And after they made the deal, it seemed like, oh, we was dreaming. That wasn't real. The place that it happened disappeared. It was like, whatever. But it was always in the back of his head. So he went and was having hella kids, like by different women and stuff. And so when he got. I think he got diagnosed with terminally, like, cancer or something. And so he was so afraid that all his kids were gonna die, and they started dying one by one, and it was like this big thing. Oh. And he owned a pharmaceutical company that was like selling bad drugs, essentially. And so the whole idea is, what is worth selling your soul, fucking up your bloodline. He had a mixed granddaughter. His son went and had a daughter with a black woman. And she was like the only good one in the family. She's about 13 years old. And so when the devil came back, they was like, you even gotta take her. And she was like, even her.
Jameela
Even you.
Mecca
Heaven's daughter.
Jameela
Shout out. Larussa. Man, listen. And here's the thing, also, not boycotting something is not the same as taking funds and outwardly supporting and being a face of a company. Right? Yeah, that's different. I think that, you know, I would be lying if I said I have never gone back to Starbucks. You know, if I'm in the now, Starbucks is not something I frequent, right? And I. Because I know how unethical they are. Not even just necessarily about their stance on Palestine, but union busting.
Mecca
They were.
Jameela
It's a lot of that Starbucks has been. And it's back. It's so. It's just like, baby, they got a. It's. You pick. You really pick the worst one, you know what I'm saying? Like, if we got 10 brands that's all problematic, you gonna go with the most problematic one. That was just dumb. It was just a dumb decision. Versus I'm in the airport in Starbucks right there. I'm get a coffee. Nobody's gonna shame you for that, right? You're not gonna get your ass whipped because you got a coffee on the way, you know, Versus. Hey, guys, I am here representing the big Starbucks. The biggest. The big sb. Yikes. That's but Dunkin'.
Mecca
Y' all call me. Cause I listen. Let me tell you something. We get a bad rap as a community with Dunkin'.
Jameela
Oh, they're mean to you.
Mecca
They don't give a fuck about your coffee.
Jameela
You know, here's the thing about Duncan to build community. Jameela, I'm not mad at Dunkin'. I think the issue With Dunkin' is why does the drink taste different every time I order it?
Mecca
Because y' all are.
Jameela
You're kind of just haven't built the community. Y' all mixing that shit like y' all at the bar. Bitch, use them same ingredients to build the community.
Mecca
With your barista and building community, every interaction is not gonna be good. Remember that. Remember that. But once you've got it.
Jameela
And why do their food taste like bleach? Answer that.
Mecca
Now let me ask you something. Where. What location was the food tasting like bleach?
Jameela
I cannot disclose because it is near my home.
Mecca
Exactly. Have you built the community?
Jameela
But I've gone to other Dunkin's. That's not a location thing. Every time I get food from Duncan,
Mecca
I'm like, avocado toast.
Jameela
Their avocado toast was the worst thing I've ever tried, actually.
Mecca
Oh my God, Jamila.
Jameela
It was disgusting. I don't think. I don't think it was avocado. I think it was an avocado paste with avocado flavor. I was like, this can't be real avocado.
Mecca
I beg to differ.
Jameela
Yeah.
Mecca
We've been going through a rebrand though, with Duncan. I've seen y'. All. I wanna be a part of that. You know they have Sabrina Carpenter.
Jameela
Yes. I, I listen, I'm gonna get me a Dunkin drink every now and again. I. I like Duncan and their app and I like their donuts.
Mecca
Their app system top tier, y'. All.
Jameela
You.
Mecca
You purchase, you will get them points
Jameela
in your shaking this. Because she got that song.
Mecca
Exactly.
Jameela
They don't have a couple people. And they had Megan somebody doing the splits or something.
Mecca
Butterfly from loving hip hop with them.
Jameela
I said they had Megan bouncing her booty on them. Duncan booty.
Mecca
If Amina Butterfly could get a ticket.
Jameela
Who the hell is that?
Mecca
Exactly. Peter Gunn's baby mother from Love and Hip Hop.
Jameela
Oh, my God. Okay.
Mecca
If she could do it, then I could. Most definitely.
Jameela
Charlie, is that that bitch from TikTok? Charlie DeMille?
Mecca
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Duncan coming for the. For the Tiktokers. Let me know something. Cause I. I'm a. I use y' all point system.
Jameela
Speaking of tiktokers and Caucasian, there's now another conversation coming up. Cause it comes up once a quarter at this point. The disparities between black and white creators. Still speaking of the Coachella of it all. And you know, why are there not any black creators being pulled? Like, y' all mad at Brand for taking the collab to Go to Coachella. And I'm thinking we would have never gotten canceled that. Cause we would have never got the chance. We would have never even got that fucking email. We would have never been offered hundreds of thousands of dollars or however much he got paid.
Mecca
Like, wanna know how much the check was?
Jameela
I do too.
Mecca
Outside of that, I really don't think Bran is st. So I know he.
Jameela
I don't think he's stupid. I think he's aloof and.
Mecca
But I. I think he's aloof. But I do think he knew at some level I would not. Maybe not the level that it's at, but I do think he knew at some level it could cause controversy. Just cause like you can't be on the Internet and not know.
Jameela
I think he thought enough time has passed.
Mecca
You do you see what I'm saying? I think he thought it wouldn't be this big of a deal.
Jameela
And I think enough time has passed to where no one's gonna, you know, cut your head off for participating, you know, going to Starbucks. But I do think that in the year of our lord. Yeah. You do need to be careful of taking a brand deal. No pun.
Mecca
I know the check was fat. I'm sure I was. Because after that I seen every video he posts. Oh, I love this. I said, oh, the check was. The check was fat. The check was.
Jameela
Listen. And the thing is sometimes, you know, sometimes you need that check, sometimes you need that watch. But again, here's the thing though. Here's the caveat to that. Here's the caveat to that. If you are going to shake a little bit of their morals to get that check, do not act surprised when the shoe drop.
Mecca
And this my thing. If you gonna be the villain. I love when bitches don't give a fuck. That's low key. Why I really do stand Ariana Grande. That lady steals husbands and boyfriends and don't give a damn.
Jameela
She don't give a fuck. You gotta pick your battles. Cause then you're doing the apologies. Cause then it seems like, like what? What are we doing? Like, you know how things are gonna happen and if you're gonna take it, if you're gonna do it, then just do it. It's not gonna be popular. Okay, so what are you gonna not like not be who you're gonna be?
Mecca
My ass.
Jameela
What are you gonna do? Figure out how you're gonna do it. But all the, like back and forth apology to me is like, it's not doing anything for you, but making it worse because the apology Sucks. And if you're not gonna do a good apology, a thorough one, don't do it at all. I keep trying to. Y' all don't listen to the PR advice anyway. I'm gonna stop giving it. Next time you gotta pay me a retainer.
Mecca
True.
Jameela
Cause I'm doing it for free. You guys don't listen.
Mecca
Well, speaking of PR advice, I got a question for you.
Jameela
How messy are you about to be?
Mecca
What's your PR advice for Jermaine Jackson?
Jameela
In what capacity?
Mecca
Well, several. We got several PR nightmares. I saw someone who is also a Jackson, Stan, on Twitter say, randy need to do something stupid because Jermaine's undoing the years of PR I've done for him. Like 27 year old wife, 92 years old with a toddler.
Jameela

Mecca
The face is not 92. He's 92 years old.
Jameela
He is not 90.
Mecca
Yo, this is. You know what's hella funny on TikTok. That was in my comments. He's not 92. I said these. They said he's 71. I said, so he's 92 with a toddler. 92, 27 year old wife, face freshly pulled back. That I said, y' all are crazy for zooming in on them scars, shoe polish, head.
Jameela
Here's the thing. That's. He doesn't need PR because he's a Jackson. And that's why he's gonna keep everybody who's a Jackson. Stan knows that. And that's why I said, y'. All. That is just Jermaine. I don't know. There's. Y' all are asking us for explanations as if we have them.
Mecca
There are.
Jameela
That is Jermaine Jackson for you. He has always been like that.
Mecca
I want to know who sent my mama my tweet. So backstory. My mom is their age, their peer. Jackson 5 stands. She's been to like 10 to 12 of their concerts growing up. She was a Jermaine girl. And I had said this on Twitter, that Jermaine is a sexy brother. N s were trying to argue with me. No, it's Randy or it's Jackie. I said Jackie was grown. These were a band for teenagers. That's like saying Kevin was a sexy brother for the Jonas Brothers. Kevin was grown. It was Jermaine. That's why he ended up marrying Hazel.
Jameela
I'm not wrong, though. I see where you come from.
Mecca
No, no, no. Jackie's.
Jameela
Jackie is the father. But he was grown than God. Jackie always been fine. He was still kind of kid.
Mecca
He is. He just was too. Not age appropriate for no 15 year old. I say all that to say someone sent my tweet back to my mom and my mom sent me a slew of pictures of Jermaine from, like the 70s. And, like. And you tell them this is how
Jameela
he used to look and stop talking about my man.
Mecca
Stand up for your man. I said, oh, my God. My mom don't never respond to any of my.
Jameela
Imagine Jermaine as your daddy.
Mecca
She always says that. She's. My mom is literally one of them. And if you have a mom who was of that era, she probably says the same thing. Oh, Jermaine was supposed to be your daddy. When I said that, people in my comments were like, my brother's named after Jermaine. My. My mom dated my dad because she reminded her of Jermaine. Like, Jermaine Jackson really was him.
Jameela
And he was the first to, you know, have a standout moment because he was kind of the older one. And so before, of course, Michael always saying, not really always saying lead. Jermaine had his leads as well, right? But Jermaine, his goal. And this is why Jermaine be hating sometimes. Jermaine wanted to have his own solo career blossom, and he had a decent solo career. Jermaine, here's the thing. My Jackson Standoms know when it came to the Jackson 5, whenever Jermaine had his solos or his moments, he did his big one. Jermaine had a beautiful voice, great voice, great tenor voice, but it was just not Michael. Michael did something that was inconceivable. Michael said, he wrote a letter and said, listen, I am going to change my name to mj. I am going to completely change myself. I am going to reinvent myself. I am going to have a new look, a new sound, and I am going to be the biggest superhero, the biggest actor in the world, the biggest everything. And he did just that. Mike Jack, the movie is coming out. Put him on the screen.
Mecca
I've been looking at Jamila this morning,
Jameela
but look at that one that's in the middle.
Mecca
That one that's one in the middle.
Jameela
No, to the right. Two times. That picture. He looks so cute right there.
Mecca
And that top one is one of the ones my mom sent me. With the Afro. No, that one Cutie, she sent that to me. She said, that's my husband.
Jameela
All the Jacksons are so cute.
Mecca
Fun fact. All of the Jackson kids have a billboard.
Jameela
They absolutely do.
Mecca
All nine of them. Even Tito. Even the Randy, Marlon. And that's solo. That's not including the things that they've done together. And that is based on Katherine's womb. Because that outside baby Jo have. Don't have no hits. She don't have no hits. Listen, you know Katherine related to Stevie Wonder.
Jameela
Mm, exactly.
Mecca
That's Katherine bloodline. Mm.
Jameela
Listen, it. Y' all already know how I feel about the jacket.
Mecca
Look at that. Look at that one down there with the shoe polish. And he drew his eyebrows on.
Jameela
He's so silly. Like, this is.
Mecca
He look like Kyle J.
Jameela
This has been Jermaine's look for the past 25, 30 years. Like, once he, when he found this look, he said, oh, baby, this is my look.
Mecca
Beat him up.
Jameela
This is my look. And I'm never changing. And you know what?
Mecca
He did that baby hair. Oh, for sure. He slicked that baby hair.
Jameela
He did like boosie do everybody get the boosie fade. We all get the Jermaine slick.
Mecca
But I'm really excited to see the movie.
Jameela
I am too. I can't wait. I think, I think it's gonna be really good. Of course, like, having, you know, I don't wanna get emotional. Having his nephew play him to me
Mecca
is like 10 out of 10.
Jameela
Oh, my God. It just makes it so much better, you know, And I'm so excited for the potential to be able to see something in the movie that we haven't seen before. Because, of course, when Jackson's the American Dream came out, it only, you know, it stopped at a certain point because that shit came out in the early 90s. So, you know, they' much that hasn't been shown on camera. So I'm really excited about being able to see that part. You know, the things that we haven't gotten to see in that 90s era was oh, so delicious. Especially when he started working with Teddy Riley for the Dangerous album. I, I, I, I believe the movie is going to stop around 93. I'm not sure, but from what I've been picking up, they that's still a lot. Separating the movies into two.
Mecca
Oh, that was still 20 years into his career in 93.
Jameela
So I'm I'm. I'm just really excited to.
Mecca
To.
Jameela
To relive it and. And just. You know what I'm saying? Listen, she said, I'm ready living like she was there. I was there.
Mecca
93. Wasn't she born?
Jameela
I was there, okay? I was there spiritually, you know, I've been here before. That's what. That's what all my. My people said about me.
Mecca
That baby's been here before that baby.
Jameela
I would. That. That's. Listen, I am that baby. When they say now, that baby didn't been here before. Yes, my first concert was the Temptations.
Mecca
Well, that's true.
Jameela
A lot of young kids these days. They wanted to see their Jonas Brothers and whatnot. No, baby, take me to see the Temptations.
Mecca
Jonas Brothers was.
Jameela
Had hits, though, you know, I. I just. I've always been a little old lady. I don't said I've been to the year 3000. That was a hit. I ain't gonna lie. They ate that one up.
Mecca
Not much has changed, but they live underwater.
Jameela
They was real close to the. To real close. Where we looking? And I'm not gonna lie, when they said that baby had diabetes, I thought he on his way out.
Mecca
Let me tell you. So I was a Nick girl. He would know everything about diabetes. Because, mind you, my grandmother had diabetes. I didn't give a damn.
Jameela
She had it. When they said. They said, no, no, no, guys, it's type one. I said, terminal. I didn't know what the fuck. I'm like, oh, my God. Diabetes. Then they used to have, like, the little in between commercials.
Mecca
I'm like, I have to do my insulin. Prick. Nick was teaching us something.
Jameela
I'm like, oh, my God.
Mecca
Oh, my goodness.
Jameela
And then I used to want to have diabetes, too, Jameela. There was this girl in my high school who had diabetes, and, bro, she used to be able to have snacks in class.
Mecca
I was doing that regardless.
Jameela
Nah, we used to get in trouble for, like, having snacks and shit. And I'm like, bro, if I had. But if I had diabetes, I would have snacks. And it was just like, yeah, all right, well, now I want the beanies.
Mecca
One thing about being a big kid is that I didn't give a damn about them rules that we always bringing. I used to. I remember I used to put, like. They serve burritos at lunchtime, and I'll put them in my pocket
Jameela
on some Napoleon Dynamite shit and save them for after school.
Mecca
And then this is the other funny part, because I'm such a personable and Fun lady. I was actually friends with the popular girls. That's what you need to know about me. I actually was friends with the popular black girls in high school. They all thought I was funny. I got up with them, and they would, you know, dating and hanging out with the basketball players, but I was like, their weird, funny friend. So I remember one day, we were standing in front. We were standing in a circle after school, waiting for the basketball players to go to basketball practice. We get in the. I just pulled one of them burritos from lunchtime out of my pocket. And I remember this nigga Nakia was like, nigga, did you just pull a burrito out your pocket? And I was like, yeah, I'm hungry.
Jameela
A burrito out your pocket?
Mecca
Yeah, burrito out my pocket. Burrito out my pocket. I wonder what he's doing, where he's at. It was good, too. The cheese had really melted with your body heat.
Jameela
That's how it kept it warm.
Mecca
It kept it warm.
Jameela
You just had it tucked and folded up in there. I was waiting.
Mecca
Cause I knew. I knew after school was to kick it.
Jameela
I knew.
Mecca
And you know one thing, and my mama wasn't gonna come pick me up right away. I needed me a little snack.
Jameela
Well, okay.
Mecca
Jamila don't eat, y'.
Jameela
All.
Mecca
That's what you need.
Jameela
I literally eat, bro.
Mecca
She don't eat.
Jameela
I do.
Mecca
She don't eat. Jamila will take two bites and be
Jameela
like, bro, I get. I get nauseous. No, no, no. I have stomach issues, bro. I get nauseous very easily.
Mecca
Jamila buy full course meals, take two bites and be like, well, that's enough.
Jameela
Well, I don't know what to tell you. Like, I literally. I'll get nauseous if I keep. Like, that makes me nauseous. I don't know what it is. Like, I. I get nauseous very easily. Things will make me very, like, sick and weird, like. And I just don't. I don't play with. I just listen to my body, bro, because I will get sick like nobody's business. I'm the sickliest ever.
Mecca
Like, I was hungry.
Jameela
I be. I. I'm greedy as though. Like, trust me, I am greedy as hell. I be. I swear, I'm all. And. And maybe that's why I'm always hungry, because I can never, like, like, finish. And I'm like, bro, like, I can't. I physically cannot finish this three minutes later. And something I really cannot stand is when I'm hungry and nobody else is. That happened last night. We Had. Went out, had a. A. A freaking business dinner. And I get that. They're like, oh, I. I'm just gonna. I'm gonna get a salad. I'm like, bitch, please. Hey, bring me that menu.
Mecca
I'm like, that's like, that's how I felt the night when we went out with Justin to. Then Typhoon, then Tofu, then Typhoon. Shout out to them, food as fuck. But that's.
Jameela
Fuck it. I can't wait to go back and get that soup.
Mecca
And let me tell you, when I went out with Raheem, that.
Jameela
And you see, I got two things.
Mecca
No greedy cheese, baby.
Jameela
I threw down.
Mecca
I said, and my friend Raheem Shabazz paying, bring me a couple.
Jameela
I said, let me get them dumplings. And this soup, I don't give a fuck.
Mecca
And I'm hung.
Jameela
And then when I'm like, in my. And there's different types of hunger for me, there's like, there's stage one hunger, where it's like, I could eat. You know what I'm saying? I could get a little snack just to hold me over. Then there's like stage two, which is prime time hunger. That's the best time to eat for me. Stage two, hungry. It's like, I'm hungry. And not only am I hungry, I. I could eat anything. That's best time for me, like, and that's when I get real greedy. I want some of this, I want some of that. I want everything. I love eating at that point. Stage three, hunger. I damn near can't eat because I will throw up. I don't know what it is, but that's just how my body, like, it makes me sick.
Mecca
That's actually common when you're so hungry that you can't eat. That's why you're actually not supposed to let yourself get that hungry.
Jameela
And that's what happened when we was at that ass restaurant and I ordered that. Now, it was my fault, but still, I just feel like. Like it should have been very big. And said, we're gonna have big ass fucking mushrooms in this pasta. Cause I wouldn't have ordered it. Everyone knows I'm fucking terrified of mushrooms.
Mecca
Oh, my God. And you see, I cleared that plate.
Jameela
I said, hey, I can't do this. And then on top of that, but, like, beyond that, I don't think I would've liked it because this is a short rib pasta. Why is my short rib tough and gray?
Mecca
I was expecting it to still be in, like, rib form with the bottom.
Jameela
I thought it was gonna be like, kind of chopped in. Cause I've ordered steak pasta before, and they kind of, like, usually break it up.
Mecca
I've never had steak pasta before.
Jameela
It's div. Mine. I'm really a state girl.
Mecca
I am a state girl, but I'm not a pasta girl.
Jameela
What the.
Mecca
I have. I have.
Jameela
I am pasta.
Mecca
I'm a rice. I'm a rice. Like, I like white rice.
Jameela
I like any. I'm a starch ass.
Mecca
One thing about it, I'm actually my mother.
Jameela
I'm gonna go starch. I'm gonna go potato. I'm gonna go rice. I'm gonna go pasta. I'm gonna go starch. And don't give me no ass brown rice. I want the white. Yeah, I want that, Jasmine.
Mecca
This is my thing. How is brown on white rice all of a sudden unhealthy when niggas been for thousands and thousands of years.
Jameela
Don't let them. Don't let. That's white man's paperwork.
Mecca
That's white man shit.
Jameela
White people will lie to you talking
Mecca
about it make you fat. Asians don't be fat.
Jameela
And then the bitches who tell you it's making this fat. Bitch, you're anorexic. You've never.
Mecca
You don't have to eat.
Jameela
Anything's never gonna be big anyway.
Mecca
What are we talking about? Why would you. I'm not listening to you.
Jameela
See, I don't. You got to think about who you listening to. This don't even make no fucking sense. I have never seen a big Asian.
Mecca
My best friend growing up was Chinese. When I say say rice, every meal.
Jameela
Every meal. Breakfast, lunch, and then a white. And they don't listen. They rice be overly starchy and sticky as shit.
Mecca
Cause they gotta. They gotta put it in with the
Jameela
seaweed and make the sushi. It got to get sopped up with they sauces out my face.
Mecca
I'm not listening to that.
Jameela
I do all the rice.
Mecca
Give me that.
Jameela
I even do basmati rice.
Mecca
Oh, basmati is good.
Jameela
Even though it be a little too loose for me. Rice be moving and jumping everywhere off the plate. Bitch, stay where I put you. That be the part I hear about that basmati rice just moving everywhere. Dancing all on the fucking plane.
Mecca
Raise you all the way over there.
Jameela
Bitch, get back. Get back over here. I feel like I'd be like, damn, I'm crying shits.
Mecca
Exactly.
Jameela
It be good as hell, though. I like a little yellow rice. I like dirty rice.
Mecca
Any type of rice I'm gonna eat, except for brown.
Jameela
Yeah, I don't fuck with. And I feel like brown rice don't ever get done.
Mecca
Okay? So when I was doing the Daniel
Jameela
fast, which I won't do, but continue.
Mecca
Cause it got a little grit.
Jameela
Yeah. Everything you posted, I was like, nah, I don't want that.
Mecca
She said, nah, me and my friends hate Jesus. Not doing that.
Jameela
I'm not doing that.
Mecca
What I did, though.
Jameela
Jesus did not say do that, bro. Like, that is not what Jesus meant, bro. Like, y' all n be mad. Jesus did not say, you don't like brown rhyme, bro. Like, Jesus ain't never had no crab leg.
Mecca
I wasn't eating crab.
Jameela
You couldn't eat no seafood. But that's what I'm saying. Like, Jesus. They was in an area where they didn't have. They wasn't busting down crab legs.
Mecca
They were fishermen.
Jameela
They was not busting down crab legs.
Mecca
You don't know that.
Jameela
They was busting down fucking shroud and shit.
Mecca
They had shrimp. Cause in the Bible, it says you can't eat shrimp or something.
Jameela
And Jesus didn't say that either. See how they be making shit? Listen, them conquistadors got y' all minds. Yeah.
Mecca
You're sinning every time you do a seafood boil.
Jameela
Technically, yeah, my ass.
Mecca
Now you're picking and choosing all sin.
Jameela
Oh, I picks and choose.
Mecca
All sin is the same in the eyes of God. Picks and choose.
Jameela
And that's why the Christians don't like me.
Mecca
I can eat this seafood boil, but I can't be gay.
Jameela
I picks and choose. I just feel like I know the Lord, and the Lord know me.
Mecca
He knows my heart.
Jameela
And I'm like, I think I know God. He would not. He would not approve of that.
Mecca
I mean, I will say I was overcooking the rice, the brown rice in the rice cooker. And it made a little. I mixed it with some beans, though. I wouldn't do that again, though. I'm not. I'm not saying that's. That's what I liked. I'm saying that's what I was doing. That was my test from God, okay? I enjoyed my little Daniel fast. The Internet was mad at me. Oh, you stupid bitch.
Jameela
You ain't supposed to be talking about the Daniel fast. I said, y' all make up new rules every time. This why I gotta be stupid. Christians love making up new rules of everything. Like, what are you talking about? I've always heard of the Daniel fast. Cause people always talk about it. Because it's. It's. That's the point.
Mecca
It's because they said the fast supposed to be intimate.
Jameela
Ah, shut the hell up. You know what's supposed to be intimate? Your thoughts. Shut the fuck up. God damn. Like, I'm so tired of everyone's thoughts. Like, everybody should not give.
Mecca
You know when y' all pissed me off? When y' all said y' all letting Kev on stage represent Christianity. Now, hold on.
Jameela
And one thing about it, that should be the nigga y' all let represent Christianity.
Mecca
And mind you, he sat on our couch, unhinged, immoral, and said, he is not a Christian comedian. He is a comedian who happens to be Christian, okay? And when I repeated it, he said, thank you. Hello. I know, because I was listening.
Jameela
And that's actually. And here's my beat. That is the type of Christian y' all need to be trying to be.
Mecca
Well, hell, okay. That's what I said.
Jameela
I'm my whole sinful self in front of Kev. You know what? I never felt judged, okay?
Mecca
And you know what? I also like that Kev does. When the conversation be going too left, he be like, all right, y', all, I'm finna go the other way.
Jameela
Okay?
Mecca
All right.
Jameela
Once we get to being heathens, he said, melissa, Melissa, Melissa, Let me find my. Let me find my wife. But also, here's what. Y' all don't even know. Y' all be thinking that Kev is so Christian. And he is, but that don't mean he's not fun. Kev was right there, you know, in our heaving conversation, giggling and cackling. Cause we're funny.
Mecca
And that's what I'm saying. Kev is the exact type right. Of Christian to me. Because he gonna giggle and cackle, and then when he goes a little too far, he gonna. All right. He gonna silently disappear. Cause you know how a lot of y' all like to be like, well, this ain't Christ. Like, I got to make an exit.
Jameela
Kev gonna sit there, and he not gonna tell us to shut the hell up.
Mecca
No, he not.
Jameela
He just gonna. While we talking about pussy popping.
Mecca
Listen, sometimes on a hand.
Jameela
Hand ain't got nothing.
Mecca
This what Kev was doing the whole. The whole time.
Jameela
Let me just act like I don't hear what the these is talking about. Listen, we had a good time. But no, for real, y' all, actually, y' all calling Kev lukewarm All you want to, y'.
Mecca
All.
Jameela
Maybe y' all need to be lukewarm then. Y' all ever thought about that?
Mecca
Oh, no. I think behind the scenes now. Let me go ahead and Say this because you know my people churchy. And one thing church people do like is gossip. Regardless of if you want to admit it or not, there are so many people in this industry, whether it be gospel singers, preachers, you know, when you work with people, musicians that have a certain type of representation, reputation that precedes them. Take your time. Thank you. That a reputation that precedes them. And it's not always positive. Let me tell you something about that man, Kevin Stage.
Jameela
That reputation.
Mecca
Reputation is real. It's real. It's squeaky clean. He pays his folks, he feeds his folks, he treats them with respect. And that cannot be said for all of your favorite gospel singers, your favorite preachers, your favorite Christians, celebrities, influencers. Okay? That man carries a Christ like spirit with him. The light shines when he walks in a room. Shout out to Miss Melissa.
Jameela
Amen.
Mecca
Amen.
Jameela
Amen. Amen. Yes. Let's spin it.
Mecca
That was good. That was good.
Jameela
I got two chat. Ooh.
Mecca
Yes. All right, this is our segment. Spin it. It's where you send Jameela and I your low down, nasty gutter snipe situations for us to give you some advice and a bit of a PR spin. Now keep in mind, Jameela and I are not PR professionals. We just studied communications in undergrad. Do not forget to send your situations to nhingedandemoralpodmail.com Remember, I almost had it. I was going remember to include your age, your genders, your race, your political affiliations. If you are a man, we do need your height. What's something else we should start including? Because I feel like, I feel like. Oh, let us know what state you live in.
Jameela
Because I do be feeling like the cities whenever the proximity.
Mecca
Yeah, the cities and the states matter because of, you know, I'm a little bit well traveled around the US I be getting it. So, Jameela, what do we have this week?
Jameela
I haven't really been to that many
Mecca
states now that I think about it. Really? I feel like if you look at our analytics and where a majority of our followers and listeners are though, it's Atlanta, Houston, New York, dmv, Chicago, Florida.
Jameela
I've never been to Chicago, so I've been to. Of course. So Texas, Georgia, Alabama, New York, California, Arizona for a blink.
Mecca
That's it.
Jameela
Oh, in Virginia and D.C. yeah.
Mecca
So you have a handle.
Jameela
Okay.
Mecca
Except for Chicago.
Jameela
Yeah.
Mecca
So you good?
Jameela
Okay. Yeah. I have really bad eyesight.
Mecca
Cause girl, I got my glasses on, I can't even see that.
Jameela
I thought I was. Okay, let's see. I Think I can. Okay. There you go.
Mecca
Yeah. Okay.
Jameela
All right, let's see how we gonna do make it.
Mecca
She gonna be reading from a monitor this time, y'.
Jameela
All.
Mecca
Let's get it. All right, let's see.
Jameela
Let's see how many stutters I have. Hey, Megan and Jamila. First I wanna say I look forward to every single episode y' all drop and listen to. And I listen to them on my walk to class. Y' all are the big sisters I never had.
Mecca
Thank you.
Jameela
Also, apologies, this is gonna be a tad bit lengthy. Y' all say that every goddamn time. Y' all love to talk, but I need some perspective with some friendship things. Both me and my friend Maddy are 21 and black for reference, following the rules. Maddy isn't her real name, so y' all can use it. Lol. Madi and I have been roommates and the bestest of friends throughout college. But last year when I got into a fast paced relationship, things got rocky. We began getting into heated conversations with paragraphs back and forth over things I've truly, truthfully don't think were warranted. Fast forward to this year. I started spending hella nights with my significant other, but still would visit the room I shared with Maddie and would make an effort to spend time with her since I really. Since I really wasn't living there and didn't want her to feel left out. Maddie became more and more distant and I could. And what? And cold. And I didn't. What? Okay. Uh huh. She got more distant and cold and I don't kiss ass, so I didn't press it. I figured she would come to me and if she would come in, she felt some type of way about her friendship. It got to a point where I got uncomfortable coming to our room because. Wait, what was that last one? Go back.
Mecca
She felt ostracized.
Jameela
She felt ostracized by her and our mutual friends when they would go out and I would see it on socials. We had multiple conversations within the past month and within the recent, the most recent one, I explicitly outlined how I feel. How I felt like it was I was intentionally being pushed out because of whatever mysterious issue there was. And Maddie basically was offended that I believe she would act out out of anything but kindness and that she wasn't intentionally icing me out. We also became to the. We also came to the conclusion that we should both communicate more when we feel something is off. And I communicated that I had no root issue in until I was getting weird energy. I give people the benefit of the doubt A lot. So after we got everything off our chest and she said there was no issue, I took it at face value and we both talked about missing each other and rebuilding things. So I'm thinking shit is cool. Then I continued to see large outings being had right after that combo. I personally feel like they were all low stakes environments that we could have easily. We could have eased back into things. And even if she didn't want to extend an invite, she could have addressed it and cleared the air since we had just talked about that exact thing. I miss my friend, but I can't help but feel like this shit is odd. With that I'm stuck between speaking my piece once again or just calling the friendship quits. What are your thoughts?
Mecca
This is so college.
Jameela
I was gonna say this is the most college ass story.
Mecca
What was. What is bum baby's name?
Jameela
I don't think she gave us a name. We can. The friend name was Maddie. Maddie. Let's give her Rebecca.
Mecca
Okay, Rebecca. This is so funny. Cause I feel like we were in this exact situation. The thing is, when you start college with your besties for the resties, and it's girl power and you're all together all the time, and then one of you goes and gets a fella who has an apartment. And now all of a sudden you're no longer around, your friends are wondering where you're at, and every time they text you, you're like, I'm with my fella. I know to you, it might not seem like you were doing anything wrong, and technically you were not. And it might not even seem like you were spending as much time with that fella as you actually were. I'm speaking from experience. To you, it might have seemed like it was just a couple nights a week. And bitch, you was over there for a month straight and your friends had no idea where you was at. And you know, now you're no longer getting included in the homegirl outings. That's something that. It's not a bad thing. But the start of this is absolutely on you.
Jameela
Unfortunately.
Mecca
Unfortunately, it is my sis. You, you gotta take some responsibility. And what happens in these situations is your friend group has no choice really but to adjust without you. Because they can't really come between you and the boy. It's your first time having a nice apartment.
Jameela
I wanna be with my nigga.
Mecca
But your homegirl still gotta do stuff. They still gotta go hang out. So they're gonna start to make plans. Now. Let's say things with this boy go awry. Like they might have. I can't remember. They say it went awry?
Jameela
I don't think so. Okay, she still like that nigga.
Mecca
Okay, she's still with that nigga. But now you're like, oh, my God, My friends aren't hanging out with me. Y' all are doing things without me. At the very beginning, what I know your friends actually did was invite you to stuff, and you dubbed them. And they got to the point where
Jameela
they said, I'm hanging out with Jay tonight, y', all I'm hanging out with.
Mecca
And that'll be the last time you dub us for Jay. So you okay, bitch? So now. So the thing is, I know it seems petty. I know you're tired, but you actually do have to do the work to show up back for your friends and say, hey, y', all, I'm present. I would suggest if they're still doing outings without you, maybe you plan an outing for the girls. Maybe you take the initiative and say, hey, I'm just. Because when I was in this situation and I. And I told someone who was older than me, and they said exactly what I'm saying to you, well, bitch, this one might be on you. You do have to say, hey, girls, let's come to my house. Let's do a movie night so that we slowly get back into the routine of me being included in things. And then you will have to be mindful of dubbing your friends for your nigga.
Jameela
You do.
Mecca
That's something. And I think this is a good lesson to learn early in life. Because when you get older, especially with the marriage and the kids, you experience at a level that's even worse than this. Bitches will completely cut you off, because bitches will literally be like, well, I'm married now, okay?
Jameela
And don't let the nigga be trash and be like, my. My husband said I can't have friends.
Mecca
I can't have single friends. Like, too much.
Jameela
I can't hang out with you guys because he's single.
Mecca
It's like, it's best that you learn how to navigate these situations now, at this age, when, like you said, it's super low. Stand. Cause I promise you, you ain't gonna be with this nigga next year. Jay won't. He won't give.
Jameela
You won't be with this nigga the next month. A college nigga, please. Them is the most rotating ass niggas. My God. Girl, listen. And we gonna hold your hand with you. Cause you. I know you wrote this from the perspective of why they.
Mecca
Why Are they being mean to me?
Jameela
And we gonna have to shake you up and let you know it's you.
Mecca
It's you. It's you, it's you.
Jameela
Unfortunately. And the thing is, it's not. Not. It's not done. Like, you're not far gone. You're not, like, out of the loo, girl.
Mecca
You said you still live with her.
Jameela
Yeah. Like, what the hell? Have you ever thought about telling a come over? Have you ever thought about incorporating A into the fun? If it's appropriate. Not if it's a girl's night.
Mecca
Trying.
Jameela
Not if it's a girl, but if, like. Yeah. No, not if it's like a girl thing, but, like, if y' all are starting to get cool, like. And if he's a cool nigga, you gotta know your nigga. Some niggas ain't cool for the crew. You know what I'm saying? But some niggas, like, oh, like, he cool. People, like, I've had niggas where it's like. Like he could come along. Cause, like, he cool and he fun. And, like, everybody has a good time, right? And then it's like, of course everybody's around. You have to learn how to balance all those things. That's just a part of adulthood. Right?
Mecca
Right.
Jameela
Of course. There are moments where it's just. It's just me and Jay. Okay? It's just me and Chris. It's just me and Malik. Right? Cool. But then there's also, like, two of the three niggas.
Mecca
I don't fuck with names.
Jameela
Damn. Them all your niggas. Them is just. I just like, those are, like. Them is nigga names. J, Jalen, Chris, Malik, and I love a nigga. I love a N. Them is. You know what I'm saying? This your crew. There's gonna be times where it's just gonna be you and your homegirls, you and your friends. Right? Just them. Then there's times where you can do a little blendy blend. Then there's times where you're just gonna be you. Right. Sometimes it's just time for your family. You need to learn how to compartmentalize all of your social groups and figure out how to give everybody attention. Because being a good friend or having good friends is also about being a good friend. Right? And so. And I know you said there was an outing right after y' all had the conversation. Has it ever occurred to you that maybe I was planned before y' all had the conversation when you were still in your. I love my nigga so Much back.
Mecca
Yeah, right?
Jameela
And I don't know, are y' all opposed to, like, crashing sets? Like, one thing about me, if I know that my friends are out, like, I just be like, where y' all at? Like, you never thought about doing that? Like, that's okay, too. Especially if, like, they're really good homegirls and it's somewhere that's not like that tea. Like, say you see their.
Mecca
In the cab.
Jameela
Yeah, right. Like, where y' all at? Like, I'm pulling up or something like that. Exactly. Then it could be like, okay is coming around. When you first. When it's that fresh phase, you get ghosts and y' all act a little stupid. It's okay. Everybody has done it. Everybody has done it. But then you get to being like, okay, I can't alienate my friends. And you can't be mad that. Be that people are not including you when you're excluding yourself.
Mecca
And the thing is, the don't never alienate themselves from their child. They don't never do that.
Jameela
They never. Boys never have this. Boys don't ever like, bro, we. You're just always with her, bro. Give us. Give us more. They don't give a. They don't even give a fuck. They ain't see the nigga in a month. I don't even give a damn.
Mecca
Damn.
Jameela
Where you been? Where you been? Like, girls make everything a thing. And, like, I. I think that that's. I. I like that about us. Right? I love being a girl. I love girlhood. Right? Yeah. We are overly dramatic. Yes, we do take everything to offense, but that's a part of girlhood, and a part of girlhood is. Yeah, my friend might be being so dramatic right now, but it's a part of me and. And my friendship. To reconcile that as well is a. Is a part of our culture. It's okay. Like having. Having girl chats and lemon squeezes. That's just a part of us. We wouldn't even be girlies if we didn't have a good old sit down. Like, hey, when you said that, I totally got offended. I know you didn't mean it. And we love a good disclaimer. We love the disclaimer. I don't. I know you don't mean it, but when you went to the caf without me, I felt exclusive.
Mecca
Jameela used to stay having to get a sit down in the friend group when we was in college child. So I just wanna let you guys know, Jameela, who sat me down, we're not the same. Because Jameela has a dad.
Jameela
No, no, no, no. They didn't sit me down. They sat y' all down. I was excluded from the conversation altogether. I didn't find out. I'm like, well, hey, where's everybody at?
Mecca
Hello. Jameela's way too close to her dad. She's not like the rest of us. So to this day, Jameela's changing you.
Jameela
That was the wildest thing I've ever experienced in my life. I didn't think me liking my father was ever going to be.
Mecca
It truly was just a trigger because I was trying to.
Jameela
I truly felt bad, and I was not a thing. I felt so bad because I wanted to. Like, I'm like, I think you're a cool girl. Like, I'm having such a good time.
Mecca
I like how Jamila was the source of every sit down for like an entire semester, y'.
Jameela
All. I'm like, hey.
Mecca
And I'm like, what's going on, guys? You know what's crazy is, like, when you get grown, even, like, even though in college you're in your 20s, but, like, you get past that and you're like, that came from a different place. That had actually nothing to do with me.
Jameela
I felt it then. I'm like, this don't even make sense.
Mecca
No, no, it doesn't make sense.
Jameela
Cause how you mad that I got
Mecca
my dad, but then when you contextually, when it's like, that was someone who was actively still trying to pursue relationship and it wasn't being reciprocated.
Jameela
Like.
Mecca
Like that was from such a place of hurt and it was not personal at all.
Jameela
It was.
Mecca
It was triggering the way your dad called you. It was like.
Jameela
And I think.
Mecca
And it's not funny.
Jameela
It's like really, like, triggering. And I do this often and it's triggered other people where I'll just be like, my daddy said or, yo, I
Mecca
did that on the Internet one time, and that was one of the. One of. Not one of the first times, but, like, it was one of the first times my shit went past TikTok and made us a Twitter. When I. When we. I needed to move when we went to Texas and the boys I were talking to at the time, no one came through. So I called my dad and my dad sent me the money. And then I said. And I stopped talking to all three of them niggas. Niggas were so mad at me. Like, I'm sorry. Should I'm. First of all, I'm 24 years old. Should I not be able to call my dad who loves me so much for things.
Jameela
As in 24 today.
Mecca
As in 24.
Jameela
I didn't know if you were gonna try to do one of those.
Mecca
Oh, I'm 24.
Jameela
I was like, bitch, please. Who are. Who are you? No, when I was 24. At the time.
Mecca
At the time.
Jameela
At the time.
Mecca
At the time I was 24.
Jameela
Yeah, that. That happened.
Mecca
And I feel like before, like, it's
Jameela
happened in person, too. And it's like, hey, I recognize that everyone has different. And now I will say there is an appropriate time to, like, praise your lifestyle, right? Like, if somebody is complaining to me about how their dad is this and that, I'm not gonna be like, I love my dad. I'm not gonna. Obviously, that's dickhead, right? But if I'm just. I'm just expressing my life and I don't. But it's more so, like, my dad talks a lot and, you know, like, I don't know, like, my dad really do be having a phrase. And I'm like, yeah, like, this reminds me of this time my dad said, not like, I do that often, like, just in general conversation. And that does trigger people who doesn't. Who don't have a good relationship with their dad. And I'm like, even with.
Mecca
Even with the moms.
Jameela
Well, I don't know what to tell you on that.
Mecca
The moms, I mean, I've made videos and they'll be like, well, that's. Everyone has a good mom. I. Oh, my God. Yeah, I never said everyone had a good mom. I'm talking about mama. I'm talking about my dad.
Jameela
I remember this conversation was coming up when I don't remember who it was. It was some celebrity and it was just like, bro, my family expects now that I'm a millionaire. Whatever. I think it was Chris Tucker, actually. It was like, for me to send out, and I'm like, yeah, if my sister became a millionaire, yeah, I do expect some change.
Mecca
Nigga, you see how my family moved into my house? I don't give a fuck.
Jameela
Yeah, I do.
Mecca
Listen, but I also. I made sure to say this part too. I have the parents. Although my parents are not rich, my parents will help me and my brother in whatever ways they can.
Jameela
It might still on my family phone plan.
Mecca
Hello. You see what I'm saying? Like, it might like, no, my parents are not millionaires. No, they can't bust me down 50 bands, like, right now. But if I needed something, my parents are going to do what they can to help me. And I feel like that's the thing with. When we talk about this conversation. If you have a family like that, then, yes, if I'm a millionaire, I have no problem helping my family. Because whether or not I was a millionaire or not, I was going to help y'.
Jameela
All.
Mecca
Y' all were going to help me. I think that people. And it really comes down to, like, when you go into college and realizing, like, not everyone was raised like you, that shit is a wake up call. Like, and. And I mean at all fronts. Like, in terms of if you're raised with manners, if you're raised with strict parents, if your parents like you or not, you get grown and realize people's parents really don't like them, don't fuck with them, drop them off somewhere. Like, I didn't have them type of parents. Like, I was always with my parents
Jameela
when they was saying on Twitter, yeah, my mama said, find your way back home.
Mecca
Now, mind you, the thing is, my mom would say the same thing. But if push came to shove, if I couldn't find a way back home, come get me, she would have an attitude.
Jameela
Let's not even talk about the safety.
Mecca
You know what? Also, what do you mean your parents
Jameela
wouldn't pick you up?
Mecca
Remember when they were saying at the cookout or, like, kids weren't allowed to
Jameela
eat the good food? Bro, that conversation, fat ass family, baby,
Mecca
I've been cracking crab legs since I was five years old.
Jameela
Like, what are you talking about?
Mecca
You can't have no ribs.
Jameela
You can't handle ribs. Shit, me, my dad is like, daddy, give me ribs.
Mecca
Mind you, my dad and I want the big link. Darrington was a picky eater growing up and would only eat, like, kid food. My dad used to get so mad that he didn't want a rib.
Jameela
Yeah.
Mecca
Like, the fact that Darrington only wanted McDonald's juice to piss my dad, that ain't even real food, nigga.
Jameela
Like, bro, that shit. When I seen that I was cracking, I said y' all wasn't allowed to eat ribs.
Mecca
Y' all parents sound so mean.
Jameela
What the fuck? And, bro, black people make up the dumbest fucking rules sometimes. Like, it's just food.
Mecca
It's a rib. But then I also didn't come from the type of family where food was, like, we would get in trouble if we tried to. Like, I definitely had the type of house where you came in. You welcome to whatever in here if you in the house. And our rules with the, like, let's say I go out somewhere and I bring my plate. If the plate not gone in 24 hours. It's free game. Cause it's like, clearly you not that worried about it. So if someone in here is hungry, they could have it. My mom did not play that shit. Like, if she bought, like, snacks or chips or something, and it was like, my chips. Darrington could still have some.
Jameela
Yeah. We would fight about that still. But, like.
Mecca
Yeah, no, no, no, no. You still fight about that.
Jameela
You don't even like those.
Mecca
Why would you. You know, that was mine. But it was like, the reason you could. We knew he wasn't gonna get no backup from mom type shit. It was like, this is a we beefing between ourselves.
Jameela
Yeah. Like, people don't share.
Mecca
They don't.
Jameela
And I too. I'm not really a, like, overly like, share person of just like, in general. Like, I think there's two type of, like, sharing. There's like, communal.
Mecca
Like, communal food. This is for everybody.
Jameela
Come one, come all. And then there's like, you want my plate? I don't know what it is about you asking about something off of my plate. And it's a smaller plate.
Mecca
Yeah.
Jameela
I may not even eat all of this. But something about you asking me kind of just. Just trigger something in me. And I'm going to give it to you. But I'm thinking about it all day.
Mecca
I'm agitated.
Jameela
Why did like.
Mecca
But that's the thing. That's why we had that rule. You can't ask right then and there. And mind you, when we were all in.
Jameela
Jelani also hates when I. Jelani's. He. First of all, Jelani. You know, Jelani's a little tistic, right? Jelani has this. He used to say that I make him allergic. Like, he used to say he was allergic to me when he was a kid. Now he's like, what the fuck? I like Jelani. Can I have some like. And I don't know what it is, but, like, I feel the need to, like, ask something from Jelani, even if I don't want it. It's just the big sister me, can I have some of yours?
Mecca
Right?
Jameela
And he would be like, I'm allergic to you. You make me itch.
Mecca
That's so mean. But also, why is you asking for my shit Move. No, it's something. It's like, dare to me used to barter. Cause I grew up, I didn't like French fries. And so when we got to McDonald's Happy Meals, I'd be like, I give you my fries, you give me two nuggets.
Jameela
And not liking fries is really a Character, flavor flaw.
Mecca
I just.
Jameela
She doesn't like potatoes, though.
Mecca
I don't like potatoes.
Jameela
And again, character flaw.
Mecca
I wasn't a fan. I wanted more nuggets. We used to. We used to barter down in the crib.
Jameela
A good potato. Oh, the things. Potato is a slut. The things you can do to that.
Mecca
I will. I will say that has ran through.
Jameela
And I run through her.
Mecca
When I was on the Daniel Fast, I made a potato soup.
Jameela
Even though you don't like potatoes.
Mecca
Cause I pureed it though, with the vegetables, so it was a liquid. It still had like a thick texture.
Jameela
Get the fuck out of my face. I wish a bitch would give me pureed potato.
Mecca
They make potato soup all the time. To me, that's like a thing.
Jameela
I know what potato soup is. And they don't puree the fucking potatoes.
Mecca
No, I pureed it. Cause I ain't want to taste the potato. And I couldn't.
Jameela
You said like you invented something. No, potato soup is potatoes, bitch. I know. And they don't fucking puree it.
Mecca
Well, I did. That's what I. Ew. That's what I'm drinking.
Jameela
Potato.
Mecca
I wasn't drinking. I was eating it like a soup.
Jameela
Drinking was a soap you got to buy.
Mecca
Oh, I put a little cheese on the top. It was real good.
Jameela
Ew. I know. It was gritty.
Mecca
The vegetables kind of offset the grit.
Jameela
It was gritty.
Mecca
It really wasn't that gritty.
Jameela
Puree potato with the vegetable grit in there.
Mecca
And I put. I put a little coconut milk in it. Cuz you can't use real milk. I put a little curry seasoning so it tastes. It had like a kawarma, that curry chicken.
Jameela
Okay, you're making like. You ever seen them videos on TikTok that were like, I'm making kitchen soup. That's what she was in there making. Everything in this kitchen going there. I'm making trash can soup.
Mecca
That's what it was, child.
Jameela
You was making dumpster dive soup potatoes. Everything up in everything.
Mecca
Everybody like potatoes. Until I. Until I say how I eat a potato.
Jameela
Yes, actually. Yes, that's exactly right. Moral of the story, sister. Give that nigga a break.
Mecca
You got so far off.
Jameela
We gotta look.
Mecca
You know how we get some potatoes?
Jameela
Sorry, I don't even know. Good luck. I bet you by the time you reread this, you and that nigga stop talking.
Mecca
Yeah, that's how college relationships go.
Jameela
Next time you read this letter, you have already gone to a party and seen him twerking on the bitch.
Mecca
Oh, have you ever seen your. At one of them dank, nasty apartment parties?
Jameela
You don't know her betrayal. And then all you see is a. Like this.
Mecca
Oh, you don't even know what the look like, man.
Jameela
What? Girl, by the time you see this, you would have already seen that nuzzled into the. Into the crevice of a neck of a. In the cafeteria.
Mecca
It's stressing me out from afar.
Jameela
So you can't even do shit about it.
Mecca
I miss a good cafe.
Jameela
You don't know hurt and pain.
Mecca
You don't.
Jameela
You don't know. You're so young and tenderoni.
Mecca
Remember when you would see your nigga pop out at the probate and it would be bitches with his number?
Jameela
Let me tell you something.
Mecca
Oh, you don't know pain.
Jameela
The moment a nigga tell you he online, go ahead and. Go ahead and chop it off.
Mecca
Go ahead and take Lock out.
Jameela
Go ahead and take that L. And. And you'll see.
Mecca
You don't hold no nigga down. You're in school to do your homework. Okay, okay.
Jameela
Going in. Going.
Mecca
Well, if I see any of y' all holding niggas down, I will personally whoop your.
Jameela
Oh, yes. Don't. I wish. I wish you would. I wish you would.
Mecca
I've told this story before, but I had a boy who told me he was online. I said, that's nice. Ghosted. Cause I'm not holding you down.
Jameela
Yeah. Fuck no.
Mecca
Hadn't fucked him, though. He wanted to fuck. So when he came back, I said, oh, congrats. And he said, what about now? And I said, no. And he said, but I'm a Kappa now.
Jameela
Yeah. And now I'm doubling to this day.
Mecca
Now I'm extra fucking funniest Snapchat message like I'm. I've ever got.
Jameela
But I'm a capping.
Mecca
But I'm a capping now.
Jameela
Head ass.
Mecca
The.
Jameela
I got my face. Oh.
Mecca
Anyway. And that's why you ain't gonna have no pussy. Well, that's been another episode of Unhinged and Immoral. Jamila, do we have any church announcements?
Jameela
We do. I need everybody right now to stop what they're doing and go ahead and purchase their tickets to the Michael Jackson biopic. It comes out by the time you watch this, it comes out tomorrow.
Mecca
The fact that this is not promo for us, but promo for the Michael Jackson movie.
Jameela
As. As a. As a Jackson, I am indebted. I do my. I do my. I do my duties, mind you off. The love of the game. Love of the game. No funds no fun. But yes. Make sure you guys go support the Michael movie, but also go support. Support you, me, in Tuscany. Go support anything that you see black people are in because they be trying to act like black people. Nobody wants to see black people.
Mecca
Streaming included. Are you watching Paradise?
Jameela
Yeah. And if you're in town, if you're in Atlanta, and if there's still tickets available, make sure you guys get your tickets to Black Effect. Me and Mecca will be on a panel with Charlemagne the God. I think we're actually one of the first panels of that day. So that's going to be really exciting. It's a really stacked event.
Mecca
You know what's funny about that? You know how it's from Gen X to Gen Z, right? And so in my head, I'm so glad baby was on the meeting, right? Cause I said, do they think we're Gen Z now? Technically?
Jameela
And I was gonna let it slide.
Mecca
I'm like, I was gonna let it slide. Technically, we are the very first year. But, you know, zillennial. I said, oh, young bitch. Young bitch. Young bitch.
Jameela
But I said, oh, not you.
Mecca
I said, okay, okay. Because I knew that was gonna be a point of. Cause I seen in the comments, someone said, so where did Gen Z.
Jameela
Hey, baby.
Mecca
Now hold on.
Jameela
We don't break the rules. And the name on the flyer, I don't know. I didn't fucking name the shit.
Mecca
So I'm glad we got that all clear. I said, ah, so I can be who I am.
Jameela
The moderator is Gen Z. She's Gen Z. So I think that actually that's cool to have the Gen Z as the moderator. Get the young hoes to moderate.
Mecca
We just the middle.
Jameela
We the middle hoes. Yeah, I'm middle ho. Yes. Mid. But I will say, being on set with Kev on stage, we are the young hoes.
Mecca
We are the young hoes on stage.
Jameela
It depends on wherever I go, if I'm the young ho or if I'm the old hoe. But whenever we would come on stage and crew Young ho, it be so
Mecca
sad when Kev start bringing them younger hoes. And I'll be like, oh, we're no longer. We're no longer.
Jameela
Zelgen was the youngest. Now that shout out to Zelgen. I miss Zelgen. We had such a good time with that baby.
Mecca
He was live from the. From the black ch.
Jameela
Yo. He is so funny. And like, you know how there's people who are like, they just. Just everything that they say is, like a hit. Like, every time this Nigga spoke. We was dying laughing. He wasn't even even trying to joke, but it was just funny.
Mecca
Little brother energy. It very much. I'm a little brother hanging out with my big sisters. And sometimes when we'd be talking, his questions would legitimately be genuine questions, but his timing and the fact that he was genuinely asking would be like, Belgium, please.
Jameela
Yeah. Shout out to everybody who was there from the 6th to the 11th. I know some people. We didn't even get a chance to cp. I'm so mad I didn't get a chance to meet you. I'm a big fan, by the way.
Mecca
Who else?
Jameela
Spice. I'm so mad I didn't get a chance to meet Spice. Everybody. Like, I was. I was. I was a fan walking around. Okay. I was also just a fan. Also, I seen Mojo pop out. I didn't even get a chance to speak to you because I was kind of like, damn, I did. I. I was kind of gagged. And I'm not gonna lie. Mojo walked up in that bitch. Like, I said, oh, I ain't gonna lie.
Mecca
That was.
Jameela
That. That was kind of tough. Mojo walked in there with. With the shades on, and I think he's on tour right now. So he walked in while we was getting lunch and shit, and I was like. Like, I ain't gonna lie. That's tough. And everybody's like. And I was like, that's tough. I didn't get a chance to speak, but big fan. I love everybody involved. You know what I'm saying? I'm trying to get involved with that again. Shout out to Kev, call me again. I'm available every day.
Mecca
You need me every day. Yeah. Kev, call me.
Jameela
Yeah.
Mecca
You feel me?
