Scott Becker
This is Scott Becker with the Becker's Healthcare podcast. Today we're going to discuss eight stories that we're following at Becker's Healthcare. Before I get started, I'll do quick, two quick shout outs. The first shout out goes to Chris Kiram. Chris has been a CEO and a leader in the healthcare world for nearly 40 years. He's been with Chris's Health for a great deal of that period of time. Chris is retiring now. One of the most remarkable and genuine and best people and leaders that there are. The world needs more Chris Kums. So that's one shout out to us, Kam. Also, we have a fantastic live webinar coming up on August 13th at 12 Central. This is called Founders, Leaders and Investors, Business Growth, AI and more. This will feature Manav Sivak, founder of Memora Health Venkit Mulkurla, investor and founder of Midstream. Dr. Andrew Gostein, MD, MBA, CEO, founder of Artesite and finally, Dr. Stephen Klaskow, executive in residence at General Catalyst. So those are two quick shout outs for the webinar and for CEO Chris Caram, who's retiring. So then, here's eight stories that we're following at Packers Healthcare. First, Tower Health, which has been through a world of earth the last few years in Pennsylvania, is conducting layoffs. The System has about 10,000 employees in total. Another system conducting layouts. Second, one big beautiful bill. Fallout Health System CEOs brace for change. This is an article on what health system CEOs are seeing in this third measles outbreak hits 33 year high. This is page 20 reporting on that. This is a disaster, of course, and a crazy part of what is the anti vax movement. And again, so many interesting things here. But again, this is just a horrible thing. Fourth, 16 maternity service closures so far, 2025 and more on the way. Again, great concern. Fifth, health insurers stumble. Five things to know we reported this morning on Centene. Centene is one of the biggest Medicaid managed care insurers and it's down 50% year to date. Sixth, a story by Kelly Gooch. Every year we pay more. That's a quote from the mainline health CEO on the push to cut cost even though inflation runs rampant. Seventh, another story that covers the GOP budget bill. President Trump signs it into law. Nine things to know. That's by Madeleine Ashley and Jacob Emerson. Eighth, the leadership norms that CEOs are breaking. Changes in leadership, changes in thinking. Again, a great story by Kristin Kuchno. Finally, a couple PS's. We've got our 10th annual Health IT Plus Digital Health Plus RCM annual meeting set for September 30th to October 3rd. 540 speakers, celebrity keynotes Simone Biles, Troy Aikman, Alex Rodriguez. Finally, the 13th annual CEO Plus CFO Roundtable. 300 speakers, celebrity keynotes Caitlin Clark, Patrick Ewing, Wayne Gretzky and Jack Nicklaus. What a great lineup. Thank you for listening. The Beckers Healthcare Podcast. Thank you very, very.
