When he walked into his first radio station, all he knew about radio came from watching the first two seasons of "WKRP in Cincinnati." WKRP launched a fun and successful 40 year audio production and advertising career...now, it's time to talk about it!!

Arthur "Big Guy" Carlson of WKRP Radio in Cincinnati is one such business executive. Art's been bitten by the political bug! He's ready to steer Cincinnati in the right direction as an esteemed member of the Queen City's Council. Current incumbent Charles "Chuck" Tillman isn't delivering the goods in Art's eyes. He's missing meetings, missing votes and generally NOT doing the job he was elected to do. According to Bailey's old college roommate, Chuck's lack of participation might have something to do with his drinking. Drinking?! That's a bombshell!! But, come on, they can't use something like that!! Even Bailey, who delivered this news, said they can't use something like that (so, hmmm...why did she SAY it?) There's general agreement it shouldn't be used (Herb's not so sure). Unfortunately, saying you won't use it is one thing...knowing that bit of information while in the heat of the debate proves too tempting. Art blurts it out in anger. Les is getting down in the muck on the phone, Jennifer is racking up the campaign contributions and Mitzi wants to get that stain out!! Haven't voted lately? It's time to cast YOUR vote for Arthur C. Steel definitely has the teeth, the hair and the, uh...derriere...to drive the ladies wild, but the pretty package is very empty.Vapid and self-centered are acceptable to Jennifer. Lecherous and sponging off her for money...that's another matter. When Steel needs two hundred dollars to fix his van, he discovers Jennifer is nobody's Sugar Mama. Art's ready to step up with a sound thrashing...if only his shoulder was willing. Jennifer tosses Steel out. She'll have to go home alone with nothing but her microwaves and acoustical ceiling to keep her company. CBS was all over him during the first season of WKRP to write more "visual gags." Over on ABC, "Laverne & Shirley" was a hit doing a lot of slapstick. Hugh resisted...he fought it...he thought it was lowbrow. He said WKRP is smarter than that!! The Mighty KRP talks about the Archduke Ferdinand and being obtuse!! Hugh gave in. THIS is the result!! Turns out, Hugh's pretty darn funny when he writes visual gags. "Fish Story" is LOADED with the most over-the-top visuals you could imagine...and they ALL...well, okay...and MOST of them work!! This is where they tucked in that incredible B-story about Johnny getting clearer headed with each shot of whiskey!! It's hilarious!! So if you're ready, grab a hat...I don't know, ask Venus...and load up the gang for one heck of a joyride. We also meet an old friend from her hometown of "Rock Throw" West Virginia. This old friend, T.J. Watson, claims Jennifer promised to marry him. Jennifer doesn't remember any such thing, but rather than argue she decides to tell T.J. she's already married. Enter our hero, Johnny Fever. The good Doctor takes the fall for Jennifer...literally. This outing is madcap, loaded with laughs and...somewhat sunken, as Johnny's about top learn. Episode Writer and Season One Story Editor Tom Chehak is back with more great stories from the set. This one is a hoot from the holler! Stick some hotdogs in the hotdogger, grab what's left outta Herb's six of beers and hit 'play'...do I hear "Fly Me to the Moon"? We highly recommend the 'Shout Factory' boxed DVD set of the entire WKRP series. For reasons you'll have to listen to in the "Prolog" episode, all streaming versions of the original "WKRP in Cincinnati" have had the original music cues removed. Generic music beds and stings were used in place of the original music for the syndicated version of the series. 'Shout Factory' has been able to restore an estimated 85% of all WKRP music cues to the original "as-aired" content for their DVD release. They've also restored scenes that had been cut to shorten episodes for syndication. The original eps ran 25 minutes. The syndication eps were shortened to 22 minutes. Over 88 episodes that's more than four hours of lost content, including the performance by "Detective" at the end of "Hoodlum Rock." Get the COMPLETE series...get the Shout Factory DVDs. The Shout Factory complete series box has a release date of 2014.
