Ryan Seacrest
It is Ryan Seacrest here. There was a recent social media trend which consisted of flying on a plane with no music, no movies, no entertainment.
Heath
But a better trend would be going.

Heath, your facial hair looks really good.
Heath
Wait, really?
Ryan Seacrest
It looks great. No, what Stop the mustache but like the light scruff around your beard.
Zane
That's good.
Heath
Thank you.
Ryan Seacrest
You look at defined as well. Good job.
Heath
Like I'm trying to.
Zane
Is it the bone mallow?
Heath
The bone mallow?
Zane
What is it?
Heath
We're trying to Bone marrow beef tallow.
Zane
What is. What is bone hollow? Is that not even bone marrow?
Heath
Bone marrow is inside of the bone.
Ryan Seacrest
But beef tallow in a way is.
Zane
Like she's making sure that and I'm safe.
Ryan Seacrest
We have firefighter mommy. Colin.
Zane
Oh yeah, I've been, she's been giving me updates.
Ryan Seacrest
Do you think if she was here she would have gone out to like volunteer 100?
Zane
She would. If they didn't surgery, they, they encourage, they encourage her. They. I think they're encouraging any firefighters out here to like, like help.
Heath
A lot of, a lot of people have been coming out to help. We saw like Canada's team's Canadian planes.
Mariah
Flying over the house. It gave me chills. Yeah, chills. But you know what I will say this is, it's making me feel good how this is the most like united I've felt with everybody. Like everybody's helping everybody. People are coming in from all over just to help. Which is really nice.
Zane
Yeah.
Mariah
But it should really be like that 24 7.
Ryan Seacrest
True. Exactly. Relax Community. Because there's so many transplants who move here and I feel like there's just never like a solid backbone of like everyone being on the same page, looking out for one another and being united.
Heath
So nice. Especially like checking all the apps and stuff. We've been super active on like the neighbors app and everything and just seeing everybody like who needs help. We're here. We're here.
Zane
Like never been so active. And citizens, like people talk about citizens app all the time. Never went on it. It decided to go on it. Now I don't think I'll ever be off it.
Heath
Isn't it amazing?
Zane
That thing is just so active.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Zane
Everybody's posted on there.
Ryan Seacrest
Like the ring camera, like community as well. I love that one.
Heath
Definitely.
Mariah
I wouldn't recommend downloading or getting on those apps. If you are a very paranoid person. Don't do like, don't let it consume you. Like we can go on it all the time. And like we.
Zane
You guys do more than that. You guys go to it, there's a crime scene, you're going to it.
Heath
Making sure everybody here.
Mariah
We've been going out every day just to make sure like everything's okay.
Heath
Yeah, we've been every night we've been kind of like driving around the town, like going in like just trying to see if there's any way we can help, you know.
Zane
Fire. I hear fire duty up or watch duty up. You want to turn that off?
Ryan Seacrest
Do not disturb. Yeah.
Zane
Cuz I feel like I think it, I think it pushes through. Through silence.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Zane
I. Because it's like important.
Ryan Seacrest
Or maybe I'll just do that.
Heath
It has been super helpful because it's like there has been like the main fires and everything, but the amount of new fires that are popping up, like yesterday we thought was going to be like a more laid back day. Like the winds were dying down and we were like, okay, it's time to just like hone in and focus on the fires that already started. Then all of a sudden one popped up right next to us.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh yeah.
Heath
And then now we're like, okay, we're in the go zone. So it's like trying to plan and.
Ryan Seacrest
We'Ll get deep into our stories.
Zane
Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
But I think just like first thing one, our hearts and our support goes out to all the families and victims. Families of the victims who have lost their homes.
Zane
Yeah. Everyone in the Palisades, everybody in E and the Altadena. There's so many areas right now that have been affected. It's like whole neighborhood, neighborhoods that are down right now.
Mariah
It doesn't matter who you are and where you stand. A home is a home.
Zane
Right.
Ryan Seacrest
And I know our stories may not be as severe as Everyone else's. And so I don't want, like, as we dive into, like, what we've been experiencing, it's not like, oh, we're more important. We're like such a severe victim. Everyone's story is important, but I just want to say, like, mad. Also respect to the LA Fire Department and all the volunteers and people who've come out to help and badass. Because this has been such a complicated situation and it's been so hard to control and it's put everybody in such an anxious state.
Heath
They were in our community 48 hours.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, yeah.
Heath
Just fighting fire and, like.
Zane
And as unprepared as we were, it's like, very thankful for everybody coming out from, like, the woodwork, like, coming from other states, other countries just to help. That's amazing. And you really got to see how quick it happened in the past few.
Ryan Seacrest
Years, if you haven't already. I'm sure we'll put links down below to support the fire department in any relief efforts that are helping people.
Mariah
Yeah, we're like, build their life department. Like, you can send a meal to firemen and stuff like that.
Zane
And also all shelter, animal shelters, people that are displaced that need to find somewhere to stay. We'll link all those in the description.
Mariah
We'll put heathenized address in the.
Heath
Yeah, we also have a little animal sanctuary.
Zane
Right. I saw. I saw your. I saw the story, which was really sweet, by the way. I saw. Then I started getting DM saying, got put up. Heathen rise address too. They're taking in animals. I'm like, I know what I see.
Mariah
I know what you're doing.
Zane
I see what you did put.
Heath
We. We have. Have taken in four cats from the eaten fire. So we have four cats, my brother.
Ryan Seacrest
With us right now in a dog as well.
Mariah
You know, I was. I wasn't going to be picky. I really was just the ugly cat.
Heath
Like, I was hoping for, like, a horse.
Mariah
Well, we made a post saying if. If there's anything that we can do, please let us know. Because where Heath and I are located, we are surrounded by the bigger fires, but we're in this perfect pocket where it's not catching and we're in the flats. So I knew we would most likely be okay or be one of the last have to evacuate. So I just said, if our doors open, if anybody needs help, this girl messaged me and I was hoping for, like, maybe like a dog or two. There were some. I'm like, I want like, a horse. There was a tortoise there was a tortoise that was, like, looking for help. They didn't reach out to me, but I reached out to them just in case. I don't know. I was like, I have a bath.
Ryan Seacrest
Big one. Yeah, the big one has it.
Heath
What?
Zane
Tiptoe?
Ryan Seacrest
Tiptoe. I'm pretty sure my friend Riley has it. I was like, oh, my God. Yeah, yeah.
Mariah
Oh, so. So Tiptoe's okay.
Ryan Seacrest
I think he's friends with them.
Mariah
Oh, my gosh.
Ryan Seacrest
That's great. I saw the tortoise first, like, in his house, and I was like, what in the world?
Zane
You're telling. The one where she's feeding peppers to bring it out of the house. Right. Is that the one you're talking about? I saw.
Heath
I saw the post on that clip too. Yeah.
Zane
Maybe I'm evacuating. So I knew it was that one. Okay.
Mariah
Tiptoe's pretty. Pretty hot on Tick Tock. But I. People were reaching out to me and saying, like, I. Tiptoe needs help. And I knew I've seen Tiptoe before. So I went on her page and she follows me. So I was like, let me. Let me message her. She was posting so much. I don't even think she saw my comment or anything. But I was, like, hoping to get that. I was hoping to get some, like, maybe chickens. Like, we have, like, the space. So I'm like, somebody we considered a.
Heath
A pig, a big pot belly.
Mariah
Somebody was like, does anyone have a truck or something? I was like, we. I was like, hon, we have a truck. We have a truck.
Heath
They didn't end up needing to evacuate because the fire that was by us started going the other way.
Ryan Seacrest
Okay. Yeah.
Heath
So they were ending up not having to.
Zane
We just don't give it. We just don't give a shit about people. We take their animals. Thank you.
Mariah
We are asking people to know. So this one girl reached out and she said her friend has. They've had no power and she has, like, a newborn baby. And she reached out to me and said she has four cats. I'm like, damn. Like, damn. Like, give me the cats. So I was like. I was like, we could watch the baby too. Like, just everything. So she grabbed the cats from her friend. She dropped them off at the house. Turns out she didn't know us at all. It was just. My story was sent out to other people who needed help.
Zane
Yeah.
Mariah
So she. To, like, drop strangers. Cats off to other strangers is like, pretty.
Ryan Seacrest
It's a lot of trust.
Mariah
Yeah. We've had them for a couple days. Maybe we'll have them for the weekend and then figure it out from there.
Zane
But that's good.
Ryan Seacrest
Let's run that into the community.
Zane
Coming together, baby. Yeah. Hit it.
Heath
Ready? It's coffee talk.
Zane
Coffee, baby. Welcome back to zana Heath unfiltered. I'm z. I'm Heath.
Ryan Seacrest
I'm Matt.
Mariah
I'm Mariah.
Zane
And we are safe. Thank you so much for tuning in to another episode. Yeah.
Heath
And thank you guys for all checking in on us and stuff. We've tried to keep everybody updated, and.
Ryan Seacrest
It has been a wild 72 hours.
Zane
It has been.
Mariah
Zane and Matt both evacuated.
Ryan Seacrest
Well, no, we didn't. And it was very complicated for us in our situation to evacuate. So just to paint the picture of how this has all gone down on. Oh, gosh. What was it? It was Tuesday. Tuesday is when Palisades caught on fire. And that was pretty severe. And everybody was keeping their eyes on it. And also around on Tuesday, hopefully I've got getting right and my brain has just been mush following all of this. The Hollywood hills, right near sunset, closer to our house, did catch on fire near the equinox in west Hollywood that I go to. It was a small fire, and it was contained. And that was like, oh, oh, boy. We were kind of keeping.
Zane
Is this the night that it was really windy outside?
Ryan Seacrest
Right. No, this happened earlier in the day. This happened around, like, noon to 5. This was going on, and that was controlled. And then obviously, the fire keeps getting more severe. It's now reached global news. People were reaching out to me going, hey, are you okay? Are you safe? And I'm like, yeah, we're fine. As long as the Hollywood hills don't catch on fire again.
Zane
It's just the hills because it's so. Just brushy, bushy out there, and we should be good.
Ryan Seacrest
And then so Wednesday rolls around, and that is when, you know the fire is getting pretty severe and in Palisades. And then we're deciding to keep watch. Our buddy Connor comes over. Connor, Franta. And then we're watching the news, and sure enough, Runyon Canyon. That part of the Hollywood hills catches on fire.
Zane
Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
Which we did not expect. We thought it was just gonna be. We thought the Hollywood Hills would be fine. Yeah. It had. And sure enough interrupted within just 30 minutes an hour.
Heath
It spreads.
Zane
Well, they're thinking that one was started by somebody.
Ryan Seacrest
That one as well.
Heath
Sunswept.
Zane
Sunsweat was Sunsworth. Was that like. They were saying that it was like studio city. Yeah, Studio city. And then also the one on Barry Drive. Yes, that one. The person was caught.
Heath
They also caught the person by us. So, like, literally down the street from like, where we are, a dude was tackled by citizens.
Mariah
It was a citizen's arrest. They zip tied him and held him until the cops got there and him.
Heath
Until the cops came because they caught him trying to start a fire.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, my.
Mariah
In a neighborhood.
Heath
And then they tied him to the big Eaton or not eaten the Kenneth fire that's going on in, like, Calabasas, Woodland Hills area.
Ryan Seacrest
Just a maniac.
Zane
Yeah. With it's. People are just taking the opportunity because, like, there's fires everywhere. They're like, okay, this one's just another fire that started. So they want everybody to evacuate.
Mariah
Nobody's gonna think twice because it's windy. And they're just gonna be like, well, we're dealing with it anyway.
Zane
Yeah.
Heath
A lot of people are also trying to loot. So they're getting people to evacuate and then they're going into these homes so they can clear out while people are gone.
Mariah
It's crazy. Unfortunately, are people who still need to get their fire fix. And it drives me insane.
Heath
I think they've caught 20 looters, though, and good. At least they've caught, you know, a good handful of them.
Zane
This show is brought to you by Bilt mastercard. You've probably heard me talk about Bilt as the company that helps you earn valuable points on rent, but I'll let you in on a little something. The Bilt MasterCard is also one of the best ways to earn points on dining. If you've ever eaten at a restaurant, that means all of you. Keep listening. The built MasterCard earns three times points on dining. And when you use the built MasterCard at any of Built's restaurant partners, you'll earn up to three times additional points. You just have to use the card five times each statement period.
Heath
To earn points, select Built Restaurant partners. Also offer complimentary items to Built members so you can feel at home when dining out. Do yourself a favor at the next group dinner and grab that check first. Take the Built points for yourself and settle up after earning points on rent and at restaurants. Just got a lot easier with the Built MasterCard. Terms apply.
Zane
Start earning points with the Built MasterCard by going to jointbuilt.com unfiltered.
Heath
That's J-O-I-N B I L T.com unfiltered. Make sure to use our URL so.
Zane
They know we sent you jointbuilt.com SL unfiltered. It's insane. You're taking advant, like, of a situation like that, knowing the back of your head that, like, the whole city is, like, on watch right now for a situation like this. People are losing their homes. They're like, you know what? I'm gonna just burn down another city so I can. It's insane.
Ryan Seacrest
So, yeah, it was. It was wild when that fire first started because we just. So then all of a sudden, evacuation zone starts happening. And the way you get notified on the app for the people who don't know what the experience is, it's all down to, like, these little mini, like, district codes within the areas, and you get notified that you live area, you need to evacuate. At first, it's a red flag warning that just says, like, just to be cautious and be alert if there is an evacuation warning. And then it goes to evacuation warning, which is, like, this yellow zone, and that says, be prepared. You're going to probably evacuate. And then there's evacuation full go. That's when you have to go. So when the Hollywood Hills caught on fire, the rest of the hills had to evacuate. And we are, like, we were six blocks away from the evacuation warning zone.
Zane
Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
And then that was a very tough moment where we had to say, do we leave right now and get caught up in all the traffic, away from the traffic, at all the sky cams, everything down La Cienega, all of these people are trying to leave the hills.
Zane
Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
And so you're in this situation where you're like, do I prioritize my safety right now, or do I prioritize other people's safety?
Heath
You also don't want to, like, start evacuating when you're not in the zone, because people that are, like, in need like, that have to get out are also on the road trying to get out. And you don't want to flood. You kind of, like, have to take your time and stagger it so, like, the people can leave. Because that's why they had the. The jam on Sunset. Like. Yes. And then every, like, it got blocked, and then everybody had. They were getting parked and leave their cars.
Zane
Yeah.
Heath
And they had to come bulldoze all the cars out. Like Palisades in the Palisade.
Ryan Seacrest
That's what they had to do. People to walk away from their cars and then bulldoze those cars to make rooms for all the fire trucks and, like, you know, responders to get out there. So that was just such a tough thing. And it's a wild thing, too. It. Honestly, when you're in a natural Disaster. It feels like it's your birthday because everybody you know in your entire life is texting. Yeah, hey, are you okay? Are you evacuating? Then you're having other conversations with everybody else and saying what their plan is, and you just. And then you have friends who are immediately leaving, so we're, like, freaking out. We have friends who are saying, come down to San Diego. And I'm like, oh, I don't think we should go to San Diego. We're gonna get gridlocked going down there. It was such a paranoid thing. I go to our neighbors just to have a sanity check, like, look with somebody else and going, what is your plan?
Zane
And you don't realize the severity of it until you're, like, going through stories. And then you see somebody that you know that is just, like, filming their house just level, just completely. You're like, oh, wow, this is fucking here. Okay, you need to do everything you can now just to make sure you're not in there.
Ryan Seacrest
So we made the bold decision of just what we put in. It's wild, that moment. You have to look around your house and go, what matters the most? Like, what. What is important? Obviously, they say, like, get your 4Ps get, you know, passports, prescriptions, pets, all of that stuff, which we did. I. Clothes were the one thing I was like, I don't give a. About any of these clothes, because I'm like, I'm fine with when we.
Zane
So we. It was the next day when. When the. When the hills were on fire, like, the sunset fire. And we were all, like, me, Todd, and Danny, we're all looking each other. We're like, is. Should we just like, we. We were still, like. We were pretty good, but in the back of our head, we're like, like, let's just be safe. Because my mom was also, like. She was keeping up with everything. She was calling me, like, most more than anybody, and she was just like, hey, I see that you're like, you're good. But, like, just from my perspective, you should just, like, just get out of there. It's probably safest. And that's what we ended up doing. Daniel's also, like, had a lot of anxiety. She was, like, shaking. She's like, I just, like, don't want to be here, like, anymore. So, like, all right, let's just, like, pack up and go. We're looking around, and we just realized how we were looking at it differently. We're just like, damn. Everything is so unimportant. Like, just. Just like, the. In this house, we're like, let's just grab what we need to, like, just be good for the next seven days, and then we'll just start over. And, like, so we just packed up everything. We were packed in, like, 30 minutes. We're like, let's. We'll get out of here. We went all the way to Huntington beach and we just stayed there pretty much for, like, four hours.
Ryan Seacrest
Getting down there, were you able to zip?
Zane
No, it was like. It was pretty. It was actually pretty empty.
Ryan Seacrest
That's nice.
Zane
It was pretty empty because we just. It was just the highway. We didn't go through any of, like, the. The, like the streets in the city.
Heath
I think the worst traffic, like, for, like, where we are was when they sent out that mass alert for everybody.
Ryan Seacrest
That was an accident. Oh, I was at the gym and I was at the same room, took a shower.
Heath
Everybody.
Ryan Seacrest
Patricia called. It was eight times.
Heath
Yeah. It was a mandatory evacuation. And instead of going to the zone for the fire by us, it sent to everybody. And then all of a sudden, like, chaos. Everybody was in the car getting on the, like, bumper to bumper.
Zane
So people actually.
Heath
Yeah.
Zane
The second I got it, I KN that it was a mistake.
Heath
They didn't.
Mariah
We got it, and we kind of looked around and we looked at each other, and we're like, I think we're okay. Like, we should say, I don't think this is meant for us, because this is when the fire by us started. And I was like, I think this is for Hidden Hills Calabasas.
Zane
Yeah.
Mariah
The next thing you know, like, five minutes later, there's another alert. It literally sounds like my bad guy.
Heath
It was like, I know this one's on me.
Ryan Seacrest
So who is that person who just like. Like, got it.
Zane
Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
And then everyone's like, you know, what did you.
Mariah
It happened like, five times in the middle of the night.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, really? The same type of error.
Mariah
My phone went off. My friend Kate is staying with us. My phone went off. Kate's phone went off at like, 2:00am, 3:00am and everyone's just like, false alarm. False. Like, they keep sending. Somebody's in there. Like, yeah, do it, do it.
Zane
And there's people. Like, there's people that don't have those apps. They're. Yeah. There's people that are not watching, like, the news on tv. It's like. So these people are getting, like, Everybody gets that notification. Everybody doesn't matter. If you're watching, you're most likely they're gonna listen to it.
Ryan Seacrest
But it just. It's just wild watching all of it happen. Around you. It feels like you're like in a video game and you're, like, losing hp. Like, you're.
Zane
How.
Ryan Seacrest
It's just like burning from, like, every direction that you're in. You just feel the. The damage internally as well. Like, you feel kind of almost hopeless. You're like, where do I even just retreat to?
Zane
And also since. Because since you know that there's people trying to start fire now, you're not even worried about, like, the embers flying into your yard, right? You're worried about now somebody starting a new one. There's some. There's people going around starting in random ass areas.
Mariah
So you're just like, that's the biggest problem.
Zane
I feel like. Like that. Like, I feel like in your guys's head, you're probably like, we need to keep an eye out on our street to see who the is coming on our street.
Mariah
We haven't fires. We'll, like, take turns, like, sleeping, but, like, at least one of us will be up. Me, him, or Kate. And we're just like, watching the whole time. Because now. Because it's not about it. Like, I mean, yes, it's still dangerous, but they have an eye on it. Like, like spreading now.
Zane
It's.
Mariah
It is random people that are just going into any neighborhoods.
Heath
Yeah. Before we continue, we want to give a big thank you to our sponsor of this podcast, Rocket Money.
Zane
Missing out on a show that everyone's talking about isn't an option for me. I'm constantly signing up for this streaming service or that one. And then a few months later, I realized I've still been paying for the service long after I finished the show. That is not fun.

Ryan Seacrest
And hopefully, I mean, the wins. Well, apparently when this episode comes out, though, like, like, the winds are going to be bad, like, early next week, apparently.
Zane
Yes, I know. So hopefully that's all contained.
Heath
I think they said they caught the one dude, like, he was pouring gas in the.
Zane
In the sewer.
Heath
In the sewers. In all the sewers.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, my gosh.
Zane
Insane.
Mariah
And you're not supposed to drink your water right now.
Heath
Yeah, for all areas.
Mariah
It started in Pasadena.
Heath
Confirmed. Pasadena, don't drink Palisades. But I don't know about, like, other areas because I'm sure they are. Are connected in some way, but, like.
Mariah
One so much going in and out.
Heath
Don't forget, like, your ice machine, like, your ice machine is pulling the water from the city.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, didn't even think of that.
Heath
So people will be like, I'm just drinking, like, whatever water from, like, if you have like a big jug thing, but, like, if you have ice.
Ryan Seacrest
Ice. Yeah.
Heath
Ice is being from tap, right?
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah. Oh, my gosh. I didn't even think of that. They'll mix drinks the.
Zane
The first night when it was really windy. That's. Was it really windy by your guys's house too?
Heath
Crazy.
Zane
We. We were. It was like, it was so loud and we were like, already. We were. We were already getting nervous with just how loud the windows were. Like, damn, this is really dangerous. Todd's room has a big window where you could see, like the. The streets parallel on that street over. We're just looking at Just watching just like, damn, it's really windy. And it was just scaring us a little bit. And all of a sudden, just different transform. Transformer boxes. We, like, we saw this happening all at the same time. And we were. We like, what the.
Mariah
Is that that big blue light?
Zane
The blue light that we.
Ryan Seacrest
The ones that can like, zap and go zoom and just can erupt.
Zane
Because at first we saw like, a big, like, flash. We're like, was that thunder? And we look and it's just different boxes exploding and like. And we're like, oh, this is definitely how like, some of these fires are starting too, with these transformer boxers.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Zane
Exploding. And as soon as that happened, I went on citizens. I was like, bro, if this, like, starts a fire in this neighborhood, because we knew about the, like the. The Palisades, and like, this is. This is prime area. It's gonna be bad. And with how windy it was. Oh, my God.
Heath
Yeah.
Mariah
Like, I think it was 80 to 100 miles an hour.
Heath
I was watching our glass doors because we have like, our whole back is glass. They were bowing in. And you can watch like, the warp happen. And I was like, this is. I don't know if these are like, storm proof.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Mariah
I don't think they build California houses.
Heath
To withstand because, like, Florida, like, you have to have like, hurricane force, like, like glass reinforcement.
Zane
Whatever those Florida houses are. You make fun of Florida, but them houses are not going anywhere. We are so guarded on Florida houses.
Heath
I will say, though, I have seen, like, a lot of comments that are people. I mean, obviously, like, every devastation is different, but, like, I do think that this is bringing more awareness and reviving the North Carolina disaster and Maui. And I'm hoping that, like, yeah, just more prepared. Well, just like something for them too, because they're.
Mariah
Everybody stops talking about.
Heath
Everybody stopped talking about, like, what happened in North Carolina. And like, it's just like, people just on to the next thing, but, like, they're still.
Ryan Seacrest
We're trying to recover from that.
Mariah
It is good. It's sad, but it's good that, like, this is reminding people of what happened in Hawaii.
Heath
Hawaii and North Carolina only got like $700 in, like, relief funds. And it's like these people lost everything too. Like, it's just. It's awful. Like, but I. It is nice seeing people, like, bringing that back up and kind of like reminding everybody.
Zane
I've been watching the. Like, I've been glued on the news over the past, like, few days, and I ever, like, every time someone gets in your. By the Way I need to. Before I continue, I need to point out some of these reporters that are running after people as they're trying to escape. It's terrible.
Ryan Seacrest
It's just leave them alone disaster porn. They just want to find anything that, like, will get people's eyeballs on the tv.
Heath
People are running, holding, like, five horses on, like, these ropes, trying to evacuate. And the guy's trying to. And. And how are we feeling right now? Are we nervous? It's like, obviously, get out of the way or help.
Zane
Yeah, it's right.
Heath
Right here we have a guy who's freaking out. He's trying to wet the fire right now. It's burning his house down. And does it seem like your strategy's working, Sean? I.
Ryan Seacrest
Like, I know. What are you doing?
Zane
Just stick with the facts. Stick with the facts of, like, what's happening in large areas, like interviewing one person that's just trying to pack up, ready to go. It's just.
Ryan Seacrest
What are you trying to help people.
Heath
On what's going on and give advice to the people that are nearby that are also freaking out and what they can do.
Zane
Oh, people. Just. People getting their fire insurance canceled. Just, like. Yeah, just weeks, months. Right before this happened. It's just like.
Mariah
Did that not happen in Maui?
Heath
Yeah, it's so awful. Like, the fact that these people have been paying. It's not like if you were paying into your insurance for the year, whatever. And then they go, hey, we gotta cancel. I'm sorry. I'm gonna give you the money you've put back, like, that you paid us. Like, we can't. We can't hold this policy anymore. It's just like, like, sorry, we're keeping the money you paid us, though. Like, it's so weird. And then. Right.
Ryan Seacrest
Where's Luigi?
Zane
And there's a difference between, like, you not getting fire insurance because, like, you know, you're like, I don't want to pay. And then you. You get it, like, last minute, that there's a. Like, there's a difference between that and, like, paying for it for years and.
Mariah
Like, for literally nothing. Yeah, literally nothing.
Zane
Insane.
Mariah
And then the interview of the mayor. I told me everything I need.
Ryan Seacrest
Wait, which one? When she's in the.
Mariah
Where? She didn't answer. She didn't answer.
Heath
First of all, ignoring.
Ryan Seacrest
Right. Yes. No, it was bad. It was very bad of her. But also, why are you trying to conduct an interview in the middle of a. Like, she's about to go do a press release. Like, why. If you, as a journalist think you're Gonna get answers in the.
Mariah
But I remember like, sorry, I can't answer right now. I have a press.
Ryan Seacrest
Should have done that. She should have done that. Shame on you. Karen Bass, though.
Mariah
She looked like a deer and she looked frozen.
Heath
I just think that's crazy. Like you're, you're like the person that people are going to for like help and advice right now.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, I didn't vote for her.
Heath
And then funding cut for the fire department and I don't know, it's just like, it's just a really sad, unfortunate events that have like led to this. God.
Ryan Seacrest
And it's weird. The back of my mind, I've known that like this could have like happened like it was two or three months ago. It was Quentin Tarantino. He was on Joe Rogan's podcast and they were talking about fires and stuff. I listened to that whole episode and I remember him. Joe Rogan was explaining that he heard from a guy how, how Louisiana county is so vulnerable to a huge fire that would like take over it.
Mariah
It's too easy.
Ryan Seacrest
And I remember hearing that being like, oh, damn, is that true? And right when this all started happening, I was like, gosh.
Heath
And then, and then the fire hydrants not having water.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh yeah.
Heath
Insane.
Mariah
This is how easy it is to start a fire right now.
Zane
It's crazy how easy it's insane how easy it is. All you need is when and now in the future when it's really windy out now, like, everybody knows, like, even the bad people, they know that all we need is like a good amount of wind and then we just go around and just start some fires again. It's insane.
Heath

Heath
Want to give a big thank you to America's number one meal kit, HelloFresh for sponsoring this podcast. We love you. You. California especially like LA is so highly taxed. The fact that there is no budgeting to have preventative measures for this. We have some of the smartest people out here in California. Like tech people, like people that can problem solve. Like how the, the dead brush isn't cleared every year to prevent this, but it just piles on and like water management hasn't been solved. Like preparation for the stuff. Like it, it makes zero sense to me.
Zane
Also in my house I was praying for everybody flying over those skies.
Heath
I know.
Zane
Imagine being on a flight. Oh, that's all I thought about too. I was like, oh my God, imagine that flight.
Ryan Seacrest
I saw what was there a fire? Oh, this had to have been like five, six years ago. I took off at LA when it was like down in Malibu and I could see the fires.
Mariah
Wow.
Ryan Seacrest
It was pretty crazy. Wait, this happened like five years ago.
Heath
Oh, oh.
Zane
Got it, got it. It. This is a very neat like niche that's that I've been seeing people talk about. But do you know like the risk and family or the, the.
Mariah
Yeah.
Heath
Oh the people that own the water.
Zane
That own like 60 of the water in LA. They, they, they own like the like.
Ryan Seacrest
The wow Co. And Wonderful One Family.
Heath
Wonderful Pistachios, pomegranates.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh yeah.
Heath
A bunch of like businesses like that.
Mariah
But apparently they have the biggest agriculture.
Heath
Yeah. So they sell. Just made like a deal because like their products like require so much like water. They're like crazy billionaires they made a deal with like the state, the city. They own the rights to like all of the water.
Zane
And then the Aquaphor is like that.
Heath
Old and all that they sell back to Los Angeles.
Mariah
But they were like, they're prioritized. Like they are given most of the water and then they're selling it back to la.
Zane
But during this they've been like, they've been upping the price to LA to give the water to get the water to like help.
Heath
So they're just crazy, insane.
Ryan Seacrest
Water, water. Who are you?
Zane
Just sitting pretty.
Ryan Seacrest
Also, I learned recently that Chat GPT and AI uses a lot of water. And I got tagged in it.
Zane
I saw that too. Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
And do you know why that is?
Zane
Because of the, the systems that they use, like are overheats so much because they're using so much.
Ryan Seacrest
The surge servers.
Zane
Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
That host all.
Heath
They're water cooled.
Ryan Seacrest
Water cooled.
Mariah
They're. They're just like us. Huh? When I'm thinking too much, I got. I need a hydrate one.
Ryan Seacrest
Google search. Like you just want Google. Like, just search is just like a fraction compared to like it's like a whole bottle of water. I think every time you ask Chat, that was insane. Thank you for everybody who tagged me on it because I loved using just AI to like organize my life.
Mariah
Matt, you're overworking them and I don't agree with them.
Heath
Chat GPT bot is just.
Mariah
I know mine's at the beach like this.
Zane
Yeah. I don't even know how to use it.
Mariah
In the middle of the desert, no water.
Zane
I'm sick of it. I think I'm.
Mariah
I just can't keep. I just can't get behind. I just, I just don't know how to use it.
Zane
I don't know how to use it either, but I'm just such a dumbass. Like when I'm trying to figure like, like I, I need something out, like the way I type it out is just so stupid. And they come back with like exactly how I asked. I'm just like, I can't.
Ryan Seacrest
For me it's just Google because it's just like, I don't know, it gives me the answer faster and I don't know.
Mariah
I just ask.
Ryan Seacrest
You search deeper. It just saves me time. And now I'm like, oh my gosh. I have to be much more mindful about doing it. So thank you for everybody who's reminded me.
Zane
Yeah. That's so insane.
Ryan Seacrest
A little bit more responsible about it.
Zane
You wouldn't think that like they need water to cool like, like. But then I'm like, like that.
Ryan Seacrest
But then I'm like, okay, so the water goes in and cools and then it cycles out and I guess that water is now warm because it's cooled the heat. But I'm like, why don't you cool back up the water and just run it back again? Like it's not. But that's dumb. It's dumb thinking. I know was just like, right.
Zane
Me cooling the systems. I have the hosts, all the wires. Yeah, this is how you do it, right?
Ryan Seacrest
Oh man.
Zane
Because I can't like picture how it's cooling with. I like cannot picture it in my head. Like how is it cooling it with.
Ryan Seacrest
A water going through tubes and the tubes near it, like the same thing. PCs, like gaming PCs have water cooling systems and those are in those tubes and they're going around keeping it cool.
Heath
Like remember, the same with, same with your cars.
Ryan Seacrest
Yes. Oh there. Yeah. Coolant, right?
Zane
Oh, oh, like the, the blue stuff.
Ryan Seacrest
Very good, very good.
Zane
Oh wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.
Heath
They used to be air cooled. Computers also used to be air cooled. You can still have an air cooled computer like a PC, right? Fans.
Ryan Seacrest
Yes. But just with those servers. It's a lot to take on. Speaking of cars, this was brought up to me over the holiday break and apparently there's a TED talk about it and it's talking about self driving cars and this paradox that self driving cars are kind of facing right now. So about what choices it should make to save lives and prevent, you know, the death of others. So picture this self driving car is going down a road. In front of it is like a massive cargo truck van or whatever that has a bunch of like maybe barrels of hay or I don't know, whatever. And beside it are two different cars and behind it is the self driving car. Say one of those things falls off in, into the way of the self driving car. That self driving car. Now to make a decision, should it go left or right? And it could say, oh maybe it's a person on a motorcycle wearing like a helmet or it's like a family in like a normal vehicle.
Zane
Okay.
Ryan Seacrest
And it has to swerve each way. Which way does it go?
Zane
The, the, the van, so why wait?
Heath
So but it would have to be programmed to be able to make decisions like that and assess the situation to know which one would cause less damage.
Mariah
You think they have a conscience?
Heath
So that's what I, I get program.
Ryan Seacrest
Now for any of us as humans, it's a gut reaction. We wouldn't in. We wouldn't even have time to process in our moment going, you would swerve whatever way and it would be a total accident on whoever you did hit.
Zane
Yes.
Ryan Seacrest
But you're not like, yeah, if this is fully scanning and fully aware of the moment, does it now go, well, that's four people. I'd rather accidentally kill one person than killing four people.
Zane
That's so interesting.
Ryan Seacrest
That's like a weird paradox right now.
Heath
Of figuring out basically trying to program the AI with the train question.
Zane
Exactly. Like, what would you do you, you.
Heath
Know about the, the train track theory.
Zane
Where like if a train is coming and there's five people in one track track, one person on one track and you have to pull a lever to like save.
Heath
Oh, it's going to kill five people right now. But you're at the switch and you can switch it to only kill one. Are you doing that? But people have a problem being the.
Ryan Seacrest
One to pull five people than one person.
Heath
But people have an issue being the one to pull the trigger and know that they're doing that to one person as opposed to being like, I'm not touching anything and it's gonna do that.
Mariah
Oh, like consciously. You would have to live with like, I, I'm the reason. Or like this was an accident, truly.
Heath

Ryan Seacrest
This is off topic. I started listening to this podcast that I heard about and y'all, I'm, I'm trying, I'm keeping an open mind to it, but it's been kind of blowing my mind. And you know what? I could be wrong about this. So there's this podcast out called Telepathy Tapes. Okay, okay. And it started in like September. And there's this journalist out there, this like filmmaker, documentarian who found this woman who's been conducting studies with non verbal autistic.
Mariah
Oh, my friend just told me about this last night. Oh, yes, yes, just told me about it last night. And I was like, no, I mean it's. I think it's brilliant. I didn't hear it though.
Ryan Seacrest
So this. So this journalist documentarian found out that this woman's gonna be conducting the study. And families of parents of these kids who are non verbal autistic across the world have been claiming that their child can read minds, that they know what the parents are thinking, they know what their friends are thinking. And she, in just episode one, she reaches out to this woman who's conducting study and she says, well, there's this girl down in Mexico whose parents say that she can like read her mind or whatever. I'll pay for the study if you guys come together and we'll conduct it. So they came out here to Glendale, got an Airbnb in a house they'd never been before, and they do multiple studies. Like they do a random number generator and have the mom with like a whole partition, like a divider in between them, full, you know, hardcore blindfolds on like the daughter and do three different number digits, like 6, 4, 8, and the. And the number 6, 4, 8 can read the mom's mind. Then they blindfold the, the daughter, the non verbal girl, and give her a whole bunch of different colored popsicle sticks, like red, yellow, blue, green blindfold, and tells her to put them into separate piles. She does all of them perfectly, perfectly accurately. Gives her a book, a book written by her dad, a book that is like not even like published or you can't even get access to this book. Tells her to like pick a word on a page. The non verbal girl is able to Guess the word. Every single time she goes to another family, same thing. Their kid can do this ability.
Heath
What?
Ryan Seacrest
And so I.
Zane
And this is just a podcast. This is not a video. Is, this is just a podcast. This is a podcast.
Ryan Seacrest
She has a Google Drive where you can watch all the videos of all, all the studies as well. Okay, so if this is true that there is telepathy within us, this is a massive shift in the paradigm of just like pure human existence. Knowing that there are humans out there who can't tap into this frequency. The thing is, is that not enough like scientists are fully down to fund it and are that interested because it's not fully material. We still are not able to see that, that there is a telepathic frequency that can be observed. Same with radio waves. We can observe that radio waves do exist. That that's there. Unless there was like a full, you know, brain scan thing where they can see the image go from one person to the other and that person's able to see it like in their head.
Heath
I'm a little confused. So it's one person can do it right now.
Ryan Seacrest
Multiple.
Zane
No, no, multiple within family. So like a family.
Heath
Oh, this is a son or daughter.
Ryan Seacrest
So what? For the girl down in Mexico, she could only read her mother's mind. And then they went to another American kid. But I believe the kid was Indian, had like Indian immigrant parents. He could read like whatever number the journalist was guessing as well. And then does it again with another kid out here in America. I'm only three episodes in and I'm sorry, I don't have like all this stories straight. Go listen to it for yourself.
Zane
Link to a certain like so you.
Ryan Seacrest
Know how like some people on the spectrum of autism, there's also like savants, people who are able to like look at entire skitty cityscape and paint it perfectly. Yeah, there's those level or recite all the numbers of PI. There's Rain man type stuff. And once again, not everybody who is autistic and on the spectrum is a savant. Let's be very mindful of that. But the, these people just believe that their kids had this telepathic ability. But there's some people who are going, this is total mumbo jumbo. This is like a hoax. This isn't real. But then I'm like, who are these parents then who are able to like con everybody else and get their non verbal autistic child?
Zane
It's a tough thing to con.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, get them in on. Like we're gonna get the same number and are cueing each other and being able to fool everybody else.
Zane
They're playing that game the two girls were playing on stage.
Mariah
It's like I think it's too random to come up with on their own.
Ryan Seacrest
Right.
Mariah
And these kids are actually autistic. Like it's not. I don't know.
Zane
This is one of those situations that if they are like conning then they're. Then that's already a time talent because that like that. Well then it's still crazy.
Ryan Seacrest
Then just the pattern of all the cons happen to be these families who have this non verbal autistic child in their house.
Heath
They can only telepathically do it between their family. They can't do it to a random person.
Ryan Seacrest
It's different for everyone. Some of them say that they can only do it with like a mother or. Or one of their only family members. Some of them say they can do it with anybody. Some of them can only do it with like other autistic kids as well. Like some of them say that they can like read each other's minds with other autistic kids as well with autistic and non autistic.
Zane
So non autistic can also like can also guess what the autistic person.
Ryan Seacrest
The non autistic person can't guess what the autistic person is thinking. But they. One kid says that he has like a channel that he can like communicate with all of his like autistic friends on and stuff. I wish I could give you all of what I'm saying.
Heath
They have their own like little private discord. Discord.
Ryan Seacrest
But please if anybody like thinks like I'm. Because I. I'm still not sure if I believe it. But I've been very curious about like what is it about this that is not true Because I'm.
Zane
I mean this like. Like I've always believed in. Some people do have that like that gift. Like I. I do believe that some mediums are actually real. It's just very hard to. To prove that because how do you prove it unless you. You tell them exactly what he brings.
Ryan Seacrest
Full on visual brain scanners. And they have to wear that cap and show it.
Zane
Yeah.
Heath
I think it on the. The podcast. But did you see they have confirmed a first sending communication between dreams.
Mariah
Yeah.
Zane
No, I like what when was like.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh they scan what someone's dreams were like.
Heath
They. No they had two people hooked up in like a head thing brain thing waves and all that stuff. Two people sleeping and they. They sent like communicated between the two.
Zane
People sleeping while they're sleeping.
Ryan Seacrest
And they had similar dreams.
Heath
No, not that they had similar dreams, but they were able to send, like, a message.
Ryan Seacrest
Whoa.
Heath
To the other person.
Zane
Were they able to. Were they able to tell how they received that message? In their dream?
Mariah
It says two individuals successfully induced lucid dreams and exchanged a simple message. Oh, it's happened in California. They experimented.
Ryan Seacrest
Whoa.
Mariah
In October.
Ryan Seacrest
Freaky.
Heath
That's crazy. Easy.
Mariah
We're capable of so much. I know it.
Zane
I wish there was a brain scan thing hooked up to me and my brother that one day.
Heath
Which one?
Zane
Yeah. Remember when I was saying that there was one night me and my brother had the same exact dream?
Heath
Oh, yeah.
Zane
At the same time. That was the only time that's ever happened. We had the same exact dream. We were able to tell each other exactly what happened in our dream.
Mariah
Zane, that is like.
Zane
But that it was just a one time thing. Like, I just wish there was a scanner on.
Mariah
Crazy.
Zane
Yeah. Insane. We were also sleep. Like, this is when we were, like, in bunk beds and we were sleeping, like, head to head, like this, like. And he slept like this with his head. And we both like, whoa, that's crazy. I found. I found this, like, little prompt thing. It was like a Reddit thread. It was. And it said people with. People with adhd. What are the things about it that people just don't get?
Mariah
Don't.
Zane
ADHD often comes with an auditory processing disorder, especially in women. People don't understand. I can hear you. I can hear you just fine. I'm not going deaf. It's just what you said to me is either process as complete gibberish, or if there are multiple other sounds in a small area, I input them all in the same volume. The TV is the same volume as a dishwasher, which is the same volume as a dog scratching her back, which is the same volume as what you just said to me. It's sometimes impossible to soar unless I am looking at your face as you speak to me.
Heath
That's Mariah.
Mariah
Okay.
Ryan Seacrest
I feel like Mariah. Have you ever played Gone? Is it called Ganji?
Zane
The dice game?
Ryan Seacrest
Like the one where you have to pick it?
Mariah
I just watched videos of it where, like, they throw it up, grab and.
Ryan Seacrest
Catch it, and then you have to.
Mariah
I have a memory of playing that.
Ryan Seacrest
As a kid, but are you thinking of Jax?
Mariah
I'm thinking of Jax. Yeah, you're right.
Ryan Seacrest
I'm thinking it's, like, similar to Jax, but I feel like you would be, like, so good at that.
Mariah
I'm gonna show you.
Zane
That does Seem like a Mariah game.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah. Because if we were all in the squid game, there is one thing where it's four people and they have to go around a track and complete a bunch of different games. For you, I think it would be that.
Mariah
Thank you, Keith.
Ryan Seacrest
I think would be the one where he throws the stone at the. The.
Zane
The. All the marble at the other.
Ryan Seacrest
Or.
Mariah
Or.
Zane
No, the. The paper. You're talking about the paper.
Ryan Seacrest
No, I think Heath would be the best at throwing the stone and hitting the. The little, like, gravestone.
Zane
Oh, yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
And I think you would be the best at the thing. Like, the best. The one about the bouncing it.
Zane
Or.
Ryan Seacrest
Either I would take that or I would do the cards.
Mariah
I have no idea what you guys are.
Heath
No idea.
Ryan Seacrest
But the people who are listening, I think so.
Zane
Like, the game, you know. You know, the whole.
Heath
I didn't watch the first one.
Zane
Yeah. But like, you. You get the concept of all the. Like, it's like a thousand people all in this room, and then they have one winner, and then, like. Yeah. People die if they lose, basically. Mr.
Ryan Seacrest
Beast.
Heath
Sorry, sorry. I'm thinking. Okay, this is the show.
Ryan Seacrest
Season two happened, and there was a new game.
Heath
Okay, so this is not real, but there was a game that was real.
Zane
Squid. Yeah, they made a squid games game where, like, they.
Ryan Seacrest
Okay, that's like, nobody died.
Heath
That's the extent that I knew. Okay. Okay.
Zane
Yeah. So all the games that they play in squid games are all, like, childhood games.
Heath
Got it.
Zane
That they put these people through.
Ryan Seacrest
So, like, red light, green light.
Heath
Right?
Ryan Seacrest
A version of, like, hopscotch, but it's called squid game.
Zane
A version of, like, musical chairs, but it's like musicals.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, yeah.
Mariah
Remember I told you I took class with the red light, green light. That girl. Oh, yeah, Dancer. Yeah, she's a little girl.
Zane
Wait, wait, what do you mean?
Mariah
The girl who voices red light, green light. Oh, she dances at playground.
Zane
No way. Wow. Did she get high for season two?
Mariah
I don't know.
Heath
Before we continue, we want to give a big thank you to our next sponsor of this podcast, SeatGeek.
Zane
Guys, you know, it's that time. It's almost concert season.
Ryan Seacrest
We.
Zane
I want to go to some shows, I want to go to some games, I want to go to some festivals. And that's why seatgeek is this week's sponsor, baby. I. I'm trying to hit it all, baby.
Heath
And with over 28 million downloads, it's no wonder that SeatGeek is the number one rated ticketing app. There are more than 70,000 events listed right now on SeatGeek, including concert, concerts, sports festivals, and more.
Zane
And right now, you can get tickets to the recently announced Kendrick Lamar and Scissor, which is iconic. We got Billie Eilish, Post Malone and much more.
Heath
And as always, Sea Geek has your back. Each ticket is rated on a scale of 1 to 10. So you know you're getting a good deal. So look for those green dots. Green means good, red means it's not the best deal.
Zane
And the best part is that every ticket is backed by their buyer guarantee.
Heath
And guess what, baby? We came through for you guys. We have a code right now, code UNFILTERED10. And you're gonna get 10 off your next order of SE tickets.
Zane
Again, that's 10% off any tickets with promo code UNFILTERED10. Make sure you click the link in the description to download the app and have the code automatically added to your account so you can use it later.
Heath
Thank you so much, SE for sponsoring this podcast. We love you, but.
Zane
Yeah, no, but currently we are still packed.
Heath
Yeah.
Zane
Just in case goes down and we're ready. I also just realized how unprepared I am for any situation.
Mariah
You don't say Z. Yeah.
Zane
Just how unprepared I really am.
Mariah
I walked in here and I'm like, I just. I need water. He goes, we don't have any of it. We have any water.
Heath
One thing that popped into my head, like, when we were, like, thinking, like, okay, we should probably get stuff together. I just came home with a bag of eight disposable cameras and seven rolls of 35 millimeter film that are all unseen. Nobody knows what it is. It's my entire child. So there's only, like, three pictures. Four pictures of me as, like, a kid growing up. And I've always, like, joked with my parents, like, I'm adopted. You guys have zero documentation of me as a baby. And they're like, we have pictures somewhere. Like, they're. They. They're somewhere. We just. We never got them developed or anything like that. So I'm like, I've. All. For years I've been saying this to my family, and when we just went there for the holidays, I, like, brought it up again. I was like, I can't believe you don't have any photos. She was like, I have stuff somewhere. Let me go look. And then my mom started finding. Came after camera bags of rolls of film, so I brought them home with me. So I have a, like, all of it ready to go. And I just dropped it off. I had Jordan Drop it off this morning at the place down the street. So it is going to fill my entire childhood of all.
Ryan Seacrest
You have to like film yourself looking at the photos, dude.
Heath
Yes.
Ryan Seacrest
That is a cool. Crazy.
Heath
They have no idea what's on it. They're like, I. They like. I have memories of like bringing a camera to like a birthday party.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh God.
Heath
But yeah, I'm so excited to see what comes back on it.
Zane
That's. And rolls of film, they say good forever, right?
Heath
Well, they expire, but I'm also kind of.
Ryan Seacrest
Some will have like an orangey tint to it and I'm kind of pissed.
Heath
Right now because I brought them home with me. Me and we were, we were rushing at the airport and sometimes they make you take things out of your bag. Sometimes they don't. Sometimes it's this and then like, it's just like always confusing. This time they were like, nothing comes out of the bag. Leave your. Leave your laptop, leave everything. Clothes on, whatever. And I keep your clothes on. And normally I take my bag of film out and I have to hand check it because if you take it through the X ray machine, it like ruins the film. Film. And since I wasn't taking anything, usually ISO, I sent it through so it is going to come out even more grainy than it should have been.
Zane
But it's just great. That's all it does is like makes it a little more grainy.
Ryan Seacrest
800 and above, usually that's the ones you have to take out. ISO 400. I think you should be fine.
Heath
I've had quite a few rolls of film ruined from passing.
Zane
Oh, really?
Heath
Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh.
Zane
And like, you know, it's from like those machines that like it up.
Heath
And then even the guy that I take it to down the street, the street, he's like, how many times did you go through a scanner with this?
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, no.
Heath
And it was like before I knew that it does that. That's wild. So I'm gonna have to like probably like go in and like color AI.
Ryan Seacrest
Can also just like fully color grade at one bottle.
Zane
1.
Heath
One bottle per picture.
Ryan Seacrest
I take it back. But I think. I don't know. But I don't know if it's like Photoshop AI, if. If that is really using the water.
Heath
Or it's just this guy technology. The guy does like correction. So if they are like a little bit ruined or whatever. But I'm so excited to see.
Mariah
It's gonna be so cool.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh my gosh, that's so cool.
Heath
But that was like the first thing that I Got how many rolls? Eight cameras, like the disposable ones and seven rolls.
Zane
So that's what all of our pictures.
Ryan Seacrest
None of you. Sorry.
Zane
That's why all of our pictures on our phone are so grainy, right. In our photo albums, because it's going through the scan manner.
Mariah
My friend, she moved here recently, so she doesn't have too many valuables. She still has stuff like back home, like all the important things. So the only thing that she packed. It's really cool, but it's just funny. Like, this is all she had to take out. She has a hundred dollar bill that's signed by Elvis.
Ryan Seacrest
Whoa.
Mariah
Because her grandfather went to their concert and he waited outside and waited for Elvis to come out and had him sign it. And he gave it to her to have.
Heath
And it's also signed by.
Mariah
Oh, and Priscilla.
Heath
And Priscilla signed it as well.
Ryan Seacrest
Whoa.
Mariah
So insane.
Zane
That bill is worth a lot.
Heath
A hundred dollars?
Mariah
At least 100.
Zane
At least 100.
Mariah
Yeah.
Zane
That's a. That's amazing.
Heath
That's pretty cool.
Mariah
Yeah.
Zane
Is it like all crumbled up or is it.
Mariah
No, it's. No, it's flat in between, like books and cards and stuff. So it's nice and flat.
Zane
It's clearly written by a Sharpie from, like just a freezer. Wait a second. These fat Expo markers were not invented.
Ryan Seacrest
Until I saw a celebrity at the mall.
Mariah
Okay, which mall?
Ryan Seacrest
Century City. You know, it was Orlando Bloom.
Zane
No, Orlando Blue.
Ryan Seacrest
Orlando Bloom. I was just going up the escalator. He had a huge bag from like Lego. Like, was that the Lego store? I don't know if he's buying last minute Christmas gifts or whatever because. But it was just clear as day. I was just like, oh, my God. No. He had like a baseball cap on. Maybe kind of like a curly mullet kind of a thing.
Zane
Interesting.
Ryan Seacrest
Tan. Tan. Tan. He's.
Zane
He's incognito.
Ryan Seacrest
Incognito. But it was just in the flesh, just a rare sighting.
Zane
Orlando Blue. Who's he with right now?
Ryan Seacrest
Katy Perry? I think they're married. I think they have kids.
Zane
I got a different Orlando Bloom in my.
Heath
He was thinking about brown.
Zane
No, no, brown.
Mariah
And when he said Taylor Tan.
Heath
I'm like.
Ryan Seacrest
I wasn't even thinking about.
Zane
I was thinking about somebody else.
Mariah
You're like.
Heath
You're like, okay, Matt, we tan.
Ryan Seacrest
Like.
Zane
Yeah, I know.
Mariah
That's why I asked him. I went like, how does he look? How is he doing?
Ryan Seacrest
You know, like, you get the best.
Heath
Pirates of the Caribbean.
Ryan Seacrest
Is that Orlando Blue Bloom now?
Mariah
Now I know But I don't know why my brain went to Orlando Brown.
Zane
We were thinking the same way, but.
Ryan Seacrest
I was thinking, who's the other Orlando?
Heath
Do not chat GPT that right now.
Zane
I'm not.
Ryan Seacrest
I'm Googling it. I am Googling it. Orlando Jones.
Heath
Who's Orlando Jones?
Ryan Seacrest
Orlando Jones. He's been in a bunch of movies. He was in Drumline. He was in Drumline. He was the, the conductor.
Heath
Okay.
Ryan Seacrest
Flight of the Bumblebee. I'm also terrible Evolution. He was in the Replacements, obviously.
Mariah
I am.
Ryan Seacrest
You know his face.
Zane
I was also, I was thinking of like, what's his face? The Captain Jack Sparrow actor.
Heath
Yeah, he's Orlando Bloom.
Zane
No, that's not the Captain Jack. No, Captain Jack Sparrow.
Ryan Seacrest
That's Johnny Depp.
Zane
Johnny Depp.
Ryan Seacrest
Orlando Bloom was in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Zane
Yeah.
Heath
Oh, yeah.
Mariah
Now I'm very confused, cuz now when you said Orlando, boom. I'm like, no, I know who he is. And I immediately thought, Jack Sparrow. That's not the same person.
Heath
No, he's the guy in Pirates of the Caribbean with the, like the, the long hair.
Zane
He's the other.
Heath
He's like the handsome guy, but I.
Zane
Get him confused all the time.
Ryan Seacrest
What's his name?
Heath
You're gonna have to Google it.
Ryan Seacrest
You got to see Lego Loss. Also in Lord of the Rings.
Zane
Yeah, I was seeing him in my life.
Mariah
Yeah, I know who he is.
Heath
Back to the electric car, though. Did you see the Waymo the self driving that? The guy was stuck in it and it just kept doing circles.
Ryan Seacrest
Yes.
Heath
It literally. It had the wheel to the right and it's just going in circles. And he's on the phone, he's like, is this a prank, y'all, to go to the airport? This is crazy. Like, why is it doing this? He's like, are you guys pranking me right now? I have to get out of this car. And it just keeps doing.
Zane
They have like a reset button. Right. If you're like in a situation like that.
Ryan Seacrest
Something.
Zane
Yeah.
Heath
But it literally just kept going around and around.
Zane
You know what they should have? I, I know this is like very like, it just would not work out. But if there's ever a moment where you need to like get in this car and drive yourself, they should have.
Heath
That, that jump up front.
Zane
Yeah. Just like some sort of mode is like, or, or like even an emergency, like a state of emergency. It's like, okay, I need to like, get in the driver's seat. I need to drive myself to somewhere. Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
Like a fail safe mode.
Zane
Just something yeah. Cuz even think about, like, why would they trust you?
Ryan Seacrest
I don't know. I feel like you have to have like, more verif. I think they wouldn't want to trust their vehicle. They might have you stop. Get out of the vehicle.
Zane
Look, I mean, that vehicle is going to have some sort of, like, tracker on it. Like, I feel. Feel like there's. There's ways around it.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Mariah
Guys, he tried on his suit the other day and is.
Zane
Let me see.
Heath
Mariah took pictures and videos of it. So it's locked in. We're good to go.
Mariah
The guy just a few more fittings, but yeah, because he cuss, he got it custom made. So last time we went in before the holidays, we told him exactly what he wanted. And he was showing him, like, pictures of inspiration and this is the vibe we're going for. And so he made it over the holiday break. And he called us the other day, he said, if you guys want to come in, like, I have it ready. So it just needs to get, like, even more fitted.
Heath
But it's like, it's so cool because, like, I've always, like, dreamt of having, like, a custom suit.
Zane
Yeah.
Heath
Like, it's just always been something like, on my, like, one day I'll get a custom suit done.
Zane
Yeah.
Heath
So it was cool to like, go into this guy. Like, he's, he's. He's like hemmed pants before for me, like, he's done stuff. Like, I really like the guy. He's amazing. Encino Taylor.
Zane
Yeah.
Heath
So I went there and like, I sat with him and I was like, this is the inspo. Like, this is like the look that I want it to be. And then we went through books of fabric to, like, pick the material that the jacket's gonna be made of, the pants and stuff. And he's like, all right, cool. So then he had got the materials and stuff ordered, had like, is like it's all made by hand, like the whole suit.
Zane
Yeah.
Heath
So, like, he was like, hey, it's ready if you want to come try it on. And we'll do like, fittings and just like, make sure everything's good. And I'm so.
Mariah
I'm literally, like, in love.
Heath
So excited.
Mariah
So cool. We could show them. We won't show the audience the picture. They'll have to wait. But we can get their reaction if you want to show them.
Heath
Yeah. Do you want to pull it up?
Mariah
Yeah, I can pull it up. He was like, I've never felt like James Bond more in my life.
Zane
Oh, my God. You know, that's just custom made for his movies.
Heath
Oh, he wears a Tom Ford suit, by the way.
Zane
Is that what you. Is that what you got?
Ryan Seacrest
Tom Ford?
Zane
Let's see it.
Ryan Seacrest
Let's see.
Heath
And it's cool because, like, I got to, like, do everything. And he was like, do you want, like, your lapel to be satin? Do you want it to be regular? Do you like, every little thing for, like, an hour and just like, wow. He has a sketchbook. And he was drawing out what it was going to look like.
Zane
Oh, amazing.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, it looks stellar.
Zane
Oh, yeah. There you go.
Ryan Seacrest
Perfectly tailored. Oh, what's the back?
Zane
Can I see the back?
Heath
It's a tail. It's a long tail.
Ryan Seacrest
Nice.
Heath
So it needs to be, like, perfected. Like, the. The vest and stuff is going to come up. The one underneath, like, it's got to be, like, perfectly sized to me.
Zane
Yeah.
Heath
But this was, like, the rough thing done, and then now we're gonna go in and start, like, making it.
Zane
That's amazing. Yeah, he's really good. He's great for last minute stuff, too. I always go to him for last minute stuff, and he gets it done so quick.
Mariah
He's so fast. And he always seems so, like, happy to do it.
Heath
Like, he just loves his job.
Mariah
He's really.
Zane
He's really good.
Mariah
He's really good. Shout.
Zane
He takes care of a lot of people, too. Like, I saw, like, his walls, like.
Heath
Okay, okay, that's the back.
Zane
Okay. All right. Where's the bunny? I love it. That's really nice.
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, yeah, Heath.
Heath
My dad wore a tail coat for his wedding.
Zane
Oh, he did?
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, sick.
Heath
And it's so funny because when I first saw that style, I was like, absolutely not. But then, like, the more I looked at, I was like, I don't know, because I've already. I've worn black suits. I've worn, like, normal suits.
Zane
It's been done. Yeah.
Heath
Like, I have pictures and, like, I wanted it to be something completely different. Like, one day you want to look like a girl.
Ryan Seacrest
Like that. Zing.
Mariah
Really funny.
Ryan Seacrest
Making sure he's like, good.
Zane
That's funny. Oh, thank you, Matt. That's really funny.
Mariah
That's so good. That's a funny shot.
Zane
That is a funny shot. Like, it goes from the, like, the girl. Your sister.
Mariah
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then Zane, like, can you do that?
Heath
Yeah. I'm so excited. I got to go in again in two weeks to do, like, another fitting and everything.
Zane
Just keep going. Yeah. That's amazing.
Ryan Seacrest
That's great.
Heath
Thank you.
Zane
What?
Ryan Seacrest
I got Booked my flights.
Mariah
So do we.
Heath
Oh, yeah.
Zane
Flights are like. Because it's not like surrounded around like a holiday or anything.
Ryan Seacrest
We could book it, like, anytime we're going from Birmingham.
Heath
We do have to fly back in a few days to meet with the venue and the vendors and stuff to our last finalized.
Zane
Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
Go over everything.
Heath
Yeah. So we're gonna leave soon, actually.
Zane
Are you gonna have like a walkie talkie on? You make sure everything's being done. Imagine like you're at the altar and you're like, do you have the. Ready? All right, cool. Thank you.
Mariah
My sister and I were talking about. She thinks we should get a shot of me just obviously not really working. But it'd be funny if I was in my dress at the reception with my laptop trying to get it. Try to get the episode up.
Heath
Really funny.
Ryan Seacrest
That would be good.
Zane
That's really good.
Mariah
Because I do have to bring my computer no matter what. So it's like.
Zane
That's funny.
Mariah
I'm getting the episode up in the middle of my wedding and just a picture.
Ryan Seacrest
You post all your story that day. Like episodes coming, guys. Just be prepared and Right.
Zane
It's really.
Mariah
I hope you understand.
Zane
It's good too, because. Because, like, it's. It's not like something you see every. Like, it's not like a. It's not like a unoriginal or. Yeah, Unoriginal thing that everybody's doing on their wedding day. It's like something just so specific.
Ryan Seacrest
Did you see that? Right. Who washed off all of her makeup?
Mariah
Like, and it looked the same. It's a whole controversy around it.
Ryan Seacrest
And she looked.
Zane
She looked incredible.
Ryan Seacrest
Basically. What happened? Yeah, this girl's like, I'm about to get married in like 30 sec. 30 minutes and I'm washing off all my makeup and she washes all off.
Mariah
It was very minimal makeup, too. It looks nice, natural, kind of rude.
Ryan Seacrest
Like the, The. Her tone and her energy doing it. And then the girl who was the makeup artist, like, followed up with the video, which was just the best video ever. Just a class action.
Zane
I also felt really bad for, like, why would you post that?
Mariah
Why would you set up the. Like, if you're in such a rush and it's so important, why would you set up the phone and make it a point? Like, I'm taking this all off. Like, that's. It's rude.
Zane
Yeah. If, like filming it and posting it was, like, definitely off. But when I was seeing her, like, frantic. I did feel bad for like, the, The. The. What do you call the bad, like, the feedback or the, the response? The response. Because it is her wedding day and I'm sure, you know, people turn into. People turn gross on their wedding day. If they're like panicking, they become their worst self. So I understood. Like, I was like, damn, that sucks. But like she did like put that phone down and film everything. So it's like she was almost like.
Ryan Seacrest
You have every right to wipe off your makeup. I think just like sharing it is just a little like, what are you trying to say? Is this relatable? Sure. But it like, like, I don't know, someone's like career is like behind that too. It just seems a little like rude.
Zane
Yeah.
Ryan Seacrest
Even though you're paying the person, it's just rude.
Heath
Did you see the one of the bride who was like, I don't hate my mother in law, but I'm whatever. And it was like her husband and his mom, the mom like walked him like down the aisle and like held him and like kissed him on the mouth. And then like was like. It was like this crazy thing and the mom was wearing like a split dress like up like yo. The comment and. But it is crazy that this like bride posted this like especially like a newlywed like you. It's crazy viral on Tick Tock right now. And I can't even imagine the conversations between the family behind the scenes.
Ryan Seacrest
Yes.
Zane
That's just so embarrassing.
Ryan Seacrest
All the comments and a guest like filming that and being like.
Heath
All the comments were like, girl, if you didn't post the picture of them kissing on the mouth, I would not have believed you. Oh my gosh, dude. I'm like, oh, dude, that's.
Zane
It's crazy that like this happens still on wedding days. Like you can't just like leave shit aside for one goddamn day. Just. Just make it a perfect for one day.
Heath
It has to be about everybody.
Zane
Somebody.
Heath
It doesn't seem like they were saying. It seems like the, the mom wanted to marry the son more than then. She wanted to let her like you marry her son. Like, dude, it was. The mouth kiss was out of pocket.
Ryan Seacrest
I was at a wedding one time and it was like the rehearsal dinner and like the parents of the groom were like divorced and you know, like that's when like the, the parents like will get up and like speak and like the dad gets up and just was like speaking about like love and everything. And like his ex wife just like got up and just like walked away. Like couldn't listen to him talk about.
Zane
Because it was like.
Ryan Seacrest
Yes, but it was so awkward. Were like Wait, what?
Zane
What was she doing there?
Ryan Seacrest
Because it was the. The. The mom. The mom of the groom. His parents were divorced, but, like, it would be like if your dad got up and was, like, speaking about, like, how happy he was. Your mom was just like, nope, I'm not listening to this.
Zane
Okay, sorry.
Ryan Seacrest
It was too much of, like, a statement where everyone was just like, okay, like, the mom could have just like, chilled out.
Heath
This happened years ago.
Zane
Can I make this about myself? Oh, right.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Mariah
It's really.
Ryan Seacrest
It was so just like, oh, my God. Like, everyone was thinking it. Like, it was just such a statement. Like, this is not your place. Like, you making a statement. Just sit down and just, like, bite your tongue. And like, that's so wild.
Heath
Over the break, I did like, my whole family tree and brought it back to, like, the 1700s.
Ryan Seacrest
It's wild.
Mariah
It's so cool.
Heath
So cool to see.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, it's wild. Sometimes we still don't know the story. Is it, though, behind why these people make moved, you know? So was it. Was it for a job opportunity? Was it for love? Was it. Yeah, something that. What got them there? That's never really green, Claude. Yeah, you never know.
Heath
What's really cool is, like, somebody somehow related by whatever. I got connected to their family tree and they have pictures of my grandpa's grandpa. So I was showing my grandpa those pictures and he was like, this is crazy.
Mariah
It's crazy.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, that's wild.
Heath
It's so cool.
Ryan Seacrest
We, like, picture in our house of, like, our ancestors from, like, I think it's early, early 1900s, maybe like late 1800s, but them just in front of like, an old school, like, photograph just like, of them, like, standing outside their, like, barn house.
Mariah
Yeah. My mom has all those pictures.
Ryan Seacrest
It's just wild knowing those are, like, my descendants and that they're still hung up in our house. House now over a hundred years plus after, like, hopefully, maybe I'm on the someone's wall a hundred years in the future that they just want to, like, have that image on the wall.
Heath
Yeah, but.
Zane
Except it's not like that. It's more like.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Heath
I think the reason that they always have, like, that stone face is because of how long it took to take a picture.
Mariah
Yeah, they had, like.
Heath
It wasn't just like a snap.
Ryan Seacrest
It was like a full minute open.
Heath
Exposure for a minute. Had to sit still.
Zane
And was it just, like, not cool to smile in photos?
Heath
You would have to hold the.
Mariah
You had to stand there for like a minute.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Heath
So I think they were just.
Mariah
Yeah.
Heath
And that's why their eyes are so.
Mariah
Gosh, it's not like us now if someone pulls out a camera, you immediately.
Ryan Seacrest
Like, yeah, back then they just had 100 yard stairs like, or just like they'd seen so much people die.
Mariah
I have a quick crazy Small world store story. So the house that my grandmother grew up in is in Brooklyn. And me and my mom, when we go to Brooklyn, we'll just like stop by all the houses and all the family history, whatever. So there's a picture of my grandma out in front of the house. So we went and recreated the picture, whatever. So this house was built in the 20s and my grandmother grew up there. And a few years ago, maybe like five years ago, my mom in Pennsylvania, she started, she does like multiple jobs, whatever she could get her hands on. She started cleaning this woman's house and babysitting her kids. And she met the grandmother of that household and she had an accent. She was like, oh, where are you from? And she said Brooklyn. She goes, oh, so are we like what part? They start honing on and on like where she's from and she zones in on my grandma's street.
Heath
They were, they lived in the same.
Mariah
House, in the same exact, exact house.
Ryan Seacrest
Whoa.
Mariah
She said the address and they were like, wait, what? And they don't even know each other.
Heath
And they randomly met this family in.
Mariah
Pennsylvania like the middle of the. So my mom's like, what the heck? And they're like, they're not the same age. They're maybe like 15 years apart. My grandma's older than this woman, but she got them connected and they were going back and forth and my grandma was like, yeah, we lived there these years. She said the bakery next door I would go to every day cuz I had a crush on the owner. And this woman goes, that's my dad. So the owner of the bakery is this woman's father. My grandma had a crush on him. So when my grandma moved out of that house, this woman's family, she wasn't even born yet. This woman's family moved in then she was born in that house. Crazy.
Ryan Seacrest
That is.
Mariah
Thank God we found that out before. Not that it's like a very important thing, but it's cool to know. Before my grandma passed, like they were able to like connect the dots and stuff. It's insane.
Heath
In the same house, had a crush on this lady's dad who was the Baker Neck. Like that's, it's insane.
Ryan Seacrest
And then it's like crazy.
Mariah
80 years later. No more than that. 90 years later.
Ryan Seacrest
I love that.
Mariah
It's crazy.
Ryan Seacrest
It just reminded me of a story. I'm not. I'm just. I'm not making it back about me. I'm just, like, relating to it.
Mariah
That's how conversations work.
Ryan Seacrest
Matt. I was in college and I was at, like a. Just like, hammered, talking people. Hey, where are you from? And it was some other person brought this other girl there at the party, and I was talking to her. I was like, where are you from? She's like, I'm from Grand Prairie. And I go, my dad's from there. And she was like, oh, it's crazy. Yeah, my parents are from there. My grandparents are from there. And I go, my grandparents are from Grand Prairie. I've always been from there. And she was like, oh, well. I go, well, what's your grandmother's name? And she, like, says it. And I go, I'm just going to text my dad right now to see, like, if he would know. And I texted him, like, hey, do you know this girl? Deirdre? I think that was the girl's name, but her grandmother, it's so and so. And my dad's like, yeah, that was your grandmother's best friend. And then. Then sends, like, a photo of my grandmother, like, and her. And then I like, and I show, and this all happens at the party. And we're like, what? We couldn't believe it. They were best friends, hung out all the time.
Heath
Like, the heck.
Zane
The fact that he was able to get a picture so quick. Yeah, that's insane.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah, that's pretty crazy. And we were just like, unbelievable.
Mariah
Like, such a. Such a stickler on taking pictures of everything and, like, getting them printed out and having them all organized. Because in moments like that, you could just pull from it and be like, this is it. It's really. It's the coolest thing in the world. It's so fun.
Zane
Yeah, we. I don't have moments like that ever.
Heath
You don't talk to people to find.
Zane
No, no, there's just. No, no, we have no pictures. No, no, like. Like, I have no pictures. I have no old.
Heath
You might have a bag of unseen film randomly in your mom.
Zane
No, no, I've seen all the pictures that we have.
Heath

Zane

Heath

Zane
No, I've seen all the photos or all of me, like when I was little, but like, this is when I was like five years old, six years old. There's really nothing much before that.
Ryan Seacrest
Have you ever had Ella claims explain that whole connection? Connection?
Mariah
Their connection?
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Mariah
No.
Ryan Seacrest
You've never heard how Ella and McLean are connected or how.
Mariah
Aren't they both from New York?
Ryan Seacrest
Oh, Ella's dad was like, talking to McLean one time and was like, mclean, where are you from? And she was like, oh, well, yeah, I think she's from, like, New York State. New York or whatever. And he goes, really? He goes, wait, what's your last name? And she's like this. And he goes, is your dad. Or he goes, do you know this guy who had feral something? Feral? She goes, yeah, that's my uncle. And he goes, so your dad is this guy? And she goes, yes. And he goes, yeah, I was. They went to college, apparently together and lived on the same dorm room floor and were best friends all throughout, like the. The 80s. You never heard this story maybe butchering it, but you got to ask Ella and McLean the story. And then McLean FaceTimes her dad, or maybe it was her uncle, but with Eliza goes, hey, Mike wants to say hi. And he's just like, how are you, mate? And they're like, oh, my gosh, what are you doing? What the hec each other for years. Years. Ella and McLean. And it's weird because Ella's dad is like, from, like, Europe and is like.
Mariah
You know, invisible string theory is. Wow, crazy.
Zane
That's incredible.
Ryan Seacrest
You gotta. I'm maybe butchering the whole connection. They paint the story is.
