Unknown Speaker
LinkedIn knows how to.
Tiffany Singleton
Cause we're your girl hey.
Unknown Speaker
Cause I like how you do un.
Tiffany Singleton
De trois tru vai diva.
Unknown Speaker
I'm on duolingo French. So, you know, sprinkle it in when you can.
Tiffany Singleton
How's that going?
Unknown Speaker
Chumange. Un croissant. We're workshopping it. Help me.
Tiffany Singleton
You brought ebonics into Chumonge?
Unknown Speaker
Chumonge. Un croissant.
Tiffany Singleton
Un croissant. Actually, that's not bad.
Unknown Speaker
That was good.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. She means to. Which is you. It says she said chu, but I kind of love that. It'd be like if I was always like, what you doing?
Unknown Speaker
Okay.
Tiffany Singleton
What you doing?
Unknown Speaker
Okay. So if a French person heard that, would they be like, eh.
Tiffany Singleton
But it's un croissant, un. Mm. Yeah. That's the hard thing about French is there's lots of. There's a lot of sounds that are almost indiscernible, but they mean very different things.
Unknown Speaker
And it's hard to the beginner. I can't discern that.
Tiffany Singleton
It's very odd when hearing, even for me. And I mean, I'm obviously anyone listening who's like a fluent, fluent Parisian would be like, well, I mean, that's because Taran's French isn't perfect.
Unknown Speaker
You have great French.
Tiffany Singleton
Je c' est a. Okay, I know my French is not perfect. So don't tell me my French is not perfect because you don't need to tell me that because I already know. But guess what? I bet my. You know what? Let me stop there.
Unknown Speaker
Oh.
Tiffany Singleton
Cause I almost made a really mean comment to you. Ok. No. French people will really piss you off when you just have a good time they'll be like. Like, somebody messaged me once, and I literally made a video talking about how my French is a little rusty.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
But. And I said it in French, and they messaged me, and they said, as your, like, French bestie, I need to let you know your French is rusty.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, diva. Why did they do that?
Tiffany Singleton
Why did you affirm that?
Unknown Speaker
Because you already said what you said, so they didn't need to come back in anyway.
Tiffany Singleton
There's a lot of sounds in French. They're like. There's a difference between. Those are two different things. Like, that doesn't even exist.
Unknown Speaker
Un.
Tiffany Singleton
So they're all different sounds.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
It's hard, and it's very. And you'll be speaking, which you think you're like, oh, wow, I killed that sentence. That was good. And then a French person will blink at you. Like, I don't.
Unknown Speaker
It wasn't quite it.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. And really, they did understand you. They just want you to.
Unknown Speaker
Want you to work for it.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. Or like. And also, there's gender. It's a gendered language. Yeah. So you have to know the genders.
Unknown Speaker
Of objects, which is tough because you don't know that just by looking at the. Or, no, you know it by looking at the word. But it's hard to know that while learning the word.
Tiffany Singleton
But even so, I've had multiple people be like, yeah, that's a mistake. Even lots of French children, I'm told, will mess up the genders of words. Right. But it's a correction they get as they're growing up. And so, of course, their grammar gets better and better and better. So for me, how am I supposed to know if a boat is feminine or masculine?
Unknown Speaker
And you don't know that just by saying it.
Tiffany Singleton
Exactly. It's actually on bateau. And actually, that's a really good example of something you would know is masculine. Fine. I have to come up with a better example of something that would be harder to know.
Unknown Speaker
Un bateau. I just like to spill a word or two.
Tiffany Singleton
That was beautiful.
Unknown Speaker
I would say French is additionally hard for me to say because I want to say it. The words look similar to Spanish. And so I took Spanish in school from, like, K through 12. So, like, two. Two for me is two.
Tiffany Singleton
Oh.
Unknown Speaker
Como se dice tu? Like, I can give them a little Spanish something E, too.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
But then I get confused when I say it in French.
Tiffany Singleton
Right, Right.
Unknown Speaker
Because they look the same, but the accent is so damn different. And, like, the placement of the palette. Oh, my God.
Tiffany Singleton
However, I will say tu is the same Tue like you are. Chu tu a un fi.
Unknown Speaker
I don't.
Tiffany Singleton
You're a girl.
Unknown Speaker
That's where we are in Duolingo right now.
Tiffany Singleton
Ah, that's very good. Thank you. I've been wanting to ask you, tell me now if you know us at all, but maybe you don't know. Tiffany is the fashion person between the two of us. Oh, I am not. Don't say that. This outfit is almost identical to the outfit that I wore last week. I just have on a slightly different jean and a different colored shirt of the same brand.
Unknown Speaker
I will say, watching our ship back, we do just wear the same outfit, but with different. But it's the same base. T shirt, jeans, sneakers, and our little Alexis Patar earrings.
Tiffany Singleton
But you look.
Unknown Speaker
That's our thing, though.
Tiffany Singleton
You mix it up. No, I won't accept this. I do that. But you don't really. You mix it up. You wear it. You have such a fun wardrobe. And if you follow Tiffany on Instagram especially, you'll see that Tiffany has such a fun, eclectic fashion perspective she chooses. She makes these really surprising but fun choices in her wardrobe. I am trying to understand fashion more, and it is only because of my friendship with Tiffany that I've even started to care a little bit more, because you make it palatable and fun and interesting. Yeah, I love watch. I, like, love every time. If you don't have a fashion watch, I'm dead. Because every day I wait to see what you're gonna put on.
Unknown Speaker
I say all the time, I know that I've made, or I will have known that I made my mark on the world. People have better taste in music and dress better. I can go happy. Yeah, I can go happy, But I don't want to go right now. I want to stay a little longer. Yeah, but that makes me happy to hear you have taste, though. I hate to hear you say that. Thanks. She's got taste. Une taste. Don't lie how you say taste in French. Gout une gute.
Tiffany Singleton
No, don't say them. Don't ask me questions in front of the audience, because then if I get it wrong, they'll be like, I knew Tara didn't speak French.
Unknown Speaker
We're saying it here. Then don't come for my girl. Put some spec on her name.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah, I live every day speaking English, so it's hard for me to tap back into that. But if you and me were ever in France and you needed help, I would translate for you at the doctor.
Unknown Speaker
Because she's the first one to do it. She's the first one.
Tiffany Singleton
One time this girl got robbed, I was helping her out.
Unknown Speaker
I know you.
Tiffany Singleton
She was an American. She was like, what do I do? I said, hold on. I turned to the police, and in French, I was like, this woman's Catboat Hospital. If you don't help this young Catboat Hospital, you are going to regret the rest of your days. So the reason I brought up your fashion sense and how much I love your fashion sense is every year, I look forward to hearing your take on the Met Gala. Oh, yeah. So I'm gonna give you the floor because I have almost nothing to say other than I saw a cup of monocles, I thought.
Unknown Speaker
Saw some lapel.
Tiffany Singleton
I saw some monocles, I thought that watch, that piece of. Without eyeglasses and watch, that was elite. I saw a couple people that looked like they were. They were five people in a trench coat.
Unknown Speaker
It was given.
Tiffany Singleton
It was an optical illusion. Open the coat. Just one person, one man inside. I thought. And I'm looking at it, and I'm like, trace, you can laugh. It's okay.
Unknown Speaker
Friends, one take.
Tiffany Singleton
If I ever go, that's my take. That's why. Take on the Met Gala. I saw a couple outfits where I thought, you know what? If I was at the Met Gala, I'd come in, centaur. I'd have three dudes walking underneath.
Unknown Speaker
Somebody's the legs.
Tiffany Singleton
Somebody's the legs. I'm dressed like a big old horse.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, I can see it.
Tiffany Singleton
And then I'd have. And I'd have some goggles on.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, I'm locked in.
Tiffany Singleton
And I'd look at all the cameras like this. And there would be one person on the Internet who goes, love this, but it needed a hat.
Unknown Speaker
That's exactly right. I was just gonna say you. I think you would do well at the Met Gala because you love a costume. If there's any. If there's ever a time to dress the fuck up, it's then. And you would eat down. I just know it.
Tiffany Singleton
Thanks, buddy.
Unknown Speaker
I just know it.
Tiffany Singleton
Talk about it. I want to hear what you think.
Unknown Speaker
So, as you mentioned, every year I do, like, a little Met Gala recap. And I've been doing this for, like, damn near a decade. It feels like not that long, but a long time. And I gently go through on Instagram and talk about my favorite looks and, like, reference the history behind certain looks and just. I lean in. I'm like a fashionophile. I love fashion history. I love the Met Gala because it's a celebration of art in. In the way That I know how to express myself as an artist through clothing and through storytelling with garments. It's so fascinating to me. So this year, when they announced. They announced the theme in October.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And at first, admittedly, I was like, I don't like that.
Tiffany Singleton
Why?
Unknown Speaker
Only because I get sensitive with fashion in particular, capitalizing on black creativity. And so at first glance, I'm like, Like, why are we. What's the motive behind putting black people center stage this year? But then, of course, on the other hand, I'm like, ah, yes, celebrate. Then as time goes on, obviously, I'm like, yes, we're leaning in. Leaning into black stories, leaning into, you know, the impact of black people on society and fashion. So that's great. So then we get to tonight or yesterday night. I'm weepy, like, all day long. I was an emotional mess yesterday. Like, how many times will we get to say we watched a true and pure celebration of black people in fashion, in culture and in history on the.
Tiffany Singleton
Biggest fashion show on a mainstream stage?
Unknown Speaker
Not as black as fuck.
Tiffany Singleton
And now it's. And today it's a black event.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
And that was really, really cool to see.
Unknown Speaker
Like, chills. I get chills just talking about it. It makes my heart beat. It's like, you think of the stories of, like, teyana Taylor and A$AP Rocky. Like, seeing them together. They came from the trenches in Harlem, and now they're one Hosting the Met or hosting the red carpet in a co chair for the Met gala. Like, that's seeing those two beautiful black people kikiing on the world's most famous state. Like, I. It might. It blew my mind. I have some quotes that I wrote down from articles that I saw over the past couple hours because I'm like, ugh. So we all know and love Colman Domingo, our boy.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
And he was co chair for this year's event. And he's detailing what a dandy is. And in this speech, he says, a dandy, or just dandyism, represents generations of men who have liberated themselves with style. And that, to me, I mean, again, made me cry because that's what fashion is to me. Like, before I knew what. Before I knew how I presented to the world, before I knew that my blackness would speak for me before I got in a room, before I knew that my hair would speak for me before I got in the room, before I knew my features would speak for me. Before I got in the room, I understood that my clothing would speak for me before I got in the room. And so it was this is so impactful to someone like me because without even knowing it, I am a dandy. Like, I'm the definition of a dandy. I've used fashion, I've used style. I've used uniqueness in that space to carve out a path for me in society. Oh, I get chills. Talking about it makes me want to cry. It's just amazing. And then it's also so cool to know that's not intrinsic to my family. That's not intrinsic to my mom, my dad. Of course they're fashionable people. But I was never told dress this way so that you can get this reaction or dress up so that you can feel this way about yourself. And it's very cool to know the ancestors are speaking to me intrinsically. Like, that just came to me because that's how we've been doing that for so long. Like, I see myself in the exhibit. I see myself in The Dandy from 1838. I see myself in A$AP Rocky in 2010. Like, I. We have been doing this for so long, and it's like, it's mind blowing to me. Like, we. I don't know if we'll ever get this kind of celebration again in this way. If they're smart, they would do it again. Because did you hear the Met raised the most money that they've ever raised pre event ever?
Tiffany Singleton
I saw that.
Unknown Speaker
Ever that. Yeah, I saw that in, like, decades of hosting this event. That is insane. And it just goes to show not only the power of the black dollar, but the power of our community. I mean, it's amazing. So I can't wait to see this exhibit. As you know, I'll go through and, like, do my little recap of all my favorite looks, but just, yeah, like, the spirit of Andre Leon Talley was over everyone last night. It was so sweet to see and hear all of the respect that was paid to him. And I will say Andre's book, the Chiffon Trenches, that was his last memoir that he wrote before he passed. And that was the book that I read right before I basically decided that I was leaving corporate America, that I wanted to venture out on my own. And the book not only tore me down, but also built me up in so many ways. I was heartbroken by his story that he gave so much to an industry that basically left him penniless and with nothing in his death. But he was fashionable and he had all of, you know, all of the things that physically made him him, but was casted off in so many ways by society. By fashion, by Vogue, by everyone in the industry. That basically, like, kind of wrote him off towards the end. But he. This met was for him, like, that was, in my opinion, Anna's way of honoring her friend who she had a very contentious relationship with. But really. Oh, my God, I didn't know it.
Tiffany Singleton
Was a contentious relationship.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, he details it in so much, like, he went in. In the best way. It honestly is like. It is a retelling of New York's, like, most. The height of New York fashion society through, like, the 60s to, I would say, like the 90s. And he talks very intimately about his relationship with Anna. And they were very best friends, and then not friends, and then co workers, but always had this, like, really deep and profound respect for each other. And what a beautiful way to honor her friend in this way. I mean, he is the ultimate dandy. He is dandyism. So I'm going on and on, but it was.
Tiffany Singleton
Don't be. I love listening to this.
Unknown Speaker
Okay, thanks, pal.
Tiffany Singleton
And I think this is an. For those who know already, then this is them getting to listen to somebody who has a perspective that they really are, like, aligned with and understand. And then there for other people who are not. Who might not understand listening. I think this is so important.
Unknown Speaker
Okay, so.
Tiffany Singleton
And who can explain it better than you?
Unknown Speaker
All right, thanks. So, yeah, it just. Oh. I was saying about the book. I read the book for the first time as memoir when I decided to leave corporate America, start Poise. And it was really pivotal because at the time, I was feeling exactly how he had mentioned he felt. Basically like a show pony for people who would use his. All the things that made him magical. The way that he dressed, the way that he spoke, the way that he made people feel would use that to better their organization, their magazine, their brand, whatever. So I was like, oh, my God, it was like looking in a mirror. I could either continue down this path of being a show pony, for lack of better phrasing, or try something new and venture out and do the thing that makes my heart sing, even though it's a little scary, even though it's avant garde, it's different. We don't really have a path to show us how to do it, but we do it anyway, and it all works out in the end. Of course, he passed away before, I would say he fully got his flowers, but it's like, it's good to know that he imparted that wisdom on us, that we now get to make those decisions earlier in life. It won't take us 60 years to get to the point where we feel comfortable enough and supported by our community to step out and make decisions that support our community, that support us, that support what we want. I could go on and on. This met meant so much to me. Like, I get emotional. I literally get emotional just talking about it. It's amazing. It is amazing. I love a black person through and through.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Thank you for coming to my TikTok.
Tiffany Singleton
That was so good, Diva.
Unknown Speaker
Thanks, pal.
Tiffany Singleton
And there were monocles.
Unknown Speaker
There were plenty of monocles. And hella shoulder pads.
Tiffany Singleton
Hella shoulder pads. A lot of hats.
Unknown Speaker
Lots of hats.
Tiffany Singleton
A lot of hats. Lots of hats. Sideways.
Unknown Speaker
I was laughing, so no hats.
Tiffany Singleton
Straight up and down.
Unknown Speaker
I was cackling because Jon Batiste is. I thought of you. He came out on the carpet with a saxophone. So he was in this gorgeous suit with a sax.
Tiffany Singleton
Everyone stop. Everyone stop. Everyone stop before they think I'm laughing at John Batiste. I'm not.
Unknown Speaker
We're not.
Tiffany Singleton
We're not. Let's be really clear.
Unknown Speaker
We love that man.
Tiffany Singleton
We have spoken for years about how I think the saxophone is the funniest instrument.
Unknown Speaker
So I thought of you because there.
Tiffany Singleton
Are certain things in this life that are funny. Inarguably funny.
Unknown Speaker
We have the sense of humor of an 11 year old. So I thought of you. He comes out with a saxophone. And as people. First, you don't see him. You just hear a saxophone randomly off in the distance. No. As people are doing their interviews. So he played it. Bitch. Tiana's like, tell us what you're wearing, diva. And all you hear is.
Tiffany Singleton
Amazing.
Unknown Speaker
I'm like, who is playing a saxophone? And then he finally gets on the carpet as people are going up the famous Met steps. And occasionally you just hear it. So amazing. Playing you with your trumpet sound. It would kill me.
Tiffany Singleton
That's so funny.
Unknown Speaker
It was brilliant.
Tiffany Singleton
That's actually so great. Sorry, it's not funny. But also, again, I have to say, you guys know I've always thought saxophones were funny.
Unknown Speaker
Mm. Situationally.
Tiffany Singleton
Situationally. There's a reason why on all of our clips on Instagram, Kenny G is playing saxophones. Although, is he playing a clarinet?
Unknown Speaker
No, he's playing a saxophone. That'd be wild. If I play Squidward tennis for you to play a clarinet.
Tiffany Singleton
So.
Unknown Speaker
Right. Why'd I go like that?
Tiffany Singleton
Saxophones are funny. There's no way around it. As are tubas.
Unknown Speaker
Tuba. It's fun to see.
Tiffany Singleton
Could you imagine a fucking. If I'd come to the Met with a tuba.
Unknown Speaker
Wait, how do you play A tuba. There you go. Could you imagine if anybody could, it's you. That's what gets me. You would kill a Met gala.
Tiffany Singleton
I'm dressed like a. I'd be dressed like a lion.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
Holding a tuba.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
And then everybody, like, for months, people would discuss it. You guys just don't understand the deeper meaning of the symbolism of Taryn's costume. It'd be me. Meanwhile, I'm sitting in my house like, that didn't mean shit.
Unknown Speaker
I just wanted all the tuba.
Tiffany Singleton
I just wanted to have. I had a lion costume on hand.
Unknown Speaker
I'm screaming, no. Yeah, I need you to wear. When you go, you'll wear a Moschino. You'll be like, really fun.
Tiffany Singleton
Okay.
Unknown Speaker
We're planning this out.
Tiffany Singleton
You know, like I said earlier, you make it fun. I think that in life, a big thing that I have learned is oftentimes, if you. We often look at things and we're like, I don't know. I just don't get it. I don't get her. I don't get that show. I don't get that genre of music. I don't get fashion. And therefore, we approach it with disdain because we don't understand it. And generally, I found that instead of approaching things you don't get with disdain, approach them with absolute curiosity.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
And it really changes the way you view and talk about anything. It's true. I mean. And I literally mean anything. If you approach things with general curiosity and good humor, you can just about embrace. So long as it's, you know, good at anything.
Unknown Speaker
Anybody, Anybody, Any place, any frame of thought.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah, absolutely. It's actually why I've stopped saying that. I hate la. Now, listen, my Los Angeles listeners, don't be mad. Don't be mad. Oh, my gosh.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
And I'm sure they think, what a revolutionary take. A New Yorker hates la.
Unknown Speaker
It's actually why I.
Tiffany Singleton
It's actually why I started to. It's actually why I decided to stop hanging out.
Unknown Speaker
I was like, you're like, wow, I'm locked in.
Tiffany Singleton
Wow. I noticed that I had all these reasons, and I was fueled by. Whenever I'd mentioned LA to someone at a party here in New York, they'd go, oh, God, I hate la. And we would just go on and on and on about hating la. And then I was in LA for a week and shooting this thing I did for Sephora, and I had a Wax.
Unknown Speaker
It's fabulous.
Tiffany Singleton
And I had a Waxes. Best wax I've ever had. I've discussed this with you you did. And then I went and got a spray tan, and it felt like I had scurvy in my poos.
Unknown Speaker
In your poo.
Tiffany Singleton
Bad move. I was. Bad move. I had this waxist who was just the sweetest thing, and she was awesome, super fun gal. And I asked where she's from. I'm trying to get my mind off of the hellfire that's beginning on my post.
Unknown Speaker
Horrible.
Tiffany Singleton
And she was like, I'm born and raised in la and I love it here. And she just went on and on and on about the people and the food and how it felt to walk around her community and how much she loved it. She joked she's like, the reason you probably don't like LA is when you come. You're just doing entertainment industry stuff.
Unknown Speaker
True. And it's transactional.
Tiffany Singleton
Yes. And she's like, but that's not the heart of Los Angeles. And I thought, oh, wow, you're so right. And it really pushed me to be introspective and be like, man. Now, granted, I often. I'm a comedian, so I exaggerate. I do things for the bit. But frankly and truly and deeply, I was like, let's apply this thought that I've been musing on for a while about approaching all things, all places, all people with a general sense of curiosity if I don't understand them or get them if I don't connect with them off the jump instead of then allowing myself to slide into disdain, instead refocus that into curiosity. You may just stay in a place of curiosity about it or ever, and.
Unknown Speaker
Never really get the answer. Yeah, yeah. But that's better than being closed off to your point.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. Because then once you start to hate something or someone or someplace, you know, all hope is lost for you to ever fully understand it.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
Whoa.
Unknown Speaker
That was really deep. Okay. Drew Barrymore. We love Drew.
Tiffany Singleton
So that was a compliment. This is a deep episode.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hold on now.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. To people who I. I understand people that are like, I don't get the Met Gala. This is so silly. And yes, I made jokes at the beginning. Cause they're funny.
Unknown Speaker
We all do. It's funny.
Tiffany Singleton
So, yes, we can make jokes. And I think there are so many people out there who are like, I don't get fashion. I don't get this. And I understand how you feel, because it's something I'm still learning about. But my friendship with you, I'm so grateful for it for so many reasons. But one of the things is, you've totally opened me up to this, and I'm so glad that I remained curious.
Unknown Speaker
Yay.
Tiffany Singleton
Because I want to learn more, and I want to be open to this, and I want to hear about this. And I knew. I know how important this met is as a black woman in America. And so to be able to appreciate it all the more thanks to you has been really cool.
Unknown Speaker
So I'm insisting our next friend date we go and see the museum. We're gonna go see the exhibit.
Tiffany Singleton
The exhibit.
Unknown Speaker
Yep.
Tiffany Singleton
Okay, let's go.
Unknown Speaker
Let's go. We'll do it. We'll make a day of it. We'll head to the east side.
Tiffany Singleton
Love it. I personally love them at museums. I go all the time. I'm though. I love the romanticism era.
Unknown Speaker
Okay, what parks? Because I know the layout, but I don't know where, like, the name of the exact exhibit. So where is this in the example?
Tiffany Singleton
So I just love their paintings.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, just in general?
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. In general.
Unknown Speaker
Yep.
Tiffany Singleton
I love.
Unknown Speaker
Is, like, Monet a romantic. Okay.
Tiffany Singleton
Okay. Yeah. Well, no, Monet is a surrealist, I believe.
Unknown Speaker
So who's romantic? Like, tell me.
Tiffany Singleton
Romanticism is frankly, like, if I were to really, really sum this up now. Any art history majors listening to this podcast. Leave me alone. I took one course, and it wasn't even in English on this.
Unknown Speaker
I took speck on my girl's name.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. I took an entire art history French course in French. Okay.
Unknown Speaker
I love that. This is, like, the third time we're fighting somebody imaginary. Put some speck on her name.
Tiffany Singleton
Cause they've been getting mad.
Unknown Speaker
People can't. People can fight. See?
Tiffany Singleton
But, yeah, so romanticism, the best way that I describe it, and this is a wide generalization, but, you know, when you go into any historic building, those photos of, like, naked angels, naked cherubs, and, you know, women with their breasts.
Unknown Speaker
Out, and then they're very full and.
Tiffany Singleton
Supple and have, like, bodies, and they're sitting on a table of grapes. And then there's a man going. And then there's a dog. There's a random hound.
Unknown Speaker
Always a dog.
Tiffany Singleton
There's a dog standing there, and he's got this haunted look on his face.
Unknown Speaker
Historic dog.
Tiffany Singleton
Cause nobody ever painted dogs, right?
Unknown Speaker
No.
Tiffany Singleton
And then there's a bunch of little kids that are floating. Yeah, that's. That's romanticism.
Unknown Speaker
That's romanticism. But the art history majors would be like, she's right. She's right.
Tiffany Singleton
So I. Yeah, it's a really fascinating. There's a lot. And I could go into it. But I'm not gonna go. This is not an art history podcast. But now.
Unknown Speaker
You know what I did love, though? Going through the Louvre with you was so much fun. I've never had more fun in a museum in my life. That shit was great. We had a blast. We had a blast. We should do it again. Let's just do it. We'll just do little things. Little bops, little moments.
Tiffany Singleton
Little bops.
Unknown Speaker
We'll grab a coffee, some wine.
Tiffany Singleton
Some wine. You know, you can have a little wine at the museum.
Unknown Speaker
I didn't know that.
Tiffany Singleton
A little wine.
Unknown Speaker
A little wine at the museum. We go and we have a good time. That's what we'll do.
Tiffany Singleton
A museum date is great, actually. In the middle of winter. It's one of my favorite girl dates. If you don't want to spend a ton of money.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
I have a friend. Her name's Hannah. Love you, Hannah. I don't know, I think she's been listening to the pie a little bit. She's. Mine's my girl. Love, Hannah. Ryan Reynolds here from Mint Mobile. Unknown Speaker
Hannah's at the party. Yeah, Hannah.
Tiffany Singleton
Hannah. She's beautiful.
Unknown Speaker
Great, great, great.
Tiffany Singleton
Now Hannah and I. She's that friend who I love. You won't talk. You won't. We don't talk every day. We don't text all the time. But when we do get together, it's like nothing. No time has passed and it's meaningful and it's Meaningful. And we just catch up, and she and I, in the middle of winter, I just was like, let's just go to the Museum of Natural History. Cause it's so cold out in New York, you cannot walk outside. So we go for a walk, but just in a museum.
Unknown Speaker
That is so cute.
Tiffany Singleton
We walked it for. We did like, five loops of the same thing for about three hours.
Unknown Speaker
Just talking a great time.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. Looking at taxidermied Buffalo. It was great.
Unknown Speaker
That's brilliant. Is the Natural Museum of History also one that you can pay? If you're a New York resident? You pay whatever you want your entry fee to be.
Tiffany Singleton
All museums in Manhattan. I don't know if it's in the state of New York, but I know it's in Manhattan. All museums in New York City, if you're a resident, so long as you can show proof. Maybe you guys don't understand. In New York City, most museums. From all the museums I've been to you. So long as you can show proof of residency. I don't have a New York State id. I need one.
Unknown Speaker
I just show an Amazon receipt.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. I show my Con Edison bill.
Unknown Speaker
There you go.
Tiffany Singleton
And they can compare it to, like, the name on your credit card. So long as you can prove that you live in New York City some way, somehow you pay what you'd like. It's a choice donation.
Unknown Speaker
It's like a. Yes, a donation. I love that. I love that for the people, art should be accessible.
Tiffany Singleton
But I always do the donation, by the way. I'm not, you know.
Unknown Speaker
You don't want to get in for free.
Tiffany Singleton
I don't want to get for free. I want to make sure I support the art. Yeah. But listen, if I'm getting five of my friends in.
Unknown Speaker
$5 here or there is, you know, not bad. 10, 15, 20, 30.
Tiffany Singleton
20, 30. I do like a 20, 30, so. Great.
Unknown Speaker
Cause I had to up the number just to see what it was.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. Just a little bit.
Unknown Speaker
60, 50. Yeah. Cause I also, hey, listen, the Met.
Tiffany Singleton
Gal made a ton of money. I don't. If I go to the Met Museum after I know that they had the Met Gala and they raised like a gajillion bazillion dollars, and they're like, do you want to donate? I'm like.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, $5. 5.
Tiffany Singleton
I mean, let me see my account set up. I gotta check my wally real quick.
Unknown Speaker
I gotta make a transfer to the one to get back to the other.
Tiffany Singleton
Let me. I gotta go.
Unknown Speaker
I'll do that while I.
Tiffany Singleton
Hold on. Because, you know, Chase Will text me and say it's fraud. So I gotta make sure they know.
Unknown Speaker
I'm work that out. But if y' all just hand me that ticket, I'll be fine. And then I'll come back.
Tiffany Singleton
I'll come back and I'll let you know. I'm gonna do Pay as you go.
Unknown Speaker
Exactly. Pay as you go.
Tiffany Singleton
It's Pay as yous go.
Unknown Speaker
Just write that down in my tab and we'll be good to go.
Tiffany Singleton
Oh, so it's pay as you go.
Unknown Speaker
Uh huh. The woman's like, do you want to.
Tiffany Singleton
Make a donation or not?
Unknown Speaker
You're having this conversation by yourself. I got a question.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
So you're reading the Ever King and we haven't gotten properly into it. So weeks ago I was reading. When was this? About a month ago, maybe two months ago. Yeah, I started reading a random book, the Evergame Smut Update. Smut update. Started reading it. I immediately was like, taryn, you gonna eat this up.
Tiffany Singleton
So Tiffany texts me, girl, I'm on 2% of a new romance novel. And. And you are gonna love it. You have to read it. So I finally got around to reading it the other night and I opened it to the second page and it said content warnings, descriptive scenes of torture, family, abandonment, explicit sexual content. Gore, violence, mutilation. This isn't funny. Sorry. Bullying. Immediately I'm like, what part of this was like. Tiffany was like, oh yeah, 2% dark themes. Murder, anxiety, kidnapping, traumatic brain inj. From torture. Yeah. It's called the Ever King by L.J. andrews.
Unknown Speaker
Thank you, L.J. andrews. Okay. That's why I started to read it. I've read a couple. A couple of LJ Andrews. Try saying that three times fast. I've read a couple of Andrews. I can't do it once. I've read a couple of L.J. andrews books in the past and was intrigued by this one. I started, I said, oh yeah, she gonna eat this up. I finish, I get to book two. I said, oh yes, you really gonna eat this up? And you never read it. So then you text me the other night and what happened?
Tiffany Singleton
I text her, I said, sos, I'm getting my nails done. I call it nail jail. Cause you're stuck in the jail of nails. You can't do anything.
Unknown Speaker
Trapped.
Tiffany Singleton
I get my candle out and I swipe with my nose.
Unknown Speaker
Do you?
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. The ladies think it's so funny. The ladies think it is so funny. All the ladies in the salon laugh at me.
Unknown Speaker
That is so sad.
Tiffany Singleton
And they're like, oh, you can turn the Page. I'm like, I'm good.
Unknown Speaker
Do you have the Kindle? Or you're on your phone.
Tiffany Singleton
I'm on my phone. I have Kindle on my phone. And so I lean forward on the table with my hands out like this.
Unknown Speaker
That is so fucking genius, Taryn. Wow. Cause I just piss everybody off by swiping every now and again. I'm gonna do the nose. But you know they have those little remotes. We gotta get your little remote.
Tiffany Singleton
But my hands are still being used. Is my fingers on top of the remote while they're getting. I just want to inconvenience my nail tech.
Unknown Speaker
So the nose, you swipe. Mm.
Tiffany Singleton
I text you and I said, what's the name of that book that you want me to read? Poor Tiffany Scheck's back. She goes, taryn, I don't know what you're talking about. I said, damn, you're right. I don't know if this is gonna help narrow it down. But I said, it's not the Sigma Alpha Wolf book that you were talking about.
Unknown Speaker
I keep recommending this really taboo series to Terrence. She Wolverine, it's too bad. And I'm like, could it be? And she's like, no, it's not actually.
Tiffany Singleton
I said, I don't think this narrows it down. All I know is it has to do with the guy that's a king, but that's most smuts. And I said, this doesn't help at all. Tiffany said, back in all caps. I know exactly what you mean. The ever king. So I immediately download it. I spent all day yesterday reading it. I'm 80% through now.
Unknown Speaker
It's addictive.
Tiffany Singleton
It is so good.
Unknown Speaker
The pace is perfect. This is where Quicksilver fell flat for me. It was too much. This is quick. The world is building. The sex is sexing, the romance is Manson.
Tiffany Singleton
You know what else I appreciate?
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
Is that she is in a fantasy world that's like medieval timey. Y similar to Quicksilver.
Unknown Speaker
Correct.
Tiffany Singleton
But she uses actual flowery old school language. Yes. People aren't using the word like idiot. Fuck idiot. There's like quippy language.
Unknown Speaker
It's bantery, but in a way that makes sense for the world. I ate it down so good. So what? I forgot his name. What's the pirate king's name?
Tiffany Singleton
Eric with a K. Eric.
Unknown Speaker
Very, very attractive. I imagine him with a durag and a gold tooth. A durag, a gold tooth and a ped leg.
Tiffany Singleton
And a gold dupe. I imagine with a durag.
Unknown Speaker
A durag.
Tiffany Singleton
I bet you do.
Unknown Speaker
I did. Yeah. He fine. I like his little limp.
Tiffany Singleton
Oh, he did have a.
Unknown Speaker
He did have a limp.
Tiffany Singleton
A bad leg.
Unknown Speaker
He did have a bad leg, yeah. Are you gonna read book two, then, girl, tonight?
Tiffany Singleton
I can't wait. Oh, yeah. Alec is like, what you doing, T? I said, if you even breathe near me right now, I will go apeshit.
Unknown Speaker
Back up.
Tiffany Singleton
I am in an amazing dream world.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
And you are eating soup near me.
Unknown Speaker
Soup.
Tiffany Singleton
I love my husband. It's true. But he. I love my husband. He comes home and I'm deep in pirate world. I'm having a great time locked in this man, literally. I highlighted. I highlighted. I highlighted here. I'm on page 319. I am in your hands. I'm at your command. For you have made me love you, and you will be my destruction because of it. He reads that just in that moment, Crow, my husband comes in, in all his mortality. Hey, baby T, guess what? I almost shit my pants today.
Unknown Speaker
And I know you not lying, too.
Tiffany Singleton
And I'm looking at him like. He goes, no, it's crazy, T. Listen, I'm on my bike, right? And I thought it was a fort. Turns out it wasn't a fort. It was almost shit. Could you imagine? Anyways, lucky, I always bring another pair of shorts in my bag, so it would have been cool. I probably would've. He keeps going.
Unknown Speaker
I know.
Tiffany Singleton
I probably would have just thrown the other shorts away if I had poopy enough. Although they are really expensive. They were nice. They're my new Nike ones.
Unknown Speaker
They.
Tiffany Singleton
And I've been trying to wear underwear more lately, so it would have been okay. But then I would have had that poopy shorts in my bag. And remember what happened last time when that happened at Wild Waves and we forgot the poopy shorts? Come back, I'm sitting there like this.
Unknown Speaker
Men in the mortal realm become real disgusting when they're real disgusting.
Tiffany Singleton
And I'm sitting there and I'm like, are you done? And he's like, what? What did I do? I missed you, babe. And he's like, I missed you. How was your day? He comes over, he kisses me on the head. He kisses the dog. He goes, I missed you both so much. Do you want to go on a walk?
Unknown Speaker
No. Take your shitty pants out here, please.
Tiffany Singleton
Damn, I'm about to write up a postnut. You just pissed me off so bad.
Unknown Speaker
You gonna stop threatening that man Durag and a go to Durag. Gonna go too rag to go do Rhett Sounds solidarity.
Tiffany Singleton
Rhett Sounds solidarity. Absolutely. Love, my husband. And when I came to, like, I came out of that fantasy world, I was like, oh, I love my husband.
Unknown Speaker
He's great.
Tiffany Singleton
And I don't know why this also, mind you, he is a murderous pirate king.
Unknown Speaker
I know.
Tiffany Singleton
Who also has kidnapped her.
Unknown Speaker
I was just gonna say some dubious activities.
Tiffany Singleton
Yes. My husband would never.
Unknown Speaker
He wouldn't kidnap you. He wouldn't do that. Cause he's a good man.
Tiffany Singleton
He's a good man, Savannah.
Unknown Speaker
He's a good man.
Tiffany Singleton
So let's just leave it at that.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
Ladies, try to be easy on your real husbands when you're reading about book husbands.
Unknown Speaker
Mortal men are good too.
Tiffany Singleton
They're good too. Not all of them.
Unknown Speaker
Not all of them. Some of them fall.
Tiffany Singleton
Not many of them, but some of them. I happen to be married to one.
Unknown Speaker
That's good.
Tiffany Singleton
He's a good guy. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
I happen to ruin the lives of a few in the. I'm just kidding.
Tiffany Singleton
Keep that in.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
Oh.
Unknown Speaker
Anyway, maybe we should propose. Cause you said you wouldn't want to read the prequel. But we have to, because. Let's read. Yes. Let's just do for book club next time.
Tiffany Singleton
Well, we also. I would say yes. We did promise the audience that we would let them choose the next book club.
Unknown Speaker
I didn't do that.
Tiffany Singleton
Yes, you did. You did.
Unknown Speaker
You did. When you said that, I was like, oh, really? Yes.
Tiffany Singleton
You didn't want to do that.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, I didn't think about it.
Tiffany Singleton
Tiffany doesn't want to give y' all.
Unknown Speaker
Sorry. I mean, maybe somebody just vote for the prequel to the ever king, and then maybe it'll make its way in.
Tiffany Singleton
Okay, so, boom, in the comments of this video, it'll be me.
Unknown Speaker
I write it in. I make a fake account like this.
Tiffany Singleton
Comment forever king, and their count is gold tooth and a durag.
Unknown Speaker
And a gold tooth and a durag. So you said you have a story. Crazy story that happened at the Neely.
Tiffany Singleton
I'm gonna move really quick, but it's crazy.
Unknown Speaker
Tell me.
Tiffany Singleton
All right. Yeah. I was in Brooklyn. Oh, I don't know what I did.
Unknown Speaker
First mistake.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah. I don't know what I was doing there. How to get my hair done. Okay. Before I left for a job. Okay. I had a job and my hair took all day. As you know. You always think your hair appointment's gonna be max three hours, and it ends up being six.
Unknown Speaker
Seven. Yep.
Tiffany Singleton
Every time. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter.
Unknown Speaker
Nope. Nope.
Tiffany Singleton
It doesn't matter what you have done. How about a trim? A little refresh? Seven hours, easy.
Unknown Speaker
Cause Then they start moving you to the back of the line.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
Like, oh, it's fine. Yours is easy. Let me just put in her relaxer real fast. And you're like, okay.
Tiffany Singleton
So anyways, I was in a. And I. And I. I messed up because by the time I got out, it was 7pm I'm in Brooklyn, and I need to get my nails done. There's swamp witch levels. They're grown out. I'm missing a nail. I can't go to set with fingers like that. That's crazy. I can't. And I need to get my nails done. So I'm like, what's open right now? I just start walking into Brooklyn. It's sundown, babe. Like, it's nighttime. I find a nail salon. There's two ladies inside. I come in, and I immediately go, are you guys open? And they were like, well, what do you want? And I'm like, I just. I need my nails. I need my nails done. Here's what I have. I do the gel x they take me. But already the girl who comes to do my nails, I can tell sp pissed. They're speaking in another language. They're mad. And I'm sitting there like, you should just let me know. I. I'm sorry. Now I feel bad. I didn't pressure them to take me at all, but they said yes and then resented me for the rest of the night, which I also understand.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
Anyways, so I'm sitting there and she's going. She's got my feet right, you know, she go in on my calluses. I thought she was going to take my whole foot off, but I don't.
Unknown Speaker
Look like a Mr. Potato Head. Yes. Thank you.
Tiffany Singleton
Literally. Oh, my God. But I can't complain because I understand. I worked in retail jobs. I worked in jobs with the public. I know ain't nothing worse how you're like, now I have to stay open for you, and this sucks. I'm so sorry. So I don't complain. I don't say a word. I'm just quietly being battered. There's a woman in the seat next to me. She finished her toes hours ago. She's just sitting there watching TikTok videos on the loudest volume. Not only that, she's watching fight videos. Like world star, like people fighting.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, my God.
Tiffany Singleton
And so next to me, I'm sitting in there getting battered. She's in the massage chair, feet out, just.
Unknown Speaker
Oh, no, no, no, no, Sarkeesha, no, no.
Tiffany Singleton
Oh, my God. And then she scrolls. It's like her for you page was only fight videos. I was like, how have you found so many fight videos? So this is not a relaxing experience. No, that's fine. I don't deserve one because I came late.
Unknown Speaker
You were the last day.
Tiffany Singleton
That's what I get. But I'm curious, like, why don't you.
Unknown Speaker
Go home or put on headphones, diva.
Tiffany Singleton
That's crazy. Very rude. In my opinion.
Unknown Speaker
Nothing triggers me more than the sound of like, like the continuous scroll in between.
Tiffany Singleton
And she's sitting in the chair just with a look on her face, just like chilling, rude, mad. Anyways, I don't say anything to her.
Unknown Speaker
Uh huh.
Tiffany Singleton
Then it's time for my nails. Girl sits down in the chair next to me. Pow. And by the way, in the back of this nail salon, that is when I actually lock eyes. With a dirty mattress on its side being stored in the wax room. And it has a huge yellow dark skin in the middle of it. And I had this thought where I was like, I don't know who sanitary this is.
Unknown Speaker
That's okay, I may get gangrene.
Tiffany Singleton
I was like, I'm not sure she's mad at her. Also, the chair is 60% duct tape. It's like. I'm like, it's crazy.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah, yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
But got to give it to him. They were fast. She's moving. Here's the part of the story that you're not gonna believe. Actually, I think I texted you when it happened. I don't know. I've never had this happen in my life. Okay, she's doing my cuticles, cutting them. And again, speaking to the other nail tech who's doing something differently in another language. I don't know what they're talking about. That's okay, I don't mind. It's none of my business what they're talking about. I'm gonna let them do their job. Halfway through, she's cutting my cuticles. I've never seen this in my life. She takes the cuticle cutters, leans back in the chair for just a moment and cuts some of her own cuticles.
Unknown Speaker
That is so unsanitary. Taryn. Taryn.
Tiffany Singleton
Now mind you, I'm very savage. Booking.
Unknown Speaker
You're from Washington?
Tiffany Singleton
I'm from Washington.
Unknown Speaker
You don't say much.
Tiffany Singleton
I'm also a pussy. But she comes back in. Oh, that's so cool. And I pulled my hand back and I said, do you think that you could use some alcohol? She blinks at me and she's kind of like. And she's just like, no. We do that. And then she said, no, we do alcohol last. We do that after. And I said, yeah, but. And now I'm pointing. She acts like that didn't just happen.
Unknown Speaker
So she's like, what do you mean?
Tiffany Singleton
She. She's looking at me like, she didn't just do that. I start to think maybe I imagined it. And she goes, fine. And now she's speaking even more with.
Unknown Speaker
Her friends now, you know she's talking about you.
Tiffany Singleton
Oh, God, it burns. And I'm like. And she looks at me like, yeah, it hurts. Huh? Goes back in with the same cuticle cutters and finishes my thumb, puts those down and sprays it again with alcohol. I did not get a nail infection, so I'm fine. I never went back to that place. This has now been like a month or two. So it was fine.
Unknown Speaker
That is.
Tiffany Singleton
But I've never seen that happen before. That was really upsetting to me.
Unknown Speaker
That's.
Tiffany Singleton
What would you guys do? Would you say? I mean, I think everyone in the comments is gonna be like, yeah, I would say something.
Unknown Speaker
But in that moment, it's hard. I don't like to be disrespected, but I'm always consistently disrespected in a hair braiding salon uptown. And they do very questionable things too. Mattresses, dirty shit all over the place. You can't walk, hair weave all over the floor. People knees out, babies crying. If you paint the picture, it's a terrible experience. They're using the same comb to part my head that they parted somebody else's head with. There's no barbicide in sight. It is disgusting. I love New York, and I risk it every time.
Tiffany Singleton
She used a Metro card to pry that shirt to pry my nail off. I didn't mind that, though. I was like. And then she shoved it back where it came from. She put it back with a bunch of other stuff in, like, her utility belt.
Unknown Speaker
Lord Jesus.
Tiffany Singleton
Mm.
Unknown Speaker
Taryn.
Tiffany Singleton
But.
Unknown Speaker
But you gotta get your nails done.
Tiffany Singleton
You get your nails done anytime, and only in New York can you get them done anytime of day.
Unknown Speaker
Nothing makes me happier. Cause I can wake up at like 11pm and be like, yeah, I need my hair done for church or something.
Tiffany Singleton
And, man, it was the cheapest manicure I've ever had done. And I tipped him super well.
Unknown Speaker
That's what gets me about you. You tip 90%.
Tiffany Singleton
I do. I'm a good person.
Unknown Speaker
When they basically took you by the shoulders and tossed you out the door.
Tiffany Singleton
And you're like, they were so mean to me the whole time.
Unknown Speaker
That's good. Though.
Tiffany Singleton
And then I tipped them, and then they all of a sudden were like, come back.
Unknown Speaker
Cause you have.
Tiffany Singleton
They were like, thank you so much for coming. And I said, yeah, I'm sorry I was late. Oh, don't worry about it. And I was just like, yeah, yeah, thanks. Well, my right hand is swollen. Bye.
Unknown Speaker
Well, now you know, if you ever need to go back somewhere, they will stay open late for you and they will remember you. You tipped well.
Tiffany Singleton
So anyways, anyone in the comments, you guys, have you ever had a crazy experience? Salon, nail salon, all that? Did you say anything? Did you just let it rock? Were you not sure, like me?
Unknown Speaker
Are you better than us? And you said something. I want to know the ratio.
Tiffany Singleton
Truly, I do. I think almost everyone, though. My vote is that almost everyone would just say something and be respectful about it. I don't know why. And it's funny. I would stand up. I have no issues speaking up for the person next to me. I really am comfortable doing that anytime.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
If you don't like your food at the restaurant, I'm not gonna be mean, but I'll be really comfortable. Like, no, we can send this back in a respectful way and say, like, if you not like. It's not. I don't think it's okay if you do. If you don't like it, but, like, if. If it's inedible. If it's inedible or it is not what you order. I'm very comfortable being like, oh, I'll say something. And I'm like, excuse me, my friend. Actually, I understand there was a miscommunication, but she didn't get the chicken burger. I'm so sorry, but can we. Can we figure this out? I don't mind if it's me. I'm about to eat the chicken burger.
Unknown Speaker
Oh.
Tiffany Singleton
Ow.
Unknown Speaker
Ow.
Tiffany Singleton
Sad.
Unknown Speaker
Is that what you. Nope. But that's okay. I like it.
Tiffany Singleton
Ow. But if it's someone else, I don't know why. Why is it hard for me to. I have. I will admit on the pod, I have a harder time standing up for myself, but I have no problem standing up for somebody else.
Unknown Speaker
Well, that just speaks to the kind of person you are. You're good peoples. You're good peoples.
Tiffany Singleton
I'm posing.
Unknown Speaker
And you don't like to be difficult, too. That may be it. It's not being difficult when you're speaking on behalf of someone else. It seems like it's difficult, though, if.
Tiffany Singleton
You'Re speaking on behalf of yourself. I don't wanna. Yeah, I don't. I'M afraid of the perception that I'm difficult.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah. And I'll be like, well, I guess I'm difficult, but only in restaurants will I do that. In hair salons and nail salons, I'm oddly silent. Like, I'll.
Tiffany Singleton
Yeah.
Unknown Speaker
I'll watch myself get something done that I hate. And I won't say a damn thing.
Tiffany Singleton
Really?
Unknown Speaker
And walk right out and be like, it just is what it is.
Tiffany Singleton
I know. I actually hate that.
Unknown Speaker
Yeah.
Tiffany Singleton
But anyways, yeah, you guys chime in. I love. I love reading the comments on YouTube, especially.
Unknown Speaker
YouTube has the best comments, I will say.
Tiffany Singleton
And they're usually longer and. Yeah. And they surprise me. And I really love. It feels that we are in community and that's been really fun.
Unknown Speaker
Speaking of which, we loved seeing everybody's comments on book club. I mean, a wild success, I would say. Baby's first book club. We did pretty damn well. I know the book was long. Sorry, y' all. But for the most, what I did love, though, I will say this. When people didn't read it, or for those that didn't read it, they're like, we didn't need to. Because the recap was so comprehensive and so funny. So I'm like, all right, true. So we'll choose something shorter next time, for sure.
Tiffany Singleton
But I think I underestimated how many people would be down to watch an episode, even if they didn't necessarily read the book.
Unknown Speaker
Me, too. I was very surprised.
Tiffany Singleton
That was really fun, though.
Unknown Speaker
That was one of my favorites.
Tiffany Singleton
I was like, what if we just.
Unknown Speaker
Become a full smut podcast to start reviewing things? Why not?
Tiffany Singleton
Why not? Yeah. I'm down. God, I love you so much. I'm so happy we got an episode in this week.
Unknown Speaker
Me, too. Well, I love you, friend. I miss you.
Tiffany Singleton
I love you. I love you, baby.
Unknown Speaker
I love you, baby.
Tiffany Singleton
Sit down, Ms. Houston. With that. We love you guys. And remember, we're girls. Cause we're your girls. Hey.
Unknown Speaker
Because I like how you do.
