Yes, my question to you Dr. Laura I've been dating a gentleman for almost a year and I've been married before. He's never been married and he's about. She's never so she's never been married. I've been married before and when I started dating him I let him know

what what happened to your marriage?

So I my marriage. I got divorced. I did. I didn't do. I did not choose wisely and I got married y'. All. So

how old were you? When you did not choose wisely, how old were you?

Yes ma' AM I was 22.

And how old was he?

He was 18 years older than I was.

What, your parents went along with that?

The hell not really. My mom was upset.

Do you think she had a good reason to be upset?

[Caller]

Yes, because there were many red flags.

So you felt motivated to marry an old dude with red flags Because.

Because I just felt like maybe I'll never find somebody and I was going to be taken care of.

Go through the question again. You decided to marry an old man with a lot of red flags and an upset. Your mom give me a better reason than. I didn't know if I'd find somebody with, you know, hundreds of millions of men in America.

Yeah, I. I just couldn't. They just figure, well, she's an adult. Let her make her own decisions.

What does this have to do with your choice? I don't understand what you're saying. Help me understand.

I guess they figured she was going to go do it anyways, whether we tell her or not.

[Dr. Laura]

No, my question was, why did you do it knowing they were upset? There were red flags and he was old. What did you think you were going to gain?

[Caller]

I wasn't mature enough at that time. Now,

[Dr. Laura]

so you realize this guy took advantage of you, right?

[Caller]

Yeah. And then I brought three children in with it. So.

[Dr. Laura]

So how old were the kids when you left or. He left.

[Caller]

Whoever left, I left because money. He started controlling the money. I didn't have any money to take care of myself, so I ended up leaving.

And so where. Where did you get money to live on with the three kids once you left him?

[Caller]

I went after him for child support and alimony so I could survive and I went back to live with my parents.

[Dr. Laura]

[Caller]

Then I stayed sing. I stayed single the way you said to never marry, never date while you have children at home. So good for you. Very grateful to do that. Made sure all the kids were left because I wanted consistency, I didn't want chaos and I was watching out for the safety of my daughter.

Well, you obviously. You obviously matured pretty fast.

So this guy who has never married, does he have an explanation for never marrying, having a commitment, long term relationship?

Well, he had. His excuse is he hasn't found somebody and then he was living with somebody for four years and looks like that person wanted marriage and he never, never gave that to that person, to that lady.
