Well, when you stop being boring, it's
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
still not the same thing as being interesting.

Routines are really good things

to get things done. However, too much of a routine makes you boring. The interesting thing, and I've mentioned this before, that bored people are generally boring people. They often have the expectation that some stimulation of somebody from the outside is just supposed to make them happy and excited about life. No, you've got to put in the effort. So you have to be able to shift gears in life and chew life up. It's very precious. Chew it up. So the problem with giving up routines is that it brings some uncertainty and risk. Well, so what if something doesn't work out? May the next time. So what if something actually works out? It may not the next time. But that's what makes life interesting and not boring. Ask your dearest friend if you're way too predictable and say please, you're not going to hurt my feelings. I need you to answer this question. Am I really very, very, very predictable or no? But please tell me the truth. They're in a good position, being your best, best, best, best. Then a lot of you have limiting perspectives and rules about people, places and things. Limiting perspectives, which means you allow those thoughts in your head, opinions, I don't know, perspective to get in the way of you reaching out for different people, places and things. You really need to, as many people have heard this phrase, get out of your comfort zone. And you know, if you're too scared to taste life, you're wasting life. You know, kids are really curious about people, places and things. They love it. Puppies, people, places, things. They're crazy about it. So why don't you make believe for a little bit that you're a puppy or a kid. Now, if you're taking a whole lot of time out of your life doing boring things like social media and television and stuff like that, that's time you're wasting. Stop acting like, well, I have to do these things, but there will be the right time for me to try this, that, and no, don't even think about that. There isn't. You know what the right time is now. Now when I planned a vacation for next year at this time, three weeks, you know what I'll be hitting? Usually I go on a vacation. I go somewhere. I'm going to be Japan, the Gobi Desert, Mongolia, Russia, Greenland, ICELAND, NORWAY. In three weeks, private jet, 50 people, max. Wow. That's going to be way out of the comfort zone and I'm really looking forward to it. Otherwise, I would never be going to the Gobi Desert. I wouldn't see Russia. I'm not going to take a vacation just to see Russia or Iceland or Greenland or Norway. I'm not going to take a whole vacation. Just go one place. Won't happen. So it's a little smorgasbord. Can't wait. It's going to be very exciting. So don't wait. Do it now.

Take a new route to go to work, hike a different trail or hike at all. Spice things up. Do the things you normally do, but switch them up a little bit. Make them interesting. Go someplace different. I mean I tend almost every Sunday to go to the same place for lunch. I like the place. It's cute and adorable. It's outside. It's real cute and pretty. Bring bb. They know me there. They bring out hot water immediately. But let's discover some new places. The food may be terrible, but the next place the food could be wonderful and the ambiance great. And the people who work There. Fun.

Get out of that rut. You know, when water runs in a little rut, it just makes it deeper and deeper and deeper. Try a new hobby. Try a new class. When people ask you to do things,

Do things that make you worried. I climbed that boulder that time we had the pictures up on the Facebook. Was I scared? The answer is out of my mind scared. And I had to keep saying, I'm hooked up. Let's see how has a heart attack and dies. I'm not going to fall. The teacher who holds the line, as long as he's okay, I'm okay. And he looks very healthy. And I keep talking to myself, talk to strangers. I take Bibi for several different kinds of walks. And this young couple was walking and obviously with a little pram. And I said, may I look at your baby? Yes. Oh, cutest baby. Just about a month and a half old. Oh, my God, they're just so perfect. This cute little nose and mouth and eyeballs and fingers. It's just so cute. And I never saw them before. Probably never see them again since I haven't seen them and this is in my neighborhood. Probably they were visiting somebody and I said, don't blink. I said, isn't this wonderful? And they both said, yes. And I said, well, don't blink because suddenly it'll be 32 and 6 foot 2. Don't blink. And she goes, I've heard that before. And I said, listen to it. You know, it all goes so fast. But I talked to complete strangers, and it made me smile. Made them smile. Loosen up. Loosen up, people. Don't be boring. Little spontaneity make you more happy about being alive. Stop being so regimented. Stop being so unbearably careful.
