About this miraculous surgery, medical advancement that they have discovered to cure certain forms of blindness by basically extracting a tooth and putting it in your eye?

[Zayn]

What? What?

[Jared]

This is bananas. Okay, so there was a guy, I believe he's in England, his name's Brent Chapman. He has been blind in his eye for about 15 years. And this is a condition where, you know, your, your lens basically in your eye, if it becomes opaque, it blocks the retina from seeing. So they figured out if you extract a tooth out of your mouth and then you cut that bone of the tooth and make a little hole within the tooth of the bone, then you have to put that bone into your cheek, the tooth. And then you let that tooth sit in your cheek for about six months. It will then the body accepts the tooth, will then start growing a lens over the tooth. Then you extract the tooth from your cheek, put it in your eye and you can see it.

[Zayn]

How do they come up with this?

[Heath]

Who had that thought?

[Jared]

It's incredible. I, I also just can't believe that a bone can then live in your eye and now operate as a lens.

[Zayn]

This has been, this has been like tested and proven. Like they got it done.

[Jared]

The guy can see now and I believe another woman has had it done. It just what some people thought it was fake news, but it is real. So. Yeah, I mean, this is a little video to give. So that's what they're extracting from the tooth, a little circular hole and that's the eye where it has become opaque and it's, I guess your, your lens.

[Zayn]

Yeah.

[Jared]

And as you can see, that blocks light from the retina. So you don't have, you have basically a blocked lens. And then now you put the bone into the cheek.

[Zayn]

Oh, it's like under your eye. Okay.

[Jared]

And as it's in the cheek, it starts growing and getting cells and blood vessels that will allow it to now live if in your eye. What? So now you have a tooth in your eye and you.

[Zayn]

Oh, so it's. So does your eye just look different now?

[Heath]

Oh, the eye, you have that square bone looking thing.

[Jared]

Yeah, the whole eye looks like just a bloody, like vessel. It's not the most gorgeous looking.

[Zayn]

You know what I think, I think that's better. That's better than not being able to see.

[Jared]

Yeah. So. And I don't know if they could.

[Zayn]

Come up with a lens that can, could like cover, like help make it look.

[Jared]

Yeah, hopefully. Yeah, just add a little bit of white, but that's how it looks like.

[Zayn]

That's because that does. That definitely looks a little.

[Jared]

You can see a little scary.

[Heath]

Okay, Terminator, but.

[Zayn]

Exactly. But there is a way I. They're gonna come up with a way you can put a lens over that easy.

[Heath]

That's crazy. We figured out that we can do that before just swapping an actual eyeball, right?

[Zayn]

Yeah, like. Like, how the hell can you not just swap an eyeball?

[Jared]

Yeah. If we're able to like, swap anything. You can do heart transplants and connect veins, all arteries, all of that all together. And then we. But still can't really figure out a proper eye transplant. But I don't know, is it.

[Zayn]

They can't figure it out or there's just no possible way because of something with the.

[Heath]

There's something about like the optic nerve that can't be like just like rejects.

[Zayn]

It or it just doesn't.

[Jared]

I think just like once an eyeball, like, because it's such a. Such a delicate environment of light coming in and there's so much like. Yeah, explain it. It's such a delicate organ of what's happening in there.

[Zayn]

Yeah.

[Jared]

Once you remove it, it in a way becomes borderline useless.

[Zayn]

So they've been able to figure out when. When was this posted or when did they find it?

[Jared]

Came up on my feed like a week ago. So. Oh, maybe it's been last year and finally it's 2024. Sure. But I think a guy recently just got it done as well. But how is it.

[Zayn]

How's more people not talking about this?

[Heath]

I know that is like, unbelievable.

But it's not a cure for all blindness. It's for people whose lens have become opaque and they can no longer see through the lens.

Is that like a cataract?

[Jared]

Kind of pretty much similar, but I think cataracts is like an actual disease of the eye, but pretty crazy.

[Zayn]

Is that one of the main. The main. Main blindness that people have? That people are blind?

[Jared]

Different forms.

[Zayn]

I know there's different people.

[Jared]

Blindness later in life. Some people are born blind. I don't know. It's. It's a complex world.

[Zayn]

Damn. I mean, at least they're able to figure out one of the blindness. Like. Yeah, that's insane. That's amazing.

[Jared]

Like, oh my gosh, guys, I'm about to see soon, but I have the tooth in my cheek. Yeah. Like, even if I heard someone explaining this to me that they were getting this incredible.

[Zayn]

Yeah.

[Jared]

It would be like, what.

[Zayn]

But you know what? Even like, just like if they have to wear just glasses, like, just like you can fucking see. I'D be like, I'd be so happy to. I could see. I'll wear glasses anywhere. I don't give a fuck.

Take my two front teeth, baby.

Yeah, yeah, it has to be. Yeah, it has to be.

They better cover the surgery though to replace me with a good veneer. It's like imagine you just have a missing tooth. I can see again, get the straw going through.

But yeah, they're not, but you're not allowed to put another tooth there because it like fucks up. So you're just like, you have to suffer with. Of the toothless.

[Heath]

I heard somebody explaining, you know, how people will ask blind people, like, do you just see darkness? Like, is it just black all the time? And they were saying it's the equivalent of asking somebody like, what do you see out of your elbow?

[Jared]

Right.

[Heath]

They like it is it. It is so non existent that you can't even explain.

[Zayn]

That's so. That's insane to me. I get, I get asking somebody who's been blind all their life that question because it's like they don't even understand what that means to look at, like see through your eye. But someone who went blind, I, I just don't understand how. There's just that, that's the example that you, it's like seeing through your elbows, like. But you could. You, you, you saw, you've seen before. So what is it now? You know what I mean?

[Heath]

So interesting.

[Jared]

But they, yeah, but they see, I guess the world through like a whole different lens though. Like the way they see music is probably like much deeper than the way we see it. Probably even a little bit more beautiful because like their whole imagination gets to like create what it is.

[Zayn]

I've seen a lot like I've seen a ton of videos from. What's her name? Molly Burke.

[Jared]

Oh yeah.

[Zayn]

Explains different ways that she lives, like being blind and like how she just sounded. It's so incredible.

Yeah, I know people say, would you rather be deaf or blind? I mean it's pretty, like it's tough. I would, I guess I would rather be blind but like if I were.

To choose one, I would say I'd rather be deaf.

[Jared]

Yeah, you'd rather be deaf but deaf with like proper education and resources. It's really sad the amount of people who are born deaf but like live in a place where maybe their parents don't have access to even learn or teach them asl.

No one's like getting them to communicate the world and you just become like a prisoner in your own head.

Because no one's there to help.

It's so interesting. My. My uncle's deaf, so when I was younger, he would always ask my dad to borrow CDs. And I remember just sitting there being like, is he faking this? Yeah.

I remember finally asking my dad. I was like, what is.

He plays it in his car at absolute max volume to feel the vibration. The vibration.

Does Drew even do like proper stand up too? Like, I think he's more of like a sketch based comedian and like I guess when you book that big of.

I think the only thing I've experienced which was like I was. There was Frank Ocean.

That one. I just like, I saw the. The amount of people that were so upset. I was like, oh, wow. I've never experienced this before at a concert.

Yeah, I felt bad for the people who came Far away.

Yeah. Because Frank Ocean hasn't performed in how long. People were like flying in for just that set. And they will be for Justin Bieber too, so I really hope he makes it.

I remember Lil Sammy. I like the way you look. Okay. Me, I saw him at the all that festival in probably 1999. Poor kid was working so hard. I think he was probably 9, 10 years old. He. Little Sammy. Well, that's how.

[Zayn]

Yeah.

But as a kid, Little Sammy. Never heard of him at all that concert. He dropped the mic in the middle of the performance, was like, I'm so done with this. How old was he stormed off stage. Probably nine, 10 years old.

And he did finish his. He didn't finish his set. And my mom was like, oh, boy, that little Sammy. I'm worried about him.

[Zayn]

Did not. But I've always wanted to know what happened to him that day. If I ever saw Lil Sammy, I'd be like that. All that show.

[Zayn]

I would honestly not be like, you know what? I'm still listening to you, man.

Or the thing is the fact that she's like, I'm about to. I don't think she was like drunk or anything. I don't think it had anything to do with like, what she.

I'm just like, lack of being hydrated. You're on the road all the time. You're not eating enough.

I was reading comments. They were saying that her record label is like a big, big one. And they're known for like over really overworking them. Yeah. So she could be like, seriously?

Did you go with your dad?

I went with my brother. Your brother? Yeah. Yeah. Honestly, incredible album. It's probably my favorite Guns and Roses album. That and obviously Appetite, but sounds like a.

A cement. Sabrina Carpenter album, Chinese Democracy. Appetite.

[Heath]

Oh, Appetite. He came out an hour late and everybody was starting to get, like, really pissed. But, like, that's nothing compared to what Lil Wayne just did.

[Jared]

It was 7 and he came on at 11. 11.

[Zayn]

What? That's 11 is usually when it ends.

But yeah. Dude, they were unbelievable. And now, like, looking at all these old rock stars, I'm like, I mean.

They were partying hard. How? I don't even know. I don't even understand how they were even doing their sets half the time.

Isn't Lauryn Hill known to be, like, the worst about arriving on stage? You know Lauryn Hill, she was, I think, in, like, the Fugees.

You know that band is called the Fugees?

[Jared]

Yeah. What's that song? Killing Me Softly with his songs. She is notorious for showing up, like, at midnight and everyone's, like, gone, like, and no one's there anymore. Isn't it Lauryn Hill who's, like, really bad, like, being late to concerts? I think it's her maybe. Yes. She has a long standing reputation of being late to concerts. She attributes to production delays, logistical issues.

[Zayn]

That's what. Just have her start two hours before the actual time.

[Jared]

Just like, after you've done it, like, multiple times, you think, like, get out on stage. Who is in the green room? Like, Lord, Lauren. Yeah, you gotta go.

[Zayn]

She's just like, what do you think it is? You think?

[Jared]

She's just like, I don't know. Well, you. You immediately want to think it's like, substance abuse or you're so drunk, you can't go.

[Zayn]

Like, for me, for, like, if it was me, right? It would not be, like, substance abuse. It would not be because I'm too, like, for me, it would be like, I'm, like, really nervous. I need, like, a couple More minutes or I need a couple. I need 30 minutes or something. These artists have to have, like. I feel like a lot of them have exactly that. They're just, like, scared. Like, they just can't do it, or they're gonna feel. Have a panic attack. But then again, there's, like, medication for that, so.

[Jared]

In 2016, Hill performed for. After arriving two hours late, she performed for less than 40 minutes before her set was cut off due to a venue curfew. And at the time, she explained she didn't care, but rather that she needed to align her energy for her performance. Okay, so she's just, like, meditating, burning incense, just, like, getting her chakras aligned. Oh, come on. And then in 2023, Hill told the audience they should be thankful she made it to the stage with disappointment by some fans who felt it disrespectful. Oh, Lauren, Jesus, get it together.

Like, one person, they'll piss off so much where they just leave for the rest of the night. They get so upset, which they have every right to, but they. The whole show was just done. How do you feel about that?

I say, well, warning. Yeah, it happens again. You're more justified.

[Zayn]

Yeah. So just like, whoever you're next to that's thinking about throwing something, I would highly encourage them not to throw something, because I will have to.

[Jared]

And if it's becoming an issue, like, all the little, you know, interstitials that are played before a show, like explaining where exits are, they should say, like, no throwing objects on stage or otherwise, the concert will end. Like, I think they. The production needs to do a bit better about reminding people. But, yeah, if I was an artist, it depends. We don't know what their lives are like. Yeah, but if I got hit with, like, one bracelet, I'd be like, guys, please don't throw.

[Zayn]
