Welcome to another episode of Add to Cart. I am your Auntie Cuckoo.
A
And I'm your other auntie, Suji Park. Wow. Summer. Here we are.
B
Here we are.
A
Are you going on any big trips this summer? Are you doing a lot of little trips with your gal? No.
B
Well last month at the time it's recording, it's forthcoming, but end of May going to Minnesota for a week and then cause Scott's on tour, Comedy Bang Bang tour and he's gonna stop there. So I was like oh okay, let's just try to get a family trip in there as well. And then there were There were kind of murmurs and attempts at possibly going to London for like 10 days before his UK tour. And by the time we settled on dates and. And he confirmed his dates, I looked at the flights, they were so expensive. And I was like, oh, like the glamour of, like going to London and going to the parks with a three year old, like completely like cracked and fell to the ground because it was like, no way. Like, like, I'm not spending that much. It's gonna be excruciating if I don't, like, spend that much. And I was like, okay, we'll figure something else out. Where are you going? What are your. You always travel.
A
I know. And I'm not. Oh, I don't have any travel plans this summer. I gotta tell ya, last summer, doing Korea with my poor baby gal and having pneumonia pretty much nipped that taste in my mouth.
B
Okay, so it sounds like in our last two recordings, we need to just develop new tastes.
A
Now, lest anyone think that I need more help than is necessary, I did just yesterday before we sat down here, click Purchase trip. Just me and my girlfriend Kathy, who you haven't met.
B
But is famous.
A
But is famous. My fancy friend. And we go into Japan.
B
Oh, hell yeah.
A
In November. So I have that to look forward to. But I needed to push that out. I needed to get through summer. Cause I was like, you know what? We'll do little road trips. Maybe I'll sneak in a trip to New York if I'm feeling it. And then the kids end up school. And so I have to be around for that. So. Really. And then, God forbid I miss Mike Bender's tent pole holiday. Halloween.
B
Halloween. Say it together now.
A
I mean, what a joke. I have to plan my big international annual trip somewhere between school, Halloween. It sounds mildly abusive to say for me.
B
I know that he loves it. I guess I didn't know it rose to that level because I see what he's up to.
A
It's number one.
B
I guess I'm a little perplexed.
A
Yeah. Even coming from a. You're a Halloween queen.
B
I mean, I'm not. I'm like, since Emmy has you truly
A
set up a pumpkin patch in your backyard one year.
B
Well, that was about her.
A
No, that's what I mean, was it not? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
You know, it was about her. And now I've come to really enjoy it. Because of her, of course.
A
And that's.
B
But I've seen his setup and I.
A
And it's not even the setup. And by the way, he's been doing this since before kids told you the story of, like, when we were dating and he was so excited to pass out candy, and I was like, that's weird. Like a single guy, he was out in the street being like, hey. I was like, no. I was like, that is. This is a very weird guy. And I don't know if this is gonna last. And it didn't. Not because of Halloween, because I was 25. But anyway, so.
B
But it did. Because you're married.
A
Because then I turned 35. And that guy who loved Halloween and kids at 25, that gave you the ick. 35. That's your man.
B
Just right. Baby daddy.
A
That's right.
B
My body said baby daddy.
A
Yeah. Yeah. So anyway, so tentpole Halloween. So that I'm, like, out, like, November 2, like, the first flight I can get after Halloween.
B
Well, I like it because that means my Christmas gift is coming from Japan.
A
Correct. Everybody's yes.
B
Then Japan really works out for me.
A
That's what I'm saying. But I did Italy last year at this time. It just adds gasoline to a burning house. Is to add holiday shopping to one of my shopping trips.
B
Sure, sure, sure, sure.
A
Because then all bets are off.
B
Yeah, but you're not doing it with Annie this time.
A
You're right. And that is going to be interesting. This is. This will be my first trip, international trip as an auntie that I have. Poor Annie. Not poor Annie. Annie has so much international traveling because she has all these weddings. And so she was like, I'm so sorry, but the best I could do is 20, 27 February. And I said, I'll take that. And, yeah, hold that. Hold that date for me. Yeah, And I'll do November's, which is kind of like the last time I could really go anywhere internationally.
B
I mean, this is a preview, but this is gonna be an interesting dynamic. As you know, Annie and Suchin are two rats whose tails have been tangled together. So we call that a rat king. Right. And so they scurry together. Kathy's not like that.
A
No, Kathy's fancy. She's gonna wanna stay in a hotel with windows. With windows.
B
She may ask for meals on tables with service.
A
She wanted to go in November because I was like, well, I could do early October. She wants to go November. I mean, hey, you know, I'm open. I. If I'm. A lot of people don't know this, but I'm very flexible. Three pillows, two sound machines, four kinds of earplugs, you know, six different ear coverings.
B
Coverings.
A
I'm so, so loose.
B
So Many socks. There'll be underwear to dispose of.
A
Now, I've got urine bags,
B
but, yeah, flexible can get up and go.
A
I really thought I could say that and pull it off. But I looked at your face and I said, all right, that's enough. That's enough for you. So I am so flexible.
B
But anyway, so.
A
Because she. I can't even say. It's so funny to me. She is hoping that she'll see some sort of foliage change. I don't even know what they call it. I don't know. Some. I don't know if it's. I don't know. It's something.
B
Yeah.
A
And so I'm like. I mean, people go. The people travel halfway around the world to see leaves. And that to me is.
B
Well, again, you and Annie didn't see the beautiful mountain. That was. Thank you. Till the daytime. And that was a fluke. When you did see it, we said, just a couple of bag women holding
A
your wares on the base of a gorgeous mountain. Who knew? I wish I could walk that simple trail. And yet we'll have to do it in shifts, because who's gonna hold all these bags?
B
Yeah. It's so funny. You're like, I wish you literally were there. So she.
A
Yes. And Kathy loves to see. I mean, foliage. She loves a shrine. She loves a reservation.
B
Okay. You know, we're getting ahead of herself. I just. What if we surrendered to it and tried it this way? What do you think?
A
Of course I'm surrendering to it.
B
I'm not gonna.
A
I'm not gonna drag her at the midnight sale looking at kitchen cabinets no one's going to buy. That's not what I'm going to do. I'm not going to take her to a furniture outlet.
B
Well, that's what Annie does.
A
A furniture outlet near Milan. And I'm like, how will you get this giant kitchen cabinet back to New York?
B
I don't know.
A
I just want to look. Opening, shutting. No, she's not doing that. But I'm open. This could be. I mean, who knows? She could unlock another level in this Nintendo game that I didn't.
B
That's right. Another dimension.
A
Another dimension that I didn't know existed. Now, I have traveled with Kathy many times. I know. So I know what the vibe is. I know where the threshold is. And she has seen. She may not know where my threshold is. Because when you're. When you're up higher, your sense of distance is warped.
B
You don't expect someone to want to be that low. Like, you just don't understand that someone would prefer the bottom. Like it doesn't occur to you.
A
Classic story. The first time me, Annie and Kathy traveled to Mexico City, Annie and I had booked our hotel and hotel. Small tiny H in italics with a star, like an asterisk. Okay. And she sort of last minute was like, I wanna come. And for some reason screwed up the dates of her hotel reservation. So she was out that first night, like, didn't have a hotel room. And she's like, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine. I'll just stay at your hotel. And I was like, no. Oh, no, Kathy, I don't know. I don't know what this hotel room looks like because we haven't checked in and we're in the cab on the way to Mexico City and you've just realized that you miss booked your hotel? I don't know, but I'm going to tell you, you're gonna want to check into another hotel. She's like, ugh, girls, it's already so late. It's like midnight. We're gonna be in bed for. I just need a place to sleep for six hours.
B
And.
A
And so, sure enough, any definition in a Fromer's Guide, this is not a hotel. Any definition. First of all, Kathy hates when there's not an elevator.
B
She's got so much luggage. I.
A
If there's an elevator in a hotel and I've walked in, Annie and I are like, wait, hold on, let's check the printout. Price line, itinerary. Are we in the right place? And so that was the first clue. Oh, besides everything else? Besides that we had to go through a locked security gate. Like one of those, like in the driveways. You know how it. Like a, like a security gate that like rolls.
B
Oh.
A
Because the hotel was behind that. Behind. Anyway, so we get up there and immediately she's like, girls, you're not staying here, are you? I'm like, unfortunately. Unfortunately, the class of booking we have is non refundable. And she immediately checked herself into the W nearby, which was like the closest.
B
And you two stayed there the entire trip.
A
And I never showered in my hotel room.
B
It was that bad.
A
It was that bad. And I never took a number two in my hotel room. I do have to say there are three hotels that stand out in my mind. You guys, before you dismiss this whole thing and just turn off and start listening to Joe Rogan, hear me out. Out of all the hotels that I've stayed at, most of them have been fine. But there are three Hotel rooms that stick out. And this was one of them where I'm like, this was a bad choice. And we laugh, and we laugh. We laugh, we laugh, we laugh. Remember when we had to.
B
That's the risk. Right?
A
When breakfast was served on a driveway, cooked on a hot plate in a garage, I said, no, thank you. I will be having the buffet at the Wood. So long story short, Kathy and I are going to Tokyo and then Kyoto in November.
B
Okay.
A
Wow.
B
Let's, let's take a break. Let's take our first break and we'll come back.
A
She needs a break. She needs a break.
B
Sujin is flying high right now.
A
I'm just reporting the facts. That's the crazy thing. It's just, I'm just a newscaster here reporting the facts. Can't make it up. You think I can make that up?
B
Yeah, I guess you're not like trying to put lipstick on a pig. So I appreciate that you are reporting the facts.
A
I'm just giving you the fact that there's no editorializing here. It was a garage. It was a hot plate.
B

And we're back on Add to cart. I'm your Auntie Cuckoo. I'm your Auntie Sisu Sisu Siou. I'll talk about my cart. My cart is labeled animals. It's making me laugh.
A
But also I'm not surprised.
B
Obviously you're not surprised because you I haven't brought it to our listeners, but you've been given a lot of access to the Dr. Dolittle like transformation that's happening over here in my neck of the woods.
A
No, I. But I haven't. We've Only like texted. So we haven't discussed. We haven't discussed. She just like drops bombs of photos and I.
B
You know what I mean?
A
You can only get into it so much like wtf huh? Omg, you know? And then yeah, I'm like, okay, I'm gonna wait till like you listeners until I tune into add to cart to get the full story.
B
I don't even know how it started. Now this. I have been cultivating a relationship with a pair of ravens since last summer.
A
Let's pause. She said, lest you're. Maybe the dishwasher just turned on, it's a little loud. Maybe you turn on the overhead fan. She said, quote, I have been cultivating a relationship, comma with a pair of ravens, underline, since last summer. Continue.
B
Great. I. As you guys know, there are. I live near Griffith park and Griffith park has we. There's a healthy population of coyotes and if they didn't want to eat my dogs, I would be okay with them being in our yard. But they do and they have attack charger ones. So I am always looking for ways to deter coyotes. They're my neighbors. We live next to one another. So then I was fed through my algorithm some crows who basically warned the owner of coyotes coming into the yard. It's as simple as that. And so that's where the idea was born, is that I would feed what I thought were crows at the time and then they would maybe perhaps give me gifts and be sort of guardians of the house, mainly because they're so territorial. Then I realized they weren't crows because they're so big.
A
I'm looking at this photos, you guys. I'm looking at this photo and this is like the size of your dog.
B
Yeah, maybe bigger.
A
These things are bigger than Molly for sure. Massive. Massive.
B
Massive.
A
Yeah. Bigger than her dog.
B
Yeah. Yes. And so how could I feed them? Well, I need to get an offering tray. So I got an offering tray and I went to Costco and I bought a five pound bag of peanuts, shelled whole peanuts. And so began this relationship.
A
Now wait, what is an offering tray?
B
Well, that's what I call it, but it's just hit the link and it's a way to feed them.
A
Okay. It's a bird feeder, but in this case and in Coo's case, it's an offering tray to the gods. Yes, the raven gods.
B
Yeah, it's actually a pretty gorgeous brass tray.
A
You filled it with peanuts with their shells on. And this is because you. You want this pair of ravens to mark their territory. If you Will on your house, hoping that they will warn you when there's a coyote.
B
That's how it began. And then we began to like each other for who we are. These are how things start. You know, it's like at the beginning of a rom com. You think it's one way. You think it's sig, but then it's zag, and then you fall in love.
A
Are you gonna have a raven, baby?
B
No, no. They're wild creatures. And if you guys have been following me.
A
But it's the same pair of ravens.
B
Yes.
A
Oh, my gosh.
B
There's a bunch in the neighborhood. But it's the same pair that come to me now. I'm more. Less their master and more their bitch. It's been calm lately, but in. There'd be times when they would literally, like, behind me is a fireplace, and one or two of them would land up there and just literally call for their peanuts or whatever. Whatever I may give them. Yeah. And we're off peanuts now. We finally finished that bag. They get dog food, they get various nuts. But they really love what I call a high value treat, which is eggs. I put out two raw chicken eggs. Not every week, but often. And that's where they go bananas.
A
I love them. Okay, are we. Are we getting close to the ravens physically?
B
Oh, no. I mean, well, I guess you can't see how I'm situated, but just to give you a sense, they're through the window.
A
They're. Yeah, yeah.
B
And so, yeah, if I open the door, they're gonna fly off, like, and that's the way we should be. Like, I don't expect to have them on my shoulder, but you're not gonna
A
be mad if one day a friend of yours sees you flying through the skies harness to a pair of ravens, like the goddess that you are?
B
Look, if that were to happen, I would have ascended. I mean, whatever happens to me after that, it's because I'm Icarus and I flew too close to the sun. That's beyond my imagination.
A
And I mean, these are big enough to.
B
They're huge. Yeah.
A
Strap on a, you know, harness.
B
Flew by. They're with me. They have given me gifts. They're usually garbage, confusingly sometimes. One time it was like a day later, it was the egg shells.
A
Oh, they brought them back for you.
B
Yeah. Well, that's like returning back to the restaurant with the to go box.
A
And they're like, fill it, bitch.
B
I'm like, okay, sure. I've gotten bones. I've gotten a literal bird head.
A
Pleased A mummy.
B
Mummified bird head.
A
Little goth coo is so pleased.
B
It's not dark to them. It's probably very sweet to them, but. And I posted it on my stories. It just. How do you put it? Pieces of a squirrel corpse.
A
You got to text this to Mahondra. Has Mahondra reached out to you?
B
No. Mahendra is well aware of what's happening. Well aware. She. She's. She's really locked in. She knows. She knows what I. What I'm up to.
A
This is right up her alley. Yeah. Both of you.
B
Yeah. And often, you know, I also. Littler birds will come, and then also squirrels come to that offering tray. So then I was like, why not? Why don't we expand the love? Okay. So then if you scroll down, I got a bird feeder from Marshalls. It's perfect. It's matte black, it's solar powered. I have a photo of it right now. Empty. I need to fill it with birdseed. And I noticed both ravens and the squirrels were also interested in that. So then I was like, oh, you know, the squirrels deserve their own. The squirrels deserve their own situation. Right. And if you recall, when we did our live show in Santa Barbara, we had the guests Paul F. Tompkins and Janie Tompkins. And Paul brought an item, an add to cart that you were so disgusted by. And it was a squirrel feeder that looks like a picnic table and it has an umbrella so that they may sit there and dine. I have purchased that.
A
Is this squirrel dining there actually your photo? Yes. I thought this was the stock photo from the website that they're selling.
B
No. To my left, I'm looking. I get to look at ravens. To my right, near the front door, I get to look at these squirrels. These fat old squirrels. Sometimes they sit on the bench like they're having.
A
Like they're having a picnic. Now he's got. Paul's got a camera. Did he have a camera? I thought he had a camera. He has some kind of camera because I remember standing, seeing some kind of footage. So you're.
B
This was a pandemic activity for him.
A
You're just a half step and a skip away, aren't you?
B
No, I can literally see them. Like, I. What? I what? I'm telling you that I. That's from my office. I literally can. If I open this window right now, I can see. I don't need a camera when they're. It's in my front door. It's set up in my front. By my front door there. I'm with These animals, everybody in this house is getting fed. Suchin is my point to you. Is my point to you.
A
In our last episode, we talked about how these wonderful discoveries were happening and these adventures and all from the comfort of her own home. She's not leaving. She is now on this episode, just burrowing deeper. Now the animal kingdom shall reap the benefits. And she will once again be resting in her home as this happens around her.
B
I mean, I'd like to be friends with the coyotes. It's just, it's tricky. I have to haze them from my. From my land so that they won't eat my small dogs. But if I could trust that, I would offer them one of these fat
A
squirrels sitting on that bench.
B
No, no, no, no. We can't. Everyone's protected.
A
Well, I mean, sounds like a real menagerie you've gotten going.
B
It's a real menagerie estate. It's true. It's true. Okay, the last thing before we get into your cart is another thing that I was a gift to me. And I really want to gatekeep it, but it's too good. It's just too good. And this was given to me by my niece, Dana. Dang. It was a late Christmas gift and I had seen it and I was thinking about gifting it for a friend. But the joy that I felt when I opened is from the brand Stod Sutran. I'm sure you're familiar with the brand Staad. And it is. So they have some custom hand painted personalized items that you can purchase with your pet's likeness on their site. You're frozen. You can't see the soochen. But this is a photo in a pouch painted with my dearest, my dearest little doggies. The ones whom I protect from the coyotes, Molly and Georgia.
A
Wait, someone, an artist painted that from Staad. I mean, that wasn't like.
B
So it's Staad and then it's like a collab with somebody who hand paints it so it. By the way, it takes longer because of that, but boy, oh boy.
A
Holy moly.
B
A great gift. What a great gift for your animal lover. Any pet, you know, any pet only up to two dog. Up to two creatures, though.
A
Yeah, nobody get me one of those with Cosmo on it, though. Wow, that is, I mean, hitting it out of the park. When you guys see a photo of this, it's such a gorgeous camel leather pouch. And then on it is beautiful painting.
B
I mean, why wouldn't I use this as a clutch? You know what I mean, even if that's not what it's intended to be, it should be.
A
Yeah, that shouldn't be left inside, you know, a suitcase. It needs to be seen.
B
Needs to be seen. And they're wearing their, like, Christmas finest. They're wearing a sweater and they're wearing her little reindeer ears. But you can. It's year round. It's not just seasonal.
A
No, it's. I mean, absolutely stunning.
B
Right?
A
Yes, stunning.
B
I know. You're putting it in your list of things to precious people, aren't you now? Aren't you now? Okay, we're gonna take a break and we'll be back with Auntie Sue's cart.
A
This is not a scare tactic, so just stay with me. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women. And while I feel totally fine, I kind of want to take better care of this sweet body of mine. And here's something I just learned. Feeling fine and actually being fine are not the same thing when it comes to your heart. Most of us get the basic cholesterol check at our annual physical and call it a day. But there's a whole layer of information that the standard test just doesn't give you. Things like whether the particle in your blood are quietly building up over time, or if there's hidden inflammation or maybe a genetic risk factor your doctor isn't thinking about. But it all matters. This is why function just makes Sense. They offer 160 plus lab tests a year so you can actually see the full picture, not just the basics. And we're back on Add to cart.
A
I'm Cuckoo and I'm Susu. So mine is an open cart, but it's a specific Etsy cart and it's a specific summer cart. So you know, these are things that have been on my list and I thought, oh, I'll share these. We're now full swing into summer. I'm sure you know, you've got trips planned and I've got you covered head to toe.
B
Wow. This is a service.
A
Yeah.
B
I was thinking the other day because I saw a photo of when you did a cart like dressing me for a party, for a holiday party and wherein I got that Showstopper capelet.
A
Yes, I remember.
B
So this is like a version of this. So I'm seated and I have my
A
pencil on and I have to say, you know, inadvertently, for some reason I had you in mind. Some of these things.
B
Oh my.
A
You will love.
B
Oh my.
A
So the first thing I'm going to add to cart is a caftan. There's a million caftans on Etsy. There's a million caftans in the world. However, this particular caftan. Please explain the colorway. It's just like one notch chicer than your typical summer caftan.
B
I see. This is a floral block Print cotton caftan. It's like an Indian kimono dress. It looks very classy. It's. I would say the background color is sort of an ivory oatmeal and then it's red and black. Yes.
A
So I just thought, I was thinking about, you know, I like it when things just work a lot for you. So you can wear this during the day, but then you can dress it up. And if you've got a little dinner on one of your summer getaways, this caftan would work.
B
Yeah. This for me, I would say, is a. Is an add to cart. Yeah, this is an add to cart. What a steal.
A
Thank you.
B
At 28 and 40 cents, it's 60 off. Hopefully it remains on sale by the time this airs.
A
And with that, I picked out some jewelry. And this is from an Etsy seller that I just. I just, I love their stuff. Wow.
B
Wow. This is a buffalo bone bangle bracelet with gemstones. These are thick, thick bangles is a bangle of ethically sourced natural buffalo horn bone. And you can choose from various gemstones. Malachite, lapis, black onyx, tiger eye turquoise.
A
It's giving mature woman. It's not dangly, sparkly. This is like a vintage. It looks like an heirloom piece. It's classic. You know what I'm saying?
B
I do, yeah. I do. But it also is fun.
A
It's also very fun. And speaking of fun, from the same vendor are a pair of black and white earrings. Go ahead and describe them.
B
These are handcrafted pearl heart stud earrings with a tiger eye accent. They're big and chonky. $23.76 on sale at this time. The bangles were $20$, by the way.
A
You guys, are you listening? Okay, so again, adding a little whimsy, I thought a little heart for you. You know, black and white.
B
That's very chic, very me, very you.
A
You know, again, you can dress it up, dress it down. It goes with the bangles. You see what I'm doing here?
B
Yes. This is a full outfit. Speaking of full outfit, let's move on to this black onyx baroque pearl choker. Oh, this is very beautiful. Very classy. This is also something that could go off theme. You could wear this. This absolutely goes with this outfit. But you could, you could wear this with a T shirt.
A
I mean, I hope that it. You could. All of these will last you. I mean, you know, that's the whole point of this. I was trying to think of things that, yes, are perfect for summer, but then can be day can be night, can be fall, can be spring. Yeah, this is. I love pearl, but I'm really into this black kind of pearl vibe. And so I thought that cute little necklace with your hair now in this sort of like Peter Gallagher. Peter Gallagher. As you said, peak Peter Gallagher.
B
Yes, yes.
A
It just felt like. Felt elevated, felt grounded, you know, but still playful because it has a little bit of pearl still in it has a gold accent. Anyway.
B
And you can get this in. I said choker, but you can get this in a variety of lengths.
A
And you're going to need a bag. And this one is a very simple one, and you can get it in a variety of colors. I just was looking for a very easy, breezy summer bag. It's a macrame market bag with, like, a cotton insert.
B
Yes, I see.
A
It goes to the beach, it goes to dinner.
B
I don't have anything like this. It's really. Yeah, this is $55.8. 10% off right now.
A
How much room will this take in your suitcase? About as much as a thong. And when you're traveling and doing that sort of thing, think about that. You know, you're trying to think about bags and things that fold down.
B
And so I thought this very boho. It's very, like, beachy, you know? This is so nice. I actually even like it in black.
A
Yeah, the black, obviously, for you. I like the red. I thought maybe that could be a nice pop of color. But the black, then. Then you're getting more use out of it.
B
The red is very nice.
A
And the final thing, you need shoes on your little tootsies there.
B
I'm not wearing those Chanel monstrosities. Those. That clickbait, that rage bait. You silly, silly Chanel.
A
I mean, I'm not gonna say no to that. This is not Chanel.
B
If given to me, of course I would take it. I'm not purchasing it. I don't aspire to have it.
A
You Chanel clickbaity saleswoman just selling your wares to every. Anyone. Anyone with a bag of gold. So these are very.
B
You know, this is interesting because I'm hitting this link, and what it's taking me to is the Soochin Poc store. Is that. What is this really? This is. Yeah, it's sending me to a link to your account. Like, what's happening right now.
A
It's very private. Please don't look in my Etsy account when I tell you. I mean, what am I, heartless? Wait, let me see what's going on. Did they just let you in? Lord, have Mercy.
B
It's showing the shops that you follow. Wow. Wow.
A
That is intimate.
B
Let's not.
A
Let's not give that away.
B
Let's change the link on that.
A
Yeah. How did that even. I didn't even know that was even possible. So these are Greek leather flats from Greece. And they just. There's something about them. It's not like a thong slipper. I can't get down with that. But it's not a chunky Chanel Velcro pearl studded sandal. She lies betwixt the two. I would say this is more of a. If you're into it, the row.
B
Yeah.
A
You know, more of like an understated silhouette. Again, it's black. You're not strapping up to your knees.
B
Not creation like that.
A
We're not in that area. I mean. Yeah, listen, we all had. We all were there once.
B
Oh, gosh. Than I should have been.
A
Yes. This is the time, you know, that we're. This is where we're at. It's an understated elegance. I just like them. There was nothing kitschy about it. Timeless. And that's my, you know, open cart for a summer in Greece with ku. It's my fantasy.
B
I mean, I love that when you think me and you are going to go on a trip.
A
Oh, that's going to have to be paid for you. For you. I speak for you. Someone's going to have to pay cut a check for you to travel with me.
B
Why? Why? It'd be a live recording.
A
You know why?
B
You talk about investigative reporting. Oh, my God. To be in my own Sioux safari.
A
Well, let's say it shan't be more than 48 hours. I shan't do that to you. It's enough.
B
It's 48 hours and I wasn't there. But what I always go back to is a scene that you painted for me was when you and Criselle were in that beautiful hotel that she always stays at. God, you know, iconic.
A
It was like in Sex in the City. Right, right.
B
Yeah.
A
French hotel.
B
You're sharing a room and she's getting ready.
A
Yeah, that's right.
B
And you're getting ready, too. And you. And she gets to just have an eye full of veteran journalist Su Chin Pak wearing a bra and an Amazon
A
dicky
B
who's there for fashion week?
A
Criselle, who. Who clips her toenails with Givenchy clippers. You know, they, like, make things for her that you can't even purchase on the wild market. She doesn't even know that Chanel doesn't Make Q tips. Okay, everybody is that she lives in luxury. Just all she knows. She. It's like she. It's not like she seeks it out. It is just the fishbowl that she lives in. Imagine she looks over, she swings her head, swings her this away, and I'm getting ready for a very expensive meal downstairs that. It's like some crazy 18 course meal and such.
B
And Pac goes, I'm gonna put on my good Dickie. And she's like, this one's got rhinestones on it.
A
Is that. Is that a shirt or it's. Is that a tie, m'?
B
Lady?
A
Neither. M'.
B
Lady.
A
Both.
B
It is.
A
It's both and neither at the same time.
B
It's a contradiction.
A
It is both and neither your TV set is tuned to the correct channel. And she wasn't. She is so. She's like the most kind of blase, non judgmental because, you know, when it's,
B
you know, she just wanted to know.
A
No, she was like. No, she was like, do I need to put eye drops in? Like, am I not seeing the rest of the shirt? Like, maybe it's like a. Wait, is it like a silk tulle sleeve that like for some reason in the light. Is it?
B
Yes.
A
Is it? No.
B
Criselle. It's not magical in any way.
A
I just have to.
B
This was not featured in Harry Potter. No, no, no. Excuse me. I put my arm, my hand through the armhole. It's not even a hole.
A
It's a strap. Strap connected.
B
Can we strap that to my dicky?
A
It's like. No, it's like a Willy Wonka. It's like a Willy Wonka tour.
B
It's like a.
A
The magical disappearing shirt. You know that the longer you stay in the chocolate factory.
B
So different from. I don't know if you guys are familiar. It's almost picturing the sort of elastic that like a child puts on, like fairy wings. Like, you know, those cheap fairy wings. It's not unlike that.
A
It's all those and neither of those. It's betwixt.
B
It's betwixt. It's bewitchingly betwixt.
A
Title of ep we got to at the last minute. But yes. Oh, my God. Dying, dying, dying. I didn't even unpack on that trip because where would I put my things? Next to her Givenchy blazer.
B
Would have loved to see that. On the hanger.
A
Next to her, my Amazon crystal Dicky. Next to her Givenchy. I'm like, oh, no, I'll just keep it in the suitcase. Just rooting through all The Parisian Target socks and homewares to then fish out.
B
Pull that out, pull that out of the net.
A
It's like a. It's like a fingerless glove for your neck.
B
And let me tell you.
A
And all of that is fine.
B
But again, we have to circle back to what she wears, what she's seeing.
A
Correct. And she may have said, huh, avant garde. She may have said, oh, she moved that Berlin designer in some.
B
Yes. But then you put on a heavy
A
wool sweater and my thick wool socks with guaranteed for life criselle. Did you know that you get a hole in these? And guess what? I send them back. She's like, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Wait, why would you. How do you get a hole in for life? How do you get a hole in a sock? You just wear it. You just wear them morning and night. Cigarettes.
B
You wear them out. Crystal. You wear them out.
A
Yeah. And I love that. That is the image that my travels have conjured up for you, for our partner family. It's a gift to me too, because set it and forget it. Forgot all about that.
B
God, I'll never forget. And I was not there.
A
God, I'm a middle aged woman, you
B
know what I mean?
A
Because can you imagine if I still could get embarrassed?
B
Yeah. If your cheeks could still be rosy from those paths from the past.
A
Imagine the trauma. And yet.
B
Imagine.
A
And yet a fingerless glove for my neck.
B
We're gonna end this podcast and then it is time. But a couple of updates. Do you still fuck with a Dickie? Are you still dickying? I love a Dickie.
A
You dick down still. I love a Dickie. Anytime I scroll and I see some sort of new kind of like thing on a dickie, I'm clicking all the way to the link shop. Now. Let me see in the shop. Let me see what you got.
B
Let me see. Let's see what's up. Yeah, I'm trying to think.
A
Have I even purchased it? I mean, I purchased so many dickies that, you know, I have a dicky for every occasion, so I don't need more dickies. But if there was a dickie that I needed, I hesitate not.
B
Yeah, you jump on it. Yeah, but you have your own. You have a collection.
A
Yeah.
B
And you have.
A
And much like I brought you urine technology that is shirt technology that maybe not everybody has encountered and or committed
B
to in such a fashion.
A
Well, when I love something, you know, I buy it.
B
You love it hard. I love it hard. You love it hard.
A
I love it till there's a hole in it. And then I Send it back.
B
Lest we forget, she's a volume shopper.
A
Right. And that also shocked Chriselle. But anyway, that's for another time and another memory.
B
The second update, I would each like us to speak on where we are with the everybody's favorite rubber clog. Where are you with Crocs? We got. We hated them. We went overboard.
A
I'm done.
B
I'm done. I have one ratty pair that it's like to take the dogs out to the front to get some mail.
A
Done. Done. We did a whole episode, and I brought to you the concept of the door shoe, and you can go look that up. And I bought you a pair of CVs. I had a pair of Malibu slides. It's just. I think the Crocs were, like. It was a novelty during a dark time.
B
Yeah.
A
And we just. And it was. It was amazing. And I. And I still love them, and I. And I remember them fondly. But now everyone's doing some version of an easy slip on, you know, from.
B
Yeah.
A
I mean, if, like, the row is doing a jelly sandal.
B
Oh, I know. Yes.
A
You know, and I'm not saying that's where I'm at, but I'm saying, like, for a while, Crocs were the only game in town.
B
I think it's time for me to let go of those healed monstrosities that I have.
A
Oh, my God.
B
A platform. Platform. Sorry, not healed.
A
A platform. I have those.
B
There's a moment in time.
A
Yeah. Moment in time.
B
Moment in time. Thank you for listening to another episode of Add to Cart.

We keep threatening only to ourselves that we'll do some sort of version of a newsletter. And to say it doesn't sound like it, but maybe.
A
Oh, I think once we unleash that newsletter, because there's a lot of you on. I mean, on there. The email list, and. And I see every single one. And I. And I send love as I go through the grid. Every time I see you, your name pop up. It. It's gonna be. It's gonna be profound.
B
It will be. Yeah.
A
It'll be profound. And it'll be worth the wait.
B
Yeah. In some ways, I think this is our version of edging.
A
We've given so many versions of that. And you're welcome.
B
Oh, okay.
A
No, I mean, in good ways. In good ways like we've redefined the term. You know and I think you're right. I think the sweeter the next one.
B
Yeah instead of lazy it's edging. Bye bye.

Hosts: Kulap Vilaysack (“Auntie Cuckoo”) & SuChin Pak (“Auntie Sisu”)
This episode is a classic, laugh-filled Add to Cart conversation between hosts Kulap and SuChin as they navigate summer travel plans, discuss the quirks of vacationing with friends, and take deep comedic dives into current shopping obsessions. With sections covering everything from ravens as backyard animal friends to whimsical fashion finds for the summer, the episode showcases the Aunties’ signature mix of honesty, relatability, and sharp, self-aware humor.
[02:12-09:09]
Big Trips Versus Little Trips:
“When we were dating, he was so excited to pass out candy, and I was like, that's weird. Like a single guy, he was out in the street being like, hey. I was like, no. … That gave you the ick. 35. That's your man.” — Kulap ([05:06-06:26])
Battle of Travel Styles:
“Any definition in a Fromer's Guide, this is not a hotel. … Kathy hates when there's not an elevator.” — Kulap ([12:44-14:06]) “I never showered in my hotel room. … There are three Hotel rooms that stick out in my mind. This was one of them where I'm like, this was a bad choice.” — Kulap ([14:05-14:41])
[35:58-45:44 & passim]
SuChin presents her curated “open cart” for listeners’ summer shopping inspiration, focusing on Etsy finds for a dream “summer in Greece with Ku.” Her philosophy: versatile, chic, and timeless.
Travel Fashion Anecdotes:
“Imagine she looks over… and I'm getting ready for a very expensive meal upstairs… and Suchin Pak goes, I'm gonna put on my good Dickie… It's a fingerless glove for your neck.” — [46:11-47:27]
“The Crocs were, like. It was a novelty during a dark time. … Done. We did a whole episode ... but now everyone's doing some version of an easy slip on.” ([53:01-53:46])
[19:07-31:57]
Kulap details her burgeoning “Dr. Dolittle” phase involving wild animal encounters, especially with a pair of ravens she’s befriended as coyote deterrents:
“I have been cultivating a relationship with a pair of ravens since last summer.” ([20:15]) “Then I realized they weren't crows because they're so big.” — SuChin ([21:47-22:05])
The feeding rituals become increasingly elaborate:
“They have given me gifts. … I've gotten bones. I've gotten a literal bird head. … Mummified bird head.” ([25:32-26:11])
“I have purchased that... Sometimes they sit on the bench like they're having a picnic.” — Kulap ([27:53-28:16])
Gift Recommendation:
“Any pet, you know, any pet—only up to two creatures, though. … Absolutely stunning.” ([31:05-32:25])
“I have to plan my big international annual trip somewhere between school, Halloween. It sounds mildly abusive to say for me.” – Kulap ([04:47])
“A lot of people don't know this, but I’m very flexible. Three pillows, two sound machines, four kinds of earplugs, you know, six different ear coverings… I’m so, so loose.” — SuChin ([08:13-08:45])
“The glamour of, like going to London and going to the parks with a three year old, like completely like cracked and fell to the ground.” — Kulap ([02:19-03:27])
“It’s both and neither at the same time... It’s betwixt. It’s bewitchingly betwixt.” — SuChin ([48:00-48:56])
“One time it was like a day later, it was the egg shells. ... That’s like returning back to the restaurant with the to go box. ... They’re like, fill it, bitch.” — [25:32-25:57]
“The Crocs were a novelty during a dark time. … Done. We did a whole episode … but now everyone’s doing some version of an easy slip on.” — SuChin ([53:01-53:46])
| Segment/Topic | Timestamp | |------------------------------------|-------------| | Summer travels & holidays | 02:12–11:08 | | Mexico City bad hotel story | 11:41–14:41 | | Animal friendships (ravens) | 19:07–31:57 | | Fashion open cart: summer on Etsy | 35:58–45:44 | | Paris fashion Dickie anecdote | 45:31–48:56 | | Crocs & fashion cycles | 53:01–54:11 |
The episode embodies the distinctively hilarious, self-deprecating, and refreshingly honest energy of Kulap and SuChin. From banter about travel with friends (and how expectations collide with reality), to finding joy in animal companionship (ravens, squirrels, and more) without leaving home, to unapologetically embracing both high-low fashion and “Auntie” practicality, the hosts create a space that feels familiar, warm, and a little bit irreverent.
Listeners will walk away inspired to rethink their own “carts,” to find delight in everyday rituals, and perhaps to view both travel and shopping as equally worthy adventures—whether those journeys are across the globe or just to the backyard.
