Hey, Wowzer fams. Mindy here. And before we start the show, guess what? You can join me every Friday for two what's in a People who Wow Edition. In this Getting to Know youw game show, I'll be visited by some of the world's most fascinating people to get the wows and the what's of their lives. From cartoonist and graphic novelist Raina Telgemeier of the Smile series, to everyday extraordinary kids just like you. And that's not all. With this new season of two what's in a wow? There are now two ways to wow. What am I talking about? Well, first, you can listen to episodes right here in our wow. In the World podcast feed. Or, and this is a big oar. Yeah, you're right, Reg. That doesn't have the same ring to it. Okay, now where was I?
Lucy
Oh, yeah.
Mindy Thomas
As always, you can listen to new episodes in your favorite podcast player, or you can watch these episodes with your eyeballs on YouTube. I know. I should comb my hair or something. We are so excited for you to listen and watch our new season of two what's in a People who Wow Edition starting this Friday. So make sure you're subscribed to our podcast feed and our WowTube channel on YouTube so you don't miss out. That's two what's in a People who Wow Edition coming this Friday. And now a quick ad break and then we'll get on with the show. Hey, Grown ups. Mindy here. And do I have a wow for you. What if I told you that the best kids math program is actually inspired by comic books and it's about monsters? It's called Beast Academy. And the little monsters, like Grog, do the kind of math that gets kids curious enough to stop and think and figure things out for themselves. For example, Krog asked his Beast Academy math club, if our school has more than 366 kids in it, is it guaranteed that two of them will have exactly the same birthday? He proved that the answer is yes through problem solving. Wow, that's Beast Academy. Where kids build problem solving skills through interesting problems and puzzles. It's from the folks at Art of Problem Solving, the same people who train math champions, grown ups. Head to beastacademy.com and use code BEASTWOW for 10% off the online program. Oh, and tell Grog Mindy says hi.

Host Introduction Voice
Welcome to two what's and a wow People who wow Edition with your host, Mindy. And featuring today's special guest, Lucy.
Mindy Thomas
Two wows and a W. Hello and welcome to two what's in a wow? People who wow Edition, the getting to know you game show where we separate the wows from the whats of some of the world's most interesting people. And we just so happen to have one of them here today. Please welcome our guest joining us. She is a lacrosse loving slime expert tap dancing her way across Virginia. Please welcome the one and only Lucy.
Lucy
Lucy. Hello, Lucy.
Mindy Thomas
Welcome to two what's in a wow.
Lucy
Thank you.
Mindy Thomas
It is so great to have you here. I hear you are a slime expert, also lacrosse player. And then let me just check my notes here. Something in here about getting lost at Disney World.
Lucy
Yeah, I think all of those kind of describe my life.
Mindy Thomas
All right, Lucy.
Lucy
Mm.
Mindy Thomas
Before we get started, I wanted to do a little warm up with you.
Lucy
Okay.
Mindy Thomas
So in this game, two what's in a while, we are having you make up wrong answers so that you can try to fool me from guessing the right one. So I thought we would play a little round of a game that I like to call wrong answers only. And the way this works is very simple. This is a quick warmup. I'm just going to ask you a series of questions and all you have to do is is answer them incorrectly.
Lucy
I can do that.
Mindy Thomas
All right, here we go. Number one. Where do fish live?
Lucy
The toilet.
Mindy Thomas
What body part do you eat? With?
Lucy
My foot.
Mindy Thomas
What should you do if you're chased by a bear?
Lucy
Hug it.
Mindy Thomas
Where is the moon located?
Lucy
Florida.
Mindy Thomas
What? What's in my pocket?
Lucy
Chainsaw.
Mindy Thomas
What do you call your grandma?
Lucy
Grandpa.
Mindy Thomas
What do you write your homework on?
Lucy
My face.
Mindy Thomas
What do you put in an ice cream cone?
Lucy
I don't know if I should say this one. Poo.
Mindy Thomas
Oh, Lucy, what color is the sky?
Lucy
Pink.
Mindy Thomas
And what can you always find at the beach A fort. There we go. All right, Lucy, Amazing. Do you feel warmed up?
Lucy
I do.
Mindy Thomas
Oh, boy. Well, this is gonna be fun. So today we are going to get to know you a little bit better through three rounds of two. What's and a wow. Now, for people who don't know, here's how the game works. So we're going to have three rounds today where you're going to give us in each round three weird, interesting, unusual, and maybe wow facts about yourself. It's up to me to guess who, which one is the one. True wow. If I guess correctly, I get a point. If I guess incorrectly, I must do a ridonkulous challenge. Okay, let's get started with our three rounds of two. What's in a wow? Today we are about to get to know you a whole lot better. So round one is all about jobs. You're 11 years old. Have you ever had a job? What was Tell me something that you've been paid to do.
Lucy
Ooh, I've probably mainly been paid to do chores.
Mindy Thomas
What's your least favorite chore?
Lucy
Walking the dogs.
Mindy Thomas
Walking the dogs. All right, well, Lucy, there will be no dog walking here today. All we're going to do is do a little round about jobs because I know that walking dogs and doing chores has not been the only job you've held in your young life. And we're about to find out what another one once was. All right, now remember, if you're playing along, only one of these statements is a true wow. The other two are just a couple of made up. What? All right, Lucy, you ready to get started? Oh, yeah, take it away. Round one.
Lucy
Round one. Which of the following jobs is my true wow? Is it A, Junior Lifeguard, B, YouTube influencer, or C, cat search and rescue team?
Mindy Thomas
Okay, so A is junior lifeguard. I can't really ask follow up questions. I'm just looking at you, trying to tell if it's possible you know how to swim. If I could trust you in the water. If you have fins, maybe you're part mermaid, maybe you're all mermaid.
Lucy
Who knows?
Mindy Thomas
A reverse mermaid.
Lucy
No.
Mindy Thomas
Okay. Or a YouTube influencer. I gotta say, you seem very comfortable in front of a camera. And number three, cat search and rescue team. Well, someone who doesn't really enjoy walking dogs. I don't know if I would put you in the search and rescue team for my cat. Or maybe you like cats, you'd rather walk them than dogs. Or you know what? I'm gonna go with B. I think B YouTube influencer is your other Job. Am I correct?
Lucy
Wrong. Oh, man. That's just a.
Mindy Thomas
What? That's just a what? You're not a YouTube influencer?
Lucy
No.
Mindy Thomas
Which one is the one true? Wow. If it's not B, is it A?
Lucy
No, no.
Mindy Thomas
A's a what? You're not a junior lifeguard.
Lucy
I'm not a junior lifeguard.
Mindy Thomas
Well, that means that there's only one choice left. And that means that your one true. Wow. Is that your other job besides doing chores at home is c. Cat search and rescue team.
Lucy
Yes.
Mindy Thomas
Tell me more about this Lucy.
Lucy
So I was walking my dogs, like I have to do sometimes, and I see my cat walk with us, and he goes down a sewer. And so then I say, dad, I think our cat just went down a sewer. So then he has to lift up that grid thing on the sewer and lower me down into the sewer to look for him.
Mindy Thomas
Wait a minute, wait a minute. Number one, your cat walks with your dogs. When you're walking the dogs, the cat walks with you?
Lucy
Depends on the time, but yes.
Mindy Thomas
Does your cat think it's one of the dogs?
Lucy
I think so. He likes to go outside, and he can go through the dog door.
Mindy Thomas
Wow.
Lucy
Okay.
Mindy Thomas
Your cat thinks it's a dog. So your cat.
Lucy
I think my cat's part dog.
Mindy Thomas
I think so, too. But your cat's also an escapee. So your cat went down into the sewer. You saw it happen. You told your dad who was walking with you, and then your dad lowered you down into the sewer.
Lucy
He, like. He had me the whole time. He, like, took me by the shoulders and went, boop. And then took me back up.
Mindy Thomas
Wow, that is amazing. And did you find the cat?
Lucy
Yes, we found him in our neighbor's backyard.
Mindy Thomas
All right, there you go. If you ever lose your cat, you just call Lucy. Lucy will go into dark, damp places to find it. All right, Lucy, that was amazing. That was round one, and I did not get that answer correct. So I must do a ridonculous challenge. Can we get the challenge wheel up here, please? Okay, it's gonna be all right. What's it gonna be? What's it gonna be? Perform a gazoo solo? Eat an onion? Take a ride on Reggie? Repair a broken printer? What? I have to show you the last picture taken on my phone. Okay, this is kind of embarrassing. All right, well, here's a picture of me standing in front of the world's largest potato. When I went to go see the world's largest potato, it was only slightly bigger than my head. At least in this picture, it was a Big potato. It was not a baked potato. It was raw and it was not delicious.
Lucy
Did it need salt?
Mindy Thomas
It needed a lot of salt. I tried licking it and it was disgusting. I prefer my potatoes to have salted skin with a little bit of oil and maybe a surprise inside.
Lucy
Yeah.
Mindy Thomas
How do you like your potatoes, Lucy?
Lucy
I like them called twice baked potatoes. Mm.
Mindy Thomas
Twice baked.
Lucy
They're very confusing.
Mindy Thomas
They're very confusing. Why twice baked? Why not once baked?
Lucy
Because you cut the potato in half and put them in the oven for a little bit and then you take them out. Gut the potato, take the potato guts out, and then you make the potato guts taste delicious and then put the potato guts back in and then you bake it again.
Mindy Thomas
Oh, okay. Twice baked potatoes. So they're basically mashed potatoes inside of a baked potato?
Lucy
Yeah.
Mindy Thomas
All right. That's your preferred method of having potatoes? I like it. Two what's in a while. We'll be right back after this ad break.
Judd Anderson

Mindy Thomas
That's it. Now back to the show. All right, Lucy, are you ready for round two of two? What's in a Wow?
Lucy
I am.
Mindy Thomas
Okay, so for round two, we are going to talk about challenges. All right, Lucy, we would like to hear three weird, interesting, unusual statements about you. These are about challenges that you have faced in your life.
Lucy
Yep.
Mindy Thomas
Take it away, Lucy.
Lucy
Okay, round two. Which of the following statements is a true wow about a challenge in my life? Is it, A, I broke my arm while playing lacrosse? Is it B, I was born three months early, so I couldn't leave the hospital? Or is it C, I helped my mom change a busted car tire in the rain?
Mindy Thomas
Okay, number one. A, you broke your arm playing lacrosse. We did establish that you are a lacrosse player.
Lucy
I am.
Mindy Thomas
And I can only see your shoulders right now, so I don't know what's happening below them. But you don't seem to be in pain. You don't seem to be itching from a cast. You don't seem to have a broken bone there. It's possible. B, you were born three months early so you couldn't leave the hospital. Hmm. I don't know if I buy it. And C, you once helped your mom change a busted car tire in the rain. Seeing that your dad has lowered you into a storm drain to find the cat, I am going to guess that the correct answer is C, helping your mom change a tire in the rain. Am I correct?
Lucy
No. It's a what?
Mindy Thomas
It's a what?
Lucy
Really? Mm.
Mindy Thomas
Have you ever helped your mom change a busted tire on a sunny day? No. No, it's not correct at all. Okay, so then the correct answer is. I don't know. You don't seem like someone who's. I don't know. Who's gonna break your arm playing lacrosse? Do you even need arms for lacrosse? I'm gonna guess. I don't know. I think it's a. Maybe it is A that you broke your arm playing lacrosse.
Lucy
What? That's the wrong answer.
Mindy Thomas
That's a one, too. I'm really bad at this game so far. All right, Lucy, the correct answer is
Host Introduction Voice
B.
Lucy
B, I was bor early, so I couldn't leave the hospital. Whoa.
Mindy Thomas
So normally, like a baked potato, it takes a baby, what, nine months to bake?
Lucy
Yeah.
Mindy Thomas
So this means that you came out three months early. Six months.
Lucy
Yeah.
Mindy Thomas
Three months early. You were born. Tell me what you remember about that time.
Lucy
I don't remember anything except for looking at photos.
Mindy Thomas
Oh, so that's where your memories are stored in looking at photos from that time when? What have you been told about that time? What is your family's memory from that time?
Lucy
My mom said that I was born three months early and that I needed to be born, so. Because I was ready for the world. So I went, hello, world. I was, like, ready for that. And I was so early and so tiny that I was three pounds. I think that's like three pounds.
Mindy Thomas
Three pounds is like three pounds.
Lucy
I know that's tiny.
Mindy Thomas
Well, good things come in small packages.
Lucy
Yeah.
Mindy Thomas
So, Lucy, how do you think that having those challenges early, early, early on in your life, how do you think they've shaped you today? Because you had to probably fight to get out of the hospital when you were that little and that tiny of a baby, you had to still develop your body.
Lucy
Mm. That's why now I think I'm still so competitive. Oh.
Mindy Thomas
That's why now you're winning this game.
Lucy
Maybe just a little.
Mindy Thomas
Maybe just a little. All right, so I must do another ridonkulous challenge.
Lucy
Challenge.
Mindy Thomas
All right, can we get the challenge wheel up here? What's it gonna be? What's it gonna be? Repair a broken printer? Eat pocket sand? Give a firm handshake? Take a right on Reggie. Oh, come on. Really? All right, Lucy, I have to dump this confetti on my head. What I'm holding here is a bag of my own pocket confetti, and I have to throw it up in the air. You mentioned you like doing chores, right?
Lucy
No.
Mindy Thomas
Maybe you want to clean it up when this is done. Okay, Lucy, on the count of three. One, two, three. Wow. That was more fun than I thought. Should we do it one more time?
Lucy
Yeah.
Mindy Thomas
Give me countdown.
Lucy
Three, two, one.
Mindy Thomas
Wow. That was nice. Who's gonna clean up this mess? Who cares? Not me. All right, Lucy.
Lucy
Maybe Reggie.
Mindy Thomas
Maybe Reggie. All right, Lucy, are you ready for round three? The final round of this two. What's and a wow.
Lucy
I am.
Mindy Thomas
All right, the theme for this round is celebrations. So, Lucy, you're going to tell us three weird, interesting, unusual facts about your life and celebrations, and we're going to guess which one is the one. True. Wow. You ready?
Lucy
Is it a. I had a wig themed Birthday party. Or is it B, I ate 20 hot dogs. Hot dogs. At my friend's party. Or is it C, my family celebrates Halloween a week early.
Mindy Thomas
Okay. Is it A, you had a wig themed birthday party? Wigs as in, like the wigs that you wear on your head? Like. Like this kind of wig?
Lucy
Yeah, that kind of wig.
Mindy Thomas
A wig. A wig themed birthday party. Okay. Or is it B, you once ate 20 hot dogs? 2. 0. 20 hot dogs at a friend's birthday party. 2.
Lucy
0.
Mindy Thomas
Or C, your family celebrates Halloween a week early. Lucy, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that the correct answer is A, you had a wig themed birthday party. Am I correct?
Lucy
Drum roll. Yes, you are correct. Yay.
Mindy Thomas
Where's my flywheezle? Oh, I am so thrilled. I can't believe I got the answer correct. Yay. All right. Yay, Mindy. All right, so tell me more about this wig themed birthday party.
Lucy
So we got a bunch of plastic mannequin heads and we put the wigs on top, and then me and my friends could brush them and then cut their hair if we wanted. And we got a whole bunch of hair accessories that we could do to their hair. And then with the plastic mannequins, we got all of this makeup and all of my friends put makeup on their mannequin heads.
Mindy Thomas
You had a wig themed birthday party where you did the hair of the wigs and you put makeup on the mannequin faces and. And then did you ever wear the wigs or was it just for the mannequins to wear like you were a hair salon?
Lucy
Well, the mannequins first wore them. It was the mannequins hair at first, and then it became our hair and we would all. We all named our wigs.
Mindy Thomas
Do you remember what you named your wig and your wig head?
Lucy
I think I named it Karen.
Mindy Thomas
Karen. What a great name for a mannequin head with a wig. Unbelievable. Amazing. And that is it for our three rounds of two. What's in a wow. For today? A big bonkerballs. Thank you to our very special guest Lucy for joining us today. And thank you for playing along with us. Lucy, we just got to know you. What would you like to challenge our viewers and our listeners to go do to get to know someone else?
Lucy
I challenge you to ask anyone that you don't know, maybe a classmate, a neighbor, or a new friend, what their favorite song is, and you tell them what your favorite song is.
Mindy Thomas
Oh, so you find someone. Do you introduce yourself? First you say, like, how do You. What do you do? How do you do that? How do you do that?
Lucy
Be like, hi, I'm Lucy. I was wondering what your favorite song was. Mine is Shake It All.
Mindy Thomas
Oh, okay. But what if your name's not Lucy? Can you just say, like, what your name is?
Lucy
Yeah, you say whatever your name is and whatever your favorite song is. Oh, okay.
Mindy Thomas
All right. So you go out there and you say, hi, I'm Lucy, or whatever your name is. My favorite song is the wow in the World theme song, what's yours? And then they tell you, and then maybe you sing it together. But that's how you start a new friendship so you get to know someone. I love it. All right, you heard it here first. Go out into the world and find someone who you don't know know yet. Maybe it's a new classmate, a neighbor, another kid who you've never met before. Maybe you don't even know their name and ask them about a song that they love or a favorite song. You might just get to know them a little bit better than you ever thought you would. All right, that's all the time we have for today. Lucy, thank you once again for joining us. And remember, if you want more wow, there's a lot more where that came from. Don't forget to like and and subscribe to our YouTube channel. And until next time, keep on wowing.

Wow in the World was made by Tinkercast.
Date: May 15, 2026
Hosts: Mindy Thomas (Tinkercast)
Special Guest: Lucy
This "People Who Wow Edition" episode features Lucy, an extraordinary kid from Virginia who loves lacrosse, is a self-proclaimed slime expert, and apparently has a knack for rescue missions. In this game-show-style episode, Lucy challenges Mindy to guess the true "wow" facts about her among two "what" (made-up) answers through three playful, laugh-filled rounds devoted to jobs, challenges, and celebrations. Listeners not only learn fascinating tidbits about Lucy’s life but are encouraged to spark curiosity and make connections in their own communities.
[05:00–06:14]
To get Lucy ready for the truth-guessing game, Mindy leads her through a rapid-fire round where Lucy’s answers must be intentionally wrong.
Quote:
“All right, Lucy. Amazing. Do you feel warmed up?” – Mindy Thomas (06:23)
“I do.” – Lucy (06:23)
[07:20–12:30]
Lucy presents three possible past jobs:
After humorous deduction, Mindy guesses (incorrectly) that Lucy was a YouTube influencer. The real "wow" is:
Lucy’s true job was as part of a Cat Search and Rescue Team—rescuing her escape-artist cat from a neighborhood sewer with her dad’s help!
Quote:
“So then he [my dad] has to lift up that grid thing on the sewer and lower me down into the sewer to look for him.” – Lucy (10:09)
Potato Discussion:
Lucy and Mindy share how they like their potatoes, and the exchange leads to twice-baked potatoes, to Lucy’s amusement.
[16:09–21:31]
Lucy shares three statements about tough experiences:
Mindy guesses incorrectly again.
The true fact: Lucy was born three months early and spent an extended time in the hospital.
Quote:
“My mom said that I was born three months early and that I needed to be born, so. Because I was ready for the world. So I went, hello, world.” – Lucy (19:17)
Lucy reflects that starting life with adversity has made her competitive and resilient.
[21:40–24:53]
Lucy presents three statements about party themes and traditions:
Mindy guesses correctly:
Lucy once had a wig-themed birthday party, complete with mannequin heads and a hair salon setup.
Quote:
“So we got a bunch of plastic mannequin heads and we put the wigs on top, and then me and my friends could brush them and then cut their hair if we wanted. And we got a whole bunch of hair accessories...and then with the plastic mannequins, we got all of this makeup and all of my friends put makeup on their mannequin heads.” – Lucy (23:32)
Lucy says she named her wig “Karen.”
[24:53–25:31]
At the end, Lucy encourages listeners to connect with someone new by sharing favorite songs.
Quote:
“I challenge you to ask anyone that you don't know, maybe a classmate, a neighbor, or a new friend, what their favorite song is, and you tell them what your favorite song is.” – Lucy (24:53)
This spirited episode with Lucy reminds listeners how everyone—especially kids—can wow the world with their stories and resilience. It encourages curiosity, laughter, embracing the unexpected, and forging new connections through playful, honest conversation.
Keep on wowing!
