A King
They wish you move back. I mean, the city is alive. We moved out to get away from the noise. Yeah, but that was before the noise was from the Knicks winning. You really want to be woken up by construction and sirens again? This time we'll be woken up by prideful cheers. And that's better than the birds chirping. Okay, well, it's almost summer. You always hated the summer in the city. A little sweat, a little stink. It is what it is. What about the subway? You always hated that, too. Learn to love it again. And what about the rats? When you really think about it, they're kind of cute. Splinter from the Ninja Turtles. He's a rat and he's great. What about rent? You willing to pay those prices again? You gotta spend money to make money, am I right? How is spending money on rent gonna make us money? I don't know. Go Nicks. What about nature? No more green. No more backyard with a garden. What are you talking about? The city's got a garden. The garden. And that's the only backyard we need. You're not thinking straight. Three years ago you said the city was literally killing you. Brunson and the boys are my savior, okay? And look, if I die, I die. Because all that really matters is Go Nicks.
Yomi
Go Nicks.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, guys, to another episode of Selective Ignorance. It's your host, your girl, Mandy B. AKA not a Nick fan, but a New Yorker at heart. And for life. Now, y', all, we're starting the podcast off, of course, but this is not a sports podcast. But we're talking about the New York Knicks, who won in five. They are the NBA champs and we got the experience of experiencing New York during game three and four. We'll talk about game five. We'll talk about the Finals. We're also going to get into the 2026 FIFA World cup and question if it's possibly the worst World cup ever and why. Then in this Is America, the Carmelo Anthony trial verdict is in. He was sentenced to 35 years. We will discuss yet again whether we think this high profile trial had any due to fairness during the proceedings and kind of what he was charged with. And again, if you haven't, make sure you go check out. I believe it was episode 66 where we discussed our thoughts on that. Then a Georgia man opens fire on a family reunion and then was only released with a 5K bond. So we're talking about what the fuck this country is really doing and if justice really exists. Elon Musk becomes the world's first trillionaire. And then in Celebrities say the Darnest Things, Rick Ross responds to flying economy. There's a lot of talk about money, a lot of talk about race this week, a lot of talk about justice, but also a lot of talk about the orange and blue. We're getting into it, y'.

Mandy B.
It's another episode of selective ignorance. And of course, listen, y', all, we started with the Knicks clip. My prediction was off. But you know, if you go back to the episode.
A King
Hold on.
Mandy B.
If you go back to the episode, I did say New York is still the best city in the world, but I just wanted to see the crash out of Knicks fans again. But also seeing Knicks fans celebrate was, I think, just as enjoyable. I'm not even going to lie.
Yomi
Yeah, we were going to crush out regardless.
Ryan Reynolds
No, no, no, no.
Mandy B.
It was the crush out was happening either way. And we have our notable Knicks representative sitting here. The OG pot legend nicked out from head to toe. Hey, King, What's up? Go ahead.
Jason Jolly
I just want to say Congratulations to your 2026 NBA Champion New York Knicks. Shout out to the whole New York Knick organization. Shout out to every New Yorker, real New York Knicks fan, because you are New York Knicks too, You know, Shout out to yomi. You know what I'm saying? Congratulations, yomi. Yeah, yeah, congratulations. And I just want to say a big shout out. I know we're going to get into soon.
Mandy B.
Oh, we going to get it to all.
Jason Jolly
I just want to shout out to everybody we yomi. We had to hear how the Knicks wasn't going to do nothing from the time this regular season ended.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
Oh, oh, they not going to do nothing.
Jason Jolly
Oh, Atlanta.
Boost Mobile Advertiser (Alternate)
Atlanta.
Jason Jolly
OG and an OB we going to run them. Can we run that clip in the clip. OG ain't going to do nothing. Harsh. Josh Hart ain't going to do.
King
Josh Hart didn't do shit.
Jason Jolly
He did do shit. He don't got it. He's not there to be to score 20 points a game.
King
He's there to be the glue. I'm there to Gatorade.
Ray Porter
Tyler.
Jason Jolly
He the champion. He is Hell yeah.
Mandy B.
Champion, Tyler.
King
Champion Gatorade.
Jason Jolly
You know what I'm saying?
Mandy B.
Now hold on. We have our resident Knicks fan, but we also have our resident hater. Yes, the king of headlines, Jason Jolly.
Jason Jolly
And he be cooking still boy every minute.
Mandy B.
No, no, no, baby, hold on.
Jason Jolly
It's going more.

The bigot bots are crazy.

No, they're outside.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, it's bad. And programming issues.
Mandy B.
Hold on. I don't know. But we've never. So I get our culture and the discourse between like things within our culture. Right Again, Drake. Makes sense.
King
People are gonna try Jay Z line
Jason Jolly
music or swap culture sh.
Ray Porter
Pop culture.
Mandy B.
But babe, y' all know we get into politics over here and they found us. They found us.
King
They found us.
Mandy B.
You telling. Which I guess I didn't in the moment. I know. I was thinking if roles were reversed, which you would think. And again, y', all, this is our clip around the Carmelo Anthony trial not being fair because there were no black people present in the jury. But your solution was telling black people to lie that they don't wanna send black people to jail, which in fact
Jason Jolly
triggered these bigotballs, AKA staying on code, which they do all the fucking time.
King
All the time.
Jason Jolly
That's what he's Talking about.
Mandy B.
And so that's kind of like the hypocrisy of.
King
Very much so.
Mandy B.
Like, they were really upset with knowing that we as black people want to see black people not go to hey,
King
man, Malcolm X as saying.
Mandy B.
What's the saying?
King
By any means necessary. That's the code.
Jason Jolly
And he also talked about. There's a clip I was watching over last couple of days that resonated where he talked about. I should have sent it to you guys in the group where he talked about the victim blaming shit. You know what I'm saying? And this is their behavior. This is their pattern.
King
And it's funny to me because the thing that they were angry about was the fact that this isn't about race. This isn't about race. This isn't about race. Well, I'm like, if it's not about race, then why is the jury all white?
Jason Jolly
Also you have.
King
Why is there no balance whatsoever in this case if it's not about race?
Jason Jolly
And what about his father, Austin's father coming out, he called all kind of watermelon.
Mandy B.
He called him a melon monkey.
Jason Jolly
He didn't just come up with that in the moment. He's been saying that shit.
King
He's been saying that shit for years.
Jason Jolly
And them kids heard that shit.
Mandy B.
A watermelon felon.
Jason Jolly
Crazy.
Mandy B.
If you believe that your family got the justice that you felt like you did, there's no need for you to go on that. The random bigotry, then be happy. It was disgusting.
King
And he even tried to play the role, and you could tell he almost told. Well, he did kind of tell her.
Jason Jolly
He pulled up some weird statistics about the baby. The absent father.
King
Yeah, the absent father. But when.
Jason Jolly
Oh, yeah, he was.
King
But you can. Here's the thing, though. When the shit first happened and people were reacting to the news of this young boy, young black boy killing a white boy, there was a whole thing about basically black fatigue and white people. And he made a public statement about, hey, I don't support that. That's not what I'm about. Like, this isn't about that. Whoopty, whoopty, whoopty, whoop. Because he was trying to keep it cool for the public perception of the trial. As soon as he got what he wanted, he got right back into the regular bag and started talking all the same exact shit that they were talking before the trial because he didn't want to taint the jury.
Mandy B.
If y' all want to just see the type of country we live in, go to the clip where we discussed the jury within the Carmelo Anthony trial. And the comments, like, I had to tell Jon, like, what part of the algorithm did you take us into? It was kind of crazy. Now, I don't want to do too much Carmelo Anthony child talk now. Cause we're starting off with sports.
King
We are starting off with sports.
Mandy B.
We're starting off with sports. And we'll talk about just the ignorance altogether. Throughout this whole last week and a half.
Jason Jolly
Really, we could just talk about how dope the Knicks is.
Mandy B.
I mean, okay, but there's an ignorance
Boost Mobile Advertiser (Alternate)
that has
Jason Jolly
16 and three in the postseason.
Mandy B.
I mean.
Jason Jolly
I mean, you talking about the societal. Here's the catch 22 on that. Niggas do that shit. Regardless if the Knicks was in the playoffs, niggas be doing shit every day. When you got the element of content creation, everybody got a fucking camera. Everybody looking for clout. These are the elements that are gonna happen. Niggas had to put a dummy bus in the city just so, nigga, fuck it up.
Mandy B.
Oh, that was the dummy.
Jason Jolly
That was the word. That was the word that was put there just so they can fuck it up.
Mandy B.
You know what's crazy?
Jason Jolly
Which is crazy? That means my mom called me.
Mandy B.
Cause she knew that I was in New York last week. And she's like, oh, my God, Amanda, did you see the bus get caught on fire? Like, were you there? I said, mom, do you know how big the fucking city is? I wasn't on the block with the burning bunny.
Jason Jolly
When you look at the bus burning, right? It's kind of contained. It's not like it looked like they just like, oh, yeah, go fuck that up. And they was like, yeah, we gonna
King
fuck this up for two hours. They figure, like, it's cheaper for us to fuck up this bus than to have to pay the repairs that it would take to do.
Jason Jolly
But Mandy said it in the last episode.
Mandy B.
What?
Jason Jolly
Unfortunately, a lot of us are kind of on.
A King
Oh, yeah.
Jason Jolly
So they're catering to the people. It's like a bored kid that, like, don't know what to do. Like, I gotta destruct some shit.

everyone, it's Kal Penn. I'm the host of Irsay The Audible and iHeart Audiobook Club. This week on the podcast, I am sitting down with Ray Porter, the narrator of Andy Weir's audiobook producer project Hail Mary. Massive sci fi adventure about survival and science and what happens when you wake up alone very far from Earth.
Ray Porter
I really had to make a decision because I caught myself getting that frog in my throat and starting to get teary as I'm narrating some of these sections and it's like, okay, yo yo yo, is this indulgent? And I really thought about it. I was like, no. At this point it would kind of be betraying the trust the author and the listener have in telling this story if I don't go through it. But there's places in this book that that deeply emotionally affected me and I left it on the mic. That's great because it served the story. People will say like oh my God, I cried at the end. Price void in Florida so last week I was in New York. I had my sold out live show at Sony Hall.
Jason Jolly
Oh, we got to.
Mandy B.
Hello. Thank you. Thank you.
Jason Jolly
And it was the best one ever.
Mandy B.
It was definitely our best show that we've ever had. Y' all my jokes landed, so I will be adding comedian to my slashes.
King
Babe.
Mandy B.
I was funny. I had my set okay. I got the laughs. It was great. Everything was good. But so was up there for that. But landed on Monday. Cause we had. We did Hot 107. Hot 97. Sorry. 179 is the one I work at here in Atlanta. So we did Hot 97 mornings with Mero Kaz, Shout out to Jason. We're recording this, by the way, today. It's Tuesday, so y' all are getting this, you know, right here. But because we were doing Hot 97 on Tuesday, I went in Monday, so landed. Went straight to a watch party. Went straight to the city and watched the game. No, earn your leisure was game four. I'm talking about game three Monday night. Got to catch game three. Oh, so she's two. Yes. Both in New York, baby. That's what I'm saying. It was great.
King
Yellow pads, orange and blue pass.
Mandy B.
Now game three. Game three, they lost. But it was a good game. It was a good game. It was good to be in the energy. Shout out Edgar, Nick, Storm, all the guys. Hino, like, literally all my people from my first week when I moved to New York, I got to see them, so that was great. So got to watch it. Then had my live show on Tuesday, Wednesday, game four. Oh, my goodness. So somehow the world made it happen. The universe aligned. Where a king and yomi pulled up to New York. So we all go. Earn your leisure. Shout out to Troy and Rashad. They had a watch party.
Jason Jolly
Shout out to Eyl.
Mandy B.
So we go to this. To this venue. Wasn't a great venue, but nonetheless, the energy was in the fucking room.
King
I can only imagine, bro.
Jason Jolly
It was a lot of mixy shit happening.
Mandy B.
It was real mixy.
Jason Jolly
And you know what I thought, right? Cause it was like, you go in, and the first level, the general public, shit, it was packed.
Mandy B.
No, no, no. Ga. And I was like, I know this other party.
Jason Jolly
And you go upstairs, it's extension of the ga. But then there's the Illuminati room.
King
You know what I'm saying?
Jason Jolly
That's where the private was at. You know what I mean?
Ryan Reynolds
Right?
Mandy B.
Oh, no, no, no, no. When I say, like, real New Yorkish, like, basic, like, Al Harrington was there. Darrell Revis. So you have jets players, you have former NBA players.
Jason Jolly
You got some other people there.
Ray Porter
Too.
Mandy B.
Yeah. We ain't got to say them. But it was.
Jason Jolly
Yo, tell my cars aligning. We'll talk about that off mic. But, yeah.
King
Wait, not pizza.
Jason Jolly
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
King
I was gonna say damn.
Jason Jolly
Nonetheless, another wannabe. Another one of
Mandy B.
the game starts happening. I think third quarter, mind you, by third quarter, it's hot. It's hot in this spot. I'm a little miserable.
Jason Jolly
And then the bartender was.
Mandy B.
The bartender.
Ryan Reynolds
Ass.
Charlemagne Tha God
Ass.

No, no, no, no, no, no. So bad. Hold on. Me and yomi like, no. Or it was ak. AK Comes up to me and is like, this is giving Atlanta service. And I don't understand.
Jason Jolly
I did.
King
It was one bartender for a.
Jason Jolly
One bartender for a whole private party.
Mandy B.
And for the ga.
Jason Jolly
Right. He was frustrated, but it's like, don't be frustrated with us. Be frustrated with yourself.
King
Be frustrated with management, because how you don't know that this is gonna be a zoo in here and you need
Mandy B.
to have nasty work. Nasty work. Nonetheless, it gets the third quarter, I think they're down by, like, 29.
Yomi
Mandy was such a negative Nancy, bro. I was. I was like, mandy, shut the fuck up.
Mandy B.
Cause I'm like. I'm like, well, because, A, it's hot. B, I get overstimulated. And the sound system, man, nothing to do.
Yomi
The sound system.
Jason Jolly
The sound system was bad, bro.
King
It's one of the ones that's crackles and crunches.
Jason Jolly
You know what it was? It was controllable, but they never controlled it. They just let the shit be, like. Just let the shit die.
Yomi
The speakers were cooked.
Mandy B.
The speakers were done. So it's that. It's that I'm in heels. There's nowhere to sit. You was in heels, And I don't do that. I know. I was so short.
Jason Jolly
Yeah. No, no, no, no. I'm just saying. Why would you choose heels amongst. Cause first off, as a woman, you're not scared that somebody might step on your foot?
Mandy B.
No. No one thinks that when they wear heels. Niggas.
Jason Jolly
Niggas think that when they wear shoes.
Mandy B.
Oh. But no, I don't think that.
King
I don't think she thought she was at Atlanta Hawks game and not at a Knicks game.
Charlemagne Tha God
Don't do that.
Jason Jolly
That's why I was like, man, Tim.
Kal Penn
Yeah.
Jason Jolly
The girls with Tim.
Charlemagne Tha God
Right?
Jason Jolly
Yeah.
Mandy B.
Nonetheless, we get to experience what I feel to be probably the best two and a half minutes of a NBA Pandemonium Finals, like, moment. Mind you, we're in a room. I'M in New York. We've been down the whole game. So we're just like you said.
Jason Jolly
I love that.
Mandy B.
No, continue on. The Knicks are down, like, the whole game. And the room is, like, optimistic.
Jason Jolly
It was cautiously optimistic. Cautiously, yeah. Like you could feel like, damn.
King
It wasn't full dejection. Like, people weren't.
Jason Jolly
No, no, but you had, like, me. That was like.
Mandy B.
But.
King
But also waited.
Jason Jolly
It's not done.
Mandy B.
Game three, they lost. And so this is like, in their true heart of hearts. They were like, we're not losing two games at home.
King
At home.
Mandy B.
This is New York. Mind you, everyone is like, we only lost game three. Cause Trump was there. You know what I mean?
King
Yeah, I think that was the general.
Mandy B.
The consensus was that Trump ruined the virus.
King
He fucked up the vibe.
Mandy B.
He fucked up the vibe. Nonetheless, the last two and a half minutes. Oh, they inching away. It get down to, like. It get to like, 15 points, 11 points, nine points.
Jason Jolly
Mind you, it went to seven and five, then back to seven. I'm like, okay, it's not still. We still right now.
Mandy B.
Mind you, in the third quarter, towards the end, I was like, telling, like, let's just go to another bar. Like, I hate the sound system. I'm so hot. And my boyfriend's like, you want a drink? Let's just go to the like, yeah, yeah, nigga, I'm just gonna get you to drink.
King
The shop, all that shit was shut the fuck up.
Nissan Advertiser
Right?
Jason Jolly
Yeah.
Mandy B.
So he literally. He's like. He's like, bitch, you want a drink? Let's just go to the bar and get you a drink. So he gets me and yomi a drink and we just get there. And mind you, this is a king. Like, a king. At this point, my man's older. Like, he's just a silent giant. He's like, yes. Like, you just see him.
King
Like, you try to keep it together.
Mandy B.
So I'm looking at everyone kind of keep it together until those final, like, two and a half minutes. Those final two and a half minutes.
Jason Jolly
Sweet.
Mandy B.
Every bucket made. It's like grown men hugging and embracing each other. And just, like, world peace.
Jason Jolly
Happy Friday.
Mandy B.
No, no, no. I feel like a king. Almost jump a man's arms. And he, like, almost held.
Jason Jolly
I did all of that.
Yomi
We're, like, running back and forth.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
Oh, yeah.
Jason Jolly
I was. I was high five, everybody, bro. I was in there, like, good job, good job, good job, good job.
King
He started.
Mandy B.
He started doing sprints. He started going. He. He started. Hold on. You know when you touch the floor, what's the Thing called suicide. That was a kid. He started doing suicides back and forth through the goddamn venue.
King
That's hilarious.
Mandy B.
So it gets to the final second, and when I tell you I think everyone kept their breath. Heart stopped. Those last seconds when he tipped the ball in.
Jason Jolly
OG Anunoby.
Mandy B.
No, like og. Og OG and when I say the celebration after that went in, probably lasted a good five to eight minutes, I bet. Straight, like chaos, pandemonium.
Jason Jolly
And then were you able to see some of the other videos of people outside or.
Mandy B.
Then we went outside and you look
Jason Jolly
at the moments that they went off to at the same time. It's like we just had this collective energy.
Mandy B.
Yes.
Charlemagne Tha God
Yeah.
Jason Jolly
You know what I mean? It was a beautiful thing.
Mandy B.
It was a beautiful thing. Then we stayed out in the city because after the game we can't just leave. So we're literally like in the city screaming. We see the Empire State Building is freaking blue and orange. We're all taking pictures with the building in the back. Like, then we're just high fiving all these strangers because they're just screaming and yelling like banshees. And we end up going downtown. A king is mixing. Didn't know a king is mixing. He's like, yo, I know the owner of this bar. So we head down to the Lower east side, allegedly. And it was.
Jason Jolly
That was Kingsley. That was a king.
King
That was Kingsley.
Mandy B.
Kingsley is crazy. No, it was like, it was beautiful to be in the city and just
King
feel it in that moment.
Mandy B.
Because, mind you, and I've said this, so when I first moved to New York, my first three years in New York, I bartended.
King
Okay.
Mandy B.
So to me, I've been a part of, like, just Knicks chaos.
King
Yeah, right.
Charlemagne Tha God
Yeah.
Boost Mobile Advertiser (Alternate)
Yeah.
Mandy B.
Really. Not too much football. Like Sundays during the pandemic, actually, when they used to put the TVs and stuff outside, I used to go to the West Village. Like, loved that.
King
But the jets and the Giants have.
Mandy B.
The jets and Giants. Like, but Knicks.
King
But Knicks basketball is different.
Mandy B.
Knicks basketball is just one of the. You don't get it unless you get it.
Jason Jolly
Right?

Yeah.
Mandy B.
And I did want to see them crash out with an L. I know I said spurs and six, but I think that this was the fun.
King
Was more fun than the crash. So much better.
Jason Jolly
You know, it's funny, when you asked, would you prefer to come back and win it at home or win it? I felt like we had that emotional moment with game four.
A King
Yeah, right.
Jason Jolly
It was there. That felt like going to San Antonio and just bring it home. And I'm glad You know, I'm glad they did.
Mandy B.
I'm glad they did. I'm glad they did. It was nice. It was really.
King
Well, you know what's funny?
Mandy B.
I will say, though, Atlanta is ass. So after experiencing game three and four in New York, it's game five. I'm, like, telling my friends, I said, where the watch party's at? There were none. There were none.
Jason Jolly
Somebody sent me. They said they might do a mini Nick parade in Atlanta for all the New Yorkers that can't make it.
Guest
Well, so.
King
I know.
Jason Jolly
So that's when I was like, yo, we might as well do a tour like a parade.
King
It would. The invasive species that y' all are. It would not surprise me at all if we.
Jason Jolly
Everywhere. They trying to block out area code zip codes of people who purchase tickets. That is not going to work. That didn't work.
Mandy B.
That was crazy to me.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, that started in. In. In Philadelphia, right?
Mandy B.
Philly.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, Philly was.
Mandy B.
Philly was doing.
Jason Jolly
They were saying they were doing it
King
the first year this happened because didn't it happen?
Jason Jolly
No.
King
Last year. Last year, Right. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Because I remember hearing that, like, people were in certain area codes were only able to get tickets for playoff games and all that kind of shit.
Jason Jolly
Guess what? All they gotta do. Hello, Nick fans, here's what you do for next year. Get virtual addresses for your business, you know what I mean? And just order it through the business in that area code. That's fair.
Charlemagne Tha God
Boom.
Jason Jolly
I mean, that zip code.
King
You know the funny part, though, I thought that as somebody who's not from New York, in my mind, I knew people loved the Knicks. I knew they was Knicks fans, but I always thought New York was a Yankee city.
Jason Jolly
City.
King
I thought the Yankees, like, stirred the drink in New York. Yankees are good, then the city is happy. And if the Yankees are bad, partially,
Jason Jolly
I would say they're accustomed to the Yankees having success even if they don't make the World Series. They've made many, so many pennants and all that. If they didn't make it for the next 30 years, it's like, all right, they still in a surplus of winning the championship. So it's like you. You've grown accustomed to that. But I'm a Mets fan because, you know, I keep it consistent.
Guest
Fair enough.
Jason Jolly
Unfortunately, we don't have as much success as the Yankees. But it is a Yankee town in terms of baseball.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
Right.
Jason Jolly
And then you have your Jets, Giants, which is kind of six, seven.
Guest
Yeah.
Jason Jolly
And then it's the Knicks.
Mandy B.
Well, I'll tell you.
Jason Jolly
And when the New Jersey Nets came, I was about to say.
Mandy B.
When I say everyone rejects the Nets.
Jason Jolly
Yeah.
King
I don't feel like some of these
Jason Jolly
rappers, though, don't get it twisted. Not Jay Z, because at least he had a situation. But some of them. I'm from Brooklyn, right? Right. But I never drink. I was like, ain't no way.
King
But they didn't get in with my.
Jason Jolly
So they went after Paul Pierce, and out the gate, I'm like, ah, shit, this is not gonna last.
Mandy B.
Yeah.
Jason Jolly
And now what, right? Yeah, now they do have opportunity, but, you know, we'll see.
Mandy B.
Yeah, no, it was. It was. It was. It was just.
Jason Jolly
It was a moment. Look, I would say, even if you're not a Knick fan and you was in New York City, or even if you have. Have the pleasure of going to the parade and just being around, the energy. Look, I said it before. This is a great distraction, you know? And I don't mean. There's just so much that's happening in society, that's weight that's weighing on us. You know, you got the war and the not war. The one day, the ceasefire, then it's not. You don't know. And then the gas prices continue to play around, economy is crazy. The plane tickets is out of this world.
Mandy B.
Yeah.
Jason Jolly
So it's like, at least we get this distraction. You got the World cup, which we'll get into. So I'm just thankful, man. Shout out to the New York Knicks. Shout out to yomi. Shout out to you and coming. I mean, look,
Mandy B.
this is my merch, babe. Don't fight it to me. And that's why I said, when I go out and people say, where you from? I say, new York.
Jason Jolly
Okay, okay.
Mandy B.
I'm a New Yorker at heart.
Jason Jolly
Like you said, the Floridian.
Mandy B.
No. So hear me out. So hear me out. So me and yomi, before. Before we started potting.
Yomi
4 9, Chapel City.
King
What happened to that?
Mandy B.
I mean, I'm still from that, too. And I'm also a New Yorker. You should have seen me. Hey, hey. When I was watching game five out here. I'm throwing up the X, baby. I was in the Bronx for eight years. Okay.
King
Like, y' all do Wu Tang in Florida, right? Y' all do the. Isn't that. Isn't that a dance or a song? Wu Tang. So I'm like, you can still kind of K Wang.
Mandy B.
K. Wang with it. K. Wang. It's K. Wang. That's kyah. I don't know a dance called the Wu Tang.
Yomi
I Showed you the last one.
Mandy B.
Yeah, I thought that was that called the Wu Tang, though.
King
I don't know what the song is called, but. Oh, yeah, I know they say. I thought I heard him say Wu Tang. That's why I was like, oh, yeah, I know.
Mandy B.
We jooked. We got the K Wing.
King
Like, I tell you what is tough, though. Like, the fact that Trump fucked up the vibe for Game three. And then it was like you had Wu Tang at halftime for Game four. And even though y' all was down, it was down 29 at halftime to have Wu Tang there and shout out to my man David Dennis, he said that. The last thing that they said on the mic, I think it was Met the man was Nixon five. And they're down 30 at halftime. So he says, Knicks in five leaving their performance. And I'm like, all right, so now y' all have the Woo game.
Jason Jolly
You know, I watched Jimmy Fallon last night.
King
Okay?
Jason Jolly
The Knicks was on Incredible Run tv. Oh, they're team from the Good Morning America joint.
King
They were probably sick of that shit, too. Cause I was like, listen, I didn't
Jason Jolly
know OG Listen, I had to do a deep dive. I was like, wait a minute. OG Been fooling us. That nigga be getting lit in his own bison without the cameras. Mikal Bridges was on his Insta live drinking shots of tequila. And I love that. I love that for them. They was on Good Morning America. They did Jimmy Fallon last night, and
Mandy B.
they did that with Coach Brown.
King
Oh, I saw that performance.
Jason Jolly
With Mike Brown.
Mandy B.
With Mike Brown, yeah.
Jason Jolly
Cause I was like, okay, this is gonna be Katt and Brunson. But it was like, no. They just did it in segments, by
Mandy B.
the way, for any New Yorker who did leave. I started off the pod with that clip because I have been looking up apartments in New York for the last week. I'm like, I gotta get the lottery. I gotta. Let me figure out how the hell I'm gonna move back to New York. And I realized it's just the fact that a New York summer.
King
Different kind of summer is.
Mandy B.
Pardon?
Boost Mobile Advertiser (Alternate)
Yeah.
Jason Jolly
We're gonna do the podcast in the Chicken Spot.
King
Listen, that would be dope.
Mandy B.
No, you don't understand me and yomi.

Mandy B.
And we realized because, mind you, I go to New York still once a

month for work,
Mandy B.
and it's only these months I wanna stay. Cause otherwise I go there if it's raining, if it's snowing, if it's cold, if it's windy. The weather there sucks. Any other time but the summer.
King
But when it's Nice out in Sunday in the summer.
Mandy B.
Mind you. I got friends inviting me to the layout. They're like, but the Puerto Rican Day parade is on Sunday. You not gonna stay. There's things happening every single day. And also, let me go ahead. And I'm not shouting out the ignorance of all y'. All. So the Rap about it podcast had a goddamn live show Thursday if y' all don't stop tagging me.
King
Oh, that's little person. And the funny part about it was when I dropped it in the chat, I wasn't even thinking about that.
Mandy B.
You dropped it in the chat.
A King
But hold on.
Guest
I be.
Mandy B.
I'm still getting tagged it. Look at the little full court pumps up on stage. Y' all calling me a little person, Cuz.
King
Cuz a little. A little.
Mandy B.
Look at me trying to be really even politically correct. This little person with a blonde, short hair, they be like, is that. Man, is that full court pumps?
King
Why Mandy over there on May no laugh.
Jason Jolly
Mini Mandy. Mini Mano Palme and mini Mandy. Butt cheek.
A King
Mini.
Narrator/Reporter
Mini B.
Mandy B.
That is not.
Jason Jolly
Mini B is great.
Mandy B.
That is not okay. But yeah, nonetheless. Congratulations to the Knicks. Congrats to all New Yorkers.
Guest
Congratulations.
Mandy B.
Who got to experience one of the best feelings, one of the best energies in New York in a long, long time.
King
And I'll say this before we move
Guest
on
King
Wemby's post Fuck him press conference cry. I like Wemby, but like. Like, that was real, like, bitch assness that like, poured out that nigga's soul.
Mandy B.
He said, I'll talk to you guys.
King
I'll talk to you guys later.
Jason Jolly
He's been on bullshit. He got an issue with Brunson, I think. Cause someone pointed out when Brunson scored 61 points against the spurs, you know, usually you get the game, you get the ball and you know, and he threw that shit in the fucking.
Mandy B.
I'll be honest. Okay, I noticed.
Jason Jolly
I think Shy Alexander and Brunson, he has an issue.
Mandy B.
It's funny too, because I've also seen clips of like his excitement beating okc. Well, no. And it's like, damn, not. This nigga really just wanted to beat Chet. Like, yeah, like that is what he wants.
Jason Jolly
His whole discographies, he become. He's becoming number two. Part. Number two in everything.
King
Everything.
Mandy B.
Yeah, to the other white boy.
King
But here's what I say. Even though I think what he did in the presser was some bitch assness, I do respect the fact that we have a basketball player who is a star player, who's gonna be a star in this league for a long time. Who doesn't like niggas? Like, we need that energy. Like, we're in the. We've been in the NBA for a little while now where everybody is.
Yomi
I'm okay with that.
Jason Jolly
But it's crybaby part is still a bitch ass.
Mandy B.
Wait, to me, it's not even the crybaby part as much as it's like the. And you know, they put it all together. He's playing dirty.
Jason Jolly
That's the point.
Mandy B.
And you can't.
King
But they. But they were doing him dirty too.
Jason Jolly
No, not like that, bro.
King
No, there's no like that. There's dirty and it's clean.
Jason Jolly
And they were.
King
They was doing some dirty shit to that, man.
Jason Jolly
They wasn't doing. They only started doing reckless shit because he was getting away with and had to do that shit, right?
King
No, they was doing reckless shit because that nigga is 75 and no one can stop him unless you hook him or grab his jersey or do something to him. Like that's what it's gonna be.
Jason Jolly
But they was doing that to Brunson, the Holt from game one.
King
I mean, that's competitive basketball.
Yomi
But.
Jason Jolly
But here's the thing. You don't gotta. First of all, you can't say competitive
Mandy B.
basketball when also he was like one flagrant away from.
Jason Jolly
And that's what they're protecting, like, because his ass should have got suspended.
Mandy B.
No, no, no.
Jason Jolly
And guess what? And guess what? No, it's.
Mandy B.
No, no, no.
Jason Jolly
Did you see the monkey he did when he jumped up in the air like a. And then he tried to step on a grown man. Not on his ankle, not on his. On OG's leg. He tried to.
Mandy B.
Like.
Jason Jolly
I'm like, yo, if he landed wrong, he could have tore his ace. They could have been wrong.
Mandy B.
And to me, we are in a place where he's setting up to be the next face of the league, right?
Jason Jolly
Which is also interesting.
Mandy B.
I don't know if they make it. French person.
Jason Jolly
If Popovich was coach, that professionalism would have been on display. I mean, Popovich is leadership, right? And this is no shots at the first year coach. But you can tell the energy is different. That's not San Antonio. Popovich is there. That's not happening.
King
Yeah, no, there's a lot of shit that's not happening. I mean, all those threes that they took to get y' all back in the game in Game 4, Popovich would have benched all of them niggas. I don't care how many points you got. He would have pawed the timeout and been like the next person to shoot a three in the next five minutes. You're not playing the rest of this game. Like we're up to. What the fuck are y' all doing?
Jason Jolly
Well, I'm speaking from a professionalism standpoint.
Charlemagne Tha God
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
King
No, Popovich is how you carry yourself, how you run the team in the league.
Jason Jolly
Now, what Wemby has done now is put a marker on his back 100%. Cause ain't nobody scared of that.
King
But I. But.
Jason Jolly
And I don't think scared of them other n with the locks too.
King
Probably not.
Jason Jolly
They gonna gun for that. You know who's the know who? The Harper. Dylan Harper. He's the that he needs to start next year.
King
He should. But Castle is tough, though.
Yomi
No, Castle is tough.
Mandy B.
Cavill's tough.
King
That's not no ass. He's six' seven, no cavalry. They're gonna have a team.
Yomi
But again, I prefer him over Wemby because he's actually just more digestible. Wemby's like so off putting to me.
King
Yeah.
Mandy B.
What makes him off putting?
Yomi
Maybe he might be just French.
King
It could be that.
Jason Jolly
Hey, don't say that. Outsiders already got a thing.
King
We ass nigga, croissant ass nigga, old motherfucking.
Mandy B.
Oh, Escargot.
King
Escargot, ass nigga. Fuck out of here.
Jason Jolly
I got some friends. But, oh, you Americans. I'm like, never.

But there's places in this book that that deeply, emotionally affected me and I left it on the mic. That's great because it served the story. People will say like oh my God, I cried at the end. Oh, I know what you about to say.
Mandy B.
The tiktoks of how many people didn't even know there was a soccer team for the US like they thought we were just hosting the World Cup.
King
Like we have no clout in the world.
Jason Jolly
Pardon your ignorance.
King
Yeah, we have no football clout in the rest of the world.
Mandy B.
Oh my God. Now that so FIFA World cup, the games have begun. And the way this girl was wearing an Atlanta a United Atlanta jersey and was like not Atlanta's playing. Like where is Atlanta? Isn't Atlanta playing in the World cup because she saw United, she didn't know it was United States, Right. Then there's people like, well, who's on the team? Wait, who is on the US Team? Anyways? They are playing, right?

Yes.

They smoked.

Mandy B.
But apparently Spain is, like, one of the best teams, and so it's a win for Cape Verde that they were able to keep them at zero and.
King
Keep it at zero.
Mandy B.
Keep it at zero. Zero. Australia.
King
Australia.

Oh, no, they're playing Friday. Australia.

Oh, so what's the bracket right now?

Oh, there we go.

Oh, Paraguay, Right.

That's what it was.
Jason Jolly
No, no, no. You had to say it like she said it.
Mandy B.
Paraguay.
King
Paraguay.
Mandy B.
No, see, Senegal. Final score. No. 2, 3, 2.
King
That was a friendly, though, wasn't it? Oh, is that a real match?
Mandy B.
No, that's made.
King
Cause they're winning.
Guest
They're winning.
King
No, they've only. They've only. They've played one. One, One.
Yomi
Yeah, they play Paraguay.
Mandy B.
Paraguay.
Ryan Reynolds
Paraguay.

Oh, yeah, they did, yeah. Cause then. Cause they're in a group D. Yeah. And they're only actually Paraguay. Oh, In Turkey.
Jason Jolly
Yeah.
King
So Australia and US Won both of their.
Yomi
Yeah, they're gonna smoke Australia today.
King
Yeah, I think so, too.
Mandy B.
If you guys are new here, we have an episode way back when it was Kaz and KC and we talked about race and sports. And so with the World cup now taking place in the US I do want to play this clip of this woman who shared what's happening right now with the US Hosting so many games and kind of what many people may not know is happening. Yomi, can you play the clip? Let's get into what's actually happening and why. This may be the worst World cup ever.
Narrator/Reporter
This is going to be one of the worst World Cups we've ever held in centuries. It hasn't started yet, but a lot has happened. In case you don't know, this is what has happened so far. Omar Artan, recognized as Africa's best referee, was denied entry into the United States at Miami International Airport. He held a diplomatic passport. He was set to become the first Somali to officiate at a World Cup. The reason? Vetting concerns. That's all they said. Vetting concerns. FIFA told him they couldn't do anything about it. They Sent him back to Istanbul.
Jason Jolly
Wow.
Narrator/Reporter
The Senegal national team arrived in San Antonio, Texas, and was searched on the airport tarmac, not inside a terminal. On the tarmac, players were forced to remove their shoes, open every bag, and get scanned with handheld metal detectors right after stepping off the plane. One player had the soles of his feet checked. This would never happen to a European team. The Uzbekistan team pulled up to Ikon Stadium in New York for a friendly against the Netherlands. They were forced to hand over their phones, empty their pockets, and go through full body metal detector scans. A sniffer dog was brought in to inspect their bags laid out on the ground. The Netherlands players walked right past. No screening, nothing. Iran had it worse. Several team members were denied us completely. They had to move their training base from Arizona all the way to Tijuana, Mexico. Now they have to commute across the border for every single match and leave the country immediately after. A US official actually said, and I quote, we will not allow the Iranian team to abuse this system to sneak terrorists into the United States under false pretenses. That's an official statement about a national soccer team. Iraq's star striker, Ayman Hussein, was detained and interrogated for seven hours at Chicago o'. Hare. Seven hours. While the rest of his team cleared immigration just fine, the team photographer was denied entry entirely and sent back home. South Africa's national team was grounded for 24 hours because at least 20 members of their traveling party still didn't have their US visas processed. Their assistant coach, team doctor, head of security, and performance analyst were all left behind. Japan, one of the most organized teams in the world, had to ditch their training site in Monterrey, Mexico, because the pitch was uneven, full of patches of dirt. They had to move twice in two days, first from Tigris UANL's facility, then from their backup field before finally landing at Club Monterey's ground. This is days before the tournament starts, and the fans, Senegal and Ivory coast, are on the US travel ban list. Dedicated supporters who traveled to Qatar 2022, who follow their teams everywhere, are now being told they can't come. An Ivory coast fan leader called it segregation. He said no European country has faced this kind of restriction. This is going to be one of the worst World Cup.
Jason Jolly
Well, can I tell you, dirty, dirty game.
Mandy B.
How embarrassing this is? No, it's embarrassing. Well, when I say embarrassing, it is embarrassing. We've been brainwashed. Well, we've been brainwashed and told that this is the best country in the world, that this country of the free, that this is. This is the standard we are apparently the standard. And to know that all of these countries with black and brown people are experiencing this level of discrimination, and it's disgusting. There's people in the comments that are literally saying that the US should not be able to host any world sport tournaments moving forward.
Jason Jolly
I think it's a reflection on what's happening with this administration. And this administration told us how they was gonna give it up when they got in there. Right? So I think when we say I get it, it's emotional, these emotional comments. And they're not wrong. It's just that, listen, it's reflective on where we at right now, bro. Like, it's fucked up a whole team. I wish there was a way that they could have learned that this was gonna happen or that there was gonna be some issues when they get abroad so they went out. That's a lot of money. It's a lot of money.
Mandy B.
I was gonna say, I don't think that these teams think that there's gonna be this issue because. Because the World cup not only brings so much, it's supposed to bring so much tourism. Tourism and stuff like that. You also have fans that are not being able to entertain.
Jason Jolly
And they've been waiting for this shit. They've been waiting, waiting, bro. Look at Atlanta. Atlanta's been preparing emotionally for this shit, bro.
Mandy B.
For four years. Well, no, probably longer than that. Cause they knew that we were gonna host. But to know that, literally just to know that you could go to Qatar now. Qatar, I will say they had the issues last World cup with gay. Like they were removing people that had like the gay pride shirts and lgbtq. So like there were issues in other countries hosting as well. But to know that our country specifically is having this many issues with this many different teams is like, it's embarrassing.
King
And the thing is, is that the World cup is usually. I mean, the last 10 World cup cities. So in 86, it was Mexico. 94 was here. 98, it was France. 2002, it was South Korea and Japan. 06, it was Germany.
Mandy B.
Right. Not 98, 96.
King
94 was here.
Mandy B.
94.
Charlemagne Tha God
There we go.
King
06 was Germany. 2010 was South America. 14 was Brazil. 18 was Russia. 22 was Qatar. All of these countries have their own socio political going on. And it's not this much of a cluster.
Mandy B.
We say it like Qatar, but it's actually cutter when you travel. I've been a cutter twice.
Jason Jolly
I never heard nobody say cutter because we're ignorant. It's not Qatar.
Mandy B.
It's like it's how you're supposed to say it.
King
It's like you watch, like, Al Jazeera,
Mandy B.
but it's not Qatar. We are.
King
Yeah, we're.
Jason Jolly
No, but they say Qatar because we're American.
Mandy B.
We're ignorant Americans.
King
If you watch Al Jazeera or other international news, they will say Cutter.
Mandy B.
Cutter. Look, the IM of our country. How y' all want to say your name? No, look, it's Cutter.
Jason Jolly
If BBC say it. Pause.

Look, see, I wanted to add something for the U.S. men's National Team. I wanted to add this. It's really, really funny that the scorers were kids of immigrants. Yeah, kids of immigrants. So it's like that whole. For the most part, like, they're Nigerian descent, Latino, and it's just a representation of what we are with the administration that is like, actively working.
Mandy B.
I mean, well, to be fair, not that I ever agree with him on anything, but so much so. Did you see that Trump came out and said we should change the name of football because football is soccer.
King
When you look at what has happened to football in the United States, again, soccer in the United States. We seem to never call it that because we have a little bit of a conflict with another thing that's called football. But when you think about it, shouldn't it really be called. I mean, this is football. There's no question about. We have to come up with another
Mandy B.
name for the NFL stuff.
King
It really doesn't make sense when you think about it. This is really football.
Mandy B.
It literally. No.
Guest
Football.
Mandy B.
Well, it's football.
King
We should. We should call it football or we should call it.
Mandy B.
No, we shouldn't. Our football should not be called football because.
King
Oh, because they. They put the.
Mandy B.
Yeah, football is. Is a global thing recognizing clearly that's.
Boost Mobile Advertiser (Alternate)
That's.
Jason Jolly
That's really.
Mandy B.
It's as ignorant as us calling football soccer.
Jason Jolly
But I would think he would do the reverse.
Mandy B.
He done came out with all.
Jason Jolly
Football should be changed. Cause he don't fuck with American football like that. Right?
Mandy B.
No.
Nissan Advertiser
Yeah.
Yomi
But like, football makes sense as, like, soccer.
Jason Jolly
Soccer, yeah.
Yomi
Cause it's like football, the NFL, calling that football. Like, you Only punt like you punts and field goals.
King
Two players that represent.
Jason Jolly
In which they were trying to get rid of.
Mandy B.
What would y' all rename football in America?
King
Handball.
Mandy B.
No. Cause handball is a.
Jason Jolly
You can't leave it to them to name it though. Cause they gonna fuck the whole shit up.
King
What would I call in America if it wasn't football? That's a good question.
Mandy B.
Brown ball is brown, but no.
Yomi
Field ball.
Mandy B.
Field ball.
King
Field ball. Field ball.
Mandy B.
Field ball.
King
Yeah. Field ball. Probably make a little bit more sense, cuz.
Mandy B.
Yeah. To call it football, you right. They only do it for field goals and to kick it.
King
Yeah. Because it's not.
Ray Porter
Yeah.
Yomi
When they punt it.
King
It's not. What's the. Why am I blanking out? What's the other. What's the. Not football, but what's the rugby. Rugby. Yeah. It's not like. Rugby is its own thing. So I don't know if there's like a name that you can call it that's not.
Mandy B.
I mean, I like what you said.
King
Yeah. Football makes more sense. Yard ball or some yard ball could work.
Yomi
Yeah.
Mandy B.
Because they come by yards, which is also crazy. That's not even our. Is that not our. That's not our system. Right. That's the metric.
King
No, yards. Yards is our system that we took from instead of like.
Mandy B.
Cause we don't do meters.
King
We don't do meters.
Jason Jolly
We don't have the method.
Mandy B.
So yardball. That's an American thing. Even our own. Yeah.
Jason Jolly
It don't sound too. It'll take a little time to get used to, but I don't think you lose anything.
Mandy B.
Yeah, I mean, do y' all plan on going to any of the games? I know you. You watched Urik. Why? Right? Ecuador.
Yomi
I watch all of them.
Mandy B.
You watch all of them? Okay. Ecuador. And your team won.
Yomi
No, they lost to Coast Ivory 1 0, 89th minute, which is like that last minute. It was actually a heartbreaking game.
King
That was yesterday's game.
Jason Jolly
So y' all are still in, right?
Yomi
Yeah, we're still in. We're gonna go through the group, but.
Jason Jolly
Yeah.
Yomi
Germany scored 7 1, which is crazy.
Mandy B.
Holy. Against who?
Yomi
They smoked.
Mandy B.
Oh, I ain't gonna hold you.
King
I don't.
Jason Jolly
Germany is lit like that.
Yomi
Yes, Germany is lit.
Mandy B.
Kudasao got a fine ass team. What if we gonna talk about how I'm watching God.
Nissan Advertiser
Football.
Mandy B.
I'm mad cause y' all done football, baby. These players kind of cute. That's. That's my algorithm of soccer is all the fine looking ones that done went under the radar so Long, because I've been following a couple of them, and now I'm mad at all the American bitches. See who I've been following for so long. Like. Like the Nigerian player for. I think it's. I think he's on the Nigerian team. Lil Light skin, he fine. And so all my friends been sending me him, and I'm like, bitch, I follow him two years ago. I've been there. I've been on this. You know what I mean?
Jason Jolly
And that nigga probably been in the penalty or some shit.
Mandy B.
Listen, I. Not Kuda style. They had some fine players.
King
I'm kind of surprised at that, though, Germany. Because I don't. I wouldn't have thought. I mean, I got.
Yomi
Germany's typically.
King
Germany is typically a good team.
Yomi
France and Spain are usually the favorite, though.
Mandy B.
Yeah, that's. And that's why. That's why it was.
Yomi
So Germany won the World Cup. I think maybe two World Cups ago, I think.
Mandy B.
But that's why last. That's why yesterday was so insane in Atlanta, because Spain. Spain. All I know is they. Because I ended up going out on Sunday. Y' all know my Sunday Funday. And babe, I'm meeting a whole bunch of foreigners outside. Now, Atlanta's not giving. Like, Atlanta is actually trying to push Atlanta people back into their homes to welcome all of the tourists. Like, it's very prevalent on what's happening.
Jason Jolly
And they got a whole convention center. What's the name of that center that's
King
on the Georgia World Congress Center.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, no.
Mandy B.
And CNN center doesn't open up. The Centennial Olympic park is a straight watch party. Downtown is literally nothing but people who travel.
Jason Jolly
I mean, when you go to Atlanta Airport, just people watch. You'll see what's happening.
Mandy B.
Yeah, people just coming in.
King
Also, let me bring up some old shit, too.
Jason Jolly
Uh oh.
King
Because, you know, there's all these people here that are for the World cup, and obviously there's some bullshit going on. But there are also a lot of video of European people coming to Atlanta and wanting to experience Atlanta things for the first time, making videos of. Oh, I went to Got Magic City Wings. And I went to Waffle.
Mandy B.
Oh, no, they in Magic City.
King
They did that shit. So a lot of people used to bring up some old shit for niggas from other places who think that Atlanta doesn't have no culture. The rest of the world seems to want to get a piece of this. And so, like, if y' all niggas want y' all andouille sausage and y' all etouffee and whatever the fuck y' all got going on.
Yomi
All right.
Jason Jolly
You ain't gotta be all you talking about the old boy, the commentary.
King
Niggas who don't understand. Yeah, yeah, niggas that don't understand what the fuck going on.
Mandy B.
Oh, I'm not gonna lie. I ran into a guy from Montreal and he wanted to know where to go for food. And I didn't send him anywhere with lemon pepper. I said, you have to go to Houzz Steakhouse. So house is.
King
Houzz is a staple of it.
Mandy B.
Oh, Howes is a staple of Atlanta.
King
All I know is Howes has been open 30, 40 years.
Mandy B.
So he was like 10 out of 10.
King
Fantastic experience.
Mandy B.
When I say the best service.
King
Yes.
Mandy B.
And he's like someone who's been in service for like. He said thank you for recommending it to me. He loved and then literally went from Houzz to Magic City last night.
King
There you go.
Jason Jolly
You know, it's funny, one of my colleagues, Internet, she's on the radio iheart, she had put on her insta her stories that, you know, Atlanta food is to be desired. Like the restaurants. And I'm like, damn, another one. And I'm like, yo, that's the one thing Atlanta gotta get their shit together.
Ray Porter
Together.
Jason Jolly
I think if you go to somebody house, you gonna get good food. It's valid cookers, they cook in the house, but this, the restaurant outside.
King
I. I don't know if I agree. I think if you go again, if you go to the grass walls and neon signs, then yeah, you're gonna get some.
Mandy B.
I'm not gonna lie.
Jason Jolly
I don't like grassing over the other.
King
I don't fuck with none of them spots. Like, God bless our people.
Jason Jolly
The only thing you don't want, lemon
Mandy B.
pepper wings and lamb chops. And then you.
King
That's why I know salmon bites.
Mandy B.
And as you bring the food to your mouth, you're gonna inhale someone else's hookah smoke.
Yomi
What's that spot that you gu the dinner for breakfast?
Mandy B.
I love that. So. And it's black owned shout out. State Market 44.
King
Oh yeah, State Market 44.
Mandy B.
That's the only place, the only grass wall. That standby.
Jason Jolly
Yes.
King
Good service in there. Good food in there.
Mandy B.
But also it's expensive.
King
It's expensive. You gonna definitely pay. You definitely gonna pay. But if you want to get the good food, unfortunately, you just gotta go to Kevin Rathbuns or KR Steak Bar or go to Spa and Divots or go to other places.
Mandy B.
I'm not gonna give all my. All my spot out.
Jason Jolly
Bleep. All of this shit out. All of it. None of you. Nick Knives running up where we go.
Mandy B.
Nick Knives is crazy.
King
You can't. Unfortunately, there's just not a lot of them trendy, viral.
Jason Jolly
You think the reality TV culture contributed to the grass walls and beyond?
King
Yeah, 100%. I think the Real Housewives of Everywhere and all of that shit is like, okay, they go there loving hip hop and all of that shit. They make it seem like those are the places you're supposed to go when you come here. And I'm like, no, you have to go to like actual restaurants that have Michelin star. There's multiple Michelin star restaurants.
Mandy B.
So that's the thing.
King
Gourmand restaurants.
Mandy B.
I'll be honest with you. And this is gonna be an ignorant take of mine.
Jason Jolly
Okay, okay, let's get it.
Mandy B.
You know how they say white people don't season their food?
Narrator/Reporter
Mm.
Mandy B.
Well, in Atlanta, if you are someone who actually is world traveled, if you are someone who has experienced good food,
King
who appreciates culinary delights,
Mandy B.
the goddamn seasoning here in Atlanta will put you. Big mama, your arm.
King
Yeah, yeah.
Mandy B.
Why the fuck. It's just so salty. And if you think about the Southern cuisine, specifically for African American, that's how big. No shit, Big mama, your arm, it's gonna cut it off.
Jason Jolly
She know how. But.
King
But at a cost.
Mandy B.
But if you think about what we consider our cuisine, you think of soul food.
King
Yeah.
Mandy B.
And unfortunately, soul food is something that should not be eaten every day.
King
Hell no.
Mandy B.
It should be eaten holidays.
King
Our ancestors used to be able to eat it every day because they were getting actual food. Like who knows what the fuck we getting now.
Mandy B.
And it's just like the amount of seasoning, the amount of sugar, the amount
King
of cholesterol, high blood pressure that goes
Mandy B.
into the food down here makes it terrible.
King
Yeah, but that's what I'm saying. They just did. They just were here. I don't know if it was earlier this year or late last year. The Michelin people, they just gave out. Multiple Michelin stars, multiple gourmands for multiple restaurants all around the city. It's just not them. Grass wall places. Yeah, you got to go. Where?
Jason Jolly
I remember I went to Barney's one time.
Kal Penn
Yeah.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
Breakfast.
King
Yeah, I'm not.
Mandy B.
That is. First off, if you go into anywhere and they have Sir Davis drinks because Beyonce.
King
Yeah, I'm not doing.
Mandy B.
They have a thousand dollar. Don't they have like the gold plated chicken.
King
Gold plated chicken. 24 karat gold fil and all that.
Yomi
Have y' all been to Bomb Biscuit?
Kal Penn
Huh?
King
Where is that at?
Yomi
I don't know, but it's here. Michelin Star.
Jason Jolly
So, you know, you walk in, you see the. What you call it, the, you know, the bed, the back, the. The bed board with the cushion and they got the little squares.
King
Yeah, yeah, the quilted.
Jason Jolly
I saw that as a booth. I said, oh, no, no, this ain't.
Yomi
It's like cabbage town.
King
Oh, cabbage town. Oh, yeah. I was gonna say private. Hold on.
Mandy B.
It's the grass walls, the neon sign and the velvet booth.
King
Velvet booths and all that. Yeah, all that dumb shit like, listen, man, save your money and just get good ingredients.
Jason Jolly
I like the food courts in Atlanta.
King
Oh, yeah, there's a lot of. Yeah, there's a lot of food halls popping up now. Places. And the one shit, the one year.
Jason Jolly
Yo, the food hall thing, that concept is kind of popping up in Charlotte. It's popping up in other ethnic cities and it's quite interesting.
King
Yeah.
Mandy B.
And I will say,
Jason Jolly
you need to save this whole thing.
King
Yeah. Fishmongers, fire, Tico.
Mandy B.
I've been to some of these. But going even back to. And I wanna be clear too, not just making it a black cuisine thing, because Tatiana in New York is literally elevated Caribbean food. And it's so good. So soul food. Caribbean food can be like high quality, high end.
King
Absolutely.
Mandy B.
It's just not down here, babe.
Jason Jolly
The Caribbean food down here is fake patois.
Mandy B.
Fake patois.
Yomi
What?
Jason Jolly
I need real Caribbean people.
King
The niggas from the east side are gonna definitely dox you for that.
Jason Jolly
They could. I'll say this the one. The ones that have been to, not the ones that have an experience. So I won't put a blanket on everybody. I haven't yet to experience it yet.
King
So if you're listening, I'm going to take you to a spot with me.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
Like, let me.
Jason Jolly
Let us know where it's at so we can pull up.
Mandy B.
Please let us know.
Jason Jolly
Cuz. The ones that's next to like the gas station and they got the gates on it. Whatever. I'll be a little concerned.
King
Like, I don't know, you know, Let us know.
Mandy B.
Well, let's get into. This is America, guys.
Jason Jolly
This is America.
Mandy B.
Let's just do all politics right now. Let's get right into the verdict. So y'. All. The jury rejected the self defense and sudden passion arguments and returned with a guilty verdict after deliberating for less than three hours. I wanna note that as well. Now, this high profile trial sparked intense Protests outside of the courthouse with Anthony's family and supporters publicly raising concerns, of course, which we talked about, the racial bias and jury selection. Trial judge John Roach defended the fairness of the proceedings, including his controversial decision to ban cameras in the courtroom, which I also wanna discuss because we unfortunately only have the transcripts to go by. So we're not able to even see how people, you know, mind you, we were just able to see other trials recently. I think banning cameras in this courtroom keeps us from really seeing what the jury experienced in terms of they've been
Jason Jolly
empowered to do so of the people
Mandy B.
who the witnesses we could see if they dropped, if the witnesses dropped the ball, we would be able to see the passion or if there was hiccups like I think body language and how people describe things, their emotions is very important and does touch to juror kind of decision making, you know what I mean? So I think banning the cameras in this courtroom to me is another way in which we as a community did not get fairness and to see what the proceedings of this trial was. Carmelo Anthony is only, I believe, 19 years old now. He was tried as an adult. He is receiving 35 years, which means he won't be able to seek parole until 17 years.
Narrator/Reporter
17 years.
Mandy B.
He's gonna serve at least 17.
King
Now we should be noted that they've decided. They have. They are going to appeal.
Mandy B.
Yes, they are going to appeal.
King
They are going to appeal. We'll find out how that plays out. I'm trying to find a clip of this video.
Jason Jolly
This is where they need the support of the community. You see Kyle Rittenhouse when he shot them people.
Mandy B.
He did. He got a lot of hope.
Jason Jolly
And that wasn't self defense. That's what them GoFundMe was looking like.
King
Yep, big, big.
Jason Jolly
And they priming him to be a politician.
Mandy B.
But let's be very clear. There has been a GoFundMe set up up and I think it received about $400,000 if I'm not mistaken.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
I think that's right.
Mandy B.
And unfortunately that GoFundMe set up, we saw. We didn't get to talk about it the last time we discussed this, but tmz, I think. Oh no, it was the New York Post. The New York Post decided to write a disgusting article about the way in which Carmelo Anthony's family lives. Speaking of the amount of cars the family has, speaking of the home that they reside in.
Jason Jolly
And they're very consistent.
Mandy B.
They were insinuating that the GoFundMe money is now affording them this luxurious Lifestyle. It's disgusting. It shows that this trial was, in fact, very racially biased the entire time, including with the media. And I did come here and say, I do believe he was guilty. I do believe, however, 35 years is extreme and is not fair. And I wanted to bring up, too, in terms of how we view justice in this country. A white Georgia man decided to open fire on a black family reunion in which he was able to be released on a $5,000 bond. And I'm not sure what's following this, but he's not being tried at all with attempted murder, which is essentially what this is.
Jason Jolly
There were 20 children there.
King
Yeah. Or a hate crime.
Mandy B.
Or a hate crime.
Jason Jolly
Thankfully, that family had some marines up in that mud that pulled out. They blicky and blicky. And he got blicked.
King
Yep.
Guest
He did.
Jason Jolly
You know he got blicked, right?
King
While having body armor on. He still got.
Mandy B.
No, no.
Jason Jolly
He went back to the crib.
Ray Porter
No.
Mandy B.
AR15.
Jason Jolly
He was telling to kill niggas.
King
Yeah. Yep.
Jason Jolly
Now, what if he had to kill one of them kids?
Mandy B.
Right?
King
Right.
Jason Jolly
What would have been the justifiable action for that?
King
And the thing I wish I could find.
Mandy B.
I do want to say his name, by the way, if y' all want to look into this case, is Jeffrey Kinzer. I'm hoping that we get more information.
Jason Jolly
He's a fireman.
Mandy B.
Chief, it says that he did get into an argument with some of the people at the reunion, then left, and he ended up coming back. He did. This is where I'm confused. Why? It's not a hate crime. Not only was he talking junk, he did use the N word in the conversation before leaving and coming back with an AR15 and body armor opening fire into the crowd. Now, Kinser was arrested, and after he was discharged from the hospital, and then again, he was let out on a $5,000 bond. Now, the Lee County Sheriff's Office says that more charges are pending. So this is one of those cases. Again, we have to be able to. We have to talk about it. There has to be more conversation, cuz. Hopefully a king. You're shaking your head.
Jason Jolly
No, no, no. The pending charges is how. How can we make it a little bit more appetizing to this. To the. To the masses, but not, as you
King
know, to keep it. Keep them at bay for a little bit.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, just to keep them at bay. Keep everybody quiet. Right. And then, you know, kind of go under the radar.
King
Yeah, I want. I want to see those.
Jason Jolly
Don't tell me he going to be in Prison.
King
Yeah, I want to see.
Mandy B.
But again, bringing in race out on a 5k bond, you have Carmelo Anthony that just got 35 years of.
Jason Jolly
And there's more detail still coming out about Carmelo Anthony.
Yomi
There is.
Jason Jolly
As it relates to the two brothers and the friends. And where's that video? There's a video.
Mandy B.
There's a video. And I don't understand how they got to see the video in court and it's not been released to the public.
King
The only thing we saw was a
Jason Jolly
still image of the tent. You see the niggas? That's it.
King
And they had. I wish I could find this video. I don't know where it's at, but there was a. There was a guy explaining he saw the video. In the video, he's saying he saw the video. I don't know if he was a juror or what his position was, but he said he saw the video and he said that it shows Carmelo sitting there, it shows the brother come up. It shows his metcalf come up, his brother come up and other white teammates come up to him and basically are surrounding him in a situation where it's clear that they are accosting him in some kind of way. And he could. It would have been obvious that there would have been some fear that, oh shit, all these people are about to whoop my ass.
Mandy B.
Did you also. Did you see as well the black man who just got sentenced to 45 years for stealing Legos?
Jason Jolly
Yeah, yeah.
Mandy B.
Apparently he. There was a. He had a. Even the way the article wrote it was like this man had a 50 day scheme to steal Legos across. So he was caught stealing these Legos and they gave him 45 years.
King
No one died.
Mandy B.
No one died.
King
He didn't kill anybody.
Jason Jolly
No one took Legos. And he was trying to be creative with it too. It wasn't like he was.
Mandy B.
I don't know, it's weird because I don't.
Jason Jolly
This is.
Mandy B.
How do we seek justice in this country?
Jason Jolly
You need to. People need to vote.
Guest
Vote.
Mandy B.
Okay.
Jason Jolly
That's just. It's very simple. Like we can't. We keep going at local elections. Local elections. Local elections. And you see they're putting all the stops out to stop local elections. Right. Or, or to have it swing in their favor. Right?
King
Yep.
Jason Jolly
There's a reason for that because they see it. They know once people get galvanized, the first thing they're going to do is say, all right, who is going to. Who's going to be in my district, my county? That's Going to affect me directly. That answers to them. The more people we have. That goes against that shit.
Mandy B.
Yeah.
Jason Jolly
And that's why we doing all this redistricting. You know, it's a lot.
King
And, like, I'll go into it more when.
Jason Jolly
As we get closer.
King
Well, as we get closer to time, but also just like, when. Once we get everything black going, like, there's some shit we're going to talk about. But to your point, about the Marines in the family and that type of thing, thankfully, I'm glad that there was someone in that group of people who was strapped, proficient and able to defend.
Jason Jolly
He's like wiki. They pulled out because he was doing all the weird shit and nobody got hit. They say, pow.
King
Hold that. And the truth of the matter is that we want.
Jason Jolly
He got wounded.
King
Yeah, yeah, yeah. They took him out.
Mandy B.
That's why he was in the hospital.
King
That's why he was in the hospital. He got shot. And so, like, we want a lot of things right now. We want, you know, our rights to be codified. We want to have fair trials. We want to have all of these things. And we know that that is going against the. And the part that we don't talk about enough to me is that of course we have to vote, of course we have to use our voices. But the truth of the matter is that when you're talking about a revolution, like a real revolution, you look at these other countries, you don't get a real revolution without some violence. And we're not talking about going out just murdering people. But what I'm saying is that you're fighting against a system that wants to stay intact by any means. You're not just going to get it because. Because you want it, you might have to take it. You might have to put up a real fight for it. And there's people out there that want to kill us. Not just black people, gay people, any marginalized group of people. There's someone out there who wants you dead.
Mandy B.
And I will say, in terms of. I'm 35 now, seeing BLM, seeing all the peaceful protests, the peaceful protests that took place, and now seeing the reversal of DEI and things like, it sucks to feel like that did nothing. And so hearing you say that does. And mind you, I'm someone that's against guns. And, you know, we've talked about my thoughts on the right to bear arms. But to literally be walking and being a part of those protests during COVID and to see companies go from acting like they care to not caring at
King
all, because it was financially profitable for them at the time because it looked good. It was good pr.
Mandy B.
It was a part. It was a PR move.
King
They had meetings about it and sat in boardroom. People get paid millions of dollars to be like, what should we do right now? We should just chill. We should just show the niggas some love.
Mandy B.
And to see that within our administration, to see how quickly all of it has now seem like we did it for nothing. We haven't reached a point to where anything feels safer or we feel like we're any closer to actually receiving fairness or justice or anything. This week on the podcast, I am sitting down with Ray Porter, the narrator of Andy Weir's audiobook project Hail Mary Massive sci fi adventure about survival and science and what happens when you wake up alone, very far from Earth.
Ray Porter
I really had to make a decision because I caught myself getting that frog in my throat and starting to get teary as I'm narrating some of these sections. And it's like, okay, yo, yo, yo, is this indulgence? And I really thought about it. I was like, no. At this point, it would kind of be betraying the trust the author and the listener have in telling this story if I don't go through it. But there's places in this book that deeply, emotionally affected me. And I left it on the mic. That's great because it served the story. People will say like, oh my God, I cried at the end. It's like, yeah, dude, me too.

Jason Jolly
Because we're not on code. And when I say code, I don't mean like lying. And I'm saying like we don't have a clear path to a collective consciousness that's saying, yeah, we're gonna stay here, get this done, stay on task. If it's 1 year, 3 years, 10 years. Cause look, even you mentioned Black Lives Matter. Look how much it got. Divisive inner workings that happened.
Mandy B.
Well, let's be very clear. How many people within our own people, the leadership was.
King
It got very messy, very nasty to
Mandy B.
where I think that was a big part of even us as a people feeling a little, what's it called, like, jaded? Defeated.
King
Defeated. Defeated.
Mandy B.
Jaded. Like to know that our own leaders within that infrastructure was taking our money to buy Lambos and mansions, that's crazy. A part of that, I think made us feel like, damn, who are our leaders?
King
Who's gonna be. Who's the righteous person? Right? Who can we trust? Who can we believe?
Mandy B.
And that sucks when it's. We already don't trust them. So I think for that to be the movement that it was, to be so tarnished even within history, like that was such a movement of peaceful protest across the country. Because what that, across the world.
Jason Jolly
What caused that?
Mandy B.
What do you mean what caused it?
Jason Jolly
How did we get the Black Lives Matter movement? Something happened. What were we doing?
Mandy B.
Oh no, the killing of, I mean, Trayvon Martin or something.
King
Trayvon Martin. Mike Brown.
Mandy B.
Mike Brown.
Jason Jolly
So it's like, we need to be leaders and not look for the leaders. And also, like, stop looking for messiahs. Y', all. Like, be the messiah.
King
And people have to be willing to sacrifice. Like, that's the part that nobody's really with. Like, Angela Rod was just on her Instagram kind of ranting about. She didn't call any names, but she was talking about her colleagues and people that she knows in Congress and about how when it was time to do some shit, they all got on. Some like, ah, I gotta. I gotta. But I got my reelection. Ah, I can't. I'll say to you. I'll say it to you on the phone, but I won't go on CNN and say it.
Mandy B.
I mean, I won't.
King
Mnc.
Kal Penn
You know what?
Mandy B.
You could compare that to the same thing we saw with Colin taking the knee and the other black NFL players. Like, oh, well, I need my check. I got a family to feed.
King
I fuck with you in the locker room, I'll tell you, I support. But I won't go out there and put it on the line and put
Mandy B.
it on the line for you.
King
And nobody wants to do that shit. And so it's like, until you have more people who are willing to actually suffer for. Listen, the people. When I even say ancestors. Yeah, ancestors. But like, in the 60s, like, people who crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge so that niggas could vote, they got their head bust. Martin Luther King died in 1964. Like, this shit wasn't that long ago. Niggas were losing their lives, their health, their livelihood.
Jason Jolly
We're not saying this enough. That's why they removed the books out of the classroom, too.
Mandy B.
That's why that's critical race theory.
Jason Jolly
That's why I've never. I've been never one to ignore my history or our history or just the past. The past allows you to know what's ahead in the future. It always comes back to it. But if we remove those elements in that intensity and we don't know that that exists or these kids don't know that shit, how did they arm themselves mentally, emotionally?
Mandy B.
I'm not gonna lie. You saying that history used to be one of my least favorite,
Jason Jolly
but that
Mandy B.
was Hottie Hottie, and mind you, in Florida, yes. But it was like remembering dates and, like, names. I don't even do that for, like, regular people. I don't remember birthdays. I stuck with names. Right? So history was just always like, why we gotta learn about this? And it wasn't until I got older that I really realized that it Literally repeats itself. And so how do you get better if you don't know how they handled it in the past? Or how do you keep things from. From happening again if you don't know what happened at the moment it happened? And so for me, just history and recalling things and specifically administrations, specifically how certain natural disasters happened, even seeing how we did the protests, like, it was insane to me to be a part of these peaceful protests during the pandemic and being able to see the images and how much it looked like the civil rights.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
It was.
Mandy B.
Yeah.
King
Like nothing had changed.
Mandy B.
You put both in black and white, and you almost couldn't tell.
King
You have no idea.
Mandy B.
And it's like we're fighting damn near for the same thing 40, 50 years later. That was like, crazy. It was almost like it was. It was emotional for me.
Jason Jolly
You turned the color into black and white, and it looks like continuance.
Mandy B.
Continuance.
King
And to your point, though, some of the problem is a. Like, yes, they were keeping things from us. They weren't teaching people, like, the whole history. But then the other problem that you just talked about, which I don't think think is talked about enough, is when you're teaching history, you're making people learn dates and names and all that. That's not the important part. The important part is the message, the lesson, the actual lesson of not just like, oh, no, when this war happened. Oh, no, when this person became president. The lesson is these things in history happened, and this is what happened because of these things. Here's the trickle down of, yeah, you don't need.
Mandy B.
You don't need to give me a quiz or an examination. In what year did Martin Luther King pass?
King
It's not the point.
Mandy B.
And it's like three years in the 60s and then one in the point.
King
The point is, why did he get killed? What happened when he died, and what did that affect going forward?
Jason Jolly
But then he becomes a hero when he was public enemy number one. Right, right. But he died. Now he becomes a hero. Because they control the narrative. They control the narrative. That's why they tell us if I had a dream. Right. But they don't tell you that he was leaning toward them. Man, you know what?
King
All of that, like, Malcolm was right.
Jason Jolly
Malcolm was absolutely.
A King
You know what I mean?
Jason Jolly
They don't want you to know that because at that point, it was like, no, he gotta go.
Mandy B.
I mean, even in history, though, they. They pinned the two of them against each other.
King
Yeah, you would think they were competing, but they weren't.
Mandy B.
It was like, right, no, It's. It's. It's year one, Melo versus LeBron. You gotta go you with Martin. Which one?
Jason Jolly
But they don't talk about when they came. When they came to together. They share philosophies and they understood that we have to have a solution here. Yeah, they understood there's power and strength and there's no reason that's why they not here.
Narrator/Reporter
No.
Mandy B.
Yeah, well, there's brutally.
King
There's power, humility.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, we going to kill them in front of everybody.
Mandy B.
That's just like they did. Jesus.
Jason Jolly
Well, Dr. Cheyenne, never mind.
Mandy B.
Oh, my. We not going to do that. We not even going to talk about that.
King
Let her tell it.
Mandy B.
Okay, real quick.
Jason Jolly
They going in.
Mandy B.
Real quick, quick. I just saw a doc on tv. Okay, so there's people in the comments now like, she's a grifter, she's a liar, but she's not harming anyone.
King
Oh, they love that line.
Mandy B.
Do you know? So I just watched a documentary on Netflix, if y' all haven't seen it yet. It's called Maternal Instinct.
King
I just watched it last night.
Mandy B.
Hold on. And to me, this is the harm of someone that. This is the harm of someone that believes their lies. When you become a psychopath, when you are a person that infiltrates a system to create a world that is one of your own, maternal instinct is what happens. And so basically, this woman lied from everything to family members receiving money. She lied about who she was as a person, the things she experienced even with other people within her life. She had a hysterectomy and made a man believe she was pregnant. So much so that when it came down to her due date, she went and killed a woman, cut the baby out, and then went to the hospital and acted like she gave birth. And so not to.
King
That's crazy, bro.
Mandy B.
Not to compare Cheyenne Bryant to a woman like this. But as I watched that documentary, I said, this is the harm of a liar. You cannot sit here and feed into a person who is sick. And the way that she said she ran for mayor, ran for office, the amount of degrees, the schools she allegedly went to.
King
She's a president and vice president, apparently.
Mandy B.
To me, I watched Maternal Instinct and I was like, this is the insanity, and this is the cause and effect of a liar. How far are you willing to go
King
to sell the story?
Mandy B.
And at this point, we've seen she. She goes far enough to charge $300 an hour to help people, but it's really just like she's created this world that is like, I'm not gonna hold you. I don't give a fuck. That is a bitch. I'm cool on. Because how far are you willing to go to keep up this lie in this world of lies?
Jason Jolly
But people are paying. They becoming her clients, too, though, so the ignorance is on them as well.
Mandy B.
I mean, it can be, but again, like, this woman on maternal instinct. Y' all have to watch it, because it, to me is like, she went. She literally wouldn't let them do a vaginal exam because she's like, this is my baby. She murdered, by the way, why this is so important as well. She is the youngest in US History for being on death row. She's one of seven women on death row in Texas.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
In Texas.
Mandy B.
And she is the youngest in US History to be on death row. She literally murdered this woman, and the baby died. So two murders.
King
And she started off with. It was a small town.
Mandy B.
Yes.
King
It wasn't like she could go that far away, but she basically had a friend group that she was telling lies to start being weird with, and then kind of abandoned those people and went to another group of people that she thought, like, oh, okay, I couldn't tell those lies to them, so maybe I can tell the lies to these people because they don't know.
Mandy B.
And did. And did.
King
And it went away with it and got away with it for a long time. Until the point where it's like, once you tell the pregnancy story, the whole time I'm watching it, I'm like, all right, so, okay, you're lying about being pregnant. You're lying about this money.
Mandy B.
Y' all seen it, yomi.
Yomi
It's crazy.
King
Y'.
Narrator/Reporter
All.
Kal Penn
Y' all watch this.
King
But the whole time I'm asking before they get to the actual part.
Jason Jolly
Yeah.
King
I'm like, okay, you can lie about the money. You can lie about. You have this rich family, and you can. You can kind of escape that away. But, like, you're saying you're pregnant. How do you hide your growing stomach from your husband for nine months? And then when you get away with that. Okay, now you've gotten away with that. What do you do about the baby? Now you have to have a baby. So what do you do?
Mandy B.
Which is. Everyone that knew her was waiting for there to be, like, a miscarriage. She lost the baby, something. And then she makes it 20 days past her due date, and they go. And then she literally. Oh, she had a voice recorder.
Jason Jolly
Why didn't she do that?
Mandy B.
She had multiple. She was a liar.
Jason Jolly
Keeping.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
No.
Jason Jolly
Why didn't she just do. Hey, the miscarriage and that would have been the.
King
You know, I think she had told so many lies that she just followed through. Yeah. Now I have to follow through.
Jason Jolly
Murderer.
Mandy B.
She literally googled how to do a suspension, how to do a C section. How to do a C section, Went to the lady's house with a diaper bag and a scalpel.
King
And the lady that she did it to was her. She faked being a photographer to take, like, wedding photos and shit like that.
Mandy B.
She did her maternity shoot.
King
The woman that she killed whose baby she cut out, she did the maternity shoot. And the lady's friends are all in the dock talking about, like, oh, no, she was just a friend. Like, we thought she was cool.
Narrator/Reporter
We didn't know her.
King
She was so nice. We had her in the picture. We had her in the wedding. Like, we thought she was cool. And then she wouldn't kill my sister and stole the baby.
Mandy B.
Yeah. No, it was.
Jason Jolly
She was targeted. She was masterminded.
King
A master manipulator.
Mandy B.
But again, to keep up with these
King
lies, to keep up with the lies.
Yomi
That's my biggest fear.
King
Being bamboozled like that in that kind of way.
Mandy B.
No, no. Like, literally even the sister said, I would have never thought that a person we know would have killed us would do this. Like, you don't think that someone you're close to or that you let in your house is capable of doing her husband. Yeah.
King
People try to tell him, like, hey, man, this bitch is crazy. And he was, ah, that's my wife.
Mandy B.
He was sticking up for this. It was.
King
Yeah, it was kind of weird, but whatever, whatever, whatever. And then when the shit finally hit the fan, he's sitting there with the fucking boo boo the fool face because he's just like, I can't believe y'
Mandy B.
all have to watch this shit.
King
He had to watch this shit. That's a crazy doc.
Mandy B.
All I want y' all to take away from it and not to loop Cheyenne into it. But it is like, why the Internet came down so hard on her is because this is what happens when you sit here and feed into someone who believes their lies. It can go far. It can go far. Now let's get into Elon. He is the world's first trillion heir.
King
No surprise there.
Jason Jolly
And no surprise, honestly, he was trending that way, right?
Mandy B.
He was. I'm not gonna lie.
Jason Jolly
Here we go.
Mandy B.
I don't really have much takes on. I don't think anybody should be a trillionaire in this economy.
Jason Jolly
Well, I think that's a lot of investment, stock market, a lot of These billionaires, they get all the asset accumulation through stock market.
King
Yeah, well the article was saying that he was already worth 830 some million dollars billion dollars before this IPO went through. Now he probably made another 200, 300 billion dollars.
Jason Jolly
And like.
Mandy B.
And the IPO is essentially ex. Becoming public.
King
Right. And they said that normally when a company goes public it's a small amount of shares that go out to the public. 5, 10%, something like that.
Jason Jolly
None.
King
30% of the. Of the investment of this company went out for public offering.
Guest
Oh wow.
King
At $135.
Mandy B.
So how much is it right now?
Kal Penn
Let me see.
Jason Jolly
Can you get up on this? I don't know if it's still at
Mandy B.
135 since then and it went up like $30. The increments. People have already seen the thing I did want to get into again, just bringing race into it. Elon is also currently suing for the right to discriminate against black people. Jesus. So his AI company XAI just filed a lawsuit against the state of Colorado to block a law that would stop AI tools from discriminating against black people in hiring loans, insurance and school ed missions. By the way, this is the same man whose Tesla was sued by the state of California, the federal government and hundreds of black workers for running what employees called the plantation where racial slurs were heard up to 100 times a day.
Yomi
Now
Mandy B.
thoughts on. On this. On. On Elon, I will sit here and say in the most selectively ignorant fashion, for as much as people have to say about Elon, maybe we are all still on X and I have maybe four or five friends with Teslas.
King
Yeah.
Mandy B.
So there's like. It's weird because this is something to where this has all been in our face on how evil of a person he is, what he thinks of black people. And for whatever reason the way we came and got together against Target, and we'll talk about Target as well on Friday's episode. But the way we did all come together, this man doesn't get his. He doesn't become a trillionaire without participating.
King
Yeah, people spend money on him.
Yomi
He like is like building all this shit in Memphis, Tennessee with like, like without permits.
King
Yep.
Mandy B.
And like mind you, in a black ass city.
Yomi
Yes, exactly.
Mandy B.
In a black ass city.
Yomi
Like Memphis is currently like going through shit because of like the pollution in the air. Because of.
Mandy B.
Oh here too in Atlanta, the data centers.
King
Data centers.
Mandy B.
Oh it's, it's.
King
And it's ironic because so we went on a press trip one time. I got Invited on a press trip to Memphis. This was probably.
Ray Porter
Damn.
King
This is probably seven, eight years ago, maybe even longer. And we actually had lunch with Elon's brother. Brother.
Mandy B.
Okay.
Yomi
And Elon Musk.
Jason Jolly
Yeah.
Yomi
No, Kimball Musk.
King
I think it's.
Charlemagne Tha God
Yeah.
King
Is his name Kimball?
Yomi
Yeah, Kimball. I. I used to work for a restaurant that he founded.
King
Okay.
Nissan Advertiser
So.
King
So, you know, he's all about. At least what he was putting out at the time was that he was all about green spaces.
Yomi
Yep.
Ryan Reynolds
He.
Yomi
He had like a farm to table.
King
A farm to table concept, and he was trying to implement farm to table education in the public schools system.
Mandy B.
Okay.
King
And his whole thing was the environment. And this is up. We have to reverse and we have to do all of these things. And so it's crazy that just a few years later his brother comes to the same exact city that his brother was trying to do some green for some environmental for.
Yomi
He told his brother about Memphis.
King
Memphis. Like, oh, it's growing here. There's all this whoopi, whoopi, whoop. And Elon said, oh, yeah, word. I'm gonna come right down here.
Mandy B.
Elon. Elon, hat.
Jason Jolly
So are they with each other or.
Mandy B.
No, no, it's given. They don't.
King
Yeah, I don't. I don't think. I didn't get the imp. He didn't talk about his brother much, but I don't get the impression that they are that close.
Yomi
Different missions.
King
Different. Very different mission sets.
Jason Jolly
So, I mean, different philosophy.
King
Yes. About how this thing is going to go.

hey, everyone, it's Cal Penn. I'm the host of Earsay, the Audible and Iheart audiobook Club. This week on the podcast, I am sitting down with Ray Porter, the narrator of Andy Weir's audiobook project, Hail Mary, massive sci fi adventure about survival and science and what happens when you wake up alone, very far from earth.
Ray Porter
I really had to make a decision because I caught myself getting that frog in my throat and starting to get teary as I'm narrating some of these sections and it's like okay, yo yo yo, is this this indulgent? And I really thought about it. I was like no. At this point it would kind of be betraying the trust the author and the listener have in telling this story if I don't go through it. But there's places in this book that that deeply emotionally affected me and I left it on the mic. That's great cuz it served the story. People will say like oh my God I cried at the end. It's like yeah dude, me too.

Yeah, yeah, for their water.
Jason Jolly
As above, so below. So if you look at that, right, the water is being up. Yeah, the. The air is even more up. That's why it's hot. Yeah, Everywhere is hot.
King
Yeah, it is.
Mandy B.
It is. What was your question about narrow link, though? Let's have some fun.
Jason Jolly
So I saw something a while. This is gonna tie into her buying a robot.
Mandy B.
Oh, babe. Oh, babe, it's coming.
Jason Jolly
I know, I know it's coming.
Mandy B.
Y' all gonna come to my house. I'm gonna be like, y' all want a drink? Get him a drink.
Jason Jolly
Well, a couple things you remember during the, you know, the process of the finals, there was videos in West 4th with a robot with the Nick jersey, and he was dancing, and I don't
King
think I even saw.
Jason Jolly
I was like, this is not real. They had the robot, and it was the same robot from Elon's or look like from his camp, but it was
King
just in the street doing dancing.
Jason Jolly
Oh, no, they were telling it in
Mandy B.
a Knick jersey and a Nick jacket.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, yeah, he had Timbs on.
Mandy B.
They had him dressed, dancing.
Jason Jolly
It almost like he. I don't know if they program him or they just kind of feel the aura and they Just go.
King
Let him go.
Jason Jolly
But he was way too fluid. I was like, yo, this is. It's kind of cool. I ain't gonna lie. You got me. But so neuralink, you know, know, Elon and his camp has been developing this thing, you know, brain enhancements in how you think and how you operate. And I got a friend of mine who is legally blind, and he had mentioned to me that there's a neural link feature of some sort where they could correct or bypass a nerve issue which allowed, would allow him to see. Okay. Cause he has limited sight. But for somebody who's under that duress for 20, 30 years, this thing becomes about. And there's all this research that, you know, obviously is something that should he do it if it's available. And then so he can see again, you know, he know what a butt really looks and feels like together in sync.
King
I ain't seen titties in 35 years.
Jason Jolly
I seen a little shadow of it, but.
King
Areola, is that a birthmark? I don't know what that is over there.
Jason Jolly
So, like, I thought about it. Cause my first initial reaction was like, no, you can't. Then I'm like, damn, who am I to even suggest a no when that's someone's.
Mandy B.
And if it's available to him.
Jason Jolly
Correct. Now it probably is gonna maybe get a look. If there's some free trials shit, I'm pretty sure he gonna sign the fuck up immediately. Cause if it means that he can change the trajectory of how he operates in society, you know. Know. So I thought about it, right? I'm like, damn, man. When this thing comes out, you know, they're going to give us all the features, you know, all of the. The bells and whistles of. You could open your Tesla with this, like, just wink your eye, you know, you got the ipod. The ipods, you know, they're putting cameras in.
Mandy B.
They're putting cameras in the. In the AirPods.
Jason Jolly
Yeah.
King
So you can read the society around you.
Mandy B.
It's going to just survey them. Just more survey.
King
It's like meta glasses. Yep.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, I'm good.
Mandy B.
I'm not gonna lie. I'm. I'm not against technology if it can help you. Like, you know, I have a. My best friend's going through cancer again. Whatever can help you live longer, like, take it, like. So, I mean, I guess it's a. It's a catch 22 again. Like, we could sit here and say we're against Elon and him amassing this wealth and what his rhetoric is. But if he creates Something that unfortunately you want or can help you or make life a little easier.
Jason Jolly
Would you do it?
Mandy B.
Would you do it?
King
Well, that's the. But also the question is, like, a little while ago, we were talking about, you know, the revolution and, like, sacrifices. It's like, what is. What does that cost? Everything costs something. Nothing is for free. So, like, okay, it can help you see again. And it costs a society at large something.
Jason Jolly
An evil man with the dirty water,
King
the pollution, the whatever. The thing is, it costs something for that. So the question then becomes diseases. Diseases are right.
Yomi
It's like, people are gonna.
Mandy B.
But you know what it does? It brings us back to the reality that we live in an individualistic society where, unfortunately, we're not cats. We don't have nine lives, or, you know, we don't know if whoever our soul lived before what happens after. And so we do, like, unfortunately end up living in a way that, well, this is my one life to be.
King
This is my one life, and I
Mandy B.
get to see it and I want to live it to the best of. And we also preach that you only have one life to live. Yolo.
Jason Jolly
So individualism.
A King
You know what I mean?
Mandy B.
We also champion individualism in a way where you have to do what's best for you.
Jason Jolly
Yeah.
King
Be yourself, all of these things. Put on your mask first before you help others, et cetera, all that shit, you know?
Mandy B.
And so.
King
But it's just like, I just wonder, like, again, like, obviously you can't tell someone somebody's blind, somebody has an illness, they want to remedy that. But the question becomes, like, this is
Yomi
like the big pharma play.
King
Yeah, well, not only big pharma, it
Mandy B.
brings us back as well to climate change, global warming. When we talk about, like, well, the planet's not gonna be alive for our great grandkids. And you know what I mean? Like, it goes to the actions and the things that we do today has an impact on. And then people being like, well, I ain't gonna be here for it. People being me. I mean, sometimes, you know, like, if I. When I can afford a private jet, I'm gonna fly it. And I understand the exhaustion.
Jason Jolly
You said private jet. Look, I've seen over the last two, three weeks, me traveling back and forth.
Mandy B.
Oh, no, no.
Jason Jolly
I've seen celebrities who I thought would be on private planes. So that made me think, okay, no, the economy. The only thing that's on private planes right now is athletes and 50.
Mandy B.
No, that's it. And of course, politicians.
Yomi
And Drake.
Mandy B.
Drake got his own plane.
Yomi
If I'm lying economy.
Mandy B.
I ain't going to hold you. Rick Ross being seen.
A King
Hold on.
Mandy B.
Here's the other thing. Nigga wasn't even in the lounge.
King
N was just sitting.
Mandy B.
He was just sitting.
A King
I don't even.
Mandy B.
He was sitting at the gate, baby.
Jason Jolly
Oh, there was a video last night that dropped with Mace was in marta and they was like, oh, you broke, nigga. They was antagonist. I'm like, wait a minute.
Mandy B.
Wait. Mace was in.
Jason Jolly
He was in the train. On the train.
Mandy B.
On the train.
Jason Jolly
Yeah. But the way they was talking is like, oh, you supposed to be in the Bentley. I'm like, no, that nigga is a human being.
Ryan Reynolds
That's right.
Mandy B.
Okay, to be fair, I want y' all to know, if y' all see me on the train, it is not for the cost. It is in fact, because it's convenience, bro. When I was in New York last week, I'm looking to go so 0.8 miles.
King
Oh, yeah, they hit y' all over
Mandy B.
the head in New York on the train, 11 minutes.
King
Yeah.
Mandy B.
In a car. 36, babe. I'm hopping on the train.
King
And that uber was probably $95 compared
Mandy B.
to the $3 bill. The thing is not even money sometimes. It's like I can get there way quicker.
King
Yeah, it's just a convenient way to move around 100%.
Jason Jolly
And you don't want to be in an Uber too. And then this GPS is telling him to go abcd. And he just go, of course. And then, man, Andy, why you going in, motherfucker?
Mandy B.
Nah, listen, I do want you to pull up too, yomi, if you can. I did get Rick Ross, who responded to the Internet backlash for him flying economy.
King
About the economy.
Jason Jolly
Listen, I'm not mad at you, player.
Mandy B.
Me neither.
Jason Jolly
I'm not mad at you, player.
Mandy B.
Let's go out and see.
Guest
Want to know where my jet at? I obviously didn't get the memo. It's being updated with Starlink. You know, it's Starlink link is.
Jason Jolly
That's another Elon.
Guest
Yeah, that's the half a million dollar WI Fi. Yeah, that's where my jet at. And I chose to fly commercial to Columbia to go party with trick daddy and ball greasy at the escape the States vibe. And coming from a boss, I gotta let you know how this go. When Ricky Rose take flights to six digits. I'm going to get some muon the muon. But don't y' all ever look down on no young hustlers who if they walking, if they riding a bicycle Facts talk. If they riding on the train don't you ever look down on those young hustlers going to get some money. Don't you ever talk about these young entrepreneurs if they was flying first class, coach, economy or private. I flew that for 20 years before I went and spent a 40 ball. And when I say that, I mean 40 million on the plane. If I send my jet to go pick my mom up and I fly commercial, that's what I do for mama. And since it's a big deal for Ros to fly commercial, sometimes I might have to buy me a. A wing, maybe Atlanta Airport. I buy the whole Seawing se.
King
Well, the funny part about that, well, he should have.
Mandy B.
Spending 40 million on a plane. Crazy. When apparently them spirit flights. Them. Them spirit planes going for 10, 15K.
King
So last week I did what, what, what it was called an exploratory call with a, a publicist who represents some luxury brands.
Mandy B.
Okay.
King
One of the luxury brands he represents is a private jet service.
Mandy B.
Okay.
King
And what she was explaining to me is, is that those private jets, the reason there's a service for private jets is because people like whether it's Rose or Kim Kardashian or whoever that own these jets, depending on where they're going and what has to be done, it can be cheaper for them. They might not even take their jet because it can be. They can make money loaning the jet to someone else and just go where they gotta go as opposed to paying the fees that it goes with the jet fuel, the maintenance, the shit gotta be cleaned up. This shit costs a brick.
Mandy B.
But even that's what Ross said, my jet is just being, it's being updated with some.
King
With some. And that cost me money to update that jet with this stuff. So it's like, yeah, there's a million reasons why somebody might be flying commercial as a polls, but he's going to Colombia. I'm assuming he's talking about South Carolina. Columbia. I don't.
Jason Jolly
Was he talking about Columbia? Columbia country.
King
Okay, I was going to say who the is pulling up to South Carolina?
Mandy B.
Wait, was it, was it Columbia the country? Trick daddy in
King
Colombia?
Mandy B.
I ain't even gonna hold you home.
Jason Jolly
Hey, not if they got a Colombian connect, maybe.
King
Trick, by the way, sounds like he
Mandy B.
is not getting booked in Columbia.
Jason Jolly
But he said he was doing a. They were having a gathering at an estate.
Mandy B.
No, but where?
King
Yeah, but that sounds like a country ass part of South Carolina. Columbia that just has. I don't even know if trick daddy has a passport.
Mandy B.
No, look, it say Columbia spelled like the country.
King
Oh, it Does.
Mandy B.
Nah, bro.
Jason Jolly
He said Colombia.
Mandy B.
Could you look up Trick Daddy?
Jason Jolly
Bone breezy. Columbia. You know what it is? They probably went. They probably have a private party somewhere and they chose that destination.
Mandy B.
Hold on. Ball Greasy is a Florida. That didn't make it out of Florida with the music, bro.
Jason Jolly
He made it.
King
Now Trick Daddy just sounds like a who doesn't have a passport? I just. I don't. Trick Daddy going all over the world
Jason Jolly
using somebody else's passport?
King
Or is there demand for Trick Daddy?
Mandy B.
Wait, the cartel booked.
King
That's what it was. Maybe that's what it was.
Jason Jolly
The black soiree in Cartagena.
Mandy B.
Don't say.
Jason Jolly
Listen. Joey Crack, June 4th. Joey Crack, the don from the Bronx. Fat Joe told us years ago when he put out an album.
King
He did say he was Don Carter.
Jason Jolly
Don Cartagena.
Guest
He did.
Mandy B.
No, he did it. You see why Americans are so
Nissan Advertiser
Cartagena.
Jason Jolly
Listen, Fat Joe's a top tier Puerto Rican. I think if he say it's Cartagena, it's Cartagena. I think it's Cartagena.
King
I think he colonized his own language.
Jason Jolly
He probably did. He probably did. He probably.
King
That's how it goes sometimes.
Mandy B.
This is a touring party. That's. It's called Escape the States. Oh, so it's a. Okay. So maybe they're gonna have it in. In different countries.
Jason Jolly
Places they just going around to different countries.
Mandy B.
I'm not gonna lie. That is kinda dope.
Ray Porter
Okay.
Jason Jolly
That's what's up.
Mandy B.
Okay. In Cartagena.
Ryan Reynolds
Okay.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
Yeah.
Jason Jolly
Stop airline shaming. Y' all stop it. Like the economy is economy.
Mandy B.
Oh, I'm not gonna lie. Y' all seeing me on that while you.
Jason Jolly
Y' all don't fly Delta.
Mandy B.
Y' all about to see me. I'm finna be on the big seat.
Jason Jolly
Y' all niggas be in the back.
King
Hey.
Mandy B.
Y' all don't even know. Hey, back in December, before all the things I have my Go Wild pass. I'm gonna get my ass.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, but they need to have Go Wild flights, though. Cause they acting up now.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
Come on.
Jason Jolly
Front frontier.
Mandy B.
Okay. By the way, by the way, look at this lineup.
Jason Jolly
So this lineup, all these look like they got neuralink or they need it.
Mandy B.
Hold on. By face, I only recognize Ross and Trick Dash.
Jason Jolly
Oh. DJ Stacks and Ball Greasy.
Mandy B.
Who? I don't. I wouldn't know Ball Greasy if I wouldn't be able to birthday cake him.
Jason Jolly
That look like what's A. What's A? From Houston that day.
Yomi
I'd imagine he's wearing the heat Is that him?
King
Maybe?
Mandy B.
No, B. Greasy is the one with the glasses and the hat.
King
Who's that on the far right? Right, that's B. Grizzy with the. No, the Gl. With the dark glasses. Him.
Jason Jolly
Yeah.
King
Who is that?
Jason Jolly
What's the dude's name?
Mandy B.
I don't know.
Jason Jolly
It look like Kevin Gase, the one with the glasses. I thought he was. Okay, so.
Mandy B.
So it's dj. So. DJ Stacks. DJ Nasty.
Jason Jolly
I thought that was Kuro Bangs. That's who I thought it was.
King
That's the name I haven't heard in a long time.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, that's another one that Aubrey owe his text to, but we going to
Boost Mobile Advertiser
talk about that later.
King
Drake, what happened?
Jason Jolly
Nothing.
King
Oh, no, nothing.
Mandy B.
I mean, he was really nice.
Jason Jolly
Purple Banks is dope.
Mandy B.
He's dope. He's actually a really nice guy.
Jason Jolly
He's a trendsetter, too, but he don't get the prize.
Mandy B.
He don't. Well, yeah. Stop airing.
Jason Jolly
I don't know who the other two N is at the bottom.
Mandy B.
Hey, guys, just so you know, we can no longer. We can no longer shame anything in this economy. Okay?
Narrator/Reporter
We can.
King
It's fucked up out here.
Jason Jolly
So even the ladies. Ladies, ladies, ladies, ladies. I know there's a lot of red pill, blue pill conversation, but, Mandy, you used to be. You're a reformed human being you can speak to. Should they lower their expectations of what financially these men are coming with now.
Mandy B.
You know what? I was just having this conversation. I don't understand why. Ladies, if we're going through this in terms of. Some of y' all are single moms, I don't know how you making it out here taking care of roommates that don't pay rent.
King
Roommates that don't pay rent.
Mandy B.
But for the ladies, whether it's your car note, whether you see the price of rent, car note, whether you see the price of going out now. Cause we enjoy going out with our home girls. The men are in the same economy as us.
Jason Jolly
And even worse in some cases. Even worse in some cases.
Mandy B.
I don't understand why we are still having. I need a nigga to make six figures. Do y' all see the job market?
Jason Jolly
It's up out here.
Mandy B.
Like women are being laid off. Men are being laid off, too. Men have bills.
Jason Jolly
Men have not even get hired.
Mandy B.
Like, it. It's. It's rough out here. Let's stop having the 100, $200 date conversations. Or like, we. We've out, we're gone. We're beyond it.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, we're beyond it.
King
Just get to know somebody.
Jason Jolly
Yeah, let's do it.
King
Find out who's a good human being. Just let it be.
Jason Jolly
Let's have a crochet date. What's the shit with the. The sewing date?
Mandy B.
Okay, now you're taking too far.
Jason Jolly
We should. That is low cost.
King
Let's make a blanket together.
Jason Jolly
You could just go to. Yes.
King
Let's make a Christmas. Let's make a quilt together and get to know one another.
Jason Jolly
Oh, why are we going. First of all, that's a bad account to go to.
Mandy B.
Yeah, don't go to that.
Jason Jolly
That dude is out of control.
Boost Mobile Advertiser
See?
Jason Jolly
Oh, he's out of control. Yeah, that nigga's out of control. But hold on. So he's the biggest fraud. Anybody who's against Drake. He does anti.
King
Oh, he's that guy.
Jason Jolly
He's one of those.
King
Okay, I get it.
Mandy B.
Nah, I'm not gonna lie. I'm not gonna lie. I do. In terms of dating, y' all just find someone who loves you. Find someone who will hop out of
Jason Jolly
the car and get you.
Mandy B.
Split flops.
Jason Jolly
Find your person and keep it pushing.
Mandy B.
Wasn't that cute? Oh, you don't know.
Jason Jolly
She changed, so she might be next. She was around. All that aura.
Mandy B.
So after game four, again, we wanted to stay out, but I was in heels and my feet hurt, right? So a king. Look, so. So a king. A king's driving. Yo, we hop in the car, and me and. Me and my boyfriend get in the backstage, and we're riding downtown, and we're just talking. And I'm like, oh, my God, my feet hurt so bad. And I just put my feet up so he can massage it. So he's massaging my feet in the back seat, and he's like, yo, yo, yo, yo, pull over. I'm thinking he got a piss. I'm thinking he sees somebody he know. He's like, yo, yo, yo, pull over, Pull over, pull over. And a king is like, right here. He's like, yeah. He's like, okay. So we're in the car, don't know what happens. He gets back in the back seat and hands me flip flops. Cause he knows we're about to be outside.
King
Oh, he done ran into a doorway.
Mandy B.
He like, literally a cvs.
Kal Penn
That was.
Jason Jolly
Think about this. He's massaging. None of us know this is happening. It's just like, whatever. So it's only. Cause she said it. But think about the intentionality in one block, two block when there's all these people and all these Knick fans.
King
Yeah, it's Chaos in the streets.
Jason Jolly
He's processing something for her. Right, right, right, right, right. No pressure for him to have. Let's go spend $500 on bullshit steak. It's just the human shit, bro. Yeah, we gotta get back to the human shit. The intentionality had me looking like I
Mandy B.
was at a loop.
Yomi
Size 10. Size 10.
Mandy B.
Size tens, by the way.
Jason Jolly
Just say.
Mandy B.
And he's like, these are the smallest they had, babe.
Nissan Advertiser
Right?
Mandy B.
Size 10. Luau's flip flops. That is with new York written in them. Why they even have luau flip flops for New Yorkers? I don't know. But literally looked like I was in Hawaii. Size 10.
King
Sweet black love.
Mandy B.
He's like, they're flats, though.
King
Sweet black love.
Jason Jolly
This is the version of Mandy I love. Cause now she.
Charlemagne Tha God
We could.
Jason Jolly
We possibly could get her to watch a Spike Lee movie like you got to watch.
Mandy B.
No, no, no. He. I've watched. What's the. The heroin.
King
Heroin.
Mandy B.
The heroin. The school days.
Jason Jolly
Oh, school days.
Mandy B.
I was not into that movie either.
Jason Jolly
School day was crazy. But even. Even do the right thing.
King
For sure.
Jason Jolly
Do the right thing. The actor, the. The Giancarlo. Giancarlo and the other dude, the Italian.
King
They was at the game.
Jason Jolly
It's like, man, if you don't know what these two represent, you know, go do your Googles, you know what I mean?
Mandy B.
By the way, I'm here for the Ben Stiller documentary. Yo.
King
That's gonna be. Yeah, Ben Stiller.
Kal Penn
Yep.
King
Yep.
Kal Penn
Mm. Mm.
Mandy B.
Yeah, Ben Stiller.
King
He said he wouldn't. I think they. I think he wasn't ready to talk about it. He wasn't, but Shaq and them kind of, like, brought the question out, and he was like, all right. Yeah. But he's clearly filming something around the Nick playoff run.
Jason Jolly
And his fandom.
King
And his fandom. Yeah. And the whole thing.
Jason Jolly
Shout out to the legit celebrity Nick fans.
Mandy B.
Yeah.
Jason Jolly
Salute. And I just want one more thing when we talk about the revolution and whatnot.
Narrator/Reporter
Yes.
Jason Jolly
I think the first nigga that should be in the front line of that shit is all them New York n the content, creating fans that was there burning the buses and all that shit. Put them n the San Antonio spurs, dude that was beating everybody up. And Big Groove. Those should be the first niggas on the front line.
King
Oh, man. Please put Big Groove in the front of that. God damn.
Yomi
Damn.
King
We don't need no more of that.
Yomi
That guy that was beating everyone. He's not even from in San Antonio.
Jason Jolly
He just. Somebody said that nigga's from Browns. But he just looking. He just put on a jersey cuz he wanted to fight somebody.
Mandy B.
The one that was going through like the five guys
Yomi
from Philly.
Jason Jolly
Oh, he's from Philly.
Mandy B.
Oh that makes sense.
King
Oh that would make more sense.
Jason Jolly
He just wanted to beat up.
Mandy B.
Sorry.
King
That five guys video was crazy though. Was that a real the Knicks like I don't know. Was that an old video that they just repurpose for the thing they were throwing stools and tables on that I
Jason Jolly
would imagine the workers would have raised up too, but I. I don't know.
King
Yeah, that was crazy.
Mandy B.
It was. It was crazy. Life is crazy, y'. All.
King
It is.
Mandy B.
And a revolution.
Jason Jolly
Each one teach one.
Mandy B.
There we go. There we go.
Jason Jolly
As much as we can, y'.

Episode Date: June 16, 2026
Host: Mandy B., with Yomi, A King, Jason Jolly, and other regulars
This week’s “Selective Ignorance” is a high-energy, deeply personal, and incisive episode where hosts Mandy B., Yomi, A King, and Jason Jolly break down the past week’s most talked-about issues, from sports euphoria in New York to race in America, high-profile legal cases, celebrity culture, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup controversies. Their signature blend of candid commentary, biting humor, and real talk is on full display as they tackle how joy, injustice, and everyday life are colliding for Black folks in America right now.
Timestamps: [04:56] – [31:20]
The Knicks are NBA Champions: The city’s electric reaction is relived through personal accounts, parade stories, and debates over NYC sports hierarchy.
“We stayed out in the city because after the game we can't just leave… taking pictures with [the Empire State Building] blue and orange.” [25:29]
Sports, Race, and Celebration:
The hosts recognize sports victories as community “distractions” amid a heavy climate of social and political stress.
“Look, I said it before. This is a great distraction… there's just so much… that's weighing on us.” [29:13]
Personal Touch:

Racist Trolls & Jury Talk:
The hosts recount the viral backlash to their commentary about the Carmelo Anthony trial and jury selection, with “bigot bots” descending on their clips.
“They were really upset with knowing that we as black people want to see black people not go to… hey.” [10:29]
Race and Hypocrisy:
“If it's not about race, then why is the jury all white?” (King, [11:13]) “If you believe that your family got the justice… there’s no need for random bigotry… be happy. It was disgusting.” (Mandy B., [11:35])
Timestamps: [40:47] – [55:06]
“To know that all of these countries with black and brown people are experiencing this level of discrimination, and it's disgusting.” [46:25]
“I think it’s a reflection on what's happening with this administration… It's fucked up.” [47:02]
Timestamps: [62:21] – [70:51]
“Banning cameras in this courtroom keeps us from really seeing what the jury experienced… another way in which we as a community did not get fairness.” [63:05]
“Don’t tell me he’s going to be in prison… just to keep them at bay… go under the radar.” [67:49]
“People need to vote. We keep going at local elections… that's why they're doing all this redistricting.” [69:33]
Timestamps: [87:58] – [101:02]
Trillionaire Culture:
Elon Musk’s rise, his companies’ discriminatory practices (“suing for the right to discriminate against Black people”), and his polarizing presence in cities like Memphis and Atlanta.

Dilemma of Technology:
“Who am I to even suggest a no when that's someone's [chance to see]?” [99:21]
Timestamps: [102:27] – [110:00]
