You say you'll never join the Navy, that living on a submarine would be too hard. You'd never power a whole ship with nuclear energy, never bring a patient back.

What's up everybody? Y'? All? I am so excited for this episode. It is the moment you've all been waiting for. Except for my already know now, if you watched last week's episode and the finale of season one of Duck Dynasty, the revival, which is so crazy that we just finished the first season already.
Willie Robertson
If you haven't watched it yet, stop listening to the podcast.
Sadie Robertson
If you haven't watched it, go watch it in the Stop. Go on Amazon Prime. Prime. No Amazon video right now and video watch the episode because it is so epic. But what we did on the finale was we finally shared our gender reveal, which that is so crazy how long ago that was. And the fact that we made up till right now without spoiling the gender is amazing. But now we can say it, Baby Huff number three is a girl, which.
Willie Robertson
You have spoiled it. But we've just been able to cut it out of the podcasts.
Sadie Robertson
Well, yeah, if this podcast was live, I've spoiled it like 12 times.
Willie Robertson
Yeah.
Sadie Robertson
Because it's so hard not to say she her, you know, and I did that a lot. And then also I told like all of my friends and family that it was a girl. And so we had several times my friend would comment be like, can't wait for her to get here. I or you know, can't wait for the little sister. Like they kept commenting this and so I would delete comments as fast as I could. But some of you guys saw, I think Shelly Giglio was the first one to comment something about it being a girl. And by the time I saw it had like 15 likes on her comment. And they're like, shelly Giglio just spoiled it. It's a girl. And we tried to delete all evidence of that. And I think we did a pretty good job.
Willie Robertson
I think you did a good job.
Sadie Robertson
Because this last month I wore two outfits back to back that were blue. And.
Willie Robertson
And all the comments were like, our maternity pictures. Our maternity pictures. I was in the blue shirt.
Sadie Robertson
You were.
Willie Robertson
That's not intentional.
Sadie Robertson
A lot of people.
Willie Robertson
And right now I'm in a blue shirt boy.
Sadie Robertson
Because of that. And it's so funny because people have, like, not only guess boy, but they're like, convinced it's a boy. Like, oh, you are just totally giving it away. It's such a boy. Yeah. And I'm like, well, it's a girl. And so we'll kind of back up to before we knew what we thought we were going to have. Just obviously based off feeling and nothing else. Just what we were guessing and how the gender reveal party went, how we started to plan it. But it is really funny because I was 100% convinced, too, that this baby was going to be a boy. Was I not?
Willie Robertson
You were like, yeah, dead set on it.
Sadie Robertson
Like, dead set. It is so funny to me how much I really, truly thought I was going to be a boy. So backing up to even finding out we were pregnant, what's really sweet and kind of crazy is the week before. Was it the week before that, Honey? No, it was like the. The whole month before Honey started telling.
Willie Robertson
Me, like, it was like, two months.
Sadie Robertson
Yeah, I mean, it really was probably two months. Honey started saying that I have a baby boy in my tummy. She'd be like, mommy, you have a baby boy in your tummy before you were pregnant? Yes, and his name is Joey. Yeah, that's what she kept saying. It was so weird. It came out of nowhere. She was like, you have a baby boy in your tummy and his name is Joey. And. And I was like, what? I was like, I don't have a baby in my tummy. And she's like, yes, you do, and his name is Joey. And she was, like, adamant about it. And I was like, what? And at the time, we were not, like, planning on getting pregnant. We were thinking we were gonna wait a few more years. Yeah, we were thinking we were gonna wait a few more years. And she just out of the blue start saying that I have a baby in my tummy and his name is Joey. Well, then it got to the point where she would, like, pray for Joey, like, At night she would be like, and God, thank you for my baby brother. And I'd be like, what is happening? And I'd tell her, like, honey, I'm. I'm not pregnant. I don't have a baby in my tummy. And she's like, yes, you do. And then she. One night, she was praying for him, and I was like, okay, I really want her to know I really am not pregnant because she clearly has this expectation that she's about to have a little brother, and we're not even trying or thinking about that. And so I was like, honey, you know, maybe one day mommy will have a baby in my tummy and maybe we'll have a baby brother, but, you know, I really don't have a baby in my tummy right now. And she said, yeah, he's in heaven right now with God, but he's coming to your tummy. I was like, what in the world? It was so crazy. It was weird. And so then fast forward to me finding out I'm pregnant, basically. I really, truly did not think I was pregnant. I was just like. I mean, we, like you said, we weren't really planning for that. It wasn't really the timeline we thought. But we had just gotten back from this trip and I was like, I don't know, just all of her Joey comments and all this stuff about a baby, it's kind of getting in my head. And I was like, am I pregnant? Like, God, is this actually, like, what you have for us? And I. I don't even know that I had any symptoms. I don't even think I had missed my period. I was just like, I'm just going to take a pregnancy test and just see and then, you know, I can stop thinking about this. And so didn't even tell Christian I was taking a test. Didn't even, like, truly, truly thought it was just going to be negative. And I was just going to be like, okay, carry on. That was just a weird thing that honey kept saying. Well, I had one pregnancy test left at our house from, like, when we were, you know, starting to try with Haven. And so I was like, I'll just take this one. And I went to the bathroom, took the test, left the test in the, like, bathroom part, walked down, and Christian was on FaceTime with his mom. I didn't know. So Christian gets off the phone with his mom and comes back in the bathroom, and I'm like, we are pregnant. And he was like, what?
Willie Robertson
You were self doing?
Sadie Robertson
That's the last thing. I was literally so Caught off guard. He was nice with me at all. And so we were just like, what is happening? It was the first week we started filming for the show. Like, this is the first week we have cameras in our house. First week we're filming, and then we found out we're pregnant. And also, we had planned that we were going to be filming from, like, December to around July. And so it immediately hits me like I'm about to be pregnant the entire time we're filming this show. Like, this is so crazy. Everything was just crazy. It took us a few days for it to, like, sink in. And then we were like, what the heck? Honey was right. So that's why I thought, oh, it has to be a boy, because I didn't even think I was going to be pregnant. And then I was. And she had been telling me about this little boy named Joey. Well, this is, like, the really cool thing. So I look up the meaning of the name Joey, and it means God will increase her add to. So I was like, whoa, that is so cool. That Honey literally was, like, prophesying over us that God was going to give us a baby. He's gonna increase and add to. And I feel like that just gave me so much peace and confirmation that God obviously has, like, the time of this baby's life. I mean, of course we know that. But then to see that in that way was just so amazing. And so then, remember, I texted Lainie about it, and I was like, this is the craziest thing, Honey. You know, when I told Lainey on FaceTime that I was pregnant, I was like, this is the craziest thing Honey's been telling me for, like, two months. I have a baby named Joey in me. And she was like, what? She was a Ronnie told her the same thing before she was pregnant with Rosie. Said, you have a baby boy or tummy. His name is Joey. What? And also, Laney and Clayton live in Tennessee with Ronnie, and we live in Louisiana. So Honey and Ronnie don't, like, talk on a regular basis. And that was like, a year before any of this. And Honey would have been too little to even remember, even if they did talk about it, which they didn't. So that was just so crazy to me. And that's actually why Lainey named her daughter Rosie Jo Jo, short for Joey, because of the kind of prophetic word that Ronnie had. So I don't know if anybody else out there's kids told them they were pregnant with a baby named Joey, but apparently that is the way God is speaking to Children. And it blew our mind. So we thought for sure it's a boy.
Willie Robertson
And you thought for sure it was a boy?
Sadie Robertson
Did you not think it was a boy?
Willie Robertson
I wasn't sold on it. I mean, no offense to Honey, but, you know, I wasn't. I wasn't sold on her. Her prophecy.
Sadie Robertson
You weren't selling her prophecy? I mean, I wasn't at first, but then I was like, the more detail she got with it, then I was like, what in the world?
Willie Robertson
No, everything she was saying was, yeah, it was interesting and it had some validity to it.
Sadie Robertson
And it would always be when we would be talking about God. Like, remember whenever there was a big storm one day, and I was like, telling her, you know, God. God can calm any storm. So if you ever get scared in a storm, then we just need to say, jesus, will you calm the storm? And I started telling her about the story. Story of, like, the wind and the waves in the boat. And then, like, right after that, she's like, yeah, and God is like, you know who's making baby Joey? Like, it would be like, anytime we're talking about God, it would be, like, attached to this baby coming. So that's why I was like, okay, this is weird. It's not just, like, random or she saw it somewhere. It felt very spiritual and very prophetic. And so I was like, I'm just gonna take a test. So I was convinced it was a boy. Major convinced. I also had, like, two other dreams about it being a boy.
Willie Robertson
You had a bunch of energy.
Sadie Robertson
I had a lot of dreams.
Willie Robertson
I think friends had dreams, too.
Sadie Robertson
Friends had dreams it was a boy. And then my pregnancy was so different than it was with Honey and Haven. Like, I just had completely different symptoms. I stopped throwing up at week 10, where in the past. I didn't stop throwing up till, like, week 25. So I was like. When I started feeling Good at week 10, I was like, oh, it's for sure a boy. Um, so going in that day or going into the gender reveal, pretty convinced. But then the day before the gender reveal party, we were in the car and we were listening to that song. I always wanted a brother because me and Honey were, like, so convinced it was going to be a boy. And then she was like, mommy, I might be a little sad if it's not a boy. I was like, yeah, but we don't have to be sad because you already have. Like, Haven and sisters are so fun, and we would love it. So she's like, yeah, okay, moves on. Then after that, all of A sudden she was like, mommy, I wanted to be a girl. I wanted to be another sister. So this is the day before the gender reveal. So we've had months of Joey, months of boy singing, I always wanted a brother. And the day before she's like, I hope it's a girl. I hope it's another sister. And so at the gender reel party, you actually see this on the show. I said, honey, I like a last minute girl change, but I'm still sticking with boy. I'm going to stay committed. And then of course, when it was a girl, it was so funny. It was as if the boy thing never happened. For Honey, it was like sister girl. Like she was so happy, which I'm really thankful that her heart did turn because she. I don't know what she would have been like. It's not Joey.
Willie Robertson
She would have been so confused. We were not going to name our daughter Joey.
Sadie Robertson
We were not.
Willie Robertson
We were not there's any female Joeys listening. No offense, we just weren't going to name her.
Sadie Robertson
I mean, Joey wasn't going to be the name if it was a boy either. No.
Willie Robertson
Yeah. No. Even if it was a boy, I.
Sadie Robertson
Took that more as the prophetic word that God will increase or add to than that actually needs to be the name of the baby. But yeah, leading up to the gender reveal was funny. Christian, you want to kind of take over the thought process behind the gender reveal and yeah, your moment to shine.
Willie Robertson
Shine or, or fade. One of the two. I was not. I was not shining very brightly.
Sadie Robertson
Okay, confession time. I honestly used to think all sheets were the same as long as they were clean and kind of soft. What's the big deal, right? Wrong. Willie Robertson
Yeah. So for the gender reveal. This is our third baby. So for the first two we've wanted to, you know, gender reveal parties are fun. We definitely don't want it to be like over the top, you know, like some things you'll see on social media.
Sadie Robertson
I don't want to be like roasted on TikTok because it was like so extra. But we do want to be extra enough that we had a great time.
Willie Robertson
We wanted to be fun. So. Yeah. So for our. So for honey, we had paint guns. And even there was a little slip up there too.
Sadie Robertson
There was.
Willie Robertson
I can't remember what happened.
Sadie Robertson
It was right before everyone was supposed to start shooting. My cousin Avon accidentally shot first. So you just see this pink like. But I actually didn't see it.
Willie Robertson
I didn't see it.
Sadie Robertson
I thought you did see it. My mom saw it.
Willie Robertson
I can't remember. That was a long time ago. So that was fun. So we had like all white clothes on. Then we got sprayed with the, you know, with the pink paint guns. And then for Haven, we wanted to do something with like a softball. So we had had the, like the powder stuff in this, in this little baseball softball thing. And then Sadie underhand pitched it to me and I was gonna hit it, which there was pressure in that one too. Cause I was like, if I miss it, you know, it's just anti climatic if I miss it.
Sadie Robertson
Funny.
Willie Robertson
If it just falls on the ground. Yeah. There's been a bunch of funny people that have either like either missed it and just exploded or they've like Hit it back at their spouse.
Sadie Robertson
Or the exploded on them was the. The girl pitches it and the husband misses it. And the catcher didn't ever expect him to miss and it hits it right in the head.
Willie Robertson
I haven't seen that blue. I haven't seen that one.
Sadie Robertson
That's one of my favorites. I love.
Willie Robertson
So those were two things. So then for the third one, we, you know, we were thinking, like, what could, you know, what could this be? And I've gotten into hunting a lot more over the past couple years. And in my mind, I had had this idea of, like, shooting my bow at something like a big target, you know, something that there was a large margin of error, like if it came down to it. So we'd had this idea to do, you know, to do something with my bow. But I consulted Martin Inside, which you'll see in the episode about, you know, trying to help me. And we went through a bunch of different things. And it came down to wanting to. Kind of wanting to try to impress Willie with hunting skills while also finding out the gender of the baby. And. Yeah, so I wanted to do my shooting my bow and arrow at something. And the lovely people who chose to get the thing for me to shoot, I guess, had way more because we.
Sadie Robertson
Had decided at the time we were like, okay, we're gonna film it. So Christian and I were talking with the film crew about, like, the production team about what we wanted to do. And we were telling them, oh, we thought it would be a cute idea to do like a bow arrow theme. So, like, because he's shooting his bow, but in like, baby world bow, like girl wears a bow and like, boy shoots arrow. Anyways, we were telling them about this idea and they're like, yeah, well, we're gonna help get the thing to explode. Because, you know, on tv, bigger is better. And so it was like, in my. In our mind, we were thinking like a big balloon he would shoot.
Willie Robertson
I was thinking like a three foot big balloon. And it's, you know, I hit and it pops and it's, you know, like anybody could really pretty much shoot this thing. It's not that difficult.
Sadie Robertson
But when they did some research, they were like, well, this would be epic because it's more like a target you have to shoot. And with Christian actually wanting to impress dad, they're like, let's raise the stakes because it's going to be more impressive if you hit like a smaller target.
Willie Robertson
Yeah.
Sadie Robertson
And so when they set up that.
Willie Robertson
Target so you weren't out. So.
Sadie Robertson
So that little thing was about the size of a hockey.
Willie Robertson
Well, it's in the episode, too. Yeah. So I go out to do, like, a practice thing, to kind of shoot it where I'm. Where I want to stand and all those different things. So I show up and it's. Yeah, like I said, it's legitimately a hockey puck. And I'm like, crap. Like, this is not. You know, this is not. This is not good. So I went out and we did this. We did this practice things just to see how it would explode, what that would look like. And at that time, it was like orange paint. So it wasn't. Did not have the color of the baby. So the first time I shot it, I hit it, and it was such a loud explosion. Like, it. Literally everyone of the film. Everyone almost fell down, it was so loud.
Sadie Robertson
Like, our producer, Annie, she's like, oh, my gosh. Like, it scared everybody.
Willie Robertson
So I hit it the first time, and then, you know, when you. This thing explodes. So all my arrows are. They're. They're all. They're all done. So, like, they're. They're. They're. They're shot. So I hit it the first time. Then we had to reset, do three different things. Missed it the second time, which I was kind of like, not good. Then I hit it again the third time. So I was 2 for 3 on the practice things, and I felt very confident. Plus, I like to think that I, you know, I like to think that I perform better under pressure, maybe sometimes. So I was like, okay, well, when. When the day comes for me to actually do it, it's, you know, I'm going to. I'm going to nail it because I did it here when no one was really watching me. And then, you know, when I. When I started to feel pressure and people that I love are watching, I think I'll live up to the expectations that. So the day comes for us to do it. And like I said, I. All those arrows were destroyed. So I showed up. I only had three arrows. That's, you know, that's. That's what I had constructed for the bow. So I showed only three arrows. Literally. Not thinking in my.
Sadie Robertson
To be honest, like, you never really expressed concern to me that you would miss it. No, I was thinking you said to me was, like, it's so loud.
Willie Robertson
So loud.
Sadie Robertson
You didn't really talk about how small.
Willie Robertson
No. And I was so confident. Like, in the. In the practice round, I'm doing this little interview, and I'm like, you know, baby number three, your dad's a sharpshooter which watching it, it's like, you idiot. You know? Like, then I just miss all the other ones.
Sadie Robertson
Well, okay, so let me set the expectation to you for that day, because when we get there, I see it, and I realize how small it is, and I'm like, babe, yeah, that's, like, really small. And I was like. And he wore a T shirt that day, and it was cold, and he was wearing these tight jeans, which it was so funny. Love being they were Bellas. I was like.
Willie Robertson
I was like, they ended up in.
Sadie Robertson
My closet, but you look really cute. But I was looking at him like, those are not his jeans.
Willie Robertson
They were way. They were not sitting jeans.
Sadie Robertson
They were not.
Willie Robertson
Would say my crotch was tight.
Sadie Robertson
And they were, like, so short on him. And I looked over him. I was like, that's nice jeans. That I was thinking, they're not my jeans. And I was like, I don't want to offend Bella by asking here, but.
Willie Robertson
I think those are weirdly fit me.
Sadie Robertson
Because they were, like, vintage. You know, they were, like, high.
Willie Robertson
They. They were like. They were definitely some, like, high water.
Sadie Robertson
So I asked Bella, like, bel, those your jeans? She's like, yes. What the heck? Like, I changed at your house one day. Why is Christian wearing them?
Willie Robertson
So I said, probably the reason I missed.
Sadie Robertson
He's wearing, like, this tight white short T shirt and Bella's tight jeans.
Willie Robertson
The shirt was not meant to be.
Sadie Robertson
Outfit because it was freezing that day, and it was freezing that day. I. I heard it. And so I.
Willie Robertson
So the shirt was mine. It was not your shirt.
Christian Huff
I know.
Sadie Robertson
So I'm wearing a jacket with fur, like, in cold. So I'm telling him. I'm like, I think you should put on a hoodie or a jacket because you're going to be shaky because you didn't dress appropriately. But let's be real. You like the tight shirt.
Willie Robertson
You were like, that shirt's a double.
Sadie Robertson
X. I get that when I pull that arrow back. You didn't want to cover the.
Willie Robertson
There is. And no, that shirt went with the jeans. I was in no way thinking, ooh, when I draw this arrow back, it'll show off my head.
Sadie Robertson
Probably a little vibe.
Willie Robertson
100%. There was not.
Sadie Robertson
Probably a little one. So anyway, okay, maybe not.
Willie Robertson
But I'm already gonna get roasted for the show. Why are you roasting me for outfit?
Sadie Robertson
Not roasting you. I was just not flaming the. Cuz. You look great. You actually look very right now. And I was thinking, you are roasting. No. And I was thinking, I. I don't want you to cover it either cuz you look great. But what I was thinking too was that you're going to be shaky cuz it's cold and you're wearing a T shirt. So I kept saying maybe put on a hoodie because like your shakiness with the bow is going to be hard to shoot.
Willie Robertson
Shakiness even a word.
Sadie Robertson
Everyone understands what I'm saying.
Willie Robertson
Shaking. I was shaking.
Sadie Robertson
You are shaking.
Willie Robertson
Thank you.
Sadie Robertson
And I was worried that the shaking was going to affect the target so.
Willie Robertson
Well, also when you throw into the mix, you have a whole group of people filming you. You know it's going to be on national television. You have family that has flown in to watch this moment happen.
Sadie Robertson
We had so many people like I.
Willie Robertson
Think, I think leading up to it, I knew there was going to be high stakes just because of the nature of kind of what we're doing. But it didn't fully hit me until I saw all of our friends and family there. And it's like this all sits on me.
Sadie Robertson
And to just paint the picture too, there's like a 30 person film crew that day. I mean, would you say about 30 people?
Willie Robertson
It was probably more than that, but yeah.
Sadie Robertson
And so there's like 30 people on the left with the film crew and then there's like six cameras all lined up and then they're like wait for each shot to get perfect. So they're all standing up.
Willie Robertson
Well, here's the problem too.
Sadie Robertson
And on our right side it's all of our friends and family and like everybody was there. So here was also the problem. It was very intimidating.
Willie Robertson
Here's the problem too if, if you know like football terms and if you watch football, like the phrase icing the kicker, which what that means is let, like let's say, let's say you're about to go kick a field goal and then right before the person kicks the field goal, the other team calls timeout. It's called icing the kicker because then, you know, you give him more time to think about it. They have to go back to the huddle, blah blah, blah. So for me, like there were so many times where I just felt like I kept getting iced because I would get set up and then we'd have to. Oh wait, wait, wait, wait. We have to go readjust the camera. We gotta go move something. So it happened a couple times to where I think the longer I had to think about it, the more I just kept getting in my head and I was cold.
Sadie Robertson
So this is where nothing to do with the tight shirt gets really good. Making it through the summer can feel like a full time sport. Whether you're packing up for a lake weekend, sweating through another sticky day outside, or trying to keep your energy up while the temps are rising. Hydration is everything. And that's why Element is a must have in my routine. It is a zero sugar electrolyte drink mix and sparkling water that actually makes a difference. No sugar, no junk, just clean, powerful hydration that helps you keep up with all the things. Real hydration is not just about drinking more water. And Element helps prevent all of that. It supports energy and focus, all without sugar or sketchy ingredients. And I love that. Element is made for everyone. Not just athletes, but moms, dads, gym buffs, us Special forces, and everyone in between who just wants to be better hydrated. So if you're on a mission to feel your best, this is the way to go. Whether you're crushing the day or just trying to make it to sundown, Element has got your back. I love Element. I've been a fan for years now. My favorite flavor used to be watermelon, but now the new lemonade one is my go to. I love it so much. Element has just helped me feel my best. Honestly, I used to get a lot of leg cramps, headaches, and all the different things that come with dehydration. But once the surgery can element those symptoms went away, which was so amazing. And I look forward to the taste every day. So get your free Element sample pack with any purchase@drinkelement.com Whoa. You can also try Element totally risk free. If you don't like it, they'll refund your order, no questions asked. That's drink elemenT-R-I n k l m n t.com Whoa. So we have all the film crew on the left side, all of our friends and family on the right side. Now, mind you remember everyone was talking about how loud it was the day they practice. So everyone was like, you have to wear headphones or earplugs. So we get all the kids in their big headphones. Everyone else gets earplugs. We're like, okay, is everybody good? Well, then right before we do it, the camera notices. Hey, actually, this isn't going to look as good as we want it to be on tv because y' all are standing so far away from the target. So whenever you know, pink or blue comes up, you're actually not going to see that at all from Yalls angle. So maybe we need, like, confetti or something behind y'. All. That way, from both shots, we have the color of the gender reveal. So, Lindsay, come on in. Our guest. Our guest for the show. Come on in, Lindsay, the star of last week's episode.
Willie Robertson
Thank you, Lindsay.
Sadie Robertson
Pink. It was so funny because, Lindsey, when did y' all decide?
Willie Robertson
You're like, this was also an unexpected. I didn't know that you were gonna do this either.
Christian Huff
All right, well, just for Yallsake, too, I was like, this is, like, for real. For real. And you had your photographer there. And I was like, you're not gonna get any, like, anything from the explosion. And I was like, I want your face. And you want this to be, you know, photographed in there forever. You know, when y' all go back and look at this and watch this or talk about it.
Sadie Robertson
So I was like, you've done our past two gender reveals, and we had great pictures, and you crush.
Christian Huff
And then pictures are all, you know, and that's just, like, held your tongue stuff. And I was like, I really want there to be, like, something behind y'.
Sadie Robertson
All.
Christian Huff
And like, the TV crew was saying, like, y' all didn't have anything. And to your point, you practice, you hit on the first shot. I was like, I had no.
Willie Robertson
Which.
Sadie Robertson
That.
Christian Huff
No inclination that you were going to miss. Like, I had so much trust in me.
Willie Robertson
Such a compliment.
Sadie Robertson
Yeah.
Willie Robertson
I wish I had that much trust.
Sadie Robertson
0. 0.
Willie Robertson
I wish Sadie had that much faith in me.
Sadie Robertson
Well, hey, I believe.
Christian Huff
Well. And also, if you've ever done a gender reveal and you've had to use a confetti, those things are so hard to twist.
Sadie Robertson
Yeah, they really are hard.
Christian Huff
So hard. So I was just, like, getting ready because I didn't want to miss the moment and had full confidence that you're gonna hit it.
Sadie Robertson
So the plan was. The plan was when Christian hits the target, Lindsey pops the confetti. So at the same time, pinker blue is coming up behind me and Christian and over by the target. Well, what happened was, if you've seen the episode is Christian shoots, there's so much anticipation, not only for the gender, but for the loud noise. Everyone's kind of bracing themselves. He misses. So there's like a two second silent pause. Then all of a sudden you hear boing, and then you just see pink start to trickle.
Willie Robertson
Well, it was like a couple hundred. It was probably as much as you just dumped on us.
Sadie Robertson
Anticlimactic so anticlimactic. So everyone's expecting, like, a boom peak. And we hear.
Willie Robertson
And then. Yeah. I did not know it was such a dichotomy. I did not know what to do in that moment because I was so ashamed of myself, but also confused.
Christian Huff
But at the same time, like, I was so mad at myself.
Willie Robertson
There was so many things.
Sadie Robertson
Did you drop a cuss word?
Christian Huff
Oh, yeah. I was like, oh, I'm about to be bleeped. Because I literally popped it and the explosion didn't happen. I turn around, I flip the confetti thing, and I say a bad word and I'll turn and there's a camera right in my face. And I was like, oh, this is gonna be lovely.
Sadie Robertson
It was so bad. Literally, Lindsay, for a week, like, would not talk about it.
Christian Huff
Would not.
Sadie Robertson
And everybody wanted to talk about it. Like, everyone at the office was, like, giving Lindsay a hard time, and she's like, it's not funny. And I was like, lindsay, it is funny. It's fine for me.
Christian Huff
It was such a bad day for.
Willie Robertson
Me in that moment, though. You really did, because some of the attention on me, no offense, got put on you.
Christian Huff
I know. But then I was like, it had to come back to you twice.
Willie Robertson
Came back to me twice.
Sadie Robertson
So then after that, we're both in this horrible portion.
Christian Huff
We're both in this horrible situation.
Sadie Robertson
It was so funny because the pink comes and, like, so all of a sudden, I just go, it's a girl. Like, you hear me say that on the show? Because I was so shocked it was a girl. The only thing I'm thinking about is the fact that we're having a girl. I'm like, what?
Willie Robertson
That was the last thing, Baby Joey.
Sadie Robertson
I was like, it's not a boy. All those dreams, all the I always wanted a brother. All the, like, symptoms. Like, it's a girl. I just was, like, in shock. Meanwhile, I didn't realize everyone else was thinking Christian. Just miss. And Lindsay just messed it up.
Willie Robertson
All my friends are flaming me.
Sadie Robertson
Yeah.
Willie Robertson
They literally had, like, bedded Jacob and John David. And your dad. Yeah, I lost your dad a couple hundred dollars, which I felt bad about.
Christian Huff
Well, and I didn't realize they were doing that.
Willie Robertson
Which also made me feel better that your dad was betting on me.
Christian Huff
And I didn't realize they were doing that. And then John David's, like, blowing me up afterwards. Like, I can't believe you did that. Like, and just jokes, you know? And so I was just like, I'm never gonna live this down.
Willie Robertson
So then yeah. So after this happens, you know, everyone's like, okay, let's get reset. Let's do it again. Surely, you know, surely he'll hit this next time. So same thing. Take a couple minutes, get everything repositioned, get people back lined up. You know, same energy.
Sadie Robertson
And the whole time, I was like, y', all, let's just play it how it happened, because this is true, and this is hilarious.
Christian Huff
Yeah.
Sadie Robertson
But since we did, like, actually practice for this, and they had this whole idea, and, like, Dynasty loves a good explosion. I mean, I was just like, you should keep going, but we don't have to, like, film it. Like, it happened that way the first time. Let's just be in the moment.
Christian Huff
Oh, yeah. Well, also because Christian had to shoot two more times, he lost all of his arrows.
Willie Robertson
So for people explaining that. Don't. So let me get it in a second. So, yeah, so. So second time, we reposition. Missed the second shot, which was very unfortunate, too. And I was like, well, I'm down to my last arrow, which is not good. It's also a book by Earwin McManus, not a plug. So last arrow, everyone's, you know, get re situated. Everyone's, you know, amped up, and then it was just like, a dude. But I'm pretty sure my third shot kind of clipped it. It just didn't fully explode besides the point.
Sadie Robertson
Okay, but can I just say, you. You said that, and my dad tells everybody that, and everybody says that, but on this show, it's pretty clear that it didn't hit me.
Willie Robertson
Okay, well, it was one of the three clipped it. I can. I promise you, 101 of the three clipped it.
Christian Huff
But you had to hit, like, yes, you had it.
Sadie Robertson
For it to explode.
Willie Robertson
For the thing to explode, I'm saying it was literally this big. You had to hit it dead center for it to actually explode. And we had two taped together. Right. For a bigger explosion. So it actually literally would had to go through the center. So my third arrow is gone. So then production's like, well, can we just, you know, run to Academy and get you some more arrows? And that's what I'm saying. If you know anything about hunting, like, if you have an actual vertical bow, the arrows are configured specifically to that bow. So you can't. There's no, like, generic, at least for the kind of bow I have. There's no generic, like, arrows and stuff to go put on this bow. So, you know, somebody would have had to take my bow to this specialty place in town and, like, get it get them shaved down, and then the whole thing strung and everything. So we break for lunch, and it's, like, the longest hour of my life.
Christian Huff
It was not an hour.
Willie Robertson
Yes, lunch was.
Christian Huff
I think we, like, well, everybody was like, eat. And I was like, okay, I will go to your house.
Willie Robertson
I'm saying, you didn't take an hour. But by the time we ended up doing lunch, okay, the whole thing was, like, an hour. Yeah, because then they had to get.
Sadie Robertson
I was like, everybody, just keep partying. It's so funny from their perspective, because they both. I was, like, so stressed. I was, like, literally having the time of my life. At our gender reveal party, like, it's a girl. I went and got my caucus. I fixed my plate. I'm talking to everybody. Like, I can't even believe it's a girl. But, like, I'm not thinking about it. And then someone's like, hey, I think Christian's, like, like, a little upset.
Willie Robertson
And I was like, at this white picket fence, I'm, like, looking at these horses, and I'm like, oh, no. I'm just, like, depressed.
Sadie Robertson
So then it was so obviously very.
Willie Robertson
Grateful for another girl. I kind of was hoping it was gonna be another girl, but, like, internally just like, yeah.
Sadie Robertson
So I see him over there, like, looking out at the horses.
Willie Robertson
I'm, like, kicking the fence and, like.
Sadie Robertson
Walk up to him, and it was actually really sweet that they showed that. And I was like, are you sad that it's a girl? Are you sad that you missed? And he's like, like, I'm sad that I missed. And I'm like, oh, okay. Well, I. I don't care that you missed. Like, that was funny, and it was fine. I was like, we're having a girl. And I feel like that was probably the first time it kind of, like, hit you like, oh, we're having a girl. Because Christian actually did want another girl. Everyone, you know, when they find out we're having a girl, like, Francis said, oh, Christian, he's outnumbered. I'm like, no, he was actually, like, rooting for another girl. Girl. Life is so fun. We love having girls. Like, and I will say, too, even though I really thought it was a boy, I did not have an ounce or a moment of disappointment, which I don't think you should, you know? But I have heard that from people, and if. If you do, it's no shame. But I. I thought I might be a little bit like, oh, like, I wanted a boy. I really did it. I was like, oh, my gosh. Like, this is amazing. And then we talked about it. And so I didn't know why he was sad because I had like continue on the party because in my mind, she was like. In my mind, it was just like, I was. I only cared about what the gender was. And I also truly thought that that whole thing I did so funny.
Willie Robertson
But I also.
Sadie Robertson
And I was like, that is gonna be so funny when we see this back on tv because of this.
Willie Robertson
That was a tough thing. Everyone else was like, that was the. That was the struggle for me because everyone else was so happy I missed because it was gonna be, you know, better for the.
Sadie Robertson
I wasn't happy you missed, but I just thought it was funny because with what Lindsay did made it funny.
Christian Huff
Yeah.
Sadie Robertson
If you just would admit.
Willie Robertson
No, it's one of those things where, like, it literally. It actually looks like we made it. Like, that was not real.
Sadie Robertson
It looks like you meant to, but it was actually.
Christian Huff
I definitely.
Willie Robertson
I can promise you I would not have intentionally missed. Open the door.
Sadie Robertson
Open. You would never intentionally miss or lose.
Willie Robertson
I would never intentionally sabotage myself.
Sadie Robertson
Summer, our house is a whole different kind of busy, especially this year with another baby on the way. Routines go out the window, meals happen, you know, whenever. And trying to get my kids to eat something healthy, well, that is a daily battle. And let's face it, most kids supplements out there just don't cut it. And so it was great to be able to give her a chocolate milk that was actually healthy for her and that was like the best way to get it in. And now it's something that I'm so thankful to have because it really is hard to get them to eat healthy. So when I need them to eat healthy, I can mask it with chocolate milk or chocolate chip cookie flavor. Willie Robertson
So I had no more arrows for my bow, and I can't remember who had the idea, but someone was like, we actually need the explosion to happen.
Sadie Robertson
Like, can we still see that?
Willie Robertson
So Lindsey ran to our house to get my crossbow, which is in the hunting world. Would be a slight lower. Easier, a little lower tier.
Sadie Robertson
It's like pulling the guardrail.
Willie Robertson
Sure, if you want to say that.
Christian Huff
That's such a good, good representation.
Sadie Robertson
That was pretty good.
Willie Robertson
Yeah, that was good. So, yes, I was a crippled bowler, if that's what we're gonna say.
Sadie Robertson
Hey, just because you have the rails does not mean you're gonna bowl a strike.
Christian Huff
Hey. And I had to give Willy. I had to give Willie the other popcorn. I was like, I'm not doing this again.
Willie Robertson
It means you're not gonna land in the gutter.
Sadie Robertson
I know, but it doesn't mean you're gonna go strike. Still had to do something.
Willie Robertson
So Lindsay goes and gets my crossbow very graciously. And then, yes, I end up hitting it with my crossbow, which was great.
Sadie Robertson
But also, at that point, we had known for an hour and a half that it was a girl.
Willie Robertson
Yeah.
Christian Huff
Yeah. But we wanted everybody to know what the explosion was like, because it was very cool. Crazy.
Willie Robertson
It was very loud.
Sadie Robertson
It was very loud and really cool. It was so sweet. Honey's like, come on, daddy. You got it. I love, though, like. Like, in the episode, watching it back, I was like, that's. That was actually really sweet that dad was actually helping you with the crossbow, like, the shot, which you could have done. But, yeah, that was sweet because I.
Willie Robertson
Didn'T know what I was doing.
Sadie Robertson
I know, but that was really sweet because I was like, you were trying to impress dad, you know? But at the end of the day, and I said this on the show, I Was like, is dad really gonna be impressed by you hitting it? I was like, that's because I was like, that's like inviting Steph Curry to your gender reveal party. And it's like, steph, I'm gonna shoot a three pointer, and that's how we're gonna find out. Like, if you make the three pointer, is Steph Curry, like, wow, you're so imp. Probably not, because he does it all the time, but if you miss it, Steph Curry's like, bro, so, like, dad, I don't know that he would have been, like, necessarily like, whoa, you're shot. Whatever. Maybe he would have. But what was sweet is he was like, he was so for you. He betted on you because he thought you were gonna do it, and then he helped you and, like, wanted to teach you. And I think the thing with dad is, like, he doesn't want you to feel like you have to impress him. He wants to be able to coach you, you know? And so I thought it was, like, actually a really sweet moment in life and a good little lesson, like, you don't have to try to impress your father in law. He just loves you and, like, actually wants to do it with you. So it ended up being very sweet.
Willie Robertson
Yeah, it ended up being very sweet.
Christian Huff
But I see that in Willie a lot too. Just in life and business and all the things. Like, he does, like, to make fun of a lot of people, and he gives you a hard time, but at the same time, like, if you really need help or if you really need good advice, he'll come out. And he's, like, always willing to. He wants you to make somebody better and be, you know, be successful. So he was for you.
Sadie Robertson
He was not making fun of you. Jacob was.
Willie Robertson
Yeah, he wasn't.
Sadie Robertson
Jacob's brutal.
Willie Robertson
Jacob's just. Yeah, Jacob's Jacob.
Sadie Robertson
But the whole thing was awesome. And, Lindsay, thank you for being a part of it and making it awesome.
Christian Huff
I was gonna say, you didn't ruin it.
Sadie Robertson
You made it well.
Christian Huff
And just too just having to hold that secret in just the week before, I feel like it was such a short time period that people don't know about. But, like, you're like, we're finding out. And the party's like, next week. And I was like, well, are we even gonna have the results in time?
Sadie Robertson
Because it was stressful.
Christian Huff
I was like, what? I didn't even want to tell you, but I called up to the place that you had it done. I was like, hey, I haven't gotten an email yet. You Know, like, recently she was there. Like, we didn't even have her on the schedule. And I'm like, what? What do you mean? Like, you know, And I'm like, wait, I need this. You know? And they were like, oh, well, she didn't, you know, she wasn't on the schedule. And I was like, are you sure we're talking about the same person here?
Sadie Robertson
Like, what? Well, actually, I will say then I'm.
Christian Huff
Glad I did tell you because I was like, like, wait, what? And then I think you ended up just going to your doctor.
Sadie Robertson
Okay. What happened was this is kind of crazy. So we were heading for a trip to London. We were going to be gone for two weeks.
Christian Huff
Yeah.
Sadie Robertson
So we wanted to get it all shot before we went to London because we were doing it for filming and all the stuff. And like, Christian's parents were coming into town. We'd already kind of set the date. Well, then I was like, oh, shoot, now I need to, like, find out the gender. So I did my blood tests. Like, I did the. All of the testing that you do at your doctor. And it also tells you if there's, you know, anything wrong with the baby. And those take a little bit longer than just like a gender test. Well, I didn't realize how much longer it was going to take. So that's what happened because they were like, oh, it's maybe not going to be here for like two weeks. And I was like, oh, shoot, that's like after the gender reveal party. So I was like, okay, I'll just go get one of those 24 hour tests and do it real fast. Well, our local, like, boutique, it's a kids boutique, but they do ultrasounds. We actually have that on the show too. At first glimpse, they do the 24 hour results. Well, I go to do it and they stick the little needle thing in me and my blood clotted. Like it. It just literally didn't drip.
Christian Huff
Yeah.
Sadie Robertson
And she's like, this is so weird. So she's like, okay, let's try the other arm. So we do like a heating pad on my arm. We do every single thing to make it bleed. It clots. And I was like, what the heck? So then I was like, okay. She's like, well, maybe, I don't know, like, I've never had this happen. She. Maybe it's cold outside and you're cold. But we did the heating pad. Like, we're going through everything. She's like, you're just going to have to come back back another day. And I'm like, Meanwhile, need that this week. So Friday was my last chance to do it. I woke up, I drank so much water. I like drank an elephant so much water. I did heating pads on my arms, like wore long sleeves. I did everything and got there and my blood clotted again. It like barely made it to the first line. Then I was like, something wrong with me. But anyways, it came back. As you know, the results did get to Lindsay, but I told Lindsay, I was like, hey, I don't know if I trust that. Like, because I was like, I was asking. You didn't even make it to the second line. Yeah. And so thankfully my other results came in too, and it was both a girl. But I told you, I was like.
Willie Robertson
Now we have seen the ultrasound.
Christian Huff
I was like, even after this, like, please go to the doctor. Like make sure. Because I was like, like, yeah, I. You were telling me they said sometimes it would read yours and give you a false.
Sadie Robertson
They said it would not be false if it was a boy, but if it's a girl, it could be wrong. Cuz it might have just been your blood since you were so little.
Christian Huff
Please go back and check this cuz we're about to tell everybody.
Sadie Robertson
So we almost had a gender reveal fail because we didn't know the gender and then we actually knew the gender, but we had a different version of a fill. Craving something refreshingly delicious. Meet Joyba. Ready to drink bubble tea Packed with juicy popping boba and bursting with bold refreshing flavor. These delicious fruity bubble teas are available ready to drink at your local retailers. My algorithm hits me with it because I think that they're so funny. I. Yeah. And so I think that's why I really didn't.
Christian Huff
Well, now we have.
Sadie Robertson
I was like, oh my gosh, it happened to us. Like that is hilarious. And I wish you could be there in the moment because it's probably funnier if you were there than just watching. But it was just the anticipation of the sound that didn't hit that made it even funnier because it was like such a. Just the explosion didn't go off. Two seconds of just silence and then that little bitty pop was just hilarious. So the whole day was so fun and so funny.
Willie Robertson
The whole day, it was a dream.
Sadie Robertson
I know it wasn't for you at first, but then you got happy, you know Who I felt bad for almost more than you.
Willie Robertson
Who?
Sadie Robertson
Your sweet mother. I did because Sheree Huff, she's the kindest woman out there.
Willie Robertson
And she felt worse for my mom.
Sadie Robertson
Because she felt so bad for you. And I didn't realize you were actually sad, so I was telling her, worse.
Willie Robertson
For me than you.
Sadie Robertson
No, I know. I know. And I do feel bad for that. But I was telling your mom. I was like, oh, no. Like, he's fine. Like, I. I didn't realize the situation.
Willie Robertson
Bawling, crying in the bathroom.
Sadie Robertson
So I'm like, no, he's fine. And I was telling your mom. I was like, it's funny. I was like, it's gonna be so funny. It'll be so fun to watch it back. And it doesn't matter. It's just like. And I was like, that target was so small, and. And it's cold. There's way too much pressure on him. I'm, like, hyping your mom up. And then I realized, oh, shoot, I do need to go talk. So I'm sorry. That was on me. Sometimes Mother knows best. And she. She definitely didn't.
Willie Robertson
Is that a song you were referencing?
Sadie Robertson
Mother knows best?
Willie Robertson
Thank you.
Sadie Robertson
Listen to your mother.
Christian Huff
Well, and I was just gonna give one more. One more clarification, too, because I need to, like, clear my. My conscience, but put it out there.
Willie Robertson
You can confess.
Christian Huff
I was Gonn film crew did kind of trick me whenever I got bleeped.
Sadie Robertson
Oh, yeah, because you did mess up twice.
Christian Huff
Yeah. And I was like, that is so not fair. Because when we were, like, setting up and everything, they were like, okay, explain how this works. And I was like, I mean, when Christian hits this, the pink is gonna pop out. And I was like, oh, gosh. But they were like. They literally said, explain to the camera, like, in. Like, you were talking to a child. And so, like, I did. And I was like, wait, y' all just tricked me. Like, I've done so good, like, not to tell anybody. You walked into your own.
Sadie Robertson
So many people.
Christian Huff
Yeah, so many people.
Sadie Robertson
Secret, though.
Christian Huff
They all keep coming. And, you know, like, what is it?
Sadie Robertson
What is it?
Christian Huff
We know you know? We know you know, and, like, people try to get it out of you. And then the film crew is like, well, explain it to us. And I was like, oh, my gosh. It should have never fell for that.
Sadie Robertson
It was so funny, though. And they didn't. I didn't know any of them knew. They played it really, really cool. Because the day of Annie was, like, asking me what I think it is. I was telling her, boy, she never flinched, and she knew the whole time. So that's so funny. Lindsay, thank you for being a part of the podcast and embracing the public. After. After.
Christian Huff
Yeah, I'm like, ready? I'm like, oh, man, you helped lighten my lip.
Sadie Robertson
You're the best. And you look cute. And you're pink. Now that we can tell the world it's a girl.
Christian Huff
I wanted to wear this.
Willie Robertson
I want a pink shirt.
Sadie Robertson
I know, but we should get you pink. You have three girls. You gotta wear pink.
Willie Robertson
Yeah, you should give me a pink shirt.
Sadie Robertson
I will get you a pink shirt.
Willie Robertson
I would wear it.
Sadie Robertson
Hey, listen, I really. I'm sorry that you were disappointed inside and the outcome didn't go the way you wanted, but the outcome did go. It plays better the way with our sweet girl who is almost here, by the way. Literally, by the time this podcast comes out, she could be here right now. I don't even know. This is so crazy. But our next podcast that Christian and I will do together, we'll do the birth story like we've done in the past, and we would love to share how we came up with her name. That still is not revealed yet, so we'll get to that the next time. But on this maternity leave, I have some epic guests. We've recorded so many amazing podcasts that I cannot wait for you guys to listen to. Just really solid conversations with people that I look up to so much, and tons of them even flew here to even have the conversations. And so next few months of what that's good is going to be so good, and I can't wait for you guys to listen. And next time we see you, hopefully we'll have a little baby and girl in her arms and telling you then her name story. So thank you all for following along this journey, and we love to see how excited you guys are for our family growing. It honestly means so much to us. And even just Yalls interest this whole time and is it a boy? Is it a girl? Has meant so much and been so, so sweet and so fun. So you guys are the best, and we're so grateful for how you love our family and we love you guys. Sam.
WHOA That's Good Podcast: Episode Summary
Title: Pink, Blue, and a Bow-and-Arrow Oops: What Really Happened at Our Gender Reveal | Sadie & Christian
Release Date: August 4, 2025
Host: Sadie Robertson Huff
Guests: Christian Huff
In this heartfelt and humorous episode of the "WHOA That's Good" podcast, host Sadie Robertson Huff sits down with her husband, Christian Huff, to recount the unforgettable moments of their recent gender reveal for their third child. Titled "Pink, Blue, and a Bow-and-Arrow Oops: What Really Happened at Our Gender Reveal," this episode delves deep into the unexpected twists and emotional rollercoaster that unfolded during their much-anticipated celebration.
The journey to discovering their baby's gender was anything but ordinary. Sadie shares how their daughter, Honey, began prophesying the arrival of a baby boy named Joey well before Sadie and Christian were even planning to expand their family.
Sadie Robertson Huff [03:25]: "Honey started saying that I have a baby boy in my tummy and his name is Joey. It was so weird."
This prophetic behavior persisted, with Honey persistently speaking about her brother Joey, leading Sadie and Christian to take a closer look at the divine signs guiding their family's expansion. Discovering that "Joey" means "God will increase and add to" provided them with reassurance and peace about their growing family.
Building on their previous gender reveals for their other children, Sadie and Christian wanted this event to be special and reflective of their personalities. Christian's passion for hunting inspired the idea of a bow-and-arrow themed reveal.
Sadie Robertson Huff [17:07]: "We were thinking like shooting my bow and arrow to find out the gender of the baby."
The couple collaborated with their film crew to design a setup that would be both dramatic and meaningful, hoping to impress Christian's father while celebrating the joyous occasion with family and friends.
The day of the gender reveal was meticulously planned, with Christian set to shoot an arrow at a target designed to release pink or blue confetti, symbolizing a girl or boy respectively.
