Miles
Hashtag Miles advice. I have a co worker that makes weird, loud, obnoxious noises randomly. How do I deal with it?
Host
Very fitting.
Todd
Is someone in the office.
Tyler
It's gotta be. It's gotta be Tyler's burner.
Jared
No.
Todd
Taco Bell, Todd.
Tyler
Taco Bell, Todd, Tyler.
Jared
You guys, never once has Jared read one of my burners questions. I think I've only submitted like 3.
Tyler
But do better questions. Well, I mean, God, it's just again, so much limited information.
Todd
Right.
Tyler
If you like the guy, you then join in with him, you know, but if you don't, I'm guessing it's. I'm guessing it's an annoyance thing, right?
Todd
Yeah.
Jared
Otherwise he wouldn't have brought it to us. If he just was chill with the guy, he'd have been like, what?
Todd
And why, why is he doing them? Is he doing them to get a rise out of people? Is he doing them because he knows other people will laugh at it, or.
Tyler
Does he do it for the love of the game like Ryan does?
Todd
Yes. Or is he doing it like, is it just like an, like a Tourette's tick or something like that?
Jared
Yeah.
Tyler
What if he has Tourette's?
Todd
First question, lack of info.
Jared
Y.
Tyler
Clear that up. Sounds very Toretti to me. Sounds very Dominic Toretti to me. I think that's what it's screaming that like, maybe he's doing it for his family.
Todd
I think step one to figure, figure that out is do the sound back to him and if he gets mad that you're mocking him because he has Tourettes, he's going to say something about it. He or she?
Tyler
Yeah, I mean, it's like one of those things that, like, there's no. I don't know if there's a. And I can always find a way. But it's, it's so hard because it's like if you confront him about it, he's going to get offended, you know, and if you join in on it, you may just be encouraging it more.
Todd
Correct.
Tyler
And you could go the passive aggressive route, you know. Oh, I got a great one. Hopefully you're in like a office park, you know, somewhere type of deal. Basically just blast out an email, say, on the way home from work. Last night I talked to the neighbors and they asked if we could keep our dog down during the day. And they said like a. They just, I don't know, there's some loud barking or something, growling going on next door and it's really disruptive to our work environment. They'd be like, was anyone barking or Making any strange noises yesterday? You can. Let's just keep it down. We want to be good neighbors. Try that out.
Todd
Did anyone have a dog at the office yesterday that I didn't know about? Dogs aren't allowed. Number one. If there was, it was a perfect person who's pretending to be a dog. Shut the up.
Miles
Is there a karaoke singer around here?
Todd
Yeah. Yeah.
Jared
Is there somebody in the dark room just kind of like moaning to songs that you could hear through your vent?
Tyler
Yeah, because at our last office, we had speakers in the warehouse. We had the bass all the way jacked out. Oh, yeah. We play music during the day that apparently the. The bass was reverbing off of the building next to us, and they said it was, like, disrupting their work and so we had to turn down the bass.
Jared
Yeah, they were an H VAC company, so that checks out.
Tyler
What a bunch of narcs.
Jared
What?
Tyler
I mean, talk about Debbie Downer.
Jared
Yeah.
Tyler
The boys in the warehouse are just trying to get after it.
Jared
Just want to listen to Fetty Wap at lunch.
Todd
And it was. It was. It. It was usually like 5:00'. Clock.
Tyler
Yeah.
Todd
Or 4:30. Okay, sorry. We'll wait 30 more minutes.
Jared
Yeah, there was, like, you could tell when you guys were getting towards the end of the day.
Todd
Yeah. Yeah. Things got a little squirrely out there.
Tyler
And that shut the down pretty quick. So blame it on the neighbors.
Todd
Yeah, right.
Miles
What's your favorite random noise right now? Is that like picking your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Todd
I've been pretty calm lately, I feel like. I mean, I also spend a lot of time by myself, so.
Tyler
Actually, what was pretty funny is so Jake's in the cities, and so we were doing like, a Zoom call between me, Tyler, and Jake. So me and Tyler were technically here, but we were both in our offices on Zoom, and Tyler just goes miles. Can you hear Ryan singing right now? Really?
Jared
Yeah. I think you were in the dark room.
Tyler
Yeah. Recently.
Jared
Yeah, last week.
Todd
I. I haven't been in the dark room in probably.
Tyler
I can hear it. I can hear.
Miles
You're not helping yourself.
Tyler
Right? That's. Even then you're so. Then you're even further away than we thought. And he. What was he singing?
Jared
I don't remember, but it was.
Tyler
What did it sound like?
Jared
He doesn't, like, do the words. He, like, just kind of does the words a little bit. You, like.
Todd
It's classic, you know?
Jared
Like, people know the first part of a verse and then they mumble the rest. But you don't mumble the rest. You Kind of like just do the whole tone. Yeah. It was the day that the. They were. There was a group of people were here.
Todd
Well, it could have been one of them.
Jared
It for sure wasn't.
Miles
I mean, if there's.
Todd
If you're in an office, there's no proof you're right.
Tyler
The guy who sings loud by himself and makes noises all day or guests in a building that it's not there.
Jared
And sounds exactly like the guy. I'm on three podcasts with.
Miles
A tough one.
Tyler
If I closed my eyes. When you did that, though, I was. I was listening to Ryan, so that was definitely him.
Todd
I think I might just be into singing music these days.
Tyler
I. I. Yeah, for sure. I think. For sure. I think you do it so much that you'd like. It would be like, hey, you know what. What was your heart rate? You know, an hour ago? I'm like, I don't know. I just do it automatically.
Todd
Yeah.
Tyler
I don't. I don't need to keep inventory of that. It's like Ryan singing.
Jared
I don't have to tell myself to breathe.
Tyler
Yeah. It's an involuntary experience for Ryan.
Todd
Yeah. You guys should hear me on the lawnmower, because I can't with my AirPods in and the lawnmower going. You can't. I can't hear anything.
Jared
You're totally. Believe it.
Tyler
You're poor neighbor.
Todd
No, no, no lawnmower out here.
Tyler
Oh, yeah.
Todd
So I'm assuming the concrete guys out there and. And the subcontractors, they. And everything. Doesn't bother me, though. I'm not going to pretend to be.
Miles
If you got electric, they could hear you even better.
Todd
Correct. Yeah.
Tyler
Mo. Like no one's listening.
Todd
Exactly. And that's what I do. It's all about the art.
Miles
Yeah.

Date: September 22, 2025
Hosts: Myles, Tyler, Jared, Todd
Topic: Navigating life with a noisy, disruptive coworker in true Midwest fashion
In this comedic and distinctly Midwestern episode, the You Betcha Radio crew dissects a listener question: how do you handle a coworker who makes loud, obnoxious noises at work? Myles, Tyler, Jared, and Todd approach the scenario with a blend of tongue-in-cheek advice, office war stories, and philosophical musings on just being yourself. Along the way, the conversation touches on camaraderie, Midwest office culture, and the hazards of being the office noisemaker.
“Just blast out an email… talked to the neighbors… asked if we could keep our dog down during the day… Was anyone barking or making any strange noises yesterday? Let’s just keep it down. We want to be good neighbors.”
Tyler on Navigating Awkwardness:
“If you like the guy, you then join in with him, you know, but if you don’t… I’m guessing it’s an annoyance thing, right?” (00:35)
Tyler's Passive-Aggressive Solution:
“Just blast out an email… talked to the neighbors… asked if we could keep our dog down during the day…” (01:56)
Jared on Warehouse Complaints:
“What a bunch of narcs.” (03:18)
"Just want to listen to Fetty Wap at lunch." (03:28)
Tyler on Involuntary Noise:
“I don’t have to tell myself to breathe.” (05:55)
Todd Justifying Lawn Mower Singing:
“You guys should hear me on the lawnmower, because I can’t with my AirPods in and the lawnmower going. I can’t hear anything.” (06:00)
“It’s all about the art.” (06:27)
The episode blends classic Midwest humor with genuine workplace advice (however tongue-in-cheek). The crew leans into their own reputation for being office noisemakers, ultimately embracing the idea that sometimes you just have to own your quirks—or find creative ways to cope with your coworkers’. The conversation is light, self-deprecating, and full of practical jokes, perfect for anyone who’s ever shared a workspace with a character.
Midwest Vibe: Friendly, sarcastic, grounded in everyday experience, with plenty of playful shade thrown at both noisy coworkers and fun-hating office neighbors.
