Crystal Ball Tell me how the relationship between content creators and AI tools will evolve over the next 18 months.
C
Oh, I love this question. Because the way I think about it is that because these tools are getting so much better. Like, you can imagine that you could create video clips like we've all seen, we've seen the demos, but eventually that will be cheap and they'll be able to create long video clips. When that technology is available, anybody can create video, not just people who are good at the technical skills. And so what that means is there's a lot more creators out there. Creators become people who have a vision that have an idea that can think of something novel. That's it. Like, it used to be that in order to be a creator, you needed to have a technical skill like film production or painting or drawing in addition to the inspiration. And that's what's going away. So my real answer to your question about the relationship between creators and their tools is that these tools are going to get so good with AI technology that there are a lot more creators. In fact, everybody is a creator because the only thing you need is an idea.
B
I like that. And it's, I feel like too, it's just shifting the mindset towards viewing it as like an instrument or something. Like it's something new. Like, you still have to come with that creative mindset to make something from it. But the. Yeah, again, like, the table stakes seem to have just risen from this.
C
Yeah. And we forget that there are creators that don't have that inspiration or that vision. Imagine. I don't mean to put anybody down, but I'm going to give you an example. Imagine if the only thing you did was sketch profiles of people's faces. Like, yeah, Dale, that looks like you. All right, well, you're really good at that technical skill of drawing a likeness that looks exactly like me. But where's the inspiration? Where's the creativity? And we've, we've all seen people who draw you know, very entertaining and esthetically pleasing caricatures of people's faces. Like, that requires, you know, creativity and inspiration. That's a human trait. But if the only thing you're doing was creating a likeness of me, that was very accurate. Like, you've got the technical skill, but.
B
Not the inspiration, I feel like, again, that should bring a lot of hope to people because I feel like that's the biggest piece that most of the time, people that are on the content side of things get the most frustrated or worried. But it's like, if anything from this, I'm thinking they're also well positioned to do just fine through this.
C
What I see is a lot of content people who are in a job or an organization where they don't have the opportunity to express their creativity and their inspiration. That's true of a lot of SEOs and content folks, technical people, and so they're really there to write this article or optimize that page or fix this canonical tag. Right? And we'd all love to be working at a higher level than that, and some of us are, some of us aren't. But we're going to have to figure out how to get to that higher level. The good news is the that we're going to enjoy our work more.
B
And I don't think anyone should be that upset about getting rid of some of that busy work or kind of some more of the mundane side of things. All right, so that wraps up this episode of the Voice of Search podcast. Thanks again to Dale from Fire and Spark for joining us. Voices of Search Podcast: The Evolving Relationship Between Content Creators and AI Tools
Release Date: June 11, 2025
Host: Tyson Stockton
Guest: Dale from Fire and Spark
Duration: Approximately 4 minutes and 39 seconds
In this episode of the Voices of Search podcast, hosted by Tyson Stockton, the discussion centers on the dynamic interplay between content creators and artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The episode features Dale from Fire and Spark, who provides insightful perspectives on how AI is reshaping the landscape of content creation and SEO over the coming months.
Dale opens the conversation by highlighting the rapid advancements in AI tools and their implications for content creators. He emphasizes that as AI technology improves, the barriers to entry for content creation are significantly lowering.
"These tools are getting so much better... anybody can create video, not just people who are good at the technical skills."
— Dale [00:51]
Dale envisions a future where the technical aspects of content creation—such as video production—become accessible to a broader audience. This democratization means that creativity and vision, rather than technical prowess, will become the primary drivers of content creation.
The discussion delves into how AI tools serve as instruments that amplify a creator's ability to execute their ideas. Dale stresses that while AI handles the technical execution, the creative impetus must still come from the human creator.
"It's something new. You still have to come with that creative mindset to make something from it."
— Dale [02:11]
He contrasts mere technical skill with genuine creativity, illustrating that AI cannot replicate the unique inspiration that human creators bring to their work. Dale uses the example of caricature drawing to underscore this point:
"Imitation of likeness is technical skill, but creating entertaining and aesthetically pleasing caricatures requires creativity and inspiration."
— Dale [02:11-02:52]
Dale projects that with AI tools becoming more sophisticated and affordable, the number of content creators will surge. This expansion is not just limited to those with traditional technical skills but includes anyone with a compelling idea.
"The only thing you need is an idea."
— Dale [01:52]
He posits that this shift will lead to an influx of diverse content, as more individuals can now realize their creative visions without being hindered by technical limitations.
Addressing concerns specific to SEO and content marketing professionals, Dale acknowledges that many in these roles are currently confined to technical tasks with little room for creative expression. However, he remains optimistic about the future.
"We're really there to write this article or optimize that page or fix this canonical tag... We're going to have to figure out how to get to that higher level."
— Dale [03:13]
Dale encourages content professionals to embrace the transition brought about by AI, suggesting that the reduction of mundane tasks will allow them to focus more on creative and strategic aspects of their work. This shift not only enhances job satisfaction but also aligns with the evolving demands of the digital landscape.
In wrapping up the episode, Tyson Stockton and Dale reflect on the positive transformations AI tools are bringing to the content creation ecosystem. Dale's insights highlight a future where creativity is paramount, and technical barriers are minimized, enabling a more inclusive and dynamic content creator community.
"We're going to enjoy our work more."
— Dale [03:47]
The episode concludes with an encouraging note for content creators and SEO professionals to leverage AI as a tool for enhancing creativity and efficiency, rather than viewing it as a threat.
"Anybody can create video, not just people who are good at the technical skills."
