Jul 25, 202001:03:48Tap to summarizeThis week was hard. Most weeks, some tracks jump out as gems, others as easy to cut. Not so with NND. Everything is such a fine groove. And then there’s the length problem. A lot of these cuts are eight minutes plus - a few of our favs clocked in at over 10 minutes a piece - another challenge when you’re aiming for a representative sample of music in about an hour. We had the opposite problem with the Rocksteady Mix, where each song was barely two minutes each. All said, enjoy. This took a bit longer to put together, and we’ve had to split it in two (expect part two tomorrow) but it is a wonderful backdrop to a summer evening, dreaming of dancing.Track List:1. Clocking in at just over an hour, we’ve got some gems from Dick Dale, a great Beach Boys instrumental, some really moody cuts, and one lone track with vocals - The Trashmen’s King of the Surf - to be honest, it’s probably more on the side of hot rod rock than surf rock , but it just wouldn’t feel right to leave it out. There may even be a track or two from the 90s surf rock revival - can you tell?You may have ignored the surf rock posts this week because, well, they’re surf rock. But we’re gonna have to insist that you give this a solid listen, preferably at the beach or at the pool, or blaring from your speakers as you hang out the window of your woodie.
