Is Gracelyn Keller with the Beckers Healthcare Podcast and we're recording live at the 31st annual Business and Operations of ASCS. I'm currently joined by Nyleen Flores who is the owner of medelevate Solutions. Nyleen, thanks for being here. Let's kick off by sharing having you share a little bit more about yourself and your work in the ASC space.
C
Yeah, so like you said, I'm Nyleen, owner of medelevate Solutions. It is a consulting firm where we go into different healthcare facilities and we streamline processes and basically help you streamline all your workflows and then pass it on to you to keep on working efficiently. Currently, I'm working with several ASCs across the United States to help them implement processes for credentialing, billing and peer review.
B
Wonderful. Well, thanks for taking the time to be here and let's start our conversation with the ASC market in the US it's projected to reach 60.8 billion by the year 2030 and continues to experience strong year over year growth. From your perspective, what are the most significant trends in market forces driving this expansion and how should ASC leaders be preparing today?
C
Well, there's a lot happening in the ASC space. I think that insurance companies are starting to push the ASC space. Believe it or not, in the state where I am currently, we've even had some prior authorization state why are you not doing this in a surgery center? So it's interesting how once the payers get onto this trend and begin to start moving cases forcibly to the surgery center. In other words, maybe they're not even going to approve a case that could be done at a surgery center to be done at a hospital, I think that is going to help increase the expansion and help ASC leaders grow their business in any market.
B
And from AI and robotic surgeries to advanced EHR systems, technology remains both a make or break factor and also a critical driver of ASC operations at scale. So how do you see deeper Tech integration, shaping the way ASCs deliver care and manage their business over the next few years.
C
So that is very important. But I think that what we need to work on is trying to get an all in one solution. So how can EHR systems fill the gaps that having 2, 3, 4, 5 different electronic systems can fill? So expanding services so that people have one login, one place that they can do all the things that we need to do at a surgery center, I think is going to lead that quote unquote tech integration throughout the ASC space.
B
And following up with that. Is there one technology or innovation in specific that stands out to you as especially transformative?
C
Well, like you said, AI, right? So the use of AI to streamline any process is going to be great. There's softwares out there that are currently using scanning a document and then taking that document and digitally inputting the data to avoid manual data entry, which streamlines and saves time overall for administrative tasks throughout the surgery center. So using those types of technology and of course AI, which is what everybody's talking about, to maximize and streamline and save time.
B
And with 60% of health systems considering ASC joint ventures and many ASCs already partnering with systems in their communities, what opportunities do you see for collaboration, whether with other providers or vendors, to strengthen patient care and operational efficiency?
C
Well, I advise to try and do that and partner with your vendors on your own instead of joint ventures. But joint ventures can sometimes cause some some contention and can limit a physician ability to work independently. And however that can be helpful if you do partner and actually follow through on getting and saving money where you need to save money. However, I would always try to do any kind of partnering, maximize any contract that you have, whether that's a particular vendor or an insurance company or anything that you want to do within your any like local healthcare facility group that you can partner with to anything to increase that that revenue or bottom dollar while saving money as well.
B
And Nyleen, is there anything we didn't touch on or any final thoughts you'd like to share as we wrap up our conversation?
C
Nothing. I would just say that ASC transformation is ongoing and we should all be excited for the future of healthcare.
B
Wonderful. Well, thank you so much for joining me today. Again we are recording live at the 31st annual business and operations of ASCS.
C
Thank you.
