Jet fuel prices have doubled year to date. Jet fuel, the price of a gallon has doubled.

CNBC has spoken with the CEO of just about every major airline in the past several weeks. Everyone's raising ticket prices. Here's Southwest CEO Bob Jordan on CNBC explaining the concept of recovering jet fuel cost from you.

Fuel is certainly a factor. It's really, you know, impacting the results. But it's a distraction. There's nothing we can do about it. And if you think about recovery from fuel, there's been a lot of discussion of fares and how much can we recover. The fare environment is really constructive. I mean, certainly fares are moving right now,

constructive and moving. That means ticket prices are going up. And United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby told CNBC they're going to be raising airfares for the rest of this year.

We are passing through right now about 40 to 50% of the increase in fuel. That's faster than I can ever remember in my career. And we expect to get to 100% by the end of year.

And CEOs are saying passengers are paying these higher fares. Demand has been strong for now. Plus, airlines are reducing routes and plane sizes. It's called capacity control.
