Hello and welcome to the Becker's Healthcare Podcast. My name is Chanel Bunger and today I am recording live at the 22nd annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management driven ASC plus the future of Spine Conference. And sitting down with Sarah Carson, administrator at Ascentus asc. Mariam. Sarah, thank you so much for joining me today. Now, could you get us started out by introducing yourself and telling us a little bit about your background and organization?
B
Hi. I have been administrator at Ascendest for a little over three years. Say we've had huge amount of growth in the last. In just in that time frame. Our surgery center open during COVID and in the three and a half years I've been there, we've went from approximately 200 cases a month to 450 to 500. So it's been a huge amount of growth. Our primary service is ear, nose, throat and second to that would be plastics. But we do have multi specialty. So, yeah, we're continuously growing.
A
Perfect. And now to get into the meat of the podcast a bit, can you talk about maybe three trends that you're watching in healthcare and ASCs today?
B
Um, I think looking at where things are headed mostly with spine and maybe some cardiology services are things we're watching closely to see how we need to adapt to that.
A
Got it, got it. And going into the second half of 2025, what are you most focused on and excited about?
B
We're actually focused on. We do a lot of pediatrics. We are very heavy in pediatrics. I'd say we're probably second to the children's hospital in our area, so see a lot of those patients. So I think what I'm excited about is we've kind of maximized our growth at our current surgery center. So looking at maybe a second location and then being able to focus pediatrics at one of those locations and then seeing how we can grow, whether it's in the orthopedic a spine pain space in another location.
A
Got it, got it. And in that same vein, how are you thinking about growth in the next or upcoming year?
B
We've definitely have grown a lot. I would say pain has grown, has been our biggest growth that we've had recently and I think continuing to progress in that.
A
Perfect. Well, Sarah, I want to thank you for your time today, but before I let you go, is there anything else that listeners should know?
B
I don't think so. I think, yeah, excited to see just knowing that ASC space is always growing for everyone, kind of how we can utilize that and make the best of it.
A
Got it. Well, Sarah, I want to thank you once again for your time today and for sharing your insights on the Beckers healthcare podcast.
B
Thank you.
