Hey Carpool Crew, A whole new year is almost here, and that can feel huge to a kid. Be better, try harder, do everything right. It's too much to aim at all at once, and most of it slips away by the second week. Today on Carpooling with Jesus, Pastor Justin opens Philippians 3:14, where Paul aimed at one goal and kept pressing toward it. Your kid doesn't have to fix everything this year. They just need one good word to aim at, picked with God, like brave, kind, honest, or steady. One word is something a kid can remember on the hardest day. This Wednesday episode hands kids three things to try this week: ask God for one word and write it where you'll see it, whisper a quick prayer each morning to aim at it, and ask the heart question, am I trying to fix everything at once, or will I trust God with one good word at a time? About 5 minutes, kid-friendly, with a discussion question to land on together. Today's One Thing: Pick one word with God to aim at all year long. Hey Carpool Crew, Most kids know Daniel because of the lions. But long before the lions' den, Daniel was a teenager who got taken from his home. Today on Carpooling with Heroes of the Bible, Pastor Justin starts a brand-new five-episode journey with Daniel by going back to the very beginning, when King Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem and marched Daniel and his three friends hundreds of miles to Babylon. Babylon tried to erase everything about them, even giving them new names to push God out. But Daniel learned the truth that held him steady for the rest of his life: God had not stayed back in Jerusalem. God went to Babylon too. Daniel had been taken from his home, but he had not been taken from his God. This episode is for every kid who has ever felt dropped somewhere new and scary, a new school, a new house, a back-and-forth between two homes, a new team where they knew no one. About 10 minutes, kid-friendly, with a real-life takeaway parents can talk through on the drive. Today's One Thing: You can be dropped somewhere new and scary and still belong to God. He goes where you go. Hey Carpool Crew, There's something about a brand-new empty backpack. It's not full of anything yet. It's just sitting there, full of a whole year that hasn't happened. Today on Carpooling with Jesus, Pastor Justin opens Psalm 32:8, where God promises to instruct us, show us the way, and keep His eye on us. Before a single day of the year happens, God is already promising to lead a kid through it. That empty backpack is a perfect picture of a year your kid can hand straight to God before it even starts. This Tuesday episode hands kids three things to try this week: pray out loud over the empty backpack, whisper a quick prayer when the new year feels scary, and ask the heart question, do I think I have to carry this whole year alone, or will I let God lead it? About 5 minutes, kid-friendly, with a discussion question to land on together. Today's One Thing: Hand God your empty backpack and ask Him to lead the new year. Hey Carpool Crew, Summer's almost done, and a new year is right around the corner. Here's something most kids never realize: they get a say in what kind of friend they're going to be this year. It's not just something that happens to them. It's something they can decide. Today on Carpooling with Jesus, Pastor Justin opens Proverbs 27:17, where iron sharpens iron. The right kind of friend doesn't just hang around, they make each other better. Your kid isn't just looking for good friends this year. They get to be one, the kid who walks over to the one who's left out and says, come sit with us. This Monday episode hands kids three things to try this week: decide out loud one kind of friend you want to be, whisper a quick prayer to see who needs a friend, and ask the heart question, am I just looking for good friends, or am I willing to be one? About 5 minutes, kid-friendly, with a discussion question to land on together. Today's One Thing: You get to choose what kind of friend you'll be this school year. Hey Carpool Crew, Getting passed over stings way more than it should. A kid stands there acting like it's fine, but inside it hurts. Today on Carpooling with Jesus, Pastor Justin opens Psalm 34:18, where the Lord is near the brokenhearted. When a kid's heart cracks, God doesn't back away. He leans in closer, which is the exact opposite of how it feels. Not getting picked by people does not mean a kid isn't wanted by God. People can overlook them. God never does. This Friday episode hands kids three things to try this week: tell God exactly how the hurt feels instead of stuffing it, whisper a quick prayer that God is near, and ask the heart question, do I let one not-picked moment tell me I'm worth less, or do I let God tell me the truth? About 5 minutes, kid-friendly, with a discussion question to land on together. Today's One Thing: God is closest to you when your feelings are hurt. Hey Carpool Crew, Summer makes friendships go quiet. People travel, they're at camp, families get busy, and the friend a kid saw every day is suddenly gone for a while. That quiet can feel scary, like something's wrong. Today on Carpooling with Jesus, Pastor Justin opens Proverbs 17:17, where a friend loves at all times, which includes the quiet ones. Quiet is not the same as over. A friendship can go silent for a season and still be alive underneath. The real question isn't whether a friend went quiet. It's what kind of friend your kid will be while it's quiet. This Saturday episode hands kids three things to try this week: send one kind message with no pressure, whisper a quick prayer to be a steady friend, and ask the heart question, do I drop people the second things get quiet, or do I love at all times? About 5 minutes, kid-friendly, with a discussion question to land on together. Today's One Thing: A real friend keeps loving even through the quiet stretches. Hey Carpool Crew, Summer does something funny. When nobody's handing kids a list, it's easy for them to forget who they are and just float through the day. Today on Carpooling with Jesus, Pastor Justin opens Ephesians 2:10, where we are God's workmanship, made on purpose for good works God planned ahead of time. A kid's worth doesn't switch on when a grown-up hands them an assignment. It was baked in all along. The empty day isn't a test of whether they matter. It's a blank page where the real them gets to show up. This Wednesday episode hands kids three things to try this week: do one good thing on an empty day without being told, whisper a quick prayer of thanks for being made on purpose, and ask the heart question, do I only feel like somebody when someone's telling me what to do? About 5 minutes, kid-friendly, with a discussion question to land on together. Today's One Thing: You are God's handiwork, even when no one is telling you what to do. Hey Carpool Crew, Some days a grumpy mood rolls in like a cloud and parks right over a kid's head, no real reason needed. Today on Carpooling with Jesus, Pastor Justin opens 1 Thessalonians 5:18, where we give thanks in everything, not for everything. Grumpy makes the brain hunt for what's wrong. Thankful makes it hunt for what's right. They can't both run the show. So when a kid names three real thank-yous, the grumpy has to start scooting over. This Tuesday episode hands kids three things to try this week: name three real thank-yous when a grumpy mood parks over you, whisper a quick prayer to see what's good, and ask the heart question, am I letting one bad thing block out all the good things? About 5 minutes, kid-friendly, with a discussion question to land on together. Hey Carpool Crew, Somewhere in the middle of summer, kids hit the slump where every day feels the same and they're just bored. Today on Carpooling with Jesus, Pastor Justin opens Proverbs 25:2, where God loves to conceal a good thing and then call us to go investigate. Boredom isn't the end of the fun. It might be the invitation right before it. God tucks good things nearby, not to keep them from us, but because He loves the joy of us finding them. This Monday episode hands kids three things to try this week: go on a treasure hunt instead of waiting for fun to arrive, whisper a quick prayer to be shown something good, and ask the heart question, am I waiting to be entertained or willing to go looking? About 5 minutes, kid-friendly, with a discussion question to land on together. Today's One Thing: Boredom can be a treasure hunt for the good God hides in plain sight. Hey Carpool Crew, Anybody can be respectful when everything's easy. The real test is the hard moment. Today on Carpooling with Jesus, Pastor Justin opens Ephesians 6:1-2, where the Bible tells kids to honor their father and mother. Honor means treating someone like they matter, with your words and your tone and your attitude. And the moment it counts most is the inconvenient one, when you're tired and you'd rather grumble. This Friday episode hands kids three things to try this week: do what your parents ask without the sigh and the eye roll, whisper a quick prayer when the grumble comes, and ask the heart question, do I only honor my parents when it's easy? About 5 minutes, kid-friendly, with a discussion question to land on together.
