Lindy Hockenberry is a K-12 ed tech advisor and strategist based in Montana. At FETC 2026, she sat down to challenge the instinct that keeps creeping back into education: ban the technology, block the tools, act like AI doesn't exist.

Her argument is simple and hard to fight. You don't interact with technology through a screen. You interact with it when you walk into a convention center, tap your card at a store, or get into a car. AI is already everywhere. Even someone who ditches social media and carries a flip phone can't avoid it. So the move isn't to hide from it. It's to educate for it.

Her unavoidable truth reframes the whole conversation: there is no such thing as digital citizenship. It's just citizenship. The separation between digital and physical interaction is already gone. By 2050, the separation between digital, physical, and biological will be gone too.
