Sujin Park
Also with that fire Boy. Wait.
Beth
Welcome back to Add to cart. It's mid March and I'm your auntie Kulap Vilay Sa.
Sujin Park
Happy New Year. I'm your other auntie, Sujin Park. I just. I want to say that with each passing month I have to reset New Year.
Kulap Vilay
You know what I mean?
Sujin Park
Just because.
Beth
And what does that mean to you?
Sujin Park
What that means to me is January is a loss. Every. That we can agree on.
Beth
Absolutely.
Sujin Park
February for personal reasons was a loss.
Kulap Vilay
Not.
Sujin Park
Not literally, but we may get into that at some future episode. And so March is a reset and I'm saying it's Happy New year. This is 2025is starting now with the buds of spring.
Beth
So Suchin, it's confused. You know, some. Some listeners may be confused because you are Korean American. So Suchin is not speaking about the Gregorian calendar. She's not speaking about lunar calendar. She is speaking about coffin calendar. According to Suchinpo.
Sujin Park
Correct. Anyway, you know, and it's our pod, so time is our plaything here.
Beth
That's true. That's true. And yet I feel that you say time is our plaything and I. And from where I'm standing, I am times plaything.
Sujin Park
Oh, what does that mean?
Beth
Time be fucking with me. And I'm going to be honest with you, I don't think you're fucking with time. I think time be fucking with you as well.
Sujin Park
Okay.
Beth
And.
Sujin Park
And do you. Okay, you go into that way. Why? Because you're feeling your age? Because you're feeling.
Beth
I don't mean this is not just you, Sujin, but I don't believe that you are in any control of time.
Sujin Park
Oh, yeah, no, no, not literal.
Beth
And so who's in control? Who's the omnipresent as we march towards death? And you know, it's twin sister, which is time. We are time's bitch. Is my point to you, Suchinpah?
Sujin Park
Yeah. She's the ultimate. The ultimate Judge Judy. Yes. The ultimate Dom. Whips and chains. That truly is. In February, that reckoning came to me like an air conditioning unit falling on a New Yorker's head out of nowhere. Always fearing it, knowing that the time would come one day when you.
Beth
But you're going about your business.
Sujin Park
But you're going about your business. What are you gonna do? Leave the greatest city on earth? No.
Beth
Well, I guess you are in that sense.
Sujin Park
Ultimately, you dust yourself off. Aren't you dead? And you get to the meeting.
Beth
I mean, who's to say?
Sujin Park
You know, who's to say where it clipped and how fast it was falling and how high? I'm just saying, inevitably, that is, I think when I was living in New York, my number one greatest fear of living in that city anyway.
Beth
Really? That is fascinating. Wow.
Sujin Park
Really? You've been to New York?
Beth
Because that's. That's really so specific. But I. I'm going to New York. But I am truly visiting. I've never spent more than five days in New York.
Sujin Park
Oh, okay. Got it. Yeah.
Beth
So that to me, yeah, that. That's.
Sujin Park
And then everyone living in New York or having lived in New York is like, what the hell is this lady talking about? But truly, that, at least for me, that was my experience is one of these days. I mean, and I'm sure if I googled it, there have to be air conditioners falling on people or falling near people or falling out of windows every single day. In that city.
Beth
What? I didn't expect you to say that.
Sujin Park
I don't understand.
Beth
I thought your point. You're was going to be like.
Sujin Park
What?
Beth
I thought we were gonna end that.
Sujin Park
Yeah.
Beth
Was you're gonna go. Obviously, like, statistically that does not happen.
Sujin Park
Obviously you never. When you said obviously you've never installed a window air conditioner.
Beth
I've never installed an air conditioner of any type, of any modality of any.
Sujin Park
Yeah, that shows. That shows. New fresh one. Great.
Beth
You know what? That is the fantasy. And that's how I want all of you to see me. That the bougie's auntie on this pod.
Kulap Vilay
Her paws.
Beth
Are you surprised?
Sujin Park
Moist and soft.
Beth
That's absolutely right. Yeah. Wow. What a check in suchin. You know, I. Yeah. I didn't know where we went we would go, you know, and you never know.
Sujin Park
You never know when we check in with each other. It's an ER trip. Some teeth have fallen out. Air conditioning unit fears. You don't know. Yeah.
Beth
God, I guess that was. It made me think like the one thing that I am irrationally afraid of.
Sujin Park
Yeah.
Beth
Is being on a cruise and falling into the ocean. Falling or being pushed. Now I know statistically that that isn't. You know, that doesn't happen a lot. But Tiff, young Tiff, young man. And Tiff says that's valid. Is it? So that's it. See, you know, so it's interesting. It's interesting, is it?
Sujin Park
You're being pushed off of a cruise ship in.
Beth
I'm pushed, I stumble, I murder. Murder. What am I ridiculous here? Some crazy likes my cruise wear. Likes it so much that she's. She.
Sujin Park
She.
Beth
And that, by the way, that rarely happens. But she is so, so taken by the law, by me and my essence.
Sujin Park
Yes.
Beth
She knows that the two of us cannot exist.
Sujin Park
This is getting more and more ridiculous as you're explaining and getting into it. Oh, just even more ridiculous. But I mean, you're not a cruise person.
Beth
No, I'm not a cruise person. And because of this, because of this.
Sujin Park
And nobody wants to murder you.
Beth
What came first? Was I a cruise person or this fear? You know what? Hard to say.
Sujin Park
I know I'm not one to talk. Yeah. Who am I to check?
Beth
You should talk. Ah, wow. Here we are again, resetting, setting the table for everybody mid March. And this is where we're at.
Sujin Park
Yes, that's where I'm at, babe.
Beth
But yep, you are pretty decisive about your add to carts this week. We got some game changers. We've got. I'M going to be talking about an upcoming getaway family getaway.
Sujin Park
Good.
Beth
You know, there. I don't know. I'm gonna. We don't know if we're gonna talk about this, but there's a chance we're gonna be talking about Bender's feet. I mean, if you don't come back after this break, I don't know what's wrong with you. We'll be right back on Etsy Card.

Beth
And we are back on. Add to Cartsuchin. Let's start with your game changers.
Sujin Park
Okay, I have some game changers and the definition of a game changer, it is subjective and it can be a huge game changer and it can be a very personal game changer. And I bring you two, I bring you first. A very personal game changer. This is a shout out to our producer Young Tiffany. I marveled at the state of her hair in one of our zooms and she said, oh, I use this curling iron. And I believe if I'm not incorrect, that she showed us how to use that curling iron on one of our Instagram posts.
Beth
Well, yes, this is how she launched her influence, her influencial career.
Sujin Park
Oh wait, I did reach out to them. Hopefully they'll give us a discount code. So let me give you just the quick My Achilles heel when it comes to pulling myself together is my hair has always been. I can patch up a makeup job, I can put together an outfit. My hair.
Beth
Yeah you can.
Sujin Park
Is I want to say so many things but they're all offensive.
Beth
My hair look when we're in this mid March state of mind, I think you just let it rip. Go ahead, Sue.
Sujin Park
My hair is insane. Asylum escaping from a penitentiary. That is the style of my hair. It is a little wiry, erratic. There's no rhyme or reason. There's things in it that are holding it up that don't work. You know, all of that. I've got bald spots here and there that I'm working on. There's just. It's a construction site.
Beth
Okay.
Kulap Vilay
Okay.
Beth
Thank you for that.
Sujin Park
You're welcome. I needed to set that scene. And so I have bought everything for your hair that people are like, oh, all you need is this. I've bought Velcro curlers, heat up curlers. I bought 4 inch barrels, 1 inch barrel, 2 inch barrels. I bought the thing with the triples, the triple barrels. I've had every single device, and nothing works like it. That just, like. I'm not one of those people that, like, is crafty with hair. And so when Tiff suggested this, I really hesitated. I saw her video and I said, God, that does seem very deceptively easy. And so I said, fine, let me get this thing and try it.
Beth
And so again, Tiffany, her influencer video, influenced you. Wow.
Sujin Park
I mean, the.
Beth
The student has become the master.
Sujin Park
The student has always been the master.
Beth
That's.
Sujin Park
That's what I'm learning. What I'm learning is, is that generally her wrecks are. I don't know if they're for everyone. They're for me. Like, she's got wrecks for clothes and makeup and all of that. And it's just for some reason, she's like, bullseye. She's hitting me, you know, right in the solar plexus. And so she shows a little bit.
Beth
More skin than you do, though, I would say. Yeah.
Sujin Park
No, I mean, she's completely different and dewy and gorgeous. I'm not saying we're the same. I'm just saying her reps just work. And so I took this device. There's so many things about this device that are game changing. It's called the Tymo Tymo. T Y M O. Okay, open this up.
Beth
Looking at it.
Sujin Park
Okay. And it's a curling iron. It's a portable curling iron. So did I do my hair before my daughter's jazz performance the other night? Because I had to get her there an hour early for pre rehearsal. Yeah, I just had a rice bowl and did my hair in the car. And it's a curling iron. Wow. Wow.
Beth
No wire.
Sujin Park
No wire.
Beth
No wire.
Sujin Park
No wire. It's A curling iron that curls your hair for you, meaning that you don't have to move.
Beth
The barrel rotates, and we know from day one of ADD to cart how weak your wrists are.
Sujin Park
When I tell you I'm in coffin mode while this thing goes on, not only does it rotate, it has a protective cover. So unless you're a complete moron, you'll never touch the heat. You know what I mean? You'll never burn yourself. I have scars from curling irons from high school all on my forehead, the back of my neck. I'm just not adept. As I told you. I have very weak wrists, and I'm not crafty. So there's that number three is that it has a timer, okay? So you do. You go g and it. And you just hold it there, and then it goes beep. And then you take it out, and then you go to your next thing. So you don't even have to, like, count. Do you see what I mean?
Beth
You just have to look in the mirror. It sounds like you don't.
Sujin Park
Not really. There's a little tiny bit. And please, please look at Tiff's video, because that's what I looked at, to just understand the mechanics of it. And it's very simple, but you do have to understand the mechanics of it. Just basic. I don't know if it comes in other sizes. I don't think it does. It doesn't do any other thing than this one type of curl. And the type of curl that it does is a loose beach wave. Okay.
Beth
Oh, wow.
Sujin Park
There's no bells or whistles. That's it. You want a tight curl, great. You want a looser curl, great. There's something else out there for you. This isn't. Does change the direction of your curl, but even that, like, I just do one side in one direction and one side in the other direction. It's one style of hair, and at 50, it's basically what I want. I want a wig.
Beth
Oh, so do I. You're not 50 yet, but, yeah, continue.
Sujin Park
Yeah, at approaching 50 on the Runway. I want a wig in the morning.
Beth
I want wigs, my friend.
Sujin Park
I don't even want wigs. That's the thing. I just want one wig that works for me, and I. And I don't have to think about it. It doesn't change with my mood or my outfit. It works with everything. And this is that device.
Beth
Now, is it going to work? It's 69.99. You can get it corded or cordless. Sounds like you got it. Cordless yes. And it comes in pink or gray. What did you get?
Sujin Park
Pink, because I'm a princess.
Beth
Love it. And I interrupted you. What were you going to say?
Sujin Park
I don't remember.
Beth
That was my mistake and I apologize. I shouldn't have done that. We didn't need a crystal ball to know that that was what was gonna happen. And I take that on me. That's on me.
Sujin Park
I just have to warn you today. I just have to warn you yesterday, zero brain fog. Today, 48 out of 49.
Beth
In terms of brain fog and why you're gonna have fog range 1 to 49. Who the knows the menopause.
Sujin Park
I mean, we started this recording in a life raft with holes in it like we could not get our together. And by the way, I set up this microphone.
Kulap Vilay
How.
Sujin Park
How many?
Beth
Five.
Sujin Park
Five years. Five years we've been doing this. And I was like, not sure that this is how I'm supposed to set up my microphone today as I'm launching Expedia. No. Quicktime.
Beth
Yeah. So anywho, it's tough when you, you know, I. My woo woo ass. Yeah. Well, I want to say Mercury's in retrograde, but it's not. Oh, no, no, no. These two aunties been retrograding. Been degrading. Like I said, aunties degrade times are dumb, degradation times.
Sujin Park
Our zoom. Okay, okay.
Beth
So you're selling me on this.
Sujin Park
Okay, I know what I was gonna say. Thank you. I don't know what it's gonna be like on curly hair. I don't. You know what I mean? Like, I don't know. All I know is if you've got hair that at one point put in a beachy wave, this is for you.
Beth
Okay.
Sujin Park
Okay.
Beth
Okay. I like that very much. You know, I've had to just accept with my. My silver hair that I have to blow dry it. It dries pretty fast. But it doesn't look right. It doesn't look. It looks rough. It's. It's catch. It's catch. Can. If I don't do that, it starts to just look so janky. And that's where I'm at. And that's fine. As I approach speedily towards 45. That. That's. If that's what I have to do every time I wash my hair, I have to have to fold that in. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Time you got me again.
Sujin Park
I'm on my hands and knees drinking out of a milk jar.
Beth
So your baby girl.
Sujin Park
God, that was terrible. God, that was terrible. Can I just. Out of the blue, Remove from fucking cart, baby girl. What the hell was that?
Beth
Speak on its, sister. Speak on it, sister.
Sujin Park
Okay, I'm gonna put aside that actor. Hot. Fine. I'll drink milk out of his bowl any day. The rest of it, garbage. I had a porn. It wasn't porn. Tiffany asked, was it just porn? I mean. No, because it wasn't at all titillating. It was just weird and grotesque. I don't even know what the plot of the thing was. I don't even know. I don't even know what it was. What was the plot?
Beth
Well, you know, a boss lady just wasn't hurt. You know, she's hurt at work, not hurt at home. And it took a.
Sujin Park
That's not even true. Because she has a wonderful husband played by equally hot Antonio Banderas. What was that choice?
Beth
But. But at the end, she needed. She wanted a little bit. She wanted to be. She wanted her kid to have a.
Sujin Park
You know what. And if there's children listening. Let's fast forward through this. But it reminds me of the conversation we had about season one of. What's that, Bridgerton?
Beth
Yeah.
Sujin Park
And I forget it Wasn't the plot something like, don't come in me? Like, was that the plot?
Beth
No, no, she didn't want to come in.
Sujin Park
Yes. It was something so stupid.
Beth
And then she was like.
Sujin Park
She was just.
Beth
She sort of raped him then. She sort of raped him.
Sujin Park
Sure. Her trying to get this guy. Then there was marital rape to come in her. That was the whole series. I was like, I can't get down with this plot. This plot is. I can't come. That's not a movie. The movie. You can't pitch a movie and say, well, what is the plot? What is the. What are we working towards? I can't come. I'm sorry. Your marriage is perfect. You're married to a super hot guy.
Beth
It wasn't perfect. The only one reason wasn't perfect is.
Sujin Park
Because she couldn't come. Yeah. Guess what? Join the fucking millions of the rest of us. What the hell is that? So you're gonna give up your billion dollar company? You're gonna give up Antonio Banderas, arguably looking the hottest he's ever looked, who's attentive and kind? You're gonna give up your family, your reputation because you can't come?
Beth
I don't disagree with you. I don't. I actually don't. I was like. I watched it and I was like, this is a real head scratcher for me. I'm not. I'm not really. This isn't I don't know, it didn't hit me. But then I have friends who have seen it multiple times in theaters and loved it.
Sujin Park
So.
Beth
Yeah, look, I'm on the same page with you friend.
Sujin Park
Okay, sorry. I digress. That was a remove from car.
Beth
What a beautiful digression though. And that's really what a mid March auntie is going to give you.
Sujin Park
All right, you go. What's in your car?
Beth
Well, you don't want to go. You don't want to make a hard right into your next game changer. Sure, I'll go next. I think that's a good idea. Suchin looking ahead. That's probably right. Sujin Park. We. We. This weekend, the Aerman are venturing for Emmy's first snow day. Wow. Yes. Yes. And you know, unlike the benders and despite me growing up in very snowy Minnesota, we're not a ski family. You know, I'm an apres ski person. I said that to you after your ski.
Kulap Vilay
Of course.
Sujin Park
I. I relate.
Beth
Yeah. So we are driving 40 miles to Wrightwood to the. The Mountain High resort. Have you familiar?
Sujin Park
I've heard of it.
Beth
This place? Yeah. Not me because of the things I just said. We're going to the Yeti snow play. So that's just their area where you can, you can sled, you can tube, you can just play in the snow which is. That's what age.
Sujin Park
That's. That's Disneyland.
Beth
It's Disneyland. Now we're going late in the season, you know, so there's. There, there's snow. Top of the week. Did I look at the live snow cams? Yes, there are snow on the slopes in this area, not so much. Will it likely that she's just going to kind of be putting around in dirty snow? Yeah, that's probably what is going to happen. And this all came about because we have friends. Their daughter EZ Ezra was born on the same day as Emmy. And so we call them the birthday twins. And as he sent like, I think she sent a video and was like, Emmy, do you want to build a snowman? And it was so cute. And they both have like they're dipping their toes into the world of Frozen. And you know, and I was like, yeah, I guess we're going like it was, it was that it's truly just.
Sujin Park
That as a mother to make all of her dreams come true.
Beth
Yeah, it's her dreams go true. But then I also know that I have to prep her a month in advance because she doesn't like to wear a jacket. It is all of these sort of, like, I have a few parenting styles. One is I let her scream and yell because I. I want to hear her primal cries. I want to make sure that they're both loud. And, you know, this. She's. That is gonna be a big part of my training. Of course, when she turns three.
Sujin Park
Well, she's a wolf cub.
Beth
That's right. Three. Everything's fine. Well, get in. You know, you mentioned that your daughter has jazz, had a jazz performance. Emmy has had three classes of ballet, and that's not something I am interested in or thought that I wanted her to do, but she seems to be interested in it as well. Fine. But at three, when she turns three, we're doing our Hana Warrior training. So you do your ballet now. You do your ballet. That's fine. But as soon as three happens, we're hitting that. We're hitting that kickbag. We're, you know, Mini Chuck. I'm already prepping Chucks. I'm like, what do you hear? What do you see outside? You know, I'm getting her in this sort of, like, what do you see Mode. Okay. Yeah, that's right.
Sujin Park
Which way is the wind blowing?
Beth
That's right. What's that? Is that a bird or is it this? You know, we're already there. Okay. If she wants, you know. Oh, okay. I mean, we'll do this, we'll do that. Three.
Sujin Park
It's warrior training. Warrior three, yeah. Oh, God, that's amazing.
Beth
Well, it's. Yeah. And it's. For me, I also want to challenge her, like, do Going on these trips and doing things like this is just so that she is. Can be a little flexible. She's able to sleep in different places. This is all part of my, like, design. And just to get us. She's having her. Is such an opportunity for me and Scott to do things that we wouldn't do as well. So it's for. It's. It's for the betterment of all of us. But, you know, there is a sort of bit of a. Let's see. Like, you know, it took me about two weeks for her to accept the snow boots. It takes, you know, it's just sort of a bit of a. Everything is a sort of process.
Sujin Park
I'm just amazed that you are approaching it so methodically. I'm not surprised, but just amazed at it because, like, this is the parenting guide that most people need. I certainly need it because I'm like, their day of just throwing things on and leaving things on planes. Like, I have no idea what works. And what doesn't work? I have, like, my children surprise me every single day with who they are and what they say. So I love that, at least for you. Like, let's go into it with a plan. I mean, let's try to make this as painless as possible.
Beth
Yeah. I mean, what I understand is that in the planning, pain will happen. That's inevitably. I. I don't want it as a, you know, as a. A point on. On my given, but it. It's a given. It's a given.
Sujin Park
That's the given. It's how. What level are you at? 48? Or are you at 2? You know, that's right.
Beth
That's right. In the fog of Suchin's. Really, Actually, at some point, I do really want to drill down on this brain fog range that you have, this sort of scientific good luck. Okay. Good luck. She said good luck to me.
Sujin Park
That's why it's called a fog.
Kulap Vilay
Try to drill.
Sujin Park
Try to pin it down. Please, I beg you, if you will.
Beth
You know what I hear? I hear that reflected upon me. And again, I own up to that. And that was a mistake to even suggest.
Sujin Park
No. One day, when this gorgeous show wraps, and I will get a call out of the blue.
Beth
Yeah.
Sujin Park
And it will be off mic, and you will say, I'm 48. I'm out of 48. It's all coming. The time. Time gal is visiting all of us. It's. It's here. I've talked about it. This is what it feels like.
Beth
Yeah. Okay. All right. How filled with dread. All right, let's move. I am going to post a picture of Emmy's fit, which I, of course, am really proud of. I won't be posting this photo of me and Emmy, but the outfit, I'm just showing it to Suchin and Tony and Tiffany of us posing with it. And, you know, for my daughter, to get her into things is hyping. Yeah, it's hyping.
Sujin Park
She won't wear hats. She wants things to be.
Beth
Yeah. You gotta gas her up. You gotta make it fun. You gotta add music.
Sujin Park
Music. You gotta sing a song about it.
Beth
Oh, well, right now, I think we had just been playing Lady Gaga's Abracadabra, which is her new favorite song.
Sujin Park
Done.
Beth
And so things can happen during Lady Gaga's Abracadabra.
Sujin Park
What a curator of taste this young one is already.
Beth
Oh, yeah. I'm so. I'm like, I'm looking forward to this. But also, you know, we'll just. You know, we're just gonna see what we're gonna see. I've never been to Wrightwood. I set up a Google Maps saved list of restaurant options and, you know, coffee places. And we're just gonna go from there. We're just gonna go Friday night, Saturday night, be home on Sunday.
Sujin Park
Listen, these little weekend jaunts that, that you're doing solo and with Scott, this is the best way to travel with a two year old.
Beth
Okay?
Sujin Park
Just a little taste, a little, you know, and you continue to spread those wings, you know, get them flapping, get those muscles built.
Beth
Yes, yes.
Sujin Park
To really take flight.
Beth
Thank you. Thank you for endorsing my lifestyle.
Sujin Park
Of course.
Beth
We're gonna take another break. We're gonna take our second break and then we're gonna get back to Suchin's Game Changers and maybe, maybe something else. Maybe a little something else. We'll let sue decide.

Parents, we've all been there. The afternoon rush, I call it. Kids slam through the door, never hang up their coats and scream, I'm hungry. Panicked, you rifle through the snack closet and it's junk. Beth
And we're back on. Add to Cartoon Pac. Give us a game changer.
Sujin Park
So I gave you a game changer that was very personal. It's a small game changer, but it has changed my life. This is a game changer I hope everyone can get on board with. So I came across this post and while this is not news, I'm just gonna say that day it really struck home and she said something to the effect of, listen, you're supposed to be confused. And I'm talking about what's happening in the news. This is by design. If you feel overwhelmed, that's because you're.
Kulap Vilay
Supposed to feel overwhelmed.
Sujin Park
This is the strategy of what is happening in the world.
Beth
And talking about the administration, talking about the onslaught.
Sujin Park
And I just, and I have been feeling overwhelmed like all of us have been. It doesn't matter where you stand on in politics. It doesn't matter. I think both sides, I think it's all overwhelming for everyone. And so that then is a strategy to paralyze us, paralyze us into doing like, well, I don't know what what do we do? What do we do? You know, And I've been feeling that and trying to figure out, like, well, yes, I think taking care of myself and not engaging in news for years has been for my mental health. But at some point you're gonna have, you know, I feel like I have to like, dip in. And then I saw someone talk about this app. It's called the five Calls app. And what I'm going to say to you is, this is perfect activism for introverts. This is perfect activism for people who are busy. This is perfect activism for anyone feeling overwhelmed, wanting to do something but have no idea where. Where to start and is not going to, for whatever reason, you know, volunteer at a, you know, at a place or walk in a march. So it's the five Calls app. And basically, if you click on the link there, I have the app on my phone. I don't know if you could put this on your desktop. It looks like you almost can, but it's an app that is. I put on my phone.
Kulap Vilay
And it gives you a list.
Sujin Park
This is what I also love about it. It just gives you a running list of all the topics that are out there. So, by the way, also kind of good to see what, what is going on out there because it's. That's even hard to figure out. Like, I don' Know what the news is anymore. Like, I don't even know what, what are the issues. And, and, and oh, sue, just so I to.
Beth
Because you asked about it. So you, you've got the five Calls app. You can also on your desktop, go to five calls dot org.
Sujin Park
Okay. So that's what it is on the desktop. And so you pick an issue and then you put in your zip code and it gives you exactly who your representatives are. Okay. Then it gives you a phone number and you click on it and you can call. Now, I would give you a hot tip if you're like me and talking on the phone with a stranger gives you extreme anxiety. I've been doing this. I set an alarm for 9:30pm I've been doing it when the office is closed and just leaving a voicemail. And so you don't. Yeah, you don't have to talk to anyone. This has been the easiest thing. I put the alarm on so I, I don't forget. And I make a call. 2, 3, 4, 5. It takes five minutes. They have a script for you. All you're doing is reading the screen. It's so easy. And I've heard of other apps, organizations doing this I have not seen something so streamlined and so simple as this. And I was like, wow, this is too easy. And so I just kind of did some research. I'm like, does calling your representative make a difference? It must make some difference, but does it make enough of a difference? And the overwhelming response as I'm looking at this research is it makes a huge difference. I think in proportion to the energy and effort you're putting out, it is a game changer. So when you call, your messages are logged and relayed to your representative. And they have staff monitoring these calls, and every single call is logged. And so when the staffers get a bunch of calls around one issue, that issue moves up the priority list and gets seen by the lawmaker. Emails and letters are great, but they say calls are more powerful and they're more closely logged than emails and letters. And yes, activism on social media is great and don't stop doing that, but those aren't really logged. And listen, it's a phone call. It doesn't even feel like I'm doing anything, you know? And so there is a little bit of like, oh, this feels a little bit like a cheat code. But I do have to say that, like, if enough calls.
Beth
But maybe we need cheat codes.
Sujin Park
Yes. And if enough calls come in about any single issue, it will absolutely 100% get the attention of your legislators. An elected official, for example, a senator or a congressperson, they. 50% of their time is devoted to reelection. That's what they spend their time in the office doing. So when they get these calls and when they get massive amounts of calls on a particular issue or several issues, those really impact the way that this lawmaker pushes through certain legislation or makes their voice heard. And I think that I didn't really understand the impact of these calls. And I've been asked to do phone banks. I just. It gives me so much anxiety to talk to a human being that, like, I just say, it's just not me. And this leaving voicemails and just reading off my phone. No brainer.
Beth
This is a bit of an aside, kind of. But I do enjoy you talking in this way. Of course, do I like to hear you rant about baby girl. But equally, I enjoy this sort of journalistic voice you have. And it just makes me think, like, are you. Are you totally retired in that realm? Would you. If somebody came to you and was like, hey, sue, we need you back on the desk, would you.
Sujin Park
Oh, I mean, that's such a loaded question. I mean, I'm talking about what's My call time in the morning. How often. You know what I mean? Is it from the waist up? Are there other people involved? You know what I'm saying?
Beth
Yeah. Well, look, gone are the days where you're on the ski slope and people just prop you up like, you know, like. Like a mannequin, a rag doll. Yeah, Like, I know that. I know that. That's gone. We're not doing standups that way.
Sujin Park
But, like, listen, I mean, that's why.
Beth
I have ADD to cart. Yeah, true. This is it.
Sujin Park
This is me doing the journalism that I want to do that I care about, and it's the journalism that, like, that excites me, which is, like. It just works, you know? Like, that's the other thing about news. What? We don't want to get into this, but it just. To me, it's one of the reasons why I stepped back from it is like the whole point of news is so muddled and not good anymore that I don't even feel good about. I wouldn't feel good about it unless it was something like this. It was, like, actionable. It was honest. It was. You know what I mean? No agenda, just telling you like it is. And I don't know that that news, that's not news anymore. You know, news is now about just getting clicks and headlines and making everything sensational on both sides. Both sides, all parties are guilty. So that's my sort of medium to long answer to that wonderful question.
Beth
Well, also, you mentioned that, you know, every network you've ever worked for has gone defunct.
Sujin Park
I am the next and most unseen Marvel comic hero. And what is that power? It is not to shrink into an ant size. I don't even know if that's Marvel. Don't come at me with that.
Beth
It is. It is.
Sujin Park
It is. I don't know if I have razor blades coming out of my fists. But, Wolverine, the power that I have. I don't think I've ever shared this publicly, is that I have a propensity that if I start at a network, shortly thereafter that network disappears, ashes into the ground. I'm not talking about oh, show. I'm talking about entire ecosystems. I'm talking about entire biz dev sales, production facilities.
Beth
So we can layer all of MTV at your feet? Is that what you're saying?
Sujin Park
I'm not saying it's at my feet. I'm just saying that just my mere presence turns things into ash.
Beth
I'd love to embed you in Fox.
Sujin Park
I know. I'd love to just sneak in. I was saying I didn't even get.
Beth
You in the building.
Sujin Park
Get me in the building. Guess what the news will be. What happened to Fox?
Beth
Wow.
Sujin Park
What happened to Fox? I don't want this. Power I'm not invoking just is.
Beth
With great power comes great responsibility.
Sujin Park
Correct. Which is why I retreat into this podcast. And this is where I am just safely in my little genie bottle. And you get to rub on me every week and see what's in there.
Beth
I'm going to clip that and send that to Jason Manzoukas and see what his reaction is.
Sujin Park
Ew. That's his reaction. It's just ew.
Beth
Such and poc. We teased it up top. You've got. I mean, got something to reveal about your life.
Sujin Park
Yeah. I don't know. Again, this is one of those things. I have no idea. If this will elicit a reaction from you. I can only just tell you what I discovered this morning. And I'm gonna text you a photo.
Beth
Oh, boy.
Sujin Park
And I'll post that up on our Instagram at to cart pod so you guys can see the photo. So I'm just gonna wait till you get that.
Beth
Okay.
Sujin Park
And I just want you to take a. Take a guess at, like, what could that possibly be a picture of?
Beth
Okay, I got it. I got it. I got it. Okay. What am I. What? Okay, so what I'm looking at.
Sujin Park
Oh, my God.
Beth
Okay, what I'm looking at is a bed. I am seeing a tear in the beds bed sheet. And it's just. It's a. It's a tear. Like it's a gash. I'm seeing a lot of mattress.
Sujin Park
Yeah. So I went to go change the sheets this morning. It's laundry day for me. And I was like, holy, what the hell is that? What happened there? And I thought, did the dog. I mean, because the dog's not allowed in the bedrooms. And I was just like, what could this be? And I was under the. The. The blanket and it is on Mike's side. But I was like, I can't believe he didn't notice this. This is so strange. And so I went and I showed him this. I said, there's a giant hole. Like a rabid wolverine tore the. The fitted sheet. Did you notice that? He's like, oh, yeah, that's from my foot. His heel is so. Is he dry and cracked his heel that it's ripped.
Beth
His and his. Okay, okay. Huh. So Mike. Okay. I just also, I follow Mike Bender as everyone should follow Mike Bender on social media. And two weeks ago, he posted a photo of him doing morning school squats and him splitting his pants. And so this is some weird sort of Wolfman thing he's going through. What. What sort of transformation and evolution?
Sujin Park
I was like, this is.
Beth
Are you witnessing?
Sujin Park
I was like, what are you talking. He's like, yeah, my heels are so dry. He's like, I. I. Sometimes my sock gets stuck in it and I can't, like, even take it off. It. It, like, I have to really, like, wrestle it off because it gets caught on the heels. And I was just thinking. I was like, how long has this been going on that it's to this point? Anyway, so we had a long conversation about it because I was like you. I was talk about journalism. Do you want to know why I have to say no to ABC News? Is because I've already done my journalism. More journalism than I need to do this morning. Okay. I was like, who? What? When? Where? How?
Beth
Yeah, who? What? When?
Kulap Vilay
Where?
Sujin Park
Yeah, get to the bottom of this. What do you mean? Show me your foot. Why? How long? What other things are causing problems because of this? What? I mean, I see the man. I don't really touch him very often, but he doesn't look dry. It's not like he's like flaky skin. And I'm like, eh. He's not a dry person. I would say he's quite. He's quite moist, you know?
Beth
Is he. Does he not? Is he. Where? Oh, I'm sorry. I'm just. There's a lot of things that I'm trying.
Sujin Park
And he doesn't go barefoot anywhere. I know that. No, he has a sock on. We're sock families, you know, So I. I'm like, I don't understand how some. We don't live in. We don't live in Alaska, in the tundra. We're in Santa Barbara.
Kulap Vilay
It's.
Sujin Park
It's very balmy here most days. Anywho, so I. I did my investigative journalism and I. We talked through a plan, and so I ordered on Amazon, you know, one of those, like, cheese graters that you'd have on your foot.
Beth
Yeah, I have one.
Sujin Park
Yeah. And then also, like a buffer for, you know, once you get that off. And then I ordered a silicone heel cover because obviously he needs to get that off, put on the moisturizer that I'm gonna give him, and then put on the heel cover, and then put his sock on until this situation is rectified.
Beth
Does he sleep with socks? No, because I know you do.
Sujin Park
He doesn't sleep with socks. He's a Normal person. And that's why his dry ass foot has been rubbing on that sheet.
Beth
But to cause such friction tore. Guys, when I look at this. Sue. Sue, tell me that. To me, that looks. Because I'm just. You know, how many inches is that? That looks like over a foot.
Sujin Park
That's over a foot.
Beth
Okay. Okay. And perhaps there's been buildup. Perhaps this has been happening over time on that.
Sujin Park
Yeah. To be fair, she does our bedrooms like bedding, and then I do the kids. Right. Because he likes it a very vision of labor way. No, it's not division of labor. Sorry. Please. He likes it a very certain way. He likes it dried a certain way, washed a certain way. And far be it from me to volunteer to do more laundry in this house. And so I don't know if he noticed it, if he didn't notice it, because this. This isn't day one.
Beth
This has started so weird to be so particular and to allow. To let this. You know what I mean? It just. It's always interesting to hear people's blind spots.
Kulap Vilay
Correct.
Sujin Park
And let me tell you, I'm not going on that side of the bed. I have no idea what's happening there. So don't come for me, that is. I don't have a passport for that country. Immigration will help me at customs. I have no desire to purchase a ticket to that side of the bed. In fact, I'm often, as you know, not in that bed. I'm in my son's second bunk because I have sleep problems. So don't. Please don't comment at me. You can find him at Iamikebender. You can ask.
Beth
No, no, no, no. You. We. You were. You were a journalist. You were the voice of cribs. We trust. What? You. We. No one is here listening, thinks that you are involved, but I did.
Sujin Park
I did my work, guys. Let me tell you, when I found out this is what it was, I. I did. I did stick the mic in his face. And I said, where are you going, sir?
Beth
You held his heels to the fire.
Kulap Vilay
I said.
Sujin Park
I held his heels metaphorically and literally to the fire. And I said, what the are you talking about? Let's break this down. And then I immediately added to cart. So tbd. Game changer. Or not. As some of you know, the complication is this is a routine for getting any heel to feel like a baby's foot. It's not rocket science. You use a physical exfoliator. Then you use a chemical exfoliator. Okay? Then you put moisturizer on. That's it. I don't. For every other person on the planet, that'll work 100% of the time. Mike Bender cannot use certain moisturizers, cannot use a chemical exfoliant. So I'm going to have to work within the confines of what he can do. And so this is my experiment. Once I get it down and we see that his foot is healed, I will report back whether my game changer routine for his heels worked.
Beth
Wow. You're peak auntie in this episode. Peak auntie.
Sujin Park
I don't know. Maybe the secret is from hair level brain fog.
Beth
There's been some sharp takes. Knives, really? And heel graders are absolutely.
Sujin Park
A movie called I can't Come coming to a theater near you. I don't think that's a very controversial take. I think that's pretty universal. Okay, on that note, I think we wrap up.
Beth
That's our show, everybody. That's our show. Sue's taking a sip of something that's obviously watered down. You know, it's our first self produced one. Hopefully you won't feel the difference, but if you do, then you know why. Bye.

Podcast Summary: Add to Cart with Kulap Vilaysack & SuChin Pak – Episode: "Time is a Domme"
Release Date: March 18, 2025
The episode kicks off with hosts Kulap Vilaysack and SuChin Pak discussing their unique approach to marking the passage of time. Unlike the traditional New Year reset in January, SuChin proposes March as a more meaningful time to "reset," especially after experiencing what she describes as losses in the preceding months.
Sujin Park [02:06]: "What that means to me is January is a loss. Every. That we can agree on."
Kulap agrees with the sentiment, setting the stage for a conversation about time and its influence on their lives.
The central theme revolves around the concept of time as an uncontrollable force that dominates our lives. SuChin elaborates on feeling powerless against time's relentless march, comparing it to an oppressive figure.
Beth [03:02]: "Time be fucking with me."
Sujin Park [03:40]: "She's the ultimate Judge Judy. Yes. The ultimate Dom. Whips and chains. That truly is."
The hosts delve into the existential struggle of managing time, acknowledging its role in shaping their daily experiences and emotions.
Transitioning to practical life hacks, SuChin introduces a personal game changer for her persistent struggle with hairstyling. Frustrated by numerous failed attempts with various curling irons, she highlights the Tymo Tymo, a cordless, user-friendly curling iron designed to simplify the styling process.
Sujin Park [15:56]: "There's a curling iron that curls your hair for you, meaning that you don't have to move."
Kulap and Beth engage in a lighthearted discussion about the device's features, such as its rotating barrel and protective cover, emphasizing its suitability for individuals with weak wrists or those non-adept at hair styling.
Beth [16:24]: "No wire."
The Tymo Tymo becomes a focal point for discussing how technological innovations can serve as personal empowerment tools, transforming mundane tasks into manageable routines.
Shifting gears to activism, SuChin presents the Five Calls app, a tool designed to streamline political engagement for those who feel overwhelmed by traditional activism methods. She explains how the app simplifies the process of contacting representatives on various issues, making it accessible for introverts, busy individuals, or anyone seeking a straightforward way to contribute.
Sujin Park [37:25]: "It's the Five Calls app. And this is perfect activism for introverts. This is perfect activism for people who are busy."
The hosts discuss the app's effectiveness, noting that phone calls have a significant impact on legislative priorities when executed en masse. SuChin shares her strategy of leaving voicemails to mitigate anxiety associated with live conversations, advocating for this method as a "cheat code" for effective activism.
Sujin Park [42:09]: "It's a phone call. It doesn't even feel like I'm doing anything."
This segment underscores the importance of accessible activism tools in empowering individuals to participate in political processes without feeling overwhelmed.
Injecting humor and personal storytelling, SuChin recounts discovering a large tear in her bedsheet, initially attributing it to a hypothetical scenario reminiscent of a movie plot.
Sujin Park [47:38]: "I went to go change the sheets this morning. It's laundry day for me. And I was like, holy, what the hell is that?"
Upon investigating, SuChin identifies her husband Mike's dry and cracked feet as the culprits behind the damage, leading to a humorous exchange about household responsibilities and blind spots.
Beth [52:26]: "To me, that looks. Because I'm just... how many inches is that? That looks like over a foot."
Sujin Park [53:10]: "I did an investigative journalism."
This lighthearted segment highlights the relatable challenges of domestic life, blending SuChin's journalistic instincts with everyday family dynamics.
The hosts segue into discussing their parenting styles and an upcoming family trip to Wrightwood's Mountain High Resort for snow play with their daughter, Emmy. SuChin contrasts their family's preference for non-ski activities with Beth's apres-ski enthusiasm, emphasizing the importance of flexibility and planning in parenting.
Beth [25:14]: "We're going to the Yeti snow play. So that's just their area where you can, you can sled, you can tube, you can just play in the snow which is."
Sujin admires Beth's methodical approach to parenting, particularly her strategy for preparing Emmy for outings, thereby fostering adaptability and resilience in their child.
Sujin Park [29:11]: "I'm amazed that you are approaching it so methodically."
The conversation underscores the diverse approaches to parenting and the significance of tailored strategies in nurturing a child's development.
As the episode draws to a close, SuChin teases a personal revelation involving a mysterious photo of a torn bedsheet, adding an element of intrigue and anticipation for future episodes.
Sujin Park [47:14]: "I discovered this morning. And I'm gonna text you a photo."
Kulap and Beth engage in playful banter, reflecting the podcast's blend of humor, personal anecdotes, and insightful discussions.
The hosts wrap up by highlighting the importance of actionable journalism and personal empowerment, encouraging listeners to implement the discussed game changers in their own lives.
"Time is a Domme" offers a compelling blend of personal storytelling, practical life hacks, and thoughtful discussions on managing time and personal agency. Kulap Vilaysack and SuChin Pak engage listeners with their candid conversations, providing both entertainment and valuable insights.
