Have you ever written or received a letter that warns you about certain people who may cause you harm? That's what Paul did in Philippians. But more than that, he used it as a springboard to launch into what is the essence of a maturing relationship with the Living God and to find out that this was his intention for humankind all along. Nate's on vacation this week, so Sean filled in! What happens when Adam and Sean are left to their own devices? The Gospel is disruptive. It always has been and always will be. In fact, in Thessalonica, it's introduction to the city caused a riot. It's detractors accused Christians of turning the world upside down (Acts 17:6), not understanding that the Gospel frees us to see clearly and live peacefully in accordance to God's original intent. Maybe it's not that the Gospel makes things upsidedown, but that it corrects and turns it right-side up? But if one lives their life in a gargage heap, you normalize the stench and putrid food, and can't imagine what it's like to live in the peaceful countryside. By what right do Christians have to say we're living according to God's intent? By what authority can we say that's true? And by what empowerment can disciples strive to live that way? That's the focus of our talk today on Church for Normies! ▶️ Nate's Message on YouTube: https://tinyurl.com/ytp4e3df🍊 Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/4y3r8c9s🍎 Apple: https://tinyurl.com/m54hzd3r💚 Grace Community Church: https://www.roswellgrace.com/📰 Grace COMMUNITY Blog: https://tinyurl.com/mue5epjf📧 Send us questions or comments! apruitt@roswellgrace.com

What is the opposite of joy? Sadness? No, because "Christian" joy is not really an emotion like sadness. It is an objective settlement and peace that is concretely outside their control. It looks like happiness, but it's really not. Joy can be present with the Christian even when our circumstances are at its worst. Like death. Yet Paul declared that a Christian can say, "For or to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." (Phil 1:21). But even Christians can have an unbiblical, culturally influenced view of death that parasitically robs us of our God-promised joy. Have you heard of Spencer Silver and Art Fry? If you've used Post-it Notes (or some generic equivalent), you can thank them! In 1968, the 3M industrial chemists were working on "super strong aircraft adhesive" - and failed by only making a "low tack" adhesive. (Sigh!) Their "microsphere" adhesive left them perplexed. But Fry, a church-going man, wanted a bookmark for his hymnal that wouldn't keep falling out. He applied their adhesive and - lightbulb! - maybe there's a place for this low-tack adhesive? And the rest, as they say, is history! Post-it! notes earn 3M $2.5 billion (!) annuallly!Sometimes setbacks are the door way to hope. That was the topic of Nates message Sunday, the topic of today's podcast ... and maybe the topic of your current setback? "Joy," wrote GK Chesterton, "which was the small publicity of the pagan, is the gigantic secret of the Christian." How is that possible? Because the world equates happiness for joy. And because it will always be based on subjective, circumstantial experiences, happiness will always be dependent on how well things work for you. But Christian joy will always be a gift given from God to you in a never ending supply and completely untouchable from the world. Well, we had a snow/ice storm in Roswell, NM ... and it shut us down for a half a week! (which is why this is late!). But take heart! Adversity makes us stronger! Right? It reminds me of a contemporary adage: "The pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow. Or you could die from it. It's hard to know with these things sometimes." Just kidding! But in the spirit of WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN LIFE'S AMAZON DELIVERY SERVICE IS DELAYED OR SENDS YOU THE WRONG SIZE? You get all existential and philosophical ... like Adam, Nate, and Sean did! Have a laugh ... but then seriously learn to get prepared!▶️ Nate's Message on YouTube: https://tinyurl.com/ytp4e3df🔗 🍊 Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/4y3r8c9s🍎 Apple: https://tinyurl.com/m54hzd3r💚 Grace Community Church: https://www.roswellgrace.com/📰 Grace COMMUNITY Blog: https://tinyurl.com/mue5epjf📧 Send us questions or comments! apruitt@roswellgrace.com

The late Tim Keller wrote: “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didn't rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.” Keller believed in the hope Jesus brought to us, that when he died, his departing words were: “There is no downside for me leaving …” Easter changes everything. It's not an occasion to remember a dead religious figure, it is the triumphant climax of the crescendo of the "earthly" ministry of Jesus - one that still continues! In this fitting discussion of Mark's Gospel account of Jesus' resurrection, we see Jesus as Lord over death and the grave, and what that means for you and me! 🔔 LISTEN to the podcast NOW! https://www.roswellgrace.com/living-your-dash-podcast ▶️ WATCH today's message: https://youtu.be/RjTQiwUkGRY?si=T8YNnJJ_50QHKWzC&t=2810 🚀 LEARN more about our series: https://www.roswellgrace.com/turningpoints 🏠 DISCOVER more about Grace Community Church: https://www.roswellgrace.com/
