I think this was. I think it was an old dude. Maybe I'm getting two videos and combining together, but he was watching heated rivalry. When it got to just one of the scenes, he. You see him, like, fast forward on the flare.

But a part of me feels like that was. You know how it's. I. I feel like that was staged too.

Yeah, I am glad to. I've never been. I've never wanted to be More back in the States, just in my own bed in general, in my entire life. So if you actually. You guys don't know, because I didn't post anything when I was there, but I went to you because you didn't go out and go out. I went to. I was in Brazil for the past, like, like, seven days.

And, you know, I was very, very excited. This is one of those places that I've always wanted to go, and I knew it was going to happen. And then it finally happened. I was like, oh, shit. And we're going to Rio de Janeiro, too, which is the place that I want to go in Brazil. I was like, yeah, opportunity. I'm gonna take it. I'm gonna go. I'm really like, I just can't wait to explore everything. And also, one of my best friends, Ella, she's from Brazil. She was born there, and she talks about it all the time. So I was like, really?

She's from Brazil.

She's Portuguese. Yeah. She.

Whenever I say Ella, like, in my head, first Ella pops up is her. So I need to reiterate.

Totally understand. I was like, I don't know Ella Priya that well.

We've talked about Ella quite a few times on the show. She was. She was one of, like, my friends that, like, we'd gone to, like, trouble with all those stories. That's her. I finally got to go. So I, like, I remember, like, I flew in. I text her. I'm like, oh, my God, guess where I am. She was so excited, giving me all these recommendations, blah, blah. This was like, I. We flew in day one. It was fucking pouring the worst weather.

We. Because we checked the weather app before, but we were told, like, hey, it's like, Florida. It goes in now. I'm like, okay. Like, I. I get Florida. Florida. You get really shitty weather, and then it bounces back, and then you get, like, really hot weather. Weather with the really beautiful weather. I'm like, all right. And we fly in, we walk through the customs, and she's like, you're here for work or vacation. We're here for vacation. She's like, you would hear on a very, very bad week. I was like, I know it's raining, but, like, it's. She's like, no, it's raining.

Oh, no.

Oh, we're screwed. We're screwed. This is gonna suck. Because, like, everything. Everything's outside. Like, you don't do anything inside.

And I was like, oh, my God, this is going to Suck, whatever. Okay. We'll make the most out of it. Right? And so we get there. It's. It's really, really bad weather. You don't see a lick of sunlight.

Is it hot and rainy?

It's humid and rainy. It was humid, but it wasn't as humid as like Florida.

[Matt]

So it was like, it wasn't bad. We get to our, we get to our villa. Beautiful. Villa, beautiful, beautiful. We were really excited. We, we stay in for the night, obviously wake up and we decide, oh, we're going to go check out the, the favelas or the favela. And if the favela is, it's the area. Can you, can you fact check this? I don't want to get it wrong. And I will get it wrong, trust me.

Even with fact check.

Even, even after the fact check. It's a, it's a neighborhood settlement in Brazil, home to over 8%, 8% of the country's population.

[Matt]

It's not the best, like, structural neighborhood. I mean, there are like some sh.

[Zayn]

Yeah, it's very low come. It's low income communities. And it's, it's a lot, A lot of people recognize this area in like movies and show a lot of. Yeah, a lot of. A lot of films will show this area when they're filming in Brazil just because it like looks insane. And it was. And I remember when we were there, it was like, I know they're like low income places, but it was still beautiful the way that they're able to like fit everything and make everything work. And when you're walking through these places, the, the wires that are giving all like the energy power too, because they're

kind of like stealing the power to power the favelas.

[Zayn]

It's a free for all. Yeah, it's a free for all.

[Matt]

It is.

[Zayn]

This is, this is even the worst of it. These wires. All right, now imagine you're walking through the neighborhoods, right? Like through the little streets they're hanging down low where you have to like live.

[Heath]

Electric wires just kind of.

[Zayn]

Yeah. And dude, it was raining too. And still they were being powdered. I'm like, this is the most insane thing I've ever seen. This is everywhere. And everybody has such a different lifestyle in there. It's, it's, it was wild.

[Matt]

Yeah.

[Zayn]

Like, it was like this everywhere. It was insane. And you can't just go anywhere in these favelas. Like, we were with a tour guide and he could.

[Matt]

Yeah, yeah.

[Zayn]

And he obviously, he like, knows everywhere, knows the in and outs and there's like, a lot of the area is off limits to Taurus because they're like. It's like, gang.

[Matt]

Yeah, it's quite dangerous. Very deep into the football dangerous.

[Zayn]

We'd go in there, and then he'll turn around, be like, all right, everybody put your phone phones down. Yeah, no phones. Lock up your electronics. If you have zippers in your pocket, make sure zippers are up. It's just like. Because they. They. These gangs know that tourists come in, so they won't, like, really with us. But then also, like, if you're in the wrong area, you will get robbed. You will get, like, you know.

[Matt]

Yeah, because there's just, like, dead ends and, like, nooks and crannies and alleys all throughout that. It's not the most, like, organized street system to go through. Yeah.

[Zayn]

So we would go. We would go through, like, approved areas through these favelas, and we have to. We wanted to make our way to the top because we wanted to be able to see all of the fellows from the top. Right. And the higher you go, the. The more low income it is, actually. Which is. Which is weird because when you think when you go higher up in the hills, the more expensive the houses get.

[Heath]

Yeah. You get, like, the view, right?

[Zayn]

You get the view. You get the. But in the favelas, the higher you go up, the cheaper the rent is, because you have to make your way all the way up there whenever you go grocery.

[Heath]

So they. They kind of see it as, like a convenience thing. Like, you're. If you're at the bottom, it's easier in, like, quicker.

[Zayn]

Exactly. More convenient when you're bringing beds up there. When you're bringing furniture up there, if you have a spot up there, you have to bring that up yourself. Like, it is, like, all the way up there, and it is steep. Heath. It's like Positano. Remember?

Is the. Yeah. Is the. Is the. Is it mostly walking, or is it big enough for, like, cars to, like, drive?

[Zayn]

So they get up. They have a. They have this whole little area where you could take motorbikes. They'll take you up there. It's like a taxi system of these more.

People working up there that need to get up there, that need to tour us, anything. And it was pouring, right. So we were going up on these motorbikes all the way up.

Slippery, dude.

It was sketchy, but, dude, you felt so safe at the same time, because these guys, they do this every day.

They know what they're doing.

Zoom in up there on the hills and it was. It was an experience. It was kind of a vibe.

Yeah, just kind of like straight out of, like, a Bond film completely. Did they have, like, protection on them? Like they have guns or weapons or

anything to, like, the tour guide? Yeah, no, but we did have security on it, so that's, like, a separate thing that we. That we hired.

We hired two security guards. One security guard was on. Was on us, and the other security guard was at the house, constantly there at all times.

So I know that there's like a rule when you travel to other countries, especially like if you're like outside of the country because our bodies just cannot handle it.

Water, right. Yes. And I was really aware that the whole time I was drinking water bottles, I was really focused on that. I just wasn't thinking. This day I was very excited. I wanted to try out everything. I was like, I want to dive deep into the culture. I wanna, I just wanna. I wanna just indulge. Right? So we stopped by this market in the favela and it's like, it's not right, it's not deep in, but it's like on the streets, on like the main street of the favela. So like the markets were like, you know, they looked good they look nice. So we go there. I'm. I'm starving, right? I'm hungry, and I'm like, ooh, instead of eating junk, Zane, why don't you eat a little bit of Fresh Market fruit, right? Like, what's the worst that could happen?

I have a bite. I was like, I'm gonna wait to have right after.

Exactly. So they have us with, like, these kids, and these kids are teaching us how to do different tricks. Some people are, like, going head to head with these kids. These kids are. These kids are insane here.

Yeah, no, they went from. They went from, like 5 years old to about, like, to about, like 10 years old from weapons. Like, I give a lot of respect to these kids and, like, they could, they could protect themselves for sure in a time they need to. But yeah, we did that. It was really fun. We get back and I, I'm sitting There. And I'm like, oh, guys, I don't feel good. And I immediately just ran up to my room, right? And I'm. I get into bed and I'm like, started hurling like, oh, my God.

It's coming out of every hole. It's just, I'm puking, I'm pissing out of my ass and it won't stop. It won't stop. And the pain is getting worse and worse. And I just remember it was like for 36 hours straight.

I could not leave my. I locked my room. I could not leave there. I was sweating. A fever broke out.

We were eating the same thing. The only thing that I ate I would put in my body that was outside was the, was the. I. I went to a gym the day before and it was like they are like equinox in their high end area in Brazil. And I was told by the staff that it was filtered water and I. That was the only thing I was drinking that nobody else but like, I'm pretty sure that it was filtered. Yeah, you know what I mean? Because I'm sure they have a ton of people coming in. I, I wouldn't expect. I feel like it'd be a big problem if that water was getting people

sick for like a high end tourist gym.

Exactly. Because I'm sure I'm not the only tourist that's, like, working out in that gym. So I was like, it can't be that. And I. I. When I hit up Ella after the whole thing, when I hit her up, I was like, hey. I told her the few things that I had, and I gave her the name of the gym, and she was like, zayn, it was definitely the fruit at the Feather. You. You. You're. You're not supposed to eat that and not wash. I was like, okay. It was definitely that. It was that we. I got unlucky, Remember? Remember I told you my whole constipation thing?

That I had 3x. That when I thought, like, it was my time, it was that I knew food poison was not gonna kill me. But the feet, the pain. But it felt like body. It was so bad. And I remember that whole day I was out. The next two days were our, like, big nights that we had in Brazil that we planned for. I couldn't make. I couldn't make.

Like, it really takes out of you. It was like. It was wild. And I remember it got really beautiful on Saturday, and I was missing all the fucking beautiful days, too. Just stuck in bed. And it was crazy because my last trip was to the Philippines, and I was sick the whole time, too.

Yeah. Somebody was out for. Out to get me. God was playing a bad prank on me. I was like, this sucks. I just. I flew out to get sick. I had to go to the hospital because I needed to. I was so dehydrated that I needed to. I needed iv. So I went to the hospital, and I. I. They pumped me up with, like, Zofran and fucking all this shit, just. And I was. Dude, I was so scared of putting anything in my body at that point. Like, we. There was a chef at the house that was making us food, and, you know, she was cooking with like, bottled water and all that? And I was just so afraid. I was like, guys, I just want to go home. Like, I don't want to eat anything here, please. And, like, I. I just. Because I looked it up, I was like, can you get food poisoning twice in a row? Like, I thought it was like, you know, when you get sick, you can't get sick twice.

His information, and they just would not let him in. And we're. And we. Nobody could leave or you wouldn't get back in. They have a policy if you leave, you can't get back in. And we were like, okay, we gotta go. And then he's like, no, I'm gonna make this work. And he just kept fighting with them. And apparently they close. They close the venue if you're not there in time. Like the venue just is closed. And we were worried because John was just stuck out there. Damn. And they were not letting him in it.

So I think his face just likes to morph at different times because he also got stopped at the airport. The airport when we were flying back. It wasn't recognizing his face.

I've been nervous because Patricia and I were going to China in, like, a few days, and just because there's all this, like, global conflict, you're going to a whole different, like, country that operates under a whole different system. I've been, like, nervous having to keep up with the news and stuff, but. But there's. Apparently China's, like, been staying out of it, so we're all fine. And actually, when you're in China, it's actually really, really safe. I've had, like, friends there who are like, dude, you're fine. Stuff does not go down in China.

Like, visit. Like, when they're visiting there or people

[Matt]

that live there, they live there. My friends who live there.

[Zayn]

But I've just been, like, so anxious about it because you need a visa to go to China if you're staying there for longer than 10 days, but they have a way of not having a visa. But you have to come from America, but you have to leave China and go to a different country. You cannot come back to America. Does that make sense?

Yeah, but. Yeah, but, like, why?

[Matt]

I know it's a really weird, like, loophole, but just. It's frustrating because, like, the Delta app and everything's like, you need a visa, but they don't understand that we're doing this alternate way of going there. Yeah.

Oh, you're going to China. I forgot.

Yes, we're going to China. We're going Shanghai and Beijing, and then we're going to Seoul for just one night.

And then coming back to China before.

[Matt]

No, I've never been.

With all that Mandarin you've been learning,

you've never been to China because vine was popping off right after college. I thought I was gonna go, and then I had to get a big boy job and just. It never happened for me.

You know what vine did really up our plants for a little bit. All of our little plans that we had, you know, it's.

No, I just haven't and. Because then it was like I wanted to go right before COVID and then covet happened and then it was just like these years of it. Not really.

Maybe if you're like a citizen, it's a little different, but if you're like a proper tourist who needs to have like connection back to your home country, I think you're a little lacks on it.

Okay, so. But I am really pumped for it. But just that visa thing, it's just been making me anxious because you have to. Right. When you get to the gate agent, you have to show everywhere you're staying. They have to calculate the hours, make sure you're like satisfying it. And it's just like I'm just so nervous if God forbid, it doesn't meet the requirement though. I've double checked it. I've posted it like on Reddits where people are discussing all of this. It's just.

Like just to. Just to kind of figure it out. What are the few places that you're excited to go or do do Shanghai and Beijing.

The hanging train, they have like a hanging that's in Chongqing. Like the, the one that like goes through a building. Yeah, that's. That's another city. People always say, like, dude, 10 days isn't even enough to see what China is. And you're going to want to continue to go back, but this just feels like we're doing a classic. Sick. Seeing all the. Yeah.

Actually, pretty often I only use ways when I try. I need to figure out that next day what time I should leave for something. That's the only you can do that.

Waze is great for rush hour in just LA where you just don't want to get on the highway and you want to find a quick way to navigate the hills.

I learned something interesting because it was St Patrick's Day and I was hanging out with just some Irish people. They were saying that when you turn a hundred in Ireland, you get like a bonus from the government that's basically like US$2,700. That's funny. You know, at work when you get a bonus, hey, you did good. It's like, it's like the world giving you a bonus. And it's like you made it to 100. Good job. Like your, your, your lifestyle has brought you to 100 years old. Here's money. How much did they give you? Oh, that's it?

I'd want a lot more than that if I reached a hundred. Well, I mean, you don't have much time to spend that either.

It's crazy that your grandma right now. Now is pretty much me. Two more times everything I just lived in my life. Times it by two. That's insane. That's insane. Insane. Insane. Insane.

And hopefully you're surrounded by tons of people looking out after you. That's like, your offspring and your family. Family of the life you've created. But just knowing that your friends are all gone, that would just make me so sad.

That is such a crazy thing to think about. Like, in your lifetime, you're either people are going to either be dealing with you gone, or you're gonna be dealing with them gone. And that's sad.

Her sister lived to be 112. Whoa. Yeah. Has she moved at all? Did she, like, leave town or, like, is she someone who's, like, always lived in Kentucky? Because sometimes, like, people who've lived 100 are people who, like, have just been in the same spot or the same area.

Always lived in Kentucky. Like, we drive around and she's like,

that's where I went to school, you

know, that's where I got, like, my

[Matt]

first communion and stuff. She's very religious, and so she's, like, really holding on to that fact.

And I think. I think that's what's keeping her going. Damn. I think I'd be super religious, too. When I was getting close to the end, like, you know what?
