A lot of, a lot of people have been coming out to help. We saw like Canada's team's Canadian planes.

Flying over the house. It gave me chills. Yeah, chills. But you know what I will say this is, it's making me feel good how this is the most like united I've felt with everybody. Like everybody's helping everybody. People are coming in from all over just to help. Which is really nice.

But it should really be like that 24 7.

True. Exactly. Relax Community. Because there's so many transplants who move here and I feel like there's just never like a solid backbone of like everyone being on the same page, looking out for one another and being united.

We've been going out every day just to make sure like everything's okay.

Yeah, we've been every night we've been kind of like driving around the town, like going in like just trying to see if there's any way we can help, you know.

Cuz I feel like I think it, I think it pushes through. Through silence.

I. Because it's like important.

It has been super helpful because it's like there has been like the main fires and everything, but the amount of new fires that are popping up, like yesterday we thought was going to be like a more laid back day. Like the winds were dying down and we were like, okay, it's time to just like hone in and focus on the fires that already started. Then all of a sudden one popped up right next to us.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Oh yeah.

[Heath]

And then now we're like, okay, we're in the go zone. So it's like trying to plan and.

[Ryan Seacrest]

We'Ll get deep into our stories.

[Zane]

Yeah.

[Ryan Seacrest]

But I think just like first thing one, our hearts and our support goes out to all the families and victims. Families of the victims who have lost their homes.

[Zane]

Yeah. Everyone in the Palisades, everybody in E and the Altadena. There's so many areas right now that have been affected. It's like whole neighborhood, neighborhoods that are down right now.

[Mariah]

It doesn't matter who you are and where you stand. A home is a home.

[Zane]

Right.

[Ryan Seacrest]

And I know our stories may not be as severe as Everyone else's. And so I don't want, like, as we dive into, like, what we've been experiencing, it's not like, oh, we're more important. We're like such a severe victim. Everyone's story is important, but I just want to say, like, mad. Also respect to the LA Fire Department and all the volunteers and people who've come out to help and badass. Because this has been such a complicated situation and it's been so hard to control and it's put everybody in such an anxious state.

They were in our community 48 hours.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Oh, yeah.

[Heath]

Just fighting fire and, like.

[Zane]

And as unprepared as we were, it's like, very thankful for everybody coming out from, like, the woodwork, like, coming from other states, other countries just to help. That's amazing. And you really got to see how quick it happened in the past few.

Yeah, we're like, build their life department. Like, you can send a meal to firemen and stuff like that.

Yeah, we also have a little animal sanctuary.

Right. I saw. I saw your. I saw the story, which was really sweet, by the way. I saw. Then I started getting DM saying, got put up. Heathen rise address too. They're taking in animals. I'm like, I know what I see.

I know what you're doing.

[Zane]

I see what you did put.

We. We have. Have taken in four cats from the eaten fire. So we have four cats, my brother.

With us right now in a dog as well.

[Mariah]

You know, I was. I wasn't going to be picky. I really was just the ugly cat.

[Heath]

Like, I was hoping for, like, a horse.

[Mariah]

Well, we made a post saying if. If there's anything that we can do, please let us know. Because where Heath and I are located, we are surrounded by the bigger fires, but we're in this perfect pocket where it's not catching and we're in the flats. So I knew we would most likely be okay or be one of the last have to evacuate. So I just said, if our doors open, if anybody needs help, this girl messaged me and I was hoping for, like, maybe like a dog or two. There were some. I'm like, I want like, a horse. There was a tortoise there was a tortoise that was, like, looking for help. They didn't reach out to me, but I reached out to them just in case. I don't know. I was like, I have a bath.

Big one. Yeah, the big one has it.

[Heath]

Tiptoe?

Tiptoe. I'm pretty sure my friend Riley has it. I was like, oh, my God. Yeah, yeah.

Oh, so. So Tiptoe's okay.

I think he's friends with them.

[Mariah]

Oh, my gosh.

That's great. I saw the tortoise first, like, in his house, and I was like, what in the world?

[Zane]

You're telling. The one where she's feeding peppers to bring it out of the house. Right. Is that the one you're talking about? I saw.

I saw the post on that clip too. Yeah.

Maybe I'm evacuating. So I knew it was that one. Okay.

[Mariah]

Tiptoe's pretty. Pretty hot on Tick Tock. But I. People were reaching out to me and saying, like, I. Tiptoe needs help. And I knew I've seen Tiptoe before. So I went on her page and she follows me. So I was like, let me. Let me message her. She was posting so much. I don't even think she saw my comment or anything. But I was, like, hoping to get that. I was hoping to get some, like, maybe chickens. Like, we have, like, the space. So I'm like, somebody we considered a.

A pig, a big pot belly.

[Mariah]

Somebody was like, does anyone have a truck or something? I was like, we. I was like, hon, we have a truck. We have a truck.

[Heath]

They didn't end up needing to evacuate because the fire that was by us started going the other way.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Okay. Yeah.

[Heath]

So they were ending up not having to.

[Zane]

We just don't give it. We just don't give a shit about people. We take their animals. Thank you.

[Mariah]

We are asking people to know. So this one girl reached out and she said her friend has. They've had no power and she has, like, a newborn baby. And she reached out to me and said she has four cats. I'm like, damn. Like, damn. Like, give me the cats. So I was like. I was like, we could watch the baby too. Like, just everything. So she grabbed the cats from her friend. She dropped them off at the house. Turns out she didn't know us at all. It was just. My story was sent out to other people who needed help.

Yeah.

So she. To, like, drop strangers. Cats off to other strangers is like, pretty.

It's a lot of trust.

[Mariah]

Yeah. We've had them for a couple days. Maybe we'll have them for the weekend and then figure it out from there.

It has been a wild 72 hours.

[Zane]

It has been.

Zane and Matt both evacuated.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Well, no, we didn't. And it was very complicated for us in our situation to evacuate. So just to paint the picture of how this has all gone down on. Oh, gosh. What was it? It was Tuesday. Tuesday is when Palisades caught on fire. And that was pretty severe. And everybody was keeping their eyes on it. And also around on Tuesday, hopefully I've got getting right and my brain has just been mush following all of this. The Hollywood hills, right near sunset, closer to our house, did catch on fire near the equinox in west Hollywood that I go to. It was a small fire, and it was contained. And that was like, oh, oh, boy. We were kind of keeping.

[Zane]

Is this the night that it was really windy outside?

[Ryan Seacrest]

Right. No, this happened earlier in the day. This happened around, like, noon to 5. This was going on, and that was controlled. And then obviously, the fire keeps getting more severe. It's now reached global news. People were reaching out to me going, hey, are you okay? Are you safe? And I'm like, yeah, we're fine. As long as the Hollywood hills don't catch on fire again.

[Zane]

It's just the hills because it's so. Just brushy, bushy out there, and we should be good.

[Ryan Seacrest]

And then so Wednesday rolls around, and that is when, you know the fire is getting pretty severe and in Palisades. And then we're deciding to keep watch. Our buddy Connor comes over. Connor, Franta. And then we're watching the news, and sure enough, Runyon Canyon. That part of the Hollywood hills catches on fire.

[Zane]

Yeah.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Which we did not expect. We thought it was just gonna be. We thought the Hollywood Hills would be fine. Yeah. It had. And sure enough interrupted within just 30 minutes an hour.

[Heath]

It spreads.

[Zane]

Well, they're thinking that one was started by somebody.

[Ryan Seacrest]

That one as well.

[Heath]

Sunswept.

[Zane]

Sunsweat was Sunsworth. Was that like. They were saying that it was like studio city. Yeah, Studio city. And then also the one on Barry Drive. Yes, that one. The person was caught.

[Heath]

They also caught the person by us. So, like, literally down the street from like, where we are, a dude was tackled by citizens.

[Mariah]

It was a citizen's arrest. They zip tied him and held him until the cops got there and him.

[Heath]

Until the cops came because they caught him trying to start a fire.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Oh, my.

[Mariah]

In a neighborhood.

[Heath]

And then they tied him to the big Eaton or not eaten the Kenneth fire that's going on in, like, Calabasas, Woodland Hills area.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Just a maniac.

[Zane]

Yeah. With it's. People are just taking the opportunity because, like, there's fires everywhere. They're like, okay, this one's just another fire that started. So they want everybody to evacuate.

[Mariah]

Nobody's gonna think twice because it's windy. And they're just gonna be like, well, we're dealing with it anyway.

[Zane]

Yeah.

[Heath]

A lot of people are also trying to loot. So they're getting people to evacuate and then they're going into these homes so they can clear out while people are gone.

[Mariah]

It's crazy. Unfortunately, are people who still need to get their fire fix. And it drives me insane.

[Heath]

I think they've caught 20 looters, though, and good. At least they've caught, you know, a good handful of them.

So, yeah, it was. It was wild when that fire first started because we just. So then all of a sudden, evacuation zone starts happening. And the way you get notified on the app for the people who don't know what the experience is, it's all down to, like, these little mini, like, district codes within the areas, and you get notified that you live area, you need to evacuate. At first, it's a red flag warning that just says, like, just to be cautious and be alert if there is an evacuation warning. And then it goes to evacuation warning, which is, like, this yellow zone, and that says, be prepared. You're going to probably evacuate. And then there's evacuation full go. That's when you have to go. So when the Hollywood Hills caught on fire, the rest of the hills had to evacuate. And we are, like, we were six blocks away from the evacuation warning zone.

Yeah.

[Ryan Seacrest]

And then that was a very tough moment where we had to say, do we leave right now and get caught up in all the traffic, away from the traffic, at all the sky cams, everything down La Cienega, all of these people are trying to leave the hills.

[Zane]

Yeah.

[Ryan Seacrest]

And so you're in this situation where you're like, do I prioritize my safety right now, or do I prioritize other people's safety?

[Heath]

You also don't want to, like, start evacuating when you're not in the zone, because people that are, like, in need like, that have to get out are also on the road trying to get out. And you don't want to flood. You kind of, like, have to take your time and stagger it so, like, the people can leave. Because that's why they had the. The jam on Sunset. Like. Yes. And then every, like, it got blocked, and then everybody had. They were getting parked and leave their cars.

[Zane]

Yeah.

[Heath]

And they had to come bulldoze all the cars out. Like Palisades in the Palisade.

[Ryan Seacrest]

That's what they had to do. People to walk away from their cars and then bulldoze those cars to make rooms for all the fire trucks and, like, you know, responders to get out there. So that was just such a tough thing. And it's a wild thing, too. It. Honestly, when you're in a natural Disaster. It feels like it's your birthday because everybody you know in your entire life is texting. Yeah, hey, are you okay? Are you evacuating? Then you're having other conversations with everybody else and saying what their plan is, and you just. And then you have friends who are immediately leaving, so we're, like, freaking out. We have friends who are saying, come down to San Diego. And I'm like, oh, I don't think we should go to San Diego. We're gonna get gridlocked going down there. It was such a paranoid thing. I go to our neighbors just to have a sanity check, like, look with somebody else and going, what is your plan?

[Zane]

And you don't realize the severity of it until you're, like, going through stories. And then you see somebody that you know that is just, like, filming their house just level, just completely. You're like, oh, wow, this is fucking here. Okay, you need to do everything you can now just to make sure you're not in there.

[Ryan Seacrest]

So we made the bold decision of just what we put in. It's wild, that moment. You have to look around your house and go, what matters the most? Like, what. What is important? Obviously, they say, like, get your 4Ps get, you know, passports, prescriptions, pets, all of that stuff, which we did. I. Clothes were the one thing I was like, I don't give a. About any of these clothes, because I'm like, I'm fine with when we.

[Zane]

So we. It was the next day when. When the. When the hills were on fire, like, the sunset fire. And we were all, like, me, Todd, and Danny, we're all looking each other. We're like, is. Should we just like, we. We were still, like. We were pretty good, but in the back of our head, we're like, like, let's just be safe. Because my mom was also, like. She was keeping up with everything. She was calling me, like, most more than anybody, and she was just like, hey, I see that you're like, you're good. But, like, just from my perspective, you should just, like, just get out of there. It's probably safest. And that's what we ended up doing. Daniel's also, like, had a lot of anxiety. She was, like, shaking. She's like, I just, like, don't want to be here, like, anymore. So, like, all right, let's just, like, pack up and go. We're looking around, and we just realized how we were looking at it differently. We're just like, damn. Everything is so unimportant. Like, just. Just like, the. In this house, we're like, let's just grab what we need to, like, just be good for the next seven days, and then we'll just start over. And, like, so we just packed up everything. We were packed in, like, 30 minutes. We're like, let's. We'll get out of here. We went all the way to Huntington beach and we just stayed there pretty much for, like, four hours.

Getting down there, were you able to zip?

[Zane]

No, it was like. It was pretty. It was actually pretty empty.

[Ryan Seacrest]

That's nice.

[Zane]

It was pretty empty because we just. It was just the highway. We didn't go through any of, like, the. The, like the streets in the city.

[Heath]

I think the worst traffic, like, for, like, where we are was when they sent out that mass alert for everybody.

[Ryan Seacrest]

The second I got it, I KN that it was a mistake.

[Heath]

They didn't.

We got it, and we kind of looked around and we looked at each other, and we're like, I think we're okay. Like, we should say, I don't think this is meant for us, because this is when the fire by us started. And I was like, I think this is for Hidden Hills Calabasas.

[Zane]

Yeah.

[Mariah]

The next thing you know, like, five minutes later, there's another alert. It literally sounds like my bad guy.

[Heath]

It was like, I know this one's on me.

[Ryan Seacrest]

So who is that person who just like. Like, got it.

[Zane]

Yeah.

And then everyone's like, you know, what did you.

[Mariah]

It happened like, five times in the middle of the night.

Oh, really? The same type of error.

My phone went off. My friend Kate is staying with us. My phone went off. Kate's phone went off at like, 2:00am, 3:00am and everyone's just like, false alarm. False. Like, they keep sending. Somebody's in there. Like, yeah, do it, do it.

[Zane]

And there's people. Like, there's people that don't have those apps. They're. Yeah. There's people that are not watching, like, the news on tv. It's like. So these people are getting, like, Everybody gets that notification. Everybody doesn't matter. If you're watching, you're most likely they're gonna listen to it.

But it just. It's just wild watching all of it happen. Around you. It feels like you're like in a video game and you're, like, losing hp. Like, you're.

[Zane]

How.

[Ryan Seacrest]

It's just like burning from, like, every direction that you're in. You just feel the. The damage internally as well. Like, you feel kind of almost hopeless. You're like, where do I even just retreat to?

[Zane]

And also since. Because since you know that there's people trying to start fire now, you're not even worried about, like, the embers flying into your yard, right? You're worried about now somebody starting a new one. There's some. There's people going around starting in random ass areas.

[Mariah]

So you're just like, that's the biggest problem.

[Zane]

I feel like. Like that. Like, I feel like in your guys's head, you're probably like, we need to keep an eye out on our street to see who the is coming on our street.

[Mariah]

We haven't fires. We'll, like, take turns, like, sleeping, but, like, at least one of us will be up. Me, him, or Kate. And we're just like, watching the whole time. Because now. Because it's not about it. Like, I mean, yes, it's still dangerous, but they have an eye on it. Like, like spreading now.

Exploding. And as soon as that happened, I went on citizens. I was like, bro, if this, like, starts a fire in this neighborhood, because we knew about the, like the. The Palisades, and like, this is. This is prime area. It's gonna be bad. And with how windy it was. Oh, my God.

Like, I think it was 80 to 100 miles an hour.

I was watching our glass doors because we have like, our whole back is glass. They were bowing in. And you can watch like, the warp happen. And I was like, this is. I don't know if these are like, storm proof.

I don't think they build California houses.

To withstand because, like, Florida, like, you have to have like, hurricane force, like, like glass reinforcement.

Whatever those Florida houses are. You make fun of Florida, but them houses are not going anywhere. We are so guarded on Florida houses.

I will say, though, I have seen, like, a lot of comments that are people. I mean, obviously, like, every devastation is different, but, like, I do think that this is bringing more awareness and reviving the North Carolina disaster and Maui. And I'm hoping that, like, yeah, just more prepared. Well, just like something for them too, because they're.

Everybody stops talking about.

Everybody stopped talking about, like, what happened in North Carolina. And like, it's just like, people just on to the next thing, but, like, they're still.

We're trying to recover from that.

It is good. It's sad, but it's good that, like, this is reminding people of what happened in Hawaii.

Hawaii and North Carolina only got like $700 in, like, relief funds. And it's like these people lost everything too. Like, it's just. It's awful. Like, but I. It is nice seeing people, like, bringing that back up and kind of like reminding everybody.

I've been watching the. Like, I've been glued on the news over the past, like, few days, and I ever, like, every time someone gets in your. By the Way I need to. Before I continue, I need to point out some of these reporters that are running after people as they're trying to escape. It's terrible.

It's just leave them alone disaster porn. They just want to find anything that, like, will get people's eyeballs on the tv.

People are running, holding, like, five horses on, like, these ropes, trying to evacuate. And the guy's trying to. And. And how are we feeling right now? Are we nervous? It's like, obviously, get out of the way or help.

Right here we have a guy who's freaking out. He's trying to wet the fire right now. It's burning his house down. And does it seem like your strategy's working, Sean? I.

Just stick with the facts. Stick with the facts of, like, what's happening in large areas, like interviewing one person that's just trying to pack up, ready to go. It's just.

Yeah, it's so awful. Like, the fact that these people have been paying. It's not like if you were paying into your insurance for the year, whatever. And then they go, hey, we gotta cancel. I'm sorry. I'm gonna give you the money you've put back, like, that you paid us. Like, we can't. We can't hold this policy anymore. It's just like, like, sorry, we're keeping the money you paid us, though. Like, it's so weird. And then. Right.

He was on Joe Rogan's podcast and they were talking about fires and stuff. I listened to that whole episode and I remember him. Joe Rogan was explaining that he heard from a guy how, how Louisiana county is so vulnerable to a huge fire that would like take over it.

It's too easy.

And I remember hearing that being like, oh, damn, is that true? And right when this all started happening, I was like, gosh.

And then, and then the fire hydrants not having water.

It's crazy how easy it's insane how easy it is. Speaking of cars, this was brought up to me over the holiday break and apparently there's a TED talk about it and it's talking about self driving cars and this paradox that self driving cars are kind of facing right now. So about what choices it should make to save lives and prevent, you know, the death of others. So picture this self driving car is going down a road. In front of it is like a massive cargo truck van or whatever that has a bunch of like maybe barrels of hay or I don't know, whatever. And beside it are two different cars and behind it is the self driving car. Say one of those things falls off in, into the way of the self driving car. That self driving car. Now to make a decision, should it go left or right? And it could say, oh maybe it's a person on a motorcycle wearing like a helmet or it's like a family in like a normal vehicle.

Okay.

And it has to swerve each way. Which way does it go?

[Zane]

The, the, the van, so why wait?

So but it would have to be programmed to be able to make decisions like that and assess the situation to know which one would cause less damage.

So that's what I, I get program.

Now for any of us as humans, it's a gut reaction. We wouldn't in. We wouldn't even have time to process in our moment going, you would swerve whatever way and it would be a total accident on whoever you did hit.

But you're not like, yeah, if this is fully scanning and fully aware of the moment, does it now go, well, that's four people. I'd rather accidentally kill one person than killing four people.

This is off topic. I started listening to this podcast that I heard about and y'all, I'm, I'm trying, I'm keeping an open mind to it, but it's been kind of blowing my mind. And you know what? I could be wrong about this. So there's this podcast out called Telepathy Tapes. Okay, okay. And it started in like September. And there's this journalist out there, this like filmmaker, documentarian who found this woman who's been conducting studies with non verbal autistic.

Oh, my friend just told me about this last night. Oh, yes, yes, just told me about it last night. And I was like, no, I mean it's. I think it's brilliant. I didn't hear it though.

[Ryan Seacrest]

So this. So this journalist documentarian found out that this woman's gonna be conducting the study. And families of parents of these kids who are non verbal autistic across the world have been claiming that their child can read minds, that they know what the parents are thinking, they know what their friends are thinking. And she, in just episode one, she reaches out to this woman who's conducting study and she says, well, there's this girl down in Mexico whose parents say that she can like read her mind or whatever. I'll pay for the study if you guys come together and we'll conduct it. So they came out here to Glendale, got an Airbnb in a house they'd never been before, and they do multiple studies. Like they do a random number generator and have the mom with like a whole partition, like a divider in between them, full, you know, hardcore blindfolds on like the daughter and do three different number digits, like 6, 4, 8, and the. And the number 6, 4, 8 can read the mom's mind. Then they blindfold the, the daughter, the non verbal girl, and give her a whole bunch of different colored popsicle sticks, like red, yellow, blue, green blindfold, and tells her to put them into separate piles. She does all of them perfectly, perfectly accurately. Gives her a book, a book written by her dad, a book that is like not even like published or you can't even get access to this book. Tells her to like pick a word on a page. The non verbal girl is able to Guess the word. Every single time she goes to another family, same thing. Their kid can do this ability.

And so I.

But the, these people just believe that their kids had this telepathic ability. But there's some people who are going, this is total mumbo jumbo. This is like a hoax. This isn't real. But then I'm like, who are these parents then who are able to like con everybody else and get their non verbal autistic child?

It's just what you said to me is either process as complete gibberish, or if there are multiple other sounds in a small area, I input them all in the same volume. The TV is the same volume as a dishwasher, which is the same volume as a dog scratching her back, which is the same volume as what you just said to me. It's sometimes impossible to soar unless I am looking at your face as you speak to me.

Like, and it looked the same. It's a whole controversy around it.

Basically. What happened? Yeah, this girl's like, I'm about to get married in like 30 sec. 30 minutes and I'm washing off all my makeup and she washes all off.

It was very minimal makeup, too. It looks nice, natural, kind of rude.

Like the, The. Her tone and her energy doing it. And then the girl who was the makeup artist, like, followed up with the video, which was just the best video ever. Just a class action.

I also felt really bad for, like, why would you post that?

Why would you set up the. Like, if you're in such a rush and it's so important, why would you set up the phone and make it a point? Like, I'm taking this all off. Like, that's. It's rude.

Yeah. If, like filming it and posting it was, like, definitely off. But when I was seeing her, like, frantic. I did feel bad for like, the, The. The. What do you call the bad, like, the feedback or the, the response? The response. Because it is her wedding day and I'm sure, you know, people turn into. People turn gross on their wedding day. If they're like panicking, they become their worst self. So I understood. Like, I was like, damn, that sucks. But like she did like put that phone down and film everything. So it's like she was almost like.

You have every right to wipe off your makeup. I think just like sharing it is just a little like, what are you trying to say? Is this relatable? Sure. But it like, like, I don't know, someone's like career is like behind that too. It just seems a little like rude.

Even though you're paying the person, it's just rude.

Did you see the one of the bride who was like, I don't hate my mother in law, but I'm whatever. And it was like her husband and his mom, the mom like walked him like down the aisle and like held him and like kissed him on the mouth. And then like was like. It was like this crazy thing and the mom was wearing like a split dress like up like yo. The comment and. But it is crazy that this like bride posted this like especially like a newlywed like you. It's crazy viral on Tick Tock right now. And I can't even imagine the conversations between the family behind the scenes.

That's just so embarrassing.

All the comments and a guest like filming that and being like.

All the comments were like, girl, if you didn't post the picture of them kissing on the mouth, I would not have believed you. Oh my gosh, dude. I'm like, oh, dude, that's.

It's crazy that like this happens still on wedding days. Like you can't just like leave shit aside for one goddamn day. Just. Just make it a perfect for one day.

[Heath]

It has to be about everybody.

[Zane]

It doesn't seem like they were saying. It seems like the, the mom wanted to marry the son more than then. She wanted to let her like you marry her son. Like, dude, it was. The mouth kiss was out of pocket.

I was at a wedding one time and it was like the rehearsal dinner and like the parents of the groom were like divorced and you know, like that's when like the, the parents like will get up and like speak and like the dad gets up and just was like speaking about like love and everything. And like his ex wife just like got up and just like walked away. Like couldn't listen to him talk about.

[Zane]

Because it was like.

Yes, but it was so awkward. Were like Wait, what?

What was she doing there?

[Ryan Seacrest]

Because it was the. The. The mom. The mom of the groom. His parents were divorced, but, like, it would be like if your dad got up and was, like, speaking about, like, how happy he was. Your mom was just like, nope, I'm not listening to this.

It was too much of, like, a statement where everyone was just like, okay, like, the mom could have just like, chilled out.

This happened years ago.

Over the break, I did like, my whole family tree and brought it back to, like, the 1700s.

Yeah, it's wild. Sometimes we still don't know the story. Is it, though, behind why these people make moved, you know? So was it. Was it for a job opportunity? Was it for love? Was it. Yeah, something that. What got them there? That's never really green, Claude. Yeah, you never know.

What's really cool is, like, somebody somehow related by whatever. I got connected to their family tree and they have pictures of my grandpa's grandpa. So I was showing my grandpa those pictures and he was like, this is crazy.

It's crazy.

Yeah, that's wild.

It's so cool.

[Ryan Seacrest]

We, like, picture in our house of, like, our ancestors from, like, I think it's early, early 1900s, maybe like late 1800s, but them just in front of like, an old school, like, photograph just like, of them, like, standing outside their, like, barn house.

[Mariah]

Yeah. My mom has all those pictures.

[Ryan Seacrest]

It's just wild knowing those are, like, my descendants and that they're still hung up in our house. House now over a hundred years plus after, like, hopefully, maybe I'm on the someone's wall a hundred years in the future that they just want to, like, have that image on the wall.

[Heath]

Yeah, but.

[Zane]

Except it's not like that. It's more like.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Yeah.

[Heath]

I think the reason that they always have, like, that stone face is because of how long it took to take a picture.

[Mariah]

Yeah, they had, like.

It wasn't just like a snap.

It was like a full minute open.

Exposure for a minute. Had to sit still.

And was it just, like, not cool to smile in photos?

You had to stand there for like a minute.

So I think they were just.

And that's why their eyes are so.

Gosh, it's not like us now if someone pulls out a camera, you immediately.

Like, yeah, back then they just had 100 yard stairs like, or just like they'd seen so much people die.

I have a quick crazy Small world store story. So the house that my grandmother grew up in is in Brooklyn. And me and my mom, when we go to Brooklyn, we'll just like stop by all the houses and all the family history, whatever. So there's a picture of my grandma out in front of the house. So we went and recreated the picture, whatever. So this house was built in the 20s and my grandmother grew up there. And a few years ago, maybe like five years ago, my mom in Pennsylvania, she started, she does like multiple jobs, whatever she could get her hands on. She started cleaning this woman's house and babysitting her kids. And she met the grandmother of that household and she had an accent. She was like, oh, where are you from? And she said Brooklyn. She goes, oh, so are we like what part? They start honing on and on like where she's from and she zones in on my grandma's street.

[Heath]

They were, they lived in the same.

[Mariah]

House, in the same exact, exact house.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Whoa.

[Mariah]

She said the address and they were like, wait, what? And they don't even know each other.

[Heath]

And they randomly met this family in.

[Mariah]

Pennsylvania like the middle of the. So my mom's like, what the heck? And they're like, they're not the same age. They're maybe like 15 years apart. My grandma's older than this woman, but she got them connected and they were going back and forth and my grandma was like, yeah, we lived there these years. She said the bakery next door I would go to every day cuz I had a crush on the owner. And this woman goes, that's my dad. So the owner of the bakery is this woman's father. My grandma had a crush on him. So when my grandma moved out of that house, this woman's family, she wasn't even born yet. This woman's family moved in then she was born in that house. Crazy.

[Ryan Seacrest]

That is.

[Mariah]

Thank God we found that out before. Not that it's like a very important thing, but it's cool to know. Before my grandma passed, like they were able to like connect the dots and stuff. It's insane.

[Heath]

In the same house, had a crush on this lady's dad who was the Baker Neck. Like that's, it's insane.

[Ryan Seacrest]

And then it's like crazy.

[Mariah]

80 years later. No more than that. 90 years later.

[Ryan Seacrest]

It just reminded me of a story. I'm not. I'm just. I'm not making it back about me. I'm just, like, relating to it.

Matt. I was in college and I was at, like a. Just like, hammered, talking people. Hey, where are you from? And it was some other person brought this other girl there at the party, and I was talking to her. I was like, where are you from? She's like, I'm from Grand Prairie. And I go, my dad's from there. And she was like, oh, it's crazy. Yeah, my parents are from there. My grandparents are from there. And I go, my grandparents are from Grand Prairie. I've always been from there. And she was like, oh, well. I go, well, what's your grandmother's name? And she, like, says it. And I go, I'm just going to text my dad right now to see, like, if he would know. And I texted him, like, hey, do you know this girl? Deirdre? I think that was the girl's name, but her grandmother, it's so and so. And my dad's like, yeah, that was your grandmother's best friend. And then. Then sends, like, a photo of my grandmother, like, and her. And then I like, and I show, and this all happens at the party. And we're like, what? We couldn't believe it. They were best friends, hung out all the time.

Like, the heck.

[Zane]

The fact that he was able to get a picture so quick. Yeah, that's insane.

[Ryan Seacrest]

Yeah, that's pretty crazy. And we were just like, unbelievable.

[Mariah]

Like, such a. Such a stickler on taking pictures of everything and, like, getting them printed out and having them all organized. Because in moments like that, you could just pull from it and be like, this is it. It's really. It's the coolest thing in the world. It's so fun.

[Zane]

Yeah, we. I don't have moments like that ever.

[Heath]

You don't talk to people to find.

[Zane]

No, no, there's just. No, no, we have no pictures. No, no, like. Like, I have no pictures. I have no old.

You might have a bag of unseen film randomly in your mom.

No, no, I've seen all the pictures that we have.

No, they have nothing. My mom and dad don't have anything.

I thought there was nothing until this last trip. And then my mom pulls out, like, and we just started.

Oh, Ella's dad was like, talking to McLean one time and was like, mclean, where are you from? And she was like, oh, well, yeah, I think she's from, like, New York State. New York or whatever. And he goes, really? He goes, wait, what's your last name? And she's like this. And he goes, is your dad. Or he goes, do you know this guy who had feral something? Feral? She goes, yeah, that's my uncle. And he goes, so your dad is this guy? And she goes, yes. And he goes, yeah, I was. They went to college, apparently together and lived on the same dorm room floor and were best friends all throughout, like the. The 80s. You never heard this story maybe butchering it, but you got to ask Ella and McLean the story. And then McLean FaceTimes her dad, or maybe it was her uncle, but with Eliza goes, hey, Mike wants to say hi. And he's just like, how are you, mate? And they're like, oh, my gosh, what are you doing? What the hec each other for years. Years. Ella and McLean. And it's weird because Ella's dad is like, from, like, Europe and is like.

You know, invisible string theory is. Wow, crazy.

[Zane]

That's incredible.

You gotta. I'm maybe butchering the whole connection. They paint the story is.
