Culap Vilaisak
So if you're listening to this, you know we're not doctors or healthcare professionals, even though we're always right. Well, Ku and I are each other's therapists in a completely unprofessional capacity, of course. But I'm here to celebrate those who are actually professionals out there doing good every day. Healthcare professionals deserve the best. And the best scrubs are figs. We're not talking boxy, itchy potato sac scrubs that you typically associate with them. Figs are super, super cute and comfortable, made out of these really beautiful fabrics that are somehow both lightweight and breathable, but also really durable and made to last. Now, how do I know this? Well, I'm sitting here in my figs loungewear, a gorgeous plush offshift set in the color sunset drift. Now I have your attention. It's a perfect getaway purchase for us non doctors. And right now, if you enter FIGS RX at checkout, you get 15% off your first order. So you know what to do. Go to WearFigs.com, pick out a pair of incredible scrubs and add to cart. That's WearFigs.com code FIGSRX at checkout. Boy, do we have an incredible ad to queue today. It's a new pod called what We Spend, where each episode a person documents a full week of their lives and all the ways money factors in people.
Sujin Park
From across financial spectrums, from a long haul truck driver to a marketing director, to a teacher's assistant. It's all the ways they make money, spend it, and the emotions they have along the way.
Culap Vilaisak
It is such a fantastic listen. Listen to what We Spend. An Odyssey original podcast, available now wherever you get your podcasts.
Sujin Park
Lemonada.
Culap Vilaisak
Also with that Fire Boy. Wait.
Sujin Park
Welcome to Add to Cart, a show about the things we buy and buy into and what it says about who we are. I'm your Auntie Culap Vilaisak.
Culap Vilaisak
And I'm your other auntie, Sushi Park. It's June. We are marching towards the end of the month. And I hope our guests know the end of our show as we know it. Add to cart in this iteration, in this formation, in this vessel. Yes.
Sujin Park
Will this be our final form? I don't know.
Culap Vilaisak
Perhaps. Most likely. And when Ku and I discuss like, okay, how are we wrapping up the show? Blah, blah, blah. We want to make sure that we leave our carters in the best of hands with such care. We want to make sure our last few shows are. I mean, we want to leave them wanting more. Horny as hell. Yeah.
Sujin Park
Slipping Off.
Culap Vilaisak
Which is why we're bringing you two slippery guests. Let me tell you. You guys, you're welcome. Go ahead, Coop. Bring our guests out.
Sujin Park
Joining us, Joining us are a pair of powerhouses.
Culap Vilaisak
Correct?
Sujin Park
No matter the texture. A lot of people claim to be multi hyphenates, but it's rare to be of this caliber.
Culap Vilaisak
That's right.
Sujin Park
Both of our guests are award winning television creators, executive producers, showrunners, writers, actors, performers. They've done stand up comedy. Have you?
Culap Vilaisak
No.
Sujin Park
I don't know why I'm confrontational right now. This doesn't make sense. But let me hit you across the face with their projects. No good deed. I love that for you. Dead to me and big mouth to name a few. Our guests launched a new podcast together here to make friends. The show focuses on making new and meaningful friendships as an adult. And they invite on guests that they would like to befriend. So please add to cart my friends, Jesse Klein and Liz Feldman.
Culap Vilaisak
Aren't you guys tired? Tired?
Jesse Klein
Oh, my God. Yeah.
Culap Vilaisak
You need.
Sujin Park
You need a lean out. Like doing so much and you're doing it well.
Culap Vilaisak
That's right. You can't expect us to keep up to this.
Sujin Park
Right? I mean, that's why we're out.
Jesse Klein
I'm just so glad that I get to be lumped in with Liz Feldman because I feel like she's really got that shine. And then I. I get to link my heart to her.
Culap Vilaisak
That's how I feel.
Liz Feldman
Every week I'm white knuckling on Jesse Klein's coattails. That's what's happening here.
Jesse Klein
Absolutely not. But I think I can speak for both of us when I say we are so honored to be on these concluding episodes of your incredible pod. At the same time that we're so sad that it's ending, but we also feel confident.
Culap Vilaisak
Oh, yeah. No sad.
Jesse Klein
There will be something even greater.
Culap Vilaisak
No sad. Five years. God.
Sujin Park
No sad.
Culap Vilaisak
This gum has been chewed.
Liz Feldman
Wow.
Culap Vilaisak
Has been sucked dry. Every person listening is like, am I sad? It's okay if you're not sad. Guess what? But go back. Catalog hundreds of episodes. Feel free. So. No. But in all seriousness. Yeah.
Jesse Klein
We hope to one day achieve with our little pod what you guys have achieved with yours.
Liz Feldman
Consider yourselves an inspiration.
Sujin Park
I mean, we'll take it. Cause I need anything, really. And I, you know, and we never.
Culap Vilaisak
Q and I never start anything intending for it to be anything or see the light of day. So it is. It is an achievement to us. Five years.
Sujin Park
We did it.
Culap Vilaisak
We pushed record.
Jesse Klein
You pushed record. You did More than that. And I won't like blow any more smoke, but I truly consider you both icons.
Liz Feldman
Truly.
Culap Vilaisak
Finally someone says it. Great. As we're leaving, this is what I've been begging for.
Jesse Klein
I'll keep saying it, but anyways.
Liz Feldman
Legends of the Pods.
Jesse Klein
Legends of the Pods.
Culap Vilaisak
The next show. Khu and I coming back.
Sujin Park
Okay, there you go.
Jesse Klein
There you are. A long haired Brad Pitt in Legends of the Pods. Thanks for having us.
Liz Feldman
Yes, thank you. And thank you for the lovely introduction and truly big fans of both of you. I, I can't say in person, sue, because I. We don't, I don't know you, but Khu, I spend a lot of time with in person because we, our daughters are best friends. Guys.
Sujin Park
Our birthday twins. Oh.
Jesse Klein
Oh.
Sujin Park
To be best friends. Yes.
Liz Feldman
I mean, they have no choice.
Sujin Park
None.
Liz Feldman
So they're. Yeah. It's in the stars.
Jesse Klein
It's in the stars.
Sujin Park
Tell us about your podcast. Give us the rundown.
Culap Vilaisak
Tell us friendships. Minimum five years. It'll take you five years just to get to scratch the surface of that.
Jesse Klein
I mean, that's one of the things that we do talk about on the pod is the idea of like making friendships at this time of life feel sometimes intimidating or almost impossible because you.
Sujin Park
Have so many people.
Jesse Klein
Vulnerable, for sure.
Liz Feldman
Very vulnerable.
Jesse Klein
But yeah, I think like as Liz says, we're both friendship nerds.
Sujin Park
What?
Liz Feldman
Yeah.
Culap Vilaisak
What does that even mean, huh, Liz?
Liz Feldman
Well, what it means is that both Jesse and I sort of individually have.
Sujin Park
A.
Liz Feldman
Nerds worth obsession with friendship as a topic, but also as a verb and also as an existence of being. And like, we're just both really interested in the mechanics of friendship and the, just like the entire social, you know, importance and structure and all of it of it. I mean like, and when I say nerdy, I mean like, we will talk about it outside of the pod for.
Jesse Klein
Hours, which is how the pod started. And although if you want to take it even further back some. So Liz and I met in 2019 because Liz was the creator and showrunner of a little show on Netflix called.
Culap Vilaisak
Dead to Me about no introduction or definition needed.
Liz Feldman
I appreciate it.
Jesse Klein
And I remember when I saw the pilot for it, or I guess it was the first season had come out, I was just like, this is everything I'm obsessed with. And watching Cardellini and Applegate be these incredible friends, I just was like, I love this show and whoever made this is a genius. And then I was lucky enough to get to meet Liz about writing on season two. And I have to say, like, Liz ran Such a magical writer's room. And that group of, I fair to say mostly women, like we all did become.
Culap Vilaisak
Says no one in Hollywood. I don't think I've heard a story. No, I'm not exaggerating. Ever. Never.
Jesse Klein
No, it was really, really such a reflection of, like, how cool Liz is, how smart Liz is. It's just the truth, Baby Ruth. And so we became really good friends. Um, and it. I don't know, it was just such a, like, nice surprise for me at the age of. What would I have been at the time, 40 something to be like, oh, I feel like I've, like, met someone who I really, like, really love and want to, like, add to my.
Liz Feldman
Add to cart.
Sujin Park
Add to cart.
Jesse Klein
Liz Feldman.
Sujin Park
Add to cart.
Jesse Klein
Hey, Liz, thanks for Sully Sullenbergering that run on sentence right into that's what.
Liz Feldman
I'm here to do, baby. And I'll say that I knew who Jesse was before she came to work undead to me. Our shared manager, Christy Smith, was basically, like, made, like a love connection between us. But I knew who she was from way back when she was running the Amy Schumer Show. Brilliant show. The first time I ever saw her, she was winning an Emmy on my television screen.
Jesse Klein
Hey, Liz. Deep brag, but checks in the mail, honey.
Liz Feldman
Hey, baby, baby. And so anyway, we, Yeah, I. We were just like sort of instant friends in the writers room, and we did make a wonderful group of friends throughout that time and. And the show itself is about making friends. So it just all felt very meta and kind of, I don't know, sort of weirdly magic and organic, but shared, as our people say, big old Jew.
Jesse Klein
Word, but meant to be.
Liz Feldman
Meant to be, meant to be. Look it up in the Yiddish dick.
Culap Vilaisak
The one that's sitting on your shelf. You know that one? Yeah, yeah.
Jesse Klein
Pull your Yiddish dictionary right off where you keep it so close to your laptop.
Sujin Park
That's right.
Culap Vilaisak
No need to dust it off. You just used it this morning. You know you did.
Jesse Klein
Guys, look up the word bashert in your well worn dog ear dictionary that you keep by your bed.
Sujin Park
You already highlighted.
Liz Feldman
That's the kind of current cool references you get on here to make friends.
Culap Vilaisak
Said friend nerd. And you landed the plane. You didn't even know you landed that plane. And there it is. There it is.
Sujin Park
There it is. And there it is.
Liz Feldman
There it is. There it is. There she goes.
Sujin Park
How do both of you. I want to know, and this is an intimate question. I need to know.
Jesse Klein
Ready?
Sujin Park
How do you go about adding to cart and that seems banal, but no. What's your style? How do you do it?
Liz Feldman
I think Jesse should start because she.
Culap Vilaisak
Oh, everybody has a style list. Even if you haven't thought of it and you discover it live here on Add to Cart. We've seen some wild styles come up.
Jesse Klein
Oh my God.
Liz Feldman
By the way, Jesse, yesterday was sort of like telling me like, you have a style. Cuz I was like, I don't know.
Sujin Park
I don't.
Culap Vilaisak
We're going to put a pin in it, cuz. Liz, those are my favorite types of shoppers to have on this show. Cuz I just roll my sleeves up, you know what I mean? I'm in surgical residency here. I can't wait to get my rubber gloves.
Sujin Park
She's on the pit.
Culap Vilaisak
That's right.
Sujin Park
That's right.
Jesse Klein
You're in the pit. You're washing those hands and holding them up.
Sujin Park
She's our doctor.
Liz Feldman
Let me get these feet in this. I want my feet in those stirrups, baby. Let's do it.
Jesse Klein
No. I did creep Liz out yesterday because Liz text. I mean, as I mostly do almost every day. But Liz was like, I can't think of what I like, what I buy. And then literally I like ticked off like the last 10 things that Liz has purchased where I was like almost felt like I have a camera set up in her house.
Liz Feldman
Yeah. Honestly, I was like, are you on my shop app?
Jesse Klein
Like, what is happening, honey? Time to change your shower curtain. Okay, my style. My style as a shopper. And Liz, tell me if this is what you were gonna say. I am a. I would say a high quantity perseverator. Whoa, what dictionary is that in? That's also Yiddish. No, I just, I look at things and it takes like I will have something in cart if it's like a. A purchase that I really care about. I will like think about it for months, if not years and just sort of keep staring at the item and.
Liz Feldman
Possibly sending it to her friends.
Jesse Klein
Sending the link to, I would say a wide circle of people. Should I get this? Should I get this? Do I deserve this? Should I get this?
Sujin Park
Okay.
Liz Feldman
Oh yeah. Oh, major, major. Do I deserve?
Jesse Klein
Do I deserve this? And then finally, after weeks to truly years, I will generally pull the trigger and then the item will arrive and sometimes I'll find out that all I needed to do was touch it and I can just return it. And that was.
Culap Vilaisak
Should we just move in now, Jessie, or do you need more space?
Jesse Klein
Very similar.
Culap Vilaisak
What do you think? Because I. Then you eventually buy it. That's where I generally don't buy it, but then when I do buy it, I touch it and I'm like, okay. The return label is already printed. The boxes, it's got the tape dangling off.
Jesse Klein
See? Well, this is where maybe I diverge from you because I am crippled at the idea of a return. And even though now they make it so easy.
Sujin Park
Jesse.
Culap Vilaisak
I call. I call that my nine to five. She pre returns.
Sujin Park
Sometimes it's really just about.
Culap Vilaisak
Wait, what's a pre return?
Jesse Klein
What do you mean, a pre return?
Culap Vilaisak
Before it even hits my door, I will print out the return label. So it's ready.
Sujin Park
She knew, right?
Jesse Klein
Turned on.
Culap Vilaisak
I'm back in, Right? We're back in. Now we're in the same bed.
Liz Feldman
Holy shit, I'm in.
Culap Vilaisak
That's right.
Liz Feldman
Why are you not the Pope?
Culap Vilaisak
This may take a left turn. Who knows? Maybe I will be. But what I'm saying is that I think it's the very ugly balance of wanting something and the wanting being so satisfying and juicy. That steak is just like, rare and bleeding and pulsing. And then when you put it in your mouth, you're like, it's a bit dry.
Jesse Klein
Yeah, steak's dry.
Sujin Park
Steak's equal. It's right for me.
Jesse Klein
Or it's even just like, oh, it turns out that the real sticking and.
Culap Vilaisak
The fantasizing and who stay. I don't know. Is it good? Is it not good? I go back and forth.
Liz Feldman
Cool. Should we let them just.
Culap Vilaisak
I think I set up the show right at the top. I think the intention was clear.
Jesse Klein
Clear.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah.
Jesse Klein
Okay. Yes. That's. I mean, so. Yeah, that's me.
Sujin Park
Really?
Culap Vilaisak
Liz.
Sujin Park
Liz. I'll briefly insert myself here and just say that if I want it, I buy it. And there you go.
Jesse Klein
And she's.
Culap Vilaisak
She says, I want it. So I'm a little about it. Oh, it's. Wait, I. I think I have that somewhere. And that world. I have stock I couldn't imagine. I know every single. Where every single thing is. Because I've labored over every purchase from $9 to, you know, $900, whereas Koo.
Sujin Park
Oh, no, no. I know where everything is, Sue. And it's beautifully organized.
Culap Vilaisak
But there are times when you're like, oh, I've purchased that.
Sujin Park
But I.
Culap Vilaisak
Well, what I'm saying is. Oh, I've never. I haven't opened it. I haven't used it.
Sujin Park
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because that's part of my stock.
Jesse Klein
But are either of you in the returns hall of Shame with me where it arrives? I'm like, I don't think this is right. And then I am so crippled at the idea of returning it that I procrastinate. And then I realize this, Liz, this is you.
Sujin Park
This is you.
Liz Feldman
This is me. This is why I don't buy that much stuff, because I am so bad at returning. Okay, Truly, I'm. I. It is like a. It is like a block. Like a real.
Jesse Klein
It's like a mention.
Liz Feldman
Yes, it is.
Jesse Klein
But why? Here's. Because here is what returning is. It's printing something out. Although, actually, as I say it, it's looking up an order number. It's finding, which is why I do it.
Culap Vilaisak
When you purchase it, it's already right there at your fingertips. You just cut and paste. As the confirmation email comes in.
Jesse Klein
This is a life.
Culap Vilaisak
Also, you guys, you're missing the whole point of the returns. The printer, the. Who cares? You're making money. I'm sorry, are you guys swimming in swimming pools of money? Do you just have it hanging on your.
Liz Feldman
How are you making money from a return?
Sujin Park
This is Sue's code. Here comes Sue's code. Here comes.
Culap Vilaisak
That's the only way I make money is a return.
Liz Feldman
What?
Culap Vilaisak
You make a return and the money returns.
Liz Feldman
Oh.
Jesse Klein
And then you feel like you made the money. Okay, but it's your money.
Culap Vilaisak
It was your money.
Liz Feldman
Then you.
Culap Vilaisak
Then it became someone else's money.
Jesse Klein
And then when you see that credit hit your heart, it does feel like you're.
Culap Vilaisak
To me, it's about the satisfaction of making money. Now I know that it's not making money. Liz, stop with that face. I'm not talking about math. Talking about the vibe, the energy. Isn't money just energy? What is money but just a. Just an idea that we hold in our hearts together sometimes and apart. Isn't that. That's not in the dictionary, the Jewish dictionary?
Jesse Klein
Liz, here's the thing. If the math isn't Definitely not the Jewish dictionary. No. If the math isn't mathing, it's because.
Culap Vilaisak
No, it's not math.
Jesse Klein
It's not.
Culap Vilaisak
I never said it was. It's not in the math book, but it is.
Jesse Klein
I do 100% understand what you're saying in the same way. And I don't know, I would just lump together in terms of someone who has an equally insane concept of monetary value. Back when I lived in New York City, and I'd go to a bodega if I was gonna buy 50 cents, pack of gum, let's say, I would feel like if I paid for it with 50 cents exactly. Versus paying with a dollar and getting 50 cents back. I would feel like it was cheaper if I paid with the exact 50 cents. Now that does not.
Culap Vilaisak
But it's the energy that we. But it's a feeling that I. Liz is so lost. I can't wait. Liz is like not living in the real world. Okay, go ahead, Liz.
Liz Feldman
Here's the thing. I'm.
Sujin Park
Woo.
Liz Feldman
Man. I'll like, talk about energy all day. You know, Jesse and I recently discussing how I believe the universe is designed by love. So all.
Culap Vilaisak
But this is where you.
Liz Feldman
But. Well, money I take very seriously because. But so do I. Yeah, but bro, like, you're not paying your mortgage with energy.
Jesse Klein
Did you just bro me?
Sujin Park
You got bro.
Culap Vilaisak
She's now switching to her finance podcast. This is like. This is not the friend podcast.
Sujin Park
I will wait. But let's get. Let's. Yeah, yeah.
Culap Vilaisak
Go, go, go, go, go, go.
Sujin Park
I want to hear everything.
Liz Feldman
Okay, here's how I add to Cart. It is one of two ways. Either I also ideate, and if it's a bigger purchase, I'll really think about it for a long time. I almost never ask another person's opinion.
Jesse Klein
Must be nice.
Liz Feldman
Or I'm insanely impulsive.
Sujin Park
Oh, okay.
Liz Feldman
To the point where I don't even necessarily remember going to a fugue state. Yeah, like a 2am Fugue state.
Jesse Klein
Is that an Ambien purchase? Because I will also do an ambient purchase.
Liz Feldman
No comment. But it's like. It is. I need a dopamine hit before I go to sleep kind of thing.
Sujin Park
Yeah, I got one more thing done.
Liz Feldman
Exactly, exactly. Girl. You know I like to get you done.
Sujin Park
I know.
Liz Feldman
I get. Oh. Oh, yes.
Culap Vilaisak
Are those kind of purchases generally, they're usually of a genre, a category, but not always. So is it a category or is it just like whatever comes into your fantasy?
Liz Feldman
Great question. You know, like recently this very heavy thing came in the mail that I in no way remembered buying. I opened it up and it was a heavy metallic monogram, unreturnable.
Jesse Klein
Whoa.
Liz Feldman
Pill of the day. Week long pill dispenser.
Sujin Park
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Is it metal?
Jesse Klein
Was this on Instagram? Was that.
Sujin Park
I'm looking at that. Yes, Yes, I am looking at that.
Jesse Klein
They came for all of us at once.
Culap Vilaisak
Didn't come for me. And I don't want all of us. My phone's listening.
Jesse Klein
I don't want the same thing.
Liz Feldman
You know what? It was not cheap. I bought one for me and for my wife. Monogrammed and color, you know, color selected for both of us. She was like, this is so heavy. And I was like, it's like, it's made well. It's made well. It's durable. And she's like, why would I travel with something that's gonna make my bag like with this steel caviar.
Culap Vilaisak
It's not for traveling, obviously, is it?
Liz Feldman
I've now taken it across country.
Jesse Klein
What was the selling point of it? I literally looked at this ad and came so close to buying this. What was the point of it being metal?
Sujin Park
It was well made.
Liz Feldman
That it's well made. I didn't want it to be plastic because those just break really easily. They do break easily. I do take, like a lot of vitamins and things every day. Supplements. I am a, you know, perimenopausal.
Jesse Klein
Who among us?
Liz Feldman
Any lady. So I wanted it to have like a certain, like sort of largest.
Culap Vilaisak
So it's heavy each little day and very big.
Sujin Park
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Liz Feldman
It's insane. It's insane. It's basically like a full brick. Like a full. Like you could build a small.
Culap Vilaisak
That would be the first brick you lay down. A support brick, they call it.
Liz Feldman
Yeah.
Sujin Park
Pretty much foundational. Yes. Yes.
Liz Feldman
I would not get it. Because I would not get it. I would not get it.
Sujin Park
Thank you. Thank you. Thanks.
Liz Feldman
Or you. Next time you're here, I'll show you and I'll.
Jesse Klein
Wait, hold on. The monogram. The monogram is where that was an upsell that you were on drugs.
Liz Feldman
This is why I don't ask people their opinions about what I'm gonna buy. Because it's like when you tell people your baby's name before they're born and they give you opinions. Guys. Because both my wife and I take supplements every day. We both have pill cases. So that's how we would know mine was mine and hers was hers.
Sujin Park
You also got them color. You got different colors.
Liz Feldman
Well, I'm not gonna remember the color.
Culap Vilaisak
She also led with perimenopausal. She's not gonna remember the color. Which color is hers?
Liz Feldman
You need.
Culap Vilaisak
I get that.
Liz Feldman
Thank you.
Culap Vilaisak
Wow, that's a wild purchase.
Liz Feldman
I feel judged. I.
Jesse Klein
Can I ask one follow up just in terms of. And you know, I'm here to support and I. I'm glad you got it because we obviously all. I don't believe you know, I am. Because I want you to send me a picture of it as soon as we're done with this group chat.
Liz Feldman
Please.
Jesse Klein
Can I just. Just quickly circle lightly and this is said without shame or judgment, just to lightly question the assertion that that pill cases that are I'm assuming we're talk.
Sujin Park
The days of the week.
Liz Feldman
Correct.
Jesse Klein
I have never had the experience of one of those breaking.
Sujin Park
I have, I have, I have, I have.
Liz Feldman
Thank you.
Jesse Klein
Okay, okay, okay.
Sujin Park
I guess Liz and I are more rough and tumble.
Jesse Klein
So really desperate for those pills. Ripping.
Sujin Park
Where's my Jesse? I got three omega oils going in every day. That's just one category.
Culap Vilaisak
Okay, three.
Liz Feldman
Exactly. Exactly.
Jesse Klein
I got vitamin ordering it right now. I'm getting it now. You've convinced me. I'm sold. I'm in.
Sujin Park
We are going to take our first quick break and we will be back on Add to cart.
E
Hey, Julia, Louis Dreyfus here. If you listen to me on my Wiser Than Me podcast, you probably already know that I'm an investor and an evangelist for the mill food recycler. There are a lot of reasons to love mill, but for me, it's all about the impact. Keeping food out of the garbage is one of the most powerful things we can do to help the planet every single day. We're talking banana peels, carrot tops, old takeout. When that stuff heads to the landfill, it becomes a huge driver of climate change. If you already compost, great. But of course, there's the smell, the flies, the running to the curb every day with a little leaking compost bag made of cornstarch. That's where mill comes in. It makes keeping food out of the trash as easy as dropping it in. It can handle nearly anything from a turkey carcass to like 20 avocado pits. It works automatically while you sleep. You can keep filling it for weeks and it never ever smells. Mill makes dry, nutrient rich grounds that you can use in your garden, add to your compost feed to your chickens. Or mill can get them back to a small farm for you, but you kind of have to live with mill to really get it. And that's why they offer a risk free trial. Go to mill.com wiser for an exclusive offer.

Coo. As you know, I just got back from another trip to Mexico City. It's apparently my home away from home. So I'm just going to say my biggest checklist item of the year is going to be to learn Spanish with Rosetta Stone. I mean, I love this.
Sujin Park
I love this so much.
Culap Vilaisak
It's like why am I in this city? Why is this language being spoken so beautifully? I need to get in it, you.
Sujin Park
Know, be a part of it.
Culap Vilaisak

Sujin Park
And we are back on Add to Cart with Jesse Klein and Liz Feldman. We are going to get in to each of their carts. We're going to ping pong between the both of you. I'm so excited. Let's start with Jesse. You already have these overalls in black. Okay. You are coming in so bold.
Jesse Klein
This is such a bad way to start.
Culap Vilaisak
Is it though like that? Is it? Or is it the honest way? Yeah, that's right.
Sujin Park
You have them in black. They're from Quince.
Jesse Klein
I have them in black.
Sujin Park
They are an organic stretch cotton Twill. They're a relaxed overall for 69.90. You are getting them in white. I need to know why.
Culap Vilaisak
Wow. Bold proclamation.
Jesse Klein
This is a perfect example of something that I now, I have not purchased it yet, but it has been in cart for. Please go to the link. Okay, I'm going. I'm going to be looking. So, yes, I. This was my first ever quince was buying. Yes. I mean, I was like, everyone's talking about quints. I feel like 69.99 or whatever it is is a very decent price point for cotton overalls because it is both a top and a bottom in a certain way. So I bought them in black.
Liz Feldman
I dare you. I literally dare you.
Jesse Klein
And take me to a mental hospital.
Liz Feldman
I can't wait to see you just wearing that as your top and overalls.
Jesse Klein
That was the 90s. I did do a sports bra overall.
Liz Feldman
I never hated that look.
Jesse Klein
I never hated that look. I'm not in that look now. But anyway, the black overalls arrived and I was like, okay, these are actually pretty cute. High quality if I'm in my truth. When I was first looking at these overall, there's something about the girl in the white ones with the black shirt underneath.
Sujin Park
It's a turtleneck. It's a long sleeve turtleneck.
Jesse Klein
Where I feel like she.
Culap Vilaisak
I just like, you're into her.
Jesse Klein
I'm so attracted to like. I just think the look is so cute. And so when I chose the black, I was like, oh, I'm such a slob. I can't really have white clothes. But then when the black came and I like them so much, I will say I was haunted by the girl in the white. And now that it's gonna be summer, I was like, could I be as.
Culap Vilaisak
Cute as black turtleneck in the dead.
Jesse Klein
Heat of July while a black tea in the Los Angeles desert heat? Do you see what I'm saying about her? Oh, she's adorable with the black shirt.
Liz Feldman
Yeah, absolutely.
Sujin Park
The reality of a white. I can't do it. I don't. I don't have it in me. I'm not pristine.
Culap Vilaisak
I would dirty that inside out.
Jesse Klein
I'm not pristine.
Culap Vilaisak
You know what I'm talking about? Like, it wouldn't even need to le the house. Nothing would be dirty. The second I put it on, it would be soiled in some way, shape or form.
Jesse Klein
Okay. 100 and I. I'll just say this and then I really would love if the spotlight went to Liz. The thing about the white, and this is part of my fantasy and this is why I can ideate about things forever. As in, like, is that girl in the white a girl who's an artist? If a little, if a little mess gets on the white overall, do I lean in? Is it like. Oh, it's just accidental, intentional, like she.
Sujin Park
Was creating and then she does it more and all of a sudden, Jackson.
Jesse Klein
Pollock sort of creation, suddenly it's a Jackson Pollock. It's just, I don't know, you want.
Liz Feldman
To stroll down Silver Lake Boulevard in your white overalls being like, I was just working on my mural.
Jesse Klein
I was just working.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah, it was a ceramics class.
Sujin Park
I'm alive. I am messy and artistic.
Culap Vilaisak
I'm single.
Jesse Klein
It's a little bit of. I'm single. It's a little bit of a manic.
Sujin Park
Thank you.
Culap Vilaisak
And now we get to the part.
Jesse Klein
Of it and I truly have to take. I will go take a pill right now because I realize I need to be drugged. This is insane. For a 49 year old woman to ideate about owning not one but you. Two pairs of overalls is so unhinged. It's so unhinged.
Sujin Park
Welcome home, sweetheart.
Culap Vilaisak
That is what adds to our temp of the water.
Jesse Klein
I'm about to take all my clothes.
Culap Vilaisak
The temp of the water is perfect.
Sujin Park
It's perfect. This is. I'm very comfortable.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah.
Jesse Klein
I feel seen. I feel held and seen. I really want Liz to start talking.
Sujin Park
Okay, Liz, let's talk about another love of our life is Alex Mill on the podcast. And let's talk about this Brit work jacket in herringbone. Ooh.
Liz Feldman
Thank you so much. So I'm a very frequent jacket wearer. You know, I like a light jacket. Light jacket weather is my favorite climate. And I used to be more of a blazer wearing lesbian, but as I've gotten older and sort of more established in my career, that just feels like too hard. It's just too much. It's like, I don't need to try that hard, you know, I'm not interested. So I. But I do still like the security of wearing some kind of jacket and just like that little outer layer of protection. And I found this jacket on my last trip to New York. And it's just, it gives me the illusion, or rather it gives people the illusion about me that I might garden.
Culap Vilaisak
Like I may just leave this meeting and putter around my garden.
Liz Feldman
You know what I gotta do? I gotta check on my garden.
Sujin Park
I gotta till the soil. I gotta roll up these sleeves, get my hands together.
Culap Vilaisak
Cool. Tell everybody. Describe the color. Tell people about the pieces, like, give everyone the visual. Cause it's a beautiful jacket.
Jesse Klein
It's beautiful.
Liz Feldman
Thank you, guys.
Sujin Park
It's an emerald color. You know, I like that. You know, I love that.
Jesse Klein
Liz is a gem tone. Liz is a gem. A gem tone person. Interesting.
Liz Feldman
And green is my favorite color. It's. Yeah, it's the best.
Sujin Park
So they said if. If there was an Alex Mill hall of Fame, this would be front and center. Okay. These work jackets, period. And so it's. It was inspired by a fabric they found in an antique store in Japan.
Culap Vilaisak
Sold, add to cart, process payment, add.
Jesse Klein
To cart, print out, return label.
Sujin Park
I mean, it's $225. Alex Mill is very high quality. This is gonna last forever. I, too, love work. I just took off my chore jacket. I don't do chores. You.
Culap Vilaisak
But you manage people who do chores. And that's chore adjacent.
Jesse Klein
Yeah.
Sujin Park
But I love it. I'm with you. I'm with you, Liz. This is gorgeous.
Liz Feldman
I. I thank you.
Sujin Park
But it's funny because it is of a piece to what Jesse has as well. The overall. Right. Also that a very much like construction work.
Jesse Klein
Yeah.
Culap Vilaisak
Utilities are working women.
Jesse Klein
I feel like the woman in the green Alex Mill jacket is definitely friends with the artist woman in the white overalls.
Culap Vilaisak
They probably share a fence, I would say, for tea. Yeah.
Jesse Klein
They share a fence.
Culap Vilaisak
Yes.
Jesse Klein
And I'm gonna say that green jacket grows vegetables and will, like, bring over.
Culap Vilaisak
That's right. And you'll put it in your ceramic and just fire it up in your kiln.
Sujin Park
I've got extra avocados. Do you want some? I do.
Liz Feldman
Exactly. Maybe we can pair it with the kombucha you just made. White overall, girl.
Jesse Klein
And then one day I'm like, you know, you've been so sweet bringing me all these fresh vegetables over the years. Here's this painting that I made, and.
Liz Feldman
Then I sit on it for 10 years, and then I sell it for $1 million.
Sujin Park
This is beautiful.
Jesse Klein
This is beautiful.
Culap Vilaisak
This is women at work.
Liz Feldman
That's right.
Jesse Klein
Women at Work.
Liz Feldman
That's right.
Jesse Klein
There's a band called Men at Work. That's not this. This is Women at Work.
Liz Feldman
This is our side pod. Women at work.
Jesse Klein
Women at work.
Sujin Park
Jesse, I would describe your shopping style is open carts. Open carts across the universe.
Jesse Klein
Yes. Tap. Open tap.
Sujin Park
There's open tabs of that. You know, you're getting emails.
Jesse Klein
Clear eyes, full cards. Can't lose.
Sujin Park
You're getting emails. Hey, you forgot this.
Culap Vilaisak
That's right.
Sujin Park
Do you want it?
Liz Feldman
Hey.
Jesse Klein
Oh, once you forgot.
Culap Vilaisak
Hey.
Jesse Klein
You still thinking about this? Once that started, I was like, I'm dead.
Sujin Park
I have.
Culap Vilaisak
There's not enough hours to clear that inbox.
Jesse Klein
Once every retailer became a fucking creepy boyfriend. Hey, you up?
Sujin Park
You forget about this?
Jesse Klein
You thought.
Sujin Park
Speaking of creeps, you're thinking about a Jill Sander bag. And she. Jesse wrote us, she said I that a Jill center bag that she saw Abby Jacobson carrying because she's a creep.
Liz Feldman
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sujin Park
Because Jesse's a creep.
Culap Vilaisak
Yes. So you saw this in real life, in action on a gorgeous working woman.
Jesse Klein
Liz, when we saw Abby the other day, I don't know if you also clocked her back. I will say Abby is one of the chicest.
Liz Feldman
She's so Chicago. Yeah.
Jesse Klein
In the most like beautifully understated way. And so I do feel like she is sort of like a fashion icon in her own way. So she had this bag.
Liz Feldman
She. She has some high quality pieces.
Jesse Klein
She has high quality minimalist pieces. And she was carrying this bag that I. When she wasn't looking, I did, I didn't go into the bag, but I creeped at like, who the maker was. I did not go into Abby Jacobson's bag. But I just, I just was like, what is the little gold logo at the bottom? And I was like, ooh, Jill Sander. Then when I got home, you creeped.
Culap Vilaisak
Right on onto the website.
Jesse Klein
The way you tear open your plastic pill opener. I tore open my laptop and I went on Jill Sander until I hunted down this particular beautiful.
Liz Feldman
I can't wait to see it.
Sujin Park
Sending to you right now.
Culap Vilaisak
It's beautiful.
Liz Feldman
Okay, thank you.
Sujin Park
Sujin, will you describe it for us, please?
Culap Vilaisak
Well, it's called the Canolo Tote and it's a leather tote bag with adjustable strap and embossed Jill Sander logo. This one that you're showing me, it's a dark brown. It's almost like a maroon. She has a black. But I like the black. I like the maroon. I also like the dark because this goes with the manic pixie. She's not wearing the black overalls, is she?
Jesse Klein
That's right. She's a little different. She's a little.
Culap Vilaisak
She's gonna get the color. Yes, she's gonna. And she's not gonna care. She's ro. Ground. That's right. That there's jam on it.
Jesse Klein
She's an earth goddess. Okay. This is a very expensive price point.
Culap Vilaisak
$2,250.
Jesse Klein
It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous. It's not ridiculous for Abby because she again, Deserves it.
Culap Vilaisak
Let's do it. Let's get in. Let's do our sleeves up, ladies.
Liz Feldman
Thank you.
Culap Vilaisak
Put on them gloves.
Liz Feldman
Thank you. Put on them.
Sujin Park
Jesse, when will you be enough?
Culap Vilaisak
We don't know, Daddy.
Sujin Park
What will you do?
Jesse Klein
Who will you be? I ask my therapist every week, and I guess that the answer is when I get that bag.
Liz Feldman
Well, you said the same thing about a certain chair. And I'm not saying. I'm just saying.
Jesse Klein
No, I did say this about an Eames chair that I did just buy because I am turning 50 this year, and I have been looking at that E maimsure for, again, 20 years now.
Culap Vilaisak
You deserve it.
Jesse Klein
And I finally allowed myself to purchase it, but it hasn't arrived yet, so I can still, I guess, print out my return label. But anyway, the thing about this bag is. Okay, so I probably won't buy it, but if I take enough Ambien In 10 years, I might.
Culap Vilaisak
In 10 years.
Jesse Klein
In 10 years.
Sujin Park
Can I just make a case for the bag, please?
Jesse Klein
Let me make a case.
Sujin Park
This is a bag that. Yes, it's 2000, 250, but you will get so much wear out of this, it will last for a very long time.
Culap Vilaisak
Now, this isn't like a little scrunchie bag. Do you know what I'm talking about? Like, that's, like, hip.
Jesse Klein
No, this is a real tote.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah, this is.
Sujin Park
It's not like a Gucci velvet with gold chain number that you can only wear when it coordinates with this outfit.
Jesse Klein
Correct.
Sujin Park
This is a piece.
Jesse Klein
That's a piece. And I will say, well, the two things. One, I don't know that it would have caught my eye, just jumping off of an Internet page, but it was seeing Abby breeze in and out with it, and it feels like it's so specifically perfect, even though it's minimal. The other thing I was gonna say, in fairness to me, I do have things forever. And if I find the thing, I will keep it for the rest of my life. I'm not someone who has, like, a thousand bags.
Culap Vilaisak
Not at this rate.
Jesse Klein
And the ones that I have. No, no. But the ones that I have, I can say I've had them all for, like, decades.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah. Because you pick and choose and you pick and choose the same, and you've seen it. It's something you commit. You didn't go shopping with Abby, but it's this kind of communal. Yeah, I wish shopping. Like, you ever, like, go on a trip with your girlfriends and you guys are all in the store and you're all Things and, oh, that looks really good. It's something about seeing it in real life, perhaps on your kind of cooler friend that you never even thought you'd be cool enough to wear, deserved enough to. Could afford all. Whatever the adjective is. There is something about seeing it in real life on someone you admire that you're like, okay, I can buy taste. She already did that.
Jesse Klein
Do you know what I mean?
Culap Vilaisak
That's for me, I'm speaking more personally because I question my taste all the time. But if it's on someone that I'm like, oh, yeah, yeah, her taste is unquestionable.
Jesse Klein
I feel like Abby is someone whose taste is unquestionable.
Culap Vilaisak
Yes, exactly. Then it's like almost like a satisfaction guaranteed.
Jesse Klein
That's kind of the temptation. Now, Liz, I will say again, as someone who I think again, having been in a writer's room with you, and I feel like I know when you're convinced and when you're not, you're not convinced.
Liz Feldman
Well, listen, I don't want to yuck.
Culap Vilaisak
Or yell, let's do it.
Liz Feldman
You know, but here's what I'm gonna say.
Jesse Klein
I love honesty.
Liz Feldman
I'm gonna be honest with you. I think it is a fine bag.
Jesse Klein
Oh, boy.
Liz Feldman
I think if the bag was a lot cheaper. A lot cheaper. I would get it more. I understand that sometimes understatement is hard to achieve. It's so understated that I don't fully understand the price point for what it is.
Culap Vilaisak
Gold embossed Jill Sander.
Liz Feldman
Yeah, but, you know, I don't know.
Jesse Klein
Now, have I been on Madewell and Gap and seen that there are almost identical bags for. I'm gonna call it about 30 bucks.
Sujin Park
I have also. There's Quince. There's also Quince.
Jesse Klein
There's.
Culap Vilaisak
Go back on Quince.
Jesse Klein
There's Quince. There's my old friend.
Culap Vilaisak
And they just leather goods. You will be shocked.
Jesse Klein
No, it's the same. It's the same.
Culap Vilaisak
The thing is, is that this particular story that you've laid out, I so get, though. But it's about the fact that the whole story that you saw it on a chic woman that you admire. The thing, do you know, this is the fantasy.
Jesse Klein
It's a lot about Abby. That's a lot of Abby.
Culap Vilaisak
Guys, I would be in this.
Jesse Klein
Meanwhile, Abby is listening to this and, like, spilling out her literally, like, oh, I'm never letting.
Sujin Park
Jesse didn't mention that she checked out the lining. And she just, like, how deep is it? Really got her hands in that bag.
Jesse Klein
I swear, I Just look at Abby's bag.
Liz Feldman
Yeah. No, no. Absolutely not. Also, Abby Jacobson coming up on here to make friends in just a couple of weeks.
Sujin Park
Oh, man.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah. Okay.
Liz Feldman
So do tune in for that. But listen, I just think, you know, listen, I'm always very encouraging, especially when it's something that I, like, can really wrap my brain and heart around. I've encouraged a watch or two.
Culap Vilaisak
The chair.
Sujin Park
As you encourage the chair, you encourage the memes or she did encourage.
Liz Feldman
Yes. It's not about the cost. It's about the value added versus cost. That's how.
Sujin Park
And Liz, you were around that bag. You took in that bag probably not as much as Jesse did.
Liz Feldman
And I'm not a bad gal. I'm not a bad gal. So. So it doesn't sort of hit me in the same soft space, but I also, like, can appreciate anything that is high quality and good. And like, it was. I remember it.
Culap Vilaisak
But you didn't write the whole story.
Liz Feldman
No, yeah, I didn't.
Sujin Park
And I, I am going to be just a counterpoint and say that because, look, I'm a Taurus. There's just no getting around that. I'm a Taurus.
Liz Feldman
I don't want to get around it. I want to lean in.
Sujin Park
I'm about. I'm about aesthetics. I'm about pleasure tactile, and I'm about fabrics. And I just think, this is how I feel. Chico. Jesse, one small win happens. And I'm not even talking about selling a show, and I'm not even talking about, you know, something large like that. You get that for yourself as a gift.
Jesse Klein
Now you're speaking my language. We're slowly, we peel back what's defined as a win until it's so.
Sujin Park
It's so small, you can, you know, it's a. It commemorates it. You know.
Liz Feldman
That's right.
Jesse Klein
Yes. That is what I'm thinking as of this moment is like, if there is this, and I'm going to come back to if it's a significant one, maybe.
Culap Vilaisak
And by the way, it's a universal truth about shopping. Like, if you're thinking about it years, months, decades, that means. It means. Yeah, it means something.
Jesse Klein
It means something.
Culap Vilaisak
No person would argue with that. I don't. It doesn't matter what price or whatever. If you're like, I've been thinking about this bag for six months a year, five years like that, you get the bag. Shut up. Stop. Yeah, but I like that idea to link it to something. So now we're. Do you see Liz? Liz has checked it out. She's like, okay, get me off this show. It's the energy. You know, what is money? What is money?
Liz Feldman
Hey, the universe is designed by love, baby.
Sujin Park
All right, let's take our second break.
Culap Vilaisak
On that note, in just a few Carter's boy, do we have the perfect summer add to cart for you. Today we're going to level up your cocktail vibe with Ghia, a non alcoholic aperitif that isn't some watered down juice in a can, but it's, you know, summers in Capri, dinner al fresco. You get what I'm pouring here?
Sujin Park
Oh, please, please get me four cups. And sue, the best part is you can have all that fun that chic tastes without waking up the next morning a dehydrated husk from too many cocktails.
Culap Vilaisak
Koo. Can I just share because you are an aesthetic being. I am just seeing the Le Spritz cans filled with high quality botanicals. I'm talking yuz, elderflower, rosemary, all these gorgeous babes lined up in my she shed fridge. I'm liberated. I am anew.
Sujin Park
Yeah, I love this for you. I'm upping my bar cart game with Ghia's original aperitif. Remember, I got those gorgeous cocktail glasses from moma last year. I'll pour Ghia over ice in them with a splash of sparkling water, squeeze in a lime and I am San Tropez baby. Plus plus, I'm still kickboxing in the AM like a champ.
Culap Vilaisak

We are back on add to Cart with Jesse Klein and Liz Feldman. Let's get into some more add to carts from Jesse. Jesse, you are on the hunt for a new signature scent.
Jesse Klein
I am on the hunt for a new signature scent. Okay. So I'm really glad that I'm. I'm on your pod, where you have a very wide reach, because I do need to hear. I'm crowdsourcing. Okay. So many years ago, I'm gonna say 20, almost. I used to write at SNL. I would fail a lot there. And on my many empty hours of not getting a sketch on, I would go across the street to Sacks. One day, I decided, I'm going to go smell every perfume at Saks. On the. On the fragrance floor, I smelled every single perfume. And there was one that I decided would be my signature scent, and it was Narciso Rodriguez. For her, the oil. The oil blend. Because the oil blend. I started wearing this every day. And when I tell you everyone loved this scent, people would come up to me. Men, women, in the elevator, at the Supermarket. They would smell me going by and they would say, I'm sorry, can I ask you what you're wearing? That is how good this scent was. And truly, like, it drove everyone, everyone crazy.
Culap Vilaisak
But were you topless in overalls?
Jesse Klein
I was in my. I was in my overalls bra. No. This was people. They were not hitting on me. This was like, people be like, I want to buy this for my wife. I want to buy this for G. Like, people loved it. Sad to say that in the last couple of years, Narcissa Rodriguez decided to discontinue the oil blend. You can still get Narcissa Rodriguez for her, the toilette parfum. But I have to say, it does not stick blending the way the oil did. So it never does or I don't know. This has been my scent. So now I need something new, and it's really tough. And I'm just saying if anyone. But I know that scents are different. So it's very hard to even make a suggestion because something that works on somebody might not work on somebody else.
Sujin Park
It's this oil blend on your skin that's also the winning combination. So just to describe, are you looking for something similar or are we going.
Jesse Klein
I think it has to be something similar. What was so amazing? And you can go get the idea of the smell. If you smell the perfume or.
Sujin Park
And I'm saying, yeah, we were all.
Culap Vilaisak
Quiet because we are friends again, I will go straight.
Jesse Klein
But parfuma, it is like this very beautiful, sort of. I don't know how it's described. Like a jazzy.
Sujin Park
I've got the notes here. It's. The scent opens with bright and uplifting notes of African orange blossom. Osmanthus. This in bergamot. Bergamot. Bergamot.
Jesse Klein
Bergamot parfum.
Sujin Park
While the heart reveals the warmth of musk and amber.
Culap Vilaisak
Yes. Finally, this is the kind of scent I love.
Sujin Park
It settles into a refined base of vetiver, vanilla, and patchouli, creating a lasting impression of sophistication.
Jesse Klein
There's no patchouli in there. There's no patchouli in there. I will just say that I tried to find it on ebay.
Sujin Park
Yeah, that's where you get to the lake.
Jesse Klein
Thousands of women are, like, trying to find if there's any drops of this left. It's not just me. This was like. Like an econique scent. So it's really hard to replace. And I will say I do know someone. My book agent is friends with Narciso Rodriguez, and I have thought about asking him to, like, forward A letter?
Liz Feldman
Yes.
Culap Vilaisak
Yes. Are we back on drugs now? What would be the contents of the letter?
Sujin Park
What's the.
Jesse Klein
Dear Narcissus, I write to you as I sit in my white quince overalls, an artist hungering for my signature scent. I don't. I would just beg him to bring it back.
Sujin Park
Okay, so it'd be to start up the. The plant. The manufacturing plant. Or is like. Sir, are you a dragon sitting upon a horde? Could you spare?
Jesse Klein
Spare square?
Culap Vilaisak
Fair square.
Liz Feldman
Could you spare. Wait, Jessie. Jessie. I have a legitimate idea.
Jesse Klein
Okay.
Liz Feldman
Do you know that you can get perfumes designed for you?
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah.
Liz Feldman
So you could give them perfumes. You could literally get the actual perfume, give them to a perfume designer, and have them make you an oil.
Culap Vilaisak
Really? I think they even do it online.
Liz Feldman
That's the thing. They do. And my friend. My friend Kyle makes and designs perfumes, and I could hook you up.
Sujin Park
Okay, here we go. Wow.
Culap Vilaisak
And that update will be on your guys's. Okay, guys.
Jesse Klein
Jill Sander. I'm getting my. I'm pouring all my money into Kyle.
Sujin Park
I mean, closed mouths do not get fed. And here we go. He spoke it into existence, right?
Liz Feldman
That's right.
Jesse Klein
Squeaky Wheel.
Culap Vilaisak
Honey, that's the. That's the name of your perfume.
Jesse Klein
Squeaky Squeak.
Liz Feldman
Hers is her.
Culap Vilaisak
His is her.
Jesse Klein
Squeaky Wheel gets the oil.
Culap Vilaisak
And yours is Squeaky Wheel gets the oil. Correct.
Liz Feldman
I like it.
Jesse Klein
But do you know how good it feel? Like, do you guys have, like, a score? You feel so good.
Liz Feldman
Mine was also discontinued, by the way.
Jesse Klein
What was yours, Liz?
Liz Feldman
Mine. Mine was. I was just looking it up, so I remembered it and could say it correctly, but it was. Do you know the Parfumaire l' Artisan? I've heard of that company.
Jesse Klein
I've heard of it.
Liz Feldman
It's a French Parfumaire. And why are we all struggling with it?
Culap Vilaisak
Parfumier.
Liz Feldman
The specific cologne. Goodna. It was hard. G. It was. It was like sort of a. I forget. I think it was like Verte. Verte. It was like a green tea kind of vibe, but elevated. And it was like what I was wearing when I met Rachel, my now wife. And it was like, during our courtship that I was wearing it.
Sujin Park
And, like, scent memory. Yes.
Liz Feldman
It was like my scent to her. So we realized that they were not. They were gonna stop making it. And my sweet wife, like, bought me, like, three bottles of it. But, like, it's over. You know, that was years ago, so I just don't wear a scent anymore.
Sujin Park
Can we talk to your buddy? Can We.
Jesse Klein
Yeah. What about Kyle?
Liz Feldman
Well, here's what I'm gonna say now. Kyle, actually. No, Kyle's great. Guys, Kyle's great. But I don't like wearing a scent for myself anymore because it served the purpose. It served the purpose. But also I have two friends who have sensitivity to perfumes and I just.
Culap Vilaisak
Like, I'm married to one.
Sujin Park
That's why Suchin can't have anything with scent.
Culap Vilaisak
Correct. And as a woman approaching 50, taking up space, I have my signature scent that I only wear on vacation with my girlfriends. And that is how liberated I am. Okay. But I get so nervous about it that I do like a, like a four or five month check, you know, just to be like, da, da, da. Do I need to buy. Yeah, just make sure we're in production. We're in production. We're fine. But yes, I got it.
Jesse Klein
Wait, what's yours? What's your vacation signature scent?
Culap Vilaisak
It's in my vacation bag because I'm about getting ready to go. I'm about to go on vacation.
Liz Feldman
And that was crazy that you just had your vacation bag that close to you because it's.
Culap Vilaisak
I'm. I'm about to get on a plane.
Jesse Klein
Yeah.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah.
Sujin Park
Okay.
Culap Vilaisak
And I'm not even going to tell you the scent because why. No, I'm not going to tell you the scent because was. It's probably. No, you know what?
Jesse Klein
Let's go judge you.
Liz Feldman
CK1 heard of it.
Jesse Klein
Wow. Wow.
Sujin Park
In my water.
Culap Vilaisak
Tell you I know nothing about this. It was gifted to me. And by gifted, I mean left in my bathroom by someone I don't even know who. And I picked it up and it smells delicious. And I'm sure that it's like a dollar ninety. Some, like, probably, maybe it was even my kids, you know, friend. But anyway, okay, fine. I'm here. I'm vulnerable. It's about friendship.
Sujin Park
Yes. Step into it.
Liz Feldman
We're making friends.
Culap Vilaisak
You guys are friends?
Sujin Park
Where's your friends?
Jesse Klein
Call. You need to know.
Culap Vilaisak
Natalie. Natalie. Natalie. And it's not a perfume I would normally wear because I'm very into the musky, the oils. And this is more floral, which I don't like. But when the floral kind of evaporates, you're left with this.
Jesse Klein
You're left with this other.
Culap Vilaisak
And so that like floral kind of. Hey, I'm a fun gal. I just made a painting. My nipples are chafing behind a white, you know, overall.
Sujin Park
Overall bib.
Liz Feldman
Yeah, because.
Culap Vilaisak
Oh my God. Because I wear a bra.
Sujin Park
Pixie. Manic.
Liz Feldman
Yeah. You know, and I have very Large nipples.
Culap Vilaisak
In winter when she leaves leaves and the jave nipples are left, she's dark. She a musk.
Jesse Klein
She's.
Culap Vilaisak
You know what I mean? She's in the basement squatting, you know what I mean?
Sujin Park
She's like cellar dweller.
Jesse Klein
This is the power of scent, is it tells story.
Culap Vilaisak
Because it's always when I first put it on, like, am I this girl? I. I want to be. And I'm free.
Jesse Klein
On vacation.
Culap Vilaisak
I'm on vacation. I'm writing, you know, e scooters.
Sujin Park
You know, I mean, like this.
Jesse Klein
Who.
Culap Vilaisak
I would never do that at all. Hair in the Wind has never touched an E scooter in the US Brag.
Sujin Park
Would never go on a line.
Culap Vilaisak
Never. And then that wears off and I'm like.
Jesse Klein
The idea of your scent trailing behind you is like, you're just a beautiful woman on an e scooter. And people are like, who is she?
Sujin Park
My nephew is. He's about to be 15. He does what boys his age are doing, which is scent. Max. Are you guys familiar with Set?
Jesse Klein
Yes.
Liz Feldman
Yes.
Jesse Klein
No.
Liz Feldman
It's intense.
Sujin Park
They love designer fragrances. It's like number one.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah.
Sujin Park
And they, when they put on their designer fragrances, they dress like it's five in the front and one in the back. And I'm like, that's too much. And he's. He's given me demos and I've, of course, as the auntie that I am, I fed into his collection. I've given him, you know, Yves Saint Laurent. I'm like, what? You have an interest. Auntie will help. But I was like, kai, it's too much. And he, he was like, no, it's not. But what's it called?
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah, New York Times.
Jesse Klein
And it's just a New York style of wearing a scent where it's like you just drench yourself in it so.
Sujin Park
That they have more cologne than we have ever had in our lifetime. Like, they.
Jesse Klein
It's just right, because now you can.
Sujin Park
Just make 13 and 14 year olds who have designer cologne.
Jesse Klein
Wow. I'm learning a lot today.
Sujin Park
But I've never put perfume on the back of my neck until he brought it up. And man, that. Leaving a trail. That's your one. Leaving a trail.
Jesse Klein
Put it on your hands. Run it through your hair.
Sujin Park
Run it through your hair.
Jesse Klein
Oh, the Natalie Link has hit the chat. The Natalie Link is here. Wow.
Sujin Park
Wow. Look at the fonts.
Jesse Klein
Okay, pre order. Well, I'm in.
Liz Feldman
I mean, they're not giving it away. It's a fancy perfume.
Culap Vilaisak
I only surround myself with Tauruses that I then pick off.
Jesse Klein
I'm going in.
Sujin Park
Yeah, I'm gonna share mine now. I got this. This was our. Our mutual friend Casey Rose Wilson for Christmas last year, got me the God bless. She got me the. The Liberty advent calendar. My God, it's. That's an experience all its own. But one of the things. One of the days I got this parfum. Le parfum. And it's called bb. And the scent from BB is called the other Room. And I'm gonna put it in the.
Jesse Klein
Please chat. And it smells the other room.
Sujin Park
It smells so good. I don't know. Like, I'm just like, I. I'm. Yeah, that's. That's my scent these days.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah, the other room. I'm leaving the other room. Leaving this scent behind.
Jesse Klein
Oh, my God, look how beautiful. This is a unisex.
Sujin Park
I too, like more of a musk. So much of a floral.
Jesse Klein
Oh, there's a whole story being told on this website about a masked ball.
Sujin Park
We're all telling stories, guys. We're all. We're living a fantasy. We're just trying to step outside of our lives.
Jesse Klein
I am probably a bunch of women who are cs. Single white femaleing Abby hardcore. All right, I'm buying all of these.
Sujin Park
Okay. The last thing. I don't want to let you go. I could talk to you for hours.
Culap Vilaisak
We'll just roll into your podcast and then roll back into ADD to cart. Never ever leaving.
Jesse Klein
Would love it.
Sujin Park
Liz, you're removing from Cart something that I find very empowering, and that is caring about what you look like in a bathing suit.
Culap Vilaisak
Help. As summer is upon us.
Sujin Park
How. How have you reached this nirvana? What was there? What are the steps?
Culap Vilaisak
How do we get there? Give us the book.
Liz Feldman
I mean, I'm working on it. It's a. It's a whip. It's a work in progress. But it's. Here's what I'm going to say. I grew up with a mother who was very self conscious about, you know, her body. Her body in a bathing suit. Never was in a bathing suit. Never went into a body of water as a result. And I was like, you know, I'm gonna be somebody who goes into bodies of water, and it is hard to find a bathing suit for anybody that you, like, feel good in, but especially because I'm not like a femme gal, and I want, you know. But I'm also not like a mask gal, so I'm not like, trying to wear a T shirt. A box. Yeah. So the truth is, I still haven't really found a great bathing suit. But you know what? I got the a two year old daughter. I'm going to get in that goddamn pool with her, I'm going to take her in the ocean and I don't give a what I look like because I want to be a better example to her. I want to be an example that it doesn't matter. And as long as you're having fun and you're using your body and you're learning to swim and you're exploring, that's what matters.
Sujin Park
That's right, that's right.
Culap Vilaisak
The modeling when you have children, perhaps especially daughters as women, I'm just gonna throw that out there. The modeling. The modeling is really, really. And the thing is, is that it doesn't actually work until you believe it.
Liz Feldman
Exactly. And do I, in my heart of hearts, think I look good in a bathing suit? I know that I don't. But I am dropping the self, you know, torture of like, oh, what do I look like? Especially in LA and you go to a pool party and you know, it's like, guess what? This is what I look like. And it' I can maybe vacillate a little bit better to a little bit worse than I am now. But like, it's not gonna get a hell of a lot better. So I might as well just fucking lean in, can I?
Jesse Klein
I don't wanna undermine everything you just said because what you said is so beautiful and it's a reminder to us all, but I'm just gonna say you're hot.
Liz Feldman
Nope, don't do that.
Sujin Park
I'm sorry.
Jesse Klein
But also everything you said, cosine. I mean, but like really, I struggle in this area and it is empowering when you have a little child because I hate bathing suits and I hate wearing one. But when my son was that age, I'm like, well, I have to jump in the pool and save him.
Liz Feldman
I have to get in the pool.
Jesse Klein
And I have to be in there because he can't swim. So it did kind of force the issue.
Culap Vilaisak
And I take that back. I was gonna say we modeled it for our girls, but I have a son and we have to model like, hey, this is a woman's body. And guess what? Your fucking opinion doesn't matter about. Yeah. Whether or not you're in the water or not. So anyway, I'm doubling down on that. Go ahead.
Sujin Park
Because the other thing, because I'm in the same boat with you, Liz. And also you were. We, we were in a pool together mere days ago.
Liz Feldman
You look mere Days. So did you.
Sujin Park
But. But it is.
Liz Feldman
You got gams for days. I mean, gams for days. Great gams on that.
Jesse Klein
Oh, some of them. I mean, I'm just in the biz. If I'm.
Liz Feldman
I mean, best games in the biz.
Jesse Klein
I'm gonna take it.
Liz Feldman
I could work out every day for the rest of my life. I would have hands like that.
Jesse Klein
I wasn't gonna bring it up, but, I mean, as long as. As we're here, I'm just going to say, cool.
Sujin Park
I see you, and I love to be seen. You know, I love a shine from you two lighthouses. I. I'll. I'm going to drink it up.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah.
Liz Feldman
Yeah.
Sujin Park
Part of it is like, we got to keep our kids alive. We want to.
Liz Feldman
Yep.
Culap Vilaisak
Yeah.
Sujin Park
We got to jump in there. We got to get them comfortable in the water. And Ricky Lindholm came to my house, and she was wearing. What are they called? Their swim shirts. That's what. What I was wearing, Liz.
Liz Feldman
Yes. And by the way, I was like, note to self. I should get a swim shirt, because I sure did get sunburned.
Culap Vilaisak
Yes.
Sujin Park
Part of it is.
Jesse Klein
Yeah.
Sujin Park
Like, it's about the sun and we need to have, like, in coverage, but we're in there with our kids, and it's like, I don't know when the next time I'll be wearing a bikini, guys, to be honest. But, like, while I'm trying to make sure she's okay, I'm not futzing with my. My bathing suit. Like, I can't do that. Like, I'm at work.
Jesse Klein
You're.
Sujin Park
I'm lifeguarding again.
Jesse Klein
A chore. You're in your chore coat. You're in your bathing suit version of.
Culap Vilaisak
A chore coat every week. Overalls are off. Chore court is off.
Liz Feldman
Chore bathing suit.
Jesse Klein
Did I just come up with a shark tank idea?
Liz Feldman
Yes. Million dollar invention.
Jesse Klein
I need $90 billion for zero percent of my incredible.
Sujin Park
So what it is, is basically, it's a scuba.
Liz Feldman
Yep. It's a foam scuba suit with pockets.
Jesse Klein
It's a. It's an Alex Mills scuba suit in.
Culap Vilaisak
Dirt almost as much as her pill container. Yeah, you wish.
Liz Feldman
It has some really, like, cute wooden buttons for no reason.
Jesse Klein
No reason. No reason.
Culap Vilaisak
Oh, my God.
Jesse Klein
I would wear that targeted at everyone on Instagram.
Culap Vilaisak
Monogram.
Liz Feldman
And it's your. For a mere $2,350.
Culap Vilaisak
Wow.
Jesse Klein
That did it. Cuts like a knife. Oh, my gosh.
