My father passed away because he wasn't getting his blood work frequently enough. He did all the right things. He worked out four or five days a week. He ate generally healthy, but the box that he left unchecked was he never went in to go look underneath the hood. He started experiencing this lower back pain and come to find out it was cancer.
Alex Clark
What is it about Jevity that is different than Function Health?
Nate Greenfield
We're sort of an end to end solution so it doesn't stop at the blood work. We're going to use this blood work to create a care plan for the individual geared towards longevity. Really walk through that, that process with the individual.
Alex Clark
After losing his father to cancer in 2021, despite being physically active, never took the proactive steps of getting regular lab tests. Nate Greenfield was inspired to create jevity, a platform that empowers individuals to take control of their health. Jevoty offers comprehensive, accessible health screening and optimization, helping people catch potential issues early and manage their well being with personalized insights with blood testing and health coaching right from your own home. His mission is to bridge the gap left by a reactive healthcare system and give everyone tools to proactively own their health journey. The show is made possible with generous tax deductible donations from listeners like you who believe in our mission to heal a sick culture physically, mentally and spiritually. Please welcome Jevy founder Nate Granville on Culture Apothecary to explain what biomarker testing is and why the blood work that you've been getting at the hospital once every few years is not cutting it. I didn't even know this, but you and I both go to Shepherd's House. Costy Hin Church in Phoenix.
Nate Greenfield
That's right. Yep.
Alex Clark
I don't know how this didn't even come up in our first meeting. That's so crazy.
Nate Greenfield
You know, after we had met the first time, I had posted about it somewhere and somebody was like, oh yeah, Alex, she goes to church with us and I had no idea. It's. It's so funny.
Alex Clark
How long have you been going?
Nate Greenfield
My wife and I, we. We switched over to Shepherd's house about a year ago.
Alex Clark
Okay, so same as me. Have you gotten Costi roped into all this Jevy stuff or what?
Nate Greenfield
Kosti should be signing up here soon. He's a big fan. Kosti and I, we're, we're close friends. He leads up our men's retreat that we do every year in September. So he comes out and he, you know, he preaches to about 25, you know, young men who are early into their marriages or early into fatherhood and, you know, speaks life to us. And this past September, it was pretty much one large jeopardy promotion. And he lives a life. He's, you know, he's very much on top of his health.
Alex Clark
Oh, Costi, is, Is Mahad out? Yes, he is. He's like, all in on the seed oils and stuff. I, I just interviewed this, like, Christian fitness trainer and he was talking about that how, like, the American church is really on the hook for how unhealthy America is. Think of how many things revolve around food within the church and how we're just really letting people down, like what we're serving and all those things. And I said, well, I think I have an anomaly. I said, my pastor is all in on raw milk and no seed oils. And I was like, you know, my small groups are like, gluten free. Like, it's really incredible. I have like a unicorn church, I think. So. That's funny that you and I there.
Nate Greenfield
For sure, for sure. And to touch on that just briefly. It's unfortunate because, and you see this in other industries too, but pastors, they're, they're so adamant and it's important that they put their congregation a lot of times before themselves and their health is usually the expense of that. But Kassi definitely makes a point to prioritize his health and in turn, I mean, you can tell when he's on stage and he's, he's talking to his congregation. He is energized. He's completely there cognitively, physically. And unfortunately, you don't see, you don't see enough of that in the church. And that's one of the things that we, you know, we're working on doing at Jevity is serving pastors and first responders and people who make a living out of literally putting other people before themselves. So, yeah, I mean, you, you hit the nail on the head. He is, as you said, Maha'd out. I love that. I haven't heard that one yet.
Alex Clark
So you're really young. I mean, you're in your late twenties. Mid to late twenties. Yeah. You're in your mid twenties and your eyes have been opened on all of this stuff with pharma and Food and personal health and how we really can't rely on anybody else' especially the government, to tell us, like, what is or isn't healthy. Obviously, we've learned that the hard way as a country. So how in the world did you get your eyes open to all of this so young?
Nate Greenfield
I was primarily led here because of my father. So up until about 2021, my father was a quite an active individual. He did all the right things. He worked out four or five days a week. He ate generally healthy. He lived in Old Town Scottsdale. So him and his wife, my stepmother, they would go and frequently walk the canals together. He had a, you know, a moderate, moderate stress lifestyle. Nothing crazy. But the box that he left unchecked was he never went in to go look underneath the hood. He assumed, well, I feel healthy, therefore I am healthy. Well, early 2021, he started experiencing this lower back pain. And so he went to a masseuse to try to get it rubbed out, and that didn't work. So he went to a chiropractor, and that didn't work. So over the course of, like, six months, he was trying to figure out what was causing this back pain that was progressively getting worse. And it seemed like it was, you know, some sort of issue with his muscles, his lower back muscles. Well, eventually he went in to go get some blood work done, and he noticed some abnormalities on his cbc and that led him to go get a MRI and come to find out it was cancer. So it was cancer that had started in his lungs, had spread through his back, up his back to his brain. And, you know, he spent six months trying to find out what was causing this back pain before he decided to go in and look underneath the hood. And unfortunately, this is a pitfall that too many Americans fall into. They assume, okay, I feel fine. Well, therefore, I am fine. And additionally, Americans have sort of settled for what fine is, like, supposed to be. You're not supposed to just, like, have low energy. You're not supposed to feel, you know, lethargic by 5:00. These aren't normal things, but we've convinced ourselves that these are normal things. Everybody feels this way by the end of the day. So that led me to. To Jevity. He ended up passing away, unfortunately, September 8, 2021. So earlier that year, I had sold my tech company. What that allowed me to do was really be present with my father for that whole year. And I wasn't rushed into the next thing. I didn't have pressure to rush into the next thing. But after My father passed. He was 58 years old, too young to die.
Alex Clark
See, this is crazy to me because you and I both, unfortunately, are members of the dead dad club now.
Nate Greenfield
I'm sorry to hear that.
Alex Clark
Thank you. And my dad was 56. So much of your story resonates with me, and my audience knows my dad's story well now. And so that was, like, something that really struck me about Jevity, too, is, like, the mission and, like, what led you here is so similar to me. It's just wild. It's too young.
Nate Greenfield
It's not uncommon. It's like, the more I talk to people, this is. This is a common story. I'm telling other people's story as well, and it relates to a lot of people, and it's so unfortunate. I mean, 58, which. Far too young to die, especially from cancer, which we now know can be largely prevented. We know this science validates this. There's things that we can do in our life to lower the risk of cancer. Cancer spreading and ultimately dying from cancer. So the mission became, okay, how can I take my tech background and essentially prevent people from experiencing what it was that I experienced? So what I did is I started looking at sort of what diagnostic solutions were available on the market, starting with what my primary care physician would write up if I asked for a full panel. And come to find out it's not that much data. When they're looking at, for example, assessing your cardiovascular health, they're not even looking at things like apolipoprotein B, which we now know is extremely, extremely important to have in your. In your blood work. It's. By the way, my background is not in medicine, so I'm an avid consumer, and my background's in technology. I default to the experts on this. But they're the little proteins in your ldl. So essentially, your LDL has been considered, right, Your bad cholesterol. The proteins in your LDL are really what matter more than your ldl. That's your apolipoprotein B. So that. That biomarker certainly matters more than if you had some sort of, you know, abnormality in your LDL alone. We want to see, okay, what is your ipolipoprotein B look like? Not just what does your LDL look like? Your LDL could look off, but your hypolipoprotein B might be fine. And that's really what matters. So. And it's not common for your primary care physician to include that in. In their full panel assessment. So we started there with primary care physicians, saw that they weren't looking at too many health biomarkers. 20 or so is what they were looking at. There's companies out there who offer at home diagnostic solutions, but they were expensive and they weren't looking at that much. One of the silver linings of COVID was there was sort of a lifting of regulations on the state and federal level as it relates to telehealth. And so my journey began looking into diagnostic solutions, but then I started looking into what sort of end to end telehealth solutions were there out there on the market as well. What sort of companies online were pairing advanced diagnostics with end to end care. And we didn't find any. We didn't find any that were doing it well. And we certainly didn't find any that weren't simply taking this brick and mortar style approach to healthcare and just bringing it online, not leveraging any of the really cool things that being online allows you to do, like build really cool software to automate things or build AI and machine learning to, you know, promote better patient outcomes, which is what we do at Jevity. So yeah, my journey began with my father. I started talking with some of the world's best in longevity and trying to take the wisdom from these people and package it into a product that is seamless and easy to use and removes a lot of the anxiety that surrounds your health and make a solution that's completely data driven, no guesswork. The way we do supplementation is different. The way we do, you know, various prescription therapeutics is different. Your blood work paints the picture. It's a blueprint to your health. And we need to look at a lot of blood work data to make really, really good decisions, such as what supplement should we be taking? It's not enough to go get a full panel done from your primary care physician. They're not looking at enough biomarkers. Jevoty, we're looking at 100 or so different biomarkers across various physiological systems. And with that we're able to paint the complete picture of one's health status and use that as sort of the roadmap to create a health optimization plan.
Alex Clark
If you're anything like me, you've probably been on the hunt for a good functional medicine doctor. Right. Like you know that you want to get to the root cause of all your health issues. You don't just want some quick fix with a prescription, you want to find the right doctor. Good luck with that. You're probably figuring this out. I mean, every time I search, I either get someone who's like a 45 minute drive away. Or even worse. They just don't vibe with what I'm looking for and forget getting an appointment anytime soon. The slots are booked out months in advance. That is where Jevy comes in and totally changes the game. They've got this virtual personal health concierge who's available to you anytime, anywhere. No more chasing down practitioners or waiting forever for an appointment. Jevy is a full service health partner that does the legwork for you. So here's how it works. They are a biomarker testing company with a full health team to work with you, figuring out not only your results, but also how you're doing for the next several months. They'll first send a phlebotomist to your door for a blood test. And then they connect you with a functional medicine expert who crafts a totally personalized health plan for you. They're using cutting edge tests to really understand your health. And then they deliver custom supplements or therapies or peptides straight to your door. Plus semi annual checkups to refine your plan. The best part? You don't have to leave your couch or drive to an office. It's all virtual, all about you, all on your schedule. Do you agree that the American healthcare system is set up to be more reactive than proactive?
Nate Greenfield
Oh my goodness, yeah. I mean it's totally reactive. It's, and you know, it's, it starts at the top. I mean if you look at the boards of these big pharma companies and who's sitting on the fda, it's all the same. They're, it should be illegal, but there's nobody to call them out on this.
Alex Clark
Until now.
Nate Greenfield
Until now. Yes, thank God for that. The whole system is reactive. It's, it's far more profitable to be reactive. It's way more profitable for people to be sick because then they can prescribe drugs and keep people in this constant sort of cycle that's very, very hard to escape. It's far harder to make money by promoting a healthy lifestyle. But that's ultimately what we're doing. And we have people like RFK Jr. Who have been very much outspoken, people like yourself who have been very much outspoken about proactive and preventative health and sort of getting out of this traditional western medicine system that we've been living in for decades.
Alex Clark
What is jevity? Because you do so many different things.
Nate Greenfield
Jevity, simply put, is a health optimization membership, if you will. So I'll walk you through the process. It's quite simple. You go on our website and you sign up and the first thing you do is schedule your at home blood draw. We're going to send a phlebotomist out to your house to draw your Blood. And in that blood draw again, we're looking at a hundred or so biomarkers across various physiological systems.
Alex Clark
And let me tell you something, this person comes like a thief in the night. I open my door, this woman was, nice as can be, comes in, and then it was so fast. I mean, I seriously think she was in and out within five minutes. And I was like, that's it. It was so quick. And she's like, oh, yep, that's all that. That's all it is.
Nate Greenfield
That's great.
Alex Clark
It was amazing. I was like, wow. And you didn't have to wait in a waiting room or anything. It was just like the, the easiest, most convenient thing of my life.
Nate Greenfield
And that's the way it should be, right? Especially I try to design Jevity essentially, so my wife will use it. She's at home right now with a two and a half year old who's just crazy. He's sweet, but he's crazy. And we have a four week old and she doesn't have time to go to, you know, a functional medicine clinic and schedule an appointment and go get her blood work done and then go back for her review. And nobody has time for that. And it shouldn't be that way. And because of Jevoty, and there's some other companies out there that are good companies too, that do really good diagnostic solutions as well. But because of Jevity, people don't have to do that any longer. So it all starts with the blood work. And it's very simple. Like you said, in and out in 10 minutes or less. Those results come in in about a week. And we use that to create your health improvement plan. Essentially we call it your health optimization plan. And we're assessing all of those biomarkers to see exactly what we need to do to optimize your health. Well, traditionally with blood work, there's the reference ranges. And primary care physicians don't really care if they're sort of on the, the higher end or the lower end of that reference range. As long as it's within the reference range, it's fine. But within these reference ranges, there's actually an optimal range. That's not talked about enough, and it's certainly not talked about in primary care. And our goal is simple. Let's look at all of this blood work and let's look at each biomarker individually and do what we have to do to bring you back to optimal in each biomarker. And if you do that, your health is going to be optimized. And as a byproduct of that, you're going to live a longer, happier, healthier life. And so it starts with the blood work. From there, you're assigned a care team, and that's a wellness specialist, which is either a functional nutritionist or a health coach and a medical provider. That's your care team. And together they are going to assess all of this data. And we're going to start with supplementation. So supplementation is done poorly in the United States. Why?
Alex Clark
What do you mean?
Nate Greenfield
Supplementation is generally done this way. You're scrolling through Instagram and your favorite influencer shouts out a product that you should be taking. Then you buy it because somebody you trust online is telling you that you need this. But it's total guesswork. A lot of the times, quite literally, people are peeing it down the toilet because their body just doesn't need it.
Alex Clark
I get asked that all the time. My audience is like, please, please share what supplements you're taking. I'm like, dude, I could screw you up, because what is wrong with me may not be wrong with you. And it could really create problems what you've got going on. If I take what you're taking, my. I mean, this is powerful natural medicine. So it's like, you don't want to just take anything just because someone is.
Nate Greenfield
Exactly. There should be no guesswork with supplementation. You should look at your blood work and let that tell you what you need to do. And so that's what we do. We create the longevity blend. It's AM&PM packets designed specifically for the individual based on their blood work. And it couldn't be more simple than that. I take my AM packet in the morning before I leave to the office, and I bring my PM packet with me to the office.
Alex Clark
It breaks it up. Time of the day.
Nate Greenfield
Oh, yeah, yeah, for sure. It should be that way, too. There are certain things that, you know, you want to take in the evening that you. That you don't want to take in the morning, and vice versa. It's totally precise. So that's how supplementation should be done. But generally, generally people, they hear, oh, I should be taking this, because somebody online told them that, then they go to Amazon and they, they find the cheapest product on Amazon that has that same name that they were told, yeah, they should be taking, because that's the.
Alex Clark
Problem too, is where we're sourcing our supplements from and all the filler junk that's in a lot of these. It's awful.
Nate Greenfield
There's no regulatory body that is making sure what's on the label is actually in the product that just really the supplements is a wild, wild west.
Alex Clark
Yeah.
Nate Greenfield
And I'm not for, you know, bureaucracy by any. But you need to know if you're buying something on Amazon, don't just trust a label. Make sure you do your due diligence. Look at where these supplement companies are sourcing their products. Look for third party validation that supports, you know, what the claims that these supplement companies are making. So everything that Jevoty does, it all comes out of a pharmacy. It's all third party tested.
Alex Clark
And you're not only doing supplements because you're helping people. If they need hormone replacement, if they want to start taking peptides, which I am crossing my fingers, I really am on this peptide thing. I really want to try some. So I hope that the, the, my health team will have some good recommendations for me. I'm meeting with my health team in like a week I think. So I haven't gotten to do that part yet of the Jevity process, but I'm very anxious to find out about that.
Nate Greenfield
Hormone therapy is one of the things that we do, hormone optimization. So that looks different for of course men and women. But our hormones are so out of whack, especially nowadays. I mean, there's men, for example, who are walking around with testosterone levels of a 50 year old male from, you know, 50 or so years ago. I forget the exact statistic but. And then women, women are, are struggling. There's so many hormonal imbalances that probably derive because of our, our, you know, inadequate food supply essentially, but also our lifestyle and environmental factors that play into that. Our job is when we can, let's use natural interventions to get your hormones back to optimal. But for perimenopausal or menopausal women, hormone therapy is absolutely a necessity in most instances. And that's one of the things we do here at Jevity as well. And it's simple. Again, it's all based on your blood work. There's no guesswork. You purchase it through our application. We're not marking up the costs of that as well, which is awesome. And we send it to your house. You don't have to go to a pharmacy to pick it up. It's just delivered to your door and you have a physician in your pocket that you can address whenever you want to ask questions about your hormone therapy protocol. And then there's peptides, which is more on the regenerative medicine side of things than Jevoty is very big into regenerative medicine. Peptides, stem cell therapy, that sort of stuff.
Alex Clark
So are you guys gonna get into stem cell therapy?
Nate Greenfield
We are. We have plans on getting into that.
Alex Clark
Exciting.
Nate Greenfield
Yeah. This year.
Alex Clark
Okay. I'm very interested in that. I would like to be one of the guinea pigs.
Nate Greenfield
Awesome. Yeah, we'll include you in that.
Alex Clark
And I'm local, so please.
Nate Greenfield
Yeah, yeah. At home. Stem cell IVs is what we're getting into.
Alex Clark
You guys also do stuff for hair regrowth, don't you?
Nate Greenfield
We do things for hair regrowth for men and women. We noticed a lot of women of women coming to us after Covid losing hair. There's this notable uptick in, in women coming to us with. With hair loss issues. And so we have products here at Jevoty that address that. Again, we try to address the root cause, but if and when necessary, we're going to use, you know, pharmaceutical products that are compounded locally, not big pharma to address those issues or we're going to include something in your longevity blend that will address those issues as well. There's a lot of different reasons behind this. And there's one reason why people are losing their hair. And so each situation needs to be addressed individually and uniquely. And again, that's what Jevoty does really, really well. We are tailor making the product around the individual.
Alex Clark
How do Jevoty tests show abnormalities or show signs of diabetes or metabolic issues long before even symptoms?
Nate Greenfield
Your blood work is going to absolutely paint the picture before symptoms arise. And it's important. That's why frequent blood work is necessary. So for example, at Jevoty we at no added cost, part of the membership. We run your blood work twice annually. And again, it's extensive. We're looking at 100 plus biomarkers.
Alex Clark
So are people not getting their blood work done frequently enough?
Nate Greenfield
No, goodness no. My father passed away because he wasn't getting his blood work frequently enough. And most Americans will go a year or more at a time without going in and looking underneath the hood. And when they do, again, the blood work is not adequate. It the reason behind that is because doctors are going to only add to the blood work requisition what insurance is going to cover. And insurance does not like preventative or proactive health care because that's the first.
Alex Clark
Thing people are going to ask. Well, is this covered by insurance?
Nate Greenfield
No, but we make it so affordable that hopefully for most people it fits into their situation. Insurance, like I said, does not like proactive or preventive health care. HSA and FSA funds will cover what we do. So there is that. Insurance, unfortunately is part of the reactive sort of traditional western medicine system that we're trying to break through.
Alex Clark
You say you wish your fave podcasters would be more transparent. Well, how's this for transparency? Poop. I used to really struggle with constipation. Like would go once a week. Actually thought it was just, oh, that's a me thing, you know, I knew nothing. But then I discovered a game changing ritual that completely turned my gut health around. Bone broth. Specifically kettle and fire bone broth. Now I look skinty and not bloated. I started having a cup of their chicken or beef bone broth every morning. Just simmering it on the stove for four minutes, adding a pinch of real salt, and boom, I was ready to go. What biomarkers do you feel are the most important for longevity?
Nate Greenfield
I can't really pinpoint any specific biomarker. I think it's important to stay on top of it all. I think inflammation markers are important to look at. We're all walking around with inflammation due to various reasons. Primarily, I think because our food supply is so bad. So we need to look at inflammation markers, things like C reactive protein and other markers as well. Looking at traditional cholesterol is no longer adequate. We know that it's a biomarker that has very little relevance nowadays because now we know we should be looking at things like apolipoprotein A1 or apolipoprotein B. It really depends on the individual. It's important to stay on top of all of it. I mean, as we age, our hormones are going to become imbalanced out of whack. And so that's, that's, you know, incredibly important to stay on top of. We have young people coming to us with hormone imbalances that we want to address too. So certainly hormone imbalances are not just for older people. We're having young people come to us with hormone imbalances that we're addressing and that's important. You don't know really who you are or what life is supposed to feel like unless your hormones are balanced. I mean, we have people coming to us who they've accepted this as normal and we do some simple interventions get their hormones back to normal and they feel like a totally, totally different person. They found themselves again, their relationships are better, their energy levels are higher, their sex life is better, which is semi taboo, but it's important.
Alex Clark
Sure, yeah.
Nate Greenfield
All these things are so dependent on hormones. So hormones are definitely an important thing that we should be looking at at as it pertains to longevity. But we, we really don't leave any stone unturned. Everybody's so different. We're trying to look at as much as we can and track it over time. That's important too. Not enough people get their blood work done first off, but even less do it routinely. And when we're talking about getting ahead of the curve, it's important that we're tracking the trends of each of these biomarkers over time. If you're just looking one off every now and then, that's going to paint a picture. Sure. But you want to know, where are things trending? That's how you get ahead of things like cardiovascular disease. That's how you get ahead of things like cancer.
Alex Clark
Do any biomarkers at Jevity test for cancer?
Nate Greenfield
So we do have a test at Jevity in our marketplace that is specific for cancer screening, which is really cool. So there's traditionally two ways of going about it. One has more clinical validation, one has less. The one we offer, it's a test by Grail. It's a, it's called gallery, and it's, it's a blood draw. It's essentially, simply put, it's a methylation test. It's looking at fragmentation of DNA from cancer cells and it's able to essentially assess if you have early stage cancer or late stage cancer across 50 or so different types of cancers. And it's super accessible. You go to the Jevity application if you're a member. We're not marking this test up at all. And if you have a family history, or if in your longevity panel, which is the hundred plus biomarker panel that we run initially and then again every six months, if there's anything abnormal in your, your CBC or if there's inflammation markers that are totally out of whack and you have a family history, we're going to say, hey, if you have the means, you should consider this test. The, the gallery test. We have a wide array of different testing options. Outside of our standard blood work. I say standard blood work. It's, it's far from standard compared to what's out there. Things like Dutch testing, things like GI map.
Alex Clark
So you do all of that as well?
Nate Greenfield
Yeah, absolutely.
Alex Clark
My audience is really like, they all want to know where to get the Dutch test.
Nate Greenfield
Yeah, we're going to start with the blood work and let that, you know, create the blueprint. But yeah, we have a lot of people who really love Dutch testing as well.
Alex Clark
Gut microbiome too.
Nate Greenfield
Yeah, yeah, The GI MAP looks at that, which is important. That's, that's critical, in my opinion. I try to push everybody towards the GI map.
Alex Clark
Not a fun process. But it is worth it.
Nate Greenfield
It a little bit. A little bit gross. But yes, you're right. And we're constantly adding to this. We have a. We work with a lab called Genova. We offer their metabolomics panel, which is a micronutrient array. Micronutrients are critically important as well as it pertains to just feeling good. We're walking around with so many nutrient deficiencies. Most people, and we don't even know it. And it's because our food supply just frankly stops.
Alex Clark
Soil. The soil that's growing, our food, all of it. I mean, that's what's contributing to the mineral deficiency. Nutrient deficiency.
Nate Greenfield
That's right.
Alex Clark
Think people get confused, like, why is this testing? Like, why is it a monthly membership? And so what I think is important to hear, what Nate is saying, is that it is an ongoing team of health professionals that are checking in with you, that are seeing how you're doing. Like, on your app, it'll tell you everything. Your biological age, how you're doing. Is your health improving? Is it getting worse so that you can track your progress? Because if you just do this one and done, and then it's like, okay, I went and got a Dutch test, but now I have no idea what to do with these results. I have no team to check in with me in a couple months to see how I'm improving or not. I mean, that's kind of critical. Otherwise, I feel like this is all kind of null and void. You don't have that safety net of people to help you.
Nate Greenfield
Exactly.
Alex Clark
That's what I liked about you guys. And one of the top questions that I get asked when it comes to Jevy is like, okay, well, there's a lot of different companies out there that test biomarkers that do labs like Function Health. And we love the people at Function Health. But what is it about Jevity that is different than Function Health so that people understand just like some pros and cons or some differences.
Nate Greenfield
Let me start by saying we're a fan of function. We're a fan of any diagnostic solution that looks at as many blood biomarkers as we're looking at. Frankly, it's a matter of look, if it's going to be function that gets you through the door and getting looked at, looking underneath the hood, by all means, let it be function. We want it to be jeopardy. Of course, where we're different is function is a diagnostic solution. They're looking at 100 or so biomarkers, also a membership model. And then I believe three to six months later, they're looking at 60. Well, one, you have to go into a lab for that blood draw. For some people that's fine, but my wife would never find the time to go into a lab. Me neither. I'm at the office all day, every day. That doesn't work with either of our lifestyle, so there's that. But if you're looking for just a general assessment of your health, your health status, your current health status, and then I guess your health status six months down the line, function's a great solution. They're looking at a lot of biomarkers. It's certainly better than going to your primary care physician and asking for a full panel. But where Jevity's different is we're sort of an end to end solution. So it doesn't stop at the blood work. With function, it kind of stops as at the blood work. We're going to use this blood work to create, create a, a care plan for the individual geared towards longevity and really walk through that process with the individual. It's, it's, it's a, a journey that, that does not stop at blood work. And so of course, we're going to look at all the biomarkers. We're going to sit down with you and we're going to review that with you. And when I say sit down, this is virtual through your application. And we're going to create a, a protocol geared towards health optimization. And in turn, as a byproduct of a longer life, that's what we're getting at. That's. Jevity is a play on the word longevity. And we always talk about, well, it starts with health optimization and as a byproduct of increased health span, that's where you're going to find increased lifespan. And so Jevity is different because we're taking this and we're creating an actionable plan to go off of. And we're actually walking through that plan with you and that looks like, of course, longevity blend your hormone or peptide therapies, where we have functional nutritionists on staff. So we're going to use your blood work, your lifestyle, all the, all of this data to create, you know, meal plan protocols for you, help you on that front.
Alex Clark
I'm excited about that, really.
Nate Greenfield
Honestly, it's like a wellness concierge in your pocket.
Alex Clark
Aren't there some biomarkers that you offer that they don't.
Nate Greenfield
Yeah, I'm sure I wouldn't know those off the top of my head. We offer generally, you know, especially with what we have in our marketplace, we have, we have a wide array of things that we're looking at, but our blood work is, is, is just as good, if not a little bit better. And then it doesn't stop at the blood work with us.
Alex Clark
Yeah. One interesting thing that you guys do is that you allow people to upload other tests or labs or information that they have. So if you are wearing wearables like an aura ring, you can be submitting that data to your health team. Right. Or if you've done a Dutch test before, like, you know, semi recently, right before you sign up for Jevity, then you can add that data into there, into there so that your whole health concierge there has access to it and can use that in your assessment. They don't only have to go by what Jevity did, which is very cool.
Nate Greenfield
Exactly. It's encouraged. We want all of it. We want the full health context, your full health history. We want your past labs if you want to provide those. You raise a good point. I'm wearing my aura ring and all of this data is feeding back to my, my wellness provider at Jevity so they can know what does my sleep patterns look like? What is my heart rate variability? These are key metrics that are important to track. I mean, sleep is just critical as it pertains to longevity heart rate variability. There's correlations between a longer life and a good heart rate variability. And it's not just our care team as well. We're using some really sophisticated technology to make sense of all of the. All of this data. It's hard to sit down, assess a hundred or so biomarkers across various physiological systems, make sense of all of this data, cross reference that with clinical protocol, cross reference that with the cutting edge longevity science out there, take into account things like wearable metrics, and use this information to develop a care plan custom to the individual. Not saying it's impossible, it's just hard and lengthy. It takes a lot of time to do so. We know that because we do it on a daily basis. So we've built, and are building continuously a really sophisticated AI machine learning model that takes all of this health data and better than humanly possible, make sense of it, which is really, really cool. There's Only so many Dr. Coles to go around. Right. It'd be so cool to take him and clone him and put him in every practice across the country, and our world would be better for it.
Alex Clark
So weird you bring him up because I just filmed another interview before you. And she also brought him up and how he saved her life. Yeah, so Everybody's talking about Dr. Cole.
Nate Greenfield
Lately because he's somebody who is doing it well and he's doing it right. And he's. And you know, just like any profession, there's a, there's a spectrum in terms of skill set. And you know, he's obviously on, on the more exceptional side of that, of that spectrum, but there's only so many of him to go around and you can't clone him. And unfortunately, just, just like there's the exceptional side of the spectrum, there's exceptionally poor physicians out there as well. And that's why it's important to do your own due diligence before you go and get care from anybody. What we're doing is we're taking the wisdom and knowledge from the best in the world and essentially putting it into our AI and machine learning model so we don't have to clone Dr. Cole. We can provide just as good output at scale. But what this allows us to do is do it quicker, do it better, see more people, make longevity accessible. That's our mission.
Alex Clark
Moms, did you know that mouth breathing could be silently affecting your child's health in ways that you might not even realize? From chronic congestion to restless sleep and even ADHD like symptoms, it's all linked to a hidden epidemic. We're not talking enough about mouth breathing. Research shows that children today are developing narrower jaws and smaller airways, which makes mouth breathing almost inevitable. But what if there was a way to fix it? Well, I love Toothpillow. It's a virtual program created by top airway dentists that addresses the root causes of your child's health issues, not just the symptoms. So if your child is showing any signs of poor sleep, snoring or crooked teeth, it's time to act. Do not wait. Go to toothpillow.com and use code Alex Clark for a free video assessment. Today it's time to give your child the gift of better sleep and better behavior. We all want that, right? All from the comfort of your own home. That's toothpillow.com code Alex Clark for a free video assessment. How much is it per month?
Nate Greenfield
It's $129 a month, paid quarterly or annual. So 389 a quarter. Our annual is actually a discounted rate. It's 109amonth, 1300 annual.
Alex Clark
And if somebody were to just say, you know what, I'm not doing some membership. This sounds nuts to me. I'm just going to go to labcorp and I'm going to have them do individually all of these different tests and lab work. How much would they pay?
Nate Greenfield
Oh, north of $2,500.
Alex Clark
Okay, that's exactly what I thought.
Nate Greenfield
And, and even if, if insurance would cover some of it, they'd only cover 5 to $700 of it because again we're talking about proactive and preventative care here. Insurance doesn't want to touch it, which doesn't make too much sense to me. But it's all part of this big profit generating big pharma western medicine machine. But what's really cool is that's not an extra cost at Jevity that's included in the membership. So essentially twice a year you're getting a $2,500 plus panel at no added cost. It's just built into your membership.
Alex Clark
And which states is Jevoty available in?
Nate Greenfield
So currently we're available in 12 states. By the time this is aired we're going to be in 29 different states and we are actively working to get in all 50.
Alex Clark
And you can see which states those are on your all's website, gojevity.com and you can also use my discount code for 20% off your first month which is Alex goevity.com and you can cancel anytime. Right. You're young, you're super into all things health and wellness. You have a young family, you have two little kids. What are some fun regular health and wellness types of things that your family is into? Just like on your day to day routine, walking essentially.
Nate Greenfield
It's just so fun that I live in a tremendous neighborhood. For example there's a farm. And so you know, my two and a half year old, he loves every day he's like let's go look at the chickens cause there's a chicken coop there. And you know, getting outside, being active, being present with the family but also getting our steps in. I mean we're, we're knocking out easily on a daily basis 10 to 15,000 steps a day. I'm balancing this business and trying to grow this business and make longevity accessible to all. What I'm doing pales in comparison to what she's doing. She's, she's trying to you know, wrangle in a two and a half year old. And while she's you know, fully present with now a four week old, this is a product for the busy moms out there that simply one, they don't know where to start.
Alex Clark
That's what I liked about this because that's the thing like what supplements do I take? What labs do I need to be asking for? Where do I get a Dutch test? Like I'm confused. How do I even find a functional medicine doctor? This is really your one stop shop for all of it. And actually it's all can just, it can all happen in your home, which is incredible.
Nate Greenfield
And the care gets better over time. Again, like not to lose people with the AI and machine learning, but this technology allows us to actually enhance the care and become predictive. We're getting to a place where our technology is becoming so good and we're going to roll this out later this year where according to our care plan that we generate for you guys, our, our team of experts come together paired with AI machine learning to make. We're going to be able to accurately depict what your biomarkers and biological age and these things will look like six months from now. And technology has gotten us to a place where we're able to do it. Where the stars have aligned in many ways. One being we're at this sort of convergence between cutting edge technology and longevity science. Another way the stars have aligned is we have an administration who is actually interested in bettering the health of America. So I think this is God's blessing on our country that all of this stuff is coming to a head where we have amazing technology that can actually extend lifespan paired with cutting edge longevity science, paired with an administration who wants to promote these things. Yeah, we feel blessed every day that Jevity is a voice in this space. And the mission that we're promoting is in an administration that actually has our best interest where we didn't have that previously.
Alex Clark
If you could give one remedy, Nate, to heal a sick culture, and it could be physically, mentally or spiritually, what would it be?
Nate Greenfield
I think that trusting in God's provision is everything. I think you have to. You know, so often I find myself trying to grab onto things so tight that I end up strangling the life out of things. Whether it's business, whether it's relationships, not literally.
Alex Clark
You know, his wife is like, wait.
Nate Greenfield
But you know, it's like when you let go, when you let go, that's when, that's when you can notice God's blessing. That's when you can make room to see what he has in store for you in your life. And that's the, that's the way I try to live my life and that's the way I try to lead our company. That's the way I try to lead our household. And I've noticed in My life, it's the moments when I try to hold on too tight, when things feel like they're falling apart. Which sounds counterintuitive, but I guess that would be my remedy. Just let go and trust in God's provision.
Alex Clark
Where can people go? Sign up for jevity gojevity.com.
Nate Greenfield
That'S G E V I T I. It's a play on the word longevity. We put an I at the end of it. It. It's fancy. And of course you have a code. People can skip the wait list. The waitlist is growing. We're trying to get to a place where we can essentially have no more wait list. That's our goal. So we're taking on, you know, people in waves. But we're. We're staffing up our team so we can support everybody.
Alex Clark
Yeah. So there is literally a wait list. Like, I mean, he's telling the truth with that because you. These people have to be able to have time to meet with all the people that have a membership and go over their labs and all that. So it takes a minute. It.
Nate Greenfield
But with your code, they can skip it. Go. You know, my name is Nate Grille. You can find me on social media. LinkedIn. Nate Grille.
Alex Clark

Culture Apothecary with Alex Clark
Episode: How to Test Your Biomarkers & Why Your Doc Isn't Doing It | Jevity Founder Nate Greenfield
Release Date: April 1, 2025
In this enlightening episode of Culture Apothecary with Alex Clark, host Alex engages in a profound conversation with Nate Greenfield, the founder of Jevity. They delve into the critical importance of biomarker testing, the shortcomings of the traditional healthcare system, and how Jevity is revolutionizing proactive health management. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in taking control of their health through comprehensive, personalized solutions.
Nate opens up with a poignant story about his father’s untimely death, highlighting the gaps in regular health monitoring:
Nate Greenfield [00:00]: "My father passed away because he wasn't getting his blood work frequently enough. He did all the right things... but he never went in to go look underneath the hood."
Despite maintaining a healthy lifestyle—regular workouts and a balanced diet—Nate's father overlooked essential blood work, leading to a late diagnosis of cancer. This personal tragedy propelled Nate to found Jevity, aiming to prevent others from experiencing similar losses through proactive health management.
The conversation shifts to critiquing the American healthcare system's reactive nature:
Nate Greenfield [14:07]: "Oh my goodness, yeah. I mean it's totally reactive... it's way more profitable for people to be sick because then they can prescribe drugs and keep people in this constant sort of cycle."
Nate emphasizes that the current system prioritizes treatment over prevention, driven by profitability rather than patient well-being. This approach not only perpetuates health issues but also limits individuals' ability to lead healthier, longer lives.
Nate provides an in-depth overview of Jevity’s services, outlining how it stands apart from traditional and other alternative healthcare solutions:
Nate Greenfield [15:02]: "Jevity, simply put, is a health optimization membership... we're looking at a hundred or so biomarkers across various physiological systems."
Key Features of Jevity:
Nate underscores the importance of continuous monitoring and personalized interventions in maintaining optimal health, moving beyond the one-size-fits-all approach of traditional medicine.
The discussion moves to supplementation and hormone therapy as integral parts of Jevity’s approach:
Nate Greenfield [17:41]: "Supplementation is generally done this way... it's total guesswork. A lot of the times, quite literally, people are peeing it down the toilet because their body just doesn't need it."
Jevity eliminates the guesswork by tailoring supplements specifically to individual needs based on comprehensive blood work. This ensures that each person receives only what their body requires, enhancing effectiveness and minimizing waste.
Additional Services:
Nate elaborates on the critical biomarkers for longevity and the integration of various functional medicine tests:
Nate Greenfield [26:14]: "I think inflammation markers are important to look at... Looking at traditional cholesterol is no longer adequate."
Important Biomarkers:
Additional Testing Options:
Nate emphasizes that Jevity offers a wide array of tests to provide a holistic view of an individual's health, ensuring that no stone is left unturned in the pursuit of optimal wellness.
When comparing Jevity to other services like Function Health, Nate highlights Jevity’s comprehensive, ongoing care model:
Nate Greenfield [31:42]: "Where Jevity's different is we're sort of an end to end solution. So it doesn't stop at the blood work... we're going to use this blood work to create a care plan for the individual geared towards longevity."
Key Differentiators:
Jevity’s commitment to sustained, personalized care ensures that members receive the support they need to maintain and improve their health over time.
Looking ahead, Nate shares Jevity’s plans to incorporate regenerative medicine and enhance their technological capabilities:
Nate Greenfield [36:25]: "We're using some really sophisticated technology to make sense of all of this data... we're building a really sophisticated AI machine learning model that takes all of this health data and better than humanly possible, make sense of it."
Future Developments:
Nate expresses excitement about the convergence of advanced technology and longevity science, positioning Jevity at the forefront of proactive health management.
In a heartfelt conclusion, Nate shares his remedy for healing a sick culture:
Nate Greenfield [42:36]: "Trusting in God's provision is everything... let go and trust in God's provision."
Nate believes that faith and letting go of excessive control can lead to recognizing and embracing life's blessings, fostering a healthier, more balanced society.
This episode of Culture Apothecary offers a comprehensive look into the innovative approach of Jevity and the critical role of biomarker testing in proactive health management. Nate Greenfield’s insights underscore the importance of personalized, continuous care in achieving optimal health and longevity.
