Yes, hi Dr. Laura. Thank you so much for taking my call.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
You're welcome. How can I help?
Caller Sylvia
Yes, so I wanted to, I was just asking the question in regards to I'm thinking about going back to school after 50 and I currently have my undergrad and I've been, I have over.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
What do you, what do you want to go back to school to study?
Caller Sylvia
I want to go back to school to study accounting, which I have about 16 years of accounting experience and I'm right now utilizing.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Why do you have to go to school? You know, more than the teachers.
Caller Sylvia
Well, that's, that's my dilemma. I've been operating from the HR perspective for the last seven years. And I guess why I'm thinking about going back is I never got that bachelor's degree in accounting and my degree is in business management. And so my thought was what is.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
It you want to get a job doing?
Caller Sylvia
I would like to get a job as a controller or an accounting manager. And what I'm seeing is in terms of qualifications, they are looking for that accounting degree in most cases or that CPA license And so that has kind of left me with one, the fact that I have not been in the industry for quite some time, thinking about going back to school. And then two, in order to sit for the cpa, I will need to go back and get those accounting. Got it.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Yeah, you're absolutely correct. So how can I help you?
Caller Sylvia
Yes, I wanted to find out if my thought process in terms of. And I understand that you don't like the term midlife crisis, but no, I.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Don'T believe in it. You're not having a crisis. You've done things a certain way. You've reached a point in your life where you realize you want to go higher. And to do that, you have to go backwards and get the requirements done. So you now for the next part, because you're not wasting life for the next part of your life, you want to be doing a different job. That's not a crisis. That's an intelligent, mature decision.
Caller Sylvia
Thank you.

So I was at a Chase Sapphire lounge and I saw a burger on the menu. I took a bite and I was blown away. Took another bite and I was like, whoa, this is really special. And I couldn't figure out why. Was it the bun? Was it the sauce, the blend of meat? I want to find delicious things in places where you would never think was going to be. I would do a layover for that burger.

And up there no's. That's because they're. You know why they're saying that? Because they're ashamed that they don't have that ambition.
Caller Sylvia
Okay, perfect.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
That's why going to acquaintances asking they're going to ask out of their own emotional discomfort. That's how they're going to answer.
Caller Sylvia
Okay. And what I found is I have been been enrolled within the HR and they have not satisfied me. And so I've bounced around. I've been in large corporations, I've been in some nonprofits, but once my father passed in 2020. And that was the last of my parents. It really made me look back over my life and do some reflecting and some reflection. And with that, I had to look at when was I most happiest in doing. And it was with accounting and the data crunching numbers and things of that nature. And so that's what led me into, okay, well, why. Why have I been selling myself for my secondary hat, which is hr, which is nothing wrong with it. It's just very broad. And I have not necessarily always fit in with some of the aspects of hr. So thank you so much.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
You are an incredibly mature, intelligent woman.
Caller Sylvia
Thank you. Thank you so much.
