Hey, it's Lena Waithe. Legacy Talk is my love letter to black storytellers, artists who've changed the game and paved the way for so many of us. This season. I'm sitting down with icons like Phylicia Rashad, Loretta Devine, Ava DuVernay and more. We're talking about their journeys, their creative process and the legacies they're building every single day. Come be a part of the conversation. Season two drops July 29th. Listen to Legacy Talk wherever you get your podcast or watch us on YouTube.
Sujin Pak
Wait. Oh, you guys. Welcome back to Add to Cart. This is the show about the things we buy. The things we buy into what it says about who we are as a people. I am so Su Jinpak. And I'm Kulat Vilayasak. And sue, you know I love you, but I have to be honest. We fucked up. We did. And what do you mean by that? Well, sue, we've done over a hundred episodes of the show, correct? Correct. I beg of you, how many have featured today's guest? I mean, don't embarrass me. Don't embarrass me. Okay, I, I, I think we should, we should trash our prior episodes. And this is our first episode right here. Correct? That's how we solve it. And we learn from our mistakes and then erase them and pretend they never happen and live new lives. New lives with new identities. Such is the American way, right? We're all a bunch of scammers. Listeners, please, please give a warm welcome to one of my favorite people on the earth. He is one third of the comic book club that I've talked about on the show. We sometimes read comics. We often watch shows. We always gossip. Oh, yeah, baby. He's an actor, a writer, a comedian, an improviser, a podcaster. He has a striking beard. He famously is not on social media. Please add to Cart. Jason Manduke. I mean, in the flesh. I have been hearing your names in these halls. I mean. And I thought, you know how you have, like, a friend who, like, always mentions, you know. Sure, of course you have a best friend. Oh, my God. Zooks at the zoo. And I'm like, yeah, yeah, you've mentioned this person before. Never an introduction, never an invite for teaching.
Jason Mantzoukas
And I feel the exact same. The amount I know about you in your life, shocking. Would shock you.
Sujin Pak
My tail's a wagon. And I feel like there was a reason she kept us apart for a while. But I see your face. I see your welcoming, glowy presence, and I just want to devour, you know? And I felt like coo. Just wanted us to have our own time before we came all together here now. And I feel comfortable.
Jason Mantzoukas
I want it. I feel. I feel. Yes.
Sujin Pak
Day one.
Jason Mantzoukas
I'll be honest. I feel Soochen, that she's been keeping us apart. I feel like it is purposeful and it is aggressive. I feel like it is a power play. Because she knows that once we meet, once our powers combine, we will be unstoppable.
Sujin Pak
Unstoppable. Unstoppable. Limitless with Chris Hemsworth. Limitless.
Jason Mantzoukas
I was going to say Limitless. Limitless with Bradley Cooper.
Sujin Pak
That's more.
Jason Mantzoukas
It's all the Limitless is.
Sujin Pak
Now you're meeting, but I want to guess that you both are wearing the same socks right now. I want to guess that you are both wearing darn tough socks from Vermont. Are you wearing darnies? Are you wearing darnies?
Jason Mantzoukas
I'm not going to lie. I almost always am wearing darn tough socks. I happen to not be right now. Only because of laundry.
Sujin Pak
Yeah, I get it.
Jason Mantzoukas
I'm so annoyed because I would say nine times out of 10, I am wearing darn tough socks, many of which were gifted to me from Cool up last Christmas. They are my absolute favorite, those guys. Exactly. I've got the ankle high ones. I've got calf high ones. I've got. I wear them on hikes. I wear them at the house. I wear them all day, every day.
Sujin Pak
Day raves, you know, Raves are coming back. Guess what? I'll be in these, guys. Nice and thick and comfy.
Jason Mantzoukas
You know what we find? Here we go. Hey, hey. Darn tough. Why not have a glow stick pouch or a drug pocket on your socks? Why not have a drug pocket? Why, by the way, why don't socks have drug pockets?
Sujin Pak
Listen, this is. This is a collab in the making. I mean, we could shake up this company and take it to the top. But, Jason, one might say that a sock, you know, is a drug pocket.
Jason Mantzoukas
True, true. A sock. A sock is a drug pocket. Do you guys have T shirts for this show? That's. That's one. A sock is a drug pocket. Or.
Sujin Pak
Or just like. Let's take some words out. Sock, drug pocket.
Jason Mantzoukas
Sock, Drug pocket. Question mark.
Sujin Pak
Ellipses.
Jason Mantzoukas
Drug sock. How about a drug sock?
Sujin Pak
Sock. The other thing I would say is both of you, separately, without knowing, got into Hokas as well. And two different timelines.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, I've been on Hocus for years. Hokas changed everything for me. I was on a. I can't remember what show I was on, but I was on some show. And, like, I'd say 50% of the camera operators, the guys lugging around big, heavy cameras were. Were wearing the original, like, HOKA ones. And I was like, what are you. What are those? What is happening? What's going on? And they were like, oh, these are these shoes. Blah, blah, blah. Immediately got a pair.
Sujin Pak
Yeah.
Jason Mantzoukas
Immediately got a pair and was like, whoa, this is the greatest. And now I'm like, wall to wall hocus.
Sujin Pak
Yeah, yeah. You're just. It's like between your foot being encased in a Darnie. Yeah. And then. And then being also encased in a duvet. A duvet of a sneaker, just like such.
Jason Mantzoukas
And you know, it's interesting because Hocus came around right at the same time as there was a. Simultaneously a concurrent craze for no cushioning, barefoot style shoes and runners and like, all of these kind of like Ulta and all these brands that are Primal runners. Exactly. That are all about, like, flat feet, barefoot, running, the. Those fucking toe shoes that make me so ugly. So ugly. And then Hokas arrived, which are maximalist. They are. Guess what? We took all the cushioning from those other shoes that they didn't want. We put them in these shoes.
Sujin Pak
There's heated insulation in these shoes.
Jason Mantzoukas
Ugh. The best hoka's I've got now. I've got the boots, the hiking boots. I wear them in the winter. I wear them in this. Come on. Forget about it. Hoka.
Sujin Pak
I mean, I don't know if this is the right trajectory. I don't own a pair of Uggs, but I feel like. Right. Isn't this, like, the way that you end up.
Jason Mantzoukas
Well, I don't know about Uggs, but I. No way. I think. No, I think like a shoe. Wait, you think we're gonna end up in hugs in Uggs rather.
Sujin Pak
I think.
Jason Mantzoukas
By the way, I do think we're gonna end up in hugs. God help me if the end of this Line is Uggs. No. The answer is no. But you know what? You know what? The my. Well, here's my question for you. And this could very easily. This almost was on my add to cart. What are you wearing currently? What are you wearing in. Inside your home? Because when I walk through the door, my hoke has come off, my boots come off, whatever I've been wearing in the world come off, and I go straight into slippers.
Sujin Pak
Slippers or.
Jason Mantzoukas
Well, they are specifically Birkenstock slippers.
Sujin Pak
Wait, so then are your Crocs just for the garage?
Jason Mantzoukas
Crocs are for outside in the garage. Yeah. This is how close I am with Jason. Oh, yeah. So I will take these slippers off just to take the trash out. Slippers off, Crocs on, take the trash out. Come. I just did it early when I walked down to the garage. I was like, I gotta put the crocs on. And then I gotta. There's so many, like, just indiscriminate pairs of sneakers, shoes, Crocs, and slippers strewn about this house, all of which are identical to each other.
Sujin Pak
And. But they all serve a different purpose. I mean, exactly. You can't absolutely. Now walk me back, because I'm going full. Just darn toughs. And I have to say, inside, outside, I mean, I'm getting my money's worth. I'm getting my money's worth. They said they have lifetime guarantee. We shall see. We shall see that lifetime guarantee.
Jason Mantzoukas
You know what? Bring it on. Darn tough. Cause I'm gonna put you through your paces.
Sujin Pak
You put the policy out there. I did not do that.
Jason Mantzoukas
You know, smart wool. Hey, smart wool. You let me down.
Sujin Pak
More like dumb wool.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yeah, exactly. Idiot wool. More likely. I could talk my. You know what? Now I'm mad. My entire cart could have been merino wool and wool products.
Sujin Pak
Oh, my God.
Jason Mantzoukas
Base layers, gaiters, socks, like, so much wool gear. Could have been my entire cart.
Sujin Pak
Now you're speaking suchin's language. Before, it was just an amuse bouche. Now we are dining. We are eating dinner. It's like we only have a certain amount of hours in this day. I'm not even talking about this recording. This recording is out the window.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yeah. This is gonna be the longest episode of add to cart ever.
Sujin Pak
It doesn't matter, okay?
Jason Mantzoukas
And not to, you know, whatever, but, you know, you said it earlier. Cool up. This is for a lot of people where the show gets good. This is where people are gonna be like, this is the jumping on point. Everything prior to this, all the Additions to cart for sleep to perfect sleep. All the Christmas carts. No, it's gonzo. It starts right here. Oh. If you're going to listen to add to cart, you got to start with the Jason Manzukas wool episode.
Sujin Pak
Zooks. Zooks. This is what AV Club's going to say and when we know we're calling it right now, this is the shot.
Jason Mantzoukas
There's going to be a wool shortage after this EP drops.
Sujin Pak
Number one, you're the only guest that we have never gotten a list from. We are truly going into this line. I cannot wait. Number two, wait. Before we do, just selfishly, why the Birkenstock? Because I know that there's a reason, because I'm looking for an indoor slipper, and I'm hoping that this could be it.
Jason Mantzoukas
Okay, so here's the deal. Here's what happened to me. So I'm ferociously, like, not loyal, but, like, I, I, I lock in on things, and they are my thing forever. So, like, this is my coffee mug, right? So. And I have, like, five of them. So, you know, if the lid breaks or the handle breaks, which they do eventually, there's one ready to go. Everything is duplicates. I. Why have one when you can have two? Two is two has a redundancy built in. So one is none. Two is one. Three. Three is two. Right? So for me, I'm always have. I always have two to three of any item in stock, quote, unquote.
Sujin Pak
Yeah.
Jason Mantzoukas
And this includes. Yes, include. I mean, like, when I say, like, you know, there are. There is a closet in my house that looks like it is a store that is just waiting for me to lose my. My mug, my water bottle, my whatever, so that I'm just like, all right, here we go. Boom. Here we go. Okay, so for years, I was loyal to a slipper company called Glyrops. I believe they're called Glyrup. G L, E, R S. I can.
Sujin Pak
Possibly be the name.
Jason Mantzoukas
Hold on. I know now that I'm saying it out loud. Here's. Here's.
Sujin Pak
You sound like an alien, Jason.
Jason Mantzoukas
It's one of those things I'm sorry that I've never said. I've never said aloud.
Sujin Pak
You've only added to cart. You had no reason. You've only read it on the interwebs. Gleerups. Okay, sure.
Jason Mantzoukas
I just dropped it in the chat.
Sujin Pak
Oh, yeah. It's kind of Swedish. Yes. Norwegian felted wool. I like this little booty.
Jason Mantzoukas
There's a leather bottom one that I used to wear. There is also a rubber Bottom one. If you go inside and out, if you have that. So I used to wear those for years and years and years. But during the pandemic, I was home so much and wearing them almost exclusively that my back started to hurt.
Sujin Pak
So. Yes. Oh, my God.
Jason Mantzoukas
So I was like, oh, wait a minute.
Sujin Pak
I was hoping you were going here.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yes.
Sujin Pak
I can't even believe this. Like, I just. It's so exciting. I'm so excited.
Jason Mantzoukas
What I realized was, oh, I'm not supposed to spend. I'm not supposed to spend so much time without any arch support. Without any support. I have flat feet. I'm 50 years old. My body is done.
Sujin Pak
Why is Soochin cheering for what Jason just said?
Jason Mantzoukas
Soochin is out of her chair. She's out of her chair.
Sujin Pak
You guys, you guys, this is. I mean, I don't know if I can continue this episode. I don't think I can be professional. This is what I'm talking about. I knew. I knew this is where you were gonna go. Because I look at house slippers and I'm like, that's not enough arch support. My back is going to be killing me. So what I've done is I generally will take a really good hiking shoe and make that my indoor shoe. But that's such a pain to get.
Jason Mantzoukas
And then event.
Sujin Pak
You'll get it mixed up.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yes. And. And eventually you're like, I'll just run outside and do X, Y and Z. And then your indoor shoes now have dirt on them, so forget about it. You got to burn those and start afresh.
Sujin Pak
But so good.
Jason Mantzoukas
So I. I started by just getting Birkenstocks. Just a. A pair of Birkenstocks. Regular, like Arizona or whatever it was. And it was great and I loved it. But they aren't slippers. They aren't cozy. Right. In my mind, I want in the house to be cozy. And so I got these ones. Cause they have, like, a little fluffy lining. They're wool felted, like a wool exterior. So they're cozier than just like a regular pair of sandals, which I kind of didn't love wearing just sandals inside. So I. So now I have V. I bought three pairs of these slippers. Zappos. Zappos sees me coming, is like, oh, thank God. We're gonna stay in. We're gonna stay in business.
Sujin Pak
Three looks good.
Jason Mantzoukas
We're gonna stay in business. Manzoukas needs more sl. Hocus. But so. So I. I've gotten these, and they are game changers. It has been like, my back has been like, so much better during this period. The only bummer about them is the ones that I wear is they are rarely available. They are rarely available Birkenstock.
Sujin Pak
I feel like any of the good.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, is that it? Oh, okay. Maybe that's.
Sujin Pak
They just kind of go out all the time.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yeah. So it's like, that's why I got a bunch of pairs of these eventually. Just because I was like, oh, what am I doing? So I'm going to send it to you right now. It's the Zermatt. It's the Birkenstock Zermatt again. Oh my God. Doesn't. That's not real.
Sujin Pak
Okay.
Jason Mantzoukas
I mean, like, that's ridiculous.
Sujin Pak
We'll get the glow ups and get the Zermatt.

Our healthcare system is broken in so many ways. We have a health care system that's.
Jason Mantzoukas
Supposed to be taking care of people that is making it literally more difficult for people to put food on the table.
Sujin Pak
So this season we'll dive into the challenges headfirst while also thinking about how we can find a better way. Because we all deserve better. Uncared for. Season 3 from Lemonada Media, available August 6th. Wherever you get your podcasts. What I know about Jason, too, is that he. He loves researching gear. Loves it. Loves it. Jay, talk about it.
Jason Mantzoukas
So a lot of the stuff that I chose, essentially, it was predicated on during an episode of our podcast. How did this get made? I just started talking about. Cause we were traveling, we were touring, started talking about packing cubes and pouches and how I pack. And I decided I'm gonna start at some point a side podcast called Zooks Cubes. And it's just gonna be this stuff I'm gonna show you. I'm gonna.
Sujin Pak
Why? Start the side. It's here. Do it here.
Jason Mantzoukas
That's what I'm saying.
Sujin Pak
Start the side podcast.
Jason Mantzoukas
That's what I'm saying. This is. I figured that this would be the inn inaugural episode of Zooks Cubes.
Sujin Pak
Zooks Cubes. Zooks Cubes. Zooks Cubes.
Jason Mantzoukas
Zooks Cubes.
Sujin Pak
Zooks Cubes. Zooks Cubes. Zooks Cubes. I'm already horny for it. I'm letting you know ahead of time. I love this shit.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, yeah. Oh, same.
Sujin Pak
And Jason, it's like you don't do social media. I know why you don't. Because you would be obsessed with it like I am. And if you got into TikTok, and I know you tried and ended up at YouTube shorts, but we don't have to get into that.
Jason Mantzoukas
I thought, oh, it's so embarrassing.
Sujin Pak
But Jay, like a section of TikTok is this.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, I'm sure I subscribe to a bunch of YouTube channels that are gear backpack reviewers, People who are reviewing all sorts of travel gear, backpacking gear stuff. That is exactly what I'm talking about here. You know, packing cubes, pouches, all sorts of things that make for me because, you know, like, I just was on the road. You know, after spending two and a half years isolating alone in my house, I. I just have come back from a bunch of like two and a half, three months on the road, touring my podcast, visiting my family, being in New York for shows, doing stuff. And this. This is the. Hold on, I'm trying to get this picture. Okay.
Sujin Pak
Ooh, ooh, wait, I need a zoomy zoom. Ooh, that's sexy.
Jason Mantzoukas
What?
Sujin Pak
That is sexy. Oh, buddy. All those compartments. Nothing. Yeah, nothing is out of place. There's not a nothing loose. There's nothing loose. This thing could be tossed into the ocean intact. It would return to you just like this.
Jason Mantzoukas
Exactly. And that is what we're talking about.
Sujin Pak
Everything's strapped in cozy, tight. Nobody's scared, everyone's happy.
Jason Mantzoukas
And if you know what you're doing, you know where everything is.
Sujin Pak
Yes.
Jason Mantzoukas
You know, if you know how you've packed and you need. All you need is quick like a socks, a pair of underwear, another whatever, or just your toiletries, or you just are grabbing the individual pouch or cube that has exactly what you want.
Sujin Pak
Because everything has its place.
Jason Mantzoukas
Well, and it's like assembling a puzzle or. Cool up. Or a Lego set.
Sujin Pak
A Lego set.
Jason Mantzoukas
You know, for me, this is all about, like, figuring out how to pack everything inside of each individual thing for organization, but then how to fit them all perfectly in.
Sujin Pak
Oh, my God. Show you one of my suitc. Really turn that. Yeah. Beard a different color. Let's post. Yeah. That last Paris trip where it's maybe chaos. Oh, yeah. Oh, it's chaos. But still, what I do, then what I do, there's just always an empty duffel bag in there. Because I'm like, that's fine. I'll figure it out when I get there.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, I always. I always carry. I carry a packable duffel bag or a packable tote bag that is just spillover so that if. If I buy something or things get too big or. Or whatever. Like, what I oftentimes do is I'll also take my tote, which packs down into, like, nothing, and I'll put it. I'll pack inside of it everything I need on the airplane, and I'LL just put it in the top of my backpack. So then everything goes up in the bins except I just take that little tote out and I'm. It's at my chair and it's done.
Sujin Pak
I'm exhausted just hearing this. I'm exhausted. I mean, I don't even be honest. The trial and error to get you to this ninja like level is a series of books. It's an encyclopedia set. Am I correct here? From A to Z. Just all the mistakes along the way, the things that you've learned.
Jason Mantzoukas
It's interesting. I've certainly been doing some version of this for over a decade. You know, I think easily 10 years ago, somebody gave. I think my. My mom gave me a set of Eagle Creek packing cubes. And I was like, what do I do with these? And then now it is so baked in that it really is. Because all I do now is take all of these individual pouches.
Sujin Pak
He's grabbing more pouches.
Jason Mantzoukas
This is a Tom Bin pouch. And it opens up. The company is called Tom Bin. It opens up like this. It's got like. It's got like a mesh pocket up here and then like little elastic bands here for things. And then each little individual pocket in here has like batteries or a little roll of duct tape or a nail clipper or a, you know, a little sewing thing.
Sujin Pak
You got a pencil in there.
Jason Mantzoukas
That's the. That's a stylus. That's for the other.
Sujin Pak
Okay, all right, Right.
Jason Mantzoukas
But it's got like all that stuff. Tom Bin makes all these incredible pouches that are small, large, see through, whatever. Then there's this company called Evergoods which makes these, which is a very thin. Kind of interesting.
Sujin Pak
What's that for? Now I see cords in there. I'm already confused.
Jason Mantzoukas
So this here's.
Sujin Pak
Yeah, that was tech.
Jason Mantzoukas
I'm not going to lie. I'm not going to lie. This is the beauty. You have pouches for all different things. Almost every single pouch has a iPhone cord. Has a tiny iPhone cord. Because no matter what pouch I get, it's going to be able to help me charge my phone. And I always. And I always carry. I always carry an external battery as I'm holding here, the Nitecore 10,000 milliamp. I can't remember what the model number of this is. This is smaller than my iPhone, right? Smaller than my iPhone, but can charge my iPhone three times fully.
Sujin Pak
Wow. Okay, Soojin, Come on, Sujin. You know this. You don't have to get. If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready.
Jason Mantzoukas
And for example, this little. This little guy can go right in here, slide, boom, boom, boom. And then it's just. That's where it is. And I know the orange thing has my battery, has my. Blah, blah, blah, whatever, whatever. You know, you can use this as a passport case or any. Anything because of the size, but it's. This is invaluable, this pouch. Incredible.
Sujin Pak
Yeah, yeah. We're inside of your cart at this point, right? Like, these are the things that you've brought. I hope so.
Jason Mantzoukas
Sorry. Yes, sorry.
Sujin Pak
We're in a new podcast. I don't know Ku. If you. If you knew that we're in Zooks.
Jason Mantzoukas
Okay, hold on.
Sujin Pak
Pouches. What is this podcast?
Jason Mantzoukas
How dare you. It's Zoox cubes, Episode one of Zook's. Zook's Cubes is the last episode of Add to Cart. Last episode of Add to Cart. First episode. Welcome back to Zook's Cubes. We're talking slippers, pouches, packing cubes, and backpacks.
Sujin Pak
Air horn. Air horn.
Jason Mantzoukas
I just sent you a link. Okay, so I just linked you to just the organizational pouches and bags. Not the backpacks, not the big things, but all of these elements, you know, used in conjunction with each other. So, like, for example, they've got all these zippered pouches, all these kind of different sized things. But the thing that I'm obsessed with the most that is on this page are the travel trays.
Sujin Pak
The travel trays? The travel trays.
Jason Mantzoukas
How so Here is one of the travel trays. Okay, okay. So for example, let's say I'm traveling and I'm like, I empty my. I put this on the counter in my hotel at night, and I put all my stuff, all my pocket stuff in it, right? Do, do, do, do, do. All my. I emptied my pocket knife, my whatever, and then I'm like, I'm leaving the next day. All I do is I pull this thing up, cinch it closed, and now this is a closed pouch with all of the contents of my pocket, right?
Sujin Pak
Why don't you just put it in your pocket?
Jason Mantzoukas
Well, maybe I've got to go through airport. Maybe I've got to go through tsa. Maybe I've got to. So boom, this goes right into my backpack. Soojin, how dare you, Soojin. How dare you try and poke holes in your travel tray.
Sujin Pak
So when you're going through airport security and I'm the person behind you, you're pulling out trays and bowls and colanders. Everything just.
Jason Mantzoukas
No, everything just is already in everything's already in there. I don't do a goddamn thing. I walk through like do, do, do, do, do. Just waiting for them to decide that they need to give me extra screening because of the color of my skin and my beard.
Sujin Pak
Really, Jason, what you're. This is a courtesy for them. Everything is so organized. It helps them be discriminatory racially profile us. That's correct.
Jason Mantzoukas
Exactly. Exactly. Wow. This is the big size. Oh, no, this is the big size. See, this is the little one.
Sujin Pak
For bananas. For bananas. What are you putting in that jacket?
Jason Mantzoukas
The big one has other stuff in it. The big one has stuff in it like my asthma inhaler, stuff that I don't use as often. But then you, you know, lens wipes, you know, here's another add to cart. Here's an add to cart. Hold on.
Sujin Pak
Wait, wait, wait. Let's see, let's see. The organization system, it's completely. It's like it doesn't exist. Now, now I'm really confused.
Jason Mantzoukas
Okay, so this is a random, this is really random. This is just nondescript cardboard box inside of it from Amazon. I purchased this box is just a box of a million different size Ziploc baggies. A million. Like a four by three, a two by two, all different size bagg.
Sujin Pak
What is it? Wait, Jason. That you bought or that you have acquired over time?
Jason Mantzoukas
No, it's a box. I bought a box of. I think I broke Suchin.
Sujin Pak
Hold on. I like it. Cause we set, you know, in the arc of your relationship. We've been edging you guys apart for a while now. We're together.
Jason Mantzoukas
We've been edging.
Sujin Pak
We've been edging. And then we talked about your commonalities. We started with your commonalities and now at these bags we diverge.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yes. The frequency with which you have use for and can better organize your life by having tiny various. Whether it's some pills or like this, for example, is when I'm traveling. I put a whole bunch of like lens wipes. Lens wipes in a little Ziploc bag. So all I have to do is grab that or whatever there is. There's stuff that's organized like all like little batteries or tissues or Tylenol. Look it, here's a little Baggie of Tylenol. Come on, Jason.
Sujin Pak
I, I need to break it to you. Suchin generally puts her pills in her pocket. Like bare.
Jason Mantzoukas
Suchin just raw dogging her pills. Come on.
Sujin Pak
Oh, I've got. Guess what, Guess what. I've got a plastic bag organization system. I didn't have to buy this bag. This bag probably at one point held, I don't know, laundry detergent, slices of that. It had carrots in it.
Jason Mantzoukas
Turkey.
Sujin Pak
Okay. I wash it. I dry it out upside down because I'm not an animal. And then I'm like, oh, I need a place where I can put cotton wipes. Look at that. And yes, there's some problem. And sometimes.
Jason Mantzoukas
But my only beef is sometimes you're using.
Sujin Pak
Maybe I'll have to put, you know, some clips in there, and then I've got to put these.
Jason Mantzoukas
Why would you want to organize clips and cotton wipes together?
Sujin Pak
Who knows? I may need some luck. And then I just.
Jason Mantzoukas
Just twist it. This is madness.
Sujin Pak
I twist it.
Jason Mantzoukas
What you're showing me, this is.
Sujin Pak
And I put this whole thing in a car.
Jason Mantzoukas
This video alone, this coffee, this video alone. I could have you institutionalized.
Sujin Pak
And I put this. Oh. Oh, I'm the crazy one, Jason.
Jason Mantzoukas
Put all those things.
Sujin Pak
I love you, too.
Jason Mantzoukas
In one bag.
Sujin Pak
Fully. I. Fully, deeply. And I'll just keep putting things until it's full. And guess what? This is as organized as the 48,000 small bags within bags, within bins within bags, within drawstring bags. You could not be more wrong in this sitting. You have told me that in one bag goes all the tech, but in the other bag also goes just two pieces of tech, but then also a.
Jason Mantzoukas
Piece of other stuff. Other stuff also other stuff, yes. Because tech you always need. How often are you like, fuck where? Or are you like, fuck my. My ipod charger and so forth is at the bottom of my bag or is. So there's always an iPhone charger near. Near me whenever I love it. That's a. Like, redundancies make everything way easier.
Sujin Pak
That's right. One plus two is three, plus six is one.
Jason Mantzoukas
One is zero. Two is one, three is two.
Sujin Pak
Okay, good. Okay, got it.
Jason Mantzoukas
I'm having a great time. I'm having a great. That's the T shirt. That's the T shirt. That's the motto of Zook's cues. One is zero. Two is one. Episode one is zero.
Sujin Pak
Two is. So this is episode zero.
Jason Mantzoukas
This is episode zero.
Sujin Pak
What else do you have in your cart, Jay?
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, okay, hold on. What else do I have in my cart? Okay, so we went through the Tom Bin pouches. So the pouches are usually for my backpack. Like, everything that goes into my backpack is put in pouches. So that there is. And it's, you know, like tech. It's toiletries. It's a tool Kit. It's a first aid kit. It's all the, all the things. But for my. For packing cubes, I use these ones that I just sent you, the peak design packing cubes. They make, you know, they also make a lot of pouches, a lot of backpacks. I happen to love their packing cubes, both because of their size and because they. It contracts down into an even smaller form factor.
Sujin Pak
Okay, got it.
Jason Mantzoukas
So you can fit a lot into it. And they're really burly compressible and very strong compressible. Thank you. Thank you. And they're great. And so I put those in here just because they were in the picture I sent you of my suitcase because these are like how I pack all my clothes.
Sujin Pak
Because it actually you can fit. These are different than say just some cheapy old packing cubes which I have. And frankly, you don't use. I use much like this. I just have packing cubes filled with. Filled with nonsense. Because I'll go in there and I'm like, I guess I can put. I don't know what else can I fit in here? But this is interesting because what you're telling me is you can put a whole bunch of T shirts way more than you think you can because it actually compresses down.
Jason Mantzoukas
Correct.
Sujin Pak
So this is like a dual function.
Jason Mantzoukas
You are able to fit more as long as you. Again though, it sounds like you're a Chuck a bunch of stuff in a bag and see if you can get it shut person. You have to like fold everything and be a little bit more measured in how you put it all in. You can't just like cram it all in an old boar's head smoked turkey Ziploc bag from Gelson's.
Sujin Pak
You are dripping with judgement.
Jason Mantzoukas
You know what? I would love for us to try and travel together.
Sujin Pak
I hope.
Jason Mantzoukas
No, I mean that's a new show right there.
Sujin Pak
That is. You would never get out the door because of all.
Jason Mantzoukas
What are you doing?
Sujin Pak
The bags, the bags. Oh, wait, no, wait. The red bag. No, no, no. The red bag has the. Okay, no, no, no. Okay, start over. Start over. It's the blue bag with the orange tag. The blue bag with the orange tag has the Kleenex for your face, but the yellow bag with the strap. No. Right. We'd never leave.
Jason Mantzoukas
We would break up.
Sujin Pak
I gave you so many.
Jason Mantzoukas
We would break up instantly upon first attempt to travel.
Sujin Pak
I put it all in this endless.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yeah, you basically are the person who shows up at the airport with like a couple of plastic bags from. From Albertsons.
Sujin Pak
Correct. Correct. And then guess what? If I'm missing something, just pick it up. You know, pick it up at the cvs. Just pick it up.
Jason Mantzoukas
That's my whole thing is like, if I have to go to a place, if I have to find a pharmacy to pick up face wash in England, I'm like, I've failed. This is a failure on my part.
Sujin Pak
Well, that's the whole reason for the trip. We're supposed to go to a pharmacy to get a big part of her shopping. I love a furious typing of what places are open that I can get a suitcase at 11pm because I'm leaving tomorrow on a 6am flight.
Jason Mantzoukas
That's what you need. That's what you need your vacation to be set upon by panic that you don't have what you need.
Sujin Pak
I mean, that's the juice of life, you know what I mean?
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, boy. That is not the juice of life.
Sujin Pak
It really is. You're missing out. You're missing out. It's all dry out, Jolie.
Jason Mantzoukas
That's the jol.
Sujin Pak
All those packing cubes have soaked up the juice, okay? That's what they're for. They're for soaking up the juice.
Jason Mantzoukas
They're for organizing the juice of life.
Sujin Pak
Sometimes you want to sit in the juice. You know what I mean? Just get right in there.
Jason Mantzoukas
This is the sexiest episode of Add to Cart that's ever existed.
Sujin Pak
Of packing cubes with zucchini.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, just Zooks. This episode of Zooks Cubes brought to you by the Juice of Life.
Sujin Pak
Here we are.
Jason Mantzoukas

Of season three A.D. free. Do you ever catch yourself wondering, who am I without my job? Can we be friends if we disagree politically? Am I a bad daughter? If you're nodding along, you'll love our brand new podcast, I Feel that Way Too, where we explore life's trickiest questions through personal stories and inspiring interviews. In a world that insists on isolation, let's practice courage, healing, and hope together. Listen to I Feel that Way Too. Wherever you get your podcasts, Jay, what else do you have? What else do we have under this? Packing cubes. First of all, everything you've picked, it's very aesthetic, aesthetically pleasing. Just beautiful. Okay, agree.
Jason Mantzoukas
Fully agree 100%. This one here is an Evergoods bag that I showed you earlier, the really slim one that I love as well. Evergoods makes a number of incredible backpacks. The CPL24 is the one that I wear every day. This is like around town, kind of bopping around backpack or a weekend trip backpack. Incredibly well made, incredibly thoughtfully organized in like a beautiful bag.
Sujin Pak
Is this carry on size? Like, I can take this onto a wall.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, yeah.
Sujin Pak
This is even a good carry on backpack.
Jason Mantzoukas
Okay, so this is not just carry on size, but this is in fact like under the seat in front of you size. This is very manageable in that regard. Here's. You know what I'll send you as well, hopefully that you might also like that is a little bit smaller. This is a company called Bellroy. They also make incredible accessories pouches.
Sujin Pak
Ronny Chang, Ronny Cheng loves Bellroy.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, yeah, great.
Sujin Pak
I think they're Aussies. Yeah.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yes, they are. Exactly. Love this company. Love this backpack that I just sent. This and the Evergoods one are ones that I wear a ton, especially around town. Like if I'm. If I'm on a trip, if I'm taking a trip where I need to, where I need to have more space, where I need to be able to pack a lot more stuff. I carry one of the Tom Bin bags. The company we were looking at earlier, either the cynic 30 or the shadow Pack.
Sujin Pak
Shadow Pack.
Jason Mantzoukas
Guys, we are in it now. Shadow Pack, Juice of Life.
Sujin Pak
You're deep into Act 3. Juice of Life. We have sucked all the juice. If you came with any juice, it just did.
Jason Mantzoukas
We. I'm just checking now. Have we won any podcast awards yet? Have we won. Have we won any podcast awards immediately?
Sujin Pak
Let's check Peabody. Peabodys, Cleo's.
Jason Mantzoukas
We just wait. We. We're At Kennedy Center Honor.
Sujin Pak
Yes. Pack your cubes, honey. Cause we are going.
Jason Mantzoukas
That's how we should talk to you. Pack your cub and get out of here.
Sujin Pak
That's how you say goodbye to all of your guests.
Jason Mantzoukas
Pack your cubes.
Sujin Pak
Pack your cubes.
Jason Mantzoukas
Pack your cubes and hit the road, you turd.
Sujin Pak
How many backpacks do you believe you have?
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, my God. Oh, I have a lot of backpacks.
Sujin Pak
Buddy. Under. I have under the amount of tiny Ziploc clear bags.
Jason Mantzoukas
Let me tell you this. Let me tell you this. There are at least five more pouches within arm's distance from me currently.
Sujin Pak
I do. This is my question, and I'm not being. This isn't a funny question. This is an honest question.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, it's not funny. Suchin. It's not funny, but I bet it's gonna be funny. Go ahead. Yeah.
Sujin Pak
What I wanna know is they're all beautiful pouches. You're a beautiful pouch. I love you.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh, thank you.
Sujin Pak
I'm so happy you're here. But very few of those pouches are clear. Like, I can barely keep track of, like, what's in this thing? Like, I don't know. I got.
Jason Mantzoukas
Sure. I get what you mean.
Sujin Pak
Weird silk pouch from something. I don't know what's in it. I don't know.
Jason Mantzoukas
Got it.
Sujin Pak
Paper, you know.
Jason Mantzoukas
Well, but did you put those things in it? Or is that what came in at some point?
Sujin Pak
No, no, no, no. This. I don't know what came in this originally. There are just things in there.
Jason Mantzoukas
Okay.
Sujin Pak
I put it clear to me.
Jason Mantzoukas
You live in.
Sujin Pak
And then I put it right there. But. But I don't know what's in there. You know what I mean? Like recalling. And you've got 8,000, 468 pouches, right? Varying sizes. Like, when you look like, it gives me anxiety because I'm like. It's like playing memory, you know what I mean? With my child who's got a new brain.
Jason Mantzoukas
I know what you're saying.
Sujin Pak
And it's an old brain. And I keep flipping over cards and I'm like, where's the alligator? Where's the alligator? Where's the alligator? Where's the alligator? And I can't get the alligator. That's why everything is in this.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yes, I understand. And that. And I do get. And Tom Bin does make a pouch that is clear walls so you can see everything inside of it. For me, I tend to pack the same things in the same pouches. So each pouch has a specific use case. So, you know, I know If I need X, y, or z thing to grab exactly the blue pouch, that's a circle, or the red square or whatever. I know what each thing is. Essentially, just to combat exactly what you're describing, I don't wanna have to tear my whole suitcase apart trying to find nail clippers, you know? But I know there's a pair of nail clippers in here, so. Great. Got it. No, that's the. That's my toolkit, not my tech pouch. Even though there is an iPhone cord in it.
Sujin Pak
And a stylus. And a stylus.
Jason Mantzoukas
And a stylus. Yes. Because there's also a stylus in my pencil case.
Sujin Pak
Now, what if I went to your house while you slept? And I took.
Jason Mantzoukas
I'm listening.
Sujin Pak
And I took.
Jason Mantzoukas
I'm listening. I love where this is going.
Sujin Pak
A bunch of Ziploc bags, various sizes, and I emptied each pouch, the contents of each pouch into just one Ziploc bag. I'm not saying everything in one, but I'm saying, what if I replaced all your bags with clear Ziploc pouches? Does that give you anxiety?
Jason Mantzoukas
No. I mean. And then what? Do I have to travel with those Ziploc bags as my pouches?
Sujin Pak
Yes, I travel with Ziploc bags as my pouches.
Jason Mantzoukas
Okay, so how often. How often does that fail on you?
Sujin Pak
I mean, what do you mean by fail? You know, that's such a generous. That's such a generous word.
Jason Mantzoukas
Well, because one of the things that I like about the pouches that I use is that they are sturdy.
Sujin Pak
Oh, I see. I see.
Jason Mantzoukas
They are gonna open up. Nothing's gonna poke through them. Gonna open up. Nothing's gonna spill, nothing's gonna leak, Nothing's gonna get lost. Nothing's gonna. In fact, I have pouches. Tom Bin makes these pouches that go with their backpacks. So here's an example of one of their little guys, right? It's a little thing.
Sujin Pak
What's in it?
Jason Mantzoukas
It's a little Purell. All of my pouches have a little. A little. All of my pouches have a little. Basically, a little Ziploc that has Benadryl, Lactaid. You know, a little thing of that. It's got this little airplane travel thing that you plug into. You plug into the airplane and it allows your wireless Bluetooth headphones to get to connect to the movies on the plane.
Sujin Pak
Oh, there you go.
Jason Mantzoukas
So you don't have to use their. It's called Airfly Pro.
Sujin Pak
Wow.
Jason Mantzoukas
By a company called twelve South. You can you just plug it into the headphone jack on the behind the seat in front of you. And then your headphones connect to this thing and so you don't have to mess with any of the nonsense. So anyway, that's a good app.
Sujin Pak
That's a good hot start.
Jason Mantzoukas
All of this is, is in this little pouch as well as if I want a little, A little stand that my. If I am sitting that my iPhone can go on, you know, a little stand for your iPhone. Anyway, packs down flat. But the point of that, I wanted to. So this is the little pouch. This pouch has a little leash, right? And this little leash clips into the interior of the bag. So you pull this out, get whatever you need out of it, put it back in. It never gets lost, this thing.
Sujin Pak
Look at him. So many.
Jason Mantzoukas
Never gets lost.
Sujin Pak
Look at you. Your eyes are lit.
Jason Mantzoukas
Six cubes. I have never been more alive. Juice of life. Juice of life.
Sujin Pak
The Zeus of life. All right, all right, all right.
Jason Mantzoukas
The Zooks of life.
Sujin Pak
The Zeus of life. Yeah.
Jason Mantzoukas
Okay, so click on the Amazon link up here. I have sent you the Amazon link for the card game Monopoly Deal.
Sujin Pak
What is this?
Jason Mantzoukas
Get involved. Monopoly Deal is a card game version of the board game. The very boring, tedious board game Monopoly. But it is a very fun, quick card game played in 15 minutes exactly. So each round is like 15 minutes and it's very cutthroat and competitive and it's very. You get to like really fuck people over and get to like steal their stuff. It's so fun. It's great. This has been a part of like mine and my friends lives for the last bunch of years. Actually, the last bunch of years leading up to the pandemic, not during the pandemic. I used to have a group of friends that would meet every Sunday at a wine bar at 4 o' clock to just have, have, have wine and play this game. And it was absolutely fantastic. And it's really fun. Very easy, very easy to kind of get up to speed. Very easy to figure out. And then it's just ruthless. So it's a blast. Monopoly deal. I mean, get the green pack. Get the green pack, not the blue pack.
Sujin Pak
Okay, I already added to Cart because. Yeah, because the thing with Monopoly. God, God bless board games, it's awful. No, and, and it goes on for, I mean, a game can go on. We've had games go on here for, you know, a week, you know, and you have to gently push the board down, you know what I mean? And then, or, or, you know, take a picture of the board because my son likes to cheat a little I'm not saying he's a cheater, but he likes to cheat a little. You take a picture of the board so you know how much everybody has, and you come back to it and it always ends up with somebody in tears just because of the length of it.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yes, exactly. And that's what this exactly combats. This is also a game that can be played with two people or three people or four people. It's like it does it. You can play the game whenever, you know, you don't have to have all the nonsense and all the hotels and houses and all that. All that nonsense. So it's, it's a blast. And it's really fucking fun and really rowdy, you know, because people really can fuck each other over and it's fun.
Sujin Pak
I mean, Jason, we have to wrap it up.
Jason Mantzoukas
No.
Sujin Pak
What? What do you mean, no?
Jason Mantzoukas
Jason. I refuse. I refuse. Wait. Oh, so you're saying we're wrapping up add to cart, but we're going to keep going with Zooks Cubes episode one.
Sujin Pak
Episode zero one is one and six is two.
Jason Mantzoukas
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Zooks Cubes, Episode zero, the Juice of Life.
Sujin Pak
It feels. Our podcast feels so enmeshed, so entangled at this point. I don't know how we stop one and continue on with the other. JH, it's true. You just have to come on every week and tell us about your cubes. You know what I mean? Like, no, wait, did you say cubes or pubes? I didn't hear.
Jason Mantzoukas
Oh boy, get it down.
Sujin Pak
I definitely said cubes.
Jason Mantzoukas
Class it up.
Sujin Pak
Hello, this is Zooks Cubes.
Jason Mantzoukas
By the way, I'd probably get. If I was to open Zook's Cubes on Patreon, I'd probably get more money opening Zook's Pubes on OnlyFans.
Sujin Pak
Multiple revenue streams. I mean, at that point, one of the only ways your fans could interface with you on social media, so. That's right. I mean, exactly.
Jason Mantzoukas
I'm not on social media, just only on pbs except for my user supported pubes or cubes content streams. Oh boy.
Sujin Pak
What's left? What's left?
Jason Mantzoukas
This is why, I mean, you want to know what's left? I'll give you a heads up as to what was left.
Sujin Pak
What was left? Please tease us.
Jason Mantzoukas
Okay.
Sujin Pak
Tease us.
Jason Mantzoukas
Audible, audible. The audiobook company specifically I chose to highlight.
Sujin Pak
He can't even say it. He can't even say it. He's laughing too hard.
Jason Mantzoukas
I want to foreground the fact that I am a single 50 year old man. And what I wanted to promote was the Star Wars Thrawn series. Grand Admiral Thrawn series written by Timothy Zahn.
Sujin Pak
Again on audible fake words. Again. What is this?
Jason Mantzoukas
Thrawn. Gurgling alliances and treason on audiobook. Get him.
Sujin Pak
Thrawn. And that's spelled F, R O T, H, Y, N. Thrawn.
Jason Mantzoukas
No, it's no T H.
Sujin Pak
What is that?
Jason Mantzoukas
T, H, R A W, N. Wow, this is amazing.
Sujin Pak
Jesus.
Jason Mantzoukas
So, Chin, I'm gonna need to talk to you offline. We're gonna need to talk about a lot of stuff.
Sujin Pak
Is there a W in it? Are you being serious? Yes, there's a W. Why are you gonna make me defend you, Jason?
Jason Mantzoukas
Yeah, yeah, Cool off. Knows. She watched Rebels. I made her watch Rebels. And she did do it.
Sujin Pak
I did it. I have better friends. I know so much about Star wars and I do enjoy it. I do enjoy it. Oh, my God. Okay, we have to end the podcast.
Jason Mantzoukas
We have to end.
Sujin Pak
Okay, make sure you. You can't follow Jason anywhere. So you must follow us at.

Four years ago, my dad was killed in a mass shooting. My podcast, Senseless is about moving forward after the unthinkable. Senseless from Lemonada Media premiering June 17th.
In this special episode titled "The Best of Add to Cart: Zouk’s Cubes (Episode Zero)," hosts Kulap Vilaysack and SuChin Pak take a humorous and introspective look back at over a hundred episodes of their podcast. Acknowledging their extensive history, they jest about starting fresh with this premiere "episode zero," setting the stage for a new venture while celebrating their journey.
Kulap Vilaysack (01:18):
"We fucked up. We did. And what do you mean by that?"
SuChin Pak (01:21):
"I think we should trash our prior episodes. And this is our first episode right here."
The episode introduces comedian-actor Jason Mantzoukas as their esteemed guest. Known for his dynamic presence and creative endeavors, Jason’s involvement promises a blend of humor and insightful discussions.
Kulap Vilaysack (02:35):
"Please add to Cart. Jason Manduke. I mean, in the flesh."
Jason Mantzoukas (03:15):
"The amount I know about you in your life would shock you."
The conversation swiftly shifts to a light-hearted debate about socks, specifically "Darn Tough" socks. This segment highlights their differing preferences and introduces playful banter about innovative sock designs, such as drug pockets.
SuChin Pak (04:12):
"Now you're meeting, but I want to guess that you both are wearing the same socks right now."
Jason Mantzoukas (05:27):
"Why don't socks have drug pockets?"
SuChin Pak (05:58):
"Sock, Drug pocket. Question mark."
Jason Mantzoukas (06:01):
"Drug sock. How about a drug sock?"
Transitioning from socks, the hosts delve into a discussion about footwear, comparing minimalist barefoot shoes with maximalist options like Hokas. They explore the importance of arch support and the impact of footwear choices on daily comfort.
SuChin Pak (06:14):
"I'm not supposed to spend so much time without any arch support."
Jason Mantzoukas (07:04):
"Hokas changed everything for me."
SuChin Pak (08:06):
"Isn't this like the way that you end up in Uggs?"
A significant portion of the episode is dedicated to discussing organizational tools, particularly packing cubes and pouches. Jason shares his meticulous approach to organization, emphasizing redundancy and specificity in his packing system, while Sujin reveals a more spontaneous style.
Jason Mantzoukas (12:16):
"I'm always having two to three of any item in stock, quote, unquote."
SuChin Pak (14:37):
"I'm exhausted just hearing this. Trial and error to get you to this ninja-like level is a series of books."
Amidst the organizational discourse, Kulap and Sujin announce the inception of a side podcast named "Zooks Cubes." This new segment focuses exclusively on packing organization, reflecting their passion for efficient travel gear management.
Jason Mantzoukas (20:07):
"Zooks Cubes. Zooks Cubes. Zooks Cubes."
SuChin Pak (21:52):
"Hello, this is Zooks Cubes."
The hosts and Jason enthusiastically discuss various brands and products that aid in organization and travel efficiency. Brands like Tom Bin, Evergoods, Peak Design, and Bellroy are highlighted for their innovative designs and utility.
Jason Mantzoukas (34:03):
