What's the reality? What's the reality? Hey, you guys, it's me, Ad. Welcome to another episode of what's the Reality? I am sitting down with my boy Freddie from Love is Blind UK season one.
B
Oh, it's a pleasure.
A
And Perfect match.
B
Yeah, I'm perfect match. Don't forget that.
A
My co star.
B
Exactly. Yeah. How are you? Oh, yeah, I'm buzzy and I'm happy. Buzzy means happy.
A
Oh, thank you. Keep breaking it down.
B
I might have to, like, keep, like, telling you the lingo.
A
Yeah, I've picked up a few words because of O, but, well, we don't. I don't know. Don't put me on the spot.
B
I'll put you on the spot.
A
No, like, when you say something, I'll. I'll probably know what you're saying.
B
Okay, then. Yeah, I might test you through the podcast.
A
Okay. I might test you, actually.
B
Okay.
A
Okay. We'll see. So, Freddie, what have you been up to since we saw you on Perfect Match?
B
Seems perfect match. Just back to normal life for me. Like, you know me. Back to normal life. Funeral, directing, working friends, family. Yeah, just. Just the norm, really. Nothing out of the ordinary.
A
I love it.
B
Not as extravagant as you. Not as extravagant as you.
A
No, I know. We. We took it and ran with it, didn't we? Yeah.
B
Don't blame you, though. Don't blame. You got a rock on your finger.
A
I know. And a baby.
B
And a big baby. Oh, exciting.
A
No, this is not about me.
B
No, it's not.
A
It's not about me. So. Okay, let's. Let's catch up a little bit. Last time I saw you in Tulum. You were telling us haunted stories about your business.
B
I think you were quite scared.
A
I was terrified. I went to bed. I left.
B
You did leave.
A
I did leave. It was so scary. No.
B
Okay.
A
So basically there was this night in Tulum and we lost power. The power went out. It was a crazy storm. And our boy Freddie thought it would be the perfect time to tell ghost stories about all his.
B
Yeah.
A
Bodies.
B
About his bodies. Making it sound like I've got him in my garage or something. No, literally, I was telling stories about, like, things of experience, wasn't I?
A
Yeah. And I got really scared.
B
You did get scared?
A
Yeah, I did. I was like.
B
No, I was cute.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
Know that one with the tear that you told me?
B
Oh, yeah, that was.
A
We won't bring that. That was too much.
B
Yeah. Some crazy stories. Listen, at the end of the day, this is how I see it. Right. Okay. So I think, like, the subjects of, like, afterlife and things like that is very, like, people. We don't know, do we?
A
Yeah, we don't know.
B
I have a. I have an opinion, I think. And that is that categorically I know that there is something that we can't explain.
A
Yeah.
B
And that's because I've experienced it, I've seen it. So I know there is something that defies science. But I don't know whether it's an afterlife. I don't know whether it's ghosts. I don't know if it's a spirit. So. Don't know if it's, like, energy.
A
Yeah.
B
But there is most definitely something that we can't explain. And I know that for facts. I don't need to convince anybody.
A
You're giving me chills. Now I'm getting scared again.
B
That's it.
A
Yeah.
B
So basically, if you wake up in the middle of the night and you feel like there's someone there. There probably is. That's a joke. That's a joke. Are you telling me that's a joke? That's a joke.
A
Oh, my God.
B
No, that's a joke.
A
No, you're not. You really mean that?
B
I don't mean that.
A
Yes, you do.
B
I don't mean that.
A
Oh, my God.
B
Yeah, I'm joking. I'm winding you up. You know me, I'm British.
A
Like, you know when you go to sleep in that pile of clothes is in the corner, but. And it looks like a body when you wake up?
B
Yeah.
A
Was it probably a body or. It's possible.
B
It could be.
A
Okay, so what is your reaction when you tell people, like, women, what is the Usual reaction when you tell women that that's the business you're in.
B
So obviously, yeah. If I. If I say to, you know, if I'm speaking to a girl and they say, oh, what you do say? My funeral director.
A
Yeah.
B
Most of them think I'm probably gonna, like. I don't know, like, bury him. I think on. On this. On the show, actually, on Love is Blind.
A
Yeah.
B
The reaction I was getting when I was saying funeral director was wild. Like, people were saying, oh, my God, you're a funeral. What I'm thinking, like, getting off. Put off by it.
A
Yeah.
B
So that's why I said. I think I said on. On. On the. On the. One of my first interactions with the girl that he ended up sort of presuming my journey with.
A
Yeah, Yeah.
B
I said, I'm not gonna embarram you.
A
Yeah.
B
You know what I mean? It's like, what. What is wrong? Why are people so scared?
A
Yeah, I think.
B
I think I'm gonna bury him or something. No, it's like, no, I'm not gonna do that. That's later on in the relationship if you get nasty.
A
You know what's actually really cool? Is that your outfit, that uniform with the top hat?
B
Oh, yeah.
A
I think that's pretty cool.
B
Oh, that's very. That's a very traditional sort of thing.
A
Yeah.
B
I don't. I don't know what the outfit is in. In the US but that is a very sort of traditional kind of outfit that's, like, upheld and just seen as, like, a mark of respect.
A
Yeah, yeah.
B
Top hat, cane, very old tails.
A
Yeah. You wear it very well.
B
Oh.
A
Very respectful to the families.
B
I was going to bring it to Tulum, actually. I was going to wear it on my first date. Going to wear it on my date with Madison.
A
She would have loved that. So much love that. Okay, so we saw that you actually climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
For the Down Syndrome association in February in support of your brother Jack. Tell us about that experience.
B
Oh, you know what? I wasn't expecting that. Oh, that's so sweet. Thank you. Yeah. Do you know what, like, the. The Down Syndrome association, they do so much for people with condition, like, with. With, you know, my brother's situation, people with down syndrome. I had to raise awareness and support people like him, you know, get into work and just raise awareness, really, and support the cause. But, yeah, they need as much money as they can get to, obviously, you know, carry. Carry the organization on and Kilimanjaro. I. You know, when I signed up for that Genuinely, I just thought, okay, it's gonna be hard.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, six days. It's gonna be difficult.
A
Yeah.
B
I knew that.
A
Yeah.
B
But what I was not prepared for was just how mentally challenging it was. It wasn't just a case of, oh, this is a long walk.
A
Yeah.
B
Do you know what I mean? It was literally. It was literally mentally challenging.
A
Yeah.
B
Because it's just the same thing. One foot in front of the other for 14 hours a day.
A
Oh, my goodness.
B
It was. It was horrendous. Yeah. Well, you camp. You camp. Yeah.
A
On the mountain.
B
Yeah. And that was the. The air is so thin.
A
Yeah.
B
That you can't. It depends. It's surprising, you know, because if you're a smoker, you find it easier because you're used to intaking, like, less oxygen. So if you're, like, a fit person. Yeah. You find it more challenging.
A
I can imagine.
B
And I. When I was at the top, it was just the most difficult thing, the bot. When you're at the bottom, it was like. I think. Well, I don't know what it is in Fahrenheit. I don't know. I only know Celsius.
A
Yeah. We can convert it.
B
You can?
A
Yeah.
B
It was like, say, 35 degrees. I don't know what that is in Fahrenheit. I'm so sorry.
A
That's okay.
B
And then at the top, it was in the minus. So at the bottom, it was like, I'm getting sunburned.
A
Yeah. Yeah. 35 is like 100. Is it Fahrenheit or, like, night? Like high 90s Fahrenheit.
B
It was hot anyway.
A
Yeah.
B
And then at the top, it was in the minus, and there was snow, like, up to your knee.
A
Oh, my God. Yeah.
B
It's crazy. It's crazy. The contrast, like, it was unbelievable.
A
In how many days?
B
It's six in total.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
And then six. Like, to go up and down.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
Wow.
B
Yeah.
A
I wouldn't have made it. No way in hell.
B
Well, not now. You're pregnant, but not pregnant.
A
Pregnant. I wouldn't have made it. I wouldn't have even been there.
B
No, I think you could have. I think you could have. It's more of like. Yeah. Do you know what, Carrie? All right, I'm not. Right. I am not being cheesy here. Just say cheeser in the U.S. yeah. I'm not being cheesy. Like, this is genuinely, like, me being legit. What carried me through, Right. Is that knowing that people had donated and, like, giving me, like, amazing messages and obviously, my brother.
A
Yeah.
B
I was thinking of my brother. But that was the reason why. Otherwise, I've been like, I can't do this. Because when I got to the top and I was only, like, 12 hours off doing it, I was just feeling so poorly, and I just thought, I can't do it.
A
Yeah.
B
But I just carried on going, oh, I'm like, yeah, it was amazing. Like, amazing. The team, the people that was involved with everyone that did it, like, incredible, because they all did it as well. And I found it so hard. I found it so hard.
A
Yeah.
B
Like, I understood I underestimated it, but I'm just so proud of myself and the team for completing it and everyone who supported me.
A
Yeah.
B
But thank you for asking. That's so sweet. Like, I wasn't expecting that. So thank you.
A
It's just a little bit more. Besides, like, your brother Jack, why do you feel it's so important to advocate for down syndrome?
B
I think it's important to advocate for any sort of cause like that, any charitable organization or anything that you feel passionate about. Because at the end of the day, you know, I've been blessed in the fact that I've been involved in a TV show that's sort of given me more of a. Of a position to sort of promote what I believe in.
A
And.
B
And not just that, but obviously, you know, you can. You get brand deals and things as well.
A
Yeah.
B
So for me, it was no brainer that I wanted to use that platform to do something good, and that was my main focus. Like, yeah, when I. When I started seeing, obviously, and getting a lot of followers, I thought, right, I'm doing. I want to try and do something. And, yeah, like, just made sense. Support a cause.
A
Yeah.
B
And, yeah, I'm looking at other things as well that I want to try and do.
A
Okay.
B
Yeah. So.
A
Okay. I'm excited to see what that could possibly be. So before we jump into Perfect Match, I just kind of want to talk about Love Is Blind UK since the new season is out.
B
Yeah.
A
What made you decide to sign up for Love Is Blind in the first place?
B
Oh, do you know what this is? Right. This is mad, right? So, like, I'm an open person. I. I tell her. I. I actually. I say too much sometimes.
A
Say it all right here.
B
Yeah, Yeah. I say too much. I say too much. But so do you know what is proper weird? So what happened was it was never my intention to go on a TV show going, love is Blind. I never, like, I wasn't thinking, oh, I want to do that. It just happened. So I was in a Relationship. Okay. And, you know, it didn't work out for whatever reason. And I remember at the time I was in a bad place and this is only. Okay, I feel really bad about this, but it's. I'm open about it. It was only say, like two weeks after I broke up with this person and I was in a bad way. And I remember I was on Tick Tock and I couldn't sleep and I had work next day and you know when you're on your phone because you can't, you know, I know you shouldn't be using your phone trying to sleep, but it's just scrolling. And on Tick Tock it came up Love is Blind UK casting now. Right. And this was only two weeks after I broke up with my X ray and I was looking at it and I thought, I could do that. Right. I can do that. So I just pressed apply.
A
Yeah.
B
And it took me like five minutes. So I submitted an application. I didn't think anything else of it.
A
Yeah.
B
The next day they rang me and they were like, oh, would you be interested in. So I was like, yeah, okay, I'll do an interview. Did that, did that. One thing led to another, one thing led to another and eventually I'm being invited down to London for casting. And I was just like, well, obviously you've gone through similar sort of thing. But then I was just like, this is getting serious now. It's getting serious.
A
Yeah.
B
And, yeah, and they wanted me on the show. And I was like, what? And literally there was literally two months between me breaking up with somebody and then going on my show. And yeah, it was. It was mad. And obviously when I thought about it, did I think I was going to meet anybody? No, I didn't.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, and I've openly said that as well. I did not think I would meet somebody. I thought there's nobody. There's nobody in those pods that are going to be interested in me because am I going to be interested in. Are they going to be. It was just.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, on the competitive thing as well.
A
Yeah, yeah.
B
You know, with other. Like, it's just. Yeah, I was. I was in a bit of a love triangle with Ollie. Batman 1. Do you know what I mean?
A
In the long run, who really won.
B
But yeah, it was. It was wild. It was wild. But, yeah, obviously I went on the show to find my soulmate. Yeah, I did.
A
Did, yeah. So you did end up getting engaged. How difficult was it to say no at the altar? And what was that moment like for you?
B
Yeah, I think yeah. Anyone who's seen the. The series will know that that was very difficult. And the thing is, if love is blind and you can vouch for this, is the emotions you see in a real. That they're real feelings, real emotions. It's not. It's not a. You know, obviously it's produced to an extent to create a storyline, but it is real.
A
Yeah.
B
Those feelings, emotions, what you're seeing is the story of somebody's journey and emotions. And so having to say no at the altar, it was. It was very hard. Yeah, it was very hard. I felt like I was transparent throughout the relationship. And even, you know, albeit, you know, I was transparent, it was still challenging to say no at the end, and my family and friends didn't know what I was going to say. So having them there, yeah, it was. It was hard. It was hard. And, yeah, of course, it was part. There was. There was parts of me. I was pretty confident I was gonna say no when I stood there. But there was still an element of uncertainty.
A
Yeah, you don't know.
B
No, I didn't. And obviously I went and I said no. And, you know, I do believe that was the right decision based on our experiences and things that we had to kind of work on and, you know, mountain. I still feel like, pardon the poem, because we're just talking about Kilimanjaro, but there's still mountains for us to climb and. Yeah, yeah. Hurdles to sort of overcome. And it was definitely the right decision.
A
Yeah. Catherine said that you were really different to her off camera, which is why she was insecure throughout the process. What are your feelings about that?
B
I think she's entitled to feel how she feels.
A
Yeah.
B
Nobody can sort of say a feeling is what. A feeling is subjective to a person. And I could feel a certain way and she could feel a different way.
A
Yeah.
B
And it could be the same situation.
A
Yeah.
B
So if she feels that way, I can't say she didn't. And, you know, all I can say is I was myself throughout, and I'll always be me and I'll never change. So if she feels that way, then she has the right to feel that way. But personally, I'm just me, so.
A
Yeah, good answer, Freddie. And then real quick, so she started dating your castmate Jake from your season. Do you have any thoughts on that or when you found out about that?
B
Well, I can't remember when I found out. I think I found out. I found out quite early. I think it was. Yeah, it's quite soon from what I recall. It's quite soon after we broke up. And, yeah, I was. I was kind of. Obviously, I was upset at the time to an extent, just because it felt a bit close to home, so to speak. But, no, I was. I was happy for her. Yeah. I was like, oh, well, she's found someone she loves and cares about and that's great. Yeah. So I was happy for her.
A
Amazing.
B
Do you guys talk at all, me and Catherine? No, we don't speak. No. Yeah, no, no, we don't speak.
A
Just wishing her the best and moving on.
B
Well, yeah, obviously I don't wish anyone negative feelings. Like, I have no reason to be negative towards anybody, you know, so if things don't work out, there's no need to sort of be. To have sort of bad feelings towards somebody. It's just, you know, she's happy, I'm happy. That's it.
A
That's it. Are you so close with anybody, like, any of your castmates?
B
Besides, I don't like Ben. There's a guy called Benaio. He's a bit of a prick.
A
We love Benaiah.
B
No, everyone. Everyone. Yeah, I love everyone. Yeah.
A
Yeah. What about. There's this one guy, Ollie, he's that. I think he was on your season.
B
Did he make it through soup? Did he make your pasta pods?
A
I don't know. I don't know anything.
B
Yeah, Ollie's sound. I love Ollie. You know that. You know that.
A
You guys are best friends.
B
I love Ollie. Do you know what? When. Oh, I don't know if you might mention this. I don't know, but when? Right, so I did not know that Ollie was going to be on Perfect Match and, like on the reunion for Love Is Blind, I knew at that stage I was going on Perfect Match.
A
Yeah.
B
And Ollie would have known as well.
A
Yeah.
B
But because we're not allowed to sort of disclose it and talk about it, it was just crazy knowing that he was there when I was there. And we're both going to Mexico next.
A
Week and can't talk about it.
B
Can't talk about. I didn't know. I didn't know.
A
That's so funny.
B
And I remember when I got there, when I arrived at the villa on Perfect Match, when I got in the house for the first time and, like, just seeing Ollie there and I was like, what?
A
No, I remember that moment.
B
I was like. I was. I was so happy.
A
I still make fun of him about that day. Oh, yeah. Because he was like, no guys coming in here and taking our spots and we're not welcoming any new guys. Like, he was so, like, standing strong on that, nobody was gonna come in and infiltrate the guys and the brotherhood. And then you walked in the door and he lost his shit. And I was like, oh, is Freddie the exception? And he's like, yeah, Freddie's the exception. Yeah, he was okay with that.
B
Oh, well, there we go.
A
Yeah, he was so happy to see you walk in.
B
Likewise. I was happy to see him.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
I can't believe you guys didn't know. You guys did a good job at keeping no idea.
B
Yeah, Yeah, I think we're. Yeah, I'm. I'm a goody two shoes. So if I'm told not to say something, I won't.
A
Yeah, I. Yeah, I get scared. Especially with NDAs. I'm like, I'm not saying.
B
Oh, no, I wasn't. It's not worth it.
A
Yeah, yeah. Ye. Okay. We found out. While you. How you ended up on Love Is Blind, how did you end up on Perfect Match? Were you going looking for love or just a good time?
B
So when I was casted for Perfect Match, I'll be very honest, I didn't know what the show was. I don't feel like. I don't. I don't feel like I'm just here.
A
Hello.
B
Yeah. Yeah, I didn't know what it was. I never heard of it.
A
And you're like, yeah, sign me up.
B
Well, no, I didn't know what it was at first.
A
Okay.
B
And then I was like, okay, what's it called? Perfect Match. Like, right. I googled it and stuff because in the uk, I. I do feel like it's. It's growing. It's definitely growing. But, yeah, I didn't. I genuinely didn't know what it was. And hopefully this season we've been a lot of Brits in there and obviously with your connection with Ollie and how that's, you know, hopefully it's going to be a bit bigger this year in the uk, but I didn't know what it was. And, yeah, I looked it up and I thought, okay, right. That's what it is. It's. It's like a competitive.
A
Yeah.
B
Love Game show kind of thing. Oh, yeah, it sounds fun.
A
Yeah.
B
And I remember in my casting, I said the whole way through, like, the reason I'm there is so hopefully find somebody. Yeah. So I was very clear in that. Yeah, it's very clear that I do want to find somebody. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A
Oh, Freddie, of course you would say that. Of course you want to find someone. Do you think being on Love Is Blind, say, prepped you to go into perfect match.
B
I'd say to an extent, yes. Because in terms of the cameras and things, so. And like your interviews, I always found the most difficult thing was being interviewed. So sitting there in front of the camera, I didn't mind if the camera was there and I was having a conversation. Yeah, that's fine. But when the camera's in front of you and I'm having to like talk about my day or talk about my.
A
Feelings or talk about like three days prior.
B
Oh no, that's so difficult. Yeah. But yeah, so it definitely helps in that respect. Like I didn't feel uncomfortable anymore.
A
Okay.
B
I felt not. I felt fine about it, so definitely helped. Yeah.
A
What about in the like kind of relationship, dating aspect?
B
Yeah. I think that Love is Blind was such a crazy journey. So it's a mad experience that we can say we've been involved in.
A
Yeah.
B
And what's mad about it is there's only, there's only people that have been involved in that sort of. Involved in that kind of thing that can sort of talk about and say, oh, it's wild. So yeah, it was definitely, it definitely supported me because I knew kind of what I was looking for and what I wasn't looking for. Well, yeah, but I knew what I was. I knew what I was looking for. Like I knew what I didn't want and. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think. Yeah, yeah.
A
So what were your first impressions of everyone or whoever you can remember when you came into the house? Possibility means you have a chance. Passion opens the door to all possibilities.
B
When I feel like anything's possible, I.
A
Feel kind of giddy. I want to be an astronaut, an artist, be an actress, to visit another country. All I need is a backpack and.
B
A pair of shoes and I'll find.
A
A way I'm able to do anything.
B
I set my mind to.
A
I've never felt like more things are possible than right now. In the right shoes, anything is possible. Dsw countless shoes at bragworthy prices. Imagine the possibilities. B
I thought everyone was really attractive. I was like, oh, my God, I'm so out of place.
A
Shut up.
B
No, genuinely, I did. I was like, I'm so out of.
A
Place here in a room full of attractive people. You thought you were out of place?
B
Yeah, I did. I did. I was like, oh, no, okay. No, I did. I did, I did.
A
Ready?
B
But, like, I thought how welcoming everyone was. Yeah, Everyone was so nice. Everyone. Everyone. There wasn't one person that wasn't sort of like, welcoming and supportive. Everyone was so lovely. Yeah. And I couldn't. Yeah. And I was surprised that there was. I think there was four British people. And I was like, wow, I wasn't expecting that. Yeah, so, yeah, that was. That was wild.
A
Yeah. No, you fit right in.
B
Yeah, but I love an American. I love an American accent. I love the Americans. Like, you love the American.
A
Let me hear your accent.
B
Just want to find my perfect match. Just here to find my perfect match. That's why I came on the show.
A
I love how you go automatic to, like, Southern.
B
All right, and I'll do another one. I just want to. I just want to find my perfect match.
A
Oh, there we go. That's the one. You need to practice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It had, like, a little more bass and, like, more serious.
B
Yeah, well, Ollie's got a bassy voice.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
Maybe that's what you like. Yeah, but you're married, so I'm just.
A
Trying to find my perfect.
B
My perfect me.
A
Okay. Was there anyone that you were hoping to see when you walked in or on the show?
B
Like, one of the questions was when you were casted, and you probably asked the same is who on? You know, any other reality TV show?
A
Yeah.
B
Would you love to see there? And I. I didn't have an answer.
A
Yeah.
B
Do you know why I don't watch reality tv?
A
Yeah.
B
Um. Yeah, so I didn't know, but I gave a. I gave a description of, like, what?
A
Of your type.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A
I did the same thing. I was like, I don't know. I don't know anybody. I don't want any of these men. They're all weird. And so I gave a description and then.
B
Yeah.
A
Came on.
B
Did it come true?
A
Yeah.
B
Oh, that's cute.
A
Okay, so you and Madison obviously connected immediately.
B
Yeah.
A
So Perfect Match, filmed before Madison's season of Love is Blind was released. So you didn't know who she was going into this? Um, did you watch her season after when you got home?
B
Um, so, yeah, I think that her. I can't remember when the show came out. It was several months after.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. Did I watch it? Yeah, I watched the pods. Watched the pods. The pods, Yeah, I watched the pods.
A
What'd you think?
B
What did I think of her or the show?
A
Her in the pods?
B
I think it's difficult to say. I don't. I don't. I don't really. It's a tricky one, I think. I think she was her. I think she was her. And with Madison, you'll either love her or you. You'll hate her and she'll be fine with that. She gets. Yeah, you know, it's a balance of kind of love and hate with her and. Yeah, I didn't watch the show before. Obviously it wasn't aired well. Yeah, I think. I think she was her. And you can take what you want from that.
A
Yeah, it was obvious that it was like you and Madison were all in from the start. Was there ever a moment where you were curious to explore connections with someone else but held back because she didn't want to hurt her feelings?
B
I think. I genuinely think that the connection we had was really strong and like, with. I don't think I'm wrong in saying she's not my usual type.
A
Yeah.
B
But I was still attracted to her and our connection was really good. And with me, she was lovely and really kind to me and caring, supportive with. With me. And.
A
Was there anybody else, Freddie in the house? Is there anyone else that you wanted to talk to?
B
Like, don't get me wrong, like, yes, they were. Did I think everyone was attractive? I think everyone was attractive. Like, I can't lie. Yeah, of course. But I'd already started developing a connection with Madison.
A
No, I know how that.
B
And she was on. She was on Love is Blind. Okay. I've not seen a show, but she was on Love is Blind, so I thought she's got a similar mindset to me. The biggest thing really was obviously, I know she was fiery, but I don't mind a fiery girl. Yeah, I've always said that.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah, I don't mind that. I like a bit of passion in a relationship, but, yeah, the distance was an issue that was in the back of my mind. I know you and Olive, you know, made that work. But for me, like, yeah, that was challenging. Cuz I don't Want to leave.
A
Yeah.
B
Manchester, like my family there, my brother's there, and that's my main priority. And. Yeah, so I always had that in the back of mind, but I was seeing the journey as kind of getting to know her and. But, yeah, of course, there were other people that I would have got to know, but it was just Rachel's. Rachel's lovely. Rachel's lovely. Listen, like, all the girls.
A
Yeah.
B
Honestly, I get on with all the girls, and every single one of them is a. Is a. Yeah, we all love you. Oh, thank you. But every single one of them. Every single one of them, like, I would. I would have entertained.
A
Yeah.
B
A conversation and seen where it had gone, because everyone was really beautiful.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
You know what? Remember the day we got snatched out of the house?
B
Oh, yeah. We were so sad.
A
No, that was devastating. So what was going through your head? Because I know I was in shambles. What was going through your head?
B
I was a mixed emotions. Okay. Mix of emotions. So I was really upset. Okay. However, I wasn't sort of. I wasn't angry or anything like that.
A
Yeah.
B
Because I understand the show.
A
It's a.
B
It's a. It's a challenge as well. It's. There's other couples. It's a contest.
A
It's meant to test your relationship.
B
Relationship. People want to win.
A
Yeah.
B
So, yeah, like, I was just like, oh, that just sucks, you know?
A
Yeah.
B
My main concern. Yeah. Was obviously Madison being upset, and the back of mind, of course I was. I. I'd be stupid to say that I wasn't kind of worried that she was going to find a better connection. It wasn't going to be someone that comes in who's, like, better than me and.
A
Yeah.
B
You know, to get me.
A
Yeah.
B
Like, of course. Yes. I was upse. I was kind of thinking, oh, no, I was a bit worried. Yeah, I was. But at the end of the day, like, I'm being genuine now. If she'd have found somebody better that. Because I knew we had a good connection, and if she'd have founded something more suited for her, then I'd have been happy for her.
A
Yeah.
B
I'd have been like, oh, that sucks, you know? You know, that sucks. But I'd have been happy for her, and I would not have sort of been angry or said or anything.
A
No, you're better than me. I would have set the house on fire.
B
Yeah.
A
Game is over.
B
Yeah. Game over.
A
No, I didn't have that reaction. I would. I was devastated. Literally devastated. I was so.
B
I know, I know, I know, I know. You were. I know.
A
Yeah.
B
It's sad to see you upset.
A
No, it was.
B
Yeah.
A
But. But I made my way back in.
B
Yeah. And I think we're all upset. I think everyone was in shock.
A
Yeah.
B
Because we were expecting it.
A
Yeah.
B
They haven't. Did the show hasn't done that before.
A
Right.
B
So that was like. We were all like, wow, if they can do this, they can do anything.
A
It was a compliment, though, that we were the strongest couples. Yeah, that was a compliment.
B
So, yeah, listen, like, I. I think we were the strongest couples. I genuinely do.
A
Yeah.
B
And I loved your connection, you and all. Yeah. I was rooting for you.
A
Thank you. That's. I hate that moment every time I think about it. And then I interviewed right after, and they're like, how you feel? I was like, I'm so sad. I don't want to leave. I can stop crying. Yeah, that was rough. So I guess a lot of people are wondering what happened after we were snatched out of the villa.
B
Snatched out?
A
Snatched. I'm gonna keep saying that because literally kidnapped and thrown into. And if we knew we were coming back on the show at some point. What happened to you?
B
Oh, to me? Well, yeah, we just got. We just got whisked away, didn't we? Yeah, like, right, grab your suitcase, mate.
A
You're off.
B
I was like, what? Yeah, what have I done? So, yeah, grabbed my suitcase, got on the. Got on the. The van. And then. Yeah. I was like, this is wild, because 10 minutes ago I sat in the house, like, thinking, what are we having for my tea?
A
Yeah.
B
And now I'm like, you know. You know, I'm like, yeah, I might have a dip in that swimming pool later.
A
I know. Did you think you were done, or did you know you're coming back?
B
Did I think I was done? I was hopeful I wasn't done, but I didn't know. Yeah, I thought maybe. I thought maybe that's my time's up.
A
I thought it was the end of the world. I did. And I didn't think that they would send Ali on a double date.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
A massage date.
B
Oh, was it.
A
Tough life for him, huh?
B
Yeah. But he was angry about that.
A
Yeah, I bet. He's so sad you went bug out then. Yeah, I did. I sure did. So let's jump back to kind of like the end of the show. What happened after the show ended with you and Madison?
B
So after the show, myself, Madison, we stayed in contact for a brief period. And, yeah, I think that in. Ultimately for me, after kind of discussing things with my family and having sort of, you know, chatting to Madison over time, over the, the few weeks after the show, it just became apparent that maybe it wasn't kind of for me, it wasn't something that I wanted to sort of pursue. And yeah, I think I feel bad because Madison took that in hard way. I know she did.
A
Yeah.
B
But I was just being, I just had to sort of express my feelings and it was a difficult conversation but I just, I just had to sort of say it's not, it's not gonna work for me moving forward. And yeah, like it was difficult but I should be honest with her. And there was just too many things for me that I felt were gonna be like.
A
Yeah.
B
Things that I couldn't sort of overcome and distance being one of them and. Yeah. Just.
A
Yeah, understandable. Do you guys still talk?
B
Yeah, yeah, I still talk to her. Like I'll always be supportive of her and we don't speak loads, but we're still, we're still on a friendship level. And I know like I always wanted to do well and you know, I wanted to be happy.
A
Yeah, of course. So obviously things didn't work out with you and Madison, but does that mean you're single? Okay. Back to back meetings Pick up the.

B
Yes, I am single so I. I was Seeing somebody briefly, whatever that was, you know, I wanted it to be more, but it wasn't and it is what it is.
A
Yeah.
B
Since then, I've not really kind of been interested. Well, I have been interested, but I think things. You get your. Your confidence gets knocked and things, doesn't it?
A
Oh, yeah.
B
It's true, though, in it. It's true. You know what dating's like.
A
Yeah. It's tough out there. It is.
B
We want two dating shows.
A
Yeah.
B
You must have been felt the same as me.
A
Are you gonna do another show to.
B
Do another dating show? Oh, I don't know. I don't know. Tell me what it is.
A
Okay, so sadly, you didn't end up winning Perfect Match. How do you feel about Lucy and Daniel being the winners?
B
Well, listen, like, I. Yeah, if they. If they won, they won.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
But I absolutely adore Lucy and got on with Daniel. The great, the good guys. But I personally think that you should have won.
A
Does that mean you voted for us?
B
Yes, I voted here. Yeah, I voted here. Of course I did.
A
Thank you.
B
Yeah, there was no disputing it.
A
Yeah.
B
Even if I was enough. I said this yesterday to someone, even if I was in the final with you, I still wanted you to win.
A
Oh, thank you.
B
Because I knew that meaning connect me. The connection I had with, with, with mods was. Was real, but I genuinely just thought, like, yes, okay. Like, Ollie made, you know, mistakes and stuff, but I wasn't there to sort of witness that. But I see. I know that. I know that man and trust me, like, he's all for you and. Yeah, he's all for you. So listen, I love you so much. Like, you are a beautiful woman. You're such a. You're going to be an amazing mom. You are going to be the most amazing mom. And even on the show, I was always hugging you and saying, oh, you look really beautiful because you are an outstanding woman.
A
Thank you.
B
And. And he's a. He's a really good guy and I wanted you to win. Yeah, of course.
A
Oh, we love you. We really do love you. Like, you were such a. Like a positive light in the house, so we were happy to have you. Like, he loved having you around and I think you. You brought him back to reality a lot. Like, obviously, like, all you guys were, like, rambunctious and loud and. But I think you kind of brought him back down to earth.
B
Yeah, I think I was. I was obviously a bit quieter.
A
Yeah.
B
But, yeah, there's nothing wrong with having a bit of balance in the house. Yeah, you can have, like. You're crazy guys. And a bit more. I'm a bit more chilled. I've always been chilled. So. Yeah. I've never been a wild. A wild child. Never.
A
No. Really? I can't tell.
B
No.
A
So what would you say was your biggest takeaway from Perfect Match?
B
Biggest takeaway was. Don't. Don't. Don't take life too seriously. Like, listen, my. I'm not just saying it because, you know, I'm trying to. I don't know. But my. My job's so serious.
A
Yeah.
B
Okay. And I'm surrounded by sort of grief, and I don't see, like, people say, oh, why are you going on Perfect Match? You know? You know, it's my life.
A
And.
B
Yeah, there's nothing wrong with having a bit of fun. Let your hair down and be yourself. And I think the show taught me that. The show taught me that also. What he taught me is it's okay not to sort of follow the crowd or don't. I don't have to do things because other people doing it or. Do you know what I'm saying? Like, if I don't want to go out, I won't go out.
A
Yeah.
B
Do you know, if I just want to go to bed tonight, If I want to go to bed, I don't want to go out, I'll go to bed. Like, just do what makes you happy.
A
Yeah.
B
As long as you're not upsetting other people.
A
Right.
B
Yeah.
A
So you matured a bit from perfect, I'd say.
B
I'd say. Yeah. I think every day is a learning curve.
A
Yeah.
B
And going through something like that is huge. And not everyone experiences up. So. Yeah, I've definitely learned from it. Like. Yeah, there's different things I've taken away.
A
Yeah. Okay, let's switch it up a little bit.
B
Oh, what's this?
A
Play a little game.
B
Oh, okay. I love games.
A
One of our favorites. UK versus us.
B
Yeah. Well, UK are obviously going to win.
A
Okay.
B
Out there.
A
You guys don't have a history of beating us, so let's just pump it.
B
Football, soccer.
A
But in the grand scheme. Grand scheme of life, Revolutionary Wars, We've got better food.
B
That's a joke. It's not a joke. I actually. Beans on toast. Yeah. Oh, my God. That was funny, though.
A
Okay, let's just. Let's.
B
Beans on toast.
A
Ew.
B
There's Ming in it. I don't even like beans on toast. That's a thing.
A
Because it's nasty.
B
Yeah, it's not nasty. It's just not the best. Do you Know. Do you know what? Have you noticed that I always say beans on. You've probably not noticed, but I always say, if anyone said. And if anyone ever says, what's your favorite food or say beans on toast, it's because on Love is Blind, someone said, oh, Freddy's bar. And he just sits at home and eats beans on toast.
A
Yeah.
B
So I just make fun of that. I'm light of it now. I think everyone literally thinks I, like, literally get up and eat beans on top.
A
What is your favorite UK meal?
B
Oh, do you know what? Does it have to be British food?
A
Yeah.
B
Right. Okay. Well, it has to be a Sunday dinner, which I roast a roast. So chicken. I like chicken Graver. Do you like graver?
A
Not really.
B
What? That's British graver. You're having some. Some KFC gravy or something. I don't even eat Yorkshire puddings. You've had a Yorkshire pudding?
A
No.
B
What? Oh, my God. You've never lived. You've never got. What? What is all he doing? He's not giving you a York do. You've not had a Yorkshire pudding?
A
No. That is what's in it.
B
What's in it? It's like a pancake. No, it sounds crazy. Sounds like crazy concept. It's not. Oh, what?
A
So you have a pancake, a roast.
B
It's not a pancake. It's not flat. It's like. It's hard to explain. It's like.
A
I'll look it up.
B
Yeah, it's beautiful. Oh, it's beautiful. You put your stuff. You can stuff your food in it. Like your chicken.
A
Like a biscuit or something.
B
No, it's like. No, a pancake.
A
Like a pie.
B
No, it's not pie.
A
Like a chicken pot pie. Oh, my God.
B
Oh, no, it's nothing like that. All the British people now are going to be like, what? A pie? It's not a pie.
A
You just said you put all your stuff in there.
B
Well, no, it comes, like, empty. It's like. It's like a pancake and it's got, like. It's like puffy at the top. And then you put your. You can put your chicken in it and you.
A
So like a chicken pot pie.
B
Chicken pot pie. No, not really, but yeah, go on there. Let's just go for that. Roast potatoes. You've heard a roast potato.
A
Yes, of course.
B
They're amazing.
A
They're so good.
B
Yeah, Beautiful. What's your favorite food? American. If you say a hamburger, it's not.
A
I really. I'm really just a salad girl, to be honest.
B
Girl, that's your favorite.
A
I love, like a kale.
B
Live on the edge. You gotta live life on the edge. Salad?
A
Yeah. Yeah. No. And you know, Ollie's vegan, so we eat vegan food together. Or.
B
Yeah, you could have a veggie roast.
A
Yeah, we've. I did when I went to London for the holidays with his family. The whole meal was vegan and it was delicious. Yeah. I don't know if I had the chicken pot pie. I mean, what is it called?
B
Yorkshire pudding.
A
Yeah, I don't. I don't know if I could have had that. I don't know.
B
No, if you'd had it, you know.
A
I would have known.
B
Yeah. You'll be having them now for breakfast.
A
Yorkshire pudding.
B
Yorkshire pudding. Yorkshire. Excuse me. Have you got any of those? Do you have any of those Yorkshire puddings?
A
I'll get kicked right out of the country. Okay, back to the game. And we're gonna play together and basically you'll naturally be team uk. I'll be team us, and I'm gonna read us slang terms and you have to guess what they mean, and then you'll read UK slang and I'll have to guess. Right.
B
Let's go for it.
A
Okay.
B
Yeah.
A
If someone says thirsty, what does that mean?
B
It means dehydrated. It doesn't. Yeah, thirsty. Thirsty.
A
Thirsty.
B
Yeah. Thirsty is like. Like being sort of. Oh, I need to think of an example. Thirsty, like. Oh, like. Oh, my gosh. I wouldn't say thirsty. Thirsty is like if. Oh, I've got a good example. Say there's like, somebody comments on your Instagram. They're like, wow, you look good with your top off. Yeah, that's thirsty.
A
Yeah. Wait, who's being thirsty? The person with the top off or the person making the comment?
B
The person making the comment. Is that not right?
A
Yeah. Okay, well, I guess both. If you post a thirst trap.
B
Oh, a first trap. Oh, yeah.
A
So it means you're looking for posted topless. Thirsty. And if somebody commented a thirsty comment. So, yeah, you're.
B
I mean, right?
A
Yeah, you're right. Okay, you go right.
B
Mugged off. Mugged off.
A
Mugged off.
B
Mugged. M U G M U, double G, E D. Mugged off.
A
You know what? I should know this.
B
You should know this because Ollie100 says this.
A
He does say absolutely. Mugged off.
B
You either just don't know what you're saying when you're saying it. You're like, I don't know what that word means.
A
Wait, can you use it in sentence without giving it away?
B
Oh, yeah, you Want a date with someone. And then you could say, she mugged me off. Maybe you could say that.
A
Oh, yeah. Oh, mugged off. Oh, no.
B
Oh, no. I should give you a better example. Okay, yeah, so it could be, say if you were dating someone on the show.
A
Yeah.
B
And then you're getting on and then. Oh, do you know what pied means?
A
Pied.
B
Oh, that's a better one, right? Oh, my God. That was better. That was, well, Yorkshire pudding.
A
Is that the same thing? Pied and mugged?
B
Yeah, kind of.
A
So.
B
But pied's better.
A
Kind of like it's not a Yorkshire pudding. Not chicken Popeye.
B
No.
A
I'm guessing from context clues is kind of like. I don't know. Like. I don't know. I don't know.
B
Okay, so it means like, you just stop speaking to them. Oh, oh, yeah. Like ghosted. Kind of. You'd say ghosted.
A
Okay. You got mugged off.
B
Did I?
A
Or did you do the mugging?
B
I guess. I guess you could say I did the mugging. But yeah, okay. Yeah, it depends. But I don't think it did mug off. I mean, that's quite a strong statement, but yeah, yeah.
A
Okay. No cap.
B
Who?
A
No cap.
B
No cap. Like a cap on your head.
A
That. That's the word. No cap.
B
C, A P. No cap. No cap. Does that mean, like, you're not talk. You're not talking shit? No. Can I say that?
A
Kinda. Yeah.
B
The truth. Like I'm talking the truth.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
Good job. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So like you could be like, oh, I scored really high on that game. And someone said, no, you didn't. I went, yeah, no cap. So I wouldn't say that personally.
A
That was good. You should implement that. That like came off your tongue really smooth. Like it felt very natural.
B
No cap.
A
Yeah, no cap.
B
Yeah. Okay, next one. So I would not say this. This is most definitely. This is probably something that Ollie may say.
A
It's not a Manchester word. Okay.
B
So it's quite an old fashioned term as well actually now. But it's still like in slang in the uk. Peng. P, E, N G. Peng.
A
You know what? I feel like I just got tested on this word. I think so.
B
Right. Well, it's unfair advantage disadvantage to me then, isn't it, really?
A
No, because my memory is shot.
B
Peng, peng. P E N G. Peng.
A
I need it in a sentence.
B
You could say. Okay, you could say I walked into. Oh, I walked into the Perfect Match Villa and all the girls were paying. That's what somebody could say. That's what somebody could say. I wouldn't say that.
A
Oh, pang.
B
Yeah. Peng.
A
Like not good.
B
Is that your final answer? Yeah, no, it's the opposite. Peng means like hot, I'd say. I say sexy. That's what I said.
A
I literally, I feel like I just got tested on that.
B
Yeah, I probably did. Yeah.
A
So it just doesn't sound like a word to describe anyone.
B
Yeah, you'd be like, that girl's peng.
A
P E, N, G, P E, N G. I don't like that one.
B
I don't either. That's why I don't say it.
A
But okay.
B
Yeah.
A
What is clap back?
B
Who?
A
Clap back.
B
Clap back. I have no idea. Some sort of spinal problem, Some sort of medical condition in your back? I don't know. Scoliosis. I don't know what it is. What is it?
A
It's like.
B
Clap, clap, clap.
A
Yeah. Like she clapped back or he.
B
Oh, give me a sentence.
A
Yeah, sentence. I said something to her and she clapped back.
B
She clapped. Oh, okay. Clap back. Is it? Oh, okay. If you're clapping. So she clapped back. So that's like you're reacting to something.
A
Uh huh.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah.
B
Is it?
A
Yeah, See, but it's more like kind of like, like an aggressive, like.
B
Yeah, yeah. Oh, she. Yeah, she fought like she. She retaliated.
A
Yeah. In like a like a sassy way.
B
Like aggressive response. Like sort of.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
A clap back.
A
Yeah.
B
Are you gonna give me that?
A
Yeah, I'll give you that. I'm losing.
B
Right, next one. You ready for this?
A
Yeah.
B
Now this is one that I most definitely say all the time. Oh, all the time.
A
So I definitely won't.
B
You'll get this. You'll get this. Definitely. You'll get this. Taking the piss.
A
Yeah. It's hard to describe what it means, but it's like, it's like taking the piss. Like not being for real. Not being serious.
B
Yeah.
A
Like, are you joking?
B
Joking.
A
Yeah. That's a piss take.
B
That's a piss take. So in the uk we use the word piss for everything.
A
Yeah.
B
You say, I'm going for a piss. That means we. Yeah. Or urinating. Yeah, I'm pissed. That means you're drunk. Piss off. That means go away.
A
Yeah.
B
You're a piss taker. That means like you're taking liberties. Yeah, I'm here. Yeah. What was that one? Taking the piss.
A
Yeah.
B
So we say piss for everything.
A
I like to say that to Ali. I'm like, oh, that's a piss take.
B
That's a piss take. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A
That's one of my favorite ones.
B
Yeah.
A
Okay, well, unfortunately, I let you win, so congratulations.
B
No cap.
A
No cap.
B
You're not taking the piss.
A
It's not a piss take. No. That was fun. I'm going to be better. Like. I know, I know terms. I'll be better next, I think you.
B
You. Well, obviously baby's going to be half. Half English.
A
Yeah.
B
So. Well, I reckon you.
A
I doubt she's gonna be running around saying, that's a piss take.
B
She won't be, but she might be going, yeah, that's Peng. Oh, this. This roast. These. This Yorkshire pudding is Peng.
A
Sounds like a nightmare.
B
What I said.
A
Oh, gosh. Okay. I asked you once, but I'm gonna ask you again. Would you do reality TV again?
B
Listen, like, I'm not. I'm not. I'm not closed off to it.
A
Yeah.
B
At the end of the day, like, if it's the right thing for me.
A
Yeah.
B
And I've always think. You've always got to, like, think of your future and stuff and Depends what it is. And if the pros outweigh the cons, then of course.
A
Yeah.
B
And like, with perfect match, like, obviously I didn't know what the show was and I made a list of pros and cons, and for me, the pros outweighed cons. And if that's the same, then. Yeah, of course. Yeah, absolutely.
A
We would love to see you on the screen. You're such a sweetheart. I think you would do so good in, like a challenge show or like something that just like, brings out a different side of.
B
Yeah, I am a very competitive person.
A
Yeah.
B
I'm extremely competitive.
A
Yeah, we would love to see that. How has the experience being on reality TV changed you?
B
It's made. Okay, so it's changed. It's changed me in terms of. It's not changed me in terms of, like, who I am. Like, I still, you know, I still work my normal job.
A
Yeah.
B
I'm still balancing the social media.
A
Yeah. Yeah, you're doing good.
B
Like, it's. Listen, I ain't saying it's. I'm not saying it's not challenging.
A
Yeah.
B
Because it is. But I'm. That's my life. You know, I'm a funeral director. I've worked there for 10 years.
A
Yeah.
B
That's my life. So I'll always will try and to balance that. So it's not changed me in that respect. But what it definitely has changed, how it has changed me is it's made me kind of more aware about myself and relationships and what I want in a person.
A
Yeah.
B
And what I don't want in a person. And something that I am concerned about. It does worry me now is obviously I've been on this TV show and obviously performed well in the uk and I've got this sort of additional kind of like, influx of people following me and like, attention and things to it to. And it does make me worried to answer an extent now, like, how do I know this person I'm not gonna meet is interesting for me as a person.
A
What are the intentions now?
B
Yeah. Like, would they be interested in me as a person if it wasn't for this show? And that's another sort of hurdle now that I feel like I have to overcome.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
I have a question.
B
Go on.
A
Are your DMs open?
B
What you mean.
A
What's that mean on Instagram?
B
Are they open?
A
Are they open to women to slide in and try to.
B
Do you know what? I'll be very honest. Like, I do go through my dms.
A
Oh, yeah. I always go from anything good.
B
Well, apart from, like, I got one asking about socks and stuff, but apart from that. No, I would. I don't think I would respond to someone's DM and be like, oh, yeah, let's go for drinks.
A
Interesting.
B
Oh, I don't know. I don't think so.
A
How do you like to meet women?
B
Well, I don't just see if it.
A
Naturally happens, I guess, but just like the grocery stores. Tesco or something.
B
Yes. How'd you know that?
A
In London.
B
Yeah, of course. Yeah, yeah. I look around like Tesco and. Which is Walmart, as you may know. And lurk around Walmart. Yeah.
A

Episode: From Love Is Blind UK to Perfect Match: Freddie Powell Reflects
Date: August 27, 2025
Host: AD (Love Is Blind’s AD)
Guest: Freddie Powell (Love Is Blind UK S1, Perfect Match)
This episode features a heartfelt and witty conversation between host AD and guest Freddie Powell, known from Love Is Blind UK and Perfect Match. Freddie opens up about life after reality TV, advocating for Down Syndrome, the challenges of dating, and what reality television taught him—plus plenty of UK/US banter and culture “translation.” The episode strikes a balance between deep insights into relationships and a playful dissection of reality TV life.
“Just back to normal life for me. ... Funeral, directing, working, friends, family. Just the norm, really. Nothing out of the ordinary.” (01:52)
“The reaction I was getting when I was saying ‘funeral director’ was wild. Like, people were saying, ‘Oh my God, you’re a funeral…?’ What, like, getting put off by it.” (04:49)
“Kilimanjaro… I just thought, okay, it’s gonna be hard... What I was not prepared for was just how mentally challenging it was.” (06:04-06:49)
“What carried me through, right, is that knowing that people had donated and like, giving me like, amazing messages and obviously, my brother.” (08:16)
“I wanted to use that platform to do something good, and that was my main focus.” (09:42)
“It was never my intention to go on a TV show… It came up Love Is Blind UK casting now, right. And this was only two weeks after I broke up with my ex, right?... So I just pressed apply.” (10:21-11:34)
“Anyone who’s seen the series will know that was very difficult… it was very hard… I felt like I was transparent throughout the relationship… my family and friends didn’t know what I was going to say.” (12:48-14:09)
“If she feels that way, then she has the right to feel that way. But personally, I’m just me, so.” (14:42)
“I was kind of…obviously, I was upset at the time to an extent, just because it felt a bit close to home, so to speak. But no, I was happy for her.” (15:29)
“I love everyone, yeah.” (16:34)
“When I got there…seeing Ollie there and I was like, what? I was so happy.” (17:17-17:30)
“When I was casted for Perfect Match, I’ll be very honest, I didn’t know what the show was… I googled it and stuff because in the UK… it’s definitely growing.” (18:26-19:14)
“The reason I’m there is so hopefully I find somebody. Yeah. So I was very clear in that.” (19:19)
“Definitely helped in that respect. Like, I didn’t feel uncomfortable anymore.” (20:10)
“I thought everyone was really attractive. I was like, oh my God, I’m so out of place.” (22:16)
“Our connection was really good. And with me, she was lovely and really kind to me and caring, supportive with… me.” (25:48-26:03)
“I’d already started developing a connection with Madison.” (26:20)
“The distance was an issue that was in the back of my mind… I don’t want to leave Manchester, my family’s there, my brother’s there…” (26:37)
“I was hopeful I wasn’t done, but I didn’t know.” (30:37)
“We stayed in contact for a brief period… it just became apparent that maybe it wasn’t kind of for me, it wasn’t something that I wanted to sort of pursue… But I was just being… I had to sort of express my feelings…” (31:18-32:15)
“Yes, I am single... Since then, I’ve not really kind of been interested…” (34:03)
“If the pros outweigh the cons, then of course. ... I am a very competitive person.” (49:05, 49:43)
“Don’t take life too seriously. ... There’s nothing wrong with having a bit of fun, let your hair down and be yourself. ... Just do what makes you happy, as long as you’re not upsetting other people.” (36:54-37:51)
“It’s made me kind of more aware about myself and relationships and what I want in a person.” (50:00)
“It does make me worried to an extent now, like, how do I know this person I’m going to meet is interested in me for me as a person.” (50:56)
“I know there is something that defies science. But I don’t know whether it’s an afterlife… But there is most definitely something that we can’t explain.” (03:36)
“Most of them think I’m probably gonna, like... bury them. ... No, I’m not gonna do that. That’s later on in the relationship if you get nasty.” (04:40-05:10)
AD: “We’ve got better food.”
Freddie: “That’s a joke. It’s not a joke… Beans on toast.”
Freddie: “No cap.”
AD: “That was good. You should implement that. That came off your tongue really smooth!” (44:47-44:52)
“We use the word ‘piss’ for everything… Taking the piss, going for a piss, you’re a piss taker…” (47:45-48:07)
The conversation is candid and filled with self-deprecating British humor, with AD matching Freddie’s wit and warmth. Both hosts and guest break down the reality TV experience with refreshing honesty, discussing the highs (genuine friendships, self-growth, fun) and challenges (relationships under a microscope, trust, and dating difficulties after fame). The episode is full of friendly banter about British and American culture, with a particularly entertaining UK vs. US slang segment.
Memorable closing from Freddie:
“Don’t take life too seriously ... just do what makes you happy, as long as you’re not upsetting other people.” (36:54-37:51)
This episode is perfect for fans of Love Is Blind, Perfect Match, and the reality TV/dating genre. It also appeals to anyone interested in the real-life aftermath of reality TV and the heartfelt journeys behind the screen. Expect lots of laughs, honest reflections, and a warm, inviting vibe from both AD and Freddie.
