Host (Smarty Pants)
And now it's time for who's Smarted? Psst. Hey, smarty pants. Can I be completely honest with you? I'm actually a little nervous today. You see, I agreed to help my pal NA's reporter, weatherman, sportscaster, bagel store owner Chad Nickerson with a new segment he's doing. But now I kind of wish I hadn't. You see, Chet is planning to interview some animals to find out which one is the most dangerous. Now, I've met a lot of animals on Whosmarted, but to be even more honest, I'm not sure which is the most dangerous. What if it's something really scary?
Trusty Narrator
Hey, hey. There he is. You ready, Trusty? We can't keep the world's most dangerous animals waiting. We certainly wouldn't want to upset them.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Oh, boy. Alright, smarty pants. I've eaten an energy bar.
Trusty Narrator
Nom, nom, nom, nom, nom.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Put on my sneakers in case I have to run for my life. I've also gone to the bathroom, so hopefully I don't go in my pants when I see these scary animals. It's time to face my fears and find the answers to questions like what is the most dangerous animal? What makes an animal dangerous in the first place? And are the biggest animals always the most dangerous? It's time for another whiff of science, history and fear.
Trusty Narrator
On who smarted? Who's smarted? Who's smart? Is it you? Is it me? Is it science or history? Listen up, everyone. We make smarting lots of fun. But who's smarted?
Host (Smarty Pants)
All right, Chet, who's our first guess? Smarty pants. I'm looking at a tannish brown animal that's like a cat, only about 28 times bigger, with a beautiful thick mane of hair around his head. What is it? Go ahead and shout it out. I heard a lot of smarty pants say it's a lion. Okay, time to go.
Trusty Narrator
Oh, come on, Trusty. Stop being such a cowardly narrator. Besides, I made sure all the animals ate before the interview so they wouldn't be Hungry. Why, hello, Mr. Lion. What can you tell us about yourself?
Asiatic Lion
Well, I'm an Asiatic lion, which is a subspecies of lion.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Smartypants. What do you think a subspecies is? Is it A, a specific type of a certain animal, B, a smaller animal, or C, an animal that travels underwater in a submarine? If you said, A, a specific type of a certain animal, nice job.
Asiatic Lion
Asiatic lines live in the shrublands and forests of western India. And Trusty, thanks for noticing my beautiful thick mane of hair. Male Asiatic lions with large dark manes are usually the healthiest.
Trusty Narrator
And they don't even use shampoo.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Well, I'm glad you're feeling healthy. I also can't help but notice you're really, really big. Smarty pants. How long do you think Asiatic lions grow? Is it over five feet or one and a half meters? Over eight feet or two meters? Or over ten feet three meters?
Asiatic Lion
If you said over eight feet, two meters, nice job. Asiatic lines grow to be around 8.2ft or 2.49 meters long. And the biggest was nearly ten feet or three meters.
Host (Smarty Pants)
That is much bigger than me.
Asiatic Lion
We also weigh around 400 and 500 pounds.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Yikes. That's like three of me.
Asiatic Lion
And I can jump 36ft or 10.9 meters.
Trusty Narrator
Wow. The world's long jump record for humans is 29.36ft or 8.94 meters. It's not even close. Now that's impressive.
Host (Smarty Pants)
The fact that something that big and heavy can jump that far is also pretty terrifying.
Asiatic Lion
You say terrifying, I say necessary. I, like most lions, will ferociously defend my territory.
Host (Smarty Pants)
That loud roar is enough to keep me away from your territory. In fact, we can go now, Chet.
Trusty Narrator
Oh, hang on, hang on. How would another animal know which territory is yours?
Asiatic Lion
Because of these.
Narrator/Interjections
Whoa.
Trusty Narrator
Look at those giant claws. They could shred trusty narrator in seconds.
Asiatic Lion
Yes, I'm pretty proud of them. My claws retract to stay sharp. We mark our territory with our claws.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Nope, not going anywhere near those. So if you Asiatic lion, are you the most dangerous animal in the world?
Asiatic Lion
I'm flattered to think so, but no.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Well, that's just great. There are animals that are even more dangerous than this giant lion.
Trusty Narrator
You ain't lion. Come on, trusty. Let's meet our next guest.
Bengal Tiger
Hello, smarty pants.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Oh, boy, smarty pants. This animal is also cat like, but much, much bigger with orange and black striped fur. Go ahead and shout out what you think it is.
Bengal Tiger
If you said I'm a tiger, that's great.
Trusty Narrator
So, Mr. Tiger, what can you tell us about Yourself?
Bengal Tiger
Well, I'm a Bengal tiger. I'm a dangerous predator. I'm also pretty long.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Smarty pants, The Asiatic lion was over 8ft long. Do you think the Bengal tiger is bigger or smaller? The answer is bigger.
Trusty Narrator
That's right. Adult male Bengal tigers can grow to 10ft long or 3.2 meters and tend to weigh around 500 pounds.
Host (Smarty Pants)
That's how much a grand piano weighs. So where do you live? So I know not to go there.
Bengal Tiger
Bengal tigers live in the wetlands, grasslands, tropical forests and mangrove forests of Southern.
Host (Smarty Pants)
And you prefer the company of other animals or narrators?
Bengal Tiger
Absolutely not. We like being alone. We're very territorial.
Host (Smarty Pants)
We're leaving.
Trusty Narrator
Hold on, Trusty. Just one more question.
Host (Smarty Pants)
He likes to be alone and his claws are the width of my hand. I've seen enough. But I guess we should ask Bengal Tiger, are you the most dangerous animal?
Bengal Tiger
As much as it would be great to say yes, I'm gonna say no.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Great. There's something even more dangerous.
Trusty Narrator
Hang in there, Trusty. Let's meet our next guest.
Elephant
Hello, smarty pants.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Smarty pants. I am looking at a humongous animal with gray skin, floppy ears and a long trunk. Go ahead and shout it out.
Elephant
That's right. I'm an elephant.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Wait, an elephant? How are elephants dangerous? I thought they only ate plants and were nice to people. Smarty pants, do you know, while it's
Elephant
true elephants eat plants and are generally calm and gentle, the fact is we're really, really big and really, really heavy and really, really strong. Plus, elephants know how to defend themselves. So if we get scared or upset, we can stampede. And very little can stop us.
Trusty Narrator
Trusty, did you know elephants can grow up to 13ft or 3.9 meters tall and weigh up to 15,000 pounds?
Host (Smarty Pants)
That is the same as a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Elephant
As the biggest land mammal on Earth, I can use my weight to easily overpower other animals.
Host (Smarty Pants)
I will definitely not get you angry. So are you the most dangerous animal?
Elephant
Nah, there's much more dangerous animals than me.
Narrator/Interjections
Great.
Trusty Narrator
Come on, Trusty. Let's meet our next guest.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Oh, wow. This animal kinda looks like a dog, but lives in the wild. Smartypants, any idea what I'm looking at?
Wolf
If you said wolf, you're right. Wolves like me challenge grizzly bears as the top predators in many habitats.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Oh, and grizzly bears are huge, so wolves must have really special skills.
Wolf
We do. We're great runners and swimmers, so most prey have no chance against us.
Host (Smarty Pants)
That's like pizza not having a chance against me. But I gotta say, Mr. Wolf, compared to the other animals we've met, seem on the smaller side. Smartypants, how much do you think wolves weigh? Is it £100, £130 or £180?
Wolf
If you said £130, you're right for a female wolf. And for a male wolf, it's around 180 pounds.
Host (Smarty Pants)
No offense, but you know, that's big for, say, a dog. But that's not much more than I weigh. That's a lot smaller than I thought one of the most dangerous animals would be.
Narrator/Interjections
True.
Wolf
But bigger doesn't always mean more dangerous. Remember that.
Host (Smarty Pants)
I see. And we'll find out why after this quick break and a word from our sponsors.
Sponsor/Skylight Calendar Promoter

Wait, what?
Trusty Narrator
Milk can't control where the ride goes.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Now back to who Smarted. We just found out that biggest doesn't always mean most dangerous. But Mr. Wolf, are you the most dangerous animal?
Wolf
Not even close, dude. Later.
Trusty Narrator
Okay, Trusty, that was a great warm up. But now it's time to hear from some of the world's top most dangerous animals.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Do we really have to?
Trusty Narrator
Why yes. Yes we do. And then we'll stop by Chet's Bagels for some free bagels.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Oh, it's a deal. Who's next?
Narrator/Interjections
Hey, Trusty. Hey, chat.
Tsetse Fly / Crocodile
I'm one of the most dangerous animals in the world.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Wait, who said that?
Narrator/Interjections
Me.
Tsetse Fly / Crocodile
I'm a tsetse fly buzzing around your head.
Host (Smarty Pants)
You? You're dangerous? You're just a tiny little fly. I could smash you up with my whosmarted script.
Trusty Narrator
Ah, but Trusty, remember what the wolf said. Bigger doesn't always mean more dangerous.
Tsetse Fly / Crocodile
Yep, I might be, but I'm parasitic. That means I feed on the blood of other creatures and that can make them sick.
Trusty Narrator
The bite of a tsetse fly can cause something called African sleeping sickness, which is nearly 100% fatal. It's estimated 50,000 to 500,000 people die from this disease every year.
Host (Smarty Pants)
What?
Tsetse Fly / Crocodile
Lucky for you, I've already eaten.
Bengal Tiger
Byee.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Holy moly chat. That fly is so dangerous.
Trusty Narrator
Yep, but we're not done yet. Let's head into the ocean.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Uh, what am I looking at? This little fish.
Trusty Narrator
I might look little now, but just watch.
Narrator/Interjections
Whoa.
Host (Smarty Pants)
You're a little bigger. And definitely rounder and spikier.
Pufferfish / Saw Skilled Viper
I'm a pufferfish. Even though I'm a small fish, I have the most powerful venom of any fish in the world. And if you accidentally eat me, it can be sayonara.
Host (Smarty Pants)
I will definitely leave you off the menu.
Narrator/Interjections
Who's next? Chet?
Trusty Narrator
A snake.
Pufferfish / Saw Skilled Viper
But not just any snake. I'm a saw skilled viper. Scientists believe I'm responsible for more human deaths than any other snake species combined. I also like to bite early and often.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Great.
Trusty Narrator
Next. Since we're talking reptiles, here's another one for you.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Ah, I was expecting to see this one on a list of dangerous animals. Smarty pants. This long, green, scaly monster has tons of teeth and lives in rivers, marshes and swamps in Sub Saharan Africa. Is it A, a crocodile, B, an alligator, or C, a chameleon?
Tsetse Fly / Crocodile
If you said a crocodile. My bite has up to 5,000 pounds per square inch of force. That's among the most powerful bites of any animal on the planet.
Host (Smarty Pants)
So are you the most dangerous animal?
Tsetse Fly / Crocodile
Nope. Ta ta.
Trusty Narrator
Okay, Trusty, that was all fun and games, but are you now ready to meet the most dangerous animal on the planet?
Host (Smarty Pants)
Yes. Let's just get it over with. As if this weren't bad enough, there is an annoying mosquito bothering me.
Trusty Narrator
Yes, but that's just it.
Host (Smarty Pants)
What's just it?
Narrator/Interjections
Me. I'm the most dangerous animal in the world. Hold on.
Host (Smarty Pants)
The most dangerous animal in the world is a mosquito?
Narrator/Interjections
Since some types of mosquitoes can cause dangerous diseases like malaria, yellow fever, zika and dengue, mosquitoes are considered the most dangerous animal, governments and international organizations around the world spend billions of dollars a year fighting us.
Trusty Narrator
And there you have it. You did it, Trusty. You survived a menagerie of some of the most dangerous animals on the planet.
Host (Smarty Pants)
I know, but I can't believe I was so worried about dangerous animals when the most dangerous one is right in my backyard all summer.
Trusty Narrator
Well, there are over 3,000 species of mosquitoes, but only a handful spread dangerous diseases, so chances are you'll be okay.
Host (Smarty Pants)
Uh, I'm not taking any chances. You owe me a free bagel. An adventurous shout out to Everett and his dad Jewett in St. Augustine, Florida. We're so glad to know what huge smarty fans you are and how you
