Hey guys, JBM here yet again with the release of a very cool sneak peek from the Traveler, which is the Backer exclusive bonus season we're producing as part of our Crowdfund featuring Michael Mao as Agent Blaine. But before we get to that, I have some very exciting news to share. We're in the last 72 hours of our campaign and thrilled to announce that the Traveller is now officially funded and greenlit. To those of you who have already supported the Crowdfund, thank you so much for helping us get across this finish line. We're humbled, grateful and hyped to be able to bring you both Derelict War and the Traveler. If you haven't joined us yet on the Crowdfund, or if you're interested in upgrading your tier to include the Traveler, now is the time to do it before the campaign ends this week. As a reminder, the Traveler will release prior to Season three as it takes place after the events of Fathom. Your support not only helps us bring more of the Maastorian universe to life, but ensures you can continue the story as early as possible with the Traveler Backer exclusive season. To check out the crowdfund, go to derelictpodcast.com or click the link in the Episode Notes below. When you get there, you'll see an updated Traveler section with new enhanced story details about the season, new add ons for some Traveler specific merchandise using the newly designed Traveller base emblem inspired by the original Fathom base design, and a video showing the mysterious computer screen capture from some place called Scimitar. There's also details on something we're calling the Traveler Ghost Route Log, which is going to be a really, really cool graphical add on pack that is meant to enhance your experience of the story. The Ghost Route Log is a record made by Agent Blaine recording his moves throughout the galaxy in anticipation of reaching the Traveler. It's maps, schematics and detailed environment layouts for every location featured in every episode of the Traveler and includes Blaine's handwritten notes detailing each operation in order to pull off the suicide mission that will become the Traveler, run the Ghost Route Log, I think is something that really adds to the listening experience and the overall immersiveness of the story. Again, to visit the Crowdfund and check out all the new Traveler videos, add ons and details, head to derelictpodcast.com war or click the link in the Episode notes below. Thank you for all your support. Thank you for listening. Thank you for helping us get here and enjoy this sneak peek from the Traveler.

You're always better at planning than me. So I wanted to run this by you, even though I know you tell me it's crazy and not worth it. Maybe you'd be right. You're always smarter, too. Used to be a place called Traveler. Maryland Research camp is built on an asteroid about the size of Tokyo. Experimental Particle research center there tried to punch a controlled wormhole through space time. They did, and then the collapse inverted the mass grid, created a micro singularity that shredded the entire facility and pulled the debris into a spherical nightmare about 30 miles in diameter called the razor lace. 2000 people wiped out Kessler knots and Mobius loops, dead modules and asteroid shards colliding in patterns that look predictable until you trust them. Microcurrents so sharp a half second burn can flip your ship sideways into a Wal at 30 meters a second. Traveler used to be one rock with a research city on top. Now it's a murder. Pinball machine floating in space. A suicide mission. So why do it? What's there that could be worth it? Imagine a place where every lie, every transfer, every terminated project code Mastoria, never dreamt up, still exists. Every bit of data, every dirty little secret, every hidden agenda the corporation produced or invented, all of it stored and cataloged and officially timestamped. Mazdorian calls it root node. The last of the Triarch archives. The underworld calls it the Black Ledger because it keeps the version of the books nobody's supposed to see. And because everyone knows if they can crack it, they can own Moss Dorian. The Syndicates tried first. Triads, Mars families. Half a dozen pirate constellations. None of them came back. What's left of their ships is part of the debris ring now. See them in the scans. Those torn hulls chasing each other in loops. Those were heists once. So what we need, near as I can figure, is a very specific kind of pilot. A very specific kind of sh. And a scientist who can argue with a singularity and win. I know you'll never hear this. I know you're gone. Even after so long, it still doesn't feel that way. Like you're. I don't know, lost. Like you just took a wrong turn somewhere. And if I just looked in the right place, then I know you would tell me it's not worth it. But I miss you. I miss you. And they made you into a villain in their paperwork. Let me think that we had both died for something. Then they kept feeding the beast I thought we'd killed. So, yeah, it's worth it. I'm gonna find the truth. And then I am gonna choke them with it. The Traveler coming soon.

Setting & Stakes:
“Traveler” was once an asteroid-based research city, now a deadly debris field (Razor Lace) after a catastrophic experiment with wormholes.
Over 2000 personnel perished, leaving a lethal, chaotic region in space filled with unpredictable hazards.
“Now it’s a murder pinball machine floating in space. A suicide mission.” – Agent Blaine (03:30)
The Objective:
Root Node / Black Ledger: Hidden within the debris is the mythic digital archive called Root Node (the Triarch's last archive), rumored to contain every secret, project, and corrupt dealing of the powerful Maas-Dorian corporation.
“The underworld calls it the Black Ledger because it keeps the version of the books nobody’s supposed to see. And because everyone knows if they can crack it, they can own Maas-Dorian.” – Agent Blaine (04:30)
Failed Attempts: Multiple criminal and pirate groups have tried to seize the Black Ledger; none have returned.
“The Syndicates tried first. Triads, Mars families. Half a dozen pirate constellations. None of them came back.” – Agent Blaine (04:49)
Requirements for Survival: To even attempt recovery, a team needs an exceptional pilot, a unique ship, and a scientist capable of “arguing with a singularity and winning.”
“What we need, near as I can figure, is a very specific kind of pilot. A very specific kind of ship. And a scientist who can argue with a singularity and win.” – Agent Blaine (05:05)
Personal Motivation: Blaine reveals a sense of personal loss and desire for truth, as well as a resolve to expose the corporation’s lies.
“I know you’ll never hear this… But I miss you. I miss you. And they made you into a villain in their paperwork… So, yeah, it’s worth it. I’m gonna find the truth. And then I am gonna choke them with it.” – Agent Blaine (06:00)
