This is Scott Becker with the Becker Healthcare Podcast. These are eight stories that we're following this week that help to shed some light on what's going on in the healthcare world. First, the Metro Health system in Cleveland is going to cause six outpatient facilities. Metro Health Facilities health system has been through a lot of trouble in the last few years, but it's a really important health system because it's the biggest safety net health system in Cleveland. So God bless it, they're going to close six facilities. Second, Inside Health, a health system in Pennsylvania is looking to reopen two hospitals that were previously closed. So that's good news if they could do that and make that happen. Third, Jefferson Health, one of the great systems in the country, posted 196 million operating loss for 2025. Those are big numbers. Not as big as some of the numbers we're seeing a couple of years ago for losses, but still quite concerning for all practical purposes. Fourth, there's a story in Baker's Healthcare about how health systems are looking to Pharmacy in 2026. This has become a more and more important part of many health systems bottom line. So we're watching that. Fifth, a fascinating partnership in the Chicago area between Endeavor Health and Northwestern Medicine to partner on a new AI lung cancer detection tool. Just fantastic. And I've got a typo in my write up of this. Finally. Sixth, Tower Health, the Pennsylvania based system that had been in and out of trouble returns to profitability. Just a really positive thing. Seventh, one of our reporters reports, Madeline Ashley reports on 20 hospital closures so far in 2025. Never good news when we see hospital closures. Finally. Eighth, California Critical Access hospitals are closed. That's again for Madeline Ashley follows that. Again a sign of the times. Metro Health closing, smile patient facilities, 20 hospital closures. Another California critical access hospital closing. Lots of challenges out there for hospitals and health. Thank you for listening to the Packers Healthcare podcast. Thank you very much.
