So in a case like this, is an all non black jury automatically unfair? If you're unfamiliar with the case, we're getting into that. Also, a YouTube couple receives backlash for terminating a pregnancy for a child that they know had down syndrome. The conversation is if you agree or disagree that you should have the option to terminate a child if they will not be quote unquote healthy. Then as celebrities say the darnest things, Lil Boosie done got on God damn our Internet once again to say that trans are not allowed at his pool party. And Waka Flocka explains why he chooses Trump over Kamala. And I said Kamala like that on purpose because that's how he said it. And I'm so pissed with everyone saying it wrong. And then to see that now you're moving forward with sex work, mind you, you getting, I don't know, like, 65 or $7,000 a month from. From 50, $10,000 a month from Diddy, if almost $20,000 a month in child support alone. Is it enough to like, make you Just go out and get a job instead of selling yourself on the Internet. How much do you really value what your son may have to endure in, you know, in school with all of this that's come out about you? So this is a story that's happening in Texas that I feel like it may be flying under the radar nationally, but certainly not with Mandy, because Mandy's been saying, Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo Anthony. We think it's the Knicks player. But it's not.

It's a high school. It's a high school student who got into an altercation with another high school student who was the star football player. This happened at a track meet and then, you know, it led to a stabbing. And the other kid, who, like I said, was a star football player, his name is Austin Metcalfe, correct?

He died fatally of the wounds. And now Carmelo Anthony has been charged. And currently it's. The trial is happening right now.

So I wanna add a little bit to that in terms of the trial. He is being tried as an adult.

This is for first degree murder. And as of this week, none of the 12 jurors or the six alternates selected for this trial are black, despite the fact that this was quite the case last year when it happened, due to the fact that the student that did the stabbing that's now on trial is a black student. And Austin Metcalfe, who did pass away, is white. So the question and conversation I wanted to have around this is an all non black jury automatically unfair. I do also want to bring up that this is in Texas, which is predominantly and has been a red state.

Which does lean into. Even when we talk about Bible Belt. They're not really associated with that. However, they are very. Just Southern in.

Texas has a reputation for being an outlaw state.

Like, you know, like we do what we want in Texas and Texas has harsher penalties and they're down for all this thing, capital punishment, life in prison, the whole gamut of things that you can do fucked up to somebody. Texas is game four.

If we take out Carmelo Anthony being black and it's two students that are both black or both white. Let's not even, you know. Do you view this case differently? Because for me, I would just go

ahead in the setup. In the setup. Ja. It was an altercation that happened at a track meet. Apparently Carmilla was underneath the tent. The kid asked him to move and get away and he said that it was in self defense.

And so there was intent to kill. Although there was just a shuffle. It was a fight. Now a king is like he was being bullied. I in no case believe that a student should stab another student in the heart. And so for me, I understand self defense. But if it was a shuffle, it was a track meet. I don't think a weapon should. It shouldn't have gotten to a point where there was a weapon, even if there was size difference. So for me, as I'm looking at this case, 17 is also a tricky age as to whether he's a child or adult. I Understand that's a little tricky.

Under Texas law, you have no legal duty to retreat from an attacker before using force, including deadly force, as long as you meet those conditions I mentioned previously. So I think what happens here is what were the conditions that occurred prior to the incident?

So the conditions around this situation, right?

The first thing I want to note is that the so I don't go to a lot of track meets, but the well I, I, I did okay. So a track coach was was brought to the stand. He testified that a track meets are chaos and a lot of times a lot of these athletes mingle with each other. The athletes are all over the field. They're in different tents. They're all over the place.

It's not abnormal for a Carmelo who doesn't belong to this team to go into another tent. Now, he didn't just go into this tent for no reason. He had a friend or person that he knew in this tent. That person also testified, said, you know, I seen Carmelo. We dapped each other up. We sat down, we chopped it up for a little bit, sat down talking. So this other person was not tripping about. He saw somebody he knew, they sat down, had a conversation. Austin Metcalf decided that this was not he didn't want this going on. He decided he didn't want Carmelo in this tent with them. He has every legal right to be there. You can voice your displeasure, say, hey, this is our team. Get the fuck out of here. He doesn't have to leave. But Carmelo. All testimonies say Carmelo was sitting down saying, y' all pussy. Y' all not gonna do nothing. I want to sit here. Nobody's gonna move me about this spot. Don't put your hands on me or find out. Had his hand in a book bag. They say multiple people testified to that. He's sitting down. Austin Metcalfe is standing over him now at some point, he's standing over him, sitting down and telling this nigga to move. Get up out of here. So now you're a smaller person. They said Austin Metcalf had 70, 80 pounds on Carmelo Anthony. So now you have a smaller person who's Sitting and a bigger person who's standing over that person. That sounds like a threat. That sounds like a threatening situation. You got multiple teammates telling me, get out of here. Now they're all telling me to leave. It's getting rowdy. And I'm sitting here saying, don't touch me. I'm not leaving nowhere. I haven't presented any threat to you so far. And then Austin Metcalfe proceeds to push Carmela Anthony, which all the prosecution's witnesses also testified to, that Austin pushed him.

I will tell you right now, as someone who has been on a track team, has done track meets, basketball team, volleyball team, soccer team. I've been running. Yeah.

But as someone who's been to these different meets, as someone who was a teenager in sports, yes, there's a lot of feelings and emotions that happen at these meets. However, with all the adults that are normally around, with all of the other students that are normally around, in no way, shape or form, if I get into a tussle with someone from another team, another school, another. Should there be any fear for my life as a child in that setting? A lot of times, if there's a

tussle, it's a fist fight.

It's a fist fight. At most, it's going to get broken up really quickly, very fast. Yeah. So in no way do I feel that Carmelo. I'm sorry, is justified with stabbing another child in his heart over a seat or a tussle at a track meet, because at most you would have got a black eye. At most, it would have been a fight. But there are so many adults at these track meets. There are so many students. And if Carmelo, your homeboy, was also right there, or whoever, you went to go see something would have been. There was no reason to pull out a weapon. Because at a track meet, as a child, in a tussle with just another child, I don't feel like you feared for your life enough to stab this man, to stab this boy where you did. And so I understand that, yes, this is Texas. I understand. Stand your ground, cuz. Hello, Florida. We've had a huge, you know,

And so I get you standing over him, like, to me, even if I push someone out the way. Or bro, you don't like.

That his life was not threatened.

Metcalf would have just pushed him and that would have been it.

But even if it's not immediately, his homeboy was right there that testified. So there's somebody that would have gotten in the middle of it to where it wouldn't have been, to where they should have actually.

Someone would have died because the homeboy sat there while they were running up on this man.

But that's what I'm saying. Who knows how quick if he sat there and said, don't touch me. Fuck around and find out. And then he goes to push him

But that's what I'm saying, even with what you said to the Castle Law, something about provocation. So if he was provoked, right, which he said. Like, if he said, do something, then to me, that's do something.

Then you add that with him being in Texas, what is his parents con? What are both of their parents conversations as it relates to de escalation? Well, just dealing with the other.

No, but they are. But at the end of the day, as still a little black boy, there should never also be a conversation where as parents and who knows what the conversation was. But there shouldn't be conversations where you kill another kid. You know what I mean? So I get what you're saying because yes, there's that element of black and white, but you stabbed the other little boy in the heart.

So like this isn't like the case

where the 20 year old son and dad from the grocery store chased that little black boy out the store and shot him in the back. He should not have done that.

That's a whole nother conversation.

And that's a whole nother conversation. Don't wanna go there. I understand the elements of race, but that's why I said when we remove it, these are two kids that attract me. I don't feel like his life was in danger. And unfortunately he did what you did. He got provoked. And if that person would have shot you in the vehicle. Yes, he would have went to jail. This boy, Carmelo Anthony, got only not in a fight, brought a weapon to a fight, stabbed another young boy in his heart.

Well, it has to be proven. Cause that's intent.

Like you have no legal duty to retreat from an attacker before using force. So you're including deadly force as long as you meet the following conditions. You have a legal right to be in a location where the threat occurs. You are not engaged in criminal activity at the time. And you did not provoke the Situation.

If we go on legal jargon,

So two. Two quick things. A. To me, the. This is obviously part of the. Race is part of the situation from a societal standpoint. Really race in this situation, I don't know how much it plays as much in the actual stabbing as it does in the jury situation. Like, there's no black jury.

Like, the Sixth Amendment guarantees us all a fair and speedy trial by a jury of your peers. If the jury is all white, I don't know how much that's a jury of my peers. Like, if we know. If we're gonna say that race is an issue in this case, then it would be much. To me, it would be much more transparent and much more understandable to say, all right, well, there's 12 people here. Let's get six white people and six black people. And if y' all can hash it out amongst each other, y' all come to whatever conclusion y' all come to. Great. The other part I want to mention is I'm disappointed in some of the niggas. There were 600 jurors summoned for this case. They picked 12 out of 600.

Some of the black people that got struck got struck because one of the guys said, I don't know if I can put a brother in jail. That's what my nigga lie. Lie to these people. Why the fuck would you be. I don't Give a fuck what you think, nigga. Don't tell them. I don't know if I could put a brother in jail. Lie to these people. You already know it's stacked up against us.

And even if you go to, like, what I'm saying, where it's like, was it a threat or was it an invitation? Part of that is cultural. So, like, you don't have to say, I don't, I don't. I can't put a black man in jail. You want to see justice, Sit be a part of it, who you are. Being a black person helps the trial. It helps the trial. It helps the trial because you may see something the way that another peer who's on the jury may not see.

And if you get in there, and even if you think, I can't put a black man in jail, if you get in that jury room, you hear the evidence and you just look at the situation to your point of, okay, even though he's black, I'm hearing all this evidence and I feel like it's this, then do that. But at least be on the fucking jury. Don't give them a reason to strike you because you're just saying obviously bias shit out loud for no reason. I just, I hate that shit.

But to me, unfortunately, we're still in a place and I get like reparations. I get that black men are unjustly imprisoned when they're not supposed to be. I'm fully aware of all those things. And killed and killed. But it leans us back into like even the OJ trial. So when I sat here and asked you hear me out. When I sit here and asked you if these two 17 year old boys were flipped and raised, you absolutely would have wanted to see that white boy go to jail for this crime of killing a black boy. It's just when we look at them as children, it's a tussle, it's a fight. I understand the race element, but you now are like, nope, I don't wanna see the black boy go to jail. But if the races were reversed, you

would have said, the law is the law. That's it. If you've been warned and you violate that personal space and you contact whatever happens after the violation, regardless of black, white, brown, whatever, it's over with. Okay, that's fair. I think that's. That's why I read. I was like, wow, okay. It's there for a reason.

Yeah. To me, it's a fair way to look at it. As if in the context.

And how much black men is running down on a white person like that, you don't see that. Imposing their will on a white person who does that. Yeah, niggas want to be left alone, Mandy.

And it seems like that's what, like, they voted Carmelo to be the captain of his track team. He's an honor student. And I'm not saying that to mean that you can't do crime and be an honor student in the captain, but what I'm saying is that even when Carmelo got bagged, the cop told, oh, we have the alleged. We have the alleged perpetrator here. He said, I'm not alleged. I did it.

I did it. He admitted it.

He said it to the cop. Why get him put in a handcuff? I did it. So in his mind, he's like, yeah, I did it. I wasn't defending him. I didn't come here to murder nobody. I came here to sit down and talk to my man. These white people got in my face. Nigga put his hands on me. I stabbed him. So he's not that. He's not even admitting that he didn't do it. He's saying, I did it in self defense.

And they have to prove intent, and

they have to because of. And I don't know how much we didn't talk about the Rick Child case that happened in Arizona, but essentially, there's a situation now where the defense, I'm sorry, the prosecution has to prove that it was not self defense. And that's a different burden than the defense having to prove that it was. So if I'm saying it's self defense, then it's on y' all to figure out how you make the case that no, it wasn't self defense, this was first degree murder, premeditated. You laid in wait, you did it on purpose, like all of that. And I don't think they can prove any of those things that I was laying in wait, that I came here to murder this kid, or none of that. It was a split second decision of, oh shit, they might fuck me up real bad, I gotta do something right now. And unfortunately, the kid got stabbed in the heart. That's like a very delicate place to get stabbed at.

So influencer couple Jesse and Ashley Ridgeway opened up about a devastating family decision revealing that they terminated a pregnancy after finding out their unborn child had down syndrome. Now, the way Jesse tells it, the decision came after extensive conversations with medical experts, friends and family. He says he initially felt optimistic about raising a child with the condition, but later learned more about the potential health complications and lifelong challenges often associated with the disorder, which led for them to choose to terminate the pregnancy. Now there's a lot of backlash.

I saw this and I'm upset that the Internet parents, non parents, have so much opinion about what this woman and man chose to do for the sake of their family planning. Secondly, key point. Secondly family planning, you also can't sit here and be on the side of wanting women to make the choices that they want to with their bodies and sit here and chastise this woman for choosing to not go through with a pregnancy. That, let me tell y', all, in this economy, boom. I have friends with children with disabilities. It is expensive, it is tumultuous on their mental health, and it is something that, I'm not gonna lie, I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

It is very hard. And so for me, as adults, I'm actually this type of coming forward. This is something that I wish we actually could see more of, because these are two adults that are aware that they may not have the capacity to raise a child. When we talk about children being in homes with unfit parents, we just talked about it with possibly Daphne Joy, right?

Yes.

These parents knew that they were unfit to raise a child and maybe provide the help, the love, the care that this child was gonna need to live a fulfilling life. So if we talk about caring about a child's life, it has to be as well with the home that they're gonna enter and what help and needs that they may need. And so, mind you, I do have a sister who takes medication because she's epileptic. So when she was pregnant, she literally had to wait till a certain trimester because of the medication. There was a chance that the spine could be inside out, essentially.

[CJ Toledano]

Damn.

[Mandy B]

Like, there's a certain thing that this medication could cause for the baby. And so she had to, like, get past a certain trimester before she could even connect to this child. Because there was even. She was suggested or told that you probably wouldn't want to go to full term because this baby is gonna have a very difficult complication.

Right.

[Mandy B]

And so for me, when we get into the reversal of Roe v. Wade, birth control not being as accessible or expensive and where we're at, I'm just. I'm disgusted that as a society, we're trashing and sending death threats to a couple that made the decision that they can't do it.

Yeah, I don't think you can.

Sending a death threat is real wild shit. You gonna kill your baby? I'mma kill you.

And they're not gonna help you at all.

Because guess what? Your kids are probably the same ones bullying. Like, are you even teaching your child to love and care for children with disabilities? Like, there's so little care to children with disabilities. And what's crazy is we all now have also the language for it, right? Like when I was growing up in school, we just thought they were bad. They had the bad kids, right? Like they were in the smaller classroom,

needed medicine after lunch, they ate lunch

at a different time. We thought they were bad. Not that they had adhd, not that there was autism, not that there was. Okay.

A host of the issues that can go on with the child.

[Mandy B]

We just said, oh, them kids are the bad ones.

[CJ Toledano]

Siloed them off and said, yeah, stay over there with that.

[Mandy B]

And they had to be in classes away from the quote unquote, regular kids and things like that. It's difficult. And now we actually have the language. And so we have parents that are like, I know what it would be to raise this child. I'm not gonna bruh.

It's so much shit. I think we. I wish that was a private situation, but they're not private. So obviously they have to give reasoning why they're not having this child. Right. But it's not a. It's something that we should all think about, you know.

[Mandy B]

Wait, what part? What should we think about?

[A King]

Well, if the physicians are saying, you know, the baby is going to be a certain way, are you going to be able to sustain and fulfill the commitment that's needed for long term care of. Those are the factors that you should consider as a woman and man when you're dealing with this thing. And I don't mean it like that thing, meaning the scenarios for those. Cause you know, dang you. But it's just. I don't have no problem with their assessment, their reasoning and their final. The conclusion to that scenario.

Now let me ask you.

I think on the surface it looks crazy.

Well, the other part of the.

Oh, you go mess around messing with a handicap, but it's not.

[Mandy B]

The other part of the Internet is saying that they should have just kept this to themselves.

But then everybody gonna say, oh, what happened to the baby? Cause y' all doing content every day and we see the bump with the baby.

Well, that's the thing I was gonna get to. Is that a. Yeah, I probably. I mean, like you said, they are a YouTube couple. This is what they do. This is their content. Wheelhouse. So you have to address it.

They probably day one, after we had our first sonogram, day two, so when there's no more days like what happened.

But also, I think there's a way to address it that, you know, they didn't even have to provide all of that backstory if they didn't want to.

They could have just said, we decided not to go forward with this.

That's how you think it should have been left?

I don't personally, I wouldn't have given people this amount of, you know, to go back and forth.

It wasn't a miscarriage. But if you are pregnant, unfortunately, that's the thing. There's. There's women that can't have babies, and every fucking Thanksgiving, their family's like, when you giving us a baby.

The way that people feel so entitled to the womb of a woman is disgusting. And so for this, even if the statement just would have been, we lost the baby. How.

But here's the thing. If it ever leaks that that's the reason why, then that's gonna be an issue that you're gonna have to respond to.

[Mandy B]

Yeah. I mean, to me, unfortunately, again, if the bump was there journey and you chose to not continue with the full length of the journey, you gotta tell me, here's the reason why.

[CJ Toledano]

Yeah, here's the reason why. So that's one part of it, I think. The other thing is that this isn't like a new scenario. People have been under these kind of situations forever about, you go to the doctor, you get your sonogram, they tell you what's going on, and they say, hey, we need to talk about this. Something might be going on with your child. This is not nowhere near a unique situation to these particular. Like, this happens to a lot of people who have to make that decision. You can't pick and choose if you think that abortion is a woman's choice. In this case, a woman's choice and a couple's choice. A couple's choice. They're talking about that they decided to do this. You can't pick and choose the reason if you don't like. If the reason was we got pregnant, but neither of us can afford to have this kid right now. People who are pro abortion who might be critical of this couple would say, oh, we understand that if you can't afford the baby, you don't want to. You're not ready to do that. You have things going on in your life. They would say, we understand that. That's Your choice. People are upset because of the optics of it. Say, oh, well, you're treating a potentially disabled child as less than you're throwing a disabled child away. And it's like, okay, if that's the path you wanna take with it, you're saying that the child's situation is more important than the mother's. And that's exactly what conservatives and Republicans argue for, why abortion shouldn't be illegal because the child is supposed to have this autonomy, that you shouldn't be allowed to take a child's life once it's conceived. It's a fetus, it's growing. It's a child that can make its own decision, quote, unquote, about whether they come into the world or not. So you can't. And so if that's your logic behind it, arguing that these people are wrong for doing that contradicts the whole argument that you're trying to make about why this is, why that's not true. When conservatives and Republicans try to pass laws for that same reason.

[Mandy B]

Jason, I'm curious, because you and your wife have children. Has this ever been a conversation with you during the lengths of pregnancy? Do you agree with this couple? I know you're not as public, but what are your thoughts on this?

[Jason Rodriguez]

Yeah, no, it's interesting. So my wife, when we had our child, my wife was over 35 years old, which classified her automatically as a high risk pregnancy for women. So, you know, it's like every type of situation becomes like a, you know, a conversation you have to navigate with, whether it's your wife's health or the child's health. And you know, those are like really complex conversations. And I think what happens with Internet discourse is that they try to act as if morality can exist in a vacuum.

[A King]

Right?

[Jason Rodriguez]

And the thing about like, like moral values and moral decisions, they're so complex because you have to take into account your financial situation, again, what you said earlier, your mental health. And so, you know, people are making these comp. These conversations, excuse me, these decisions with all kinds of factors tilted in, and they're trying to like weigh them and make it and determine like what are consequences or not. So it's just a really difficult thing. And we have like the Internet on your back, which is like, this happened this one thing. So this is wrong and that's just not the reality of the situation. So like when me and my wife, you know, we have one daughter, shout out to Maddie, she's almost nine years old, it's a difficult conversation. You have to make all these Decisions that you're only, like, you're just hoping is the best, and you're hoping that you're making the right decision. And that's just when you do it in private. So to be like a YouTube couple, where your brand is to give and talk about everything, and also, like, where the woman, I'm assuming, is thinking that she's doing the right thing because she wants to express, like, it's my womb. You can make your own choices. You know, I'm trying to, like, make sure that the way that the world is tilting doesn't close for women's choices. Like, you know, I'm sure she certainly had her right reasons that she felt were righteous.

[Mandy B]

And I'll say, not only that I think this is. This, to me, the act was not great. You know, let me make that clear. But also, in a world where the abortion conversation is normally that the father has no say, this was a decision made by both parties, which we normally also don't really hear about because a lot of men are like, she made that decision without me, or I wanted her to have it, but she chose to keep it anyway. It's often not the conversation when it comes to abortion that both parties agree that this was the best for them together. So I love that both parties were even able to make this decision together. And again, with the help of professional experts, friends and family, this was a group decision.

[CJ Toledano]

And a lot of times when you have, you know, to your point, about people, you know, feeling like they have entitlement to a woman's womb, like, you know, find out a couple is having a baby. And one of the most common questions is, you know, do you want a boy or do you want a girl? And one of the most common answers

[Mandy B]

is, I want a healthy baby.

[CJ Toledano]

That's what people say when they get that question. And the reason that's said is because that is one of the biggest fears it is. Is that like, yes, it could be high risk to the mother and the child might not be. Well, depending on the millions of complications

that could happen with a human.

[CJ Toledano]

Yep. And so.

And that will determine the trajectory of how you can function for forever.

From that point on, it's like either gonna go that road, this road, or that road.
