Miles
Welcome back, everybody, to another episode of the you Betcha Radio podcast. We are back in the studio. We have quite a bit to unpack over the weekend. It's.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
So before we even get into our Wiffle Ball World Series that. We participated in that. Me, Tyler, and Jared participated in that. Ryan did not. I do. We do need to clear the air. Ryan, on. When we initially. You initially said you couldn't be there, you said there was a concert, right?
Ryan
Yep.
Miles
And then we were very confused because the concert was later at night six. And so we're like, well, what about earlier in the day? And you just were like, I. I need to mentally get ready for the concert. I don't want to. And then we find out, no, I.
Ryan
Don'T think I said I need to mentally get ready for the concert. I just said, I don't want to. I don't want to go on.
Miles
But we later find out that would have been an infinitely better excuse to not be at the Wiffleball World Series that you had, like, a guy's golf trip already planned for that day. Why didn't you just tell us that you had that planned already?
Ryan
Well, so the golf trip was. Was Friday. And also, Tyler, you're a. You're an.
Tyler
You said it on the podcast.
Ryan
It doesn't matter. That's a different podcast. We don't talk about that podcast. Separation of Church and State.
Tyler
We've posted it, but that's fine.
Ryan
He's not gonna listen to it, people.
Miles
I don't understand why you didn't want me to know that. That's just such a better excuse than being like, I got a concert at night.
Ryan
I didn't. I, I, I didn't want to.
Miles
I'm not mad about it.
Ryan
No, I know. I know.
Miles
I confused at why there was all no and deceit.
Ryan
There wasn't lying. There wasn't there. I, I didn't lie about. I didn't lie about anything. There was just details left out.
Miles
I know why. I mean, because. Can we even trust you anymore to say what you're saying is true or the whole truth is the question? You know.
Ryan
I wasn't gonna put fuel on my own fire. There was already a lot of heat coming at me because I wasn't playing in the Wiffle Ball World Series. If I'd have said I was going on a golf trip, it would have intensified things 10x. I can guarantee you that. And as much as you guys want to say it. Oh, no, I would have for sure. Live on air. It would have been like, well, there's.
Miles
Like, there's not true. There's multiple things going on here. So one.
Ryan
It.
Miles
From what Tyler told me, you had this trip planned for a long time. So when I initially brought it up to you, you should have. All you had to do is be like, I have a golf trip planned with my buddies that weekend, and then that's the end of it.
Tyler
And I. Right. I truly believe that if you just said the golf trip, all of us in here would have rather gone to a golf trip. So we would have been on your side. We'd be like, oh, yeah.
Ryan
What time did you guys get home? Like, what time did you get done?
Jared
7:30.
Ryan
We were home. Yeah. So regardless, I wouldn't have been. Why I wouldn't have been able to play.
Tyler
Well, we left for the concert for you. We were. We.
Jared
We were just spoken.
Tyler
Well, spoilers. We were.
Miles
Yeah. We literally got done at 5pm and then we hung out for a couple hours.
Ryan
Too close.
Miles
Regardless, we don't. This is. Hey, we are. This is. We're a podcast together. We don't need to be leaving out details for no reason whatsoever.
Ryan
I mean, anything.
Miles
And. And ruining the circle of trust that. That is this podcast.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
And so this is. Hey, it's fine. None of us are.
Ryan
And I know it's fine. It's some. Some details in my personal life. I. I don't need to share on.
Tyler
Air, you know, you shared it on air. Just.
Ryan
I share a lot of. I just decided to leave that. That one out because I didn't want to again. I didn't want to put fuel on my own fire.
Tyler
It just caused confusion is what it really did because we were so confused.
Ryan
No need to be confused. All you know is I'm not going to be at the Wiffle Ball World Series. That's all you guys needed to know. It's like taking a day off. It's like, oh, where are you going? It's like, well, I don't. In, like, bigger companies. This is different. Right. I'll tell you guys where I'm going, but in bigger, like, why do you need to know where I'm going?
Miles
You are correct. But this whole podcast is us discussing things like this. So regardless, you're right. We just. Hey, we'll never ask for a reason from you ever again. We'll just assume that you are always out.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
I mean, I didn't. Yeah. I never said. I never said I was going to be somewhere I wasn't. I just didn't. I just left out where I was Going to be that morning.
Miles
Correct. Which we're just. That's what we're so confused about.
Tyler
Because we wouldn't have begged and pleaded, like, you could come with and play the first couple games. We wouldn't have done all that.
Ryan
Oh, get out of here.
Tyler
We wouldn't. If we didn't know.
Ryan
Out of here, Tyler, you for sure would have.
Tyler
Every single one of us on the way to the tournament were like, yeah, we'd rather be going to a golf tour. A golf trip with the boys. Right now we get it. That is, except for Jared, who doesn't golf.
Miles
Except for Jared. Yeah.
Tyler
But the three golfers in the car were like, yeah, that sounds awesome. I'd rather be going on with my best friends going to a golf trip.
Ryan
It was awesome. Yeah, I'll talk about that tomorrow.
Tyler
And we'd have been like, oh, yeah.
Ryan
Podcast can be found.
Tyler
I get it.
Jared
The private podcast.
Miles
Yeah.
Ryan
Well, not now. I don't know if I can trust Tyler tell him anything.
Tyler
I literally said it on air on the Double Bogey Show. I'm like, oh, yeah, that sounds sick.
Ryan
I don't know if I can trust you anymore.
Tyler
You trust me. You lied to all of us first.
Ryan
I didn't lie to you about anything.
Tyler
You literally said you couldn't go in the morning because you have just a concert. You didn't say you said you had to.
Ryan
I just said. I just said I couldn't go. I did not say I was busy that morning. I said, I don't want to make too many commitments that day.
Jared
That is true.
Ryan
Run it back. We got plenty of tape pullers on this podcast. Yeah. Thank you. Jared.
Jared
You did say you can't make it correct, but you didn't specify why.
Ryan
Correct.
Miles
Yeah. Yeah. And I think obviously you're very worked up right now, and I understand, because.
Ryan
You feel now he's trying to back to me even more by saying that.
Miles
No, you're back to we backed you into the corner, which I did. That I. I'll own up to that. I think that the part that's so confusing is in the past, you have been pretty much an open book with us. So we. It's. We were more so just like, why all of a sudden, the secrecy?
Ryan
Okay, so the reason, if not it.
Miles
Always been secretive, we would not have thought twice about it.
Ryan
No.
Miles
But being a guy who's pretty open book about stuff, we were just confused with the secrecy and wondering about that.
Ryan
What? I don't think it wasn't even secrecy. It was more the fact that when you originally texted me to ask if I could play. I said, hey, I got this concert at 6pm and when, when you later realize, like, oh, shit, you did say that. I thought you were already committed. And then I said, well, no, I, we went through the text messages. We did all that. If I would, if I would have then added this onto it, then I feel like at that moment it would have been a much bigger deal that I wasn't going to be there because of A.
Tyler
And B. I, I, don't get mad at me again. I, I genuinely think you overthought that because if you would have told us you were going on a golf trip with the boys, I know you disagree.
Miles
We would have been cool with extra funny to be like, Miles, I said I couldn't go. Not only do I have a concert, I also have a golf trip plan that we've had for a long time, so I doubly can't go. And you thought that I could, even though I was very clear about that. Like, that would have been like, okay, yeah. Really an oversight of my.
Ryan
No, you know, and you're right. And, and I think I, if I would have committed to saying it right away, I, I, I, it would have been fine. But the week after, you know, in my head, if I was like, maybe I should, I should have disclosed that there you, there's no backpedaling on this podcast because then if I would have came back, the next one been like, hey, I actually got this too. And then I would have turned into like, oh, so you now you're just planning stuff for that morning when you, you know, it would have. That's what would have. Is why I never brought it up after the fact when it was already too late to say something.
Tyler
So, yeah, so I think the error was made in the initial. The first error was made in Miles just not reading his text.
Miles
Yeah. Which I think I owned up to. It was like, oh, fuck. Yeah.
Tyler
And then I think error two was you only talking about the Sam Barber in the pod.
Ryan
Because I couldn't, I could not add this back in after the fact.
Tyler
I think you'd have been okay though, if you did in that podcast. Like, I also had this too.
Ryan
No, because you know how like that.
Tyler
You would have got a little. But I don't think as much.
Ryan
Yeah, well, you're down playing it a lot.
Tyler
I, I true. I would have been on your side.
Ryan
It doesn't matter if you're on my side though. It's the guy sitting next to me that, that we would have went on.
Miles
So I also wanna, I wanna, I wanna say that regardless of what happens, unless you're doing some crazy illegal. That's really bad, I am always on your side. It's just, yes, I'm on your side, but I might be jabbing you in the side with something, but I'm still. Well, I, Like, I, Regardless of. Even if you had lied even more than you already did, if you would have withheld even more, I'm not like, ryan's dead to me. I'm just like, wow. I just, and I just don't, I'm.
Ryan
Confused when I think the other.
Miles
I'm always on your guys' side, so let's not get that confused. Even when I think some listeners will.
Ryan
Be confused about that statement, I think.
Miles
You, you know what I mean, Jared, it's not like, yeah, there are very little things you could do that is gonna be like, me be like, all right, you wait.
Jared
You just want honesty, that's all.
Tyler
Yeah, Yeah.
Ryan
I, I think another fact.
Miles
But even if we got a guy like Ryan who's being a little dish, withholding some of truth, I'm not gonna be like, I mean, I'm not abandoning. Like, we just gotta air it out and then we'll move on. I'll have a great podcast.
Ryan
Here's the other thing about my personality, whether you guys have figured this out or not, I have a hard time saying no to stuff. So I will try and make something work, like, to the very last.
Miles
That is why we are so confused, genuinely, about the fact that you had all day available other than the concert, because you are a guy who will make something work.
Ryan
No, I, I, I, I think it's more so just me learning how to, Just learning how to say no. Like, get straight to the point right away.
Jared
Yeah.
Ryan
Like, there are some times where I, I'll, I'll just leave stuff up in the air, even though I know I can't. So I can try and make it work. This one, I just, like, left. I didn't really leave it up in the air, but I also just didn't disclose that I was going on the golf trip.
Miles
Yeah. So, I mean, me and, and you are 100, right? In a workplace, you do not have to disclose, but this is a podcast.
Ryan
No, I, I completely understand. No, I, I could.
Miles
It's a, It's a weird conundrum we're in with the whole. We're a workplace, but we are also a podcast that shares about our life.
Ryan
Yeah.
Jared
Work hard, play hard.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
So.
Ryan
And there was no there's no lying. There's no dishonesty. There's just a detail left.
Miles
Oh, no. Tyler. What? We're almost through.
Tyler
No, it' the U.S. court of Law. Omission of truth is considered lying. Omission of truth.
Ryan
Is that a ship Omission?
Tyler
Omission of truth, basically. Not.
Miles
Not admission. Omission.
Tyler
Omission. Like. Yep. Not including a detail in your. In the court of law is.
Jared
You're not on trial, though.
Ryan
You're not.
Miles
Omen is a little bit on trial right now.
Ryan
My right hand was never raised, and this isn't a court of law.
Tyler
You're right. You're right.
Ryan
Yeah. No, but you're right in saying that.
Miles
But at what point does this become the. You bet your court of law, you know. You betcha radio. Are we not holding court right now?
Ryan
We can have a court. We can have a court of lawsuit. Like, if you're right, we need to.
Miles
Disclose that we are now in you bet your radio court.
Tyler
Correct.
Miles
So that there is no omission of the truth.
Tyler
And in your defense, you can use this now that we're in session. You never said you were on the record, so.
Miles
You said you never was on the. Well, I mean, we are recording.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
We just found something late in the discovery phase, you know, but. Yeah, no, it's. I just, again, I don't think we really care about what Ryan was doing on Saturday, but I just. I had to bring it up.
Ryan
No, I, I, I, I, I, I also knew that it was gonna get brought up. I, I mean, again, there's no good. There's no good way to be like. Yeah, I just.
Miles
Did you feel a little guilty about not just saying that? Is that why you talked about it on the Double Bogey show, or did you talk?
Ryan
Yeah, a little bit.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
See?
Ryan
Yeah, a little bit.
Miles
I mean, that's also kind of a smoking. If, if you feel guilty about something, you probably shouldn't have done it that way. I don't know.
Ryan
Yeah. I mean, right.
Jared
If you had a time machine, would you do anything different?
Ryan
But possibly. Okay, yeah. In the moment, yeah.
Miles
Had, like, if I had a time machine, I would read his text message.
Ryan
We start with the text message.
Miles
If we're being real. My negligence on reading the text messages is what started this whole thing, and I will own up to that fact.
Ryan
What? And I already knew that, like, as the baseball guy, not being able to go to the. The baseball function. That was not. It's not a great start.
Miles
All right, guys. Very excited this week for Prize picks, how we all feel. Let's just, let's just start it off with some clapping. Just clapping. We're clapping. We're excited for prize picks this week because the NFL is back, baby. And right now, guys, Prize picks will give you $50 in lineups. When you play your first $5 lineup, win or lose, you'll get 50 bucks in lineup promo code YBR when you sign up today. And let's clap for code YBR and the start of the NFL season. Yes, it is preseason, but it is still a season of some sort. And we spent all summer long in the Sahara desert of sports. We were, we were looking under every rock, looking in every nook and cranny. Last week we put a lineup in on Call of Duty, but we've made it. We are here. And it is time for anyone who is not currently on prize picks to fire up that account. Use YBR because the NFL is back and we're putting lineups on football yet again, boys.
Tyler
Feels good. Real good.
Miles
That being said, we have the first preseason game between the Chargers and the Lions. Jared, who do you got picked?
Jared
I have Omarion Hampton, less than 13 and a half rushing yards.
Miles
Less than. We got a lot of less thans, I think, in this first game of the year. Backups. Tyler, what do you got?
Tyler
I'm the only more than. I'm going Jake Bates, more than one and a half P a ts.
Miles
All right, so you're hoping for two touchdowns.
Tyler
Lions will score twice.
Miles
Okay, I have hendon Hooker, the QB, the backup QB for the Lions, less than 18 and a half rush yards.
Tyler
He ain't running anywhere preseason.
Miles
The backups can't even think out there, let alone run bubblegum.
Ryan
And I got the, the pride of the North Dakota State Bison, Trey Lance on I, I, I got Trey lance, less than 119.5.
Tyler
The prides.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
Yeah, There you go. I mean, I feel like they got the numbers pretty high for these guys.
Ryan
So I might throw a couple extra lineups.
Miles
Yeah, it's just, it's to that point I got that little tingly feeling in my feet. And I'm excited. I'm very excited, actually. I've never been this excited for preseason.
Ryan
Games ever, so I might throw 100 xer in.
Miles
Are you?
Tyler
You won't.
Miles
I'd like to see you try.
Ryan
Okay, I'll cook one outside.
Tyler
I'll ride with you.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
So, guys, it's that time. It's the time of the year. Fire up prize picks account. Let's get after it. This NFL Season, which is a great segue into the Wiffle Ball World Series. I don't think you being there to make you sleep better at night would.
Tyler
Have mattered in the grand scheme. No, I don't think it changes our record, but it changes our pride.
Miles
So hold on. So hold on. Okay, so on top of all this, we had. We. I had Jake be like, jake committed to doing the Wiffle Ball World Series.
Ryan
Okay?
Tyler
He's your replacement.
Ryan
Okay.
Miles
So at least you never actually committed. So you're feeling great right now. Jake committed. I was with Jake on Thursday. Wiffle Ball World Series is on Saturday. I told these two guys, Jake is definitely going to back out early on on Thursday. I go, hey, what is your plan for Friday? Saturday to get there for the Wiffle Ball World Series. Cause Jared not only did we. He commit to it. Jared sent a text message trying to get a plan together Wednesday night. On night. I talked to him on Thursday. He was in the group message. I know he saw the text message. And I go, what's your plan? And he. He does the lying face. You guys know the lying face. And he goes, oh, wait, that's this Saturday. And I just laid into him. I'm like, don't act like that. You know it's this Saturday. Why didn't you just tell us you didn't want to do it in the first place? You saw the text message. Why. Why didn't you respond this and that? And he was.
Tyler
And I know for a fact that he knew it was that weekend because previously in the week, I was talking to him through zoom, and he's like, yeah, I can for sure go to it because it's the same weekend as my friend's wedding that's in town.
Ryan
I'm looking.
Tyler
So I will.
Ryan
Real good.
Tyler
I will be in the area for that wedding, so I can for sure go play Wiffle ball the day before.
Jared
Guilty.
Tyler
So, yeah, he knew.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
You're now looking like a bouquet.
Ryan
When was the wedding?
Tyler
The wedding was Sunday. Yeah, either. Either Sunday, wedding Sunday, or something.
Miles
Regardless. So then we had to find. So we. We ended up getting my brother to come play. And so we show up, and let's. Let's just say it. We were the worst, statistically, the worst Wiffle ball team in the 13 years that this wiffle ball tournament asterisk.
Tyler
We were the worst offensively in 13 years.
Miles
Yeah, that's true.
Tyler
We didn't have the worst point differential even this year.
Miles
Correct. Yeah. Yes, you are correct.
Tyler
Yes.
Miles
But offensively, we had the coldest bats of Any wiffle ball team in the 13 years that this series has been going on.
Tyler
We could the fucking broad side of a bar.
Miles
So we scored a total of one run the entire tournament and our point differential was what?
Tyler
12. Minus 11.
Miles
Minus 11.
Ryan
Holy.
Tyler
Hey. One one team was minus 28.
Miles
Correct. So. So we went oh three and one. We tied a game. 00.
Tyler
Yeah. Because in pool play they weren't gonna do extra innings to keep things moving.
Ryan
Yes.
Tyler
So like soccer at the end of the fourth inning because he played four inning games of pool play ties a tie and we tied a team. 00.
Miles
Yeah. They also were absolutely obliterated.
Tyler
Shit can their catcher didn't know where he was.
Miles
Didn't know where he was. And we, we, we struck out or whatever and so we were flipping the side. So we were going out in the outfield. One of their players like was just standing in the outfield waiting to play defense. Even though they were on off drunk.
Tyler
We had to tell him to go hit. And that team. This is. It makes you they perfect gamed us. We didn't just tie00. We got perfect game.
Ryan
We had two perfect games against a shit faced pitcher.
Tyler
Back to back games. Game one and two, we got perfect game. And against this the pitcher was the most sober on their team, but he was still shit based.
Miles
What. What's wild is so if you take out one inning, we only gave up four runs. Four runs.
Ryan
We were good in four games.
Tyler
Four runs in four games. If you take out one inning where we gave up eight runs.
Ryan
Holy.
Tyler
And that was on two dingers.
Miles
So defensively and pitching wise we were rock solid steady.
Ryan
What was that? What did the, what did the field look like? Is there pitcher, catcher, outfield, infield?
Tyler
Yeah. So you go two outfielders because the second base is only five yards off of the whole the back fence.
Ryan
Yep.
Tyler
So we went two outfielders. Pitcher, catcher.
Ryan
Gotcha.
Miles
So yeah, it was quite the thing. You want we should have known the day was going to be what it was when my first at bat.
Tyler
Oh my God.
Miles
First swing of the day. I swing and I whiff and the bat no goes flying out of brewing flying out of my hands. And the best part is Ryan and Tyler were standing behind me and it went and hit both of them in the stomach.
Tyler
Yeah. The bat, it just so that the front of the barrel like the very tip of the bat hit me in the gut. And then the handle whapped Jared right in the ribs.
Miles
They both had welts the whole day.
Tyler
And then Miles clearly embarrassed face ready. He Goes. Shouldn't have put sunscreen on right before the game.
Miles
I did, though. I went to the truck, I put sunscreen on. I had it all over my hand.
Ryan
Cover up, though. I mean, you're quick on your feet. When it came to the.
Tyler
To the rebuttal, he full on longest yard popcorn. That I shouldn't have had that popcorn.
Jared
Yeah. Immediately it was like out of a movie.
Miles
So hard. I swung so hard.
Tyler
Right. We were. They don't have like benches or anything. And there's. We weren't even standing like where the on deck circle is standing. Like we were 6 o' clock from us.
Miles
I was.
Tyler
Yeah, we were directly behind him. So he let it go fully, like over his shoulder in his backswing.
Ryan
Holy shit.
Jared
Couldn't make again.
Ryan
We talked about bringing pine tar. The pine tar must not have been brought.
Tyler
No.
Ryan
Was there a heat check on that pitch?
Miles
Because the harder somebody way too early.
Tyler
So that was our problem. Right. We swung at everything.
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah. It's hard not to. How. Okay, can someone give me a gauge of how fast they're throwing?
Miles
Not very.
Tyler
Not that fast.
Miles
25 miles an hour.
Tyler
There was never even an inkling in me where I should have been hit. Heat checking someone.
Jared
Correct.
Ryan
Yeah. Okay.
Tyler
So we did. I did get. Got on some junk.
Ryan
Sure.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
That's where they're gonna get.
Miles
Putting some curvature on it. I told you guys, as soon as the ball started curving in baseball, I was like, I'm out.
Ryan
I'm done.
Tyler
When they weren't straight pitches down the middle, I. No more.
Miles
Yeah. I can't. I can't do it. So that was a real hot start. And, you know, being the. You bet you guy and everyone there knowing who I am, I didn't get any thrown my way after that. That was. Yeah, they just let it slide.
Jared
Yeah. There was like one volume missed and somebody said Charlie Barons would have caught it.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
One major error and you.
Ryan
And. And so. And that was the leadoff spot, too.
Miles
Now, in my defense, though, on that defensive error that I had, I had. We had just slammed a bunch of beers before the game, and I just had beer sloshing around in my belly.
Tyler
So did that. Game two, we spent the whole first inning because game one, we embarrassed ourselves. And then game two, we're like, we need. Just need to get drunk. And then Miles and I spent the whole first two innings trying to burp.
Miles
Yeah.
Tyler
So much.
Ryan
There's an issue.
Miles
So many times looking at each other, being like.
Jared
Like there wasn't a lot of chitchat. It Was a lot of silence.
Miles
You guys are.
Jared
Try to.
Tyler
I had two very egregious errors, but none of them. I had more than two errors, but two. Just embarrassing ones.
Ryan
So what was the positioning? Who was pitching?
Miles
My brother was pitching, Jared was catching, and me and Ty were outfielders.
Ryan
Got it.
Tyler
It.
Miles
Dude. It just keeps. So we. The third game, right, was when we got our first hit.
Tyler
Yep.
Miles
So we. It was the third game, we got our first hit. I got on base, which somewhere we have the whiff. We saved the.
Tyler
Yeah, we told. Yeah, we were like, excited that it was our first hit. The. The dude's like, save that ball. Save that ball. Then they threw it in from the outfield.
Ryan
Was it. Was it a legit hit? Like the line drive?
Miles
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was the one that was towards the fence.
Tyler
Right. I think. I think the first hit, you hit it down like the first baseline.
Jared
Nobody remembers.
Miles
I don't remember. I was at that point pretty intoxicated.
Tyler
Like, pitcher had a play on it, but it was too. He hit it too hard. Got just under his glove issue.
Miles
Crowd went wild, though, when we got our first hit.
Jared
Correctly.
Miles
So we got the first hit. Made a big deal out of it. I got the ball. We'll put it in the studio. You know, we might write on it, you know, first base hit, whatever. And actually the technique that I switched to was I just started swinging with one arm.
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there's something about it feel like when your body. Your body turns a little bit more towards the field and you just get a better visual.
Miles
So when we finally did score our first run, Jared got a base hit. So he was on first. I hit the ball. It kind of pops up to. In between the pitcher and the outfielder and they both call it and they both just smash into each other.
Tyler
You could hear it in Jamestown.
Miles
Ball on the ground. Jared makes it all the way home. We score run. So quite literally, the only way we were able to score a run is because the pitcher and the outfielder almost decapitated each other because of concussion.
Tyler
It was a solid snack.
Jared
And then when I went home, I, like, I thought people would be cheering, and they're just dead silent because they're.
Tyler
All worried if they're alive.
Ryan
Yeah, they. I mean, they. They took your shining mom. What?
Tyler
They did.
Miles
That's right.
Tyler
And that. That ump. That ump was like him. Balls live. He literally was like, ball still alive as this pitcher's laying on the ground.
Ryan
Just.
Miles
So I got a triple out of this.
Ryan
I was going to say, did you Try and stretch three. Okay.
Tyler
You should have taken it.
Miles
Should have.
Ryan
Was there anyone playing third base, Coach.
Tyler
Like, some teams did not team.
Miles
Yeah.
Tyler
Some guys took it.
Miles
We only made it to third twice.
Tyler
Yep.
Miles
So it would have been pointless.
Tyler
I didn't get a single hit. I struck out the first game, and then after that, I popped up probably eight times.
Ryan
Softball guy. Yeah, softball guy.
Tyler
Underneath everything.
Miles
I did have a miraculous catch, though.
Tyler
You didn't need to be miraculous, Miles.
Ryan
Is that a misread?
Miles
Off pop up? No pop up between me and Tyler, we established early on that Tyler was going to be the center fielder, calling people off and on.
Ryan
Okay.
Miles
I don't. I just remember. I don't know. You were pretty intoxicated at this point.
Tyler
I was camped under the ball, so.
Miles
Hold on.
Tyler
Me, me, me, me.
Miles
Had a couple errors already.
Tyler
This was before that. This was before that.
Miles
I don't think I was time travel. I think it was before. So Ryan's or Tyler says he's camping underneath it. I don't know. I got no feel for where he is. All I is is me and the ball at this point.
Ryan
Sure, you're committed.
Miles
And then at the last second, I do feel Tyler there. So I knew I had to go high point it. Otherwise it was going to be a disaster. So I went up, you know, 50, 50 end zone ball. I went up and got it. I ended up catching it, but then I fell back into Tyler. We both fell into the lfield fence and just plowed it completely.
Tyler
It's a PVC fence that we broke.
Jared
It was funny.
Miles
And then the guy tagged up and got second base because of it.
Tyler
Yep.
Miles
But it did look sick. I mean, I had to have been, what, 24 inches in the air.
Tyler
I'm like, literally said, me, me, me, me, me, me, me. It was funny. It's just so unnecessary. Thank God he caught it because it would have been really embarrassing if you did it. It was a good catch, so.
Ryan
And then they had to just delay the game to get the fence back up.
Jared
Didn't take very long.
Tyler
The up and got second. Felt so bad for us. He called time and came to help us put the fence back up.
Ryan
Basically called time. Otherwise he could take them out. Out of the base path. Yeah.
Miles
So, yeah, we didn't. So it was what, Pretty much every team makes it into the tournament except for what?
Tyler
No, everyone's in. You're guarant, you're g. But the actual tournament.
Miles
So we had to play a play in game to the tournament. So there's what, 17 teams I think.
Tyler
Yeah, there was, there was two play in game. So four teams weren't just automatically in the 16.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
So yeah, we, we lost that game. We didn't even make it into the actual tournament.
Tyler
Oh, we got, we got beat. 1 nothing on a walk off solo shot.
Jared
That's right.
Tyler
Bottom of five. Yeah. We are now putting on another defensive clinic.
Ryan
So were people like, were people hitting bombs over this fence? If they got a hold of one, it was going 40 yards over.
Miles
Yeah, I mean in our defense, none of us on our team played baseball past like eighth grade and I, I was probably the only one that played till eighth grade. So we had, we're walking in with zero baseball talent whatsoever. And these other guys clearly were softball team guys.
Tyler
So one dude came up to us before we even started, said that he used to eat your lunch.
Miles
Oh yeah.
Tyler
From Valley City. So a baseball player from Valley City was his name?
Ryan
Was. It was his initials junior?
Tyler
No.
Ryan
Okay.
Tyler
First name starts with a B. Oh, is it B? A BR oh, he said he's a lefty, a lefty hitter. And that a right handed sidearm pitcher was his bread and butter. And he said he took you deep many times. And he says he has video of it, that he's.
Ryan
What's his name?
Tyler
Yeah, I don't remember his last name. Okay. Oh, you're saying initials B.A.
Ryan
Initials B.A.
Tyler
I thought you were spelling his first name.
Ryan
Yeah, he was a fucking dog. But I also, I, I mean he didn't, he definitely didn't. Like we were. He took my lunch money, I took his.
Tyler
Okay.
Ryan
And we can go, we can go look up individual stats. No, no games.
Tyler
He liked you. He was nice.
Ryan
No, he's a phenomenal guy.
Tyler
He was very.
Miles
He did like you. Which was our first alarm.
Ryan
Maybe this guy's lying. No, we get along. Like Ryan.
Tyler
Yeah, he just very subtly was like, yeah, I used to crush Ryan.
Ryan
Yeah, he listens to the pod too.
Tyler
Nice.
Ryan
Yeah, he's. I mean he's a, a, he's a stud. He. Not to, not to degrade vcsu. He shouldn't have been playing there. He should have been playing somewhere else.
Miles
So not Division 3. Should have been playing higher than that.
Tyler
Yeah, he was good. We watched his team.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
Crushed the ball.
Ryan
Yes, he does.
Tyler
I think, I think we, we left before because the. We. We weren't even through the first round by the time we had to go home and it was like 7 o' clock and I think they had a pretty good shot of winning. And I'm not 100% sure who won yet, though?
Miles
Yeah, I think we look up Facebook.
Tyler
Were the 1 seed though, going into the tournament.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
Yeah. So that was. That was tough. And then on top all that, like in the third game of four, I Achilles started getting tight on.
Tyler
Your Achilles Got hurt when you ran into me?
Miles
No, I don't think that's.
Tyler
You immediately got up. You're like, my Achilles, dude.
Miles
Is that what it was?
Ryan
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Even lights are on. No one was home at that point.
Miles
Tight. And so then the whole time I'm like, don't make too many sudden movement because last thing I need is a popped Achilles, you know? Yeah, I can handle Achilles strain, which is what I got, and I'm currently nursing it.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
But I was like, if I tear my achilles over going o3 and one with one run, this would be terrible.
Jared
Hot as too.
Tyler
It was so it was miserable outside.
Ryan
Okay. Just. I just want to get a better gauge of things. Like a good game. What's the final score?
Miles
9 to 7.
Tyler
Okay. Yep.
Ryan
Okay.
Tyler
Yeah. I think the most runs I saw scored because you could get 10 runs. 12. It was. Yeah, it was like 13 3. I saw a 10 run game because you could get 10 run.
Ryan
And you guys never got 10 run, did you?
Tyler
No, the worst. The worst loss was eight nothing. And they scored all eight runs on two homers.
Miles
Then we lost, what, three to one.
Tyler
Three. One and then one one nothing. And then we had the tie.
Ryan
And what kind of bat are you using? Using a fat bat or using a. Just a baseball? Wiffle bat.
Tyler
It looks exactly like a baseball bat, but it's black plastic.
Ryan
Gotcha. Okay. Is it a wiffle ball with holes all over like a pickleball, or does it have the three. The three stripe holes, the lines on one.
Tyler
So those.
Ryan
Yeah, you can get dirty with those. Y. Oh, yeah, that's an issue.
Miles
So then my brother gave up two home runs in a row. And so we kind of had like a thing where like, hey, if they. If it starts to go bad, we're gonna change pitchers. So I went into pitch, I'm doing my warm up pitches, and they're right down the pipe. I'm like, let's go. I got this. The next eight pitches, I threw seven balls in one strike. They just switched back after the. After the seventh ball. I just go like a. I just put my finger up and start walking the outfield.
Ryan
It's a good try.
Miles
Well, the problem was, is I wasn't. I was. I think I was using the lines on the wiffle ball because if you turn it a certain way, it'll curve and whatever. And I was gonna put way too much curve on it.
Ryan
Yeah. Okay. Okay.
Jared
Hey, now we know.
Miles
No, we know.
Ryan
I just need more reps, so, like, any mountain. Did you do any mountain visits or anything?
Miles
No, no.
Ryan
It's okay.
Miles
Like I said, defense was no problem.
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah.
Jared
Oh, nothing, really. Just the bats.
Tyler
Jared had some great catches behind the plate. He did one that was his best catch. Didn't count. Caught it off a bush, and then the ump's, like, hit a tree.
Jared
Didn't count.
Tyler
And even though there's no challenge either, even though I'm playing in the outfield, if it hits a tree and I catch it, it's fine. But it's. Jared, does it. Apparently, it doesn't count.
Miles
Strike zone was from your ankles all the way to the top of your head.
Tyler
Pretty much.
Ryan
Yeah. And you threw.
Miles
I mean, getting it over the plate was my issue. It wasn't up and down. So cool.
Jared
Golf boy.
Miles
Yeah. Why don't you go. Yeah, why don't you go circle jerk with your boys and Brainerd again?
Tyler
Ryan. The very first inning of the very first game, we went. Who did? Jared, were you second? I. I let off, and I struck out in three pitches. And then whoever was second also struck out in three pitches.
Jared
Yeah, that was me.
Tyler
Yeah.
Jared
Yep. That's correct.
Miles
Correct. So six pitch inning.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
So that. I mean, that pitcher, he was going the distance for sure.
Tyler
Nope. They switched pitchers three times in that game. And perfect game to us as a team because they knew after inning one, they're like, this is a great practice round for us.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
So, like, let's try out all our arms.
Jared
We were like, a scrimmage to them.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
And so are you guys bummed that this is. Because this is the last year of the Wiffle Ball World Series. So do you would. Do you want redemption?
Jared
Like, I would like to.
Miles
I would not be back.
Tyler
Oh, I would. I would go back at A Heartbeat.
Ryan
Oh, really? Yeah, I would like to. I'd have to check my schedule first.
Miles
Off, but you're not invited. I don't know, dude.
Tyler
It. I would go back for sure.
Jared
That was fun. I had a lot of fun, and I have fun.
Miles
But I also like to win.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
Yeah. No, that's tough. That's tough.
Tyler
Exactly. We got our asses beat, and we need redemption.
Jared
Yeah. Hypothetically, we can't do much worse if we were to go back next.
Tyler
That's true.
Miles
But if we did do worse.
Jared
Yeah. They were not going.
Tyler
We Couldn't, dude. We'd go to the. We'd go the night before and we'd do the Home Run Derby. Not because we're trying to hit home runs, but we're trying to figure out how to hit the ball.
Miles
I also realize that the best way to turn an enemy into a friend is just by bonding over free alcohol.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
They had free booze, Noel. So Tyler was kind of being a little like, ah, that. That guy pitching right now. God, just don't. Yeah, he's rubbing me the wrong way.
Tyler
So there's this dude. I was playing left field, and there's this guy. The audience just sits on the baselines, basically, and he's sitting there and he's kind of chirping me because I was, like, pulling my shorts up a little bit when I'd get into my. When the pitch was about to be thrown hard on. And every time he'd be like, oh, here come the shorts. Here come the shorts. Here come the shorts.
Ryan
Yeah, that would piss me off.
Tyler
It pissed me.
Miles
And then so. So Tyler was a little worked up, to say the least. Then after one of our games, we're walking back to where our chairs were, and we're like, where's Tyler? And he's standing there talking to the guy, just drinking his whiskey.
Tyler
He just kept giving me spools.
Ryan
The way I see that. Is he. The guy was just trying to get your attention because he wanted to have a beer with you. Maybe you want to have a drink with you.
Tyler
Turns out he's a great guy.
Ryan
The free booze.
Miles
Is he a great guy if he doesn't give you free booze? Is the question. You know, they were.
Tyler
He was being nice before the booze was given out. So I think I would have probably not hated him.
Ryan
Like, if it was a dry tournament, you wouldn't have went up and started chitchatting and. Correct. Being buddies with them. You might have been able to share a smoke with him or something.
Tyler
Yeah, maybe.
Miles
But just think of how easy it is to make friends if you have free alcohol.
Tyler
Right.
Miles
You start handing out free drinks at a bar. You are everyone's friend, and that's just how life goes.
Tyler
It's what it's purely. It's social lubrication.
Ryan
Yeah. And I don't think if someone comes up for a free beer from you, like, there's not a guy coming up without a smile on his face.
Tyler
Right.
Ryan
And that's a great introduction to begin with.
Tyler
Yep.
Miles
And I just think that we should be handing out free alcohol at More stuff. You know, if, if, if you are a car salesman, you're not going to let them test drive it when they show up. You should have a keg there and saying, hey, do you want a free beer while we look at these cars? And then you know, make sure you bring your wife so you can, she can drive you home.
Ryan
Yeah, you can sit in the passenger seat. I mean that's make good.
Miles
Yeah, that's a really bad example.
Ryan
Well, look at it this way. Like you got these, these like chain haircut businesses like great Clips or whatever they're giving, they're giving free beers out with haircuts.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
Because they know their product isn't as good.
Ryan
Exactly.
Miles
So yeah, it makes everyone feel better about it.
Tyler
When we went to Nashville, we went to the boot store with Covas. They're giving out free beers there. And you.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
Trying to get you to buy boots.
Ryan
Oh God, I would have bought a pair of boots so quick.
Tyler
We did. They didn't need to give me the beer. I was already committed.
Ryan
Yep.
Miles
You didn't buy boots in Nashville though.
Ryan
That's because my wife was with.
Tyler
That's smart.
Ryan
I was shit facing the bootstra and I put a pair on. I'm like, wow, do these feel good? And I was like, I gotta get. I think they're like 300 some bucks. I'm like, I gotta to get these. And she talked me out of it. She said what? She said we'll talk, we'll talk about getting them in the morning and if you still want, we'll go get them like little kids. And then we, I think we just forgot to talk about it.
Miles
But even just think about scenarios like let's say you, you know, you're trying to, you know, get in with the in laws or something like that. Nothing will make you break the ice better than being, than offering a beer to someone. That's maybe a little standoff to you.
Ryan
Yeah, well, yeah, I also think it like, it's a good way to get through maybe some awkward silence. Like if it was the in laws because you can, like if you got something in your hand and you're just kind of. You both are sipping away. There's really no awkward silence versus like if you're just sharing a water, you know.
Miles
Yeah. So I don't know. I just feel like any scenario is. Any situation can be improved with some free alcohol.
Tyler
It's a peace offering. Yeah.
Ryan
Except for a car dealership maybe.
Tyler
Yeah, scratch that one.
Miles
Like the one.
Tyler
Yeah.
Jared
What about the dentist?
Tyler
I mean that's probably fine.
Miles
I mean, why not start off a dentist trip with a beer? Because they're gonna clean your teeth anyways.
Jared
It'll kill some bacteria.
Miles
Like, why don't dentists start with free beer and candy? Because if you eat the candy, they're just gonna clean it all off right away anyways. And then it's like, that should be the one time you should be eating and Dr. Stuff that's bad for you.
Tyler
I think we're missing a super important point. Every time I leave the dentist office, what do they give you? Mouthwash. That's alcohol.
Miles
That's true.
Tyler
They're already doing it.
Ryan
True.
Tyler
They give you a shooter before you leave.
Miles
But I don't go, wow, they gave me this shooter of mouthwash. I now like them more.
Ryan
Yeah, yeah. They stopped giving me a mouthwash at the dentist because I kept swallowing it.
Miles
Okay.
Ryan
Dave. No, I feel like anywhere with a waiting room is a great place to hand out free beer. And the first thing that came to mind was the DMV. Back to the car dealership thing. DMV's. Probably you just.
Tyler
No, not good.
Miles
Steer away from.
Tyler
I know.
Miles
Quite Motor Vehicles.
Ryan
Yeah, I know, I know.
Miles
How about. How about when you walk in the mall?
Tyler
Yeah. You know, it would get me if they gave out, like, free beers. When you're trying clubs, getting fitted for.
Miles
Clubs, they would sell so many more clubs at the golf store if they were handed out free beers while you're doing fittings.
Tyler
Yep.
Ryan
Well, and it probably speeds the process up a little bit because you're going to be making decisions faster.
Miles
Plus, it's also a more accurate. Your swing is a more accurate representation a few beers deep than if you're in the golf store completely sober.
Tyler
I need two sets of clubs. I need to have my sober clubs and my drunk clubs.
Miles
Yeah. It should be like. Instead of them being like, okay, do you normally slice it or hook it? They first question should be, how much do you usually drink on the course?
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
And if you're like, yeah, eight beers, they're like, all right, well, let's start drinking, get you in the optimal thing here. And then we can start talking about slicing and hooking.
Tyler
Yeah. We'll start warming you up at your sixth beer, and then by eight, we'll. We'll start the fitting.
Ryan
That's actually a great idea.
Jared
Yeah. Like, Best Buy, put the beer by, like, the biggest TVs.
Tyler
Yeah.
Jared
Impulse buyers.
Tyler
That way you put it by the medium TVs, they can get a buzz, and you work them towards the big tv. Like Let me show you something that we don't put out in the front for everybody.
Ryan
Yeah. Let me take you to the back room.
Miles
So, yeah, all in all, if they had another one next year, I don't know if I'm playing out after that. It was kind of.
Tyler
I.
Miles
It was. We were really bad.
Tyler
I think I could talk you into it.
Ryan
Were you guys taking. Were you. Were you taking BP or anything? Or did you like.
Miles
That was also. We went in 100 cold.
Ryan
I know there was no BE. You guys didn't play like, yeah, we would have.
Tyler
There just wasn't an opportunity because both fields were being played in at all times.
Miles
And you also can't be the hardos trying to get in batting practice and then be the. Statistically the worst team, because at the first game, my thought was we should probably get some practice cuts in. But then I'm like, we can't be the guys getting extra reps and being that bad because they're all just thinking it's not going to matter.
Tyler
See, and that's. That's all knowledge we have for. If they had it again, we could improve upon. We could go do the Home Run Derby to get some BP in and see some.
Miles
They all got Home Run Derby.
Tyler
Yep. They all did the. Pretty much every team did a Home Run Derby the night before.
Ryan
Oh, you guys want to get some wiffle ball going on on the front lawn?
Tyler
I'm not gonna lie to you, Ryan. I kind of do. I kind of. I just.
Miles
I'm not gonna lie, Ryan. We can discuss that in a week. I'm still a little tender about the whole golf thing. Okay.
Jared
I thought your Achilles was tender, too.
Miles
That. That, too.
Tyler
I am sore. My.
Jared
So sore.
Tyler
My hip flexors are tight.
Ryan
Mine, too.
Tyler
I just. Miles, you think you said it after the first game, you're like, it felt really good to just run full speed at something.
Miles
It was. It's like, how often do you actually have an excuse to run full speed?
Ryan
So now, were you guys, like, first game, like, kind of just getting into it, not really knowing how guys are playing? Were you. Were you sprinting down the first baseline.
Miles
Line or did not even get an opportunity?
Ryan
Okay, all the questions I had are kind of irrelevant.
Miles
Make contact until the third game. I did not make contact with a ball.
Tyler
No, you had some ticks in the second game because we got. We did the bench hammers. Yeah.
Miles
The second game, I finally made contact. I did four foul balls on what I bat and then struck out.
Tyler
So. So Miles's brother and I didn't get a single hit, but we flew out a bunch and, and his brother did hit a home run foul.
Jared
Yeah, that's right.
Miles
So we were.
Tyler
He still struck out that at bat, but he did it. A home run foul. And we were pumped.
Ryan
Yeah.
Jared
And Miles, you hit us the first game, so I can.
Tyler
This is true. You did hit us.
Miles
So. Yeah, I made contact in the first game. It just was with humans and not, Not a Wiffle ball.
Ryan
Did one of you guys walk the bat to back to him, or did you have to go walk and get the bat?
Jared
It'll happen.
Tyler
So it hit me and then, like, stuck in that bush right next to me.
Jared
I don't remember.
Tyler
And so I grabbed it and gave it to the ump because Miles was doing crowd control, talking about his pr.
Ryan
He had a lot going on. You had to deal with. I, I, I understand.
Miles
And then after, you know, salt in the wound after what, what was it? Our third game, I had to go do radio.
Tyler
Oh, yeah. In, In a trailer.
Miles
The lady did know that I did content online, so she was like, kind of a little bit prying about what I do or whatever, so I eventually, slowly had to reveal that.
Jared
And yeah, it was great radio.
Miles
But then one. But then once she found out that I basically talk, do a podcast for a living, she wouldn't let me get go. So it was like, all right. And she's like, just one more segment. One more segment. And I, at this point, I'm just sweating my ass off. Sh. Face. And I'm holding the Wiffle ball that I got a basement like a little kid.
Tyler
I didn't know that you just had the prop in there on radio. Tell us about this ball you're holding, Miles.
Miles
Well.
Jared
What do you should ask?
Miles
Yeah.
Jared
It was good, though.
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah. A lot of questions. They're all kind of out the door, though, because.
Tyler
Yeah, a lot of people asked about you.
Ryan
It's not surprising.
Tyler
Yeah, genuinely.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
I know a lot of them. Valley City players.
Ryan
Yep. So there was probably anyone not a fan, because it wouldn't. I mean, not surprising at all.
Tyler
No. No one that said that outright.
Jared
Sure. Sure. There was haters there.
Miles
I thought it hadn't been a tough hunting.
Ryan
They were probably thinking it. Yeah.
Miles
If there was 15 people that came out to us and there's 100 people there, 85 people were haters.
Ryan
I'm pretty sure that's not surprising. Yeah.
Miles
Well, Ryan, it's okay.
Tyler
We'll get a team for the next one. They'll come back in a couple years.
Ryan
Was the guy Selling. Is it in someone's backyard? Is he selling his house or what?
Tyler
No, I think the story is kind of kids are just moving away. Everyone's doing different things.
Miles
They're all like 40 years old.
Ryan
Ever something that you'd want to consider taking?
Tyler
We did talk about it. We have the space.
Miles
We.
Ryan
We had too many beers to be.
Jared
Talking about that or just the right amount of beers. It talks about like that.
Miles
Yeah, that's true. It was on the drive home, we're like, you know, we. We could have a couple of fields outside the office space and we got.
Tyler
Some cool features too. We'd have. We could have canoes out in the pond.
Ryan
I was gonna say it's like the. The giants, right? Feed field.
Jared
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Miles
We could have a 10 field wiffle ball complex out there.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
Could be sweet.
Ryan
It could be sweet.
Jared
Turns like a thousand bucks a team.
Ryan
Yeah. I mean, the getting weed whacked out there, that would look pristine.
Tyler
Yeah. We go. We do it last weekend in September. A little cooler.
Ryan
Yeah. Free beer.
Miles
It was free beer at this event.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
It's kind of sick. All right, well, should we take a break, boys?
Tyler
Yep.
Miles
All right, Jared, we're back. We are back. We're rocking and rolling. That's our first ever slow clap into a segment. Here we are. Jared, you got some big news for the boys.
Jared
Moved into a house in the last three, four months and I'm now a part of the nextdoor app community.
Miles
Hey.
Tyler
Wow.
Miles
Nice. You are part of the nextdoor app community. So I am not. But we do have the like ring doorbell app. So we got a ring doorbell and so I feel like it's next door app. Light is the ring app.
Jared
It's next door to next door.
Miles
Correct. Right next door. D anyu rest the other guys have next door app.
Tyler
Yeah, I. I had it when I lived here.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
I don't. There's no need for anymore.
Miles
You don't have neighbors.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
Yeah.
Jared
Out of city limits.
Ryan
I. I just. I. I have the ring cameras as well. Can you talk to people on the ring cameras? Like in a. Yeah, you could post stuff.
Miles
Stuff. No, you can post stuff and then people can comment and like, and stuff.
Ryan
I'm gonna start posting on there.
Tyler
There you go.
Ryan
Gain a little following.
Miles
I don't have a ring ring doorbell app. Influencer.
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, they're gotta be looking for influencers at this point. But no, I. I don't have the next door up. I. Well, if I did, it would just be me and my next. Just One neighbor. And that's actually for us, it's just called the text thread.
Tyler
Yep.
Jared
So it's called imessage.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
So I. I'm pretty sure I have the gist of what the next door app is, but explain what, what you got yourself into.
Jared
Yeah, it's like, I don't know, it's like in high school, you know, you do the regular apps, you know, Instagram, Facebook, whatever. And then you go to college and then it's the next door app. It's kind of like when you go to college and you see that theater kids actually exist. You never knew that that thing existed before, but you kept hearing about it.
Ryan
It's a phase of life type deal.
Jared
Exactly.
Miles
Yeah. So what's going on on the next door app?
Jared
There is a lot of older people hating younger people.
Miles
Okay.
Jared
There's a lot of lawns that need to be mowed and people offering to mow lawns.
Ryan
Sure.
Jared
And. And there's a lot of Amazon packages getting stolen, apparently. So those are the three things I've been noticing.
Miles
So that is the entire next door app is old, old guy yelling at cloud.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
Lawn wars and. Or lawn services and then packages being stolen.
Jared
That's all it is.
Tyler
So really what nextdoor has turned into, it's just localized Facebook.
Miles
It is hyper local.
Tyler
It is Facebook in your immediate vicinity. It's like they have a. There's a marketplace on Nextdoor now too.
Miles
Yeah. I mean, you're gonna have to keep an eye on it for next elections cycle. People are probably gonna be posting their new yard signs supporting one side or the other. Could turn into political if it's like.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
So people will keeps stealing my. My yard signs. And that's because I had it for like 10, 15 years. I've had it since I was in college.
Ryan
Oh, really?
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
Oh.
Ryan
So do you get like well versed? Do you get invited to the next door app by like a neighbor saying like, hey, we're all on the next door app. Like, you should download it and like join our neighborhood or how does it work?
Tyler
You just get it and share your location.
Jared
Location, yeah. And then it like inserts you into that location.
Miles
So how do they usually, like. Because they have to like gate it. So like is it just within a however much radius?
Jared
Or I think it's like a 10.
Miles
15 mile range or do you join a neighborhood?
Tyler
So two ways. You can either geo. Just like open up the geolocating services and then you can set your radius. Like, hey, I want to know what's going on in my entire town. Or I want to have it in the Osgood neighborhood. Like, I just want to know what's going on there. There. And that's.
Jared
That's.
Tyler
And as the longer I've had it, the more narrow I made my. My circle.
Ryan
Yeah. It just became you and your next door neighbor.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
Can you find, like, a weed plug on there?
Jared
You can get your weeds pulled.
Ryan
Like, ISO Looking for a weed plug. Yeah, I E. Like, I need. I actually need my weeds plugged.
Jared
He's the winking emoji.
Miles
Yeah. There's slang on there for certain things.
Jared
You know, haven't got that far into it, but I'll. I'll reset research it.
Miles
So what. Have you seen any wild conversations in there yet or.
Jared
I. I saw, like, a. A fake account that's like, he's pretending to be an old lady. And it's clearly, like, just a parody, like, making fun of the app itself. It's very fun.
Miles
So you sniff that out.
Jared
Sniff that out pretty quick.
Ryan
And do you know what house that they're coming from?
Jared
You know, the neighborhood they're coming from?
Ryan
Okay, yeah.
Jared
So say, like, whatever downtown.
Ryan
Sure. Yeah.
Tyler
So Jared mentioned this to me before the pot. So I re downloaded next door, and it's set up to my old neighborhood where I used to live in Fargo. And there's a landlord looking for a handyman right now because SWAT showed up to his six apartments last week and busted down all the doors.
Miles
Oh, my God, all the doors?
Tyler
Yeah. Six units. Six units. Doors have been swatted.
Miles
It's also wild. Like, does the SWAT team pay for that? I guess I never even thought about that. Like, who pays for the doors to get fixed?
Jared
I guess the landlord with insurance, maybe.
Miles
Yeah, there's gotta be. Is there a SWAT insurance? Yeah. When SWAT teams come busting through the windows, who's fixing those windows?
Jared
Who's paid for this?
Ryan
I've actually, I've had that same thought. It's been a while since I have, but I don't know. The city, does that go on, like, special assessments where the whole neighborhood ends up paying for it over time?
Tyler
The whole comp. Apartment complex pays for it.
Jared
I'm not paid for that.
Ryan
Huh. So, like, if I, like, could I just join your neighborhood?
Tyler
Yeah, you can pick a neighbor that.
Ryan
Does that to me. That doesn't make any sense because then, I mean, you get some creeps out there joining neighborhoods with kids in it or whatever. That.
Miles
That's.
Ryan
Yeah. That kind of hooked up.
Tyler
Yeah.
Jared
I haven't got.
Miles
Yeah, maybe. Okay. I was Just in T shirt guy against the next door app.
Ryan
Well, just like. I mean, you got parody accounts on there. It just doesn't seem like it's serving the purpose that it should get a.
Jared
Lawnmower real quick, though.
Ryan
It's kind of like Tumblr. Like, Tumblr turned, like, started out as this, you know, like this, like, social platform, and then it just turned into p.hub.com. you know, it just doesn't serve its original purpose anymore.
Tyler
I haven't seen anything provocative like the hub on next door, so you can ease pretty fast. One of my favorite things on nextdoor, though, is when they rip on businesses where they weren't satisfied with the. The service they received. Oh, yeah, There'll be people that just. You'll get sewered if you don't do it to a te.
Miles
So like, I hired Rick's lawn services, and they forgot to weed whack this one section that burn them to the ground.
Tyler
Yes.
Miles
There. Maybe you haven't been on there long enough, but I. The ring doorbell app. There's always someone about. Every. Every week, there's at least someone asking if people heard gunshots. And most people are like, that was just a lawnmower backfire.
Jared
You know, I heard it too.
Ryan
Yeah. My wife just slammed the door behind me.
Miles
Yeah, that was fireworks.
Jared
I'm just the dog.
Miles
Especially in Fargo, it's like, you know, that you heard a loud noise. Someone's gonna think it's gunshots. And about 99% of time, it's not gunshots.
Ryan
Yeah, exactly.
Miles
We. On the ring Doorbell app, someone sent. There's like, these homeless pe. I don't know if they're homeless or they're just tweakers or what. There was just like, clearly up somehow just walking around our neighborhood. And someone sent a photo on the ring doorbell app. Was like. Saw these guys milling around in the neighborhood. And then like, the guy. So, you know, in construction, they do those, like, things of hay with a netting around it that they put on.
Ryan
The edge of for washout or for.
Miles
Washout and all of that. Some guy was just taking a nap on one of those. And then later, which kind of freaked Dan out about. Someone took a photo. It was my backyard, and these two guys were just, like, laying in our grass just enjoying the day, which could.
Ryan
Be a compliment to you, but also.
Miles
Wow, this is plush. Plus than that. Than that. Than the hay log that I laid.
Ryan
On that was pre voles.
Jared
The haylock would be a good body pillow.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
Essentially, they were using it like that.
Ryan
It would get itchy though, real fast.
Miles
Yeah, it would. You got to make sure you're very well clothed.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
Or tweaked out or very calloused.
Ryan
So Jared, like, what is. Is it something that you're going to stick with long term or like do you after. After diving into it for however long you just not see it beneficial?
Jared
It's. It's turning into not being that beneficial. Yeah, it's gonna turn into like.
Miles
Okay, so expectation versus reality. What were you expecting to find on the next door app? Were you expecting like, hey folks, I. I ran out of sugar. Can anyone spare me a scoop? Is that what you thought you were walking into?
Jared
Yeah, and I didn't think be so paranoid with like people walking around in neighborhoods too and.
Miles
Yeah, right. Taking photos. Like, who the was this guy walking.
Tyler
Around like he's lived here for five years and he's just taking his dog for a walk.
Miles
Just on a walk. As you can see, his dog is on the leash right there.
Jared
People are very fearful. They think of the worst is happening on the next door app. Yeah, I thought it would be more of the sugar route, but yeah, not quite.
Miles
Hey guys. The kids are playing in the blowup pool today if anyone wants to stop by.
Jared
Exactly.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
A lot of missing pets.
Miles
See that. To me, that's a great. Use the next door app. Yeah, a lost and found is great.
Tyler
One lady that I just, I just read it. She lost her car seat. Mother in law was supposed to drop it at her house, put it on the front step. Mother in law said she did it, but the lady never got her on the ring doorbell. So she's pretty sure the mother in law put it at the wrong house. So she's looking for a missing car seat.
Miles
Now. Another great use of the next door.
Jared
I love, I love the details too. Yeah, my mother in law, like, nobody cares.
Miles
Someone I know. Yeah. What is the. What's the. Because porch pirates, right? That's what they call people stealing packages. There's not a lot that people can do about it.
Tyler
No.
Miles
You know, so what is the talks in there about that? Is it like, like, hey, we got to catch this guy if we see him around. Call the cops.
Tyler
Yeah, it's like people sharing photos like, caught this porch pirate. Anyone recognize him?
Jared
Yeah, it's walking around in this neighborhood, time, you know, identified.
Tyler
Keep your head on a swivel, folks.
Ryan
More so like a psa. If you see that guy walking around not ceiling packages, odds are he's probably looking for packages to steal.
Jared
Exactly. Yeah.
Miles
Yeah. I'm Trying to think of what's the best use the next door. I probably lost pets is good.
Tyler
I the only time I ever post on it. Way back in the day when I was at the news and I found out I was going to have a kid kid and I was making like minimum wage reporting of stories. I offered my mowing services up and I filled out the entire week in a matter of hours. People were like hell yeah.
Miles
Was it because you were so cheap?
Tyler
Yeah. And I didn't even put a price. I was just like hey, expecting my first kid, looking for some extra cash. Anyone need their lawn mowed?
Miles
Smart to use your kid.
Tyler
Yep. Yep.
Jared
It's a good idea.
Ryan
Yeah. Jared. Expecting your first kid even though you're.
Miles
You'Re not and then let's say you're like hey, we're not having kids. Kids just always just do the cycle of well you know, didn't work out.
Jared
Right.
Miles
But now we're expecting another kid and I need more cash. You can just go down the revolver.
Jared
You could always be expecting something.
Miles
Yeah.
Jared
You don't just say how far or when.
Miles
My wife is going back to school to chase her dream. Need some extra cash.
Tyler
Just just make it see if people are even reading it. But like my wife's going back to school to trace her dream of being a stay at home mom. Need some extra ca.
Ryan
Would also be a great place for, for businesses to swoop in and make things right for people that are pissed off on there. That is whether it's lawn mowing. I mean lawn mowing is probably the most common but yeah. Yeah.
Miles
Being like I'm Rick's Lawn services. Sorry we forgot to weed whack that. I'd like to do a month free of doing your stuff and I'll also mow your neighbor's lawn for free one time.
Ryan
Time. Yeah. Or even to combat combat porch pirates. If, if there's like a stay at home mom or somebody on, on a longer lunch break, you could just hire them to grab your packages from your porch and put them inside. That's got value to it.
Miles
That actually is not a bad idea. No, I, I, yeah, that's a good idea.
Jared
It's like a porch vigilante.
Ryan
That's got value to it. Yeah, pretty much.
Miles
Yeah. No, don't, don't be proactive. Be reactive. So have that person in a ghillie suit in the bushes and catch people red handed because if we prevent it then those people are going to find crime. Otherwise we need to clean up the streets.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
You know, and if we're just preventing them from doing crimes, they're just going to do maybe even more heinous crimes than just porch pirating.
Ryan
Well, and you could sell, you could sell homemade glitter bombs too. Yeah, you just have a, you have a garage full of glitter bomb boxes. And then if someone is a. Hey, I need a glitter bomb box box like by 8am tomorrow morning, boom. Gotcha. Front door. It is Amazon tape and everything.
Jared
Don't open it.
Ryan
Do not open it.
Jared
We could even write that on there. Do not open.
Ryan
Yeah, sign the waiver. Say if you do open this, I am not liable for you getting glitter bombed. Not a bad idea.
Jared
Because if you're right. Yeah. Do not open on a box. Porch pirates will really want to open it for sure. So that's great.
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah.
Tyler
What could you put on a box that would keep them from opening it? Like dangerous animal handle with care.
Ryan
Like glitter bomb inside.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
There is in this box that's whatever the, the colon guard or whatever the like where you actually send in a stool sample. Just put all your packages in one of those boxes. No one's stealing that.
Tyler
Yeah, Human fecal matter.
Ryan
Is there anyone on there complaining about people's dogs in their yard and them not picking it up?
Jared
Haven't gotten that far.
Miles
Gotta be.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
That is a hot topic at my grandparents campground right now. Oh, so there's the campground community where everybody has to have their dogs on a leash or on a lead at all times. But it's on a lake where other people live and the homeowners down the street, their dogs keep coming over and shitting on the campground's beach. And the campground folk are pissed off.
Miles
Okay, so they've, they've, they've solved the internal dog poop struggles and now they're facing external forces.
Tyler
Like we were there yesterday afternoon swimming and our dog was on his leash tied to the umbrella and some lady came out, she's like, whose dog is that? Whose dog is. I'm like, it's our dog. He's fine. He's on a leash.
Ryan
Like.
Tyler
Okay, good. Because if it was that from down the road.
Miles
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, oh, oh. He's on, he's on a leash. Good. It's like. Well, you can clearly see he's, he's.
Tyler
20 yards in front of you.
Miles
I think you just came up running to about the neighbor. I don't think this is about my dog at all.
Tyler
Yeah, my grandma's petting that dog, so that one's not a problem.
Jared
Setting the toad.
Tyler
Yeah, she was Fired up and I'm, like, in the water. I didn't have my glasses on, so I couldn't see.
Ryan
And like.
Tyler
Ah, it was just the most awkward situation.
Ryan
Well, maybe she didn't have her glasses on either, so she didn't see. Yeah, she could be. Yeah.
Miles
I was on the lake a few weeks ago and I saw one of the guys on the lake. They had a dog on a leash, but it was on, like, a track. So.
Ryan
Yeah. Like a clothesline type.
Miles
Clothesline type track is. The advantage is that that thing just doesn't get wrapped around stuff versus just putting a stake in the ground.
Ryan
Yeah, that. And then they just. They also just have more room to run. Like, they actually have a little bit of space where they can walk back and forth instead of. Of just being confined to, like, this one circumference of an area.
Miles
I know. It was kind of a vibe. I thought it was kind of sick.
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah. Because then, I don't know, they also can, like, run from one end to the other and. Well, it's also kind of a detriment because then they could. It yanks them back when they hit.
Tyler
The other side or they get enough momentum to snap that sucker.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
Gone.
Ryan
Yeah, that's. It's. Yeah, it's a sticky situation. I've never. I've never done before. I've seen it, though. Dogs will get, like. It'll hit the end and they'll backflip from the momentum. It's unbelievable. But, Tyler, I was gonna. I was gonna back to, like, the internal external of, like, the lake homes and the camp. Like, the. The people who live in the lake homes, they. They probably love that their dogs are at the campground, because I feel like the campground, like, they're. They're already pissed off that the campground's there anyway.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
Because it just is that much more traffic. So they're probably sent. They're probably training their dogs to go over there and shit.
Tyler
I wouldn't be surprised. And if you asked any of the campers there, that's 100% what they believe. They believe that those dogs are being sent over to the campground on a shit mission to fuck with their properties.
Jared
Code brown.
Miles
You know what would diffuse the situation? If one side offered free alcohol.
Tyler
Yeah. Yeah. The dog's shitting on the beach actively. And the owner comes over, hey, I'm so sorry. You want to be Beer. Game over. That lady is now happy again.
Miles
Oh, yeah, no, I'll for sure do a margarita.
Tyler
Oh, that's a beautiful dog.
Jared
Folds.
Miles
But, yeah, the People get. Because it's. I think, the reason why so much weird stuff happens on the Next Door app. Or like you said, you weren't expecting everyone to be so paranoid. Paranoid is because it's relating to their territory. You know what I mean? The gas. People get worked up about stuff going on in the world and all of that, but truly, unless you're like most people are, they will get mad about stuff and they kind of let it go. But as soon as it's. They feel like it is encroaching on their actual territory of where they live, that is when it's like, all gloves come off.
Ryan
Mm.
Jared
Much like dogs.
Miles
Yeah. Next Door app makes humans turn into dogs.
Jared
Very territorial.
Tyler
Defend your.
Ryan
Yeah, the Next Door app is. It's pretty much just like an HOA without the documentation.
Tyler
I was gonna say, Jerry, there's got. There.
Ryan
There's definitely a leader of your neighborhood on the Nextdoor app.
Tyler
If you keep up with the Nextdoor app and start to get into it, before we know it, he's gonna be applying to be on the HOA board.
Miles
Do you have turn into a nerd? Do you have an hoa?
Ryan
No.
Miles
Smart.
Tyler
Not yet, anyway.
Jared
Yeah, I'll start one. I'll be the cool hoa, though.
Miles
The. The best way to prevent an HO away is by starting one yourself.
Jared
Yes.
Miles
You know, then you have all the power and control.
Jared
Just make people sign stuff and then never do anything.
Miles
Yeah, don't try the cool guy.
Ryan
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You get a couple guys like, Miles, I'll sign hey there.
Jared
And say it's like a charity fundraiser, but they just sign up for an hoa.
Ryan
Yeah, yeah. And they have to pay you the dues. Their HOA dues.
Jared
No, we're cool. We don't charge anything.
Tyler
Jared just have a contract to even seem cooler pops over to people's houses every once. I'm like, hey, just let you know what you're doing with your lawn is technically not up to HOA code, but don't worry about it. All right? Yeah, I'll keep them off you. Don't worry.
Jared
Keep them off. You give me a free beer.
Miles
Yeah, yeah, Just start exploiting your neighbors for free booze.
Ryan
Have you been. Have you. Have you had a beer with a neighbor or anything? Or chit chatted about, you know, whose lawn's looking good, who's not.
Jared
Not quite. Not really. No.
Miles
That actually is a great move to make friends. Be like, hey, I'm just, like, collecting the dues for the hoa, but we don't have to do that like you're good. I just, I'll tell them that you paid. And you do that with every neighbor. And all of a sudden everyone thinks they're in the HOA doesn't exist. But they're also not getting scammed. But now you have good faith with every neighbor because you're like, don't worry about the fee we got you.
Tyler
And then every time somebody new moves to the neighborhood, you just like, hey, the people that lived here before you already paid for this year. So you're good.
Jared
Dude, just say your grandfather did.
Ryan
Yeah, we do like a pay it forward system around here. It. It just makes everyone happy.
Jared
People feel so special when their grandfather did.
Ryan
Yeah.
Jared
Yeah. I'll wear like a, A nice polo when I go up door too. Yeah, maybe like a neighborhood logo or something.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
You just gaslight everyone into thinking there's an HOA just for good faith and free beer.
Ryan
Well, because when they see you come to the door too, they're going to think you're selling them solar or something. And then when, you know, when, when they realize they, I don't have to pay HOA dudes, they're gonna be so happy. Their mood is going to be changed in an instant.
Jared
Could be a double edged sword though, because then they'll recommend HOAs to their friends.
Ryan
Correct. Yeah.
Jared
Yeah.
Tyler
That ain't.
Jared
Yeah, but not in my neighbor. Not in my neighborhood.
Ryan
And then they might, they might nominate your neighborhood for HOA of the year. And when they realize.
Miles
Well, no, it's like, you know, when companies, you know, and it's like when unlimited PTO was invented, people would like go and give talks about how that's great for their company.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
Jared can be the face for do lists HOAs.
Tyler
Yeah. Do list that you literally do less.
Miles
Yeah.
Jared
Do less with do. Yeah.
Ryan
Do. Yeah. Do less with do list HOAs.
Jared
Yeah, there you go.
Miles
And then all of a sudden you start a revolution that by becoming an hoa, you are eliminating HOA sabotage from within.
Tyler
Yeah. It could be a long play to show how they're completely irrelevant.
Ryan
And then you become the face of the next door app.
Jared
Yep.
Miles
Millions of dollars in endorsements.
Ryan
You know, you're wearing a polo to work every day, which I know you love doing.
Jared
Have an HOA conference at like the Ramada Inn once a year.
Ryan
Yep. Yep. Or the local park of everyone's local park park.
Tyler
It's. Jared does this and it just, for some reason just lights up. Neighborhood pride. Fire under everyone's asses. And he just has the nicest Neighborhood. Everyone's just like, God, that guy's so. I gotta.
Miles
He's so dedicated to the hoa. I think I'm dedicated. We're gonna start a neighborhood watch.
Tyler
Yeah. Yeah.
Miles
But because he's doing so much work, he doesn't have to be on it.
Jared
Yeah. Because he's so cool about it.
Miles
Yeah.
Tyler
All of a sudden, Jared has just created a utopia.
Miles
Accidental utopia by a duelist hoa.
Tyler
I think you can pull it off.
Miles
Where we do less.
Ryan
Well, I think a great starter, too, is just to, like, go on Amazon, get a yard of the week sign and just go put it in someone's yard.
Miles
That actually is a vibe. And just have no voting criteria. Just randomly do it.
Jared
And you get a free code at DQ once a week.
Tyler
It's waiting for you.
Ryan
Your first name.
Miles
Just say your first name.
Ryan
Yeah, first name would be at the counter.
Tyler
They'll.
Ryan
No. Yard of the. Just say yard of the week.
Jared
Yard of the week.
Ryan
Because everyone wants that yard of the week sign. If they see one person with it, they're going to do everything they can.
Miles
Yeah. You just got to start doing of the week things.
Ryan
Yeah, yeah. You know, plow Driveway of the week.
Miles
You got to have neighbor of the week. So whoever just gives you the most for free.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
So whatever guy drops a 30 rack at your door.
Tyler
Door, you know, hey, thanks for all the hard work, Prez.
Miles
Neighbor of Neighbor of the week. Whoever gives you the most scoops of sugar.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
Neighbor of the week.
Tyler
Now neighbor doesn't have to buy beer ever. Doesn't have to buy groceries ever. People are just bringing to his house to get the sign in their yard.
Miles
You know, Gardener of the week. Whoever gives you the most tomatoes and vegetables from their garden every week, it's Gardener of the week. A week.
Jared
Oh, yeah. It's like the green thumb of a word or something. Change it up a little and it's.
Tyler
Just a side with a big ass. Green. Thumbs up.
Jared
Thumbs up. Yeah, there you go.
Ryan
Sunshine of the week. Whoever has their. Whoever never draws their blinds in their house. Just make it look more welcoming.
Tyler
Jared, keep an eye on what's going on in there.
Miles
So. So why? Why? What's the advantage?
Ryan
I don't know. I'm just. Just random ass things.
Miles
Now it just sounds like Jared's a peeping Tom.
Tyler
Yeah, a little bit. Yeah, that's true.
Miles
Oh, yeah. You kept your blinds open all night. I know that for a fact because I was looking.
Jared
Do a mo. Do a Most Improved of the week. They just mow their lawn after, like, Three weeks.
Miles
And then you can have good kid of the week, too.
Ryan
Yeah, yeah, whatever.
Miles
Kid mows your lawn for free, gets good kid of the week.
Ryan
Beer fridge of the week. You could do beer fridge of the week, too. Mm. Because then everyone's gonna wanna show you their beer fridge to try and get the sign in their yard.
Jared
Yeah. It's like they're gonna have to offer you one thirstiest of the week or something.
Ryan
Yeah.
Miles
Could be a move.
Jared
I like this.
Tyler
I think you're gonna have a lot of fun, Jared.
Jared
I just need yard signs at Apollo. That's all I need.
Ryan
Yeah. And a pen. Pen's for the most part too. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Whenever you go walk into someone's door, you're just jotting. You're just jotting down. You're actually just drawing a picture. Picture. They think you're just so dialed in, though.
Jared
Taking notes, drawn houses.
Ryan
Yeah.
Jared
It's the only thing I can draw.
Miles
Square in a triangle.
Ryan
You rip it off at the end of the conversation. You just give it to them and, you know, you. There's an upcharge of 12 for a frame if you want to put this in there.
Miles
Well, is that it? Jared?
Jared
One fun fact.
Miles
All right, let's hear it.
Jared
If Wayne Gretzky never scored a goal, he'd still be the all time career points leader in the NHL.
Miles
You just had that many assists.
Tyler
Great one.
Ryan
Holy.
Miles
What is. Did you get a point for only. It's just goals and assists.
Ryan
Y.
Miles
Or what about the like, double assists where you pass to the person who.
Tyler
You get a point for that. Yep.
Jared
So like two away.
Miles
Got it. You still get. He had so many of those that he still. That's crazy.
Ryan
Yeah.
Jared
And Yarmir Jagger is second with 1921.
Tyler
Where's Ovi?
Ryan
Oh, Vashkin has the goals. Yeah, he has. Yep.
Tyler
Yeah. I just want to know where he's told.
Jared
I think he's around 1600 points. Wayne Gretzky's got 2,857 points.
Tyler
That's insane.
Miles
How long did he play?
Jared
I don't look that up.
Tyler
I would guess 15 to 20 years.
Ryan
Got it.
Miles
Yeah, that's first question.
Ryan
It's more of like an average per season type of deal.
Miles
Well, nice. That was a fun fact, Jared.
Ryan
Yeah.
Jared
I think I feel like we could do one. Wayne Gretzky's back. Back to week.
Tyler
Oh, we could.
Miles
Oh, you could feel like. I thought you were pitching.
Jared
Should know.
Miles
I was. I. I was thinking maybe like we do Wayne Gretzky fact week once a year. Yeah.
Ryan
You could do the Tiger woods facts once a week.
Miles
That is also true.
Jared
He played from 78 to 99.
Tyler
21 years a long time.
Ryan
That's over 100 points a year.
Miles
Nice.
Tyler
It's realistic. Over 80 games is.
Ryan
Yeah. Yeah.
Miles
Well. Is that it, Jared? Well, guys, thanks for tuning in to another episode of you Bet yout Radio. We'll see you in the next one.
Ryan
Oh, yeah, betcha.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
Yeah.
Jared
I traveled to the Midwest a couple times a year and was looking for spots that. That I have to check out. So far, I've checked off Holiday Culver's quick trip. As I've heard mentioned on YBR for reference, I am a Canadian 511, size 12. Also, bowels was right. Culver's root Beer, Florida bucks.
Miles
Let's go.
Ryan
That does.
Miles
You got to check out Wall Drug.
Tyler
Yeah, you do.
Miles
I. I think the. The Wall Drug, Rapid City, Sturgis, Deadwood tour.
Jared
Pretty good.
Ryan
Kind of.
Miles
Kind of a sick tour.
Tyler
There's a ton of tourist trap things on that stretch. Like you got the reptile gardens, the mystery caves for whatever.
Miles
Maybe just because I went there as a kid, for whatever reason, I want to get touristly trapped.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
In the stuff around that area.
Tyler
Yeah. It drives me nut drive through that and nobody wants to stop but me.
Miles
Yeah.
Tyler
And I got my family to stop at Wall Drug on the way home from Yellowstone, and that was the only time.
Miles
Also, I'm pretty sure they're working on Crazy Horse again.
Tyler
Hell yeah.
Jared
I think they always have, haven't they?
Miles
I thought they stopped for a while and that's what we were like. Crazy Horse awareness. You know, we were like, hey, we should. We should raise some money to get this thing going again. And maybe we did it.
Jared
I think they're just going really slow.
Tyler
Because it's volunteers only. Yeah.
Miles
Yeah. I think. I think we were. I think we were the linchpin in the whole thing.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
To get it going again brought it back to life.
Ryan
So if it's volunteers, like, who's doing the carving? I mean, I can't just volunteer. And they're like, all right, here's your pick.
Miles
You can remove rocks and.
Ryan
Okay.
Tyler
I'm sure there's like a lead volunteer in charge of design.
Ryan
Sure.
Tyler
You gotta go to the Dells. Wisconsin Dells.
Miles
Wisconsin Dells. In reality, I'd go to the north shore of Lake Superior.
Ryan
Duluth.
Miles
That's Duluth and up.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
Great area. Check out the lighthouses for one good party weekend. You got to go to Lake of the Ozarks, the Vegas of the Midwest.
Ryan
That's a great time. You gotta go to. You gotta. You gotta go to Lincoln, Nebraska. It's a top 10 city in the United States. Just there's. I mean nothing.
Jared
Corn Oscars game would be great.
Ryan
Corn Oscar is great. Game is awesome. Nothing particular in Lincoln. Just to Lincoln.
Miles
Yeah. I feel like going to a college football game across the board is pretty fun.
Ryan
Yeah.
Jared
Any Big ten? Really?
Miles
Yeah. Big ten is kind of sick. Yeah. You could also check out some North Dakota interpretive centers as well. You also could make the drive from Fargo to Bismar and see the. The hill of Bismarck.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
The riverboat.
Tyler
Quite literally. The highlight on that drive is the buffalo in Jamestown.
Ryan
Yeah.
Jared
And a little past Bismarck, you got the Salem Sioux. The big cow.
Ryan
Yep. And then keep going. You. There's a big pheasant on the side of the. The road, isn't there?
Jared
Well, then steel. There's a world's largest sandhill crane.
Ryan
Yeah.
Tyler
Nice.
Ryan
Yeah. I think Rich. I don't know if it's Richard Tin. I don't remember. Rich. It's kind of actually cool to go like to cross a time zone like on a road. Richard is where the time zone goes to Mountain time.
Jared
Kind of a vibe.
Ryan
Straight down the intersection. It is worth.
Miles
Check Drive.
Ryan
Yep.
Jared
From Fargo. The Fargo wood chipper. That's a cool thing to look at.
Tyler
Yeah.
Miles
It's in the Fargo community Center or whatever.
Tyler
Which is. Other people would call it an interpretive center.
Miles
Is it an interpretive center?
Ryan
Yeah. I don't even know if they have interpreters there. But it's an interpreter.
Miles
Well, no, it's just a place that you get to interpret. Interpret things. There's you. There's no interpreter. You are in doing the interpreter. You are the interpreter.
Ryan
I know.
Tyler
What's the name of that town on 200 nor in north north Dakota that's like the geographical center. Rugby, rugby, Rugby, rugby geographical center. They have a monument in a parking lot next to an anytime fitness in a Mexican restaurant.
Ryan
Yep. Yep.
Tyler
Yeah.
Jared
Niffle soup.
Ryan
Got it.
Tyler
Yeah.
Ryan
If you like fish, and I mean devil, you make a trip to Devil's Lake. You'll never. You'll never regret that.
Tyler
Actually a really cool thing. Stump Lake, which is feeds off of Devil's Lake. It flooded and you can fish over. It's super clear. You can just see fully submerged homes underneath you as you fish. Because it like flooded people's homes out wild. It's cool.
Miles
A lot of good structural for him to swim around.
Ryan
Yeah. A lot of good rock beds and.
Tyler
And where are you fishing? This weekend I think I'm gonna go over the. Olson's house.
Ryan
Yeah, yeah. Minnewak and Flats. My buddy's from Tall. Now you can go see my buddy.
Miles
Could be. Could be a great place to scuba. Maybe there's some safes down there.
Tyler
They find a painting in a safe like the Titanic.
Miles
Yeah.
Ryan
Get. I think they have a good scuba certification in Fargo.
Miles
Might be some good emeralds down there. There in a safe.
Jared
I don't know. The.
Tyler
I think they're just making this up.
Miles
What do you mean?
Jared
I think there's a strip club in Devil's Lake, too. Right.
Tyler
Right underneath.
Miles
Underneath the water.
Ryan
Well, the one got. The one got shut down.
Miles
Stripper poles. A lot of good structure for fish to swim around.
Ryan
Yeah, there was a Smell fishy in there. There was one highway, two driving into Devil's Lake, but I think shut down because someone got shot.
Miles
But then there's one downtime scene.
Ryan
There's one downtown called Lotus.
Miles
A lot of what just.
Ryan
It's just called Lotta.
Miles
I know, but a lot of what.
Ryan
A lot of pussy. My buddy almost got. He, like, tried to pick a fight with some guy outside a lot of us.
Jared
Did he win?
Ryan
It never. It manifested anything, thank God. Yeah.
Tyler
Did somebody throw dice at the back of his head or.
Ryan
