A lot of people assume that when you start a business, you need to be all in.You need a full workday.A quiet house.Reliable childcare.A clear schedule. But that's just not realistic for most. This week on the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I'm joined by Sam Hirschel. Sam is the mom of a three-year-old and has built a thriving sleep consulting business while navigating school drop offs and pick ups, nap schedules, and all of the unpredictability that comes with raising a young child. One thing we discussed is how easy it is to convince yourself that you'll get started later. When the kids are older. When you have more time. When life settles down. The reality is that every season brings a new set of challenges. The goal isn't to wait for life to become easier. It's to figure out what is possible right now.In this conversation, we talk about setting boundaries with clients in order to protect family time, asking for help when you need it, and building a business in a way that actually works for your family. We also talk about something I know so many mothers can relate to: wanting something that belongs to you, while still being fully committed to your role as a parent.Whether you're thinking about becoming a sleep consultant or you're simply trying to balance work and motherhood, I think you'll see a little bit of yourself in Sam's story.Links:Website: https://gotobedsleepyhead.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gotobed.sleepyhead/If you’d like to learn more about becoming a Sleep Consultant, please join our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/becomeasleepconsultantCPSM website: https://thecpsm.com/Book a free discovery call to learn how you can become a Certified Sleep Consultant here: https://jaynehavens.as.me/CPSM-Inquiry

This week on the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I'm joined by Vanessa Simpson, founder of Bay & Beyond Sleepy Time Solutions. Vanessa openly shares what it's been like to build a successful business while navigating both ADHD and dyslexia, and the practical systems and mindset shifts that have helped her turn perceived obstacles into strengths. In this conversation, we talk about the routines, tools, and strategies she relies on to stay organized, why entrepreneurship can actually be a great fit for neurodivergent thinkers, and how she learned to stop focusing on what doesn't work and start building around what does. We also discuss the importance of trial and error, creating a business that fits your life instead of someone else's expectations, and why there is no single "right" way to attract clients or grow a successful sleep consulting practice. If you've ever wondered whether you have what it takes to build a business, I think you'll really appreciate Vanessa's perspective. This is a conversation about embracing your strengths, finding systems that work for you, and realizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to entrepreneurship.Links:Website: https://bbsleepytimesolutions.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sessa_bbsleepytimesolutions/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bbsleepytimesolutionsIf you’d like to learn more about becoming a Sleep Consultant, please join our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/becomeasleepconsultantCPSM website: https://thecpsm.com/Book a free discovery call to learn how you can become a Certified Sleep Consultant here: https://jaynehavens.as.me/CPSM-Inquiry

When Jenna Mazzillo started sharing parenting content online, she wasn't trying to build a business. She simply wanted to help parents.Fast forward a few years, and she's built an audience of more than half a million followers, launched a successful parenting course, and recently left her career in education to pursue her business full time.In this week's episode, we talk about parenting, boundaries, business building, content creation, and why serving people at the highest level is often the best marketing strategy there is. We discuss the mindset shift that helped Jenna become comfortable selling her course, why providing massive value for free has become a core part of her business philosophy, and why showing up consistently matters more than waiting until you feel ready. Whether you're a parent, sleep consultant, entrepreneur, or any combination of the three, this conversation is packed with practical advice and a refreshing reminder that the only way to succeed is to be humble enough to be new at something again. In this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I sat down with therapist and life coach, Anna Marcolin, for a conversation about what it actually looks like to grow as an entrepreneur. We talk about the mindset required for business ownership, the courage required to put yourself out there before you feel fully ready, and why taking action matters so much more than endlessly consuming information and waiting for confidence to arrive first. This conversation is such a great reminder that confidence is built through action, repetition, failure, resilience, and continuing to show up even when it feels hard. There's so much value packed into this conversation for anyone who's building a business, navigating self-doubt, or trying to figure out how to keep moving forward without waiting to feel perfectly ready first.Links:Website: https://www.annamarcolin.com/Podcast: https://www.annamarcolin.com/podcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/askannamarcolin/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@askannamarcolinIf you’d like to learn more about becoming a Sleep Consultant, please join our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/becomeasleepconsultantCPSM website: https://thecpsm.com/Book a free discovery call to learn how you can become a Certified Sleep Consultant here: https://jaynehavens.as.me/CPSM-Inquiry

What if the thing holding you back in business isn’t a lack of knowledge, but the fact that you keep waiting until you feel “ready”?In this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast, I’m talking with CPSM graduate Andrea Hurley about what happened when she stopped overthinking, started to trust herself, and she decided to take action.Andrea shares how she went from feeling burned out as a nanny to building a growing sleep consulting business in a way that actually fits her life. We talk about the mindset of an entrepreneur, how she gained her confidence, and what she credits with gaining momentum in her business. This conversation is such a refreshing reminder that there is no perfect formula for success, and that sometimes the biggest shift happens when you stop trying to do business “the right way” and start doing it your way.Links:Website: https://thenurturedparentco.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thenurturedparentcollectiveTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thenurturedparentcoIf you’d like to learn more about becoming a Sleep Consultant, please join our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/becomeasleepconsultantCPSM website: https://thecpsm.com/Book a free discovery call to learn how you can become a Certified Sleep Consultant here: https://jaynehavens.as.me/CPSM-Inquiry

We also get into the practical side of increasing visibility: how to build genuine referral relationships with pediatricians, therapists, and local professionals, how to show up consistently on social media without burning out, and why one real conversation can change the course of your business.Allison and I are teaming up for a 30-Day Visibility Challenge starting May 12th. Today's podcast is with a very special guest, my 9-year-old daughter Ivy. She decided completely on her own that she wanted to start a podcast… and then went ahead and figured out how to get it onto Spotify. She did this without my help. She did this without an online course. She did this without overthinking it.Ivy decided that she wanted to do it… and then she did.And as I listened to her walk me through the process, one thing became very clear:We tend to overcomplicate things as adults. In this conversation, we discussed what it actually looked like for her to figure it out, including the frustrating moments, the trial and error, and the moments where she almost gave up… but didn’t.And the takeaway is simple, but important:If a 9-year-old can navigate something new, uncomfortable, and a little bit hard… so can you. This episode is a reminder that you don’t need to have it all figured out before you start. You just need to be willing to try, stay in it when it feels frustrating, and use the resources available to you.Because more often than not, the only thing standing between you and the thing you want to do… is the decision to actually begin.Enjoy!Links: Ivy's Podcast on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3FSPsvCO2Cr1kYRvDQ5Ves?si=29df84e40b234502If you’d like to learn more about becoming a Sleep Consultant, please join our Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/becomeasleepconsultantCPSM website: https://thecpsm.com/Book a free discovery call to learn how you can become a Certified Sleep Consultant here: https://jaynehavens.as.me/CPSM-Inquiry
