Podcast: Built to Sell Radio (LS 50 · TOP 0.5% what is this?)Episode: Ep 547 How to Get Your Partners to Buy You OutPub date: 2026-05-22Get Podcast Transcript →powered by Listen411 - fast audio-to-text and summarizationWhen Sean Kernan wanted out of the financial advisor support business he co-founded in Dallas, he didn't shop it to outside acquirers, and he didn't wait for his five partners to make him an offer. He engineered the buyout himself. Three and a half months from the first conversation to the wire hitting his account, $500,000 in cash, no earn-out, no holdback. In this episode, you discover how to: Open the conversation with your partners without triggering a defensive reaction or a stall Anchor your price to a prior valuation event so the number is hard to argue with Use a deliberately low ask as leverage to get speed, certainty, and 100% cash upfront Identify which one of your partners is most likely to write the check, and approach them first Source the cash from a platform partner, franchisor, or custodian who holds the underlying assets Negotiate a "ceasefire" non-compete that protects the buyers without trapping you Read inbound acquirer silence as market signal before you push the group toward a full sale Spot the partner who is too eager to buy, and what that eagerness usually means The podcast and artwork embedded on this page are from John Warrillow, which is the property of its owner and not affiliated with or endorsed by Listen Notes, Inc.

Podcast: Invest Like the Best with Patrick O'Shaughnessy (LS 67 · TOP 0.05% what is this?)Episode: Gavin Baker - Nvidia v. Google, Scaling Laws, and the Economics of AI - [Invest Like the Best, EP.451]Pub date: 2025-12-09Get Podcast Transcript →powered by Listen411 - fast audio-to-text and summarizationMy guest this week is Gavin Baker. Gavin is the managing partner and CIO of Atreides Management, and he has been on the show many times before. I will never forget when I first met Gavin in 2017. I find his interest in markets, his curiosity about the world to be as infectious as any investor that I've ever come across. He's encyclopedic on what is going on in the world of technology today, and I've had the good fortune to host him every year or two on this podcast. Gavin began covering Nvidia as an investor more than two decades ago, giving him a rare perspective on how the company – and the entire semiconductor ecosystem – has evolved. A lot has changed since our last conversation a year ago, making this the perfect time to revisit the topic. In this conversation, we talk about everything that interests Gavin – Nvidia’s GPUs, Google’s TPUs, the changing AI landscape, the math and business models around AI companies and everything in between. We also discussed the idea of data centers in space, which he communicates with his usual passion and logic. In closing, at the end of this conversation, because I've asked him my traditional closing question before, I asked him a different question, which led to a discussion of his entire investing origin story that I had never heard before. Because Gavin is one of the most passionate thinkers and investors that I know, these conversations are always amongst my most favorite. I hope you enjoy this latest in the series of discussions with Gavin Baker. Dylan is the founder and CEO of SemiAnalysis, where he tracks the semiconductor supply chain and AI infrastructure buildout. This conversation is about the supply and demand of tokens. On demand, Dylan describes something completely explosive. He explains why the frontier model is the only model anyone wants, and willingness to pay for it is nearly unbounded. His own firm has gone from tens of thousands of dollars in AI spend last year to seven million this year. On supply, we walk through the bottlenecks across memory, logic, and fab equipment that will determine how fast any of this can scale. We also cover Claude Mythos and what the leading labs need to do to fix their growing public perception problem. The central theme is watts and wafers, the two physical constraints that in Gavin's view will dictate the next phase of AI. On power, he thinks the near-term shortage starts to ease in 2027 and 2028 as new sources of energy come online, and that orbital compute solves it in the long term. On wafers, he explains what is different this time from the dotcom bubble and why TSMC’s capacity decisions may be the single most important variable to watch. We also discuss Elon’s Terrafab, the disaggregation of GPUs, the role of new chip companies, and whether the economic value of AI will keep accruing to frontier models.
