Veterans Corner Radio focuses on what those who have served in the military, and their families need to know to maximize the services and benefits due to them. In 1963 retired United States Navy Rear Admiral Thomas Lynch was a Junior at our nation's Naval Academy and Captain of the football team. In 1964, as a Senior, he played on a team that included Junior Roger Staubach. Having grown up in Florida, Ryan tried college, found it wasn't for him, and ended up enlisting in the Marines. Eventually he transitioned from enlisted to an officer, ultimately becoming a helicopter pilot. National Football League and Pittsburgh Steelers legend Robert "Rocky" Bleier was drafted into our United States Army where he served as an Infantryman in the Vietnam War. He was wounded in action, becoming a recipient of the Bronze Star with Valor device and a Purple Heart.
