Lately I've been trying to dress a little better because if anyone's seen me walking around the neighborhood, you know that
I don't always dress for success.
I dress for comfort and speed. And I'm not talking speed walking, I'm talking speed of finding something to wear. Well, lately I am being more intentional. I'm trying to look like a real adult New York lady. And you know what's helped me out? Quince. Quince has clothes that feel effortless, comfortable and still put together. It's just elevating my whole wardrobe game. Quince has been my go to. The fabrics feel elevated, the fits are flattering and everything just works without overthinking it. Quince makes it so easy to refresh your everyday this spring with pieces that feel as good as they look. They use premium materials like 100% European linen, organic cotton and ultra soft denim. And everything at quince is priced 50 to 80% less than similar brands. They work directly with ethical factories and cut out the middlemen. So you're just paying for quality and craftsmanship and not brand markup.
Irene and I got the jeans and
I can tell you Quint's denim has been a real stand up for us. It has that structured, supportive feel, but it still feels really soft.
And I can say Irene looks like
a million bucks in these Quint's jeans.
I mean I'd like to say I
do too but frankly that would just be boastful.
So I'm just gonna say that Irene
in the Quince jeans is a real great fit. Also, when we saw the price we genuinely double checked because the prices on quints are so much lower than you're gonna find in stores. So refresh your everyday with LU. Actually use head to quince.com woo for free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. Now available in Canada too. That's Q-U-I-N-C-E.com woo for free shipping and 365 day returns. Quince.com woo. Hi everyone and welcome to Woo. Woo. This week we're re upping one of our favorite episodes. It's with my dear friend Jeff Hiller. This episode was so fun and there's a lot of Laughs. But also some woo woo, too. Woo, woo and laughs. What more could you need? Jeff is an author of the book Actress of a Certain Age, which everyone's reading right now. He also does the audiobook version of it if you want to hear it from him, with his own comedic stylings. And also you're going to listen to us talk about manifesting in this episode. Keep in mind, since this episode went up, that after that Jeff won the Emmy, it's talked about on here as a possibility, and afterwards, he won it. So universe. Anyway, please enjoy our chat with the great Jeff Hiller. Welcome to Woo Woo with Rachel Dratch, the podcast that explores the unexplained with humor and curiosity. Hello, and welcome to Woo Woo with
Rachel Dratch, here with Irene Bremes. Hi, Irene.
Irene Bremes
Hello, Rachel.
Rachel Dratch
Irene, we have an old pal of mine. And, you know, I always like when I'm a young, old pal of mine.
Actually.
Yes, in this demographic, you count as young Jeff. Now please welcome Jeff Hiller.
Irene Bremes
Hello. Hi, Jeff.
Jeff Hiller
Or should I say hello?
Rachel Dratch
You're a youth. Beautiful gentleman. Jeff, I'm so happy to see you.
Jeff Hiller
I'm happy to see you too.
Rachel Dratch
Thanks for doing this.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah, this'll be fun.
Rachel Dratch
This'll be fun.
Jeff Hiller
Well, I really like woo stuff. That's why I say that.
Rachel Dratch
Okay, good. No, I was really excited. Cause when I asked you, I was very. I was, like, delighted to know that you actually had a few stories up your belt. No, not up your belt. Sorry. Up your sleeve. I'm gonna leave your belt out of this. Jeff and I met Irene. I don't even know if you know this, but we met.
Irene Bremes
I don't.
Rachel Dratch
Well, I'm gonna say it was. For me, it was a bucket list moment. And I hate the word bucket list so much. I don't know how you feel about it, Jeff, but we both. I can assume we both were achieving checking something off our bucket list, because we both got to do Shakespeare in the park together.
Irene Bremes
Ooh, nice.
Rachel Dratch
And that's how. For sure, that's how we really met.
Jeff Hiller
Met.
Rachel Dratch
Right. I think.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah. I think that's.
Rachel Dratch
Yeah.
Jeff Hiller
That's the only story of how we met.
Rachel Dratch
Yeah.
Irene Bremes
Okay.
Rachel Dratch
That's the only story how we met. And not only were we in this play, we were in Love's Labor's Lost for you Shakespeare aficionados. And we were not only in the play together, but we were paired together as a duo, which was very funny already even before we uttered a word, because I'm only five one. And, Jeff, how tall are You.
Jeff Hiller
Six, Five.
Rachel Dratch
Six, five. Wow. Wow. So we came on as this duo all the time, and I was this professor who. This arrogant professor. And I would boss Jeff around all the time. So right away, there's comedy there. A short person yelling at a tall person.
Come on.
Jeff Hiller
That's what we call juxtaposition.
Rachel Dratch
Yes. But we had a lot of fun in that play.
Jeff Hiller
We did.
Rachel Dratch
And it was a musical, actually. It was a musical version of Love's Labor's Lost. Jeff.
Jeff Hiller
And we came in on page 52.
Rachel Dratch
I don't know. I was gonna say. Jeff, do you wanna talk about our backstage antics before we go into things?
Jeff Hiller
Yeah. There was a full play before we even came on. There was, like, a whole arc of a show before we even were on the stage. And so we. We had, like, hours.
Rachel Dratch
Feel like we had an hour.
Jeff Hiller
At least a full hour backstage.
Rachel Dratch
Yeah.
Jeff Hiller
And we joked that we would do
Rachel Dratch
latch key, latch hook rug kits and a book club.
Jeff Hiller
We did have a book club.
Rachel Dratch
To have a book club together. And then I started joking about latch hook rug kits. And then, of course, I had to actually buy one for you, but I accidentally bought one that was, like, a real expert. It wasn't even fun. It was, like, very. It was a lot of, like, handy. It was like. It was one that, like, old Italian ladies would do. It wasn't one that, like, you did when you were in seventh grade that you got at a craft store.
Jeff Hiller
Right.
Rachel Dratch
So we never really even started the Latch and Grow, but we did have a lot of bonding time backstage.
Jeff Hiller
We did. We did.
Rachel Dratch
Since then, Jeff has gone on to great stardom. And by the way, Jeff, you might know Jeff from the show Somebody Somewhere.
Irene Bremes
Oh, yeah. I love you on that show, Jeff.
Jeff Hiller
Fantastic show.
Rachel Dratch
Wait, it's on hbo, right?
Jeff Hiller
Yeah, it is.
Irene Bremes
Okay.
Rachel Dratch
Do we call that Max now or what? I don't know.
Jeff Hiller
Well, it's on both.
Rachel Dratch
Okay.
Jeff Hiller
I'm not gonna be able to.
Rachel Dratch
Somewhere around HBO and Max lies Somebody Somewhere that Jeff is on with Bridget Everett and Murray Hill, among others.
Jeff Hiller
Oh, my God. Let's see.
Rachel Dratch
Such a great show. Great show, Jeff. You're so good in it.
Jeff Hiller
Thank you.
Rachel Dratch
And I also want to say, Jeff, I don't know if you remember this. I'm pretty sure that I'm not remembering this wrong, but I think back when we were hanging out backstage, so I thought you were so talented. Right. And you'd come up through ucb, and I just thought you were so funny. And you know how hard it is to break into the biz. And I used to joke that within five years I was going to make you one of the power gays in the business. Okay. And I just thought of this today because I was friends with. Not to name job, Harry. Let me just. Let me name job to my fan base here. I was already friends with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Michael Urie and Cheyenne Jackson, what I called the tranvert of power gays in the business. So anyway, I was like, jeff, within five years I'm gonna make you one of the power gays. And I'd like to say, okay, maybe it took a little more than five years, but you are now a power gay.
Irene Bremes
You are.
Jeff Hiller
You are.
Rachel Dratch
I've seen you on talk shows, I've seen you in the press. I've seen you living in your moment here.
Jeff Hiller
And you know where you haven't seen me? In the closet.
Rachel Dratch
That's right, sweetie. So true, so true. Oh my gosh. Also, Jeff does these fantastic one man shows.
Irene Bremes
I saw your one man show with Amazing.
Rachel Dratch
You came. That's so nice. I thought you guys had met then.
Jeff Hiller
Yes, yes.
Rachel Dratch
We saw you. Well, we've seen two of your shows. I know. We saw Grief Bacon, which I loved. And then I think I saw middle aged Donjanou.
Jeff Hiller
Maybe you came to that one. I've seen a few.
Rachel Dratch
Anyway, if you have a chance to see Jeff perform. I don't. Do you take these around the land or are they just in New York, Louisiana?
Jeff Hiller
Well, I'm not gonna lie to you. I tried to take them around the land and they didn't sell so well.
Rachel Dratch
What? This is an outrage.
Jeff Hiller
So by power gay, we sort of like a. It's sort of a soft.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, my God.
Well, I like your honesty though because we discuss showbiz a lot in here. We talk about the ups and downs, kid.
Jeff Hiller
I'm not afraid to talk about the downs, baby.
Rachel Dratch
Right. It's not all a bed of roses, but somebody somewhere. You guys got a Peabody Award, I believe, right?
Irene Bremes
Such a challenge.
Rachel Dratch
Among other awards.
Right. And were you nominated?
Jeff Hiller
That's the only one. It's a big one.
Rachel Dratch
You're gonna get one on one. Make it to Peabody.
Jeff Hiller
That's what I say.
Rachel Dratch
Wait, were you nominated for an Emmy, by the way?
Jeff Hiller
No.
Rachel Dratch
Okay, well, you know what? On this show, that's gonna be our
Irene Bremes
vision board on this show.
Rachel Dratch
That's my next. I've never been to the Emmys myself.
Jeff Hiller
I'm gonna do manifest.
Irene Bremes
Manifest.
Jeff Hiller
I'm gonna woo woo Manifest it.
Rachel Dratch
Oh my God, I love it. Well, Jeff, speaking of manifesting in woo woo, you said you're Kind of a w. Woo Woo guy.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah. Because, you know, I think it's. Cause I grew up real, like, Christian, and like, you know, you. When you grow up that way, you sort of are like, oh, God has a plan. And there's all this, like, destiny or whatever. And then when you start to be like, oh, wait, I'm seeing some cracks. I'm seeing some cracks in the. In the world here in the Sistine Chapel ceiling. And so I started looking for other things. So I'm just really into it. And also, I just. I don't know. It's just fun, right?
Rachel Dratch
It's fun, right?
Jeff Hiller
Sit around and talk about it. Like, I'm totally into. I love reading a horoscope. I do love talking about ghosts and stuff. My sister is really big into talk. Our mom is dead. And she's really big into, like, talking about how our mom, like, for instance, my sister always. She always. Whenever she flies, she always has a seat next to her. It's like, really bizarrely consistent. And she's like. She always sends me a picture and says, like, mama left a seat for me. Because, like, when they would travel here, they would often buy a seat on the. And the window and not in the middle. And the hope would be no one would show up and they would have room. And so. But here's the thing, is that my mom doesn't do that for me. And I find that a little harsh because I'm taller than my sister.
Rachel Dratch
You need the leg room.
Irene Bremes
You need the emergency aisle for you, baby. First class.
Jeff Hiller
That's right. Anyway, but yeah, she's. We're really. We're really into that stuff. My sister and I will always talk about signs from our mother.
Rachel Dratch
Have you had any signs or.
Jeff Hiller
I did get a sign from my mom. I pretty sure my. My mom had died. And my dad, he was in going into, like, a rehab thing. And it was this weird thing where, like, these vultures were attacking our house.
Rachel Dratch
The prophecy. Yeah, exactly.
Jeff Hiller
I think I say this in grief. Bacon. I'm like, is it still a metaphor when it's that obvious? Like, the death word is on your house? But anyway, we had to go in and clear some stuff out. Cause we were gonna have a family friend stay there so that the vultures would get scared away. And I found this Ziploc bag. And in it was all of these things from our trip to New York City in 1989. And it was this big thing. It was like a. It was a playbill of the first show we saw on Broadway. And then it was like a gay newspaper that was celebrating the 20th anniversary of Stonewall. And I found it right before the 50th anniversary of Stonewall. And it was all about gay marriage. And my mom really loves my husband and threw us a little wedding reception. And it was, there was an article in it about moms who love their gay sons.
Rachel Dratch
Sweet.
Jeff Hiller
And I felt like that was my sign from my mom.
Rachel Dratch
Nice.
Jeff Hiller
I mean, also like maybe not. I don't know.
Rachel Dratch
Well, we're always willing to go with the sign.
Jeff Hiller
With the sign. Okay, good.
Rachel Dratch
I was willing to go on the side that it was a sign.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah, but that's the big sign that I got. But then, you know, I don't know. I'm always into all sorts of stuff. I love everything. Woo woo.
Rachel Dratch
Did you know 91% of dog parents say their pup is an important member of the family? I mean, that's no surprise, right? But how about this? 40% would even save their dog over a human stranger. What have we become? Well, it's safe to say that people are obsessed with their dogs. I mean, you know, I talk about Ruffles on here all the time. We've even had several animal communicators on to find out Ruffles inner thoughts and frankly, well, she's got some grievances. We're addressing those with administration. In any case, if anyone gets being dog obsessed, it is Ollie. They're relentless about delivering the best food and experience for you and your dog. And they give you a way to check in on their health over and over and over again. What sets Ollie apart is, well, the food. I mean, as you may know, an animal communicator way back when told me Ruffles said she would prefer fresh food. And that's where Ollie came in. Yes, that's how woo woo it all became. But all these fresh recipes are developed by real chefs and backed by vet nut. They're obsessed with making the best meals with the highest quality ingredients. And I would have to say if Ruffles could talk, that's what she would say too. And from the moment you start your subscription, everything is tailored to your pup. The meals are perfectly portioned and you get a wait a minute puptainer and scoop for easy storing and serving. Also, you get health check ins, not just food. Through their app, you can actually check in on your dog's health with real vets. That's a really nice bonus for switching to Ollie. And like I said, Ruffles will scarf down Ollie, unlike the dry food I was giving her before. She spoke her mind and it only took an animal communicator to set me on the right path. So get ready for both you and your pup to be obsessed. Head to ollie.com woo and tell them all about your dog. And use code WOO to get 70% off your welcome kit when you subscribe today. Plus, they offer an obsession guarantee. If you're not completely obsessed, you'll get your Money back. That's Ollie o l l I-e.com woo and enter code woo to get 70% off your first order. Jeff Hiller
Do you know Human Design? Are you. Do you know?
Irene Bremes
No?
Jeff Hiller
Okay, well, I have a Human Design guide which is really just my friend Nadia.
Irene Bremes
What does that mean?
Jeff Hiller
She's just my friend. I don't know, she read a book or something.
Rachel Dratch
Yeah.
Jeff Hiller
Anyway, it's like this. It's kind of like astrology where it's like your personality type and it's like a way to live your life or whatever is by finding out your type and then following the rules for your type.
Rachel Dratch
Oh yeah. Wait, is this the enneagram? Is it another word for the enneagram?
Jeff Hiller
It has like enneagram stuff in it as well as. Because you find out your type by your birth time, it has like something about the I Ching in it. I don't exactly know what that is, but anyway, so I'm really into that because it said I should wait for the invitation instead of trying to make things happen. And I had been trying to make things happen for so long. And then I waited for the invitation and I got somebody somewhere.
Rachel Dratch
Wow, I like that.
Jeff Hiller
But also, like, the Facebook group about human design, I had to get out of it. Cause it was like, all these people saying really wild things about, like, you know, aliens and Hitler and.
Rachel Dratch
Yeah, well, they're both very in right now.
Irene Bremes
Yes, yes, they really are. In case you haven't noticed.
Rachel Dratch
So corrupt. Aliens and Hitler, they're in the zeitgeist.
Jeff Hiller
They've got their finger on the pulse. It's not their fault.
Rachel Dratch
God, give me strength.
Give us both strength.
I've never heard of human design. Is it a book? Is it, like, where does one take the deep dive that we're all gonna take?
Jeff Hiller
It's a woman named Jenna Zoe. Human Design with Jenna Zoe.
Rachel Dratch
Jenna Zoey.
Jeff Hiller
And she has an app, but there's also, like, you can just go to humandesign.com and figure out your chart if you know your birth. But you have to know your birth time.
Irene Bremes
I've done your chart, haven't I? Yeah, you can do that online. I've done that. But the human design takes it a step further. It sounds like.
Rachel Dratch
So wait, so what else did you learn about yourself?
Jeff Hiller
Oh, I learned that my type is not supposed to work for more than four hours in a day.
Rachel Dratch
Wasn't that convenient? Sorry, it's just my type. I'm gonna. I'm gonna stop now.
Jeff Hiller
And I do. I just fall over. But also, I learned that what was the thing that, like, really made me feel like it was really impressive and powerful. It was like, if. If I wanna manifest something, I need to do it really specifically, so I need to be like. Like, if I want to have, like, a really beautiful trip, then I wanna, like. I want to say, like. And I want a hotel room that has a window overlooking water. You know, like that sort of thing. Like, I'm supposed to really manifest it. I guess. A trip you have more control over than.
Rachel Dratch
Right.
Jeff Hiller
You don't really need to manifest that. You could just request a room with water.
Rachel Dratch
No, but I could see trying to manifest a trip. Yeah. Okay, now, is there a name of, like, your type? Are they numbers? Are they, like, the falcon? The vulture.
Jeff Hiller
Cardinal. That's better.
Rachel Dratch
Actually, the parrot. I don't know why I'm picking words.
Jeff Hiller
Ra Uruhu is the one who came up with it. But his real name was, like, Alan or something, but he changed it to a Rah.
Rachel Dratch
It's always Alan changing to Ra Uhuru.
Jeff Hiller
He should have said eagles, but it's like there are people who Are manifesters, people who are generators, people who are reflectors. And then I have a name. My type is projector, which feels, it has a little. The projector sounds a little like, you know, because it sounds like what's, you know, like the people who are projectors, like who are projecting onto other people.
Rachel Dratch
It sounds like a bad psychiatric. Yeah, exactly.
Jeff Hiller
It's not that. No.
Rachel Dratch
I guess. Well, now I want to. Now we should take this test and
see what we are.
Irene.
Irene Bremes
Yeah, I would love to.
Rachel Dratch
Yeah. This is interesting, listeners. I know you're on the edge of your seats to hear what types Irene and I are. Yeah, don't worry, we're going to do some, some serious research and get back to you.
Jeff Hiller
Well, the, the most rare type is the reflector.
Irene Bremes
Ooh.
Rachel Dratch
And what does the reflector do?
Jeff Hiller
So for them, that's my dad as a reflector, I found out, which I thought was so interesting. But they basically like, I know Sandra Bullock is one.
Irene Bremes
They always have that one celebrity. Exactly, exactly.
Jeff Hiller
To be clear, I do not know Sandy Bullock.
Rachel Dratch
But.
Irene Bremes
But you just called her Stephen Sandy. Exactly.
Jeff Hiller
I guess I kind of know her because I know she's a reflect. They have to. They reflect back the world. So if you don't like a reflector, it probably means you don't like yourself because they're really like reflecting back you to them to you or whatever. And for a projector, we are leaders. Like Barack Obama is a projector, whereas George W. Bush was a manifestor. But a manifestor can basically be like, I want this to happen and then that will happen. Whereas a projector has to wait for an invitation and they are often very. I have to make a decision by talking it through. And I don't even need to listen to anybody coming back. I just need to speak it out loud or something like that.
Rachel Dratch
Maybe I'm a projector. I need to do that.
Irene Bremes
Yeah, you do, actually.
Rachel Dratch
I really do. I get paralyzed by decisions.
Jeff Hiller
I do too.

Do you want to guess his sign? I know your sign.
Irene Bremes
Oh yeah. Oh you do? We usually do this later, but so out going. Sweetie, you're delightful.
Rachel Dratch
I mean.
Irene Bremes
Okay, let me guess.
Rachel Dratch
Okay, I think you're going to get it.
Irene Bremes
Okay, you think I'm going to get it?
Rachel Dratch
I'm thinking about this one.
Irene Bremes
I hope I get it. I hate not getting it.
Rachel Dratch
What you just said. You just said you're outgoing and delightful.
Irene Bremes
You're outgoing and delightful. So I'm going to have to go with.
Rachel Dratch
Come on.
Irene Bremes
Can I have three?
Rachel Dratch
Three? I want you to get this one on the first try.
Irene Bremes
Okay. I think you can do it. Rachel makes. She's putting the pressure on.
Rachel Dratch
You can do it. I feel good about this one.
Irene Bremes
Okay, you do feel good about this. You're outgoing and delightful. I'm going to go with Leo. Fuck me.
Rachel Dratch
Damn it.
Fuck me.
God damn it. God damn it. I failed. What I said. I've never heard you say Leo. They're not even delightful. They're not even delightful. They're outgoing. They're outgoing and delightful.
Irene Bremes
Oh my gosh, you're right.
Rachel Dratch
It's like I heard you say this before.
Irene Bremes
You're outgoing into like Libra.
Rachel Dratch
Oh God. God dammit. Okay. Oh.
Irene Bremes
Okay. I got It. I do get. I'm gonna. Please, Rachel. I can save myself. I know I can.
Rachel Dratch
Sweetie.
Irene Bremes
You're undoubtedly. You are a Sagittarius.
Rachel Dratch
Yes. Oh. Oh, shit. I should have led with that.
Irene Bremes
I'm never gonna forgive myself for this one.
Rachel Dratch
I've heard you say many times, Sagittarius are outgoing. And by the way, Irene is a Sagittarius. Cut that other part off. No, we're gonna go with honesty.
But Irene is a Sagittarius.
Irene Bremes
I am a goddamn Sagittarius.
Rachel Dratch
She's outgoing and delightful.
Jeff Hiller
Wait, is your birthday coming up really quickly? When is your birthday?
Irene Bremes
December 13th. Me and Swifty. Sweetie, I'm a tay tay girl.
Rachel Dratch
When's yours, Jeff? I forget.
Jeff Hiller
December 7th. Pearl Harbor Day. Do you remember when. Do you remember when our friend Lucas in the play asked you, oh, God,
Rachel Dratch
my Debbie Connor, if you had any.
Jeff Hiller
If you had any family left in Europe?
Rachel Dratch
And you said, okay, this is so funny. Okay, there was a guy. There was a guy. This has nothing to do with. Woo woo. But we're just gonna share this. There was a guy on a plane named Lucas. I didn't know him very well. One night we were in la, we gathered, and we were just making conversation. I fucking Debbie Downer'd the whole night. So Lucas said, we were talking about, like, ancestry and stuff. And Lucas says. And I said, oh, well, I'm from. I don't know if I had said the area yet. I think I did. I'm from Eastern Europe. Everyone's from Eastern Europe. And he goes, oh, do you have any relatives there? And I was like. I didn't know what to say. There was like two roads diverge at this conversation. And I was like, well, they probably all.
Jeff Hiller
Here's what I said.
Rachel Dratch
Here's what I said. They probably all perished. I wasn't trying to be funny, but I was also trying to be real.
Jeff Hiller
Words of all the words to choose parish.
Rachel Dratch
It's like, I didn't want to say killed, so I chose a more light heart. Like parish could be. Like. It almost sounds like garnish. It's like, would you care for some parish on the side? So it sounds more like a. A sweet word. And so I said, they all perished. And then the conversation drove to a screeching halt. I'm like, I didn't know. I didn't know Lucas enough to like. To be like, yeah, it was just kind of like, well, I guess that's the last time I'll ever hang out with that guy. And it was. Anyway, that's A good memory. Speaking of Hitler. Okay. Anyway, getting back on track here.
Jeff Hiller
But you know what? I am a Sagittarius. And also my rising sign is Sagittarius.
Irene Bremes
Well, that's not surprising at all, Rachel. You're right. I don't know what I was thinking with Leo.
Rachel Dratch
I was trying to give you the Spidey. I was trying to ESP you.
Irene Bremes
Right. It's not you, sweetie. To me, I'm closed off.
Rachel Dratch
You say outgoing for sag, and you say bright and bright and happy and happy and optimistic.
Irene Bremes
And that's so you.
Jeff Hiller
I am pretty optimistic.
Rachel Dratch
Sweetie.
Irene Bremes
Sweetie. I'm so mad about that.
Rachel Dratch
My parents are sag.
Jeff Hiller
Oh, really?
Rachel Dratch
I'm used to Sagittarius energy. Guys, we love.
Irene Bremes
We love the Pisces.
Rachel Dratch
Okay.
Irene Bremes
So sorry about that.
Jeff Hiller
My sister's a Pisces.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, really? All right.
Jeff Hiller
No, my mom was a pisces.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, right.
Jeff Hiller
February 2nd.
Rachel Dratch
Okay. My sister's March 5th. That's Aquarius.
Jeff Hiller
Oh, my sister's March 5th.
Rachel Dratch
Okay. Your sister's a Pisces. Yeah, my sister's a Pisces.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah.
Rachel Dratch
I love it that you brought up the parish story. So funny.
Jeff Hiller
I love also hearing you say, like, I wanted to choose a lighter words, so I went with Parrish.
Rachel Dratch
Yes.
Irene Bremes
Parrish is so comforting.
Rachel Dratch
Anyway, keep it light and light. Please welcome to the stage Parrish.
Irene Bremes
Parrish.
Jeff Hiller
That's a good drag name.
Rachel Dratch
It is.
We can all agree that housing is expensive, right? It's our biggest expense of the month. Whether it's rent or mortgage, it doesn't matter which one you're paying. It stings every month, but BILT can make it feel a little better. Let me explain. BILT started out rewarding members on their rent. Now, as of 2026, BILT members can also earn points on mortgage payments wherever they live. Every housing payment earns you points you can use toward flights with top travel partners like United, Hyatt Hotels, Lyft Rides, Amazon.com purchases, and so much more. Personally, well, I'd use my points toward travel.
Oh, and I noticed one of my
favorite restaurants in my neighborhood is a BILT merchant partner. So I'm going to use my BILT points toward that. But here's what I think is the most underrated part. BILT members also get access to a neighborhood concierge. It can make restaurant reservations, book fitness classes and find new local spots, all while being rewarded at more than 45,000 merchant partners. It's like having a personal assistant baked into where you live. It's simple. Being a renter and now owning a home is better with bilt. Join the membership where you live@joinbilt.com Woo. That's J O I N B I L T.com Woo. Make sure you use our URL so they know we sent you.
Jeff Hiller
Where is Daredelphil? I'm right here. Don't miss the return of Marvel Television's Daredevil Devil Born Again.
Rachel Dratch
So what's next?
Jeff Hiller
I feel liberated. We're gonna take this city back over medicated in an all new season now streaming only on Disney plus.
Rachel Dratch
They're hunting us. It's time we started hunting them.
Jeff Hiller
I can work with them.
Rachel Dratch
This should be tons of fun.
Jeff Hiller
Marvel Television's Daredevil Born Again now streaming only on Disney.
Rachel Dratch
Okay, so Jeff, I think you said that you had had some sort of astral projection story.
Jeff Hiller
Oh, well, I've never astral projected, but one time I was on a plane with this woman and she, you know how like when you're on a plane and you and people want to talk to you and normally I don't like to talk on a plane. Are you into people talking to you?
Rachel Dratch
Not, not generally on a plane.
Jeff Hiller
Me neither. I don't like it at all. And she just wouldn't let me. Not engaged. And I'm polite too. I don't like to have a lot of conflict. But we were flying home to San Antonio. That's where I grew up. And that's where I guess she grew up too. And. But she lived in New York now. And then I said, oh, when's the last time you've been home? So I guess, I mean, I asked her questions. So I guess this is on me too, that she talked to me. But she said I haven't been physically home in over a year, but I astral project there all the time. And I was like, okay, what is that? And then she told me that she's a really good dreamer and she's able to astral project in her dreams to go visit her family because it's just like a nice way to, I don't know, visit home for cheap. Is this an economic thing? I don't know. But then she was like, and I work for someone famous. And I was like, oh, okay, Sandra Bullock. And she was like, I can't tell you who it is. And I was like, okay. And then she goes, it's Suzanne Vega. And I was like, oh. And she said sometimes Suzanne and I astral project as well.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, oh, I wish. I used to love Suzanne Vega. I mean her, her era, like is Right when I was in college, when she hit it big. So, like, ooh, maybe I'll try to
track her down on the astral plane.
On the astral plane. Wow. Literally. So, wait, did she tell you? Cause we did have one guest. I don't know if you heard our Craig Chester episode.
Jeff Hiller
Oh, I know who Craig Chester is, but I didn't hear that episode.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, my God. It's about astral projection, and he didn't do it, but this guy that he knew did. And it's an amazing story, so I'm fascinated. That's the only story we've had on here about it. I'm fascinated by it. But did she tell you anything?
More like, did she go to other places?
Jeff Hiller
Yes. She says she goes everywhere, but that's, like, how she travels. And she said that this is, like, a long time ago. This is, like, before we even did love. Isabel's loss. It was, like, maybe even 20 years ago. Okay, but she. She said that. Let's just say I was flying coach. Okay? But she said that you have to. You can teach yourself to do it. She said if you ever have a lucid dream or whatever, you just have to say, I'm on the astral plane and I can travel anywhere I want. You just have to consciously say it.
Irene Bremes
Really?
Jeff Hiller
That's what she told me.
Irene Bremes
I'm gonna try that. Cause I. Lucid dream.
Rachel Dratch
Do you?
Irene Bremes
Yes.
Jeff Hiller
How do you know if it's lucid?
Rachel Dratch
Because you're aware you're dreaming.
Irene Bremes
Like, you're half awake and half asleep.
Jeff Hiller
Oh, you're aware you're dreaming?
Rachel Dratch
Yes.
I've only had that happen, like, once or twice, but never enough to be able to. Like, it was before I was into all this stuff, so I've never thought, like, of trying that. Me neither. I don't know if I would have the capabilities, but I don't think I
Jeff Hiller
have it in me either. But I would love to.
Rachel Dratch
So when Craig and I. Craig told me this story a long, long time ago. And then he actually got me this book called Mastering the Art of Astral Projection. And so I looked in it, and I.
Jeff Hiller
Have you mastered it?
Rachel Dratch
No, I have not. As a matter of fact, I gave up because I was telling on this episode that the very first chapter is about breathing exercises. And then I was like, that's boring. So then I was like, you think breathing's gonna get me to Mars? You know? No. So I. I love that the one
Jeff Hiller
thing that you're like, oh, I can't do. That is literally the thing that Your body just does on its own, but
Rachel Dratch
it's too boring for me. And then I also.
Jeff Hiller
Listen, I get it. I can only work four hours a day.
Rachel Dratch
Yeah. Callback. Callback.
Irene Bremes
That's a callback, people.
Rachel Dratch
No, but I was sort of like,
I was also, I gotta say, a cynic. That breathing could lead to astral projection. So maybe that's on me like you said, but. Oh, this is kind of a funny side story though. The first time John came over here, the book was on the bookshelf and it's like, it's like you might as well have a sign that say I'm crazy. Cause like that is a book to hide when a new potential lover is coming over. You don't want. Mastering the Art of Astral projection prominently featured.
Jeff Hiller
Makes me feel like a red flag for it to be right by the bed.
Rachel Dratch
I had to get rid of it immediately. But so anyway, I never did master the art. But where, where were we in this? Hold on.
Irene Bremes
Sorry.
Jeff Hiller
That wasn't a very good story. A third hand story about Suzanne Vega's personal assistant.
Rachel Dratch
No. Are you kidding me?
Irene Bremes
Are you kidding me? Did she have a conversation? It opened up.
Rachel Dratch
Did she have any other stories about like where she went? Like, would she go to like, I'm going to go to France today or whatever?
Jeff Hiller
I don't remember France. I think she was.
Irene Bremes
She.
Jeff Hiller
It was more like she could meet spirits and stuff, like ancestors, but not ones that she knew, but ones that were just, I don't know.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, like spirit masters kind of thing.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah, kind of like I'm totally putting
Rachel Dratch
words in your mouth.
Jeff Hiller
I don't know exactly. Because like I say, I was trying to not talk that much.
Rachel Dratch
Oh my gosh.
Jeff Hiller
Now I feel like I've really identified her in a way that anybody. I know who she was, but I got the vibe that she was able to talk to like teachers.
Rachel Dratch
Yes.
Jeff Hiller
And they could help her with her life.
Rachel Dratch
Yes, that's right. Yes, Grasshopper.
Jeff Hiller
I think that's what's great about Woo Woo is you can kind of make it work for you, you know?
Rachel Dratch
Exactly. And at this point, you know, I started off saying I don't believe, and now at this point I'm like, I believe it all. Human design. Sure. Talking to spirit masters in the sky while you're.
Jeff Hiller
What the hell?
Rachel Dratch
In your dream stories, we're. Why not third hand?
Irene Bremes
Third. We'll take fifth hand.
Rachel Dratch
What if it's on the bottom? Let's just make it up as we go. Oh my gosh.
Jeff Hiller
Oh, also I said, oh yeah, my Name is Luca. Right? And she was like, suzanne is so much more than that song.
Rachel Dratch
Well, you picked the hit. You picked the. You did pick the hit. I would have gone with a deep cut, like cracking Suzanne, if you're listening. I used to listen to Cracking on repeat on cassette tape 10,000 times when I was around 20 years old.
Jeff Hiller
She's also. I'm sitting at the.
Rachel Dratch
Just.
Jeff Hiller
I'm sitting on the.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, yeah, Tom Steiner.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah, Tom Steiner.
Rachel Dratch
That's the mega hit.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rachel Dratch
All right, well, maybe now that I've plugged Suzanne Vega's work, she'll. Come on. Tell me about her direction with astral projection.
Irene Bremes
Yes.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, my God. Okay. Is there anything else you remember about the convo? Wait, I just thought of an interesting question as I just asked you one. She said she went home to visit San Antonio a lot. This is interesting. So you're home, but I guess you're watching people sleep. You don't get to sit down and have a meal with someone.
Jeff Hiller
But she said you just unlocked. You unlocked a memory. Because I said that too. I was like, so aren't they just sleeping if you're also sleeping? And she said, no, they project too. And so they meet on, like, I guess you can't sleep.
Rachel Dratch
She got the family pack.
Irene Bremes
The family that projects together stays together.
Rachel Dratch
She got the family pack, and they all meet on the astral plane.
Jeff Hiller
They have t mobile astral projection circles. Yeah. Cause I think both people have to be projecting in order to meet on the plane.
Rachel Dratch
Wow.
Jeff Hiller
I could be wrong about that. But I kind of get the feeling, you know what?
Rachel Dratch
No one's gonna fact check you on here. Whatever you say is true here. It's a safe space. We're holding space for astral projecting.
Jeff Hiller
Okay, good. I don't want legal to come after me.
Rachel Dratch
You know what I wonder, though? I wonder, like, is her family aware that they also astral project, or is it just like this? Like, are they conscious that they're astro projecting? Yeah. Are they rising up? Cause, like, she has. I don't know.
Jeff Hiller
And then I kept asking her questions about this, kind of like you're asking me. And she was really impatient with my questions at that point.
Rachel Dratch
She's like, I don't like talking to people on planes. Yeah. The tables turned. No, wait.
Jeff Hiller
I'm gonna teach you a lesson, and I'm gonna ask you some serious questions right now.
Rachel Dratch
Wait, she was getting impatient? Cause it was like, oh, ye mortal. Was it like, don't you know? Or was it like, okay, I remember
Jeff Hiller
being like, no, I Believe you? I'm just curious, but I got the vibe that she thought I didn't believe her.
Rachel Dratch
Okay, okay, maybe. Interesting.
Irene Bremes
Wow. She just wanted you to buy into that story, huh?
Rachel Dratch
I love the story though.
Irene Bremes
I do love the story even though it can't be corroborated at all.
Rachel Dratch
But I love chance encounter on a plane leads to lesson and astral projecting.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah.
Rachel Dratch
Story at 11.
Jeff Hiller
Suzanne Vega Appreciation Susan Vega Appreciation Club.
Rachel Dratch
It's a one time thing.
Jeff Hiller
I'm gonna go listen to Cracker Cracking.
Irene Bremes
Oh, you're cracker, sweetie.
Rachel Dratch
Cracking is a deep cut acoustic.
Jeff Hiller
I gotta say, like I did get a Suzanne Vega CD right after that, so. God, it must have been a really
Rachel Dratch
long time ago because it was a cd, right? Right. At least you know, CD I had a cassette tape, so that was even longer ago.
Well, we're talking a lot about astral projection on this episode. And how are you going to astral project if you can't fall asleep? I mean, it's really one of my top reasons why I want to get a good night's sleep so that I can visit family in other states.

Because I love that story.
Irene Bremes
I want it to be true.
Rachel Dratch
Like, we haven't had much astro projection on here, so.
Jeff Hiller
Oh, yeah. Well, the two power gays brought it to you.
Irene Bremes
Oh, Rochester brought it, sweetie.
Jeff Hiller
Right?
Rachel Dratch
Two power gays brought us astral projection. And den. Did you. Not that you need to, because we have plenty, but did you have. Do you have some other story that you mentioned or.
Jeff Hiller
No, I just recently did a. What do you call it? Tarot reading.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, okay. I've had mixed results with that, with
Jeff Hiller
this woman who is really. I love her voice. She has a podcast. Her name is Rebecca Allman, and she calls it tarot.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, okay.
Irene Bremes
The real deal.
Jeff Hiller
I've heard some say tarot, but she said, I believe. Other people say tarot. I say tarot. And she's just this really cool woman from North Carolina, and she read my chart because I heard her on a podcast. And then I started listening to her podcast, which is, like. It's called, like, dawn by the river with Rebecca Allman. And it's really great. And so we just did a zoom reading, and she picked this card that was, like, meant to, like. It was just a card that was, like, meant to say what the session would be all about or whatever the general vibe of the session. And she picked it, and it had an animal on it, and the animal was a giraffe. And my mom's favorite animal was a giraffe. And she painted a giraffe on my nursery. And then I always wear giraffes as, like, homage to my mom. And then the card she picked was a giraffe, and it felt very, I don't know. Perfect. Yeah.
Rachel Dratch
Meaningful. Meaningful.
Jeff Hiller
And then the. She sent me the card and it was all about, like, basically loving yourself and stop being mean to yourself and to love yourself, which was, like, something that my mom said all the time. I guess that's pretty generic. I guess a lot of moms say that, but that was the other big.
Rachel Dratch
Well, most moms do.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah.
Irene Bremes
No, not all the mothers.
Rachel Dratch
It's true.
Jeff Hiller
That's true. That's true. She didn't know if I had a nice mom. She didn't even know if I had a mom. I mean, I guess everybody has a mom.
Rachel Dratch
I think that's pretty amazing. I've seen you with the giraffes on your clothes and stuff like that. Are you wearing geranimals? Jeff is always seen and matching giraffe. No, I've seen you, like, I think you were on a talk show and you had a giraffe.
Jeff Hiller
I did, yeah.
Rachel Dratch
But that's really kind of amazing.
Jeff Hiller
I know.
Irene Bremes
That's specific.
Rachel Dratch
I love that.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah, I thought that was really nice. And then the whole reading was like. Like, your shoulders are too high. Breathe more. Because I was breathing. Yeah, Bre, we can all use that breathing again.
Rachel Dratch
Working breathing.
Jeff Hiller
We get it.
Rachel Dratch
Listen, the breathing oxygen is important. We get it. We know. Oh, my God, I love it. Was there anything else to that?
Irene Bremes
Not that.
Rachel Dratch
That was. That was surely enough of a big moment. But were there any, like. Did she do. Does she do, like, predictions, or is it more like telling you where you're at at the time?
Jeff Hiller
Well, the prediction. It's more like something good will happen kind of a thing than like, you're gonna. On the 25th, you're gonna get whatever.
Rachel Dratch
Right.
Did she predict your show or. This was after the show.
Jeff Hiller
This is after the show.
Rachel Dratch
Okay. Okay.
Jeff Hiller
But I just read a book.
Rachel Dratch
Ooh, we're here to plug, baby, plug away, sweetie. What is your book and when does it come out?
Jeff Hiller
It comes out June. June 10, 2025.
Rachel Dratch
Oh, my gosh. Congratulations.
Jeff Hiller
Thank you. It's called Actress of a Certain Age.
Rachel Dratch
I love the title.
Jeff Hiller
My. That has a subtitle. It's like my 20 year journey to overnight success or something like that.
Rachel Dratch
I love it.
Irene Bremes
Oh, I love that.
Jeff Hiller
But I read my journals, my old journals, to help me remember what was happening in my life and stuff, because I was. I wrote like, different essays about different times in my life. And I did find a journal where I said if I could manifest anything, it would be a prestige drama comedy on hbo.
Irene Bremes
Whoa.
Jeff Hiller
That's kind of impressive, right?
Rachel Dratch
I'm frozen in case. Because I'm not speaking right now. My jaw is a gape, and I'm frozen. I literally froze with a hand in mid gesture.
Jeff Hiller
And I think that was in 2016 or 17. And then we booked the pilot. I booked the pilot in 2019, so it took a minute.
Irene Bremes
Oh, wow. That is manifesting.
Rachel Dratch
Let's just say this again. You wrote you wanted, like, a dramedy. What did you.
Jeff Hiller
Drama. Yeah, dramedy. I said a prestige dramedy. Prestige dramedy on hbo. But I specifically said hbo. Wow.
Irene Bremes
Okay. That's magic.
Rachel Dratch
I'm letting that land. I'm letting that land. Listeners, pull your cars over. Put it in park. Let it land. Take some breaths. Yes, I said it. Do some breathing. Take this in. This is what can happen to you, listeners. Write it down. Be specifically. You'll all be on a prestige dramedy on hbo. It's gonna happen for all of you. Everyone listening gets a dramedy on hbo.
Jeff Hiller
But I have to also warn you that there were other things that I also wanted that didn't come true.
Irene Bremes
We don't mention those.
Rachel Dratch
We don't need to hear about those.
Jeff Hiller
We don't talk about that.
Rachel Dratch
We talk about the ones that come true, Drew.
Jeff Hiller
Okay, that one did.
Rachel Dratch
I think that's amazing.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah, that one did.
Rachel Dratch
Very uplifting and affirming.
Irene Bremes
It is.
Rachel Dratch
And we.
Irene Bremes
We might have just not even talked about this had you not brought up your book, Jeff.
Jeff Hiller
Oh, yeah, my book is very important.
Rachel Dratch
Yeah, so your book. So everybody get Jeff's book. Are you going to read the audio version? I'm sure.
Jeff Hiller
Yes, I am.
Rachel Dratch
Fun. Okay, so in June, and then somebody somewhere. Where are we in that? Like that? That's out now. In the Is.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah, that's out now.
Rachel Dratch
But, you know, filming.
Jeff Hiller
It's. Yeah, we're done filming, and it's done. This is the last season. I know it's a bummer, but what are you going to do?
Rachel Dratch
Well, but you hit hard and you're.
Jeff Hiller
I'm going to go in. I'm going to go write in my journal right now.
Rachel Dratch
Put it in your next order. And now you are on the Mount Rushmore of Power Gaze. You're the fourth Mount Rushmore head on the Power Gaze. Yes, I've been.
Jeff Hiller
Zach Quinto might be more of a power gay than me. What about Neil Patrick Harris? Oh, I'm way not even in the top four.
Rachel Dratch
Well, in my Mount Rushmore, you're in the top four, honey. Okay, I'll take it. Well, Jeff, we do this pendulum reading, so think of a question. Yes or no?
Jeff Hiller
Is it okay if it's a little basic?
Rachel Dratch
Oh, yes, it's okay, because we don't want people to get sad.
Jeff Hiller
I get good.
Irene Bremes
Well, let me see something. I have.
Rachel Dratch
This is weird, but I have to tell you something weird, but the. The circles for Irene have changed directions. It was that a yes was clockwise and a no was counter. But we're testing. We're testing the waters.
Irene Bremes
What's a no? It's official.
Rachel Dratch
It's so weird.
Irene Bremes
I Don't know if counterclockwise is yes.
Rachel Dratch
This is so weird, but everything changed.
Jeff Hiller
Okay, what do you think that is?
Rachel Dratch
We don't know.
Jeff Hiller
Is it about the election?
Irene Bremes
Oh, how did you know? My Crystal's losing her fucking mind.
Rachel Dratch
Okay, no, we don't know. We don't know what happened.
Jeff Hiller
The world turned upside down.
Rachel Dratch
We're in Australia. That was a horrible accident.
Jeff Hiller
That's true. In the southern hemisphere, the. The toilets flush the other way too.
Rachel Dratch
I know. I don't know what it is, but it somehow it changed direction. Okay, so what's your question? Think on your question. Okay, let me know when you're ready to up.
Jeff Hiller
Okay, I'm ready.
Irene Bremes
Okay, here we go, Jeff. That's a yes.
Rachel Dratch
What did you ask?
Irene Bremes
Let's do a safety. Sorry? Rachel wants to abolish the safety, but I say the safety is a must. And that is a resounding yes, sweet boy. What is it?
Rachel Dratch
What was it? Will you astral project tonight?
Jeff Hiller
It's will I get health insurance next year?
Rachel Dratch
Okay, valid. There you go. Valid question. Valid question. Well, the answer is yes. Okay, good. Because in acting world, you have to have a certain. Is that why you're asking or just general. General government.
Jeff Hiller
Yeah, like SAG insurance is what I meant.
Rachel Dratch
Okay, Right. Okay. All right, well, that's good. Good news is Jeff has insurance for this.
Jeff Hiller
Because if I get a sinus infection,
Rachel Dratch
I know we need. But we need help.
Irene Bremes
It'll really fuck up your breathing, won't it, sweetie? And you need those exercises.
Jeff Hiller
I need to breathe. That's every. I mean, I hate it, but I do it.
Rachel Dratch
You do it. Well, Jeff, what about. And then what are your. What are your socials? Ew, no. No. What's your Instagram? You're not on TikTok, are you?
Jeff Hiller
My Instagram is Boom Boomhiller.
Rachel Dratch
All right, so Boom Boomhiller on Instagram. And there we have it.
Jeff Hiller
I think that's it.
Rachel Dratch
All right. Thank you so much. This was so fun.
Irene Bremes
Thank you so much.

The group manages to balance skepticism, wonder, and laughter—making the "woo woo" less about hard belief and more about community, openness, and finding signs wherever they may appear.
This fun, meandering conversation spotlights how beliefs in signs, manifestation, and the unexplained often intersect with real emotional needs and creative lives. Whether or not you believe, the stories—about longing for connection, honoring loved ones, and saying yes to possibility—make “Woo Woo” both hilarious and unexpectedly poignant.
