Dick Grayson
You're listening to D.C. high volume. Batman. Wayne Manor is in danger. Or at least its chandeliers are from the acrobatic antics of Dick Grayson, the manor's newest resident. After Dick's parents were murdered during a circus performance, billionaire orphan Bruce Wayne gave him a new home. And Batman gave him a new purpose. With Bruce's attention divided, Commissioner Gordon plans his next move against the Hangman Killer. With or without the Dark Knight's help. And now, dark victory. Chapter 10.
Bruce Wayne
The Fourth of July Dick, do you like the fireworks? Alfred puts on quite a show, doesn't he?
Dick Grayson
What do you care? I mean, let's get serious. I don't belong here. Your house is as big as a circus tent all by itself.
Bruce Wayne
Dick Grayson has been living in Wayne Manor. It has been a difficult transition for both of us. And I cannot help but wonder if I've made a mistake by interceding in the boy's life. My attention has been splintered. I will find out who killed Dick's parents. He needs that closure. But tonight is a holiday and I am needed elsewhere. I'm hoping you get to like it here. Anything you want. I'm sure Alfred will find it. Or I could buy it for you. Dick, I know we have a lot.
Dick Grayson
To talk about, but you've got other plans. Big surprise.
Bruce Wayne
Gotham sewers. Starting last Halloween night, and in each month that followed, a Gotham City police officer has been hanged on a holiday. No one has taken this more personally than Police Commissioner James Gordon. It stops now. He's with his special task force hunting down the man who was Harvey Dent, Gotham City's former district attorney. He calls himself Two Face now. There was a time when we were all friends. I should have acted sooner. The evidence that Dent either is the Hangman or is involved in some way is incredibly damning.
Dick Grayson
And if he's innocent.
Bruce Wayne
Lopez, you come with me.
Dick Grayson
Yes, sir.
Bruce Wayne
King and Wilcox, you take this other tunnel. We stay in constant contact. No heroics. Not on this case. Gordon believes it is his job to stop the killings. He, more than any of them, needs this to end. Out of respect for him, I have decided to remain in the shadows for now. In TWO FACES Hideout. It's a veritable rogues gallery of freaks. A new one's joined him. Victor Freeze. AKA Mr. Freeze. A criminal with a subzero body temperature confined to a protective seat of his own making. That keeps him alive. Have you ever been in love? What the hell's that got to do with anything? When you are dealing with me, it has to do with everything. I do not care what your larger plans are. It is only about the money you have promised me. So you've said. Victor. Will you walk a little faster? Said a whiting to a snail. There's a porpoise close behind us and he's treading on my tail. Mad Hatter. Tell everyone to take a different tunnel. They won't find all of us. And Freeze. Remember, if I don't get out, you'll get nothing. I see.
Dick Grayson
Ice in July.
Bruce Wayne
Tunnel's blocked. We'll have to go back another way. Mr. Freeze. Well, we knew Two Face wasn't alone down here.
Dick Grayson
This hasn't started melting. We're getting close.
Bruce Wayne
You think we should have brought more people?
Dick Grayson
Screw that.
Bruce Wayne
He blames himself. You know, for o' Connor and Gustafson, the only connection they had to the Hangman murders was that they were protecting him.
Dick Grayson
Survivor's guilt.
Bruce Wayne
Gordon is the only one of us to escape the noose. Funny, though, it was Dent who saved him. If he has to. You think Gordon will Wilcox?
Dick Grayson
They came from over there.
Bruce Wayne
Stay close.
Dick Grayson
Getting colder.
Bruce Wayne
You should not have come this way. We're not here for you, Victor. We want Dent. And only Dent. Lopez. You froze your solid, you maniac. Are you all right?
Dick Grayson
Now I know what a TV dinner feels like.
Bruce Wayne
Taking you back up top.
Dick Grayson
Like hell you will. Go get Dent. I just need some time to get my circulation going.
Bruce Wayne
Leave your radio on.
Dick Grayson
Yes, sir.
Bruce Wayne
Time to make my entrance.
Dick Grayson
I had a feeling you'd be down here, too. I know I don't need to say this, but watch over him, okay?
Bruce Wayne
I will. Mad Hatter's in sniper position. Over. Gordon. If he's smart, he'll stand down. You can really have no notion how delightful it will be. Lopez.
Dick Grayson
Right where you left me.
Bruce Wayne
When they take us up and throw us with the lobsters out to Sea King Wilcox. Both of you report in. But the snail replied too far, too far. And gave a look askance. Mad Hatter cocks the revolver. Not smart.
Dick Grayson
Gordon. King.
Bruce Wayne
Wilcox, where are you? Look for a marking on the tunnel. Wilcox. Wilcox. I'm coming. Wilcox. Wilcox. Gordon.
Dick Grayson
Help.
Bruce Wayne
I'm here. Wilcox. Is King with you? Gordon's light lands on the horrific if now familiar view of a body hanging from a noose. Oh, King. Blank. You blank T I C E I blank B blank I N D Justice is I didn't kill that man. But she dies if you don't let me pass.
Dick Grayson
Shoot him, sir. Don't worry about me.
Bruce Wayne
Let her go. What are you going to do to me, Jimbo? We both know you never had the guts to do what needed to be done.
Dick Grayson
Kill him.
Bruce Wayne
You got two choices. I shoot you down or you surrender. All right, we play it your way for now. Harvey Dent, you are under arrest. As I watch this happen, it is becoming harder to remember when we were all friends.

That same night at the Haley Circus.
Dick Grayson
If.
Bruce Wayne
Mr. Zuko asked to come out here again. Haley it's gonna be bad. It's gonna make what happened to The Graysons look like the fun house. Ow. Who? The river's out here. You're messing with the roof.
Dick Grayson
What do you know about what happened to the Grayson?
Bruce Wayne
Ow. Shouldn't you be in bed, kid? You keep throwing rocks, someone's going to get hurt. Don't hurt. Tell everyone this circus is off limits. Okay, okay. Okay. That man. Just before the acid was thrown in his face. I was nearly ready to tell Harvey Dent the truth. About who I was, about my parents, all of it. I've taken young Dick Grayson to somewhere no one but myself and Alfred have ever been.
Dick Grayson
What happened to me?
Bruce Wayne
You took a knock to the head.
Dick Grayson
What? What is this place?
Bruce Wayne
I never thought to give it a name. You want to find out who killed your mother and father?
Dick Grayson
Yes.
Bruce Wayne
I can't let you go out there untrained. All you'll do is get hurt or worse. Had Harvey known he had someone who trusted him and believed in him, maybe things would be different now.
Dick Grayson
Why do you care what happens to me? I mean, I see more of you than that guy Wayne who's supposed to look out for me.
Bruce Wayne
It's time to do it. To remove the mask. Dick. Bruce, I know we have a lot to talk about.
Dick Grayson

Episode Focus: The fallout of the Hangman killings, the rising tension in Batman's relationships, and the deepening mystery surrounding Harvey Dent/Two-Face — all interwoven with Dick Grayson’s struggle for belonging.
This episode thrusts listeners into the shadowy depths of Gotham’s sewers, where the hunt for the Hangman killer reaches a fever pitch. The storyline interlaces the fracturing relationships between Bruce Wayne, his young ward Dick Grayson, Commissioner Gordon, and the tragic figure of Harvey Dent. The presence of Gotham's notorious rogues’ gallery adds peril and a sense of escalating danger. Overlaying all is a strong sense of loss—of family, of trust, of innocence—as Batman and his allies face crises of confidence and conscience.
| Timestamp | Segment/Highlight | |-------------|-----------------------------------------------| | 01:32 | Fireworks at Wayne Manor; Dick grapples with fitting in and loss. | | 02:57 | Transition to the Gotham sewers, setting up the tense hunt for Two-Face. | | 04:10 | Batman details the new villain alliance, spotlighting Mr. Freeze. | | 05:09 | Mad Hatter’s Carroll-inspired speech; villains split up, raising stakes. | | 07:22 | Dick Grayson frozen in the sewers, humor amid danger. | | 09:01 | Gordon encounters another Hangman victim, cryptic clue left. | | 09:45 | Two-Face taunts Gordon on morality and their history. | | 10:14 | Batman reflects on lost friendships. | | 12:01 | Dick returns to Haley Circus, seeking answers about his parents. | | 13:37 | Bruce warns Dick about reckless vengeance. | | 14:01 | Bruce prepares to reveal his identity—"remove the mask." |
The episode blends noir narration from Batman's perspective with terse, emotionally charged exchanges among characters. It balances grim police procedural elements, tense action, and poignant moments between mentors and lost protégés. The villains’ whimsical dialogue brings macabre levity, while the emotional core—Bruce and Dick’s evolving bond—is treated with subtle vulnerability.
"Batman: Dark Victory" Chapter 10 heightens the stakes in the war against Gotham’s manifold criminal threats while digging deeply into the emotional fissures between Batman, Dick Grayson, Gordon, and Dent. Through layered dialogue, internal monologue, and dark atmosphere, the episode charts the cost of seeking justice, the pain and messiness of surrogate family, and the sacrifices made on both sides of the law. The closing moments echo with promise: that out of trauma and darkness might come understanding, partnership, and—possibly—hope for both Batman and his new apprentice.
