Our two year-old and I sat down to play some piano only to find that the top of our Melissa & Doug "Learn-to-Play" Toy Piano wasn't working. Instead of the usual happy "ting-a-ling," it was more of a "clang- clank." This set us off on a three-hour instrument repair adventure! See inside the Melissa & Doug Toy Piano and learn how to fix this piano if the same thing happens to you. Remember, fixing things with your kids takes always takes extra time. Be patient, take breaks, and make sure they are safe. It's more about the journey and connecting with them as you repair. You may not even get your project completed. Have fun along the way!Special thanks to Brett's Hardware in Beacon, New York, for help finding the M6 bolt we were missing. And thank you to WMHT's Classical Companion radio station. It's a great station, and we were listening throughout our little father-son repair project. It's the 501st anniversary of the Reformation, and Robot Martin Luther is back to sing a special duet with Animatronic Shakespeare. Featuring Luther's top single A Mighty Fortress, Shakespeare's Sonnet 18, and beats by ComposerDad and the kids, this is an all-star collab. The setting: Stratford-upon-Avon in the United Kingdom, Shakespeare's Birthplace, where ComposerDad and family are living while ProfessorMom studies Shakespeare at the Shakespeare Institute. Subscribe on YouTube and signup for the mailing list here for more great stuff! WORDS: A Mighty Fortress Martin Luther A mighty fortress is our God, A trusty shield and weapon; He helps us free from ev'ry need That has us now o'ertaken. The old evil foe Now means deadly woe; Deep guile and great might Are his dread arms in fight; On earth is not his equal. Sonnet 18 William Shakespeare Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: “Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer’s lease hath all too short a date; Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimm'd; And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance or nature’s changing course untrimm'd; But thy eternal summer shall not fade, Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st; Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st: So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Hi ComposerDad Adventurers, We are still in the UK while ProfessorMom studies at the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon. We have been busy exploring Stratford, learning about Shakespeare (today we learned that his dad got busted for shady sheep wool business dealings!), and generally trying to keep it together. At the grocery shop, the boys spotted a rack of toys called SuperZings. We avoided it for a for awhile, as parents do to racks of toys in the grocery store, but…BOY WERE WE WRONG. SuperZings are amazing. We got a couple and were totally smitten. It inspired BuilderBoy and I to get two more and make our very first “unboxing video.” If you’ve never seen an unboxing video, it’s where you, well, unbox something…on a video. Watch as we discover which SuperZings we got!SuperZings Unboxing on ComposerDad YouTube. Maybe this moment will end up in season two of the ComposerDad vs. Bible podcast! Maybe we’ll take a DEEP DIVE into Shakespeare minutiae. It’s too early to tell, but I do know we are gathering lots of great experiences that will eventually turn into fun podcasts, songs, and videos for you. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these updates along the way. Your friendly Rival of Kaboom,ComposerDadSubscribe to the ComposerDad YouTube channel and sign up for the mailing list here.

ComposerDad and family here. We are in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, while ProfessorMom is studying Shakespeare at the Shakespeare Institute! After our first week, we wanted to give you a little “first look” on this amazing family-friendly town in the UK. Not only is Stratford-upon-Avon Shakespeare's Birthplace, but it is also full of family friendly places to discover. Some of the places we enjoyed in our first week include:The MAD Museum (Mechanical Art and Design Museum) Marbles tubes, mechanical moving art, nice automata sets for kids, activity packs. The Butterfly Farm: So many butterflies! Great activity books in gift shop!) Stratford also has a tremendous playground in their Recreation Grounds,And don't forget the Royal Shakespeare Company and all the wonderful Shakespeare-.elated sites! We especially love the New Place. Other tips: If you are traveling from far away like us (America), it might take some time to adjust after jet lag etc. Be sure to build in some down time. ProfessorMom managed to pack all our Duplos for the boys to take breaks from our adventures. Also, if you are here for awhile like us and want to connect with other parents, try signing up for some classes. In addition to the ballet class we mention in the video, we also have enjoyed some playgroups at area churches, and even a LEGO Animation Club. And of course, just enjoy walking around town. It's beautiful. River Avon runs right through it and the grounds in front of the Royal Shakespeare Company are especially great for romping. Oh, we hear the RSC has a fantastic playgroup for little ones, too. Enjoy!Subscribe to the ComposerDad YouTube channel and sign up for the mailing list at www.ComposerDad.com
